I do not know where I would find myself today unless I read it, probably obsessed with my appearence and posessions,- simpy unhappy. This book has allowed me to look through all the layers the ego adds to one's life and therefore forget the true meaning and beauty of it. Eckart Tolle points out the obvious, it is so obvious it has been completley disregarded by human kind. Since I have read this book I refer back to it every single day to live a more joyful life, no matter where I may find myself. My friends have read it or are reading it and they agree to the message, it changes lives no matter what your life may contain. I am only 17 years old, and my only regret is that I haven't read this book earlier, it would have saved me from a lot of unnecessary suffering that mostly imposed on myself, almost all pain is self created. I am currently urging everyone I love to read this book, even people I don't love! I gurantee that if someone reads this book and understands it's message they will live better life. There are countless books on how to behave to be happier, better, smarter etc, but this is the only one that goes deeper, and sticks, far beyond all the shallow changes people pursue. If every single person read and understood the book's content I am positive that all misery would end, this may only make sense to you of you read it. But if I had enough money I would buy a truck load an give it out to everyone.
After reading this book and no longer have an excuse to be sad, and unless you want to be unhappy, I strongly encourage the world to read it.』

The 2010 Day to Day calendar is a small block of 365 dated comic strips, designed to be torn off on a daily basis. Each page is printed in color - the overall color scheme is green and purple. This year a new addition to the Day to Day calendar is the "daily extra" printed on the back of each page. Sometimes it's a small brain teaser (eg a sudoku puzzle, a word search or a maze). Or it might be a riddle, a joke, a piece of trivia or an inspiring quote. There are also occasional household hints. On the weekend pages there might be a template to write notes for the babysitter or just a blank space to jot notes.
Unlike previous years, the 2010 calendar is not internally shrinkwrapped, but it still arrived without damage.

I need this style of calendar to keep my appointments, so if I am going to buy it, it might as well be this one to support the Sierra Club's effort. 5 stars for the photographs as they are breathtaking. There is one negative review posted about the calendar that I would like to make a correction on. Although I do wish the calendar was made on 100% recycled stock and made with recycled or vegetable inks (and yes, I have written to SC to put pressure on them to change the content), the pages inside the calendar are printed on 50% recovered waste with 10% post consumer waste. It also says the virgin component of the paper is chlorine free and from tree farms. I would give it 5 stars when SC has the printer upgrade the content. Does the negative reviewer do other things to offset such as using 100% recycled toilet paper, papertowels, office copy paper, recycled ink cartridges, etc. like I and other do?』

This calendar is all about feeling good about yourself. Is it printed on recyclable paper? Of course not! It wouldn't look good then. Can you recycle it easily after next year? Well, you can toss it in one of your 14 different recycling bins but the glossy paper and high resolution ink will mean that somebody at the recycling plant will have to pluck it out and throw it in the landfill adding to the overall inefficiency of recycling. But that's not the point here. The point is to delude yourself into thinking that although you live in a dirty little city that its residents can't keep clean, you are still communing with nature.
If you think nature's beauty is a fragile thing and celebrate it with this calendar, I will give you a hoe and have you scrape off the 15 different varieties of fungi that are growing on the side of my barn. You don't need a calendar when every morning you have to get up and feed the stock. While you are all trying to save the planet, the rest of us are trying to feed you so you can keep on whining. It's not for everyone I suspect, but for those who always notice poor punctuation, whether it be in print or in advertising, it's nice to know there's someone else out there who gets crazy when they see it. My copy now has many highlighted phrases. It makes a great gift if you know someone else who had proper punctuation drilled into them in grammar school.』
(500 Words or Less) 『Correct me if I am wrong, but this is a grammatically correct sentence. Or is it? Along with a profound sense of punctuation paranoia, Lynne Truss's book, Eats, Shoots&Leaves, delivers caustic wit, legitimate humor and intriguing history (Yes, the letter "s" follows an apostrophe after a possessive name ending in "s" - see page 55). I chose this book merely for need of a good grammatical guide in response to several teachers, and, as of this morning: professors, spilling red ink all over my papers as their hearts bled for my miserable lack of grammatical sense. I supposed I'd find a boring how-to manual; what I discovered was a book as fascinating as a novel. Why? Truss weaves actual teaching with wit, style, and an unimaginable number of stories and references masterfully! While not fully confident in my abilities to write a full paragraph with perfect punctuation, by the end of the book I smiled with a newfound delight in grammar and by the end of this introduction I will have used all the marks Lynn Truss discusses in her guide... She makes you laugh. Far from the simply subtle style of Struck and White in their The Elements of Style, Lynn Truss is laugh out loud funny. She explains the importance of a hyphen by highlighting how "extra-marital sex... is quite a different bunch of coconuts" than extra marital sex (169). Tying humor to grammar instruction makes it all the more accessible to readers like myself. I never found it distracted from her overall theme, that of a call to fellow "sticklers" to uphold the rules of grammar, either. She tells stories. She does not just rant from her own perspective: she shares the knowledge that brackets were named "lunulae" by Erasmus in the 16th century for "their moon-like profile" (161). With stories of sarcastic letters written by George Bernard Shaw to T.E. Lawrence about the latter's use of grammar to the quoted thoughts of Lewis Thomas on the semicolon, you'd be hard-pressed to find a page without researched knowledge into the development of grammar in the English language. She teaches the reader. As soon as I closed the book I noticed a change in how I spoke, verbally even, to my roommate. I literally have been watching every punctuation mark in this critique, remembering her examples on correctness and the importance of not looking like "a stupid person" (98). I feel I have improved. With a final chapter on her lament at the emergence of "Netspeak," or the internet's effect upon grammar, Lynn Truss ends a book that is more than a guide; it makes a point. She truly wishes to bring the understanding of grammar to everyman, yes, but she also takes a blunt approach in reacting to poor punctuation. Lynn Truss entertains, yet she writes as someone truly convicted by a call to proper grammar; an academician with a purpose able to connect through clever writing and style.』
