(Quick and Easy Canning)

(Love this pressure canner!)

(Instructions are very clear.)

(Presto 23-qu pressure canner (01781) can be used on glass top stoves)

(Presto 23 Quart Pressure Cooker&Canner)
THE SHORT SCOOP:
1. I chose the free shipping option- it arrived the same day it was scheduled to ship, so shipping was faster than promised
2. Product works as it is supposed to and has several safety mechanisms built in that make it super safe and easy to work with.
3. Pleased, will buy it again if I ever need a second canner.

THE LONG DRAWN OUT SCOOP:
I started canning after I got married 20 something years ago. DH was a widower with 2 small boys from his deceased wife, and 2 children from a previous living wife. I was a 22 year old with no experience raising kids or feeding them. Within 6 months, his oldest son moved in with us. We were living on one income with 3 boys in the house, one of whome was a teenager. My mother gave me her canner and I got right to work those first few years. Then gradually life set in, had babies of my own, went to school and started working full time as a surgery nurse. Now that we were making more money, the garden didn't seem as vital to survival( big mistake)
Fast forward to this year. Due to my growing concerns about job security in this economy, and the rapidly rising prices of vastly overprocessed foods of questionable safety(do the letters GMO mean anything to you? Remember the produce recalls for e.coli?) we decided to start back up gardening.
My canner was so old that I couldn't read the numbers on bottom to get replacement parts. I researched, read the reviews, and asked some friends on a preparedness board, and ended up deciding to purchase the Presto 23 quart canner.

It arrived the same day I got notice that it should ship- this is in spite of using the free shipping option that meant it may not ship immediately. Evidently it shipped immediately, got it a full week before I expected it.
Took the gauge to my local extension office to be checked as recommended. Met some wonderful, helpful people that I had never realized existed. My gauge is half a pound off, so they recommended that I process at 7 lb rather than 6. I will get it checked again next year as recommended.

I processed my first batch of tomatoes last night. It got up to pressure much faster than I was used to with my old canner. It held the pressure consistenly, and on a relatively low setting. I did sit down near the stove so I could watch the dial, but believe with a bit more usage to get me comfortable I will be able to do other things in the kitchen as I am pressure canning, and not babysit the gauge so closely.

I had read the review from the person who had the canner blow apart. This worried me a bit. Now I am not worried. Either it was defective from the factory, she didn't get the gauge checked as recommended, or something wasn't put together right.
I would not hesitate to buy another one should my garden ever grow that big that I need 2 to handle the produce.

I purchased this pressure canner recently&have used it to can our produce coming from our garden. I compared brands&prices for canners at retail&online, but found Amazon to have the absolute best deal. There is one small problem that I have had to adjust to w/using this canner. It is not the canner, but my new glasstop stove purchased a few mths.ago. It is a challenge to get the pressure at the right temp&mostly to maintain it correctly. It has to do w/the glasstop stove maintaining heat longer than traditional stoves. It just takes practice&patience. The canner itself is great. I expect it to last for yrs. Great purchase!
I was actually scared of this when I first got it. By the way I recieved it the next day!I let it sit for about a week, reading the instructions. I had heard horror stories about pressure cooking. The instructions were clear and even told you how to do a test run so you can get the feel of your pressure canner. I havent stopped canning since.
I had a hard time finding a pressure cooker that would be okay for a glass top stove. This canner has a special bilevel bottom so that it fits on your burner. The 23qu also allows you to do cold water bath canning with quarts unlike the 16qu.
I have canned chicken, chili and spaghetti sauce.

This canner leaves nothing to be desired. It does all it says it does. The instructions should be corrected to advise 1 quart less or one half quart less in capacity if using wide-mouthed jars...but aside from the obvious this is a rockstar among canners. Save your canning money and get the Presto...This canner costs half compared to others of the same size and capability. I am delighted with this purchase, the shipping&arrival times as well as how easy to handle the canner is.
Preservation 500 23-Quart aluminum pressure canner

  • With Analog pressure gauge
  • Air vent/cover lock
  • Includes cooking/canning rack
  • Instruction/recipe book
  • Inside dimensions 11-1/2"H x 12" Diameter
  • Holds up to 24 half pint or 20 pint or 7 quart canning jars

  • Replaces Presto 07151 18 QT Pressure Canner
The USDA recommends pressure canning as the only safe method for low-acid foods such as vegetables, meats, and poultry. The Presto 23-quart pressure canner is more than adequate for any home canning needs. It's a professional-quality tool, made of heavy-duty aluminum, with stay-cool handles and a strong-lock steel lid. An accompanying rack fits down into the pot to keep jars up off the bottom, so that liquid can circulate underneath. And it can do double duty as a large pressure cooker. It's easy to cook healthfully with pressure cookers, since the food retains so much more of its nutrients and flavor.

The sturdy lid locks down during canning or cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. In addition to a pop-up pressure indicator and a simple steam release mechanism, there is an overpressure plug that will let off steam if it builds up excessively. The pressure dial gauge gives an accurate reading so that pressure can be kept constant during canning. This pressure canner is also a cooker that's useful for weeknight dinners or for any meal that needs to come together quickly. An accompanying booklet contains more than 50 recipes, ranging from basic soup stocks to stews and pot roasts--even sweets like English Plum Pudding or Brown Bread! Tenderize lean cuts of beef or pork, or cook chicken, fish, or vegetables faster than you can in a microwave, and without losing moisture.

Nonabrasive cleansers are best for cleaning this aluminum pressure cooker, though occasional use of a fine metal polish will help the exterior keep its shine. The lid of the Presto 23-quart pressure canner is not immersible. In addition, the sealing ring should be removed after each use to allow cleaning of the inside rim of the lid. The dial gauge is delicate; detailed care instructions are found in the accompanying booklet. The vent pipe is simple to keep clean with a small brush or pipe cleaner, and both the air vent/cover lock and the overpressure plug are removable. The pressure cooker measures 14 inches in diameter (17 inches including handles) and 15-1/2 inches tall (including lid). Presto guarantees this pressure cooker with an extended 12-year warranty. A detailed instruction and recipe booklet is included; special safety issues that pertain to pressure cookers are clearly explained.--Garland Withers

    (Love it!)

    (Great addition to the family)

(Neat machine - look forward to making more loaves)

    (The second Zojirushi)

(Highest Rating But Requires a Knack to Install Baking Pan)
Before purchasing a bread machine I spent hours researching online trying to determine which model would be best for what I wanted. I chose the Zojirushi for 3 reasons, the horizontal bread pan, the twin kneeding paddles, and the multitude of good reviews. It has lived up to all expectations. The bread turns out beautiful and it's easy to use and clean. The recipe book that came with it has not been anything special and I've found better recipes online but the instructions that come with the machine are important to follow. Definitely made the right choice with this one!
This is the best bread machine I have every used. I have made over a dozen loaves since it arrived. It performs as advertised. Brings happiness to family and friends.
This is my first bread machine, selected after agonizing over many, many reviews. I like it. I wish the display were backlit and a little larger. For my first loaf I used a mix, Hodgson Mills 9 Grain. Nice loaf of bread. The machine worked as the directions said and it was much quieter than I expected. This week I bought the ingredients to "go solo." I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to enjoying some great artisan breads without paying upwards of $5 a loaf for them!
This has always been the best bread machine on the market, in our opinion. The sour dough option is delightful to have. We use this machine at least once daily, and couldn't be happier with it.
We purchased our Zo,(Zojirushi BBCCX20 Home Bakery Supreme Bread Machine), as a replacement for another manufacturer's. The Zo is a far superior device and for the few months we have had it in our home has worked fine.

Installing the baking pan does require a knack. The external cams on the bottom of the baking pan must be properly aligned with the insert recepticals of the machine body inorder to install the baking pan. This task does get easier with come practice.

The Home Bakery Supreme Breadmaker bakes a large traditional shaped 2 pounds loaf of bread. Use Zojirushi's exclusive Home Made Menu function to adjust to the knead, rise and bake times. Also prepare dough, cake, jam, sourdough starter and even meatloaf in this versatile machine. Use the 13-hour programmable timer to have freshly baked bread ready as soon as you wake up. Homemade menu setting to bake meatloaf Capacity - 2 pounds loaf of bread Electric Rating - 120 volts, 700 watts Dimensions - Width 17 x Depth 10 x Height 12 inches Color - White
The Zojirushi Home Bakery Supreme is a state-of-the-art bread maker that combines a range of automatic controls with easily tailored options. Its 10 cycles are designed for making everything from wheat bread to cinnamon rolls and can also be put to work for non-bread items like cakes, fruit jam, and homemade meatloaf. Versatile controls let you use the dough-only function or make a loaf from start to finish, and handy programming options include a sourdough starter, a 2-hour quick-baking cycle, and three crust settings. The timer allows you to set all controls up to 13 hours ahead, and three memory settings store your most-used recipes.

Built with a durable plastic body, the Home Bakery Supreme has many structural plusses, including twin kneading paddles, a broad viewing window, and an angled control panel. A welcome alternative to the cylinder-shaped bread maker pans, the nonstick baking pan here turns out traditionally shaped, 2-pound loaves. Streamlined and manageable, the unit measures 16-3/4 by 12 by 8-1/2 inches and comes with a detailed manual, a recipe booklet, and a how-to video. Zojirushi includes a limited 1-year warranty.--Emily Bedard

    From the Manufacturer

What Makes the Home Bakery Supreme Special?

Bread made in Zojirushi's Home Bakery Supreme appeals to all your senses. The horizontal shape makes it look like an oven-baked loaf, and the crust control function allows you to select light, medium, or dark crust. The two kneading blades knead the ingredients more thoroughly to make it taste better, and waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread has never been easier with the timer function. You can also prepare the dough in the Home Bakery Supreme and shape it yourself to bake in the oven.

The loaf of bread you bake at home should look like a regular loaf of bread. Unlike other bread makers that produce vertical loaves, Zojirushi's Home Bakery Supreme bakes a large traditional-shaped 2-pound loaf, so the bread comes out the way it should, horizontally, and doesn't have to be sliced on its side. The Home Bakery Supreme makes it easy to prepare and enjoy the delicious taste of freshly baked all-natural breads in the convenience of your own home. Never again will you need to wonder if that store-bought loaf contains preservatives or additives.

    For Beginners and Experts

Not only is the Home Bakery Supreme an excellent breadmaker for beginning bakers, it's also a useful tool for expert bakers. Because it controls the temperature while the dough is rising, it takes the guesswork out of the leavening process. Additionally, the two kneading blades and the enclosed temperature-controlled environment knead the yeast dough better than any other method. Whether you're baking in the scorching sun or during a blizzard, the Home Bakery Supreme will give you consistent results.

All the bread cycles on the Home Bakery Supreme automatically preheat the ingredients to bring them to room temperature. However, if you find it unnecessary, you have the "Preheat Off" option to save time and immediately begin the kneading process.

    Two Are Better than One

The Home Bakery Supreme features two kneading blades instead of one to make sure all ingredients are thoroughly kneaded. Additionally, the two blades knead yeast dough better than any other method. Not only does thorough kneading make the bread taste better, but it also prevents unsightly flour on the side of the bread.

    A Host of Amazing Features

    • Recipes
Not only does the Home Bakery Supreme come with an instruction video, it also comes with lots of recipes. The recipes range from basic white bread to raisin bread, whole wheat and fat-free bread, pizza, pretzels, cinnamon-raisin rolls, strawberry jam, chocolate cake, sourdough bread, and Zojirushi's original Meatloaf Miracle. More recipes are available at Zojirushi's Web site at www.zojirushi.com.

    • Easy Gluten-Free Baking
If you are allergic to gluten, you can make gluten-free bread in the Home Bakery Supreme. No more rock-hard gluten-free bread bought at the store. Experiment to create your own new recipes.

    • Some Like It Sour
Sourdough starter is a form of the original "leaven" for bread. Traditional sourdough starter usually takes 7 to 10 days to prepare, but the Home Bakery Supreme comes with a Sourdough Starter cycle that prepares light sourdough starter in 2 hours

    • Large Viewing Window
The large viewing window allows you to watch the kneading, rising, and baking processes, so you can make adjustments if you find it necessary. If you need a better look, lifting the lid to peek won't stop the kneading or baking operation. Just be sure to close the lid when you are done looking.

    • Wake Up to the Smell of Freshly Baked Bread
It has never been easier with the 13-hour programmable timer. Just add the ingredients and set the timer before going to bed, and by the time that alarm clock sounds, you will smell the bread waiting for you. If you hit snooze, don't worry. The Home Bakery Supreme also has a Keep Warm feature to keep that bread warm up to an hour after baking.

    • Beat the Clock
In a hurry? Enjoy the aroma of freshly baked bread in just 2 hours with the Quick Bake cycle.

    • More than Just Bread
The Home Bakery Supreme can do more than just bake bread. It has a cycle for jam, cake, and sourdough starter. It also works as a portable oven, so you can make other dishes such as meatloaf or lasagna without heating up your larger oven.

    • Easy Creativity
If you like being creative, you will love the Home Bakery Supreme. The Home Made Menu function allows you to adjust each cycle to your preference and remember it, so you can make that perfect bread. If not bread, cake. Or meatloaf. Or anything you wish. Invent your own original recipes and see what you can make in the Home Bakery Supreme. With the three memory settings in the Home Made Menu setting, you have plenty of space for many of your favorites.

    customer 's review
    (My new best friend)

    (Great Lunch Box For Children)

(It works great, but it's not that big.)

(If your looking for proper insulation, look elsewhere.)

    (Great lunch box)
I did some research before I invested in a "lunch box" so I could start taking leftovers to work (our cafeteria is not great and we usually have lots of leftovers when I cook four weeknights out of five). This is such a quality item that is so functional and visually-pleasing that I'm surprised not every lunch-bagger carries one. I couldn't agree more with the scores of reviewers who say that:

    * It is very well-made with high quality plastic
    * It holds a lot of food
    * It makes packing (and eating) your lunch fun
    * Even at $38 or so, it will pay for itself quickly
    * The carrying bag is a great bonus
    * Comes with a fine spork that works with about anything but soup
    * It holds a good temperature, hot or cold

On the last point, I prefer to pack lunch the night before and refrigerate the unit. Microwaving at work is easy. If the contents really need to be kept cold, I'll replace the top small container with an ice pack that looks like a flattened baseball that Bed, Bath and Beyond sells for kids' lunch boxes -- most likely available at many stores. The ice pack goes in just before I leave for work, and the food is plenty cold at noon.

Couldn't be happier. Buy one of these for yourself and a loved one.

I bought it almost a year ago. It costed me 65 dollars at the time. I prepare lunch for my 3.5 year old daughter when she goes to her preschool. I use it for warm food and cold food. All teachers in the school love it and some teachers bought it for their children. It is really good.

Now, I have more time in weekends. I just bought three more because the price is half way down. I am going to use them for picnics in weekends. Sitting by a beach and eat my own prepared food, clean, safe and healthy. Great product.

The product works great. However, from the other reviews, you would think that this thing is very big. It's not. It's just enough food for my twelve years old daughter.

The carry bag should be bigger, so you can put a fruit in together with you bento.

I wasn't too thrilled with this product I use it because it's compact and convenient.
    Pros:
    1. Nice Portion sizes
    2. Metal Spork
    3. Nice trendy satin steel finish on the lunchbox, I guess.
    Cons:
    1. Terrible insulation when compared to "Thermos" products
    2. The build quality of the actual bowls and lid is mediocre at best (think kids dinnerware)
    3. There is no carrying handle on the actual bento box so you need the carrying bag (which surprisingly has all kinds of straps and a drawstring too)

I picked up this item in a local korean store. I love it. Perfect for the multi course indian lunch, picnic lunches just everything! Keeps it hot or cold and includes chopsticks. I'd buy it again but I already own 2. One for me and the hubbie.
Zojirushi's Mr. Bento Stainless Lunch Jar in Silver is unique and functional. Stainless steel construction and vacuum insulation. Four microwaveable inner bowls and washable container. Includes a convenient carry strap for easy transport and a easy to carry bag.

    (I LOVE ALI A. KHAN....BUT..............................)

    (Sublime)

    (Beautiful sounds)

    (Music for your soul)

(The genius of Ali Akbar Khan)
......I do not love this cd......as I am sure I should....the quality simply [...]......I do not know if it's just my copy, or what....but it seems as if this was recorded in a cardboard box using vintage Radio Shack dynamic microphones, circa 1959.

The digital remastering did little to enhance my copy...........

This early recording is a classic in Indian raga recordings. Ustad Khan proves himself to be a master. Each piece shows the beauty of the ragas, and as all true masters of music, finds new truths within each unfolding melody.

One thing I should point out. Raga Chandranandan, as I understand it, was the creation of Ustad Khan's father, the great Ustad Baba Allahudin Khan. He synthesized four different ragas to create this one.

Wanting an excellent CD of traditional Indian music, but being a novice, I chose this based on the hope that the title didn't lie. It didn't, this is a wonderful and expressive CD, each song starts slow and simple then builds to an exuberant ending. It is relaxing and playful to the ear and mind.
I simply cannot recommend this album enough.

The Sarod is an eight-stringed short-necked, unfretted, waisted lute carved from a block of teak and covered with a skin belly. The music is an ancient form of north Indian classical music. Khan is the 81 year old master musican who, performing on the Sarod and accompianied by tamboura and tabla, creates soundscapes of beauty.

Listening to this CD will calm you and educate you. It will transplant your soul to places located in your distant memory and to places found only in your imagination.

Ali Akbar Khan's many awards and achievments throughout his long career are not unfounded. His performance on this CD and others could be described as a mixture of Ornette Coleman, Shostokovich, Bach and Beethoven.

The CD contains a lot of groove and melodic beauty. It will also bring into your life a sense of peace that will withstand the overwhelming stress from the geopolitical wrangling of today. What more could you want?
To those not very familiar with Hindustani Classical music, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan is the Son of the legendary Ustad Allauddin Khan (also the Guru of Ravi Shankar). Raga Chandranandan is his own creation and among his performances of this Raga, this is the most brilliant. This is one of those recordings that I can not tire of repeated listening. This is Hindustani Classical at it's absolute best.

    (A Masterpiece)

    (The ISoS of My Life)

    (Worthwhile)

    (Another great Tiesto cd!)

    (Excellent condition and timely retreival)
I own many trance/techno CD's, many by DJ Tiesto and Armin van Buuren. This is by far my favorite out of all of them. Every song is amazing and they all flow together so well. I love listening to this anytime and I never want to skip a track. Many tracks are actually chilling. It is just a wonderful masterpiece. You will enjoy this CD set. Do not hesitate to pick it up.
I hadn't really listened to Trance on a regular basis, until one of my buddies introduced me to ISoS 7. I had heard of Tiesto of course before from Just Be and Delirium and many many other epic tracks.. but until I heard the compilation of music Tiesto puts together on an ISoS disc, I simply hadn't heard true trance.
I'm not too much of a blog nerd so I'm making it short and sweet. This double disc album is top notch, if you want to be taken away from your everyday life and onto a journey to wherever the hell you wanna go. Get this CD.. and get it now. It'll blow your doors off! PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

The ISOS albums from Tiesto range from good to extraordinarily good, and volume 7 is somewhere in the middle of that spectrum. While it's not an instant classic like volume 1&2 (which all trance fans should own. If you don't have them, buy them). The beats are there, with a real take off in CD2 where Tiesto kicks things up a notch. This isn't a casual club mix to dance into oblivion to; it's more complex than bubble-gum trance. Worth your time if you like Tiesto. If you're just getting started with the ISOS almbums, get Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 first: they are fantastic.

    4/5 Stars.

I think Tiesto is one of the best! They are all good and enjoy this music a lot. Gives me a lot of pleasure to listen to his work. Another great birthday present.
The CD's were brand new like it claimed and they got to me very quickly. I would definitely make more purchases from them again.
Double CD set from Tiesto in 2008 with his album, In Search of Sunrise 7. On this outing Tiesto takes us to the Far East. ISOS 7 was completely mixed and recorded in Thailand. The first disc expresses the beauty of Asia, whereas the second one offers an energetic view on how trance goes down when it is played with an Asian flair. The track list reveals the genuine style of Tiësto put together in the In Search Of Sunrise 7 Asia. The concept driven DJ mix series I.S.O.S. looks to explore the unique sounds of a specific geographic region with past stops in Ibiza, Lation America and LA. Tiesto has spent over two decades in the electronic music world and he is recognized asthe 'World's Number One DJ'. Many top artists call on Tiesto for his vision in remixing their tracks as he

    (Really good music)

    (Basic surfing discography)

    (Great Movie Package)

    (September Sessions)

(Not your typical head-bangin, bucket-throwin surf flick.)
What a good music. The surf is good and the music makes the movie really interesting even if it is too short.
I recently bought 10 surfing videos to get through my 8 months in Iowa before I can go back to Mazatlan. I think I did well on some of them in no small part to Surfer Magazine's list and Amazon reviews. My favorites are September Sessions and Thicker Than Water; a tossup, really. Buy them both and save the shipping. I've about decided that any film involving Jack Johnson and/or the Malloys is a no-brainer; get it. What you have is some of the best surfers in the world on a Menatwais boat trip, free from the pressures of contests, getting some of the best waves in the world and YOU, are invited along. These are guys who seem to get along well having a whole lot of fun. Brad Gerlach is a stitch - just non-stop funny and yeah, he surf for good brah. You can see a younger version of Kelly Slater and Shane Dorian with hair, Slater spitting some water out at the camera looking like a young Marlon Brandon and, of course, surfing insanely well; Dorian snapping his backside hacks with a robot-like precision; Rob Machado just so fluid and stylish, seemingly able to turn on the afterburner whenever he wants some more speed. But, hey, I'm not trying to critique the surfers it's just that you can't help but get into it. A massive plus for me is the extremely well-chosen music. I've become a fan of Jack Johnson's music as well as his cinematography. He's difficult to categorize but I think of what Michael Franks might have done if he'd been surfing in Hawai'i instead of chilling out in Rio back in the day. Another thing I like is the bonus commentary from Kelly, Jack, Brad, and Rob. I could watch this for days. As an added feel-good, the filmmakers are donating all proceeds from the sale of the film to SurfAid, a truly worthwhile organization helping the residents of Sumatra and the Mentawais with medical aid.
The combination of Jack Johnson and his friends music, together with some excellent surfing and locations, make an great addition to any surfers'Jack Johnson - September SessionsThicker Than Water library
Another good jack johnson surf video but this time with pro surfers kelly and rob at least. Smaller waves than Thicker Than Water, but more remote locations. It has more of a vacation feel to it. Same good music. I would recommend his first video over this one, unless you are into the filming 16 Mil thing.
This surf flick is nothing like "Hit&Run" or "Loose Change"! While the two previously mentioned are of the amp-you-up,@#**$-to-the-wall variety. September Sessions is more laid back and soulful in its presentation, in both audio and video. Kelly narrates the whole thing. Reminds me of my best sessions out with the boys catchin as many waves as you want til your arms turn to jello. This is surfing the way it's meant to be. Save the aggro for your crowded beach break when the girls are watching. We need a sequel!

    (The ONLY Adaptor to Have)

    (Perfect)

    (Did I miss something?)

    (Great little EuroPlug)

(Work Great as long as your device supports 240V)
If you need an adaptor and you have the round electrical outlets that use these specific plug-in prongs, this is the very best one to get. The small square ones have their place, but they don't fit snug in a round outlet. With this one you can use a grounded or non-grounded device.
Product is great and exactly what is needed. The shipment came quickly. I ordered it a mere week before I left the country but it arrived just a few days later.
I bought this before I went to Germany. The first day I tried using it with my hair dryer...it fried my hair dryer. It didn't seem to be "converting" the voltage so much as just allowing for the hair dryer to be plugged in. Did I miss something in the instructions? I could hear my hair dryer running about twice as strong as it normally does, then smelled something burning...then, no more hair dryer. Maybe this thing is only to be used with electronics that have the option of switching to a lower voltage? I'm just glad it was my hair dryer that got fried and not my camera battery. I guess for $3 you can't expect too much.
This is a great little EuroPlug. It takes up very little space in my bag, compared with some of the other more bulky models. This will work fine in many nations, but not the UK. I've used it in Spain, myself. Also not that this JUST allows your device to "fit into the wall". It does NOT adjust the voltage from Europe's 240 to USA's 120. For most electronics, this is just fine, but read your adapter to make sure it can handle 240! I used it on my laptop, iphone and digital camera, without issue. Don't try something like a hairdryer though!
Works great in Germany as long as your device supports 240V input (most laptops do, check the fine print on the power brick just to be sure).

Purchasing the adapter in advance of my trip was a good choice; saved me a few headaches that the other foreign students are now encountering.

I used this product frequently during a two-and-a-half week stay in Europe and it performed as intended. It is a simple product, so there is little to say except that it performed reliably and I'd buy more of these if I needed them.
I bought two of these to use in France. They work great. You don't even have to think about it. It's all you need for dual voltage items like computer, camera and cell phone chargers.
With something small like this, it doesn't need all the bells and witnesses. I just worked and worked great. It did exactly what it said it would. Quick shipping. Great buy.

    (PERFECT FOR PARIS/FRANCE)

(a good idea if you're traveling with electronics)
Used flawlessly in Paris and in the French countyside earlier this year. Used in multiple hotels, both newer and older hotels, and it fit and worked perfectly. Excellent quality so you don't have to worry about it breaking just when you need it.
I use the grounded adaptor for my laptop...most of the places I travel have very sketchy electrical systems and this just provides an added amount of security - you can also get small travel-size surge protectors that are highly recommended for laptops and charging batteries for pro-DSLR cameras. This one is small and the body fits into the recessed plugs commonly found in western Europe now - most eastern Europe areas still have the flush mount outlets and this works perfectly.
CE Certified Plug. Great Plug to keep your electrical appliances safe.

(I LOVE THE 3 BALLERINA TEA, ITS GREAT FOR YOUR COLON NEEDS, WHEN NOTHING ELSE WORKS, PERSCRIPTIONS, OVER COUNTER ITEMS, NO GOOD,)

    (Another Herbal Chimera)
I used it for over a month and did not loose a pound. It is good to keep you going on a daily basis. Keeps your stomach clean.
The first few days I used it (extra strength) I loved it. Started with one cup, not too strong. Second day, two cups, not too strong. It was great, surpressed my appetite, got things moving, pretty rapidly. However, I got cocky on the third day (yesterday). I drank one cup in afternoon, fully steeped...Then another cup after dinner, full strength over a period of one hour. What a disaster! I woke up at 1130pm and it felt like I had the flu, it till does in fact. I was up all night with the worst intestinal cramping and shooting pains I have encountered in a long time. I finally had to take some Tagament so I could get to work today and just had to take more tagament so I dont go home sick...Things are finally starting to settle down and I really learned a valuable lesson, dont get cocky with this stuff, it means business. However, if I go back to normal/beginner doses, it should work great. Wow, good luck though. I would recommend trying it out on the weekend when you have no major plans. Then you can kind of get a sense of the "timing". For me and my friend, we drank a weak cup of it at 7pm and it hit pretty much when we woke up, normal. And then the second day I added a weak cup around noon and then another after dinner and I held up okay...So, maybe start with one cup for 3-5 days until you build some sort of tolerance!
This product works!!! It takes like a full day to start working. But in the beginning I drank two a day and it started working. now i take one a day, and I easily go

I have to admit to limited personal experience with this stuff--I threw it away on day 2, lest I be hospitalized by day 5 or so--but a dieter would do well to go about weight loss the old-fashioned way: eat less.

Oh, this will cause weight loss; the contents of your bowels will be purged quicker than you may find comfortable--which, of course, weighs something--but I don't see how fat elimination can come of it, unless you find yourself spending so much time on the toilet you have none left for the dining room chair.

    (hi)

I first tried this incredible sauce at the NOODLES INC restaurant with a udon noodles type of dish with chicken breast and cilantro and bean sprouts. OMG !! this sauce is unique, sweet, perky and garlicky and this fresh kind of hotness you wont believe. I immediately went to King Soopers and bought the noodles, sprouts , cilantro and chicken and the Sauce to make this at home. YUMMMM !!
Very tasty. I think it is hotter than original Tabasco. It is really good on eggs. Also very good on El Polo Loco BRC burritos. In fact, that is my main use. Makes fast food Mexican promoted up to campy business district lunch place Mexican with their home made salsas.

It came relatively quickly. The box that it was sent in was too small, so the top was a bit dented, but it still worked.
3rd party seller did an awesome job of getting the product to me very quickly. Sauce very delicious

I cannot find this item in my local stores so had to resort to the internet. This item arrived quickly&well packed. Pleased with my purchase

    (Delicious Cocoa Powder!)

    (Droste Cocoa)

(I wanted to love it based on the hype ...)

    (Chalky Taste)

    (REAL Holland)
I bought this product previously, not realizing that I had an open container of another brand of cocoa powder which I needed to finish using. Once I opened the Droste Cocoa, I loved the rich chocolate flavor it gave my dishes. I quickly used up my first box, and recently ordered 3 more from Amazon. I highly recommend this product.
My mother used Droste's and it still is as flavorful as ever. I am ordering from Amazon because my store discontinued it. Thank you for carrying it.
... unfortunately, I was totally disappointed when using Droste. I looked high and low for it too, and paid $8/box thinking I would have an outstanding product. The finished 14" square X 4" high layer cake was very moist, but lacked the darker and richer chocolate expectations both in color and taste. In addition, it also allowed for the cinnamon taste to lean forward - which under the previous chocolate used, was considerably the faint surprise that flavor was meant to be. Droste may be wonderful for making devil's food, but did not hold up for the darker, richer chocolate that I was hoping for. I was very disappointed considering all the hype. But, I truly appreciate these posts. They are a source of helpful input, inspiration, and the kindliness of sharing one's experience. I appreciate all the information especially the comparisons to other cocoa powders.
I keep wishing I could love this cocoa, but I'm overwhelmed by it's chalky taste. I know others here feel very strongly for this cocoa and will disagree with me, but, following a hot cocoa recipe almost to the "T," I have consistently made the worst cups of hot chocolate of my life! I'm about to throw this cocoa out. My only hope is that it tastes better in baking, and perhaps my sister, the baker in the family can use it.
The Droste cocoa Product was shipped promptly and promptly gave me a surprise. It was Droste - Direct from Holland!
With Dutch printing and all of the European signs of an imported item.

A delicious drinking and baking cocoa powder. Great for an old-fashioned cup of hot cocoa or refreshing glass of chocolate milk, mix together two teaspoons Droste Cocoa and two heaping teaspoons sugar. Add enough water, milk or cream to stir to a paste. Add one cup hot or cold milk, stir well and serve. Excellent for baking.

    customer 's review
    (Not a good idea.)

(You get what you pay for)

(Worked great - until it didn't)

    (Coby-224 DVD Player)

(Pause and "R" Stop work very poorly)
After an expensive dvd player only lasted 4 years, and a mid-grade only lasted 2 years, I thought I'd buy this as temporary, until I found a nice one. In worst case, if it only lasts one year, it wouldn't be that bad. It arrived immediately, however looks nothing like the picture (it's black, not silver, with a different remote). And, after only 1 day, I had problems. It started freezing mid-way through dvd's. I'm returning it. Expect nothing but playing clean, scratch-free DVD's when it does work. And I must say, I'd have been better off spending twice the money, just to avoid any inconveniences.
I have two of these. The one that only gets used on rare occasions has been around for a year and a half. The one that gets used regularly lasted 6 mos. I guess in this case, low cost=cheap.
I bought this about two years ago from amazon. It worked great for most of that time. In the last few months, however, it's been slowly dying. Every disk was skipping after a while. Reinserting would sovle the problem. That problem became more and more frequent, and now it will read no disks.

I didn't mind the unit while it worked, though I had some quibbles. The remote layout is confusing, and switching menus can be excrutiatingly slow. But such things can be put up with for $28.

However, I think I'll step up to a mid-range model now. It'll probably last longer and it'll be one less cheap electronic device full of heavy metals I have to recycle.

I have had my Coby-224 DVD player for a couple of weeks, and it has
been used by myself several times. The remote control works well and is
easy to use. This DVD player plays major studio DVDs perfectly.Do not hesitate to buy this DVD player. The Coby-224 DVD player is so inexpensive, that you need not feel guilty for purchasing one.

For a very inexpensive DVD player this one is true to the quote "You get what you pay for", that said my grip is when you use either the Pause or R stop a DVD and after a period of time the player reverts to PLAY. Further if you go to Standby mode all R Stops or Pause is erased.

Slow and Fast Forward/Reverse do work well (be sure to hold the buttons down)

Audio and Video are excellent. The Remote control is small and very easy to use.

Progressive Scan DVD Player / Compatible to NTSC&PAL System / Plays DVD, MP3, CD, CD-R, CD-RW Disks / Various audio and video connects Zoom Operation Parental Lock Control Convenient On Screen Display 110-220 Automatic Power Adjustable Input Dolby Digital Audio Coaxial Digital Audio Out Analog Audio Output Component Video Out (Progressive Scan) RCA Video Out S-Video Out FCC Approved&UL Listed FDA Approved
Forget thinking outside the box--now you can stop worrying about the box altogether. Coby's DVD-224 is about the size of a hardcover book, so whether you're ferrying the player between the kitchen and the bedroom or hooking it up for periodic use by the kids, the DVD-224's small size permits enjoyment of DVD programs and music CDs in just about any room you want. While not portable in the traditional sense--the unit has no screen and requires AC power--the DVD-224 is much easier to move around, set-up, and use than a traditional component DVD player.

It handles not only your DVD-Videos (both NTSC- and PAL-formatted discs, depending on your TV), but it plays your music, too--everything from standard CDs to home-burned CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and MP3-encoded CDs. Further, you can load a disc brimming with digital photos for custom slide shows in the comfort of your home theater.

An onscreen display simplifies setup and operation, and the unit comes with a compact, full-function remote control. Other features include parental controls (with PIN lock), frame-by-frame slow motion, picture zoom (2x, 4x), and multiple-angle viewing (with applicable discs).

Like to travel? The DVD-224 won't hog space in your bag, and an auto-switching universal power supply handles inputs from AC 110 to 220 volts (50/60 Hz) for use in most countries. Accordingly, the unit's onscreen display offers a choice of 5 setup languages: English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian.

A composite-video output ensures compatibility with nearly any television and many newer computer monitors. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (choose from either optical or coaxial) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. A set of standard left/right RCA analog outputs simplifies hookup with traditional integrated amplifiers and most televisions.

    What's in the Box
DVD player, remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, and a stereo analog audio interconnect/composite-video cable.

    (Sanyo ECJ-HC55S Rice Cooker Review)

    (Perfect Rice and fast)

    (So far, so good)

    (Nearly Perfect)

(Excellent Quality- Sanyo ECJ-HC55@- 5-1/2c fuzzy logic)
Sanyo ECJ-HC55S 5-1/2-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker and Slow Cooker, White

I have now used the Sanyo ECJ-HC55S about 50+ times since I bought it from Amazon. Hopefully, my review will help prospective buyers make an informed decision.

As of 2009, Sanyo is offering 3 types of 5-cup Sanyo rice cookers in this price range ($100 to $135). There's the D55S, F50S, and HC55s. It was definitely a chore to sort through the marketing lingo and specs sheets. The final conclusions are as such: The D55s is at the low end of the spectrum, with fewer features and a thinner bowl. Both the F50S and HC55S occupy the slot above it. Between these two, the HC55S is the newer model. Features unique to it include: the tofu maker, the option to fine-tune rice texture (soft, regular, firm), and a dedicated slow cooker bowl. The HC55S also has low/hi mode for the slow cooking process. However, the older F50S retains one big advantage: Its rice cooker bowl is actually thicker (3.5mm vs 3.0mm). Thicker bowls are theoretically better at heat distribution. The thicker bowl explains why the F50S has a slightly smaller cooking capacity than the HC55S (5.0 cups vs 5.5 cups)

I decided to go with the HC55S, and it definitely exceeds my expectations. There are plenty of great things about this product, but it's not perfect. I only have two complaints, and I will go over those first:

    1. Non-stick bowl is only non-stick for white rice. I've cooked various white rice in this unit (Sticky Rice, Jasmine White) and the non-stick feature works as advertised. Very easy to clean. But brown rice is a different matter. I rinse my brown rice throughly 3-4 times, soak them for a few hours, before cooking. And every single time, there are little deposits that get encrusted to the bowl. I've used two types of brown rice (Thai Jasmine Brown, and Mahatma Brown) with the same results. And the hardened crust is DIFFICULT to clean up with a soft sponge! Soaking the bowl overnight doesn't help either. I have had to resort to using the "rough" side of my sponge to lightly scrub the crusts off. This method quickly takes the crusts off... but I worry about the long term impact of lightly scrubbing the non-stick bowl.

    2. My only other complaint? The unit is not designed to cook rice&steam vegetables simultaneously. It's technically possible --- there's enough room in the bowl for the steamer and about 1.5 cups of rice. But the steamer tray doesn't hang off the lid of the bowl. Instead, the plastic tray needs to sit on top of the rice. Making things more icky is the tray has 4 rubber feet on it --- presumably to prevent scratching on the bowl. I am definitely not comfortable with the idea of having the plastic tray, the rubber feet, and my rice all submerged together in boiling water for the duration of the cooking process.

Those two are the only complaints I have with this unit. Everything else about the Sanyo ECJ-HC55s is fantastic. Rice comes out perfect --- individual grains retain their consistency, and don't come out as clumpy as they did with ordinary rice cookers. The unit is also highly efficient at retaining heat. Other than the little steam vent, there's virtually no place for heat to escape the rice cooker. It is sealed extremely well --- heat and moisture are perfectly contained. I don't even bother using the "keep warm" function of the rice cooker. Even with the warmer function turned off, rice that was cooked at noon will remain perfectly moist and somewhat lukewarm at 6pm. This is a far cry from ordinary rice cookers I had been using for the past 30 years.

Computerized rice cookers are notorious for their sloooow cooking times, and the Sanyo ECJ HC55S is no exception. 1.5 cups of white rice takes about 45 minutes to cook, and brown rice needs about 90 minutes. When I bought this unit, I was definitely apprehensive about the long cooking times. But it turns out that it was no inconvenience at all. All I needed to do was adapt my routines to the new features offered by the HC55S. As a life-long rice eater, I had the habit of preparing rice about 30 minutes before lunch/dinner time. Given the long cooking times of these new rice cookers, I needed to alter my routine. I now use the timer function almost exclusively. Every night, I put the rice&water into the rice cooker at my leisure, and enter my approximate schedule into the panel (i.e. 11:30 AM tomorrow). And the next morning --- like magic --- I would find my rice freshly cooked at exactly 11:30 AM. Definitely very convenient. A precise schedule isn't necessary though, since the unit is great at keeping the rice fresh for many hours after it's cooked.

Overall, I highly recommend the Sanyo ECJ-HC55S. I would've given it 4.5 stars, but Amazon's rating system doesn't allow for 1/2 stars...

I've had rice steamers for years and because I take bento lunches to work needed a rice cooker with a timer. Well, abandon steamers. This makes far superior rice. Sushi rice is wonderful, and brown rice cooks wonderfully and in no time at all. The price is great and it has a small footprint, just perfect for small kitchen. It works for a family of four, sometimes with rice to spare.
This is the first rice cooker I have ever purchased. My wife and I have used this cooker for about one month and have been very pleased. It does a very good job on the white rice and the slow cooker is also very convenient. If any problems develop, I will come back and post them.
I will be frank: I love this rice cooker! Okay, that's out of the way. On to the actual review.

    Pros:
--Cooks perfect rice every single time. This presupposes that one follows the instructions. The cooker comes with a rice measure. Use it. Water to the appropriate line for the rice/grain of choice.
--Cooks brown rice beautifully. Again, use the rice measure and water to the appropriate line for brown rice.
--Cooks steel-cut oats beautifully. I use the slow cooker. 1 cup oats, 3.5 cups water, pinch or two salt. Cook for 1.5 hours. Add dried fruit and .5 cup water if needed (it usually does) and cook for another 15 to 30 minutes. I cook my oats at night for the week ahead so that I can haul it to work. 1 cup serving reheated for 2 minutes. I then add a touch (about 1/4 cup) soy or almond milk. Sweeten to taste.
--Cooks lentils and split peas easily in about 6 to 7 hours on low. Yes, the slow cooker will then sit on warm just like the rice.
--Easy as pie clean-up. I do recommend a gentle scrubbing. Be careful of your "scrubbie" as you don't want to scratch up that lovely titanium coating.

    Cons:
--Slow cooker cannot be set to start at a specific time. With plenty of "sauce," it can sit on warmer for a good deal of time. Just like rice.
--Has a large counter-top foot print. I leave my cooker plugged in at all times. I am hoping on avoiding the battery replacement issue mentioned in other reviews.

I have not cooked "regular" beans in this pot yet so I cannot speak to how those will turn out. If you are interested, watch this space for an edit later on after I have cooked beans.

And there you have it. I recommend that you place the cooker in your shopping cart and watch for the price to drop. The price seems to very, very flexible. I bought mine for about $90 but saw it go from $90 to $135 and then inch its way back down in the 2 months that I was trying to make up my mind which cooker to purchase.

    06/25/09 edit:

I have had a bit more experience with my new best friend so here is an update:

Lentils, on low, have taken up to 6 hours to cook. Black-eyed peas also take about 6 hours on low. I still haven't cooked beans so don't have any information there.

I finally was brave enough to try steaming eggs this week. These were the tenderist (is that a word?) "boiled" eggs that I have ever had.

Comment for those still on the fence: Now that the heat of summer is upon us, it becomes important to keep from over-heating my kitchen. This rice/slow cooker is one of the most important tools for me to do that.

I used this rice cooker 3 times this week, with 3 different types of rice to experiment with the rice cooker. The fuzzy logic is an amazing feature. It takes the worry out of burning and overcooking rice. Tonight I made a shrimp&rice creole. I added the brown rice and water to the waterline in the pot. I then added fresh mushrooms, giant shrimp, oil and spices on top of it and mixed it up. Put it on the steam "brown rice" setting and in approx 45 minutes had an amazing meal. All elements were perfectly cooked and not overdone. Pretty amazing cooker!! It's also very easy to clean, and I love the titanium bowls that come with it. I rate it A++++

    customer 's review
(Good quality. Good for 4 people.)

    (Good rice cooker)

    (Great little rice cooker)

    (It's Okay)

    (Rice crusty on the bottom)
It's just the good size for my family of four people. It's running well so far...
I have been using this rice cooker for a couple of months now and it works fine. I wanted one without a non-stick coating to replace my old Panasonic which was too small and had the Teflon coating which was peeling off. It is easy to clean up if you soak it for a few minutes. At first I was getting very soggy rice as I was following the instructions incorrectly - you should add the rice to the pan and THEN add the water as it says, not the other way round. Doh! And soak the rice in the pot before turning it on. Simple. I don't bother washing the rice first. It does tend to bubble at the top even with just 2 cups of rice, but not that bad. Always let stand for about 10 minutes after cooking to avoid sticking. All in all I am very happy with it.
I purchased this as a replacement for a 5+ year old (and smaller) Panasonic rice cooker that fell on the floor a few too many times (the on/off switch/lever eventually broke.)

Like the other one, this one cooks rice perfectly, is easy to clean, and remarkably easy to cook rice. Add rice, add water, press the one button it has...a while later, out comes perfect rice.

Having not owned any other makes or models (other than the other Panasonic), I can't say this is better than the competition - but it does speak volumes for Panasonic that I have no need or desire to look elsewhere for a great rice cooker.

Highly recommended, and would buy again.

Maybe it's because I left the rice in the pot too long, but a LOT of the rice stuck to the bottom.
There are two major problems for this rice cooker:
    1. liquid bubbles over when half filled.
    2. Rice crusty on the bottom.

Make cooking rice easy with the automatic cooking feature of this unit! The Automatic Cooking feature cooks rice at the touch of a switch and helps reduce overcooking. Keeps Your Rice Warm until You're Ready to Serve The Keep Warm feature helps keep rice warm up to four hours and also keeps your rice moist after cooking.

    customer 's review
    (pieces don't stay together)

    (Great puzzle!)

    (wonderful geography puzzle)

    (Fun and educational)
This is a great idea that is poorly executed. Because the pieces are shaped like the countries, they do not stay together the way a regular jigsaw puzzle does. This becomes very tedious for both child and adult--the puzzle comes apart every time you touch it to put in a new piece. In addition, the pieces are pretty thin--not as thick and sturdy as they should be for the price.

Very educational--it is just not very user-friendly. You will need a lot of patience with this puzzle ( and all the Geo Puzzle map puzzles).

I bought this puzzle and several others in the same series to help teach my daughter geography. She's only 2 and she loves putting them together as a family. She's helped put them together so many times now, she knows where most of the countries go and can say the names of many of them. My only complaint is that they are cardboard instead of wooden like her puzzle of the U.S., but I haven't been able to find any companies that make wooden puzzles of continents other than North America. Great educational tool!
We later bought all of the Geopuzzles because they are so great, but Asia was our first. These puzzles are tough and bright and big, and are great at teaching geography. I shopped around and I think these are the best. Our six year old, two year old, as well as my husband enjoy them a lot.
Although this product is aimed at kids, it's a great tool for adults too. There's something about having the shape of a country in your fingers and seeing how it fits among its neighbors to help you remember just where in the world it is. We've got most of these puzzles -- the one of Africa is especially helpful since many of these nations have changed names and we don't spend a lot of time in school on African history and geography.
Pieces are shaped like individual countries so that children acquire geography knowledge as they put the puzzle together. The puzzle includes the names of countries, capitals, and major bodies of water. They help to build fine motor, cognitive, language, and problem-solving skills. Includes 50 pieces. Dimensions are 19 x 16 inches. Ages 4 to 104.

(Great way to learn the world's countries)
We first got Europe, which we liked a lot. There is enough chance that it plays different enough each time to keep your interest.
The colors are not very distinct for someone will poor vision like me. I put initials for the colors on the cards with a black marker to solve that problem.
We bought USA next. It didn't seem as challenging. Maybe just because it was more familiar. When we played with USA and Europe side-by-side it was much funner.
Then we bought Asia. We only played it once by itself. Now we almost always play with all 3 together. To make it a little tricker, we include the St. Lawrance seaway and the Great Lakes as part of the Atlantic Ocean. We also make it 20 days instead of 10 days. With that many to link together your strategy has to be very dynamic.
We are looking forward to buying Africa, but I don't know how we will fit them all on the table. We hope they come out with one that includes Central&South America (maybe an "10 Days in the Americas").

You have 10 Days in Asia -- touring by train, airplane, ship or on foot. Chart your course from start to finish using destination and transportation tiles. With a little luck and clever planning, you just might out-maneuver your fellow travelers. Measures 9"L x 9"W x 9"H.

    (Great Board&Stones For The Price!)

(A quality, economy, starter board with good stones.)

    (nice !)
Wow! What a great set. It was delivered very quickly by Yellow Mountain Imports and was packaged very well too. The board itself is very decent quality and the stones are lovely to play with. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to start playing Go or as a gift.
Board is made of light-weight wood that is put together so well it is difficult to tell that it is not a solid piece of wood. The size makes it easy to carry and the board sizes make for quick games. The semi-convex pieces have a good feel for synthetic material and stay in place during play. The board, however, is sensitive to dings and spills. The plastic cases the pieces are shipped in are not good for permanent storage since the tops do not lock, nor do they have the esthetic appeal of Go bowls. The booklet shipped with the board helps make this a good gift, and it is also a good reference for beginners. This company is an excellent source for Go equipment. The shipping cost could be less, but the packaging was very thorough and protective.
This kit is especially good for beginners since on one side is a 9x9 board and on the other side is a 13x13 board.Standart 19x19 boards usually make it difficult to properly learn and practice go,and at times it can be scary really. That's why beginning to learn on a 9x9 board and then continuing on 13x13 board makes it much easier and fun to learn. In my opinion, you should buy a 19x19 board only after you master these two boards.I initially bought this board to both practice and teach how to play go to my friends;and so far so good.

The board itself has a smooth and nice feeling to it.The wood is good quality as far as I can tell, and seems pretty durable. The stones are much better than I've anticipated. You can always go ahead and buy cheaper go kits out there, but it's really difficult to find one with good stones. They will either be plastic which is not durable at all,or glass that's easy to break. However, the stones that come with this board seem like they will really last. And they can actually produce that snap sound when you play them on the board. As strange as it might be,that sound is pretty important for most of the go players. It just makes it more entertaining I suppose.

Overall this is a very good kit for those who want to learn or practice.I really suggest you don't buy any go kit just because it's cheaper. This one is worth the price. The reason why I didn't rate it five stars is because I haven't used it for a long time yet,so I don't know how the board and the stones will actually turn out in the future. You might not use it for that long though, since you would want to move on to the standart size board eventually.

This goban, along with our special new ''hi-tech'' stones, is perfect for learning Go, introducing Go to a friend or family member, practicing Go problems, or for quick Go games. On one side is a 13x13 board and on the other is a 9x9 board. Why play on a learning board? On a standard 19x19 board the possible combination of Go positions approaches infinity, and a game can last for hours - keep your skills sharp by playing on a smaller board when you don't have time for a full length game. Even if you already have a standard 19x19 goban, you'll appreciate the informality and convenience of this small board. This board is paired with a set of ''hi-tech'' stones. Our new ''hi-tech'' Go stones are made of a starch compound that is engineered to be antibacterial, biodegradable, perfectly shaped, economic and absolutely indestructible. These stones will never mold, chip, break or shatter. Also included is a booklet on how to play go, "The Way to Go", by Karl Baker.

(Learn the truth about "Dual Wattage" converter and don't get burned)
guys u have to stay away from this product.i just got this today and when i tried to use it to convert a 220V supply to 110V,18750W hairdryer it just exploded.flame burst out with a loud explosion after switching on the device for 2 seconds.good thing i was standing a distance away from it.i don't get it.is hair dryer not allowed? anyway, before i use it,it was already loose when i connect it to the adapter that comes with it.lousy lousy product.made in china.
This item offered here (VM 1875K WORLDWIDE CONVERTER/ADAPTER KIT) is actually two different converters built into one package. At LOW setting (up to 50W), it uses a small AC transformer to convert 220V sinusoidal waveform into a 110V sinusoidal waveform. This is the preferred approach which works well for any low power appliance.

To handle higher power, however, the AC transformer must be made bulkier and heavier (around 20 pounds just for 1000W). This makes it impractical as a travel voltage converter for large-wattage appliance. Therefore at HIGH setting (50-1875W), this converter simply uses a solid-state switch inside to chop off part of the input 220V sinusoidal waveform. This is exactly how an incandescent lamp dimmer works. However, its output waveform is highly distorted and is far from an 110V sinusoidal AC voltage.

A purely resistive appliance (such as travel iron or water heater) will work just fine regardless of different voltage waveform. But if you ever try to power an electronic appliance (such as TV, computer or battery charger) with this distorted 220V waveform, it will probably be fried in an instant! My advice is to stay away from this potentially destructive product - unless you are really, REALLY careful about what to plug in.

If you have to bring electronic appliances with your oversea trips, make sure they are rated for universal voltage of 100-240V AC. Power supplies for most portable electronics (laptop, camcorder, cell-phone, electric shavers, etc.) are already designed to accept universal voltage, although some of them may require you to physically flip a voltage selection switch - check the user manual or the AC input plug of your appliance to make sure. If that is the case, all you need is a set of plug adapters, which you can purchase separately without a converter.

World-wide Foreign Travel Converter Kit Converts 220V to 110 V 50/1875 Watts Provides for your foreign electrical traveling needs in most foreign countries. 50 watts is designed for answering machine devices, tape recorders, iPods, Phone chargers, for charging camera batteries, cassettes, radios, etc. 1875 watts is designed for some heating-type appliances for travel use such as shavers, curling irons, heating pads, electric blankets, baby food/bottle warmers, etc. THIS CONVERTER CANNOT BE USED FOR KITCHEN APPLIANCES OR POWER TOOLS.

(Inspirational and Timely: A Must Read True Story)

(For anyone that cares about children; ours and the world's....)

    (Obedience to your Heart Song)

    (Three Cups of Tea)

    (Three Cups of Tea)
Talk about current events and the on-going concerns about terrorism, Islam and the Middle East! This book filled in so many unanswered questions for me and brought to light once again the essential oneness and sameness that all humanity shares and how necessarily vital it is to approach the attainment of peace at the grass root level.

To say that Dr.Greg Mortenson is an extraordinary man is an understatement. His passion to promote peace through education of the impoverished Pakistani and Afghanistani children, especially the girls, is reminiscent of the same humanitarian spirit that motivated Mother Theresa's dedication.

Focused on the years since 1993, this story is a true account of his life: mountain climbing in the Karakoram mountains of Pakistan, fundraising for his vision, building schools under the harshest of conditions, bonding with the local tribesmen, enduring life-threatening situations, and total commitment to the the burning cause that ignited action to accomplish his goal. I believe he is succeeding.

I also believe, if you read this book thoroughly and digest its contents, you will be reminded of this adventurous account every time you hear the news of events concerning that part of the world. You will understand more deeply what is needed within the hearts of men to achieve peace. You will begin to lend your conscious support to the peoples of these regions. You will be uplifted to know about Dr. Greg Mortenson, his journey, and his accomplishments. You will be inspired.

This is the first review I have ever written on Amazon; though I am a voracious reader and have many books that I love, this is the first that has inspired me to such a degree. Three Cups of Tea was a remarkable book....though the beginning was slow for me, with the technical aspects of climbing, the book as a whole was a gift and should be read far and wide. With small children myself, I am extremely interested in education and the impact it can have on a child's life. Greg Mortensen's commitment to bringing education to children that are so very deserving motivates me to do more for not just my children and our community, but for those of communities in far and distant lands. If the stories herein of helping someone else's child do not move you (which I would be surprised if they did not), think about how Mortensen's work may very well make the world a safer and better place for your own children. READ THIS BOOK and let's all support Mortensen and his family in their tireless and selfless commitment to education.
Above all this inspirational story tells of one mans obedience to his HeartSong;- the unique path one must travel to allow ones heart to sing fully and freely and follow wherever it may take you. Paulo Coelho described it as one's 'Personal Legend.'
This is the story of Greg Mortenson's amazing journey to build schools in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Also have to admire the courageous and generous spirit of Greg's wife, Tara Bishop, whose Heart Song may also be heard loud and clear in this remarkable story. Extraordinary!!!!
Loved this book and strongly recommend it, especially as I am a teacher and also believe education is the best way to promote peace in this world and acknowledge that we are all brothers and sisters in this big human family.

A great story and a must read for most anyone desiring a closer look at this part of our world, its people and their lives, and particularly the education system. It puts things in such a remarkable perspective compared to what we as Americans have and often under appreciate, but this is not a sermon, it is the heroic journey of a man who gave up almost everything along the way to break down barriers for women and kids.
I found this book inspiring. To think that one man, with a kind heart and a dream could accomplish so much is almost unbelievable. I couldn't put the book down. Greg Mortenson is a true American Hero.
The astonishing, uplifting story of a real-life Indiana Jones and his humanitarian campaign to use education to combat terrorism in the Taliban’s backyard

Anyone who despairs of the individual’s power to change lives has to read the story of Greg Mortenson, a homeless mountaineer who, following a 1993 climb of Pakistan’s treacherous K2, was inspired by a chance encounter with impoverished mountain villagers and promised to build them a school. Over the next decade he built fifty-five schools—especially for girls—that offer a balanced education in one of the most isolated and dangerous regions on earth. As it chronicles Mortenson’s quest, which has brought him into conflict with both enraged Islamists and uncomprehending Americans,Three Cups of Teacombines adventure with a celebration of the humanitarian spirit.

    (An Incredible Journal of Heroism)
Very good read. Very riveting and hard to put down.
    Would highly recommend. Bravo!!!!!!

The story of 5th Group and the Northern Alliance is outstanding, but being a 20+ year veteran of Special Forces I was greatly disappointed in the research. After reading that Roger's Rangers fought against the British in the Revolutionary War as opposed to fighting with the British against the French in the French and Indian War I was amazed at such a historical error. Claiming Special Forces committed the majority of attrocities in Vietnam is just false. The story is good, the writing mediocre, and the research horrible.
This book was purchased as a gift. It arrived via USMail in a timely fashion and it was new as stated.
The recipient is very pleased with the book, its content and easy reading, etc. He highly recommends the book.

I was very disappointed by this book. The prelude to the fighting in Afghanistan was very well written, the characters were developed, and the anticipation of what was to happen next was very high. That's where this book is a let down. The description of the actual combat was very confusing and had me re-reading previous pages to ensure that I hadn't missed something. This one left much to be desired as far as combat books go.
This is not a Tom Clancy Novel. It is a non-fictional account of the unwavering courage of 12+ men who for a mere $50-60,000/ yr salary...risked their lives against overwhelming odds. If you had any doubts about the inhumane character of the Taliban, you won't after reading this book. The loss of only one American was equally unbelievable, fighting under such conditions. It is a great tribute to all of our military&CIA for preparing these men for this task, and then relying on their creativity and courage to overcome the obstacles no one could have forseen. It is a travesty to watch Nancy Pelosi, our Congress and the rest of Obama's administration attempt to weaken and challenge our brave men&women who keep us safe in America. Perhaps she should put herself in the sandals of an Afghan woman for a day. Once you start the book, you won't put it down.
From theNew York Times-bestselling author ofIn Harm's Waycomes a true-life story of American soldiers overcoming great odds to achieve a stunning military victory.

Horse Soldiersis the dramatic account of a small band of Special Forces soldiers who secretly entered Afghanistan following 9/11 and rode to war on horses against the Taliban. Outnumbered forty to one, they pursued the enemy across mountainous terrain and, after a series of intense battles, captured the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, which was strategically essential if they were to defeat the Taliban.

The bone-weary American soldiers were welcomed as liberators, and overjoyed Afghans thronged the streets. Then the action took a wholly unexpected turn. During a surrender of six hundred Taliban troops, the Horse Soldiers were ambushed. Dangerously outnumbered, they fought for their lives in the city's immense fortress, Qala-i-Janghi, or the House of War. At risk were the military gains of the entire campaign: if the soldiers perished or were captured, the effort to defeat the Taliban might be doomed.

As the Americans struggled to hold the fortress, they faced some of the most intense urban warfare of our time. But until now the full story of the Horse Soldiers has never been told. Doug Stanton received unprecedented cooperation from the U.S. Army's Special Forces soldiers and Special Operations helicopter pilots, as well as access to voluminous after-battle reports. In addition, he interviewed more than one hundred participants and walked every inch of the climactic battleground.

This exciting story is filled with unforgettable characters: brave Special Forces soldiers, tough CIA operatives, cunning Afghan warlords, anxious stateside soldiers' wives who do not know where their husbands have gone, and humble Afghan boys spying on the Taliban.

Deeply researched and beautifully written, Stanton's account of America's quest to liberate an oppressed people touches the mythic. The Horse Soldiers combined ancient strategies of cavalry warfare with twenty-first-century aerial bombardment technology to perform a seemingly impossible feat. Moreover, their careful effort to win the hearts of local townspeople and avoid civilian casualties proved a valuable lesson for America's ongoing efforts in Afghanistan.

Horse Soldiersis a big-hearted and thrilling read, with an epic story that reaches not just across the cold mountains of Afghanistan but into the homes of small-town America, and confirms Doug Stanton as one of our country's preeminent storytellers.

(A Definitive Study of the Death March and its Aftermath)

(The rare book that transforms readers)

    (Fantastic Book!)

(A moving account of quiet heroism and racial brutality)

    (A story of Survival)
This extremely well-written and carefully researched book is the definitive study of the Bataan Death March and its aftermath. It is a must read for those interested in World War II in the Philippines. It also is a detailed and often shocking chronicle of the horrors of combat and the incredible inhumanity with which the victorious Japanese treated their prisoners.

The book serves as a monument to the courage of the Filipino and American soldiers whose courageous stand slowed the Japanese juggernaut sufficiently for the allied reinforcements to save Australia, which then would become the launching pad for the counter attack which eventually won the war in the Pacific.

Finally, it is a story of survival. The survival of Ben Steele and others who through both luck and determination lived through the years of abuse and deprivation to rejoin their families following the Japanese defeat.

The book relies on extensive interviews with Americans, Filipinos and Japanese who took part in the events described. It follows Ben Steele, a young cowboy and evolving artist, through the horrific events of combat, the Death March, prison camp, the Hell Ships, slave labor in Japan and liberation. The book is illustrated by sketches made by Steele of his experiences. Surviving the war, he would become a successful artist and university instructor.

    J. Michael Houlahan
    Historian, Philippine Scouts Heritage Society

The Normans' magisterial history of one of the darkest chapters of modern warfare is one of those rare books that transforms readers. Those who read this book will be affected in different ways; some by the inconceivable suffering and cruelty, and some by the courage and grace of those who suffered.

The authors have included not only the entire history of the death march and imprisonment, but also the consequences of these things on individuals, especially Montana's courageous Army Air Force enlistee Ben Steele, one of the few who survived.

There was one episode that was particularly telling. After the war Steele became an art professor, and the day came when a Japanese-American student entered his class, and all the horror and bitterness and desolation of his three years of imprisonment rushed back into Steele's mind. But then he learned that the student's Japanese-American family had been interned here in the States. Steele invited the student into his office for a heart-to-heart talk, and out of it came reconciliation. Ben Steele treated his Japanese student with all the fairness he could muster. Other readers will discover other treasures in this powerful and luminous history. But no reader will finish the book unchanged.

Sort of like the movie "Letters From Iwo Jima," this book gave me a chance to learn about the average Japanese soldier and to begin to understand why Japan did what it did during the war. Nice read that will keep you turning the page.
Tears in the Darkness: The Story of the Bataan Death March and Its Aftermath by Michael and Elizabeth Norman, both professors, is one of the finest treatments of how American POW's were treated by the Japanese ever written. Tears in the Darkness is profoundly insightful and laboriously researched, and presents the reader with an honest view into both the American psyche as well as the Japanese victors.

As the son of a navy vet who served on an escort carrier in the Pacific and saw action at Macon Island, Tarawa, and later at Leyte Gulf, I found Tears in the Darkness very moving. I've read extensively about the Pacific war and in many ways still haven't forgiven the Japanese for what they caused. Political Correctness be-gone.

The Normans focus on a young American who happened to be serving in the Army Air Corps when the war began. Focusing on Ben Steele allows the authors to use his experiences to study the wider specifics of the Bataan death marches and the POWs later treatment in the camps. With information gleaned from more that 400 interviews and many of Steele's pen and ink drawings, they provide the readers of a later era a revealing glimpse into what true torture is. No water boarding here. Starved, deprived of water, beaten, and allowed to die of horrendous diseases, Americans and their Pilipino allies, suffered and died together.

By traveling to Japan to interview the few guards still alive, the Normans provide an authoritative element to the story they want to tell. Without allowing the Japanese an easy out, the authors do provide background that at least helps to explain the level of brutality suffered by the captives. No alibis here.....just facts about how the Japanese chain of command worked. Interesting.

I also recommend We Refused to Die by Gene S. Jacobsen as a companion read.

I highly recommend Tears in the Darkness.

    Semper Fi!

My name is Julie Jorgenson and I'm the daughter of Ben Steele who is the main character in this book. This book is about a man who survived the impossible and came home from the war and made a life for himself. He claims being a POW 1244 days has enhanced his life. Michael and Elizabeth Norman did a wonderful thing for our family by telling his great story for everyone to share.
For the first four months of 1942, U.S., Filipino, and Japanese soldiers fought what was America’s first major land battle of World War II, the battle for the tiny Philippine peninsula of Bataan. It ended with the surrender of 76,000 Filipinos and Americans, the single largest defeat in American military history.

The defeat, though, was only the beginning, as Michael and Elizabeth M. Norman make dramatically clear in this powerfully original book. From then until the Japanese surrendered in August 1945, the prisoners of war suffered an ordeal of unparalleled cruelty and savagery: forty-one months of captivity, starvation rations, dehydration, hard labor, deadly disease, and torture—far from the machinations of General Douglas MacArthur.

The Normans bring to the story remarkable feats of reportage and literary empathy. Their protagonist, Ben Steele, is a figure out of Hemingway: a young cowboy turned sketch artist from Montana who joined the army to see the world. Juxtaposed against Steele’s story and the sobering tale of the Death March and its aftermath is the story of a number of Japanese soldiers.

The result is an altogether new and original World War II book: it exposes the myths of military heroism as shallow and inadequate; it makes clear, with great literary and human power, that war causes suffering for people on all sides

Camper is more than a shoe company, it is the dream of a Majorcan family who have been manufacturing shoes since 1877. It is a Mediterranean dream that establishes a way of being, of living and of feeling. Their dream combines traditional roots with an industrial vocation and has lead Camper throughout the world. Camper shoes have a spirit and personality of their own, presenting a diverse range of footwear that combines design with imagination and functionality. They are unique and original, and constantly surprise. The slogan "Walk. Don't Run" expresses the Camper philosophy of slow living and their appreciation and attention to detail. These are values that are found in the original designs created with the passion and flavor of the Mediterranean.

    customer 's review
    (Stylish shoe)
This shoe is so stylish and handsome in person. I bought this shoe for my husband in a size 11. He usually wears a 10.5, and a 10 would definitely have been too small for his feet. Yes, the 11 is a tad large on him, but he has enough room to wiggle his toes. It definitely fits true to size and is worth every penny! Love it!
    CAMPER MENS ASIA18234-004
Camper's Asia sneaker features a leather upper with subtly stitched details for a sporty effect. The uniquely textured rubber outsole delivers comfort, traction, and flexibility. This modern-looking shoe will pair well with your favorite casual pieces.

Silk blend Sleeping Bag Liners for sensuous warmth and comfort. Camp out in luxury! A silk sleeping bag liner is far better than nylon, plastic or cotton against your skin. Silk is a natural insulator that breathes. A bag liner will add an extra layer of soft and breathable warmth and insulation while you're sleeping. Our silk sleeping bag liners are easily cleaned because it's machine washable - great for when you're on the move. It's always a good idea to take your own to sleep in wherever you go. This silk bag is excellent to keep in a purse, briefcase, car , office , or in a jacket pocket. they can be life savers in an emergency, or add the comfort of home while traveling, camping, hiking, hunting, etc. These bags are great for military also. Add degrees to your sleeping bags for those cold nights around the world away from home, they also add comfort and cleanliness to your sleeping arrangements. do you travel frequently? How clean are those sheets in your hotel room? and what about the bus, plane or boat trip. These liners will add some comfort to your long trip!Technical: The liners are lightweight at about, 9 ounces (260 grams), and fold up tight in their own 9 X 6 X 1 inch little stuff bag. They open large to 74 X 27 inches. Light enough for everyone to carry while traveling or hiking. We do not recommend a lighter silk as they lose strength and will not last. Likewise for mummy liners - there is no real benefit in using a mummy liner to save less than one ounce. A rectangular silk sleeping bag liner is far more versatile and is completely unnoticeable in a mummy bag as the silk is so slick that it moves well with you regardless the size of your sleeping bag.We have thousands of nights experience in this and have sold our liner for many years, all over the world. Ours are generous in size but still lightweight and designed to work well in any sleeping bag. It is stitched to last for many years when cared for properly.

(Meredith Baxter Gives an Outstanding Performance!)

(ONE OF THE BEST PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLERS SINCE MISERY!!)
This was a great movie and Meredith Baxter was outstanding and it was a complete shock to see her play such a psychotic character when you knew her as the loving mother with the happy, sunny disposition on Family Ties, she really scared the daylights out of me in this movie!
Like Kathy Bates in Misery, Meredith Baxter Birney delivers an outstanding superb performance in this made-for-TV thriller. In general, most people probably hasn't heard of the movie. When I first saw this movie on television ten years ago, I couldn't stop watching until the movie was off. In consequence, I bought the movie. Now, I have to say that this is one of the best made-for-tv thrillers I have ever seen. I would recommend this movie to anyone whose searching for a thrilling epic.

The movie starts out nice with Tommy(Billy), Florence, and Charles as one big happy family. Then, Tommy starts snooping around and questions whether or not Florence and Charles are his real parents. Continuously, Tommy has dreams of a playground (known as the kissing place). He pictures himself going down a slide. The more dreams he has, the more the truth reveals.

At last, when Tommy figures out once and for all that they are not his real parents, he takes a stand for running away and finding the kissing place. That did not stop Florence from trying to stop Tommy.

In the end, everyone mangles together to set the truth across. If anyone out there gets the chance to watch this movie, I hope whoever finds it exciting as much as I did!

    (dvd now!)

(A magnificent idea supported on an uneven script!)

    (I want my DVD!)

    (Brings Back Memories)

    (Inspiring Movie)
great performances. the best scene involving a plate of chicken - ever. we need a dvd asap.
Once more, we will have the immense pleasure to watch two legends of the cinema in the peak of its creativeness. The versatile Shirley MacLaine plays the role of a recent Jewish widowed and the well educated Italian gentleman, who also lost his wife.

Nevertheless, this autumnal romance really lacks of a true narrative vertebral column and from time to time yields us to effective vignettes, that work out as a tongue in the cheek. You should remind for instance "Moonstruck" to understand plainly the problem to deal with a heavy-handed script bounded with a magnificent and a superior cast.

Fresh and funny but ultimately disappointing.

I've loved this film for years and just came on Amazon to put it on my wish list, when to my horror I realized that it's not available on DVD! What gives?! I WANT MY DVD!
Please release a DVD! This beautiful film truly captures the essence of a New York family in the 60s. Great casting, great talent, great acting and beautiful photography make this film likely to make those of us who experienced this time period in NY very sentimental.
At her husband's funeral, a Jewish woman (Shirley MacLaine) is approached by an Italian man (Marcello Mastroianni). After offering his condolences he asks her on a date. She accepts just to shock her sister and mother-in-law who are watching over her with their instructions of what she can and cannot do. On their first date, for coffee, she learns that 25 years ago her husband was going to leave her but was talked out of it by the man who sits before her. He's waited all this time for her to be free. She doesn't know how to deal with information so she deserts him. He's not easily discouraged and positions himself in her life affecting both her and the members of her family.

This story is about life after death and how the death of a loved one affects those left behind; in particular, the wife and her two daughters and their children. Shirley MacLaine is excellent as the bitter widow who laid down her life for her husband and children and now that her husband is gone and her children are grown and on their own she isn't too sure what to do with herself.

Kathy Bates plays an overweight waitress with two children of her own and wears her pain on her sleeve while her Marcia Gay Harden plays her sister, a bank clerk who dresses up like different movie stars to cover up her pain. Marcia makes a hot Marilyn Monroe and Anne Bancroft. She has a son who things he's Superman and is grieving over another child that died. Both women gave stellar performances.

The costumes, food, funeral, wedding and family dinners are just window dressing for this gripping story about coming to terms with aging and the loneliness associated with both loss of love and loss of who they use to be. But it's also a celebration of the time remaining and finding a reason to celebrate each day. It was longish in parts and sometimes it was hard to understand what Mastroianni was saying but overall an inspiring movie.

Himalania Himalayia Pink Salt in Box with serving spoon 8.8 oz
Previously I had used coarse Himalayan salt and I got tired of grinding it because I use so much, so I was glad to find this salt that was fine grained. It works really well in an ordinary salt shaker.

It doesn't hurt that my favorite color is pink.

This is salt has a great taste to it and is more healthy than sea salt.
    Sheri

Himalania Pink Salt combines sublime flavor from the primeval sea with rich minerals including calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper and iron. This marine fossil salt, formed more than 200 million years ago and harvested from the foothills of the Himalayas, is 100% natural, unrefined and unpolluted pink, translucent crystals. (Still good, but getting old)

    (woot)

    (Disappointed)

    (Absolutely Horrible)

(A step backwards for Dynasty Warriors)
Much as I love the hack-and-slash Dynasty Warriors franchise, DW6 should have been a big leap forward as KOEI moved to next-gen and it really isn't.

Don't get me wrong, the graphics are gorgeous and the PS2 lag I loathed so much is gone. Some of the other buggy issues are still there, though, like when you're fighting an officer and he keeps disappearing because there are too many characters on the screen. And though an improvement from DW5, the navigation of DW6 could have learned a lot from the DW:Orochi games.

A major win for DW6 is that the story feels much more integrated, instead of incidental like older versions. There are more primary characters, and their histories are fleshed out to make some compelling reasons to fight. To that end, DW6 takes a slight departure in making the game more about the leader and less about the clan, and I'll be interested to see the hardcore fan reaction.

For me, though, it's still one of the best franchises to play co-op with a friend, and I very much look forward to DW6:Empires, due out summer 2009. I just hope KOEI makes a serious commitment to try some new things in DW7.

Ive always liked the dynasty series and this one has beaten them all by far. i like the new lvling system and everything. thank you amazon with out you i wouldn't have this game.
I really wanted to enjoy this game. It was entertaining for the first hour then it just got old. Bad draw distance and frustrating controls. Extremely repetitive.
Played the first level of this game the day I got it in and I was in total shock and awe at quite a few aspects of it (and not in a good way). The controls are barely par, the graphics look almost as if you're playing on a Nintendo Wii and it's just not even fun to play. Maybe the genre just isn't for me but I HIGHLY recommend renting this title or playing a demo before buying it. I wouldn't even trade any other title I own to get this one to be honest. Hope this helps and good luck.
Dynasty Warriors 6 marks the tenth or so game in this series by Koei, and it seems they're finally starting to make some changes. However, in this instance, they have largely been for the worse, and veteran fans like myself can't help but feel a bit dejected by the technical flaws, terrible story and characterisation, and complete lack of strategy.

As far as the story goes, most characters spend their time standing around looking broodingly into the distance, pretentiously pondering what all the carry-on is about and reluctantly going into battle only to discover their true selves and their destinies.

Although the graphics have improved a great deal (especially the environments) the gameplay seems to have regressed into an even more monotonous button-mash blow-out and still lacks any kind of strategy (unless you count "race around and do everything yourself" a strategy).
What's more is that everything slows down in big battles, which I didn't think would be happening on the new platforms. Another surprise is that the drawing distances of enemy soldiers are pathetic, which is really not good enough for the next-gen consoles, especially considering games like Dead Rising where you can have hundred of visible enemies on screen at any time.

Overall, I get the impression that someone new to the series might be quite delighted by their discovery of the Dynasty Warriors world. However, those like me who have compulsively been playing these games for some time will most likely be disappointed by what seems like a regression into even more mindless gameplay that completely lacks any strategy whatsoever.

Dynasty Warriors 6 will deliver the massive scale and realistic atmosphere that players have come to expect from the series, but will redefine the Dynasty Warriors' Tactical Action experience. With a new fighting system and entirely new action and motion, players can string together fighting moves and experience gameplay that closely resembles the action of a kung-fu movie. These changes The new combo system, tentatively called the "Renbu" system, requires specific button presses to unleash a variety of dazzling moves that will mimic the fighting movements seen in a Chinese martial arts movies. The system uses a Combo Gauge, which as it fills up, increases the Combo Level, which in turn allows the character to unleash even more powerful attacks and moves. The objective of this "Renbu" system is to add more visual stimulation while providing a sense of control over the action on screen.
Famous events of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms such as sieges and large-scale ship battles were previously shown only through event scenes. Now these exciting moments will be portrayed in real-time, with in-game action sequences. Players will not only see these events, but also live them, thereby recreating the feeling of actually being on the battlefield in ancient China.

If you think food comes from the supermarket, think again. People grow and nurture food. Those people are generally referred as farmers. Running a farm takes skill, ability, and talent. All in all, a farm is a place of business. It's a job. Pick a farm and run it. Can you profit from your produce? This Nintendo DS game tests if you're up to the challenge.
My Farm Around The World is a whole new kind of DS game which lets anybody become a virtual farmer, watching over their own personalized animals as they live and grow and building a successful livestock farming business. Choose from four different farms each with their own collections of animals: a traditional farm with pigs and ducks, an African ranch boasting lions and hippos, an Asian farm bursting with monkeys and elephants and a good old Australian ranch where crocodiles and kangaroos call the shots.
Choose your farm then start from humble beginnings: a single bird, an empty field and a few pennies. Buy food, clean, and care for your bird and watch him grow. When the eggs start coming, sell them to buy more animals which you can personalize and name as you like. Make sure you can feed them all though - if they can't get food at home they'll go elsewhere! Once your livestock portfolio really starts to swell you'll have more money to fix up the farm just how you always wanted it, with new fences, outbuildings and more. There's bonuses along the way for good farming and clean healthy animals including other animals or special buildings such as windmills. Days pass, nights fall and the animals sleep, but you can bet they'll wake up hungry the next day. Keep them well, and in time they'll produce their own offspring, and hasn't everyone always wanted their very own family of baby crocodiles or rhinos to care for?

Rise and shine to a new fun day on farms all over the world with the ultimate animal farm simulation game for DS,My Farm Around the World. Raise over 20 different animals including hippos, monkeys, cows, kangaroos and crocodiles on your very own farm. Start in the United states and take a unique trip around the world visiting Asia, Australia and Africa caring for native animals from each country as you build a farm business like no other.

    (Good game !!)

    (Match up to previous titles)

    (Dynasty Warriors 6)

    (Mass Annihilation)

    (Must-have for DW fans...)
I've played this game from it was the first one and I have to say that this has many changes. graphics and sounds are those that I love about this game because movement of the characters are much smoother, sound effects are intense and soundtracks are in rock style which keep you excited in battles. One thing that hasn't changed much are the fighting moves of the characters and the modes in the game. I look forward for playing the next Empire version of this game hoping there will be some more impressive changes in the game.
This game definitely can match up to previous titles. If you know the Chinese History from study, it really follows the history nicely.
This game is exelent it gives detialed information on the era of the The Three Kingdoms and has exelent nonstop action but most critics give the dynasty warrios games -B to a C because it lacks blood and gore, which is simply rediculous.
I have played every Dynasty Warriors game since 2005 and I like this one the best. The graphics have improved, the cut-scenes are better, the movements of most of the playable characters are way more fluid. At first I was disappointed because I kept getting beat on normal mode. This was due to just trying to plow through the levels like in previous additions. This game is a bit more technical in navigating the landscape and goals and it takes longer to build your character up. If you absolutly must begin a game on normal mode you better pay attention to the tips the game gives throughout the course and use the health gains at your local friendly fortresses or you will continually get beat. This game also increases the level of chaos around you. You can get lost in a sea of enemies and friendlies unlike previous games where it was crazy but everything seemed to be right in front of you. Oh yeah, be prepared to kill an average of 1000 enemies per level...no kidding. No more 300 or 400 kills. Some portions of this game will totally swallow you up and you will have to back out or face getting hit by someone you can't see. Not to mention getting continually run over by enemy horses. I love that about this game. Also, you can't just waltz into a fortress anymore either unless you get lucky and slip in before the enemy shuts the gates. If they shut them you must bash the door in. Once you bash a door in you're immediately confronted by enemies. The fighting system has changed from button mashing to extreme button mashing. The creators took away the different moves characters can perform by hitton the action button once, twice, 3 times then hold. Do you remember Ling Tong? That's my only gripe about this game. Other than that, this has taken simple button mashing to new heights. Every character does new moves for the most part and they are all awesome to watch. You can now roll your guy, somersault, or hand-sping to gain an advantage on a hard enemy depending on which character you are using. You can now have a horse by your side at all times and if you leave it you can call it back to your side.
If you enjoyed the previous Dynasty Warriors games, then you'll definitely love the new version. There are more than one goal to each campaign, not just one like previous versions. There are three "targets" to achieve in each scene and by accomplishing each target, you'll receive additional bonus points and ultimately unlocking new playable characters. You'll gain "skill" points after each campaign which you decide how you want allocated. You can opt for more attack, defense, musou, etc. - you decide. The combo-attacks only require mashing one button instead of two, but you still can use a heavy versus light attack with two buttons.
Overall, it's a fun game. Trying to achieve all the targets and the main goal can sometimes be difficult, but definitely possible. That alone will keep you playing for hours upon hours. If you're a DW fan, you do not want to miss this one.

(Good Map to use in SouthEast Asia)

    (DON'T BUY THIS ITEM!!!)
I used the map in Malaysia at the moment, it considered comprehensive and covered most of the street in KL and Klang Valley in details. I once did the cross-state drive along the west Malaysia coast line, it managed to bring me to destination without any problems.
I bought this item (GARMIN 010-11114-00 City Navigator Southeast Asia NT) in July of 2008 for travel in Thailand and Malaysia. Let's just say that I was driving on roads/streets/highways that doesn't even exist on this map. I don't mean traveling on a "newly" built roads/streets/highways. I mean the roads/streets/highways existed 10 to 15 years ago. Some existed decades ago!!! And some doesn't even exist anymore. I once set a destination for a well known seafood restaurant and the map took me to a dead-ended street and to cross the water to get to the restaurant. And no the roadway was not flooded!!! And how do I know about these existent you might ask. Well, I don't. But my family that lives there does. The information and detail in this map need to be updated. Don't waste your money on this product until Garmin update it. Currently, this is version 3.
Another thing, the English translation of the local names will have you pee in your pants from laughing so hard. Have you ever heard of Tinglish? Thai+English=Tinglish
Maybe you should buy this product for the laughs it generate and new and exciting adventure that await you when you're in a hurry to get to your destination.
    Best regard,
    Steve

(These are my favorite languages to learn!)

    (Absolutely a great packet)

    (Instant Immersion Asia Deployment Pack)
This software is so cool! I love learning these languages. Thai and Chinese are hard to learn, but I really love Korean and Japanese. This software is very good for people who are interesteed about the Asin languages, culture, or planning a trip to any of the countries in Asia.
Wow - I ordered this set primarily for the Mandarin and Thai training not knowing what I'd get. As it turns out I'm very impressed in both the quality of the training.

While there may be others offering language training, you'll be hard pressed to find such a great combo package.

What I got was a small box with the following 11 CD's

    Vocabulary Builder: Mandarin Chinese
    Talk Now! Mandarin Chinese
    World Talk Mandarin Chinese
    Talk Now! Thai
    World Talk Thai
    Vocabulary Builder: Japanese
    Talk Now! Japanese
    World Talk Japanese
    Talk Now! Vietnamese
    Talk Now! Tagalog (Philippines)
    Talk Now! Korean

The Talk Now CD's use quizzes, games and stories designed to maximize retention.

World Talk goes to the next level offering vocabulary and grammar. Also includes an interactive quiz show where I can compete against the program or another player. Then I can use the recording feature to compare my spoken Chinese, Japanese and Thai with that of native speakers -- excellent stuff!

And of course the Vocabulary CD's combine picture association and memory activities with educational games to help me memorize keywords used in 'survival' travel mode. Also includes the recording feature to practice my vocabulary and intonation techniques for correct pronunciation.

If you want to wonder around Asia this is a great way to get started.

    (Wow, simply wow!)

    (Death Note Kicks MAJOR A**!!!!)

(Did you know the God of Death likes apples?)

    (Great)

(LOVED IT ,REAL GOOD ,CLEVER COMIC MOVIE&GREAT SHOT!)
This movie is amazing! I saw it in the original Japanese shortly after it came out and it was good then, but the English voice actors made it their own. In the first five minutes or so the lip flaps not matching will drive you crazy, but once Light comes in and the voice actors any Death Note fan is used to start working their magic, it just blows your mind. A must see and own for any anime fan, let alone, any Death Note fan.
LOVED this movie. I looked everywhere for this movie, and was SOO happy to find it at such a cheap price!!! Delivery time was quick, and the condition was perfect!! I will do business here as many times as I have such great service!!! If you are a fan of Death Note anime, this movie (and the 2nd "The Last Name", as well as the 3rd, "L Change The World") is a MUST see!!! I am SOOOOO happy to have then entire live action set in my collection along with the entire anime series.
I recently purchased and watched this dvd, and I loved it. It was a great version of the manga/anime. I loved Light in the anime, and the live action movie did not disappoint. L was the most outstanding character in this movie. He was accurately portrayed, even down to his posture.

If you love the series, you'll want to see the characters 'come to life.'

This movie was done very well. It's a great live action movie version of the manga death note and I can't wait to see the second one. Light and L look just like the characters in the manga and they also have the same manerisms also. An awesome watch that is long enough to be satifying and I wish more movies done after mangas are done this well. Nicely done.
loved this it completely captivates you once you start watching this it just totally pulls you in. This is a great game of wits between two antagonists. What would you do? This question has been asked if you had the power. Well you know what has been said that complete power corrupts completely. I have seen most of the anime series on Adult Swim I was happy to see that they used the same English voice actors from the anime for the English language dub. They did compress this a bit but it plays out well with Death Note II the Last Name as a part II this really had too much to it to put it in just one movie I would suggest that you get both films at the same time for a complete viewing experience. Well you know what I thought I highly recommend this to any and everyone this really is a great film ,buy it rent it whatver,U have to see this!
I just bought this after i watching this Masterpiece for my collection to Keep for sure! A

The first live-action feature based on the mangaDeath Notecovers much of the same material as the first 12 episodes of the animated series. Handsome Light Yagami has just passed the bar exam, but he's repelled by the injustice of modern society. His life changes dramatically when he finds a Death Note, a notebook dropped into human space by Ryuk, aShinigami(god of death). If anyone writes the name of a human in the book, that person will die within minutes. Under the pseudonym "Kira," Light launches a gradiose vigilante campaign to rid the world of criminals and create his vision of a perfect society. But the string of deaths attracts the attention of the police, who refer the baffling case to the eccentric but brilliant detective known only as "L." The police are reduced to pawns as the investigation becomes a high-stakes battle of wits between Light and L. Director Shusuke Kaneko and screenwriter Tetsuya Oshi add a dramatic subplot: the fiancee of one of Kira's victim deduces the killer's identity. Tatsuya Fuj
