(38 Miles from TV Tower. A definite No Go.) 『Somewhere in the product description it should say what the typical range of this antenna is. I was unable to get reception from any TV in my house. I'm 38 miles from a TV tower and that is apparently way too far for this antenna.』
(Works ok. but not very good.) 『There are a lot of variables with a product like this. I bought it to help receive HD broadcast channels since my TV couldn't pick up any on its own. I live in South Florida and am within broadcast range for all major networks so I thought I could get all broadcast stations. I do however live in a cinder block house which may effect reception. Anyway I plugged this in expecting to receive all channels in their crisp clear HD greatness but could only pick up The CW, Fox, The Religious network, and the Spanish station. Which leaves me without many of the major network broadcasts regardless of where I place the antenna. Needless to say I was disappointed that this product didn't exactly serve my needs. It is low profile and easy to hook up however. I guess I'm gonna have to spring for the HI def package from my cable provider.』
(Exactly what I hoped) 『My fear was that there would be too much interference by the location of my apartment to actually make good use of an HD antenna, but this worked out perfectly. I'm not sure what stations I'm not getting, but I am getting over 60 HD stations which include all the big broadcasters most people would gravitate to.
It worked straight out of the box, but did take some manipulating for it work as good as it does. This was primarily attaching it to the wall as high as I could. I live on the second floor of a building, so I can't say my results would be as good if I lived lower.』
(it really works!) 『This is the first antenna that picks up all my local tv channels. I am about 45 miles away from the broadcast towers and this antenna picks up every channel. Even my Philips amplified antenna did not pick up all the channels consistently under all conditions. Very happy with this purchase and i am planning to buy another one in the near future for my other TVs. They work great, and I am a happy customer.』
(Should be included with every new TV.) 『You might notice that the new TV you recently purchased does not have a headphone connection and perhaps not even sterio audio out. Reducing cost meand reducing outputs. You will need one of these, and it works great.』
(Does What It Says, But One Needs to Do Their Homework) 『As usual I learned more than I had anticipated and wished I'd known a little more before purchasing. This unit does convert optical digital into analog audio. Unfortunately it doesn't handle any of the digital TV signals that are at least broadcasting in the Philadelphia area. As stated in another review one needs to use the converter that will allow 5.1 surround sound, which is apparently what their next higher priced box will do. What is very nice is that I have a computer hooked up to the new flat screen with a HDMI cable and this Gefen converter does allow the audio to be translated very nicely into analog, along with both DVDs from the DVD and VCR players, so it's not a total loss. The sound conversion is good, but I can hear a small sound degradation in the quality. Too bad for that. Hopefully my ears will still be OK when I finally upgrade our amplifier to one that can handle infra-red technology. An additional note is that the unit does come with a 3 foot Toslink cable. The clear plastic protective lenses must be removed from each of the two ends before inserting into the converter and TV, and they are on those ends very tight, so it requires a fair amount of strength to remove them. If one is not familiar with Toslink cables they would think they are pulling much too hard to get them off, but it's necessary. I actuially did call Geffen, was connected with a support gentleman who confirmed that the clear plastic was an end protector. He was surprised though that this model had come with a cable.』
(Did not work with my hidef channels) 『Bought a new tv that only has optical audio out - wanted to connect to my Boston Acoustics TVee Powered Soundbar Speaker System with Wireless Subwoofer though the box could not handle hidef channel audio. 』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (DirecTV HR23) 『Worked great. Had an issue with DirecTV so I sent it back and canceled thier service.』
(Directv hr23receiver) 『Very fast shipping. Product performs as advertised. Menus do not appear to be any faster or slower than other models I have owned other than the Tivo HR 20.
The higher storage capacity allows recording of up to 100 hours of MPEG-4 HD or up to 400 hours of SD programming.
The front panel lights seem to be not as bright as the previous HR2x's from DirecTV. The temperature of this model is lower than other models I have owned.
I prefer this black model over my previous silver models.
So far, a good product overall.』
(Satisfied with the receiver) 『The item was as described with all cables and remote. I like the larger hard drive which gives more recording capacity. The delivery was very fast and setup with Directv was effortless.』
(Great product) 『Excellent product, shipped fast and was a new unit. The DVR software is amazing compared to the comcast/time warner software. Included HDMI cable and RF remote are also huge bonuses. Only downside is HR23 has no coaxial line out to feed an extra TV from the receiver. There are multiple outputs and all are active simultaneously so you can feed multiple TV's. All in all receiver is great.』
(Does what it should... but you might be able to save more $$$) 『I just had one of these installed as an upgrade from the regular R22 non-HD DVR. I found out during the process that there is now a software update for the old non-HD DVR that allows them to receive HD signals and that there is no other difference between them except for the extra $100 DirecTV wants you to pay for the HD box! We kept the old DVR - now HD capable - and moved it to another room. But be aware that if you only want to upgrade from the older non-HD DVR to an HD DVR that you do not have to buy a new box - just get the software update! Save the money! Aside from that the DVR works fine. It plays, it records. Couldn't live without one now that we've had a DVR so long.』 『DIRECTVs latest HD DVR receiver, the HR23. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Didn't Work) 『Didn't help my signal at all. Plus the design requires a coax cable for power input. Not worth the $$$ at all.』
(Works like a charm!) 『Highly recommend this product if you are having issues with weak signal. I bought this because I wanted a TV in my garage, but when I put a splitter on the main line before it entered my house it completely knocked out most channels on my HDTV. I was worried that this wouldn't work either since I was essentially cutting the power to my house in half, but after installing it I was thrilled with the results. I have 6 outlets in my house with cable internet and still got great results using this at the the source and splitting it to a new TV. The TV in the garage works great and all the TV's in the house work perfectly, including my HDTV and on demand services. And the product arrived in just two days to boot! Couldn't be happier.』
(as advertised) 『I use this device to boost the signal and split the cable to use with a standard cable box and a wintv pc tuner. Without it the signals would come in at about half strength and cause my cable box to drop some channels and loose quality on others. I installed this device where the cable enters the room and now the signal is full strength on both the cable box and wintv tuner. Works great and I didn't have to install it at the cable's entry point to the house.』
(Solved my HD antenna problem in Phoenix) 『I just installed this adjacent to my attic-mounted HD antenna (Winegard HD-1080) and it fixed my problem, namely, channel 3.1 in Phoenix would come in all blocky. After adding the drop amplifier near the antenna in the attic, channel 3 cleared up on both TVs. I'm a happy camper.』
(Works very well, but no power cable included) 『i got this to boost my signal for cable internet. it works very well and has also cleaned up the video quality as well.
the only thing is, if you want to be able to use this device as soon as you get it, you will either have to have an extra coaxial video cable available, or order one with the amplifier. while an ac adapter plug is included in the package, the coaxial cable needed to connect the amp and adapter is not.』 『PCT's miniature MA2 drop amplifier series has improved performance and ultra-low noise amplification of broadband signals for subscriber drop installations. Shipped in a largish outer box. Inner box looked somewhat crushed, probably when packed, but the antenna is not very delicate, so it seems OK.
The product comes in a flat box, and requires assembly: pliers etc. Not appropriate for a buyer who is not "handy", unless they have a friend to put it together. The directions are poor -- you will have to figure things out yourself. The cable connection has a confusing "weather cover" that has to be removed -- at first I thought my product was defective.
Assembled, it is 19x13 inches, and 5 to 8 inches thick. It is quite awkward for indoor use; you really need a post to mount it on. You need to be able to turn it, to aim in different directions easily.
The physical quality of construction is "adequate". It is mostly metal, and in some ways surprisingly sturdy. The bow tie prongs are bendable, and have to be bent by hand into good straight alignment.
In the Boston metro area, for years we have been using a Zenith ZHDTV1 UHF antenna ($25 from buy com 2003). It worked so-so with analog TV, well enough to live with (indoors). But the forced transition to digital OTA has been tough -- now we have a great picture, except when we have no picture, which is often: when the wind blows, when a plane passes, etc.
First I hooked up just the new little double bow-tie antenna. It seemed to work amazingly well, about as well as the old ZHDTV1. Then I added the reflector grid. The signal seemed a little better/stronger than the ZHDTV1. Now we have 3 or sometimes 4 bars (out of 5) on all the major channels. With the full new antenna, it seems maybe more directional, which means maybe having to move it for different channels?
It seems like maybe the real problem here is not signal strength, but signal quality. Time will tell if this Dtv2Buhf is really an improvement. It wasn't expensive, so it seems like a good value. The ZHDTV1 is much easier to use indoors -- nicer to look at, much easier to point, no mounting problem, and no difficult assembly involved. The Dtv2Buhf might be better flat against a window, but you'd have to be lucky enough for that to be the right direction to point it.』
(Great in-town antenna for the attic.) 『I live about 10-12 miles from the towers in my area. I put this antenna in my attic and now i get almost perfect signal on all channels. Before i was using a tv-top antenna with a booster in it, but the programming was gaping-out to despite the signal meeter showing strong signal all-the-time. Now it's clear and flawless.』
(A great antenna at a affordable price) 『This antenna is a great antenna for a small price. It receives many more stations than my old home made 4 bay coat hanger antenna. Picks up stations 45 miles away. This antenna also holds up well in a outdoor environment. I would recommend this antenna to anyone.』
(Works fine but missing one screw.) 『Like most other reviewers said, this antenna works better than I expected. I can pick up one VHF channel (4/6 bars) and all local UHF channels (6/6 bars for most channels). My house is about 20 miles from the main TV tower farm in central Iowa and there is another house totally blocking my direct line of sight to these towers, but this antenna works like there is nothing in-between my house and the towers. I even picked up a remote station in a different direction about 35 miles away from my house. Over in all, this thing should have received five stars from me if not that it came missing one screw for mast installation! I ended up just removing the whole back rack and screwing this antenna directly onto my outdoor sidings using two wood screws. Make sure you find your studs with a stud sensor before you screw them in. I found this installation more stable and less noticeable than putting a mast on my roof.』

One channel (ABC) I can't get at all. The peculiar thing is that I am only 16 miles from the broadcast tower which is on top of a mountain that is 2000 feet above me in elevation. I have the antennae aimed directly at that mountain peak. Several stations come in superbly from the same mountain peak but this one channel reports as weak or no signal. A friend down the street whose view of the mountain peak is obstructed by a hill gets all channels with a pair of old RCA amplified rabbit ears. Go figure! Without amplification, however, he gets nothing at all and he did put the rabbit ears in the attic. If you have any question at all go for a bigger antennae than this. I would only get this one if you have space restrictions. I believe that is what this antennae is designed for--------people who cannot put up a larger antennae. I did mount the antennae outside 20 feet up in the air with no obstructions. For all I know ABC may broadcast a very weak signal which may never be an issue with other geographic locations in the country.』
(TJ) 『After having my wife complain about why is your TV always breaking up like that I searched for an outside antenna to put up. By reading all the reviews this one seem to be the one. After my purchase and installation all of my once shakey local channels are rock solid. The majority of them are 40 to 50 miles away. What a buy, I would recommend this antenna.』
(Antenna review) 『The antenna was easy to instal and provides perfect reception. I am about 15 miles from the transmission towers and within direct line of sight of them. I have no way to know how well the antenna would work in more difficult reception conditions.』
(Average, maybe a little more) 『I had been using RS U-75R 15-2160 indoors until the digital transition when a few stations went back to VHF which this antenna was not designed for. As a stop gap measure, I took a pair of rabbit ears that came with one of those old TVs, rubber-band tied them to the boom of the U-75R and extended all the way at an angle around 90 degrees. Without even connecting the leads, amazingly, I got all available VHF channels.
So the rig worked but was a little clunky and that was why I hoped that the ANT751 could be an elegant replacement. It did comparably well with closer stations but was outmatched on a further VHF-13 station (<30 miles). Needless to say, I went back to my trusty old rig.
Moral of the story: do not throw away those telescope rabbit ears, you never know when you may need them.
Tip: if you need VHF out of your old UHF hardware, try my rabbit ear trick.』
(RCA ANT751) 『It works better than expected. I thought I would have to purchase an outside pole to put this antenna on, but I get great T.V. reception after installing in my attic. It also comes with the short mounting arm pictured, I wasn't expecting it to come with this. The T.v. stations are @ 30 miles from my location, I think it is a great antenna for the price. I'm very glad I did, as the unit receives ALL my available local digital broadcast channels in 720p with ease. The unit is an attractive looking and small profile, barely noticeable mounted vertically on the rear corner of my home. Best of all, it really does the job!! I avg. between 82% and 98% signal strength on over 31 digital channels - all of which are being broadcast from about 35-40 miles away. This unit is pretty darn good deal, when you consider the larger, more costly and unattractive outdoor antennas I've seen AND that it performs just about as well, too. Many of those units are either indoor only or outdoor only models - giving you less installation flexibility, both initially or if you decide to move. The built-in amp really boosts the signal noticeably and it uses only 3 watts of power, so it won't run up your electric bill either. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the unit's performance and value offered for the money. The unit was ordered and shipped within a week with free budget shipping, so no complaints there either. (Rabbit Ears vs. Philips sdv2940 antenna) 『I compared the Philips sdv2940 antenna to a standard "rabbit ears" antenna (made by RCA purchased at Walmart, $10).
I live on the bottom of a hill on the wrong side from the TV towers. I have very sketchy TV signals which are very sensitive to the orientation of the antenna.
The reception with the this antenna was NOT noticably better than using rabbit ears. I tested the signal strength through a TV tuner card in my computer. Most of the channels had very similar signal strength. The rabbit ears picked up a couple channels that the Philips antenna didn't and vica versa. There was no clear winner between the two as far as reception goes. Also the Philips antenna has to use the included powered amplifier or you get no signal at all. That said there are some compelling reasons to use the Philips antenna.
Pros: - compact design; not gangly like rabbit ears - can be mounted on a variety of surfaces, such on the wall or in a window frame or a pole, using the included mounting hardware - can be mounted outside
Cons: - no better reception than rabbit ears - costs 3x as much as rabbit ears - Must use the included inline amplifier to get any signal which requires power. This can be installed right before your TV so it isn't too much of a hassle.
Summary: Don't expect improved reception, but it is a much more compact, aesthetic and versatile way to get the same signal you can from rabbit ears.

(Great product. It srprised me) 『I tried SDV2750/27 first after read some recommendation. It worked. I did get a lot more channels. But, I didn't get the VHF channel as it advertised, and some channels are not stable. Then I tried this SDV2940/27. It is much, much better. I even get more channels. I was not a believer of amplified antenna before since I thought it aplify noise as well as signals. I had not expected it to works so well. It really surprised me. I live in down town San Jose, the the antenna find about 50 channels. 90% of them are very clear like using the cable TV. Many of them have clear 6-channel suround sound. It really worth it.
Amazon is great. I haven't got any hassel in returning the first SDV2750/27 antenna.』
(Great Antenna) 『I bought this few days ago for a friend and noticed that it was to pickup about 37 channels (near san bruno). Sadly we had to return it, as except for two or 3 channels, everything else was chinese, mexican and a bunch of boring channels. But it was so easy to set up and it was very quick in picking up all the channels.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (made the difference) 『Using this Channel Master 7777 pre-amp made all the difference for us. It is far superior to the "Shack" pre-amp I spent almost as much money on. The 7777's low 2db noise and very high 28db gain is what we needed to overcome 100 ft of coax and our 30+ mile distance to the nearest Boston towers. Once powered up, our channel count went from a spotty 15 channels to a solid 26 channels plus some others that come in on good weather days. We live in a valley with the tower obscured by the hills, plus many tall oaks and pines surrounding. Regardless, this pre-amp plus the Antennas Direct ClearStream4 antenna on the roof with a 10ft mast allows us to watch TV without a cable bill!! I would recommend this pre-amp to anyone looking to overcome internal signal losses and will be buying another one for my father-in-law (even more distant than us).』
(nearly double signal strength) 『I added this preamp to the outdoor cm 4228hd extreme antenna and went form 40% at the lowest to 100% I recieve all stations at 100% now! I am 38 miles from the transmitter site! I even pull in the low power stations that I didnt get before. Great buy!』

It was fast and easy to set up and it did give me more channels right away. Some channels that I got on first installation now no show as no signal, and people walking around in the unit above me can still affect reception, but much less.』
(Not bad, especially for the price.) 『Considering I watch maybe 1 hr of Tv per week, I really did not wish to pay for cable or satellite. But still once in a while you want to watch the news or something..so, I attached this 18-dollar wonder.
I switched the TV from cable to antenna, ran the autoprogram, and now am getting about 7 channels - including 3 PBS stations, and that is really what I want. I am also pulling in Fox 5 from DC, another DC station( Ch.20), and intermittently Fox 45 from Baltimore.
I was expecting to pull in Ch 11 NBC from Baltimore, but I live in a ground-level apartment with other buildings and trees and hills all around me.
All in all, good enough to occasionally turn the TV on while you eat. In my case I would probably not get better reception with an antenna that costs twice as much. The channels that DO come in have a very clear picture, especially MPT-HD.
And hey, no cable bill....
Update 24hrs later: picked up WHUT from DC, both SD and HD. Picture coming in crystal clear on HD ( I have a 720p set, but still..).』
(HD Antenna) 『This product significantly improved my reception compared to my old antenna, which was pretty good. Set-up could not have been easier and you eliminate those cumbersome rabbit ears. I also used this antenna to set up a new Haier portable tv. It programmed in the channels that the built-in antenna (of the Haier) could not pick up. Definitely a great value for the price. 』
(Better than I expected!) 『I had been using an old set of rabbit ears with the hoop. Reception was OK. When I got this product I was amazed at how much clearer many of the local, low power channels were. I live in an urban area so I don't know how good this would be in rural areas. Great product!』
(Great for midrange reception! Get it.) 『Very nice antenna. I had exactly like this one for ~5 years already using it with my computer HDTV first Telemann PC card, and later DVICO Fusion USB tuner. Now I got one for my new HDTV downstairs. Works great for my location (5-10 miles from transmitter antenna). I get 17 medium to strong signals of uncompressed HD TV signal. FREE! That's more than enough for me. Comparing to any satellite and cable, and even dish - this (over the air) is the BEST HD quality you can get!
Oh, and by the way, there is NO such thing like "HDTV Antenna". Some advertise it like if it is something "special" about their product - but it is all lies. They are praying on uninformed people and messing up all concept. If you have your old indoor, or outdoor TV antenna, it will work just fine with your new HDTV LCD or Plasma!!!!!! Signal may be weaker than Analog TV, or coming from different direction, and you may need to upgrade to antenna with higher sensitivity (more those cross elements on it) But TV ANTENNA IS JUST ... AN ANTENNA! If signal is strong enough - you even can use piece of aluminum, or copper wire, it will work!
So, this one is good for most city dwellers and even for suburbia people (like me). It is safe to get it. It works. And Quality of HD TV will be the best available.
Did I mentioned that those HD TV channels are FREE? ... Yepp, they all FREE!』 『This UHF antenna receives all available local digital broadcasts in full 1080i or 780p resolution. Ideal for densely populated urban areas. The weighted base is easy to position and is excellent for physical stability.』

Note that the antenna comes with a passive circuit board which is replaced when you add the preamplifier. Both the passive circuit board and preamplifier lack any mechanical strength for the coax threaded barrel connector. While my experience was directly related to a design flaw of the preamplifier, this scenario would have played out the same had I left the original passive circuit board in the antenna. My experience, and why I recommend you do NOT purchase this antenna: When it was time to transfer to antenna to the permanent mast I attempted to release the coax cable downlead (hex nut on threaded barrel) which snapped off the connector. I examined the circuit board of this antenna to see if it could be repaired, and discovered that the threaded barrel connector was simply a few solder joints on the circuit board - there is no mechanical strength to this design at all! BEWARE. First, if you haven't purchased this product, then DO NOT. If you have purchased it, you will need to attach your coax connector VERY CAREFULLY and NEVER attempt to remove it in the future. You must ASSUME that if you have need to change out the coax cable for any reason the connector will NOT come off the antenna. Therefore, you will have to CUT the cable and reterminate (thus adding a signal loss by splicing). If I hadn't already discarded the shipping package, receipt, etc., I would attempt to return this product.』
(No problems after six months) 『I wanted a small and easy to install outdoor antenna for OTA DTV. I decided on the CM 3010 and bought Channel Master's chimney mount kit and mast. I bought the mast from an Amazon Associate and was not pleased with the packing because they didn't put enough tape on the ends and when I received the package one end was open (probably from the mast ramming the end of the box during shipping). The only thing in the box was the mast and I don't know if anything fell out. But it was a mast so how much more could there have been in there?
The antenna requires some assembly but it isn't too difficult as the instructions are fairly clear.
I installed this antenna right next to a satellite antenna I installed using a similar chimney mounting kit. I'm about 25 miles from the most of the broadcast towers in the area and I just pointed it in the right direction using a Silva compass. The 3010 is light and not too hard to handle so I'd say it's reasonable for someone to install it without helpers (I did).
The cable attaches to the bottom so a good connector probably makes a difference and it is sealed by a weather boot which will be hard to put on if the cable has a connector on it. I ran some RG6 coax to the antenna, slipped on the boot then attached an LRC connector to the cable. No problem if you have the tools and parts. After that I just had to screw the connector on and slide the boot into position.
If someone is concerned about appearance it is a nice antenna because it isn't too big and doesn't have much of an antenna look. Sitting next to the sat dish it doesn't stand out. If it's mounted low it won't stand out much because of it's flat profile.
The resulting television picture is very nice with good signal strength. I have not noticed any problems with reception (except in the case when I tried it with an inexpensive DTV adapter box and the problem there was probably the adapter itself because it isn't all that great with any antenna I've tried). Great reception when the 3010 is attached to a Channel Master 7000 adapter box. It's a VHF/UHF antenna so there are no issues with high and low band VHF (it covers 2 through 69 so that's the full range, but note it's range is 30 miles for UHF and 45 miles for VHF/FM). Someone I know who lives about 10 miles from the broadcast location has the same antenna and reported great performance.
Although it doesn't seem to perform noticeably better than the twenty year old Winegard UHF/VHF/FM antenna in the attic, it consumes a LOT less space. I like it enough I'm considering purchasing a second one with an eave mount rather than mess with a distribution amp.
If someone is having problems with a 3010 at distances of less than 30 miles from the towers and with minimal tall structures in the line-of-sight that might be causing multipath interference I suggest checking the wiring of the "wings" onto the circuit board in the body of the antenna. If those receiving elements weren't connected when it was assembled performance will suffer. And if the connector wasn't installed on the cable with a coax stripper and a compression/crimp tool that matches the connector it might be good to check that part of the cable.

(WORKS FOR ME) 『I live in a difficult area. Nashville's towers are spread about 75 degrees apart, I live on the bottom floor, and the rest of the building shields my living room from the towers. I don't have access to the roof or an attic. However, I was able to mount this antenna on a tripod stand about 8' above my patio. While there are some new UHF stations which I can't get, most of these are preachers. I get all the VHF stations, and all the UHF I need. Perhaps, if I lived further from the towers, I would need the amplifier, but this antenna works for me as is.』
(Good value for the money) 『We purchased this to supplement our digital t.v. service. We had tried several brands of indoor antennas, but because of the distance from the closest main city we were unable to use them and wanted a smaller size antenna that we could install in our attic, this antenna was the answer for us. It works great, was easy to install and was small enough to install in our attic with out wasting precious storage space.』
(Channel Master 3010) 『Channel Master 3010 cannot receive UHF high band stations (channels 7-13)even line of sight and 12 miles from broadcast tower!』 『The Channel Master 3010 Outdoor Rooftop Antenna receives digital and analog UHF/VHF TV signals, plus FM radio. It has a 45-mile range for VHF and FM broadcasts, and 30 miles for UHF. This antenna has a 30-inch turning radius if used with an antenna rotor.』
