I just got this TV last week and already I am in love with it. It has so many features, benefits and settings, but the one thing that resonates with everything on this TV is how user-friendly it is.
I got this TV because I was upgrading my old one (an RCA L26W11), which I made the mistake of purchasing as soon as it came out; that TV isn't even a quarter as good as my Panasonic Viera, yet the price was nearly twice.
Be sure to check out the pics that I put up; I have included some pictures of the TV, remote and docking station which are all labeled.
The TV includes these items in the box: the beautiful Panasonic Viera 32" LCD HD TV - model number: TC-L32X. a standing pedestal for the TV (this is black and shiny and blends in nicely with the TV) a very detailed and easy-to-follow instructional booklet which also details Panasonic's 1-year warranty a color-coded large insert for easy to install instructions a universal dock for your iPod which comes with a ferrite core for the cord a cleaning kit with a lint-free cloth a remote control (with batteries) that is just as beautiful and simple to use as the TV it's operating * various other papers that no one ever reads (about child safety and product registration) and a small set of screws

You will experience an entirely new TV experience when you watch your Panasonic Viera for the very first time, because the picture is so crisp and detailed and lively. It's like watching a waterfall or a butterfly that comes to life in your very own home. I have never seen a better picture that is more descriptive than this.
The TV includes a ton of inputs for all of your components, including 3 HDMI inputs (2 of which can be converted to DVI if you require that). I have my HD DVR box hooked up to it and it was very simple. I also have a second desktop hooked up to the PC input (RGB a/k/a VGA - 15-pin standard computer outlet) and a Panasonic DVD burner. Even though my equipment is old and not state-of-the-art electronics that was just purchased does not matter, because the TV makes everything so quick and easy to both install and use. If your computer is like mine and does not have its own sound source just connect a set of cheap speakers to it; that's what I did since it was easier than hooking the computer up to the TV since the inputs were already being used. (By the way, you cannot listen to the TV while you're using the computer.)
Speaking of the components, I really like the fact that you can label what each item is on the screen and customize it if you need to. Panasonic really streamlined an otherwise daunting chore of remembering what each input is for.
It is Energy Star rated which in laymen's terms means that the TV will shut off automatically whenever it's been on too long without any activity. However it's very simple to override this if you wish. The TV also includes HDMI side inputs as well as more A/V inputs for hooking up a camcorder to view something quickly (all on the side).
I also love all of the menu features and set-up features included. You can adjust the picture size to 4 different sizes (I have found that FULL works and looks best with HD channels, as well as standard def ones). The audio can be adjusted to various sound-levels and to your exact liking. After reading some of the reviews I was very apprehensive as far as this was concerned because I did not know what to expect. But it has great sound. As a matter of fact I keep my sound on 1 (the lowest because I don't like very loud noises) and I can hear everything so amazingly clear and sharply. In addition to the audio and picture size, there's other menu features that can change the coloring and adjust lots of other things. Just remember, if you have multiple components like me you're going to want to do these adjustments while you're inside each of the specific inputs (otherwise whatever you do not change/adjust simply defaults to whatever it was set at by the manufacturer).
The appearance of the TV will absolutely become the focal point of your office, bedroom or wherever else you hook it up in because it is so intoxicating and almost overpowering in its apperance. You just want to look at its beauty and celebrate it. Besides a tiny, little, red indicator light (on the front of the panel), it's entirely in black. The TV is also incredibly lightweight and super-slender. But the picture size (and image) and sound are huge.
The TV is compatible with your SD memory cards and includes an entirely detailed section (through the Viera Image Viewer link) for this. Also through the Viera Link, you can listen to your favorite songs on your iPod. I can't tell you how much of an added bonus and a surprise this was.
I did want to remind everyone to always be sure to watch TV (specifically the HD channels) set to the Component input. It's a little confusing (at least for me) because I found out that you can still get HD channels through the TV input, however the picture comes up in 480i. You need to always be in Component for the 720p picture and you'll be fine.
Through the Viera Link Connection you will automatically be able to control any of your other **compatible** Panasonic components that are hooked up to the TV. However, there is a catch, and it's a big catch. These must be "Panasonic HDAVI Control" equipped components that utilize an HDMI cable. Since my DVD burner (DMR-E20) was made sometime in the Stone Ages the Viera Link will not work for it.
As I touched on already, the instructional booklet is fantastic. It includes pictures, diagrams, info and lots of other useful text that reminds me of more of a computer manual than a TV booklet. I also had to contact Panasonic and received quick and speedy tech support by someone who understood what they were speaking about. As a (former) longtime RCA customer this was a godsend because RCA has non-existent support that only rivals their defective products that are only good for breaking down quickly.
Incidentally, although I was able to program the remote for the DVD burner, I discovered (after much time and energy trying otherwise) that my Comcast digital remote cannot be programed to control this TV. This is hardly the fault of Panasonic though and just only a minor inconvenience. For the time being at least I have taped each remote together with black double-sided electrical tape. It doesn't look very nice but at least it beats searching for them all the time. But if anyone has been able to use their Comcast digital remote on this TV model please let me know how you did it.
In the future I plan to hook up a blu-ray player to this and I can only imagine how crisp and grand everything will appear. But for now, my DVDs look just fine on it and (at least to me) I can see a somewhat more detailed and enhanced picture. Speaking of blu-ray does anyone know if Panasonic makes a blu-ray player with integrated WI-FI? It seems like the LG 390 is the best on the market right now, but if I can keep with the Panasonic brand I would like to.
By the way, I strongly recommend getting this on Amazon as they have the very best prices and service. I purchased this from one of their partners (J&R Computers&Music World) and received it within 2 days flat. J&R packaged it very well and included lots of extra padding and even checked the inside of the contents before it was shipped to give it a further quality-control inspection. They even included my tracking number on Amazon less than 12 hours after the order was placed. J&R and Amazon get a full 5 stars.
***Beware*** I also noticed that Sixth Avenue Electronics City (a local NJ electronics brick and mortar store that's more like a used car dealership that somehow morphed into online selling) is one of the sellers on Amazon. I do not recommend dealing with Sixth Avenue Electronics City/6ave for anything. I have had many very poor dealings with 6ave and do not recommend them under any circumstances, because, among other reasons they offer lousy customer service and support, substandard products and they do not care about their customers. Last year my parents purchased a $2,000.00 LCD TV and when I called them with a couple of basic questions I was treated very rudely with a total lack of regard by 6ave (and this was not the first time 6ave treated me and my family like this). I have also purchased a defective TV from 6ave a couple of years ago and even though they sold me an inferior item they acted like they did nothing wrong and simply did not want to be bothered. So, even if you may have to pay a couple dollars more I strongly recommend that you steer clear of 6ave. If you do/did make the mistake of buying the TV (or anything else) from 6ave (like I did in the past) PLEASE be smart enough to make your purchase through Amazon. And do not hesitate file an A to Z claim as Amazon will recompense you for any losses (unlike 6ave) and do not believe anything 6ave says until you see proof with your own eyes. If you're a potential customer considering this TV you will find this info very prudent as I have saved you a lot of time, hassle and trouble and most of all, your hard-earned money.

(Backlighting issues) 『Overall, the picture quality is good, as only Sony TV's seem to deliver and the audio sounds great even though the speakers are small. However, the manufacture quality is not up to my expectations when it comes to spending extra money for the Sony brand. This is my 2nd 46v5100 as the first one was problematic and updating the firmware didn't help. There was intermittent loss of audio, there was terrible flashlighting in 3 of the corners, especially in the upper left corner, there was clouding in the bottom half of screen, and finally there appeared to a dimple behind the LCD. Amazon's policy on defective TV's requires that the buyer contact Sony to get a case #. Well, discussing to troubleshoot the problem with Sony was a real pain. (The Sony rep believed that resetting the TV could fix the clouding and flashlighting!) The replacement TV has manufacture date of August 2009 so it had the latest firmware. Fortunately, the 2nd set didn't have the audio problem and had considerably less clouding, however it still has flashlighting in the upper left corner. I'll probably just keep this set as Amazon's return/exchange policy for LCD TV's is a hassle. (Or at least, I was hassled by two Amazon reps). Now, I'm looking to get a second LCD TV for bedroom but I'm looking at other brands. I gave this TV only 3 stars because it seems average even though it is a Sony... It's tough to enjoy this TV's feature set when there are backlighting issues that is so visible every time I watch TV.』
(Great Sony product with a few slight quirks.) 『I ordered this as a replacement to my other Sony 42" A10 series that had an optical block problem, lucky i got the extended warranty. I got this set being the Sony fanboy i have always been from Amazon's Warehouse Deals as an opened box unit, and it was absolutely flawless, paid $1025. The PQ on this set is far better than my older one but with some slight quirks due to this technology. One of them is a "flashlight" effect in the corners and around the screen edges during a dark or black scene, happens on all of these types of sets to some degree, but not really a problem for me. There is also some slight color shifting called "redshifting" on skintones during some scenes, but not really noticable unless you're a true A/V freak like myself. Sony is aware of this issue and is working on it, but i still don't see it as a big deal and it is only very slight if at all. It's like the color on someones face will vary a little like it can't lock onto the right color, but again hardly noticable.
I would recommend this set but that would be biased because in my eyes Sony can do no wrong, well almost. I like it and that's all that matters.

When I looked at the screen at bestbuy the picture was bad compared to another LCD it was next to. I then opened the settings menu and adjusted the settings then the picture looked great. Just as good as the other LCD. So when in a store don't always judge the picture by what they have the settings at. Just get into the menu settings and change them. (Great TV for PC monitor and television viewing) 『We have had this for about 2 weeks and are very happy with it. It was very easy to set up. Our cable package only has broadcast stations but with this we seem to be able to get the digital versions of a whole lot of basic cable channels. Unfortunately, there's still nothing on them except reality shows and procedurals reruns, so it just confirmed for us the uselessness of cable TV.
I hooked up my Mac Mini with a DVI to HDMI cable and got a Microsoft Wireless keyboard and mouse for it. It works very well as a PC monitor and we are able to watch Netflix Watch Instantly movies, YouTube videos and TV shows from Hulu or the networks' sites. We are using Boxee.tv as an interface and that works well. Next up, get an eyeTV so we can use the thing as a DVR.
This is working out exactly as I had hoped and I strongly recommend this TV. We checked out the different brands at comparable price points ($400-$500) and only this one and the Samsung really floated our boat. The picture is almost too clear. I mean, how many acne scars do you really want to see? It has a very usable favorites function which allows you to save your channels. It also interfaces with our Sony Home Theater system with an HDMI cable so we can control the whole system with one remote. Actually I can use the Home Theater remote and my wife can use the TV remote and we can have remote wars.
It has a Picture in Picture function so you can watch TV while you're working on your PC. One complaint is that in order to go back to full TV you have to go through more key presses than I would have liked. The only other complaint is that it takes a few seconds to tune in each channel.
We now have a very useable media center in our living room which gives us complete access to all the wonderful entertainment out there on the interwebs!』
(be careful before buying - the 32L4000 model crashed) 『I purchased a 32" Sony KDL-32L4000 model through an Amazon retail partner, ABT of Chicago. It arrived quickly and worked beautifully for 13 months. Then, the picture went haywire, with shimmering , curtain like things covering the screen. I have seen this condition described in other reviews of this product. Sony live chat worked with me and concluded there was a major failure somewhere in the system. They recommended a service center 140 miles from my home. I took the set to two electronics shops in the city near me and both of them said it was not worth fixing. Mother boards at $200.00 + each would need to be replaced and even then no guarantee of reliable performance. I donated it to a recycling center. Of course it was one month out of warranty.
At the suggestion of the repair shops, I went to Wal Mart and bought a Vizio model listed as a "best buy" by Consumer Reports for $440.00. So far it is beautiful. I have been a Sony loyalist for years, but no more. A $700.00 TV gone in a year. This problem may have been fixed in newer models such as the KDL-32L5000. Just a word to the wise about my experience.』

(Nice picture; the remote needs work) 『I picked up a 19-inch Samsung to mount on the wall in the kitchen. It turned out to seem a little small. As others have said, when you go from a tube TV to a flat screen, you get much more TV in much less space. Anyway, I returned the Samsung. I was going to get a 22-incher, but was convinced to move up to 26. The TV is nice. These might be minor complaints---but we have basic cable...with the Samsung, the local HD channels (ABC, CBS, NBC&Fox affiliates, and a few more) were on the corresponding channels with our cable guide---the CBS affiliate was channel 202, etc; with the Sony, the local HD channels are all over the place---channel 77.2, channel 123.7, etc. Also, the remote is poorly designed, in my opinion. The jump button is one of the best inventions ever. Why does this remote have it way at the bottom of the device, where it's hard to hold/manipulate. The + and - channel buttons are also at the bottom. It would be nice to have those buttons in the middle of the remote.
So far, so good with the picture. The HD channels are really nice. The non-HD ones come in fine, but they're really nothing special to look at. this is a review for all of you out there who are pretty techy, like to do your research, and get the most bang for your buck. i spent hours and hours on my decision, sifting through review after review, and actually ordering and returning this item. read more if you are curious with my results.
plenty of forums on the internet will compare this tv to the panasonic g15 plasma. initially, i chose the samsung pnb650 over the g15 because: 1) reviews showed high color accuracy 2) the TV stand swiveled 3) DNLA content, including the ability to stream MKV and other HD video through the TV, with no need for a media extender.
when i received my unit, i was extremely happy with the picture. colors popped, black levels were good (though seemingly glitchy when there was a perfectly black screen - almost like the picture turned off). but, one thing i have never expected happened to be a deal breaker for me - image retention (IR).
the forums and reviews you read on the net go on and on about how IR and burn in are issues of plasmas' past. what i did not quite realize was that IR and burn in are TWO SEPARATE ISSUES. read this link for a spot on analysis of the difference, and the factors you should consider when buying a plasma [...]
i had image retention from the get go. i used my tv on the "dynamic" setting when playing madden the first week i bought the tv. another thing you will read is that plasmas should never be placed on "dynamic" or "vivid" modes (at least until you "break-in" your set). i personally believe that if the setting is offered on the TV, you should be able to use it no problem. long story short, the EA emblem on the bottom left hand side of the screen remained on the screen after i turned off the game. although it slowly faded away (and i mean very slowly), you could make out that emblem on the screen for THREE WEEKS after i played it. that being said, remember that this was in the first 20 hours or so of use, and that after about a week and a half, you could only see it when you came up to 8 inches from the screen. such issues may not occur after 150 or 200 hours of use, but i was not going to risk it. not only did items like the madden EA sports emblem remain, scoreboards from NFL games, network banners, and tickers remained on the screen far too long for my liking.
another thing to note about the tv is that the DNLA functionality is more a novelty than something that is useful. it does not recognize half the MKVs i have, nor does it play the audio of several WMVs i have. also note that it cannot stream such content over the network; you have to plug in your hard drive directly to the usb jack.
the IR issue was something that was too big a deal for me to overlook. if you do not play much video games, watch CNN, or watch channels with some static emblem, logo, or scoreboard, i dont think you will ever have this issue. you wont have this issue watching movies.
besides that, the TV provides a great, bright picture. 4 HDMI ports and the USB connectivity is great. I loved the swivel stand. however, i like my panasonic g15 plasma much better, and here's why:
1) image retention, seriously, is almost a non issue. only very rarely do you see images retained on the screen, and if you do, if you watch a movie or use the IR scrolling bar, it disappears quickly. 2) blacks are outstanding. i thought they were good on the samsung, but in all honesty, it doesnt compare.
that being said, there are some issues with the panasonic, being: 1) its a bit dark for my tastes, the samsung was brighter. this is really a non-issue if you are watching movies / playing games in dark rooms. 2) the stand does not swivel, though its easy to move the base 3) there are no USB ports, so it limits the amount of content that can be streamed (only pictures and videos through the SD card) 4) the infrared receiver (for remote control) is squarely in the middle of the TV. i place my front speaker there so it was a bit of an issue for me. 5) there are very few picture controls - i cant turn the screen brighter even if i want to! 6) only 3 hdmi... not an issue now i suppose
its also worth mentioning that im no longer trying to stream content through the TV. i got a ps3 and got ps3media server. works like a charm; highly recommended.
one other thing i'll say is that amazon's prices, delivery, and customer service is top notch. i recommend you keep an eye on prices for a few days to see if it goes up or down. there are also random coupons floating around if you do a google search or review the price discussions here at amazon. as of mod nov 07, a good price for the pnb650 would be around $1200 and the g15 around the same. I was able to score the g15 and a panasonic plasma for $1100 - you should hope for a similar deal to return!
white glove delivery through ceva was top notch. customer service in returning the old TV was painless. amazon is the place to buy TVs, no matter which model you choose.

(AWESOME PICTURE!!!!!!!) 『Plasma vs. LCD/LED. There is NO comparison when looking at large 50"+ screens. The black tones and refresh rate are two of the many reasons why I chose plasma. A refresh rate like 120Hz or 240 Hz is only important if it's a LCD or LED. Plasma's refresh rate is so fast that they don't even need to publish it. And a contrast ratio of 3,000,000-to-1 is WAY better than 100,000-to-1. Even a 5th grader can do the math on this one. 30 times the contrast ration means what? A better contrast between light and dark tones on the screen. Choose plasma for either for the picture or the price. And Samsung is the best overall value from any reviewer you can investigate. (Awesome image, outstanding value, but not for everyone...) 『Plasmas aren't as bright as LCD's in rooms with lots of ambient light. Great care must be taken (specially in the 1st 200 hours) to prevent burn-in. The screen is more reflective than most. Plasmas are like that.
Know these things going in, run a break-in procedure for the first 100 hours, dim the lights and get ready for what is still the best image in the flat screen market. Wide, rich, satifying color range. Very good blacks, no funky LCD motion artifacts. Under the correct conditions, and with a little forethought, a sublime viewing experience awaits.

First try, got zero channels. Second try, shifted the attenna, got three channels. Then, I tried to view any of the three channels. All channels "failed to received broadcast." I tried another antenna and got four channels, different from the first three and got the same failure message. Out of frustration, I did what I was trying to avoid and attached my DTV converter box as the AV input. That worked. Problem is the TV is now attached to another plugged-in device, defeating the whole purpose of the portability I was seeking. So: Portable it is NOT!!!!!
Luckily, I got this for a low price so I'm not as mad as if I had paid the higher price. I'll probably use a cable splitter and attach a cable wire to this as an additional TV.』

The picture quality is perfect pretty much out of the box, although there are a few preset video/audio types which fine tune it based upon what you're watching (e.g. sport, vs movie).
I use the DLNA features extensively, streaming movies from my Mac to the TV. I use the wired Ethernet port built in, however there is a wireless option which I have not tried. It's perfectly happy streaming 1080p video over DLNA and the interface to manage the data isn't horrible either.
I paired it with a Samsung HD-BD3252 HT system, which rounds out the setup pretty nicely. The audio from the TV as default is pretty good, but the HT addition really sets it apart.』
(I couldn't be happier!) 『I am writing this review as a former ln46a650 with red touch of color owner. The quality of that set is tremendous but its small size and red color got annoying after a while. I sold the other one and picked up this bad boy for about $1760 last month and wanted to give it some time before writing a review. The piano black finish with the barely noticeable gray at the bottom looks excellent and high class. The touch of color is no longer a distraction. The 240 hz is very smooth and makes all movies including older movies like those from the 50s and 60s on HD channels look very crisp. The blacks are deep and you can tell the contrast ratio is top notch. 1080i uverse looks great. The preloaded art content really shows off the quality of the TV when displaying quality content. You can wow your sophisticated friends with this one. There are about 7-8 impressionist paintings and you should really check out the Manet in a boat one. I don't use any of the widgets as they are laggy and kinda useless. If you are looking for an LCD that has all the features and you wont have to upgrade for a very long time, I'd grab this one with a promo code. The USB input is a nice feature too. The only drawback is I wish they made a 55 inch version of this or bigger. I use a 5.1 yamaha surround system so I cant comment on the audio quality, but who buys an LCD for the sound anyway??』

(Worth its price) 『Overall I am very pleased with this TV and it suits the purpose for which I bought it: a 12x12 room with VESA wall-mount. The physical appearance is great and it's very easy to use. I tried all of the inputs and here's what I found: - HDMI is perfect for Blu-rays; the DVD up-conversion is so-so (there can be digital artifacts several times in an entire movie) - The component looked (to the naked eye) the same as HDMI - The composite looked much better for DVD than HDMI/DVD, but it still wasn't awesome. As a computer monitor, the VGA hook-up is perfect. If I wasn't using it as a regular TV, I'd use it as a PC monitor in a heartbeat. Crystal clear text and did not see any ghosting of any kind.
If you are trying to code a universal remote to this TV, enter codes for Philips / Magnavox (if Viewsonic ones are not in your manual). With that said, I was not able to find one where the "Input" button worked on the universal remote (and I tried quite a few). Volume, channel, and TV power all worked fine with Philips / Magnavox codes.
WARNING: Do -NOT- try to use a Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Disc Player with this TV; there was a terrible amount of artifacts (Blu-ray was bad and DVDs were unwatchable). When hooked up to different devices, both the TV and player work fine. I ended up switching to a Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray Disc Player and it works perfectly with this TV.』
(1080p = FAIL) 『I bought this to replace another Viewsonic 22" monitor because I wanted it to also be a TV. My current Viewsonic is razor-sharp using a DVI link to an Nvidia 9600 GTS card. This was an upper-middle-of-the-road card when I got it less than a year ago, but it does 1080p without breaking a sweat.
The VT2340 performed abysmally at 1080p even with a high end HDMI cable. Contrast was awful and color/brightness smear made it unusable. I suppose as a TV you might get away with it, but nothing like computer fonts were tolerable. I had it running side by side with my 22" Viewsonic and the difference was so dramatic my informal poll of quite a few people was unanimous.

(EXCELLENT FEATURES,....BUT...) 『I am essentially pleased with this tv set, but had to go through many steps before I can say this: I am moderately hearing impaired and depend upon CLOSED CAPTIONS to complete my understanding of any dialogue. I was able to get the captions on the TV SETTING, but no matter what I did, reading and rereading the manual, could not get captions on the HDMI..high definition settings. When I first emailed the VIEWSONIC website I was returned with a very polite email..and the directions were just a repeat of the manual. After two or three more back and forths, I was advised that the HDMI does NOT support captions. I then wrote to J&R, the seller of this tv set. They were very cooperative and contacted VIEWSONIC on my behalf. The rep was also advised that VIEWSONIC, indeed, does not suport the captioning on HDMI. I felt that I was going to have to spend the rest of my VIEWSONIC viewing on the TV setting, in order to get the captions. However, when my cable service people learned of my problem, they were able to get captions through my cable features.
