『I spent 4 hours on Christmas morning assembling this thing for my kid. I'm 31 and grew up with transformers. I also worked on jets for the Air Force so I consider myself mechanically competent. This thing is in a whole new realm of complication. I searched YouTube for advice because the written instructions were hopeless. Finally a teenage kid's video post helped me assemble it. Even then it was incredibly challenging. 4 hours and I finally assembled it! But it didn't roll. Its a GD truck and it doesn't roll. The hood stayed together for about 2 minutes before it popped apart. So now its a Transformer that doesn't transform. Since it couldn't roll like a truck, I had to transform it back.

Bottom line: They bit off more than they could chew. Bravo to the engineers but boo to the testers.』

(Not Really a Good Gift for Little Kids)

『While this toy is very detailed and good for older kids (like toy collectors), it's way too complicated to transform for probably any kid under 10 years old. Even with the pictured instruction sheet, I had to search for and watch a You Tube video on how to transform it from the robot to a truck (comes in robot form out of the box). My 4-year old only played with it only once or twice while he was watching the movie on DVD.』

(Good, but no bio-lume)

『My son loves this toy, but it advertised that it was glow in the dark, and it isn't. Apparently those are coming out later but the packaging didn't bother to explain that.』

(Cute, but I expected more.)

『Why I am qualified to speak: I have been collecting action figures since the first Star Wars figures back in the 1970s. I have thousands of 1:18 action figures (literally THOUSANDS).

I Paid $[...] for this figure (movie pre-release sale [...]) and feel that it is about $2 over-priced. I see that they are now $[...] to $[...] at various stores and that price is way over the value mark. Pick this up at $5 or less when they go on clearance (I can't imagine people will buy tons of these at $10 a pop).

It appears that this character is released in the same quantities as all of the other characters and is not short packed, ALTHOUGH, some stores received different types of cases with different contents. I saw a freshly stocked endcap at Wal-mart and all characters had at least 4 representatives. Neytiri had 6, Na'vi Jake had more than 10.

The good:
-Pretty 2-tone paint scheme. You can't tell it is Neytiri, but you can tell it is Na'vi and female.
-The arms are jointed at the elbows. As thin as the arms are, it is nice to see them get elbow joints instead of the stiff, one-piece arms many female characters get (Uhura).
-The loin cloth has the loop for the tail (Cute detail).
-This figure will stand out in any 1:18 collection and is the best of the Na'vi bunch.

The bad:

SCALE:
-I wish all the various companies would settle on a standard 1:18 scale for their figures and then honor that scale with acute attention to detail. This figure stands almost eye to eye with GI Joe Heavy Duty (just a bit taller). And the Na'vi characters are not nearly tall enough to be on scale with the AVATAR human figures, either. She is tall but not tall enough.

-The figure's head and face are too small for the body (tiny, human eyes).

-The figure has cankles... necessary (maybe) for articulation, but they ruin the shape and flow of the leg.

ARTICULATION
- GI Joe and Star Wars (Hasbro) have mastered articulation so it confounds me why everyone else keeps putting out lesser joint attempts. Neytiri has all of the major joints, but they are fragile and cheap. I don't think there is any metal anywhere in the figure so I wouldn't put money on the joints not wearing out.

-The tail is not articulated and is stuck out to the side.

ACCESSORIES

- The bow and arrow are cast as one piece and are always in the drawn position. Unfortunately, there are no other accessories.
- The base doubles as an I-cam ID 3D thing that doesn't interest me (requires an app install which I won't contaminate my PC with).

CONCLUSION:

I like this figure and I'll keep it as a curiosity but I am not interested in getting the rest of the series due to the low production quality, low detail, and inaccurate scale (not to mention the ridiculous price). There is no way I would let my children play with this due to the joint frailness.

(Pretty cool figure, but not perfect)

『Neytiri was my favorite character in the movie, so she was among the first Avatar toys I bought. Of course, it didn't look much like her, but that's because Neytiri is 10 feet tall in the movie.

Pros: I've got to say that she is very detailed: her hair and bracelets and feathers are very intricately sculpted. Almost every joint is articulated two or three different ways, meaning she is very poseable.

Cons: The tiny articulated joints feel easy to break. Her tail doesn't turn, so it gets in the way when I try to make her sit on the Navi banshee creature. I almost broke her tail off because I thought it did turn (everything else is articulated). The loincloth gets in the way, too. I spent a long time trying to pose her on the banshee, but no success. Also, she does not have the Bio-Lume glow in the dark spots advertized on the website. At the i-Tag site, it says that version of the figure is "coming soon." It is also quite expensive for its size (maybe that's because of the i-Tag).

I can't review the i-Tag part because I don't have a webcam and cannot use it. It looks pretty cool, though.

The final word: This figure is probably best for adult collectors, because it doesn't seem tough enough for kids to play with.』

『I thought this toy would be cool but it's really not. My son does not have the patience to do all the steps to launch it. And when you finally do launch it... well it's not really a launch but a slow roll - which I guess is what you need for this game. But it's easier just to roll it yourself. It also does not launch from the wrist as the picture might suggest. You have to lay it flat. Not sure why you would put it on your wrist at all. Don't see the point of this toy and I recommend you put your money toward an actual bakugan then this. Pretty much a waste of money.』

He loves the idea of it, but it's complicated to attach all the pieces together and absolutely requires following the instructions to do so (not quite so easy for a 6 year old). Once the instructions were lost, so was the ability to rebuild the dragonoid. Also, one of the pieces broke on the first day. However, it didn't break in a way that prevented building the dragonoid. He generally plays with all the pieces as individual traps.』

Get In On the Bakugan Craze
For those who are unfamiliar, Bakugan is an inventive strategy game based on the popular anime TV series, "Bakugan: Battle Brawlers." It pits a variety of "Bakugan warriors" against each other for points. The Bakugan themselves are magnetic, spring-loaded marbles that -- when exposed to a metal "gate card" -- burst open to reveal a fearsome warrior.

The mission of the Bakugan strategy game is to capture the opponent's metal gate cards. This is achieved by rolling your Bakugan warriors onto these cards and doing battle with defending enemy Bakugan. The game involves a surprising amount of strategy, and features various tactical cards and trap pieces that help protect your Bakugan warriors.

Room for the Imagination
This game combines skill (aiming your Bakugan) with strategy (placement of the cards). Players also enjoy the way the warriors pop open on the magnetic cards -- although sometimes they do it even when they don't land on the cards. Players unfamiliar with the TV show, may feel a little lost at first in the world of Bakugan. But with the help of the colorful, animated Bakugan Web site, they will get what the game is about and how to play.

Even without the official strategy game, Bakugan toys are enjoyable and can be played with like regular action figures. Fans of the show will like role-playing as one of the various characters, such as the fiery 12-year-old leader "Dan" or the wise "Marucho."

Maxus Dragonoid Expands Your Bakugan Collection
This particular set contains one Bakugan warrior (named Neo Dragonoid) and six Bakugan traps (Grakas Hound, Dark Hound, Grafias, Brachium, Spitarm and SpyderFencer.) These pieces can be combined together to form the massive Maxus Dragonoid monster. The transformation process is a bit complicated, but the set includes clear instructions that make assembly easy. The assembled Dragonoid is a unique toy, although a bit unwieldy -- if not positioned correctly, he will easily fall down.

Each of the seven Bakugan that compose Dragonoid can be used individually in the strategy game. Avid players will be happy to know that this set also includes a special ability card, which will come in handy when you're devising a strategy to topple your enemy. Just keep in mind that, in order to play Bakugan properly, you'll need several other Bakugan marbles/cards that are not included in this package. Kids who are new to Bakugan might be better off with one of the various starter packs.

Ready, Aim, Fire!
There are no instructions with the optional Bakugan Launcher, which is made of sturdy, lightweight plastic. But it's a straightforward accessory: simply load the Bakugan and fire away! There are two additional Bakugan compartments on either side of the launcher. The wrist strap is a great accessory that your child can use to help steady the launcher as he fires.

Exciting Magnetic Action
The Bakugan Launcher has three shooting modes ("curve," "angle, and "distance"). It holds three Bakugan, and straps to your child's wrist -- just like Dan's! Though kids can roll the Bakugan just like marbles, the Launcher adds an element of excitement to their Bakugan battles.

Room for the Imagination
Though we thought the launcher was a great accessory, but our attempts to fire it proved somewhat difficult. Instructions would have helped. If you and your child can figure it out how to fire it effectively -- especially how to use the three shooting modes -- the launcher is sure to increase their enjoyment of the game and add variety to their play.
