(Cliche'?....Yes....Good Movie?.....Pretty Much) 『Okay...so Final Stab is definitely a cliche' film, there is no denying that. But why should it be hounded for being cliche' when nearly all slasher films on the market today are cliched as well? This movie was really a diamond in the rutt. I went in expecting pure garbage, but what I got was a decent horror film that actually made me jump, and did manage to create suspense. The only fault I find with this movie is the ending. The slow-motion scenes are WAY too drawn out, and even after the movie was over, I still wasn't sure who the killer was. I mean, the killer's story made sense until the last minute or so of the film, at which point, the whole thing kind of fell apart. This movie is definitely work renting and maybe worth buying if you're in the mood for old-fashioned, slasher cliche' fun!』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (So much fun long ago, and still GREAT) 『I got this game from Santa as a Christmas present ages ago when I was a wee lad. I remember my dad and I played this game while my family watched around the TV. It was a once in a lifetime experience playing this game for the first time as a kid. I was very lucky to get such a great NES game, especially considering it's a more obscure lesser known title.
This game was so awesome. I still pick it up and play it again now that I'm in my mid twenties. The graphics are good for the NES. The music is good. The amount of weapons, magic, armor, items, and powerups you can get are amazing for an overhead RPG Adventure game from this era. And all the weapons and items are useful and placed well throughout the game to keep you from getting too powerful too fast. The controls are good, and the menus are easy to understand. Pacing and difficulty are just right.
I love the boss battles. They are all diverse and challenging. Your allies, the wise men, and the townspeople actually tell you useful information and the story is also interesting. I'm surprised at how little known this title is considering how great it is, especially for an NES game. But everyone I've talked to that does happen to know about this game loves it. If you are a fan of classic adventure games or RPG games, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy. You won't be disappointed.』
(A Precious Gem to be Treasured) 『I first played this game about 12 years ago, Did Not Regret it at all. You see, it was sitting in my fathers collection of NES games and i picked it up, knowing very little of what to expect from a game that was not vastly known at the time, It was one of my fathers favorite games, he would spend Hours at a time playing this game, and when i popped the cartridge into my NES, i soon figured out why. The Storyline was so expansive and invigorating that it consumed my life for at least 4 hours every day, Even then it was hard to step away from it, The game actually gave me a challenge, which most games at that time i was used to and knew what to expect from each one. This game was so ahead of its time that many people did not pick this up, which they should regret doing, The story Begins in a post Apocalyptic world when Technology destroyed most of the towns, villages and wildlife, which caused the earths axis to shift causing mutations in the creatures, You awaken in a cave from a cryogenic sleep, and are told that you must gather together 4 swords, Sword of Wind, Fire, Water, and Thunder, and then, only then can you Obtain the most Powerful and Valuable sword in the game, The sword of Crystalis. You Begin Your Journey in the Town of Leaf and Visit the Elder, who tells you that a great evil emperor named Draygon (Also known as Draygonia)has Built a Tower in the sky and has brought back the ways of Technology. Now in a world Where the ways of Magic Flourish, you must oppress the evil Draygon and Save Humanity. *Note: Play the NES Version, NOT The Game Boy Color Version, The NES VERSION is far more superior and provides more of a challenge, the GBC Version is not a true Port of the original, Just letting you know.*』
(Crystalis - The Definitive RPG Videogame) 『*Crystalis - the one that started it all. This game was SO far ahead of its time when it was released in 1989. This game featured one of the most dynamic and expansive gameworlds ever created (for the time) with real-time action encounters with monsters and expansive landscapes with mountains, ice caverns, lava caves, deserts, riding on a dolphin on an ocean, underwater caverns, poisonous forest, etc. goodness knows what all else. The game is a true masterpiece and is so horribly underrated. It really is a shame. It was the first true rpg I ever played with the exception of Legend of Zelda, but this game holds a more special place in my heart than LoZ ever could. If you're familiar with SNES titles such as "Secret of Mana" or "Secret of Evermore", you will love this little NES treasure. It's still my favorite game of all-time.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (An invasional Assessment) 『I must say what a big improvement Ab Hugh's "The Final Fury" is over Voyager numbered novels 4-7 which have been less than eventful. I don't understand why this is book 9.# in the numbered novels when it's the last book taking place in 2371 during season 1 while books 7-12 (excluding 9) takes place during the second season in 2372. I have never read any of the previous invasion novels so I was num on the events that preceded this novel and the different Trek shows and time frames. I think this novel would have been excellent had it been adapted as a 2 parter episode cliffhanger (perhaps from season 1 to season 2). I think the Furies were an excellent villain, the idea of them taking over the Alpha Quadrant foreshadows some of the tough decisions Janeway will have to make in her 7 yr journey in the DQ (similar of saving Earth and the AQ from Species 8472). I do know Voyager was perhaps the only show where it didn't have any of those 'save the Earth is at fate' moments since they were lost and stranded 75,000 light-years away but it was great to see they could save the AQ from the Furies in this novel. Janeway grappling with the dilemma of the ongoing existence of the AQ or killing billions of Furies? It was a great ending to see them stranded in the Lesser Magellanic Cloud (only to be visited by Titan years later in the Red King). I think the terror weapon was terrifying and Trek villains tend to be more scientifically than actually downright evil, and I was glad the Furies made the exception. I am not sure how Lt. Redbay from the Enterprise made his way in the Delta Quadrant (unless the previous novels shed light on it). Also the Enterprise-D was destroyed before Voyager arrived in the DQ (unless Redbay had been there a whole year before Voyager or he severed on the new Enterprise-E. I thought AB Hugh added a lot of humor in some of the most tense moments of the novel: Tuvok and Carey in engineering, Janeway/Neelix/Tuvok in the Fury prison, and Janeway and the Doctor. The only reason this novel will not receive 4 or perhaps 5 stars is that at times (atleast 50-75%) it seemed more of a technical/scientific manual than an actual Voyager novel. I do know Star Trek is technical and scientific but not on steroids as this novel has been. Too much on details at times, and I got bored (disabling the moon, how to augment the shield geometry, how to get out of the prison cell, etc) needless do need to say more of the techno bable? Ab Hugh should had let the mind wander more and paid less attention to specific technical details that bore the average reader and he should have paid more attention to the storyline and the terror of the Furies.』
(Good start.....) 『This is a pretty good book, and I think any Voyager fan should read it. But it was also rather disappointing. The beggining was promising- it was creepy and psycological.....And then the author kind of drops that aspect and goes all action. B'Elanna is a bit too moody, and Neelix is....well, a bit too handy. But all in all it's worth the bad scenes it may have.』
(STV #9 Invasion! The Final Fury - A great conclusion!) 『"The Final Fury"serves wonderfully as the conclusion to this first grand four book crossover series! From his very first Star Trek novel, Deep Space Nine's #5"Fallen Heroes,"Dafydd ab Hugh has proven that he can write compelling Star Trek stories and"The Final Fury"serves beautifully in furthering that tradition.
As with his other stories, I found"The Final Fury"to be a highly compelling and intriguing tale based on a sound premise with excellent plot setup and execution and the pacing of the novel is extremely fast making for a very quick and satisfying read!
The cover art for this novel is nothing extraordinary, which, sadly enough is more the standard for the time in which this novel was published.
The premise:
While the battle rages on in the Alpha quadrant between its inhabitants and the invading Furies, the USS Voyager and her gallant crew are steadily making their way home when they receive a distress call from a Starfleet vessel, something of which they thought they'd never hear again. They soon discover the source of the distress call and massive Fury invasion fleet on a constructed planetoid containing twenty seven billion Furies. As the novel progresses, Captain Janeway finds herself in one heck of a quandary as she comes upon the realization that in order to save the Alpha quadrant, she must destroy the twenty seven billion Furies who are bent on invading the Alpha quadrant and a possible way for her ship to make it home quicker, if there is to be a home to return to...
What follows from there is nothing less than a impressive and decidedly compelling Star Trek Voyager novel and a brilliant finale to Star Trek fiction's first crossover series. I highly recommend not only this novel but the entire"Invasion!"series, whether you procure the individual books or the"Invasion!"Omnibus. {ssintrepid}』
(A few scenes saved it.) 『I like most Star Trek novels. They get talky and slow sometimes, but I try to plow through them. This one was almost more than I could take. Usually I can write long reviews about the books, but this would give me a headache. The bottom line: too many character mistakes, too much description and technological dribble, and only a few memorable scenes. First of all, Hugh obviously did not backround read on the Voyager series since most of the dialogue or interaction between the characters was out of place. B'Elanna's emotional insecurity would have gone well in an early Season One novel but not Season Three. The Doctor pretty much openly admits his crush on Kes, Tom NEVER called Harry by"Kim", and Neelix would be the first one to panic in the event of a capture not the one to get them out of it (hey, I like Neelix, but it isn't him). On top of those inconsistencies, the parts with the"fear beam"and the whole B'Elanna and Redbay mission was just Blah. I'll be the first to admit that I skipped that entire part. And just one nitpick thing: did anyone else who read"Soldiers of Fear"find it odd that Kes was uneffected by the furys as Troi was? Kes had powerful telepathic abilities in the series, but didn't even use them here. Never mind, I'll be quiet now. I have to say, the only scene really worth reading the book for was when Tuvok, Janeway, and Neelix were trying to escape from the Fury's jail. Although Neelix was out of character, it was pretty funny and had the best dialogue in the book. But, I did think it was stupid they used a h--- p-- to get out (I can't give it away!). That's all. The book was, to me, a total flop. I hope Hugh gets it right the next time (I hope there never is a next time!). After all, how hard is it to read a copy of Jeri Taylor's"Pathways"or"Mosaics"(two excellent books) so that you understand the characters? I mean, jeez, you're supposed to write about what you know. Unless you are intent on completing the Fury series or have a mission to read every Star Trek book, skip this one. Period.』
(Will Janeway be the biggest mass murderer of all time?) 『The final volume of the Invasion series is a pleasant surprise and makes for a fitting conclusion to the self-proclaimed"ultimate Star Trek saga."In Book One, Jim Kirk stops the advance guard of the Furies while Jean-Luc Picard prevents the next attempt at invading the Alpha Quadrant. Book Three, the best of the series and one of the best Star Trek novels I have ever read, has Benjamin Sisko and his crew dealing with the creatures that cast out the Furies from the universe five thousand years earlier. With Book Four we come to Kathryn (I think that spelling was used the most) Janeway discovering the next threat from the Furies. What makes"The Final Fury"so fascinating is that Dafydd ab Hugh provides not only some interesting Star Trek science problems but also give Janeway the biggest moral dilemma in Star Trek history.
There are 27 billion Furies living on a planet-like starship, having prepared for centuries to reconquer the Alpha Quadrant. They are going to make their sun go nova, harness the energy, and use it to transport themselves to the heart of the Federation when they will use their fear weapon to re-enslave everyone everywhere. While Voyager's crew grapples with the technical question of how to stop this from happening, Janeway has to deal with the responsibility that if they succeed they will kill every being on the planet. The trite philosophical chestnut,"If you could go back in time and kill Hitler as a baby, would you do it?"is transformed into a very real question for Janeway. The debate among the characters is very interesting, and quite surprising in several regards.
The main sub-plot has to do with B'Elanna Torres having a severe crisis of confidence. Although you have to remember this is early on in the Voyager storyline (Book 9), this is a bit contrived, but you have to respect the effort to develop the character a bit more in terms of being Human/Klingon, which the series failed to do until the last couple of seasons. Of course, the technical aspects of the storyline will ultimately depend on her. I also liked the way a minor but pivotal character from an earlier Invasion series makes surprise reappearance.
Overall, this is a more than adequate payoff for the Invasion series, which is pretty impressive because usually the endings are never quite up to the set up, a complaint I have been making ever since I first saw"Apocalypse Now."This volume ends with a series of words from the authors that are fairly interesting and provide more insights into what they were up to with each of their novels than you usually find in Star Trek books. Of course, if you have gotten this far you have already made up your mind on whether the entire series was worthwhile, but for me three out of four sure ain't bad.』
『For ages they have sought to claim our worlds. Now, at last, we take the battle to them. . . .
Far from the Federation's desperate war against the invading Furies, the crew of theU.S.S. VoyagerTM encounters something they never expected to hear again: a Starfleet distress call. The signal leads them to a vast assemblage of non-humanoid races engaged in a monumental project of incredible magnitude. Here is the source of the terrible invasion threatening the entire Alpha Quadrant -- and, for theStarship VoyagerTM, a possible route home.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (VERSUS BOOKS>BradyGames) 『great strategy guide. i had the BradyGames guide, and my friend had this. i had to borrow it because this blew my BradyGames POS to pieces.
this guide really helped while i trekked through the snow while the BradyGames guide made it quite confusing
i remember it helped with obtaining limit breaks easier. and it also actually provided information about each Ultimate Weapon.
good guide. wish i had it.』
(One of the Best Final Fantasy Guides Ever Made) 『The VERSUS BOOKS Final Fantasy VII guide has, over the past few years, become one of the most highly sought after strategy guides in existence. Going easily for more than $100.00 people are wondering just how fantastic this guide has to be! Countless reviews under the BradyGAMES guide even tell you to go with the VERSUS BOOKS guide. Unfortunately its out of print and Versus Books is out of business. However, don't be alarmed. This is a fantastic guide, but its far from being "the greatest strategy guide ever written," as so many have already gone so far to jump. It is much better than the official guide, and more organized, but it is not worth forking over the price that several people are constantly ask for it. Even if you're a strategy guide collector.
This is the strategy guide that ended up making Casey Loe famous among many video gamers. The guide begins with a heart-warming note from Casey Loe describing that you will find no spoilers (a promise he keeps) and then a fantastic game basics section. Usually the game basics are a rehash of the instruction manual. Not true here. In this guide the basics go so deep as to provide you with gameplay tips not listed in the manual. Tips that by now most Final Fantasy veterans know. Back then, however, these tips were boss. Not a whole lot of people knew them at all.
Then the guide jumps into the walkthrough, and this is by far what makes the Versus Books Final Fantasy VII guide the ultimate guide (and overall best one) for the game. The walkthrough is user friendly, not holding your hand, but being sure to point out all the important stuff. Each section begins with a check list of what you need to do (a technique BradyGAMES would later use in several RPG guides), followed by a complete list of items, and then all the enemies stats following the side. With each enemy is a list of their weakness, the enemy skills you can learn, what you can steal and what you can morph them into. Also, they list the HP, Experience and Gil obtained from them. No use wasting time giving us stats such as strength, magic etc. The tips are helpful, and the guide pretty much paved the way for no spoilers. There are no spoilers throughout the entire guide. The walkthrough is spoiler free.
The walkthrough also works in a unique way because where as each guide is often given its own section for secret goodies, this guide didn't bother. The guide is designed for you to use as you work your way through the game. Thus, whenever the secret becomes availible, it pops up in the guide. You'll be getting level four limit breaks much earlier than the official guide will tell you when you can get them. They even include secrets of the beta version that were later taken out of the game. The way the secrets are spread out causes for quite a bit of page flipping though, but as I said, the walkthrough is pretty well organized to the point where it's not much of a problem at all.
The guide doesn't have a final boss strategy either, and by now it doesn't matter. The guide also uses screenshots maps as opposed to the traditional maps seen in other guides.
After the walkthrough there's even more gold. A complete run-down of Gold Saucer, including what you can do with the items gotten from the battle arena (surprise surprise, nothing). The guide also provides fantastic boss strategies for Ruby and Emerald weapons.
Perhaps one of the greatest goodies of this guide are the materia combinations listed within the materia section. These combos are not only devastating to use, but allow you to fully restore your HP AND MP, while attacking an enemy eight times before your other characters ATB gauges even have a chance to fill up. They didn't put in all the combos they discovered, but they are combos that even expert gamers might not find so easily.
Perhaps the best part overall about this guide was that this is the only Final Fantasy VII strategy guide that actually tells you where to find all the enemy skills. This includes the often overlooked Chocobuckle. There is no other Final Fantasy VII strategy guide out there that gives the details on how to get this enemy skill. It's only within the Versus Books guide. They also have a complete list of items and equipment, including the useless things like the precious watch.
However, as I said, it's not quite as perfect as it seems. This IS the best FF7 guide, I won't lie, but there are things that do keep this guide from being the overall perfect guide. For one, the maps are just screenshots. They don't locate items or anything. The only thing these maps do is take you from point A to point B. In that regard the maps work, but you really won't find anything using these maps. The boss strategies are also really weak. While I enjoyed that they mention you can use a phoenix down to kill undead enemies, the strategies don't really go deep when they should. Most of them are basic, "just keep attacking him," strategies with no real insight as to what you could use to take out a certain boss. The only worthwhile boss strategies are the Emeral and Ruby weapons. Also, it's rather sad that with all the stuff they do tell you about enemies, they neglect to mention what an enemy is immune to, which in some cases could probably help.
Finally, the guide doesn't have 50+ secrets that aren't in the official guide. Actually, it's more like ten. And while we're talking about secrets, not even Versus Books has all the secrets to Final Fantasy VII. In fact, there are some secrets in the BradyGAMES guide that don't get a mention here at all. Since this guide wasn't done with the help of Square, and it was a beta version, there are some secrets that came around later that you couldn't possibly expect Versus Books to find (along with glitches). For example, they don't mention about the All Lucky 7's or the Special Cinema that you can view. And they claim the rewards for defeating Ruby and Emeral weapons are the gems with their respective names. There's also no mention of the Underwater Materia at all. There are also numerous typos and mispellings throughout the walkthrough.
Is this a great guide? You better believe it. The best Final Fantasy VII Guide you coul possibly buy. However, again, the prices that many people are asking for this guide are outrageous. It's a great guide, but not worth forking over 150 or 200 dollars for. If you find you must have this guide (perhaps you collect them like I do) then head on over to ebay, or good luck searching.
The Good +Detailed walkthrough +Fantastic Game Basics, stuff that actually isn't in the manual +Really clear and detailed screenshots +Tons and tons of secrets revealed, including some not found in the BradyGAMES guide +Well organized walkthrough +Great optional boss strategies +Crazy Materia Combinations +No Plot Spoilers
The Bad -Not EVERY secret is revealed -Weak Boss Strategies (Save for the optional bosses Ruby and Emerald Weapons) -There's no final boss strategy -Being one of the most highly sought after strategy guides of all time, this guide comes at ridiculous prices』 『This is the original Final Fantasy VII strategy guide publised in 1997. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review ("The Final Word") 『When it comes to strategy guides, no company does them better than Piggyback Interactive. Based in the UK, Piggyback rarely sends strategy guides to the states. When you get one, though, you're glad. These are detailed like no other guide you've ever seen. Their Final Fantasy XII guide is just as detailed.
At over 300 pages, this is Piggyback's biggest guide they've ever done. This tome is packed with more information than any other Final Fantasy XII guide you can find.
It takes a long time to jump into the walkthrough in this guide. It begins with the game basics that take up a ton of space. Mostly because it doesn't just get you adapted to the controls, but Final Fantasy XII's combat system. Giving you the run down on everything, including Gambits. Not only do they explain Gambits but they offer some pretty good examples of how to set them up. Using this guide you'll be able to set up a well balanced party. It helps to see just how good the gamebit system can really be. It'll also give you the low down on every character. Showing how much they'll level up and what some of their stats will be between certain levels. Just the same, this is the only guide that goes in depth on all the guests that'll join your party and let's you know what their gambits are.
Afterwards we get into the staddard items list for weapons, armor etc. Again, incredibly detailed but also helping you make sense of what everything means and how it is you'll be able to hit an enemy a series of times. After that, there's the bestiary. Separated by area, it's a helpful tool. Also showing you who your friend is. But beyond that, the game shows every Rare Game monster you can think of.
After all this we finally get to the walkthrough. It's spoiler free and details an optimal route through each section, while having lettered callouts on the map. Therefore, if you see "A" on the map, then look to the "A" section and read what you have to do. The walkthrough also details every extra as it comes up, pointing out that that's the best way to do them. Even if you decide not to do them at that moment, the "Extras" chapter will direct you to any page in the walkthrough that details a quest. It's a highly detailed walkthrough. If there was any complaint, it would be that boss strategies aren't detailed enough, nor does the guide provide you with enough screenshots. Don't think this means for a second this walkthrough won't help. It definitely will. It's far better than the BradyGAMES guide, but there are some things they might mention that you might need a screenshot so that you can figure out just what they're talking about.
With all the information packed into this guide you'd think page flipping would be a problem. It isn't. At the very back, there's an index that pinpoints you to everything the guide has. The guide is also spoiler free for anyone who is curious.
Piggyback has done it again. Crafting a guide that isn't just there to get you through the game, but helping to make sure you conquer it and leave no stone unturned. Piggyback hasn't just created a guidebook. They've created a friend.』
