The rice comes out very nice and doesn't stick very much to the bottom. After 2 1/2 years of almost daily use, it's still working fine.』
(quality product) 『We got this rice cooker several months ago and we have been very happy with this cooker so far. We cooked white rice, brown rice, millets and it cooks everything perfectly. You just have to figure out how much water to add by trial and error because some rice varieties need more water and some less. We bought RIVAL (I think that is what it was) rice cookers from target before that and that is simply junk. It was cheap but the cooker was cheap too. Conked out within couple of weeks. We got a replacement from target but that one died too within a couple of weeks again. We did not want any more replacements, and Target would not give us credit, only replacement for the same product which is nothing but junk. So we threw it away. But this Sanyo cooker seems to be a very good product.』
(Great Buy!) 『I just love this little Rice Cooker! It makes perfect rice with no fuss. No more burned pots! And, it comes with a veggie steamer and a perfect special spoon to boot. I could not be happier. It is definitely a Great Buy!』
(WORTHLESS!!) 『This cooker CANNOT cook rice with its cover on without boiling over! I have an OLD 12 cup Aroma rice cooker and I NEVER had this problem. So if I need to cook only three cups of rice, I would cook it the old fashioned way .... ON THE STOVE IN A POT.
SAVE YOUR MONEY ... DON'T BUY THIS RICE COOKER!
』
(love this rice cooker!) 『I've used a large rice cooker for years and had been looking for a really good small one. This item fits the bill -- excellent for cooking for one or two people. Instructions are easy to follow, the teflon pot is easy to clean and the plastic "paddle" makes it easy to take stuff out of the pot without scratching the teflon surface. I really like this model. N』 『Perfect for one person or couples, this Sanyo rice cooker and vegetable steamer lets you prepare three cups of rice and steam fresh vegetables, too. It works with the flip of just one switch - nothing could be simpler! Once your rice has finished cooking, this small appliance automatically switches to a keep warm function to keep it at the right temperature until dinner is served. The Sanyo rice cooker and vegetable steamer has a white enamel finish on the outside and comes with a glass lid. The easy-to-clean inner pot is nonstick. A stainless steel steaming tray is also included for steaming a variety of fresh vegetables. Included with your Sanyo rice cooker and vegetable steamer is a measuring cup, spatula and a multi-language instructional manual.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Childern's Step Stool) 『Love the Step Stool, it is exactly what I was looking for! Sturdy and well made - the best stool I could find for a rough and tumble little boy!』
(Perfect for my toddler!!) 『Very nice hand made stool. Exactly what I was looking for for my 2 year old to be able to reach the bathroom sink. Nice to know you can still buy quality made goods at good prices!!!』 『These children's step stools are sturdy and there are no rough edges. Sanded smooth and varnished for easy maintenance they will last a lifetime. Did I mention they will hold well over 200 pounds!
Easy way for kids to get to the sink to wash their hands and brush their teeth. This sturdy step stool is very stable and the top step is a good size for small feet!Made with pride in Madison, Wisconsin, United States.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Simple yet haunting) 『Crain's use of the "Charlie Brown" piano sound seems rather incongruous with the enchanting melodies. The everpresent background cymbal can be a tad annoying, however. But, the album is one you will find yourself listening to repeatedly. I've found myself playing some selections over and over. They just seem to crawl in your head and stay there. At the very least, it's an excellent cure for driving in traffic. I can never stay in a bad mood after hearing it.』 『Piano instrumental』

An example of how the universal language of music transcends culture and time. bestirantravel.com/culture/musicperformance.html』
(Very Deep, Elegant and Masterful!) 『 This album is absolutely one of the greatest Persian classical music albums. Four of the best Persian musicians perform some of the most beautiful and expressive traditional Persian classical pieces, beside some pieces of their composition. Mohammad Reza Shajarian is the greatest living radif vocalist, Hossein Alizadeh is one of the leading tar players and a superb Iranian composer and Kayhan Kalhor is the best contemporary Iranian kamancheh player.
It is possible that the album would have been better if some other instruments were added such as the santoor and the ney, but this doesn't affect the music in this album so much.
The music is very touching, the poetry is great and so is the interplay among the master musicians..
This CD is the ideal introduction into Persian classical music.』
(Great CD of Iranian Classical Music) 『The Persian (Iranian) Classical Music system was not developed upon the Arabic invasion of 7th century A.D, nor within the Safavid court. Persian music dates back to the pre-Islamic, Sassanid Dynasty (224BC-651AD)of Iran and was created by Sassanid court musicians much before the Arabic invasion. These musicians were Borbad, Nakisa, and Ramtin and created a system of 7 royal modes, 30 derivative modes and 365 melodic movements branching from the modes, one melody for each day of the year. This was the first musical system in the entire Middle East! It was known as the "Khosravani" and the "Dasgtah."
The royal music functioned as court entertainment, but more importantly within religious contexts. The divine mantras of Prophet Zoroaster (Prophet of the world's first monotheistic religion) were sung within the modes as studies by www.raasti.com have shown us. Purely Iranian musical instruments are: Ney (reed flute, earliest known instrument), barbat (what Arabs call the Ud, created in Iran around 800BC), tambur (dates to around same time as barbat), setar (came after tambur), tar(came with setar but evolved to its present form later), dotar (same as setar), kamancheh(same time as barbat), gheichak, neyanban, sorna, balaban, tombak, dap (upon Arab invasion called "daf" because Arabs cannot say "p," This instrument dates back to Achaemenid Dynasty of Iran as is depicted on the ancient bass relief "Bistun") dayre, robab, and chang (harp, which dates back to 2000BC in Iran). These instruments were all used in Sassanid era of Iran through all the dynasties in between and to present day.
Upon the Arab-Islamic invasion of a Zoroastrian Iran, music was banned by Arab-Islamic fanatics and later by Iranian fanatics who had converted to Islam. The music was still practiced by masters and passed down to students in the same oral tradition. Once Iranians reclaimed their rule, they brought back musical activity. The Arabic language had an impact on Parsi (Farsi) because Iranians were forced to have Arabic as an official language. Later, Parsi became the official language once again. While some words in Parsi were replaced by Arabic words, Parsi remains the same Parsi spoken during the Sassanid era alongside the Pahlavi language. Because of Arabic lone words, the musical modes were called "mayehs" or "maqam" but they were the same Sassanid modes and melodies.
The art of singing poetry originated within the Sassanid Era. That's how they sung the Zoroastrian manthras within the modes. Non-religious poetry was also written and indeed sung by Borbad and other musicians during the Sassanid era. After the introduction of Islam, and by the Safavid era, Zoroatrian manthras no longer accompanied music. Songs of Islamic tales and poems by 9th-14th century Iranian poets such as Rudaki, Rumi, Attar, Khayyam, and Hafez replaced the manthras and pre-Islamic poems.
The fact that Iranian Classical Music is a spiritual tool dates back to even before the Sassanid and Achaemenid Dynasty of Iran! It is strictly an Iranian view that through music, one finds God. It has been since pre-Zoroastrian times. This is why Iranians incorporated music into Islam and founded their own branch of Islam known as Sufism!
Anyway, during the Qajar Dynasty of Iran, the ancient Sassanid modal system was gathered, revived and organized within a framework called the "Radif." There are 12 modes (dastgah) and 200 melodic movements (gushe). The majority of the modes and melodic mocements are from that ancient Sassanid system. But, because of the evolving nature of music, a few of the melodies were altered and a few others were added through time. The ancient compositions that were lost are because of those religious fanatics or because they weren't crucial.』
(Exotic and professional) 『Persian classical music is contemplative music linked to the poetry of Sufism. It belongs to a rich and ancient heritage, developed in the royal courts of Iran at least back to the 7th century A.D., and restricted to those courts until the 20th century. Since then the music has undergone change. It began to be performed at small gatherings at the homes of musicians and patrons of the arts. Following the advent of sound recording it became available to a wider audience, but went into decline after the 60s, giving way to pop music. Then after the revolution of 1979 there was a reawakening of tradition and the music once again became popular, being taught in classes rather than on a one-to-one basis, and played at concerts. In the last twenty years it has undergone further change by musicians exploring new avenues of expression while retaining the essence of the music.
Poetry is an important ingredient. The vocal sections of this recording are set to the poetry of medieval mystic poets like Baba Taher (11th C.), Sheikh Attar (12th C.) and Hafez (14th C.), as well as contemporary poets.
Creative performance is also an important ingredient. Persian Classical music is based on short modal pieces, often with just a melody line and a drone. The works on this CD are based on "dastagh Nava", a mode whose scale is similar to a minor scale with a slightly raised second, and embellished with virtuoso improvisations.
Instruments played are the tar (a plucked lute), a kamancher (spike fiddle) and a tombak (goblet drum).
This is a live concert featuring four prominent virtuoso musicians of Iran, bringing them together for the first time. The music is alternatively intense and meditative, flowing sinuously and vibrantly like a Persian carpet. Vocals may take a little getting used to but their exquisite fluidity is totally arresting, delivered by the undisputed master of Persian classical singing, Mohammad Reza Shajarian. The instrumental sections pulsate with energy and deft improvisation.
Recording quality is excellent. This is a special album for those keen on exploring the unusual and exotic.』
(Persian classical music at its best!) 『Superb, simply superb, I would highly recommend this CD to any fan of classical Persian music. The collaboration between these master musicians and singer(s) is simply amazing.』 『From the first moment when Alizadeh's lute gently breaks the surrounding silence,Masters of Persian Musicholds you spellbound. Four top virtuosi, including a father and son, take Iran's ancient musical forms and turn them into a timelessly compelling entertainment. The first thing that strikes you about this music is how spare it is: voice, lute, fiddle, and drum are rarely all heard simultaneously; each takes its turn in the spotlight to improvise with economical deliberation. You may also be struck by the way each instrument shadows the others--with the voice merely first among equals--picking up the same melodic phrases, and repeating them higher or lower. And you will become aware of the richness of nuance woven into every note; this expressiveness lies at the core of Persian classical music. Its alternating high-and-low, question-and-answer phrases are often described as "aloud and silent"--a paradox that nicely reflects its mystical religious roots. Transmission of this art has always been from master to pupil, "from chest to chest," as Iranian musicians say. Kayhan Kalhor learned his art in the dark days when his instrument was regarded as hopelessly passé. His tenacity is now reaping well-deserved rewards.--Michael Church』

That is certainly an accurate description of the music on this disk. The cantor sings with a loud voice, his long melodies punctuated by strange strangulated sounds. The choir attacks its part heartily, with great vigour and conviction, quite unlike the soporific gentleness of Gregorian chants. The verses sound very repetitive and monotonous, though if you listen carefully, there are often the subtlest differences in the "repetitions", and one feels that it is very disciplined singing. I did not sense much spirituality in it, but that is doubtlessly because I am not attuned to that particular way of expressing it. The quality of the recording is excellent. There are several other disks of Coptic chants, but this one is quite enough for me.』
(Not for the causual listener) 『I enjoy most chanting 'works' across the board, but I cannot recommend this one. You should only buy after you have sampled the CD because this one is not that great. It probably does excite historians and some intellectuals but purchase with caution. It won't be missed.』
(The Ancient Christian Music of the Coptic Liturgy.) 『_Coptic Liturgies_ as sung by the Ensemble David is an excellent recording of ancient Christian chant and liturgy from Egypt. Having recently attended an actual Coptic Orthodox liturgy (in the US) I was surprised in retrospect how genuine this music sounds. Most of the chanting is done in Coptic, the pre-Arab language of ancient Egypt written in the Greek alphabet. Several Greek phrases were incorporated into the Coptic liturgy such as the well-known "Kyrie elision" prayer ("Lord have mercy"). The liturgy also makes extensive use of Arabic as well. It is sung to a simple rhythm and accompanied by two types of musical instruments: symbols and a triangle. There is some speculation that knowledge of ancient Egyptian funeral rites had a later influence on how the early Church set up its liturgical celebrations. There could be similarities between mummification rituals and devotion to Christ who died and rose bodily from the grave. In all, this CD provides a great sampling of a chant that has both similarities and yet remains distinct from other Christian chants such as the Gregorian and Byzantine.』
(Wonderful) 『I bought this in paris, france 2000 at the institut du monde arabe for the exhibition of coptic art and life. The exhibit was excellent and this was the music they played and it is an excellent CD.』
(coptic liturgy) 『excellent, deeply moving spiritual music from an ancient christian sect of egypt. i like the"Liturgies of Coptic Orthodox"better which is under the classical section because it is an actual holy week recording. it is much better. but this is great. both are a must. relaxing and deeply meditative and contemplative. you feel like you are in a christian village in egypt on a sunday.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (turquoise lamp) 『the lamp was just like it looked online, beautiful shade of turquoise blue. my only minor complaint is that the turquoise glaze was missing on a section near the base . i had to turn the lamp to hide that flaw.』
(Good design, sloppy execution) 『I received this lamp and am disappointed in poor workmanship. The jar is placed off center on the base and it has large gaps between two parts of the jar. In addition, the coloring and glazing are sloppy leaving gray areas around and underneath the jar.
The color is beautiful though and the lamp is large and makes a statement in my room. Its very cheap looking within 5ft or so. i got 2 of them as gifts if i cant return them then i will simply throw them away.』
(Gorgeous lamp, much better than pictures....) 『This lamp is a bit expensive for the category that it is in. However, it is quite beautiful and much more elegant than the accompanying photo wood indicate. While I can't speak for the other finishes, the cherry rosewood choice is very striking. This is more mood lighting than practical lighting for a room, but if you are trying to create an elegant Asian feel, you can't go wrong here. For the quality level, it's a bit pricey, but aesthetically I am very satisfied.』 『Attractive variation of classic Japanese paper lantern, crafted from 100% kiln dried Scandinavian Spruce, with fiber reinforced pressed pulp rice paper shade&subtle cranes in flight design, diffused light creates a soft, warm glow in any room. Though it's true that the picture quality is not up to DVD Standard but to me it is fair enough in regard to the selling price. I'm proud to own the DVD by the way. Anyway, in the near future, I hope Video Asia would consider releasing some other rare war movies such as 1) Strike Commando 2) The Walking dead 3) Platoon Leader 4) Field of Fire 5) Crossbone Territory 6) The Devastator』
(More exploitation action films that you'll probably see nowhere else from Video Asia) 『This is yet another Video Asia release which means that if you know what you're getting- VHS sourced movies on DVD for a small amount of money- you'll be fine with it. If you're going in expecting a major studio release with fancy picture and sound you'll be disappointed. You have to understand that in many cases the company is the only one releasing the films in English or anywhere, the choice is these less than perfect prints or nothing. Most of what Video Asia releases are low budget exploitation films that were made fast and cheap for a buck and which no other company would put money into releasing because the profit margin is so small (so small for get about restoration). I don't mind it having purchased many of the company's other releases (The Grindhouse Experience series of example)
The source for these films are clearly video tape since you can see tape wear in a couple of films. For the most part even owing to the source tapes limitations things aren't that bad. The one real problem with a picture is Hell's Heroes (aka Inglorious Bastards 2) since it appears to have had the image cropped in an odd letterbox. I'm guessing that its the result of a non-USA source pre-anamorphic tape that had subtitles at the bottom of the screen (some Asian countries would have letterbox prints with the picture at the top of the screen and subtitles in the black space below.) Its a minor thing even if the picture doesn't quite work with the widescreen TV.
The films themselves are good Euro-war films of decidedly B level action and budget level.
Hells Heroes (Inglorious 2) is about a break out of prisoners in Viet Nam and how they try to get to freedom before they are retaken by the American army. Its a good looking film with a bit too much talking.
Bridge to Hell concerns POWs escaping from the Nazi's in Yugoslavia and ending up fighting with the partisans. Its a good little film that is mindless entertainment. (its uses some footage from another bigger budget film for some of the action scenes.)
Apocalypse Mercenaries is about a team of soldier who are put together to fight Nazi's in Yugoslavia. Its a fast moving action film that doesn't have tome to let you think about the silliness of it all. This too has inserted sequences from another war film. Its not always perfect but if you go with it you'll enjoy it.
Warbus 2 is an in name only sequel to a better film called Warbus (thats on Video Asia's Grind House Experience Merc collection). the on screen title is actually Afghanistan:The Last Warbus. Its a just okay war film about a green beret going into Afghanistan to get documents hidden on a bus. No it makes no sense and if you let it not make sense its a watchable little film. Personally I'd rather see the first film again, but I didn't hate this.
Are the films great? no they are all films for a rainy Sunday on the couch. Did I mind paying for the videotape sourced films? considering I paid about 6 dollars for the DVD which works out to a buck fifty each, no I didn't. Frankly I got four films for what was little more than the price of a rental at Blockbuster (and I know I'll probably watch all but Warbus 2 again). Honestly had this disc not come out I probably would not have seen the films. I like the films and accepted the presentation for what it was. If you want high quality movies in a high quality release look for some other titles. Of you want low budget exploitation films that you'll probably not see any other way and don't mind the bargain basement presentation give it a shot』
(Stay away from this hellish DVD!) 『I seen this DVD available a week early at my local FYE for $[...] and I was eager to pick it up since I am a fan of the original cult hit The Inglorious Bastards and am looking forward to Quentin Tarintino's upcoming remake. I admit to being suspicious of this product at first, because it looked like a cheap DVD and I figured it might just be a cheap cash in on the upcoming remake, but seeing as it came packed with 3 other war films for a decent price I took the plunge...and now I regret it.
The DVD is a doubled sided disc with Apocalypse Mercenaries and Warbus 2 on Side A and IB2: Hell Heroes and Bridge To Hell on Side B. The 2 films on side A feature irremovable Asian subtitles and have pretty lousy audio and video. The Side B films have no subtitles but are equally as bad in the A/V department. Inglorious Bastards 2 seems to really be a late 80's Vietnam War film titled Hell's Heroes and has no connection to the first film other than Fred 'The Hammer' Williamson appearing in both movies. The aspect ratio on Hell's Heroes is very odd...there is a thin black bar at the top of the screen and then a small box of the film on top of a massive black bar that fills up the rest of the screen. Even if you mess around with your TV menu to fit the image to fill the screen, it is still a horrible transfer.
I'm not sure how rare any of these films are, but I was never aware of a 'sequel' to Inglorious Bastards and this looks like the only way to get it on DVD. I rarely write reviews on Amazon, but I felt compelled to warn others about this poorly done DVD before they consider purchasing this. For those looking forward to the new Inglorious Basterds, I suggest checking out the original from 1978 which is a far superior DVD than this ca$h in and is now also available on Blu-Ray.
Edit: I have to admit I didn't bother watching any of the films in their entirety due to the horrible transfers, so I can't really comment on the merits of the films themselves other than they all appear to be B grade war films. I love B movies and Exploitation cinema (especially from the 80's) but I can't stand Dollar Store quality DVD's. 』 『Studio: First Look Home Entertain Release Date: 08/18/2009 Run time: 360 minutes Rating: R』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Abusive Teenager toward parent) 『I saw this on Lifetime Movie. It's not fair, that the mother gets arrested for something she didn't do.It was the other son that beat up the other son.』
(Dangerous Child review) 『Excellent story line! The mother made you feel the pain of a mother with a child that's "different" and the child showed magnificent acting ability in his portrayal of a emotionally disturbed young person. Acting realistic! Very good!』
(Children abusive to parents!) 『You always here about parents abusind children but not in this movie! The rolls are reversed. A teenage boy becomes extremely abusive to his devorced mother. This is a reality movie. And what I mean is this is some thing that happens all of the time actually more and more but it really goes unseen. How often do you hear about a child abusing their parents? Thats what I thought. But in the movie, you will see how a mother struggles to overcome this ordeal. And you will see how anger really affects some and how others around them learn to lie about the bruises, loud crashing of things and the truth. Every parent who has ever had an abusive child could see them selves in this movie. It was a great lifetime movie.....』

It has alot of suppense too like what's up with him? and what is wrong with him he has problems? or issues as I like to call them. Made with plenty of fresh whole shrimps, our chips are rich in calcium that strengthens bones and teeth in our body. In fact, 100g of Shrimp Flavored Chips contain 100mg of calcium, equivalent to that contained in 100g of milk. Animal fiber (chitin) in the shrimp shells is another nutrient contained in this product. I love the pictures and diagrams of the different cultural sites to see, and it's fun to read. I think it's best for getting a sense of where to go and what to see, and it also contains many interesting tidbits of information&history on each site. I hate the guidebooks that are all black and white text, they are so boring. This is a far cry from those types of guide books. It may not be quite as useful for finding restaurants and hotels and for getting around Japan in general, but I still think it's adequate in these areas. My wife is Japanese so she helps me with that part. But she also loves this book because it has such great summaries and pictures of the different places to see. She has discovered much about her native country thanks to this book! We won't leave for Japan without it.』
(Japan by DK books) 『After having the book for a month, I found that the printing on 2 pages of the index are blurred and very difficult to read. Otherwise, the book is very informative with excellent photos on good quality paper. Wish the book were lighter in weight though. When traveling, I'm always concerned about weight.』
(Japan) 『Like all Eyewitness guides it gives a good overview of the country and culture, together with detailed description and pictures of the main sites.』
(Excellent!) 『I have always liked DK's Eyewitness series of travel books, and "Japan" is consistent with their past quality. Chockful with useful information, and wonderful photographs. I particularly like their suggested "walks" amd maps. I do not use it for hotel selection and local travel details, but more for sightseeing information, cultural information, food, and such.』
(Visual Delights to Enchant the Traveler to Japan) 『I work as a specialized travel planner for travel to Japan and use this guide as a complement to the materials that I send to my clients. Why? Because the guide is great for pictures, general descriptions, diagrams and for giving a very brief flavor of a place and works very well when in conjunction with detailed instructions. I suggest treating it as a "McGuide" - it satisfies the immediate need for a bit of information while you're on the road. On the other hand, I would never recommend this guide as the only guide to take to Japan if you're doing serious travel planning while on the road, since there's just not enough hard information to make critical decisions on what to see and do on any given day. Many other reviewers have pointed out that there are few suggestions, no prioritization and not much "how to". On my last trip to Japan we used it as a quick guide on what to see in the smaller places and then relied on the ubiquitous tourist board stands to get information on specifics (maps, flyers, etc.). For example, in Hakone it mentions the "circuit", but doesn't give enough information to know how to actually do it. We had to gather that information from our hotel and our Hakone Free Pass paperwork. This guide also omits some places that western travelers might find interesting, such as the art installations at Benesse House on Naoshima Island or Karatsu on Kyushu Island. The very best things about this guide: short tours (such as Kiso Valley or Saga Pottery area) detailed diagrams (such as the Gassho-zukuri houses and Toshu-gu Shrine in Nikko) and lots and lots of photos on the same page as the descriptions. Oh, and it's also a great guide if you can pre-plan your trip and don't want to spend your entire vacation with your nose in a book reading rather than experiencing the place. Japan is such a fabulous place to engage with the culture and this book can help you make the leap from reading/observing to engaging by taking away the reams and reams of text found in other books.』 『The guide that shows you what other travel books only tell you!
If you are planning a trip to the Land of the Rising Sun, make sure you don't leave home without DK's Eyewitness Travel Guide: Japan. All aspects of modern Japan, as well as its history, art and ancient traditions are explained through informative text and spectacular photographs and illustrations. Learn about Japanese history and culture, and experience the exotic cuisine and entertainment. Over 800 full-color photographs, street-by-street maps, and aerial 3-D cutaways highlight all of Japan's major attractions. Japan's enormous variety in landscape (from near arctic in the north to sub-tropical in the south) comes to life like no other guide. Whether in Tokyo, Kyoto, Okinawa, Honshu, or Hokkaido this is the ultimate resource for all points of interest.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Heroic stories) 『Stories from the Alamo Scouts, an intelligence-gathering unit which served in the Pacific in covert operations during WWII. The beginning of the book starts off with a big WOW!, recounting the story of an elderly man with a cane being attacked by a mugger - and then promptly taking down the mugger using his cane. Immediately following that is another exciting story of an actual jungle operation. Compared to that incredible beginning, it gets a little dull while it explains the history behind the founding, recruitment, and early training of the Scouts. But it doesn't last long before getting back to exciting stories of dangerous missions.
For most of their history, the Alamo Scouts were considered secret and they and their heroic stories remained largely unknown. So it's unfortunate that by the time this book was written most of the men had already passed away. But Larry Alexander makes the most of the information he was able to get from the surviving members. There's a lot of dialog in the book, which seems a bit dubious given the 60 years that have elapsed since the events, and much of it sounds very Hollywoodish, but it's still a very exciting read. Readers who enjoyed Ghost Soldiers by Hampton Sides will likely enjoy this one, too.』
(Wonderful Book!!) 『I found the book to be accurate. The book had quotes that my Father had made. It sounded just like him talking. I would like to thank the author for his detailed research and honest protrayal of these unsung Heroes!!!』
(Better late than never) 『I picked this book up on Amazon.com. I read this book quickly for a couple of reasons, it was about an interesting subject that I hadn't read about before, and the book was a well written balance between high level strategy and personal experiences. The subject of this book is SIMILAR to that of a book I hated concerning the Australian commandos. [The reason that I hated the Australian commando book was that it was written entirely from the after action reports from the war. There were NO first person accounts in it.]
The author of the Alamo scouts book used a few diaries, and interviewed a lot of the surviving Alamo Scouts in order to get his information. Since the book was written in 2009 and since the Alamo Scouts worked in small groups (4-12), Larry was unable to get a full history of the scouts. Considering that the only losses of the Alamo Scouts were in training, this is an important book for a Special Forces type to read. The book as written is a 5, but since everyone waited until the half of the scouts had died of old age to write the book, it got a 4.

(Alamo Scouts - Pacific Theatre, WW II) 『One of the best books on WW II I have ever read and I have read extensively on this subject.
It is great to know someone is still uncovering stories that for so many years were "Top Secret" and are only of late becoming available to writers...late because most of these men are now dead of natural causes.
A must read for WW-II readers on another special group of men who led the way by working behind the lines of the enemy to get vital information for both minor and major campaigns (landings) in the Pacific Theatre.
Mr Alexander has outdone himself once again!』
(shadows in the jungle) 『this could make an excellent movie ...i had never heard of the alamo scouts but the cover leaf caught my interest&has been well worth the purchase..the book condition was brand new&received seeminly overnite...so seller does a 'bangup' job&comes highly recommended from my viewpoint...i would definitely recommend the reading to anyone interested in wwll history....』 『A new account of World War II heroism from the national bestselling author ofBiggest Brother.
Determined to retake the Philippines ever since his ignominious flight from the islands in 1942, General Douglas MacArthur needed a first-rate intelligence-gathering unit. Out of thousands, only 138 men were chosen. They were the best, toughest, and fittest men the Army had to offer. They were the Alamo Scouts.
Larry Alexander follows the footsteps of the men who made up the elite reconnaissance unit that served as General MacArthurs eyes and ears in the Pacific War. Drawing from personal interviews and testimonies from Scout veterans, Alexander weaves together the tales of the individual Scouts, who often spent weeks behind enemy lines to complete their missions. Now, more than sixty years after the war, the story of the Alamo Scouts will finally be told.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great beginner's Korean book) 『Got this book from library first and used it so much I decided to buy it. It's rare that I want to make every recipe in a cook book, but that's the case here. I wanted to learn about Korean food and, living in Los Angeles, I have access to a rich, authentic Korean community. I use this book to guide me in Korean markets. The recipes are easy to follow, they always work and they're very tasty. For anyone who wants to expand their cooking repertoire to include this great cuisine, I recommend this book. (Also, compared it to others in the library and this was my favorite.)』
(AMAZING!!!) 『This book is amazing! The photos are vivid and beautiful, the writing is excellent and clear. The recipes are absolutely delicious. A MUST for any cook's bookshelf.』
(Fantastic!) 『If you're looking for not only ingredient lists and recipes, but also an appreciation for Korean cuisine, I highly recommend The Korean Table: From Barbeque to Bibimbap. The author's have done a fantastic job of providing the reader with a good list of pantry items so that preparation is easy. The recipes are simple, yet delicious! Find yourself a good Asian grocery market, stock up on the essentials and then enjoy your creations!』
(A top pick for any seeking an introduction to the art of Korean cooking) 『THE KOREAN TABLE: FROM BARBECUE TO BIBIMBAP is a fine survey showing how to create a complete Korean meal from start to finish - including recipes for dishes such as Scallion Pancakes, Korean Dumplings, Ramen Noodle and Dumpling Soup, and more. Color photos throughout accent a Korean cookbook packed with dishes easy to produce at home, making for a top pick for any seeking an introduction to the art of Korean cooking. 』
(a great cookbook) 『this is a great cookbook for fans of korean food. it has lots of pictures which is always helpful, and what i think is a bonus is that it has a chapter explaining how to make all kinds of korean sauces!! also it has another entire chapter just for korean "side dishes" alone, (for anyone who's had korean food before, it's the small side dishes they always give you before the meal) and for me that was also great, b.c I'm not korean, and sometimes you stare at these 'side dishes' and wonder what they are.. the rest of the book also includes some recipes for korean hot pot, and other noodle and rice dishes.
My only complaint about this book is that most (not all) of the portions made in this cookbook are a bit big; most of them "serve 4" or more. otherwise this book is a must have if you love korean cuisine.』 『
