(Great creative toy for kids)

『I purchased this easel for my 4 year old as a gift, knowing that her 8 year old sister would also want to use it. The variable height feature is a big plus! This easel is easy to put together and it is sturdy. I love that it is able to be used with 3 different types of materials (to start with), chalk, dry erase, and paint. I would recommend this easel to others!!』

『I looked at a lot of websites for the best easels, and this easel from Melissa&Doug always came up #1, so I decided to get it for my 4 year old daughter. She has used it every day since we bought it! I think they must have fixed the chalkboard problem since most of the other reviewers comments, because chalk writes fine on this one. I love the fact that it has 3 height settings and can be adjusted as my daughter gets older. I also highly recommend the easel companion set that comes with paint, spill-proof paint jars (which is a big plus), paint brushes, chalk, dry erase marker, and eraser. My only complaint is about the eraser, it doesn't really erase the marker completely and I have to use a wet paper towel to completely clean the dry erase board (not a big deal). I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an easel for their child.』

『This was my 2 year old daughter's favorite toy from Christmas. She plays with it at least twice a day, distributing cookies to
everyone. She always wears the oven mitt and yells out cookies anyone? It is great that they put velcro on the bottoms of
each one to stick to the sheet. What a great idea.』

『I purchased this for our 2 year old daughter last November and she loved it. It does encourage creative play. However, she also likes to put the cookies in her mouth and bite them and after reading about the unsafe barium levels and the Canadian recall yesterday I got rid of the entire thing today and told my daughter it was "broken" so she would understand why one of her favorite toys was all of a sudden missing. I am also getting rid of our other M+D food group toys and replacing it with wooden food by PLAN toys, which are organic and NOT made in China. They sell a great selection on Amazon. Both PLAN toys and GREEN TOYS are fantastic companies with no bad chemicals (the usual list) and they are made in Thailand and US, respectively. Very disappointing to hear this about M+D but not surprising in the least considering all their toys now come from China.』

『The toy looks really cute and would encourage a bunch of motor and social skills, but I was so upset to find out that it was recalled in Canada for high barium levels. The recall occurred in November and included sets purchased from Nov 2008-Nov 2009. I purchased the set in late Novemeber from Amazon. Here's a web address with the info: [...]. Reading further on it, it seems that the US standards are the same, but we use a different testing method. I couldn't give it away as a gift knowing about the recall, so I returned it. It taught me to really do my research before purchasing toys.』

(A Fun Gift for the Grandchildren)

『This is a well made and well thought out product. Our granddaughters have a great time making bracelets.』

『My daughter received this kit for Christmas, and has really enjoyed making bracelets. The kits comes with a full rainbox of colors, and the instructions are easy to follow. The addition of beads makes things a little more messy and complicated, but the end result is worth it. A great gift for girls between the ages of 6-15.』

『This is a really great bracelet-making kit. My 6 year old picked it up very quickly, and it makes some really amazing patterns (hearts, flowers, several variety of stripes and checkerboards). It takes about 5-10 minutes to get a new bracelet "set up" on the loom (that's the only somewhat hard part) but then once you get going on the weaving it's very quick and easy. My daughter had tried some other bracelet making kits (the kinds with only string and instructions) but she would forget where she was in the pattern, get knots in the string, etc. This kit makes it much easier for her make very intricate patterns. She loves it! Can't tell how durable it will be yet, but I think it will be fine. It's worth it to spend the money for the kit with 2 square looms and 2 round looms to get a wider variety of patterns.』

Bake Up Something Good
The Slice and Bake Cookie Set features a dozen cookies that are packaged in a cardboard tube that looks just like a tube of cookie dough from the grocery store. Because they're held together with Velcro, the cookies slide out in one piece. Use the wooden toy knife to "slice" the cookies apart -- the Velcro makes a satisfying slicing sound when it separates.

The child can then place the cookies on the cookie sheet and pretend the cookies are baking, making sure to hold the "hot" cookie sheet with the oven mitt once they're done. (Note that the toy kitchen utensils are not meant for use with real food or with real kitchen appliances.)

Once the cookies are done baking, it's decorating time! The 12 "vanilla" and "chocolate" frosting pieces attach to the cookies with Velcro. They are painted with different, yummy looking sprinkles, candy pieces, and icing patterns, so your child can create a variety of different looking cookies. After the decorating is done, your child can serve them up with the included wooden toy spatula.

Perfect for preschool-age children, this toy not only offers plenty of opportunity for imaginary play, it also helps small kids exercise their motor skills. Our preschool-age tester found it challenging, yet fun, to slice the cookies apart. The Slice and Bake Cookie Set definitely has plenty of pieces, so we were glad to find that the cardboard tube is big enough to contain both the cookies and the toppings, making cleanup and organization much easier.
