(Does everything it says) 『A great product. I use it on a 10 inch laptop and the only thing wrong is the size of the vehicle icon. I use the motorbike icon as it is the smallest but it is still too big. Does not have a bulk delete of waypoints, so you have to delete them five or six at a time. Everything else is great. (Try Streets&Trips 2009 trial before you buy Garmin software) 『Garmin makes excellent GPS systems for your auto. I have used one for several years, however, the Garmin Mobile PC software is not what I expected. Insallation wasn't too bad but not as easy as Microsoft Streets and Trips 2009. The Garmin software operates much like the Garmin 360 in my auto and is primarily designed for providing driving information as you travel down the street. If you need to route out a trip, look at details and play "what if scenarios" it will not do it. In my opinion most people would be better off applying the Garmin software cost to a handheld Garmin. They are much more portable and usable. The GPS receiver that comes with the Garmin software does not work as well as their handheld units. On the other hand the Streets and Trips loaded on a PC makes it easy to route a trip and modify it as needed. It can be used to plan trips,even without a GPS reciever connected. I also downloaded CoPilot, and this works excellent with Copilot.
I have not read the manual yet.
Used in the woods of Red River Gorge, KY. great reception.
I find the best order of sequence is to have the GPS unit turned on 1st, then turn on the PDA.

On the other hand, when plugged in, it mated fine with my Palm Centro and worked with the Tom Tom software on the Centro. It also appeared to work with the StarCaddy demo software on the Centro, but I will have to test a second unit with a working battery on the golf course to be sure. Meanwhile, I am waiting to see if Amazon refunds the 2nd day air postage I paid.』
(Better than cellphone gps) 『I have a Nokia e71 with internal gps which works fine. Indoors I can lock on to 3 or 4 satellites and outdoors I can usually lock on to about 5 or 6 satellites with an accuracy of about 100m indoors to 15m outdoors that fluctuates.
When I got the BT-368 I was happily surprised by how small, thin and sleek the design was. I paired it with the e71 in a few seconds and the satellite lock immediately went up to about 10 satellites at almost 100% signal strength. The error outdoors dropped to to an impressive 6m accuracy without fluctuation.
The battery also lasts for hours. Excellent product. 5 out of 5.』
(Surprising performance) 『I was looking for a Bluetooth gps for use with my blackberry 8320 Curve. I heard some favorable comments about this one on a forum, and decided to check it out. It is surprising small and very simple to operate: just press a little recessed button, and it powers up and searches for satellites, and gives a solid Bluetooth connection. I haven't had a single problem; reliability has been 100%. It even powers down when an application is no longer communicating with it. Battery life hasn't been an issue for me. I just charge it up at the end of the day. I have a ball cap that has a small zippered pocket, which has been perfect for toting the gps. I've also found that having a 'remote' gps like this one is great for when in the car. I just throw my hat (containing the gps) on the dash board, and gives the gps a clear view of the satellites, whereas other self-contained devices would not have a clear view sitting in the middle of a car. Immediately worked out of box, paired with my Nokia N800, and immediately began reporting my GPS location. Not sure if it's the device or the n800, but the refresh rate is about 1-2 seconds I'd say, which is typical of most any GPS device.

(Terrible) 『Pros: It's a compact, solidly-built USB dongle-style GPS receiver. Used under Ubuntu it works out-of-the-box with gpsd and Tangogps installed.
Cons: Accuracy is horrible. Example: In an open area it locks onto 7 satellites. In that same area the GPS on my cellphone (used as GPS device with Tangogps under Ubuntu, same computer same time same location same software) locks onto 5 - so far so good. But the FreeRunner [phone] GPS has pinpoint accuracy, while the GiSTEQ junker fluctuates by up to 1/4 mile!!
Mapping my commute resulted in abstract art, using it for turn-by-turn GPS navigation would be impossible. I travelled straight down a 4-lane highway at 45mph and the FreeRunner reported accuracy even as to which lane I was in while the GiSTEQ reports a lightning-bolt shaped path that varies by 2 blocks in either direction.
Also, the overlarge blinking LED (1/8" x 1/2") is obnoxious』
(Excellent product, product support resources not so good.) 『Purchased on June 20, received today. I got the black version of this item. Plugged in and installed the drivers that came on the included CD without any problems. I bought this item to use with Microsoft Streets&Trips 2009. S&T requires GPS receivers to operate on NMEA 2.0 standard and at 4800 baud rate. The 4800 baud rate is a must if you are going to use this with S&T. That's where my problems started.
Although this item is NMEA 2.0 compliant, the default baud rate was set to 38400. S&T 2009 kept saying that either the data being sent/received by GPS receiver was not NMEA 2.0 compatible or the baud rate was incorrect. After a lot of browsing through different GPS forums did not help, I visited the GiSTEQ website. To my surprise, the Forums on the GiSTEQ website have no discussion area for the GPS USB dongle - even though there are (at the time of this review) discussion areas for other GiSTEQ products.
So I called the contact phone number listed on their website. I got to voicemail saying, "GiSTEQ Corporation is closed, please leave a message". This was at 4pm Eastern Time on a Monday. I started to suspect the credibility of GiSTEQ. I tried again 20 minutes later and this time a gentleman answered the phone. I explained the problem to him and he said that he would email me a tool to change the default baud rate to 4800. The email arrived shortly after the phone call, along with instructions on how to change the baud rate using the tool.
[...] Here's how to use the tool:
1. Plug in the device and make sure that drivers are installed. It should show in Device Manager under the "Ports (COM&LPT)" category as Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#).
2. Unzip the file you downloaded from the link above and run GPS Viewer executable file.
3. Select the right COM port (if you don't know the COM port you can find it in device manager, see #1).
4. Select 38400 as baud rate
5. Click the connect button, immediately to the right of Baudrate. It's titled "Close" for some reason.
6. When you see some codes appear in the Message section, you are ready to change the baud rate
7. Go to Binary menu (next to File at the top left of the window)->Configure Serial Port.
8. Change the baud rate to 4800 and click Set.
9. Make sure you see the message "Configure Serial Port Successful" in the Response window
10. You should now see that the baud rate has changed to 4800.
11. Click "Connect" button right next to Baudrate to disconnect.
12. Close the program.
Streets&Trips should work fine with your GiSTEQ GR-110 (aka GT-730F) USB GPS receiver. It works very well and finds 8-10 satellites even inside the house. Start up time is very fast.
Over all, it's a great product at a great price (got it new for $[...] + shipping). I am satisfied with it. Bought it back in December and it has been behaving good so far. I am able to find most of the Points of Interest that I have searched as well.
Only two cons:
-it takes forever to find the satellites after I turn it on. I have to turn it on before I leave so it will locate itself with no delay. -battery takes forever to charge and it does not have a power cord charge. Battery fully charged only after a 4 hrs travel.』

I use the BT to send GPS info to my Palm T/X. GPS gets its "cold" location fix very quickly (I often turn it on several hundred miles from its last fix location). Battery holds a charge for a long time. Auto on/off seems to work well. The case is its only problem. Very, very cheap plastic. Since this rides on the dash of the truck I wish the case was hardier. But, I am just extra careful with it. Oh, "Data Logger" function is a little misleading. I don't think it "stores" the GPS data, it just downloads it (in real time) to a computer (or if it does store the data I couldn't figure out how to make it work). And the manual is just OK. However, I did break this thing apart to mod inside a netbook. I couldnt get reception there. I removed it.. soldered a new usb cable to it and then electric taped all over it.. Now it plugs into a regular sized usb again and works perfectly! Picks up a precise location in seconds on a warm start or half a minute from a cold start. Comes with monitoring software which gives coordinates, altitude, time, date, and much more I dont need to use. Works with other mapping software.
This thing has an internal battery and memory. If you use it often it will remember satellite data and pick up signals on the double. Truely awesome. Very small. Should be cheap.』

It seems to operate about the same as my last receiver (Holux GPSlim 236), which was stolen out of my car at the "full service" car wash. The 236 was a SiRF III chipset, and didn't acquire as many satellites, but was reliable for the 2-3 years I had it. I read some bad reviews about Blue-tooth dying in the current 236, so I opted to try a different unit this time.
This M-1000 works the same, but it doesn't use a SiRF III chip set. The M-1000 connects to more satellites, but this doesn't really help make things works any differently or better for me. I am using TomTom Navigator 6 on my Treo 755p, and as long as I get multiple satellites, it just works. I have periodic issues with my Treo not syncing to the receiver. My previous GPSlim 236 had the same problem, but seemed to have them less often. Usually, I can just wait, or power the receiver off and back on, and it will connect fine. Seems to be able to connect inside when my GPSlim 236 might not have been able to, so I think it has a little better sensitivity. Battery life is good, though I haven't really tried to see how long it lasts. I only have to recharge it after I forget that it is on leave it going all day and overnight.
I have not tried the included software, but I never have needed to, so I can't comment on it.
I love the configuration I have. I like Garmins more than TomTom Navigator 6, but having TomTom on my phone is AWESOME! Some phones have GPS mappig capabilities, but they don't have voice guidance which is what TomTom provides. The Holux receiver is small, so it fits in my pocket or in a cubbyhole in my car dash.
Good value at the price.

If that wasnt a bad enough experience the seller would entertain the fact that the product was faulty. Beware of this sellers return policy. Read it carefully. I never had such a bad experience. I returned the inoperative product to buyGPSnow. With no refund notification for over a week I quizzed them. They eventually refunded 60% of what I paid. They informed me shipping cost is not refundable, charged me 15% restocking fee and charged $8.95 for the un-return free gift. So the FREE gift is $8.95. I just wanted the refund I deserve. I will use Amazon again and again, but will steer clear of buyGPSnow. " July 2, 2008 』
(You won't regret buying this.) 『Pretty amazing little device. It locks on to satellites in seconds, and is very quick. I'm using it with my Dell Axim x50v with no problems. With TomTom it very accurately tells your position, and reacquires the link within a second after going through a tunnel.
It has 3 lights.
Red: Battery status. Unlit means battery is fine. Blue: Bluetooth. Blinking means it has a connection. Red: Satellite. Blinking means it has acquired satellite links.
The manual is fairly worthless, but there is another manual which is much better that you can download from Holux.
It came with a Free Universal PDA/Smartphone Mount. Believe it or not, this is a pretty nice mount. It hooked into my car vent just fine, with little effort. The sides expand out (from a button in the back) to hold the pda. 2 small feet open from the bottom. Padded insides (all around, even on the feet) make sure the pda is snug. There is a plastic tightening knob on the back so you can angle it any way you want.
