I like the fact that this model comes with 2 different parts for open-canopy and close-canopy. This is important because some models canopy parts don't fit right if you try the opposite as "shown on the box".
This model is not very difficult to assemble. It is, however, a bit of challenge to paint, if you want the aircraft to look like to picture on the box. The weathering effect will bring the artist out of you (e.g. the rust, paint peeling off, gun powder dust, engine exhaust).
Overall, the detail is good, one complaint on the detail is that you can see though the cockpit to the ground, as there is a opening near the flaps. To overcome this, I put a tape over the opening, and paint over it. Not sure what the design team was thinking of.
Had a great time build it, and would recommend this model. While building it, read a bit of history on the AVG. 』
(good model for starters) 『This model is pretty simple and comes with good instructions, so although it was my first, I finished putting it together in only one afternoon. The thing to remember is that the pieces are molded from thin green plastic, so if you want the model to look good and fit nicely you need to buy good modeling cement and paint. The paint colors needed for this model are not listed, so here they are:
flat black aluminum tan light brown yellow red (for nose of plane- if painted like the "Flying Tigers") olive drab gray (if painted the like the US army) light blue (if painted like the "Flying Tigers" or British army) ***it would have helped me a lot to know the paint colors in advance, I didn't have the red for the nose of the plane, so I had to use nail polish for the job instead***』
(Model Builder) 『This is an old kit, dating 30+ years old. There are some fit problems and gaps when joining the fuslage to the wings. Compared to the modern manufacturers versions of the P-40, this kit still stands the test of time and can hold its own, especially for the price. You get decals for the U.S. AAF, RAF, and the Flying Tigers. I did the Flying Tigers scheme and painted the kit RAF colours, because that was where they were supposed to go before being diverted to China and the AVG. Historically, the AVG just left the aircraft in their RAF colours and applied Chinese markings. I'm sure that the aftermarket afficiandos can make this a better kit, but it a good kit out of the box and a good kit to start younger people with just entering the modeling hobby.』 『1:48 scale. My wife bought me this game for my birthday 2 days ago and my 14 year old, 10 year old and I have played it a dozen times since then. There are alternate directions for the Donkey Kong portion of this game. Included are a spinner, 4 Mario game pieces and a Donkey Kong and Pauline piece. The spinner is broken into two colored sections, one tells you how many "girders" you are to move and the other how many spaces up your Mario moves on your turn. This adds a new and fun twist since pushing the Mario into the girders can also un-balance the tower and cause a fall. In the alternate rules, you win by either having your Mario reach the top first or having the highest Mario when the tower topples. Almost needless to say, you can always play by the original Jenga rules. I think the pink girders on the black pieces is a great look to the game. The only weakness i see is that the Mario pieces may be a bit "fragile." For any regular game, the square token with a plastic peg backing would be fine, but the nature of Jenga is that the pieces fall and bang against each other...which may lead to a broken Mario peg after some time.』

(Black NXT or White NXT ...) 『... it all spells fun! I am one of those boys that never grew up and left toys behind. As a child, LEGOs were never in the picture; but, all of that changed 10 years ago when I stumbled into the world of LEGO Mindstorms RDS. Since then it has been a steady progression from Mindstorms RCX 1.0 thru 2.0, then a backwards regression to the previous Cybermaster set, forward again with the LEGO Dark Side and Droid kits, Spybotics, and now the Mindstorms NXT 1.0, 2.0 sets, and special 10th Anniversary NXT. The best part is putting the RCX and NXT technologies together into single robotics and mechanical devices using delivered sensors and actuators, second source devices, as well as devices that I have built myself.
I cannot think of a single toy that has a bigger bang for the buck than Lego Mindstorms from electrical and mechanical engineering standpoint, learning tool, and a great diversion away from stupid video games. Best of all, it is some thing that all boys from 6 to 100 will enjoy. (Sorry kids, I view video games as fodder for the brain dead!)』

(Lego Black NXT brick review) 『I bought this item really as just to have it as a souvenir to celebrate my time as a Lego Robotics coach at the Arthur S. Somers School in Brooklyn. From December of 2008 to March of 2009 I mentored a team of Junior High School students to prepare for a competition in the First Lego League Climate Connections Challenge. We won a medal for best Robot design in the event held at Brooklyn Polytechnic University on January 10th 2009; this got us a spot in the New York City finals at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on March 7th 2009. There we came in 20th place out of 72 teams.
The only thing different about this NXT brick is the color. Other than that it has the same functionality as the white NXT brick. The black brick however looks really cool when you build it into a project. I had so much fun learning about Lego Mindstorms, it is very cool toy that can inspire and stimulate the intellect in the areas of structural engineering as well as computer programming. 』

(Great Toy!) 『I collect the E-Z Build line, and of the 20 or so available in the line, this model is probably the most challenging to put together. I really enjoy assembling this model, the accuracy is great for a toy&I love how the E-Z Builds don't require glue. The overall value is great considering the inexpensive price.』
(Clunky and not at all authentic) 『Color scheme is all wrong as the plane uses the white cowl and wheel covers never used on the Baron's plane, though the ident crosses are correct. The wings attach using screws and large, thick clunky lugs on the struts that detract from the over-all look of the plane (which is why all of the pics of the E-Z build planes are taken from above). Build time is more like an hour, not five minutes as advertised. If you are looking for an accurate model of this plane, this ain't it. Check out the Revell Germany 1:28 scale kit, or any other of the glue kits available for an accurate display model.
That said, this is a great toy for kids, and might get them interested in the history of aviation as it's something different from all of the jet toys out there. It is, also, a good introduction to model building (with adult help and supervision reccomended) as no glue or painting is necessary. I bought a dozen of the EZ plane kits at Christmas time for our local "Santa Cops" program and they were glad to get them, and word is that they were well received.
So, bottom line is--Good display model: no; great toy for kids:yes』
