(Final Fantasy dance remixes?! Yikes...)
『But it's not all bad! This compilation essentially has three sides: dance remixes, alternate versions, and unreleased outtakes.

The dance remixes, quite honestly, are awful. They sound nothing like the originals as they don't even contain samples or excerpts of the original songs, and the music is cheesy 90's dance, like something corny DJ's would play at wedding receptions. The only decent remix however would be the Megamix, as it basically samples a bunch of tunes recognizable by anyone who's played FF IV, from which most of this originates I believe.

The alternative versions, however, are great. The orchestral versions of Prologue and Theme Of Love sound much more epic with organic instruments, and totally prove that Nobuo's skills as a composer are timeless and just as relevant today as they were almost twenty years ago. Mambo De Chocobo, which is a little gawdy, is still very interesting and pretty fun to hear; it's pretty amusing how the general melody can be used for so many different styles of music, very impressive.

The unreleased outtakes, what I was mostly after, are truly worth getting this for. They're great, and I really don't see why they didn't make it onto the original sound tracks for the games (which ones in the series in particular I have no idea because unfortunately there are no liner notes except for song/remixing credits).
I also found out, after I purchased this compilation, that the 'unreleased' items featured within were actually released on other CD's, which to me at least makes this collection a little less impressive. Also, the crappy remixes and the lack of substantial linter notes make it a bit less than what I expected, hence my rating.

But all the same, it's definitely worth a listen for fans of early FF (but I can't say the price Amazon is charging for a copy is very ideal; I'd suggest looking elsewhere, as I had).

(Final Uselessness)
『Dean Cain made a pretty cool Superman in Lois&Clark, and he did okay in an episode of Smallville. In general
this movie reminded me of "Red Dawn" in the rebellion stages and so forth, "Red Dawn" was much better. It was really hard to believe that this story took place in a galaxy far away and all that, every scene outside looked Canadian or northern US. I will probably avoid any more Dean Cain movies after seeing this one. Seemed like a lot of bit part semi-stars that I see in a lot movies and TV shows, but it really lost me. It was really cheap and used and I forced myself and my brother to sit through it to the end. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone who really enjoys sience fiction.』

(One of the best movies I've seen in a LONG time!)
『I loved Starship Troopers and many other movies that have no notariety at all, and now I'll be adding this movie to that list. If you like "b" sci-fi movies, then this one will be right down your alley! Sure the acting isn't top par, but the sets and CGI make up for any of that. Worth a watch if you like these kind of movies, but if all you like are the multimillion dollar movies such as the StarWars franchise, then pass on it.』

(For fans of 'Lois and Clark')
『I liked this movie, but truthfully I think what I liked the best was seeing Jimmy Olson and Clark Kent from an alternate universe. NOT that I am saying that this is what the movie is about, but I think for fans of 'Lois and Clark' that is what you might be thinking in the back of your mind.』

(rubbish)
『possibly the worst film i have ever seen. do not buy it it is rubbish. looks like it has been filmed by a bunch of 10 year olds.』

(This movie. My Soul Bleeds.)
『... The grotesque dialogue and meandering plotline offer nothing to the viewer more than possible gastro-intestinal problems. This is not even a film that could entice fans of "quality" B-flicks for the sake of amusement. I, personally, enjoyed the Evil Dead series, Killer Klownz from Outer Space and eagerly anticipate watching Sgt. Kabuki-man, NYPD. I'm not certain I could watch this movie again even if shown as part of an Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode (which I enjoy also). ...

That said, it's a sci-fi flick without any coherant plot wherein even the slightly well-known actors display acting skills on par with the last elementary-school play you've been to. I sincerely believe that any actor of any standing in this movie was blackmailed to appear in it. If you want comparatively quality movie-watching, watch USA-network movies, the series VIP or any porno you can think of....』

(awesome)
『the movie is really good, and it came really fast, anyone who's looking for a good highlander movie, you should get this one.』

(Duncans worst nightmare)
『Duncan would have taken this evil "kell" out a long time ago if he was on the series. because duncans the best. over 627 heads for this guy. duncans 174 huh.

Duncan should of had more heads than him. anyhow duncan was scared a little but in the end we know what will happen. what about methos? he's an immortal? he should of been fighting in this show too. anyhow the worst nightmare was duncan could of lost his head. good overall show.』

(Better than the second movie)
『This was better than the second movie, which didn't fit very well with the Highlander saga. I thought they redeemed themselves with this one by making it fit with the first movie. I liked the characters and the storyline and was pleased that they paid attention to what happened in the first movie, and the series that spun from it. The swordsmanship and special effects were both exciting.』

(Best HL "sequel" yet, falls short of Series)
『This movie came out in when I was about 13 and a huge fan of Highlander: The Series and the original movie that spawned the entire franchise. History, swordplay, martial arts, philosophy, and good principal actors. To this day I have fond memories of being entertained by the HL franchise.

Endgame is the third of four sequels to the original movie, none of which can truly be called sequels. Highlander II: The Quickening betrays the premise of the original movie, Highlander III: The Sorcerer returns to the premise but ignores the Series (which ignores the events of the original movie, but not the premise), aside from being a mediocre imitation of the original. The Series, on the other hand, is where the whole franchise reaches its zenith and, in my opinion, surpasses the original film in scope, with a rich mythos and a world of interesting characters.

Endgame doesn't reach the heights of the best of the series, but isn't as bad as its worst episodes. All in all, it can be seen as a high budget, feature length episode of the series. Thematically, everything in the movie (besides a storyline featuring Connor) has been played out more or less in the series. The flashbacks are convincing but, again, not nearly as compelling as the best of the series. The story arch and mythos could only be appreciated by fans of the franchise, so by itself it has little strength.
The movie also falls short of its own potential; the original script and alternate cuts reveal a somewhat different movie.

By itself, it is far better than many sci-fi cult movies, but the best of Highlander is the best of the series. If Davis and Panzer ever wish to make a feature film that rivals the series, somebody needs to seriously reflect on what made the franchise successful in the first place.

The DVD itself is high quality and highly entertaining, though. It includes an entire alternate cut and interesting production features. The soundtrack is also quite good--I made a point of re-purchasing it this year after losing my original copy.』

(Please, STOP Writing about Endgame, this movie is NOT that one!)
『Okay first off, this movie is NOT the endgame one where connor and duncan arein it together, this is the one where the original highlander and his son are in it. the mongol guy, Caine, (Mario Van Peebles), breaks his katena, blah blah. do just a LITTLE research, GAWD.』
『One must assume that Christopher Lambert signed a contract forcing him to make this second sequel to the 1986 cult filmHighlander. Unless he was paid an enormous amount of money, there is no explanation for his appearance in this abysmal movie. The original feature, which was graced with the presence of Sean Connery, was a critical yawn but attracted a cult following on the strength of its supernatural story line. Anoverproduced and muddled sequelfollowed, as well as asyndicated TV seriesand avideo flick spliced together from the series. One would think audiences had had enough of this clansman who can die only if decapitated. This installment begins 400 years ago, when Lambert is in Japan perfecting his swordsmanship with the aid of another immortal, a wizard who soon loses his head to a scenery-chewing Mario Van Peebles. The ebb and flow of warring energies cause the wizard's cave to close in on itself, sealing the evil Peebles inside a mountain for four centuries. Flash to the present: Peebles escapes his rocky prison and immediately goes in search of the lethargic Lambert. Though shot on location in Canada, France, Morocco, and Scotland, this has all the production value of a student film. Under the helm of music-video director Andy Morahan, the movie is jumpy and jumbled, leaping from one ridiculous scene to another.--Rochelle O'Gorman

(does not age well)
『7.9 THE FILM ITSELF
6.9 VISUALS
7.5 SOUND
7.0 PACKAGING
8.4 EXTRAS

Remembering that Final destination came out in 2000, it's easy to see how old the film looks - especially on blu-ray. But even more so, the dialogue, the some what hammy / cheesy acting and just how young the cast is makes you understand you are not watching an Oscar award winning film.

Final Destination is an above average thriller / horror flick that deals with a young man who has visions of death. When he escapes the "death" that was imminent, the count down is on until death "catches up" to those who escaped. It's an interesting premise and it's handled decently. But after 9 years, it's certainly not the most engaging of stories, it sometimes doesn't really hold your attention and the characters feel cookie-cutter at best. But if you're looking for something different and slightly entertaining, you can do a lot worse than Final Destination.

VISUALS 6.9
There's no reason this should be bought on blu-ray. It looks okay at best, but for visual nuts they will certainly call this "horrible". From the bad haircuts that are really shown well here to the blotchy skin / makeup, some movies just should be left on DVD. Of course, being 9 years old doesn't help, but I've seen movies had 20 years ago that look stunning compared to this. It seems like no remastering has been done here at all.

SOUND 7.5
It's good, but nothing special. And after listening to the entire "isolated score" feature, I'm even more less impressed with this than I originally was. The rest of the sound - dialogue and explosions - are better, but still, nothing that makes you crank up the surround sound or anything.

PACKAGING 7.0
No main menu, the movie just starts with a menu bar that pops up on the bottom. The cover kind of resembles a cheesy teen-horror / action flick, and that's exactly what the film is.

EXTRAS 8.4
Two commentary tracks, one of which is really good (the one with the crew) while the other is average at best (the one with some of the cast members). There is a feature that is commentary by the composer as the entire score is presented over the dialogue. I never listened to one of these before, and this was not a good first selection for a film to do so on. The score just isn't that interesting here and the dialogue is "blah" at best.

"The Perfect Souffle: Testing Final Destination" is an inyteretsing feature I have never seen again. The creators talk about what a testing piece does for the film and what changes after it. Kind of interesting, but glad more films don't have this as it won't be watched by many fans.

"Premonitions" is an obnoxiously cheesy piece about a woman who believes she has the power to see when people are dead or in danger, and that she can see the future. Maybe if she didn't try to force her kids to believe it (that's how it seems anyway) it wouldn't be so bad, but this just seems like a family that will be in the news one day for joining a cult or something.

Then there are 3 deleted scenes that show a radically different ending. These are good because it shows just how far off the ending was, but they're bad because this ending is a horrible decision. So I'm glad they changed it and this is a very interesting original ending.

FINAL VERDICT
Final Destination is a decent film that offers something new to a tired genre, but it certainly hasn't aged well in the 9 years since it was released. The special features are impressive, but aside from the crew commentary and the shocking alternate ending there isn't much substance here.

8.1/10 "IMPRESSIVE"』

(great horror that deserves the many positive ratings and reviews)
『The first Final Destination is actually a really good horror film. It's significantly better than the third Final Destination movie (that's the one with the carnival and roller-coaster ride segment, right? I like this one a LOT more).

The only flaw with this film is that the first 20 minutes start off rather predictable, but give the story some time to develop and I believe you'll find yourself really getting into it.

Maybe it's just me, but I found it kind of disrespectful that they'd keep playing John Denver's classic "Rocky Mountain High" throughout the film. The song plays whenever something bad is about to happen.

It's disrespectful because, as you probably know, John Denver lost his life in an airplane accident a few years before this movie was created and released. The writers should have honestly picked a different song.

Now about the storyline. Are you the kind of person that believes you can cheat death? If so, do you believe if you happen to cheat death that death will rear its head shortly after in ANOTHER attempt to take your life? These are the kind of serious and curious questions that many of us probably ask ourselves, and these same questions are the reason this kind of horror is a few steps above the generic slasher kind (and honestly, slasher flicks are the kind of horror stories have been done to the point of exhaustion by this point).

I often wonder about these questions personally, though obviously it's important not to let these questions interfere with enjoying your life. But it makes you wonder exactly what your destiny is and when it will happen, doesn't it?

Anyway, great horror suspense.』

(Extremely Underrated Sci-Fi Movie)
『Final Destination has an interesting concept. Death hunts people who overcame his plan for them. A script originally written for X-Files, it is intelligent, cerebral, and witty. It is not your average "kill-teens" flick. Each teen has their own personality and you can actually tell the difference between all of them. You sympathize with the teens and hope they don't die; instead of rooting for the killer (in this case Death itself). The teens have actual intelligence and are not idiots. The cliffhanger ending is truly excellent.
Among the Final Destination series, this is the best. Final Destination 2 (second best) suffered (in my opinion) from a relatively happy, hopeful ending compared to this cliffhanger ending; the new life concept seemed too hopeful. The Final Destination (third best) was relatively good but suffered from "show everybody die and not leave mystery" syndrome. Final Destination 3 suffered from stupid characters who no one cares about syndrome.』

(Useless, dumb POS movie)
『As they are, horror movies are for the most part useless and have no cultural value at all unless you're some kind of sadist. Final Destinations 1, 2 and 3 aren't so much horror as they are safety films that show what happen if you don't put safety first. People are decapitated, suffocated, immolated, defenestrated, and the only lesson we learn from this movie is... they shouldn't make a sequel... but they did anyway, 2 of them! Then they're making this new dumb Final Destination movie, with the word "The" in front of it as though they are trying to have more respect for the English language somehow by making the title a complete sentence on its own.

Don't watch Final Destination. You'll only destroy your mind and your dignity.』

(No Cheating The Reaper)
『The "Final Destination" series started off with this low-key and middle-budget suspense film. Cast with a bunch of young actors in a twist on the old slasher formula, except this time, the mad killer is old Grimm himself. It makes this movie a minor classic, in that there's never anyone chasing these kids through the woods (so to speak). You don't need to set up a story about the killer that got killed by the angry mob or tormented by nasty classmates. Death doesn't need that kind of contraption, Death just is.

Of the actors, only Sean William Scott (aka "Stifler") and Heroes' Ari Larter have moved up from this series starter. Then one of the kids - Devon Sawa - has a premonition that gets him and six classmates plus one teacher booted from the flight. Said plane then explodes upon take-off. This team of cast-offs realize they've cheated death...or did they? Seems Death's Design isn't to crazy about being disrupted, and comes back for the stragglers. This is where "Final Destination" slips back into formula, and became more inventive in the way the teens get killed off. This does sort of make FD a precursor to the Saw series, in that the kills had to be elaborately set up and executed (har har).

Even with the beach-blanket-bingo of the FD plotline, the suspense is real. Who goes next and who beats the reaper? The concept was so successful that the Big D came back for two more sets of teens (Final Destination 2 and Final Destination 3) with a 4th in the works with little variance in the formula.』

『While hardly a spiritual upgrade of the slasher film, this high-concept teen body-count thriller drops hints ofThe Sixth Senseinto the smart-aleck sensibility ofScream. Helmed byX-Filesveteran James Wong, who cowrote the screenplay with longtime creative partner Glen Morgan,Final Destinationis an often entertaining thriller marked by an unsettling sense of unease and scenes of eerie imagery. It suffers, however, from a schizophrenic tone and a frankly ludicrous premise. A high school Cassandra, Alex Browning (Devon Sawa ofIdle Hands), wakes from a preflight nightmare and panics when he's convinced the plane is doomed. His ruckus bumps seven passengers from the Paris-bound plane, which immediately explodes into a fireball on takeoff, but fate hasn't finished with these lucky few and, one by one, death claims them. Wong brings such a funereal tone to these early scenes of survivor's guilt and inevitable doom that the already far-fetched film threatens to veer into unplanned absurdity. Thankfully, the tale loosens up with a playful morgue humor: one of the victims winds up the splattered punch line to a grim joke and elaborate Rube Goldbergesque chains of cause and effect become inspired spectacles of destruction.Final Destinationis a pretty silly thriller when it takes itself seriously, and the filmmakers play fast and loose with their own rules of fate, but once they stick their tongues firmly in cheek, the film takes off with a screwy interpretation of the domino effect of doom.--Sean Axmaker

(Where did my previous review go?)
『I wrote a review of this a while back and now it seems to be missing. At any rate, stay away from this piece of garbage. Having been a long-term horror fan, it really says something when a guy like me gets grossed out because a movie is about baby after innocent, defenseless baby being killed. And all because they are SUPPOSEDLY the second coming of Christ. Let me ask you this: if you were Christ and you wanted to come back because Damien was the anti-you, would you come back as a creature that was too weak to fend for itself? Of course not!!! You would come back as an adult so you could have at least a 50-50 chance of winning! In other words, the filmmakers made a conscious choice to have babies as the main victims in this movie. Sick, sick, sick!!!!』

(One of the worst movies I have ever seen...)
『And that's no lie. I recently decided to watch the entire Omen series and then review them in order. When I hit this one I realized I had made a big, big mistake.

Not unlike Damien: Omen II, Omen 3: The Final Conflict flashes forward to another period of Damien's life. Now in his thirties, Damien is the head of Thorn Industries and has just been appointed a US ambassador. As it was foretold in the original Omen, he is steadily rising to the top of the political world where he will soon usher in his father's rule. But all that changes when a particular constellation signals the second coming of Jesus Christ himself, threatening all Damien has worked for. To nip this problem in the bud, Damien simply calls upon his followers to carry out a mass marder of all male infants born at a certain time. Meanwhile a band of vigilante priests have recovered the seven daggers necessary to destroy Damien and plot to take him out.

What a hopeless bomb of a movie. One of the most convoluted plots ever weighed down further by horrid acting, dead slow pacing, and more plot holes than you can shake a stick at. Lets put it this way, if the final battle between heaven and hell induces yawns, then it's safe to say that something here isn't being presented very effectively. Even the great death sequences that have become a trademark of The Omen series are completely absent here. We have a priest falling off a bridge into some water, a hound dog attack, maybe a stabbing...That's about as creative as this one gets. The vast majority of the movie is Damien sitting in his office barking orders at his personal secretary and occasionally spouting off sacreligious banter at a crucifix. Believe me, it's as exciting as it sounds.

There's really no way I could recommend this to even the most hardcore Omen fan. This has strayed so far from what made the original great that it's almost unrecognizable as an Omen movie. There are really only two things that remain consistent throughout the Ome series: The Jerry Goldsmith music score, and each movie is half as good, (or twice as bad) as the last.』

(Part 3! 3 Stars!)
『Sorry, but I have to talk for a moment about the concept of the "Part 3". I like watching Part 3s, especially Part 3s to successful, blockbuster flicks. By the time you get to a Part 3 in a series, the screenwriters are trying their damnedest to put a new spin on the story and take it in a different direction to separate it from the first. This usually results in laughable, silly and outrageous ideas on film. After all, everything cool and worthwhile was in Part 1, and sometimes you can wring a few interesting concepts from a Part 2, but by Part 3 you're really stretching it(and of course even more so if more sequels are made). Stuff like Star Wars and Back to the Future don't count coz they were envisioned as trilogies from the getgo. But Part 3s can be very fun to watch in their own right. They might be bad films(in rare cases they are better than the Part 2), but can be enjoyed in a different way than the first film was enjoyed.
It's because of Part 3s that Rocky is getting thrown out of the ring by Hulk Hogan, and that Superman is teaming up with Richard Pryor and dealing with an evil twin. It's also the reason Karate Kid 3 ended up being Karate Kid 3.
Well, in this case of Part 3s, I'm talking about the Antichrist. No, not Will Farrell, good ol' Damien from The Omen. In the Final Conflict he has managed to go from 5 to 32 years old in the space of 5 years. He is now reigning king of Thorn Industries and ambassador to Great Britain. He gets a bit worried when he finds out that Christ has recently been reborn, and sends his "Disciples of the Watch"(Ha! Now I know where Testament got that!) to kill all babies born on that particular day. If that weren't stressful enough for the Antichrist, there's a gang of Antichrist hunters out to assassinate him. Armed with those daggers that were given to Gregory Peck in the first film, they periodically attack, only to fail of course. Besides, wasn't this act supposed to be carried out on hallowed ground? Oh well, it's a Part 3.
There's also a reporter who has the hots for Damien, then eventually realizes who he is, but by that time her son has been brought into the Antichrist fold. Damien also introduces her to the wonderful world of rough sex.
This movie is okay. It's not terribly exciting, but just interesting enough to make you want to see it through. Yes, some new concepts are thrown in, but this movie really doesn't feel like a horror film at all, and that's a far cry from the first Omen. I've always really liked Sam Neill, but it's difficult for me to buy him as the Antichrist. He's too nice or something. He seems more just like a corrupt and shrewd corporate headhoncho than the son of the devil. Plus, you'd think the "final conflict" between Jesus and the Antichrist would be a bit more epic. I mean, this is the battle of all battles, baby!! This should be Cecil B. Demille on friggin' steroids. This should make Lord of the Rings look like Deathstalker 4.
Oh, well. I guess for a movie that was pretty unnecessary to begin with, it wasn't all that bad.』

(Omen 3: The Final Conflict (1981)-Not bad for number 3.)
『Omen 3: The Final Conflict (1981) was a four star sequel and pretty darn good for number three in any series. The best thing about this film was that it introduced many of us to Sam Neill who was quite good in the role of Damien. After this movie I started taking note of all the films that he made.』

(Very Impressive OMEN)
『I think this is the best of the OMEN trilogy. It is definitely the most believable for this genre. Sam Neil is very good as Damien. Powerful Gerry Goldsmith score and great cinematography and atmosphere are outstanding. There is gratuitous violence and killings along the way but these are played down and are very low-key compared to this film's predecessors. For instance, the outrageous violence was the focus of the second OMEN film. This film puts these on the backburner and focuses on the central characters and theme. This is a very impressive film.』
『Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 09/09/2008 Run time: 108 minutes Rating: R』
『TheOmenseries concludes with this second sequel, starring Sam Neill as the adult Damien--a.k.a. the son of Satan--in a battle with the heavens for control of mankind. The film ends up depending more heavily on effects and spectacle than on the kind of basic horrors that made the first movie in the series so unsettling, but at least this one gives some closure to the seemingly endless saga.--Tom Keogh

(Not one of Modesitt's best)
『"Shadowsinger" leaves a whole lot to be desired.

Lady Secca, Sorceress-Protector of Defalk, has married Alcaren, hidden Sorcerer and Lord of Ranauk (where women rule), and they're in deep, deep trouble. At the end of "The Shadow Sorceress" (book 4), the Maitre of Sturinn was on the loose, a nasty Sorcerer has gained power in Neserea, and no one knew what was going on there despite all their scrying with mirrors.

Secca and Alcaren do have some assistance as they set off to fight; they have the help of the Matriarchy of Ranauk (this comes in handy during several sea battles, which are ridden out on Matriarchy-controlled ships) along with some minor assistance from the state of Norwei. And they have Secca's experienced musicians ("players"), who accompany her and boost her power, along with an assistant sorceress who's rapidly improving (Richina) to spell her now and again, as well as a whole lot of grit and nerve. They're willing to fight the "good fight," and keep the Sturrinese and the nasty Nesereans out of Defalk, and aid their sworn allies to the best of their ability.

In between fighting battles with the various folks out to get them, Secca and her cohorts must fight her own land's leader, Lord Robero. He's afraid of her, yet he needs her to defeat Defalk's enemies; it's a very subtle balance, and the pendulum is starting to slip.

And the Sturrinese, a nasty race of men who enslave and chain their women, are making overtures toward Robero, too. Meaning Secca and the others have a whole lot more problems.

All of that is fine, as far as it goes. But I think Modesitt went too far with the Sturrinese, as they are just too maliciously evil to be believable. They are the equivalent of Germany under Hitler and the Nazis -- but worse.

Even Nazis didn't chain their own kinfolk.

The rank evilness of the Sturrinese causes all sorts of other difficulties, because it just doesn't logically fly. Simply put: I'm supposed to believe that the Sturrinese men have been willfully chaining and torturing their women for umpteen-hundred years? All of them? Why? Why do this to their mothers, their sisters, their lovers? And even if they believe it's right, morally and ethically, it still makes no sense.

Why would they want to take 1/2 of their work-force out of the equation? (Trust me, with the type of chains those women wear, they are not able to do most labor, and even doing "minor household tasks" would be a major stretch. They wouldn't be able to do much else with the constant strain of carrying around and wearing those nasty heavy chains.) How can they afford to do something as idiotic as that?

And why hasn't their "empire" fallen about their heads long before this out of sheer stupidity?

Getting back to the story, the Maitre, leader of the Sturrinese and their most powerful Sorcerer, says that they've united 1/4 of the world under their "beneficent leadership" (paraphrase mine). Why would anyone else in the world sit still for this? Sorcerers can be taken out, and not just by other Sorcerors/Sorceresses (we only saw it happen once, I think in book 2, but it has happened and probably could happen more if people used tactics instead of brute force); a massed force could have toppled these asinine, ahem, *individuals* long before this book starts.

That took a full one and one half stars away from the potential five right there. And could have taken far more, if the rest wasn't so engaging.

In addition, although I like Secca and Alcaren very much as characters, they don't get much time to grow together, and the romance between them is truncated. I disliked that very much. Even when times are hard and bad, if you're partners and you believe in one another and trust each other, you can find more time for romance. Granted, Modesitt hints very well and there is some very subtle romance going on (as well as some not-so-subtle lust). But it's not enough for my taste.

In addition, I don't believe Secca would take over as Lady of Defalk, not after all Anna had to do to stay out of that position. Granted, Secca can still have children; she's in her mid-30s, and she's not too old, plus she could always adopt (this was a possibility with Anna if Anna had kept the throne). But one of the big points made in both books 4 and 5 was that Alyssa, Robero's consort, was smart and tough. Granted, Alyssa couldn't keep Robero from doing stupid things, but was it her fault she couldn't control him? She's no sorceress, only a very smart woman, who got the Hell out of the way when it was clear to her that her husband was Hell-bent on destruction (which, to me at least, proved how smart she was).

It would have made more sense to have had Alyssa resume holding Defalk as ruling _Lady_ -- and have the heirs be picked by her, Jolyn, and Secca alike. Secca shouldn't be the ruler, because there is at least one nasty Sturrinese priest out there, and anyway, the other lands are going to be in violent upheaval for quite some time. She doesn't have time to both be a ruler _and_ put down all the strife in my opinion.

And by Modesitt putting Secca on the throne, it brought up another question. I kept wondering how Secca, who was the pre-eminent sorceress of the world of Erde, was going to be able to train successors? Granted, Richina (her assistant) is well on the way to becoming independent, but Secca shields Richina from the worst spells and doesn't seem to want to let Richina in on the decision making, meaning at best that Richina, once she starts taking students, won't be able to teach ethics or decision making. And that's not right, because Richina is powerful (albeit young), and deserves to know what's going on.

And there was one writing idiosyncrasy that drove me nuts throughout all five books of this series. Every time Modesitt goes away from his main character (whether it's Anna in books 1-3 or Secca in 4-5), he switches from past tense to present tense, almost as if to say, "We're looking through someone else's eyes now!"

Trust me. The reader can figure that out without this sort of clue. There's no reason to do this, it's distracting, and every time Modesitt did it, it made my teeth grind. Which is why I took another 1/2 star away.

Now that I've gone through the minuses, let me count the pluses. The characterizations were very good in the main; Secca and Alcaren are believable, vivid people. I especially liked Palian, the Chief Player. I enjoyed the idea of harmonies and dissonances being used as a form of magic (although I'm still unsure as to how it'd work, exactly). And I believed in the struggles Secca was having with her usage of power.

Still. Compared to "Adiamante" or the four books about the Ecolitans or even to books 1-3 of this own cycle, it doesn't work. It's not as strong as it could have been, and that's a shame.

Three stars.

Barb Caffrey』

(Accompanimento Obbligato - Not Quite)
『In Book Four (The Shadow Sorceress) of this five-book Spellsong Cycle, Secca, the ward and foster-daughter of Anna, the Great Sorceress, takes center stage after the latter dies. There is already a disruption in the harmony in the land, as it were. Combating malevolent home-grown sorcerers and staving off the invasion of the women-hating Sea Priests from afar have almost killed Secca.

The Shadowsinger, as Secca is now called in Book Five, along with her sorcerer-husband Alcaren, and a remnant of lesser sorceresses, take the war to the Sea Priests home islands [1]. When the climatic batte is fought, the Sea Priests are vanquished. Secca becomes the first ruler-sorceress of her homeland Defalk. Defalk remains the only super-power at the end of this saga.

Characteristic of Modesitt's writings is the familiar theme on the struggle for geopolitical power and authority and how they are used or abused [2]. In the Shadowsinger, essential leadership qualities with power and authority are contrasted among the relative good (Secca the Shadowsinger), the bad (Robero the Lord of Defalk), and the ugly (Maitre of the Sea Priests).

Modesitt could have written more on music and its effect on the lives of his characters. Afterall, music conveys loneliness and of pain, of strength and freedom, of life and love, of death and sorrow, and of disappointment and never-satisfied love. All these he has written, though contrained and under-developed, in the five books.

If there were a juncture where Modesitt would come through in writing love and music other than music and war, it is between the courtship and marriage of Secca and Alcaren. It would be a spark to the reader if Alcaren, the destined husband and music partner for Secca, says to her bride,"Ich bin mit einem obligaten Accompaniment auf die Welt gekommen"[3]. She then in turn patiently explains and demonstrates to the obliging husband the technique of playing Fernando Sor's"Obbligato on Etude in B minor."

It is ironic Modesitt selects music as the conduit for sorcery. This is a one-dimensional and warped exercise on the speech of the angels. Then again, this is a fantasy - everything is allowed and then some. On balance, it is a fairly good read.

A few final remarks on this last book of the Spellsong Cycle. They all pertain to editorial oversights.

1. The familiar map of the Continent of Liedwahr is curiously omitted in this final book. If one were
to read this book, he would have no reference as to what's where and where battles are fought.

2. The age of Secca and her assistant-sorceress are different in Book Four (The Shadow
Sorceress) and Book Five (Shadowsinger).

* Secca is 25+ years old (Chapter 13, The Shadow Sorceress)
* Secca is 35+ years old (Chapter 6, Shadowsinger)

* Richina, assistant sorceress to Secca, is but a"few years more than a girl"(Chapter 9, The Shadow Sorceress)
* Richina, assistant sorceress to Secca, is now"more than fifteen years younger than Secca"
(Chapter 2, Shadowsinger)

3. This one is really a salient oversight on Modesitt's part. He thinks he is writing about Candar
from the the Recluse series. Here is the quote made by the Maitre of the Sea Priests as he and
his command are out-maneuvered by Secca and her allies.

"Wards that are not wards, or more than wards. Ships from all across Candar..."(Chapter 75,
Shadowsinger)

[1] The crux of the geopolitics and ideological elements in the Shadowsinger parallels the war actions post-September 11, 2001 when United States takes the war of terrorism to Afghanistan. The Shadowsinger is first published in February 2002.

[2] The Saga of Recluse is a long and skillfully crafted study on power and authority. There is the cut -and-dry"black"or"white"ideology, and the in-between"grey"ideology. All are expressed or represented by the respective ideological magic/sorcery.

(A sorry conclusion)
『As soon as I saw Shadowsinger on the shelves at my local Borders I bought it. Up to now I considered the Spellsong Cycle one of the hidden treasures of fantasy fiction. Modesitt has a great way with action that doesn't interfere with character development, and vice versa. I cared about this land and the people in it, most especially Ana. This was her story, her overcoming her insecurity and self doubt, her adventure. For me, the entire story was about her.
When I reached the page where she died, I stopped reading. There was no point in going on. The story, at least the story I cared about, ended on that page. So it was with a feeling of deep disappointment and building anger over being supremely cheated by the author--Ana deserved to be reunited with her daughter dammit!--that I returned the book to the store from whence it came. For those of you who feel the same as do I, don't read this pile of tripe. End your relationship with this wonderful character in The Shadow Sorceress, and use your own imagination to give Ana a fitting end to her adventure.
Mr. Modesitt I remain a fan I guess, but in all honesty, I have had a hard time selecting one of your books since the day I read Shadowsinger.』

(Good, but typical)
『While a good read, Modesitt sticks to the same formula -- and as successful as it is, the books are coming more and more predictable. I enjoyed it -- mostly -- but felt a little let down.』
The Climax of The Spellsong Cycle

Secca, foster daughter of the Soprano Sorceress, and now her successor as Sorceress Protector of Defalk, must deal carefully with her willful master and wield her power to save his kingdom from the armies, fleets and master sorcerers of the Maitre of Sturinn. Faced with seemingly insurmountable odds, she is forced to test her own powers over and over again, while teaching her new husband and her inexperienced apprentice the skills they will need to aid her in creating spells powerful enough to shake the foundations of the world.

(The Finale Was Worth The Wait!)
『This was the culmination of the series. very well done. I found it to be not as predictable as anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed the ending. Enough lose ends were left to allow a short reprise, if necessary. Excellent interpretation of Asian culture throughout the story line. As "Mako's" last performance it is a fitting memorial: although he died before these episodes were produced or aired.

Well done Nickelodeon!』

(Young Kid Pleaser)
『This was a gift for my 8 yr old and he was very happy with it. It offered a different perspective on things he had already seen on the live episodes, and he enjoyed that.』

(Rather disappointed at Nick)
『The fact that this book was released two months before the series finale befuddles me, along with Nickelodeon's retarded scheduling of the episodes and their general mess. Brian and Mike should also be ashamed of themselves for allowing this tripe to be published. It only gives them and the Avatar franchise a bad name.

Much of the season finale was spectacular, though there were so many questions left unanswered. What happened to Long Feng, Azula, the Earth King, Ursa, Chit Sang, Haru, Teo, etc etc etc? There were a few things contradictory as well (if Ty Lee was at the Boiling Rock, she would not have been able to make friends with the Kyoshian Warriors, as these girls were being held somewhere else) and I'm surprised Mai's uncle (the prison warden) didn't kill himself after the prisoners escaped - he said that he'd sooner die than see a prisoner escape. Seasons 1 and 2 were good. Season 3 had some great parts, but I got the feeling that the writers were becoming very lazy/sloppy as this particular season unfolded.』

(Sozin's Comet)
『My son really liked this book. The story is like the movie, even including pictures from it. I liked the little details, like the paper looking old. Would suggest it to anyone who likes Avatar the Last Airbender.』

(from an avatar fan @ heart)
『i would say to those people who were disappointed with this book, that i think they mainly bought this for the spoilers.. i would not speak too hastily that this book left many questions unanswered because by the time i publish this review, i would not have had the chance to see the finale episodes of avatar. however, judging by the fact that these books are meant for ages not too old enough to make a review then i would guess that these people who have submitted these reviews before me are just impatient or frustrated. i have read some of the books similar to this and they do maintain their style of writing. that is, purely for children and not thorough nor detailed. but it indeed cured me of my spoiler thirst.. (haha)
with regards to the book itself, i think it was beautifully done. i repeat, i have not seen the real episode itself when i wrote this but it certainly gives us something to imagine. the books similar to this also had different points of view as for each chapter. for example, chapter one: zuko, then the whole chapter would be entirely based from zuko's point of view. it is quite interesting because it gives more chance for character development. as ive said earlier, the book remains faithful to other books similar to this.
i do not have any problems with this book. I would recommend it to any AVATAR FAN at heart.』

『In this adaptation of the four-part Season Three finale,Avatarfans will finally discover if Aang really can save the world from the evil Fire Lord! Told through first person narratives, readers will get the inside scoop from their favorite characters, and hear what's going on in their heads as they help Aang battle the ultimate enemy. Organzied into short chapters, this book is especially suited for middle-grade readers, but it can be enjoyed byAvatarfans of any age. Also included is a totally exclusive Q&A withAvatarcreators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, as well as some of their early sketches of theAvatarworld and characters. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review
(The best in the series, with 4 and 9 not far behind...)
『*Initially released as Final Fantasy 3 on SNES...now we know it to actually be 6. For the casual fan, you should no longer be confused.*

For years, I have heard two things (and I will avoid numerals for this review...). One...that Final Fantasy 7 was the best Final Fantasy and had the best Final Fantasy villain. Two...that Final Fantasy 6 was the best Final Fantasy and had the best Final Fantasy villain. This is where I've found that there are three camps of Final Fantasy fans (although it applies to most RPGs, but I'm sticking with this series for right now.).

Camp 1: The Old School Die Hard---these fans tend to love the originals because of their nostalgic value, medieval setting, and more majestic storylines.
Camp 2: The Next Generation Die Hard---these fans tend to love the later entries because of their showcasing of technology, dark/bleak setting (a la Blade Runner), and innovative systems like limit breaks and materia.
Camp 3: The Die Hard Final Fantasy Fan (what'd ya think I was going to say?)---these fans tend to respect and love all the games, and maybe dislike just one or two but whose reasons have no relation to Camps 1 and 2.

Obviously, Camp 1 will often claim Final Fantasy 6 or 9 as the best entry (maybe even 4), while Camp 2 will very, very likely claim that 7 is the best. Camp 3 is mixed, although I've found a few of those happen to like the third game the best.

As much as I respect and enjoy Final Fantasy 7, I gravitate towards the first camp because that's the style that I grew up on. I like swords, sorcery, and high stakes. I keep an open mind, but a game like Final Fantasy 4 or Chrono Trigger is like a soldier returning home for me. Anyways, without further explanation, here's my review for Final Fantasy 6.

This game has a very complex plot and despite its totally separate storyline from 7, it is a wonderful lead-in for that game. The world has previously gone through a horrific "War of the Magi" in which the Espers' powers were misused and brought great destruction (Espers are Summons, essentially). The Espers were given free will but their powers were sealed, never again to be used by man. The main character, essentially, is Terra (or Tina, depending on the translation you're playing), a half-Esper/half-human that went through excruciating circumstances before taking control of her life. There's a slew of characters you meet in the entire game; Locke is a treasure hunter with the Steal technique. Edgar is the king of Figaro, an engineer, and twin brother of Sabin. Sabin had forsaken his royal heritage to study Martial Arts. Celes is a former imperial soldier who also has Esper powers due to their experiments on her (and can absorb magic through her swords). Cyan was the king of Doma, a kingdom of Samurai, and he seeks revenge on Kefka. There's also Shadow, a ninja with a mysterious past and has a dog named Interceptor that aids him when he needs it. There are other memorable characters that include Setzer (a gambler) and a feral child named Gau, but I'll leave you to discover the others (preferably by playing the game, but I suppose I can't stop you from Wikipedia-ing it).

Although it appears Emperor Gestahl is the main villain in the beginning, our main antagonist is Kefka. While other villains like Sephiroth (7) and Kuja (9) have interesting motives, Kefka has my stamp of approval for being the absolute best villain in the series. I've got three reasons why.

1. He is the most ruthless villain in the series. He wipes out the entire kingdom of Doma by poisoning the water (including Cyan's family), captures the Esper god statues and unleashes terror, and shows unconditional contempt for the good qualities in humanity. He turns on his emperor in the blink of an eye, hungry for the power of the Espers.
2. He is one of the goofiest tyrants I've ever seen in a video game. Before he marches off to Figaro, he orders his soldiers to wipe the sand from and off his boots (Figaro is in the desert). He also torments Cyan for his misfortune, repeatedly laughing in his face. When the heroes confront him before the final battle, he says HATE HATE HATE over and over and over again, shaking his fists in an anime-sort of way. He also has that funny laugh that makes its way into Chrono Trigger.
3. He has one of the coolest boss themes in any video game, period.

The game takes on a late industrial/western feel to it, largely in part to the artists and Nobou Uematsu's variant score. Uematsu hit a bullseye in scoring this puppy; from Terra's slow, journeyman-like theme to Shadow's spaghetti western-style theme, to some of the catchiest battle music you've ever heard in your life, to the ragtime/opera suites in the more artsy sections of the game...the music score overall is perhaps Uematsu's most diverse music that I've ever heard in a video game. There are majestic moments that will remind you of Final Fantasies 4 or 9, but here is where the two camps merge into one. Magic is dying out in the storyline, and the music reflects that.

Awesome music, adventorous map (there's two "worlds" by the way, play and find out...), complex plot, interesting characters (ALL of them having a unique skill) and the ability to have up to four fighting at once, innovative battle systems (there's three points in the game where you split your characters into two or three teams, depending on where you are in the game, and you can switch between them and fight a lot of battles), gameplay longevity without ever getting boring...I have not found any fault in this game, and while I do find it to be a long game, it does have a replay value to it.

So who do I recommend this to? Because of its difficulty level (which isn't impossible, but it may be troublesome if you've never played an RPG before), I might suggest trying Final Fantasies 4 or 7 first, but if you happen to be in the third camp that loves both of those games, I guarantee that you will enjoy this game. It is the perfect lead-in to Final Fantasy 7 by aesthetics and setting alone, and I can't think of a better way to intrigue both the medieval Fantasy fans and the more modern Fantasy fans. I also guarantee that you will love the characters and love their backstories.

Saddle up, turn on the nostalgic dial, grab your weapon of choice, and march into battle for one of the greatest adventures that Squaresoft (er, Square Enix...) has to offer. I see no reason why you would dislike this game. Perhaps the best Final Fantasy game in existence, with FF4 and FF9 in close proximity and FF7 following those.

Recommendations:
1. Chrono Trigger (classic SNES game)
2. Super Mario RPG (SNES, the perfect beginner's RPG)
3. Final Fantasy 4 (worthy RPG for the first-time fan)
4. Castlevania Symphony of the Night (a combination of classic RPG elements and Super Metroid-style gameplay)』

(Masterpiece. Best Game Ever.)
『I still recall how deeply I fell into FF3's hypnotic Trance. Everything about it, from the old'school graphics to the Perfect music (Opera house, anyone?) and incredible story and characters made this the best game I ever played. When people say "They don't make them like they used to" I'm pretty sure they are all reffering to Final Fantasy 3!』

(Words cannot adequately describe....)
『This review has been long overdue. Years in fact. But I had to praise what I consider to possibly be the greatest RPG of all time. (Yes, IMHO). In fact, this game is what got me hooked on role playing games. I'll keep this short and to the point. The storyline is so deep, so involved, so moving, it captured me from the start. I felt this odd compelling connection to the characters. The music is also enthralling. Celes theme is so beautiful and conveys such emotion, it literally moves me to tears. The battle music, and Terra's theme is great as well. In short, this game is a classic and truly a masterpiece.』

(Classic SNES RPG At Its Finest)
『Final Fantasy is a household name when you talk about console RPGs. Dating back from the NES and found on virtually every console from that point on, Final Fantasy has come in a variety of flavors and has matured quite a bit. Looking to Final Fantasy VII, which has been hailed as one of the greatest games of all time, to Final Fantasy XII which is one of the absolute best in the series, it's easy to get lost in the "mainstream" Final Fantasy titles. It's equally easy to get lost in the obscure, cross-country numbering system Square had for the series. But deep inside the Final Fantasy vault lies this gem: Final Fantasy III for the SNES.

So the actual plot of this game is your typical anti-establishment movement. You have a group of people called the "Returners" who are fighting against the Empire. As you can imagine, the Empire is a big militaristic group who seeks to take control of the world through fear and brute force and the Returners won't have any of that going on. However the Empire seeks to use the ultimate power known as Magic to enslave the rest of the world. So it's up to you to stop them. However, as fate would have it, the Empire has quite a few tricks up it sleeve, namely a psychotic egotistical maniac known as Kefka who will do anything to get his hands on the ultimate Magic and rule the world for himself. Even though you try your hardest, Kefka ends up obtaining this power and destroys the world as you know it. Once you take control in the post-apocalyptic world, your task then is to gather up your friends, wherever they are, and go beat the snot out of Kefka and restore peace to the world.

There's almost nothing bad to say about this game. The battle system is probably the pinnacle as far as fast-paced ATB goes. The graphics are on par with SNES games of the time and the impressive utilization of the SNES's Mode 7 for the world map was highly appealing. The characters are still some of the most memorable out of the entire series. Locke still happens to be one of my all-time favorite characters in the entire franchise. To top it all off, you play in a world bordering on total destruction and you continue to play in the post-apocalyptic world as well.

The Esper system is also unique to the franchise. I like to think that this system provides the basis for the Materia system found in Final Fantasy VII. It's very similar in a lot of ways. With the Esper system, one character can equip one Esper at a time. Each Esper has a set of spells that the character can learn and each spell has a "Learn Rate". The "Learn Rate" specifies how fast a character can learn a spell while the Esper is equipped. Each fight gives your party Magic Points and those earned Magic Points are multiplied by the "Learn Rate" for each spell. Once you've accumulated 100 Magic Points per spell, the character learns the spell and retains the spell even after the Esper is removed, unlike the Materia system in Final Fantasy VII where you can master the spells in the Materia but once you remove the Materia, the spells don't stay with the character.

A lot of people have complained about the difficulty of the game and to be honest with you, I really don't see what's so difficult about it. There are certainly more difficult Final Fantasy games in the franchise; for instance the ability learning system in Final Fantasy 9 and the Yiazmat hunt in Final Fantasy 12 (which usually can't be completed in under two hours). The only real challenge to the game is the inconsistent party members up until the near end of the game. You'll spend a lot of time with varying party members, some more than others, which has a tendency to unbalance your entire party which is not a good idea. Some times you'll really have to take a major break from the main storyline and spend some time leveling your party and learning spells. You can attempt to push straight through the game without preparing your party however it's not a very good idea unless you know what you're doing.

In terms of soundtracks, the game features the great composition of Nobuo Uematsu who, once again, created an absolute masterpiece. Some of the games premiere tracks are found in some of the earlier locations such as Narshe, the world map music for all three worlds, the battle music, and as always the great reprise of the classic Final Fantasy victory fanfare. The theme for all the music is similar in atmosphere and really drags you into the game.

Final Fantasy III is an absolute must-have for any SNES enthusiast/video game collector/RPG fanatic/anyone who wants to play a good game basically. It spruces up your personal collection of SNES games, makes a nice conversational topic amongst like-minded individuals, and is just one heck of a game to play.』

(Yeah...)
『I know everyone says this game is amazing, and I wish i could disagree. The battle system is inventive and fast-paced. The game is actually difficult.
If you know what you're doing, you don't need to farm levels, but even if you need to, it doesn't take very long.
My only objection is that not every character is useful. Strago and Relm, for instance, come into the storyline rather late. They don't have the same power that other characters do, such as Sabin or Cyan. Sabin and Cyan are just BRUTALLY powerful, and can become strong magic-users, too. Strago and Relm are just useless comparatively.

That said, if you want a challenge, play through the game using the wussy characters. I'm currently doing it, because I played through this game once a semester in college and need a challenge, and it's a LOT of fun!』

『From the Manufacturer The first Final Fantasy game was released for the original NES in 1990, and Final Fantasy III stormed onto the Super NES scene in 1994. One of the most engrossing RPGs of its era, Final Fantasy III stands up well to the test of time and still intrigues RPG fans to this day. Known for its intriguing storylines, the Final Fantasy series has always been filled with imaginative plots and twisting storylines. In Final Fantasy III, magical beings called The Espers return from centuries past to destroy the rational and mechanized new world. An amazing adventure unfolds from there, filled with challenging battles and perplexing puzzles.Features: Epic storylines combined with an intuitive control system will appeal to all fans of the genre. Countless weapons, magic spells, and special skills allow for a variety of strategies and attacks. Various side quests and hidden endings increase the replay value of the games. The unique "Esper" magic system allows characters to cast over ninety different magic spells.A variety of optional "mini quests" add to the game's replay value.』

『I've played all the Advance versions of FFI-VI (except for III, which never made it to Advance as of this date) and out of all the 'Advanced' series, this one had the least to offer. If you liked FFIV, you'll like this. It's a solid addition to the Final Fantasy series, but the Advance version is not much different from the SNES version.

Some of the new things are nice, like the sidequests/bonus dungeons, and the fact that you can choose which characters are in your party (later in the game). The only thing I did not like very much was the fact that you had to defeat Zemus/Zeromus at least twice to get into all of the bonus dungeons, and to go into any particular dungeon, you had to defeat Zeromus AGAIN with the particular character that dungeon belonged to. So if I wanted to sweep through the bonus dungeons more than once, I have to go all the way through the Moon to Zeromus again. None of the other games had this requirement for their bonus dungeons.

Still, it's a overall decent game, and a must for any FF fan.』

(A must own classic with a nice make over)
『Any Final Fantasy or RPG fan MUST own this game! It was fantastic when it first released and still is today. The Advanced upgrade keeps the same fun and entertaining game with a new updated beautiful look. I love this game, you should too. :)』

(Someone Screwed Up The Port)
『This version of the game introduces an unfortunate lag between the selection of special attacks and their execution. This lag is so long that most special attacks become completely and utterly useless, and even spells become less effective, so in combat you'll be mindlessly attacking again and again until all foes are dead. Such was the greatness of the original game that it's still playable, but I'd recommend using another platform.

(Incidentally, if my information is incorrect, and the lag was as great in previous versions, then I take it back--this game sucks.)』

("We are...hatred...we are...Zeromus...")
『This is the second best Final Fantasy ever. Final Fantasy VI is the only one which beats it. This also has the second best array of characters (once again beaten out by VI).

Okay, the storyline is the best thus far in the series, starting out with a familiar theme: an oppressive empire plans to conquer and rule the world. However, this also mixes in another common element of Final Fantasy: the Crystals. The kingdom of Baron is plundering all of the Crystals for the ultimate power, unknowing that they are only a puppet. Cecil (one of the best main characters ever) is a Dark Knight who questions the authority of his king and his own struggles within himself. Rosa is a White Mage and his girlfriend who is constantly worried for him (not annoyingly, though). Kain is the leading Dragoon and Cecil's best friend who is also secretly his worst enemy for the love of Rosa, thus completing the love triangle. From here opens up a kaleidoscopic array of characters and their own struggles within themselves and the overbearing empirical rule of Baron.

This is the first game to institute the Active Time Battle system, the battle systems used in most Final Fantasy games. When one of your character's time line fills up, you can issue his/her commands. While he/she executes the command, you can choose another character's command and let the battle unfold. This is one of the best battle systems ever created for the RPG genre. While not as strategical as the turn-based system, it keeps you thinking on your toes.

The music is almost at its peak as Nobuo Uematsu once again captures the imagination of the deepest thinkers. The final boss battle music is the second best boss battle music in all of Final Fantasy (ONCE AGAIN behind VI).

This is the first game to incorporate the relationship between brothers. Cecil and Golbez are mortal enemies practically until they find out they are brothers. Then, it comes down to Cecil trying to find it in his heart to forgive him. This is one of the most touching stories in all of Final Fantasy. I certainly love it.

All in all, a great game and one that will surely stand the test of time with the best of the best. A treat for all fans, old and new.』

(Perfection!)
『This is the reason I became addicted to RPGs. I first played this game when it came out on the Super Nintendo. I had no idea games could suck you in to the point that you actually cared about the characters. The story is compelling and intelligent, the characters are well rounded and with interesting back stories, and the combat is simple and quick.

If you have played RPGs for years and never tried this one then it may seem too simplistic or archaic compared to Mass Effect or The Witcher but if you are willing to sample a bit of history then you are in for a treat. The new content is interesting for long time fans and newbies will get hooked on a great story.

Get the game while you can and don't forget parts V and VI for the GBA as well. If you have a DS they just announced the remake of this with voice acting and a new combat system. Check that one out too!』

『Final Fantasy IV Advance GBA This classic adventure includes 18 towns and castles, dozens of magical spells and hundreds of monsters, weapons and items to help players on their quests. The game features the astounding music, challenging adventures and interesting storyline that are the hallmarks of the Final Fantasy franchise. Additional game elements also have been added to enhance the Game Boy Advance version. Players can expect 30 to 40 hours of playing time as they journey on land, on sea and in the air, and explore new towns, caves and mountains in their attempt to recover stolen crystals. Twelve different characters with new abilities, spells and items join and leave the party at different parts of the quest to keep the game fresh.』

(This an epic great game!)
『this one heck of an rpg you'll be up at midnight playing this after this awesome experience you should consider getting the sequel final fantasy 3!
which is also really awesome!
Also check out skies of arcadia』

(love it)
『one of they best FF games every made who cares about 7 just get 2 and 3.』

(Awesome)
『The story in this game is definitely the best out of all of the FF games. The scope, spectacle and score of the game speaks to the incredible imagination of the creators. It should be made into a movie! (motion picture not anime)It would be a great epic worthy of an academy award. Perhaps ten or so games stick out in my mind from the SNES that are worth having, this one is in the top five.』

(good but there are better remakes; the SNES version is for a certain kind of gamer)
『As much as I love this game, it is no where near perfect. If you are a fan of SNES-era RPGs, I would consider this a must-play, and almost certainly a must-own. If you are simply a fan of RPGs or the Final Fantasy series, I would recommend either of the two Nintendo-console remakes--Final Fantasy IV Advance for the GBA Advance or Final Fantasy IV DS for the NDS. Both games have superior translations as well as the readdition of items and spells which were removed from the game when it ported from the Super Famicom to the SNES. Their graphical styles are different, however, as well as their "bonus content" and difficulty (the GBA game feels easier than even the SNES version--largely due to the extra content--while the NDS game is harder than both).

I heartily advise against the PSX version of the game, which has abominable load times and an unremarkable translation.

(Final Fantasy II)
『I love the game, it plays well. But you can't turn off the power because the cartridge does not save the game.』
『The second installment in this immensely popular RPG series comes to the SNES in the form of FINAL FANTASY II. Throughout the Kingdom of Baron, airships patrol the skies protecting the land. It's up to you, in this amazing RPG adventure, to defeat the forces of evil and their plan to control the mysterious crystals. Are you up to the challenge?』

(Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex)
『Thanks for the Ghost in the Shell patch. My son-in-law loved it. Thanks for getting it here on time for his birthday! I appreciate it.』
『Beautiful, cynical and deadly... no one fits the bill better than Major Motoko Kusanagi. Anyone who meets her gaze is changed forever. In this patch she's giving that very same gaze: her eyes looking forward with an intensity that belies the immense beauty of her artificial face. This is a classically cool patch that is a must-have for fans of Ghost In The Shell. Iron on anime patch.』
