I went from useing the HD connection with the 5 cables wired in to the back of the TV to the HDMI cable and I was astonished with the difference. What were once fuzzy undifeined edges became crips clear images of a world that I almost felt I could touch. The audio went from being a sort of clustered almost shoved together sound to being an inveloping expirence that sounded extrodinarily life like.

I had sennheiser lightweight open aire headphones in the 70s that sounded awesome for a price of $25. I expected similar performance from these, but I was terribly disappointed. They sounded no better than the cheap earphones that came with the old iPod shuffle. Also, I had to play with the plug to get sound into both earphones at the same time, but it didn't matter since the sound was unacceptable whether or not I received both channels. Also, the lopsided design of the wire is terrible. I ended up buying sony earphones for $26.00 from BestBuy. They perform as well as I expected from these sennheisers, and are very comfortable for all size ear canals. I contacted Sennheiser, but they failed to respond...the company is useless as far as customer service is concerned. Do not believe the positive reviews! If you know good sound, you will not be happy with these.』

(Blocked out my loud, obnoxious cube-mates) 『I initially bought these because of one, the great reviews, and two, because I really wanted an inexpensive pair of headphones that would block out the people I work with. You would think in a work environment, people would be more well-mannered. This is not so, and I work in an office setting where most of our work does NOT require interaction. That being said, if you're trying to block people out, these work GREAT. Before, I had to turn my headphones up to a point where I honestly thought I'd go deaf. Now? It's at most....1/4 of the way up. Not even. And I like to blast my music. My only gripe was that the little buds didn't fit as amazing as I'd like, but you get 3 different sizes! So that helps, I ended up having to use a larger bud on one ear and the smallest one on the other. (I guess I must have some retarded ear canals?) I'm on the fence about whether or not I'd consider these REALLYREALLY comfortable. I mean, they're not bad and I wear them all day without too much bugging me. The cord itself could be longer...but that's just because I have it hooked into a computer.

I picked this controller up on special for $99. It is worth at least that much.
Before I bought this controller my entertainment system required four remotes to function. A couple of those remotes only had one or two buttons I needed. This remote replaced all but one of them. It will not replace a PS3 remote unless you buy a $60 adaptor.
The setup wasn't bad. It easily set itself up for all of my hardware in minutes. It was very easy and the questions is asked made it a very simple process. The bump in the road came when I tried to use the wireless RF expander. They would not work together. There was nothing in the FAQs that helped. There was nothing in the Troubleshooting that helped. I finally figured out that the remote and wireless RF needed new firmware. At least it was easy to update them. After that it worked great.
One of the best features of this remote is the "Activites" feature. It's a glorified macro. Pushing one button will do everything you want. If you push "Watch TV" it turns on my satalite, TV, and Sorround Sound and adjusts all of them to the correct inputs. If I then push "Watch Movie? It doesn't just change the inputs, it turns off the hardware that it's used to watch a movie.
There is also an enormous amount of flexibility put into this remote. You can set it up however you want.
If you can find it on sale this remote is worth it.』
(Don't buy this Refurbished) 『I ordered this refurb because the price seemed great. Well the first remote came and it seemed to be fine until I tried to use the volume button. You had to push the up volume button so hard that it seems pretty clear this is what it was returned for in the first place. I requested a replacement. Again it looks nice, just like new, but this one wouldn't even accept any programing from the logitech software. Couldn't update firmware or anything. At this point I am only able to return this for a refund. I have other harmony remotes and I have loved them (just getting old and buttons don't all work anymore), but I wouldn't buy another refurbished unit, look for a deal on a new one instead. Amazon as always is good to do business with, the replacement arrived very quickly, not their fault it is broken.』
(So far so good) 『Just got a refurbished unit, and thought I would get down my initial impressions. I'll update this review if anything changes (including deleting it and copying the text into a new review if I decide that I have to change my rating).
First off, everything *looks* great. No scuffs, and no indication that the remote was used at all. The aesthetics of the remote and the cradle are fantastic (the remote may look just a bit busy, but that's hard to avoid).
Setup was a breeze, though the software is slightly antiquated. For example, I had to setup my blu-ray player under the "Play DVD" activity, which is a little confusing. It feels like they should have been able to upgrade the software to reflect this. But it recognized all of my devices and everything seems to be working well.
The good: - This unit has far more functionality than I would have suspected. Most of the cheaper "universal remotes" will do little more than power devices on or off, change channel, adjust volume, and allow rudimentary control of playback (play, stop, pause, etc.). I always seem to need the original remotes, though, to access special controls (onscreen menus, for example). The Harmony 890 seems to control everything I need (so far) and has the ability to accept more functionality if I find that I need it.
- The "activities" buttons are great! I just press "watch TV" for example, and my TV turns on, my receiver turns on, everything sets to the appropriate inputs, and then the remote becomes a fusion of my TiVo remote and my receiver remote. It's such a time saver, and I don't have to explain the setup to my wife or parents any more.
The bad: - The remote sometimes doesn't connect to the charger correctly. Sometimes I have to drop it into its cradle several times before it starts charging the batteries.
- The actual media buttons (play, pause, etc.) are near the bottom of the remote in an area that I find very uncomfortable to my hand. I might get used to it, though.
- The buttons are numerous, small, and poorly labelled. It takes a while to find a button, and they are difficult to keep straight by touch. Again, this may well be something that I'll get used to in time.
All-in-all, it's been fairly easy to use (though I am something of a tech-head, and can see that the initial programming might be frustrating for some people) and the functionality is great! If my opinion changes as I get to know the 890, I'll come back and edit this. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend this, especially if you can find it on a reasonable sale.』
(One remote for everything!) 『I bought this remote to stop the neverending complaining form my wife about "why are there so many remotes?", "where's the remote?", "how do I watch a dvd, again?". This remote solved all my problems! Now I just get, "why didn't you buy this sooner!"』
(A TiVo lover's review) 『I've had TiVo for many years now, and one of the distinctive features I've been spoiled by is the amazing form factor of the latest TiVo remote controls. While the Harmony does control all of my devices quite admirably, I have to say that the ergonomics of the 890 STINK big time, especially compared to the TiVo remote. Few reasons:
- The buttons are too small and too close together. Completely unusable without looking at the remote. The TiVo remote has actually become an extension of my hand. When I'm using it, I feel like a Jedi controlling the tv with my mind. - The volume and channel +/- buttons in particular are horribly designed -- each is a single button with a shallow curve distinguishing + form -, and the buttons are so thin that they're really hard to press accurately. - If all of these buttons weren't bad enough, the most important ones on the remote -- those that change between activities -- are TINY! Seriously, I often have to grip the remote in one hand so that I can reliably poke these buttons with the other. I honestly can't believe these buttons. - The numeric buttons at the bottom are also too close to the bottom of the remote, while the back of the remote is too flat and/or does not have enough grip. Again, single-handed number pressing is really difficult. In contrast, the TiVo remote numbers are also at the bottom, but with more space between them and the end of the remote. Also, the TiVo has a nicely curved back that hugs your palm very naturally and has ergonomic ridges that add grip. Again, the TiVo just feels like part of your hand while the Harmony feels like I'm going to drop it if I try to hit anything in the bottom few rows of buttons. - The buttons are terribly difficult to mash -- you have to push really hard on them and there is no satisfying feeling that you really pressed the button well -- not enough "action" in the buttons. The TiVo remote buttons give a nice gentle "click" that provides the perfect tactile feedback.
Those are all generic issues with the form factor. Specifically with this refurbished version, my remote has several buttons that don't seem to work at all. A few of the number buttons do nothing (programming is correct, and other numbers do work). Overall, I am very dissatisfied with this thing.
If you have TiVo and love your TiVo remote like I do, run far away from the 890. I'm going to try another one -- maybe the Harmony One. Like I said, the control over my devices (tv, receiver, dvd) seems to work well in general, which is why I give it a couple of stars. I really REALLY want to love the Harmony as much as I love my TiVo. But as a replacement for my TiVo remote, and for its abysmal form factor, the 890 is an epic fail.
UPDATE: Just got my Harmony One today and tried it out this evening. It is superior to the 890 in every possible way (unless you need RF support I guess, but that was not my main priority). In fact, they seem to have taken a cue from the TiVo remote in the One, as it has several TiVo-specific buttons on it. The layout and feel is 1,000 times better than the 890. Anyone who gave the 890 a positive review has obviously not tried the One (and should). (problems with wall charger, leather case and retractable cable) 『I bought this kit mainly for the wall charger and leather case. But these two and the retractable cable do not work with my ipod touch 3g.
First the wall charger, when plugging in, my ipod shows error "Charging is not supported with this accessory" 9 out of 10 times. It worked a few times but I am frustrated trying.
Second, the leather case has four small magnets and according other reviews they could damage your ipod. I didn't even try it on my ipod, for I can tell the magnet is strong when I put any metal close.
The retractable cable does not work either. My PC can't detect it.
Other items in the package work fine and that's why I gave it 2 stars. Do not let others naysay these cables. I'm a broadcast engineer. I do know that the less you pay for gear with equally good performance, the smarter you are. This holds true for speaker cables also. I laugh at those who say that one cable of a certain gauge is any better than another with the same gauge. Yes, speaker cables may require larger gauges for longer distances or for larger power consuming speakers. Rest assured, however, the major improvement(s) you think you're hearing with those ridiculously expensive speaker cables is the same crap the guy at the local audio video shop spews about his $[...] HDMI cables.

(These cables are great.) 『I purchased two of the 10ft HDMI cables from BargainCell on Amazon to replace some 6ft cables I bought at BestB... uh... a major electronics chain store. I paid $26 each for the 6ft cables at the big box store. I paid 79¢ each for the 10ft cables from Amazon. The picture quality is indistinguishable. I needed more length to route the cables so they weren't visible. The slim form factor of these cables is a definite plus here as they were much easier to route and hide. These cables are awesome. I would definitely buy from this seller (BargainCell) again in a heart beat.
The cables are much thinner than the cables they replaced which had big, clunky connectors and shielded braiding along the length of the cable, but there is no change in the signal quality. I have these cables hooking up a PS3 and a Motorola cable box to a Sony Bravia HDTV. The 1080p signal from the PS3 for Blu-Ray movies is absolutely incredible... exactly like the expensive cables, only 1/30th the cost!

I have never used any other HDMI cables before so I'm not sure if it would give you a different quailty of picture or not, but I know there's a big difference when I used this HDMI cable instead of the regular video cable on the PS3. So far, I only use the cable for my PS3 picture quailty and I love it. Definitely can't go wrong with this product especially with this price. Plus, I received the product very quick.
