『Lotta' fun for the kid just starting to get into Lego. Very easy build for 5 yr. old on up.
Comes with 4 clones (one new issue Clone Gunner), blaster pistols and extra accessories plus a simple but nicely put together mini Clone Walker(legs somewhat poseable) with flick-fire missiles. Good starter.

(This design is embarrassing.)
『This is without a doubt the worst design I have experienced from Lego. It's so poor I'm embarrassed for them. I was a faithful Lego lover in the 80's when I was a child, and am now enjoying them again with my son. We have nearly every Lego Star Wars and Indiana Jones set and most of them are decently thought out constructions, this one however, is not (the Temple of Doom is a poor design too, stay away from that set also).

Many of the large pieces and even sections are held together by just one or two Lego dots, if you gently lift and rotate it to an upside down position, or attempt to carefully transport it, there is little chance it will hold together. You may have been lucky to have gotten pieces that fit slightly more tightly than our set, when held upside down ours definitely slips apart. My son was not able to put this set together, and I enjoyed putting it together about as much as I have enjoyed constructing tedious models.

This set is not designed to the standard that I expect Lego to maintain. There is a reason why Lego is more expensive than Mega Blocks or any other Lego impostor, and it's because they have maintained a high standard over the years. This set is not at that standard. The only good thing about this set is that it does come with a lot of figures. The catapult is pretty good also.

Unless your child absolutely must have these figures I suggest spending your money on another set.』

『There is nothing like seeing your kids busily playing with lego!
I highly recommend this toy. My girls play with the other lego sets but they loved the little female touches on this one- "lights" that can be used as a "chandelier" or an outside lamp post, why they made a restaurant out of theirs, creating a buffet area, kitchen, dining area using their imagination and the legos creatively! Wonderful toy!』

LEGO has been aimed at boys for years, but it is time the sets were designed and marketed for girls.』

『This was a gift for my daughter's fourth birthday. The box of LEGOs comes with loads of basic building blocks plus a horse, person, wheels, and several other components to build cars, houses, flowers, etc. There is also an instruction booklet to help your child get building. Even my daughter can look at the pictures and figure out what pieces she needs although she may not always get them put together correctly. There is one flat, building platform included but I think LEGO should have included a couple more of the building platforms. I really like that the lid snaps closed as there are a lot of small pieces that can easily spill everywhere if the box is knocked over. This is a great gift to get your child's imagination going and to foster creativity. At first, she didn't really know where to start as there are so many pieces but we sat down and started building and now she can build tons of things on her own. She will pull the box out on her own (without any suggestion on my part) and get to work. She delights in showing me what she has made. Overall, I think this is a basic, great gift that will help your child develop her spatial concepts and a further understanding of how the concepts of symmetry and gravity work (e.g., a table needs 4 legs to stay standing, a house needs 4 walls to build a roof across the top, etc.). If anything, it will augment your child's fine motor skill coordination. Overall, this is a winner toy.』

『LEGO's are a classic gift! My son just loves them. This box is very nice for holding them in one place and is easy for him to open it. It's the ultimate starting pack for children :) Like it ALOT!』

(Good Starter Set, but could use another large plate.)
『This is a great first set. Duplo blocks are Lego's larger toddler blocks, so the smallest piece is an over-sized 2x2 block.

I would suggest buying one of the big green base plates along with this set. LEGO Large Green Building Plate (15" X 15") This set has only the one smallish green building plate to build on which limits what you can build. We had to be creative to build houses, stairs or anything requiring a large base.

Included in this set is a smallish green base, a car frame and a lego man as well as a nice variety of building blocks. The storage bin is very durable and easy for adults to open but a challenge for most toddlers. One odd thing about this set is that many of the colors are kind of muted rather than the bright, vivid colors most of us associate with a basic lego starter set--this surprised me, but didn't bother my toddler at all.

I think the base plate is supposed to work with both Duplo and standard Legos, but I'm not sure. I think Duplo blocks are supposed to connect into the standard legos, too--although I don't know many older kids that would want to do that.』

(Great Starter Set)
『My twin three year olds have really taken to this set in recent months and it has really brought out their creativity. They have built me all manner of houses, trains, tracks, cars, aeroplanes and schools and even Kenya. I love their pride as they explain to me what they have built. I also love that they are able to play together quietly for more than 5 minutes with this toy. The box makes storage and clean up time easier. I wish that there were more bricks and more wheels and a bigger base plate but the real beauty of this toy is that you can add to it to suit your needs.』

『This set is smooth, attractive, and durable. They are the perfect size and 60 is an adequate number for building nice structures. The shapes are also varied enough to make building interesting. I highly recommend this set if you're looking for a set to last throughout your kids' childhood years.』

("Blocks "A forever toy!")
『I am a "Grandma to four " and bought two sets of these blocks for each family of grandchildren. They are solid, fun and educational--best of all no batteries needed. They greatly complement our wooden train sets. We have hours of fun building towns etc. and get our creative juices flowing.』

(Expensive but not much fun)
『I bought this because of the good reviews. However, this is one of the few purchases that my experience is way different than the review.

1. For $45, my 3 year old played with it for 15 minutes then moved on to old toys. The blocks in the heavy huge and to me very unnecessary wooden box is just too few and too boring. There is not much you can create with the few pieces of blocks.
2. Way over priced. $45 for 15 minutes of fun? I love most baby toys. This is the one I really have no interest at first (second and third) glance.
3. A small incidence - One block my son knocked down fell on my toe. I was in severe pain for 10 seconds. Imagine it fell on your baby's toe/finger.

If you don't care paying $45 and you buy 10 sets of these, I can imagine this is totally fun. You can build a few projects with the piece. But definitely one box gives you not much to excite about.

BTW, I have to complement the quality of the wood. Very smooth, sturdy and beautiful』

『I'm not a big fan of Melissa and Doug in general and think Plan Toys are generally better designed and have a nicer, clean look. Also, I know Melissa and Doug have had recalls (I think there was a stacking train with bad paint), and that a lot of their toys are manufactured in China (including said stacking train).

But I figured, hey, unit blocks are pretty simple and require little design input, they're unpainted, and Melissa and Doug have a box of 60 for $ [...] (the Plan Toys pack was smaller, more expensive and didn't come with a nice storage box) -- they can't mess this up, can they? YAY!! They didn't! They're awesome!

Also, I don't know if this will hold true for M&D unit blocks in the future, but the box I got said it was manufactured in Thailand (like Plan Toys). Double YAY!
