Super easy to load, then nothing to do but wait. It does take almost 4 hours for bread, so using the timer is best. The cake was apple/cranberry, which we ate at breakfast with cream cheese. A swish with warm water is the only cleanup. I do recommend an electric knife to cut the breads for a cleaner slice. It makes toasty, crispy outsides and soft insides. I don't know how a loaf could be more perfect.』
(Love it! Love it! Love it!) 『I purchased this about 3 weeks ago and probably have used it every other day since then. We love it not only is the loaf small enough that you can use it up in 2 days but the loaves are perfect every single time. I have not had one of them flop or fail to rise properly and I have tried a ton of different recipes. I also purchased a bread cookbook from this site so I have been able to truthfully say it seems to work on all kinds of bread.
Since I have owned 2 other machines previous to this I can say for me personally this is the best bread machine out there.』
(New Friend) 『I reluctantly gave up my old friend, a Rival Kitchen Pro Breadmaker, which had served me well for more than 15 years as replacement parts were no longer available. After research/reviews I settled on the Zojirushi BB-HAC10 which I have been using for about a month. I have made both bread and dough several times. The results have been entirely pleasing in all cases. The machine is quieter than the Rival and has a smaller footprint. The size of the loaf is just right for my needs. It is as substantial a machine as the Kitchen Pro and I expect it to provide many years of faithful service.』
(Great Little Breadmaker!) 『I bought the Zojirushi BB-HAC10 Home Bakery to replace another unit that was over 12 yrs old. The kids have grown and we could no longer eat the large loaves the old bread maker was baking before they spoiled. And we were also looking for a unit that was smaller than the old one, so we replaced it with this unit.
The bread this new unit makes is superior to the old unit, and is really high quality home-baked bread. I use the wheat recipe and have adapted it somewhat more to my personal taste. I also use it frequently for the pizza dough, and I have used recipes for brioche. Everything I have made in the unit so far has been super!
I would say I am very happy with this bread maker and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality home bread maker.』
(Great Bread - First Try) 『This is the first bread maker I have owned and I have only made one loaf of bread with it. I expected to have to try a few times and tweak this and tweak that to get a nice loaf, but on the first shot following with directions for a basic regular loaf, I got excellent results.
The machine has many plusses
- Simple simple simple to use - Clear easy to follow directions - Hokey, but useful, if you don't like to read, video about how to use the machine - Makes really good bread. - Small footprint, and nice small loaf good for one or two people. - Quiet, I haven't owned a machine, but I have heard one or two others run, this one is quiet.
With only one loaf of bread made, I can't really give you any real negatives. Few things I'll point out.
- on my one batch, the paddle did get stuck in the bowl, no big deal let the pan cool, put a little water in it, and in 5 minutes it came right out. Sounds common among bread machines. - Had a few small really hard spots on the crust, I think that was just some flower and water that didn't get fully incorporated while mixing and then cooked hard to the sides. No big deal, next time I'll pick them off before cutting and eating. - No it is not "programmable" like some other machine, so if you want it to add ingredients for you along the way, or you want to change the timing of functions, don't get this machine.
Cleaned up in a snap...
Very pleased and I'll update as I make more bread

I have probably used this baby over 500 times now, and it's still going strong (at less than 5 cents per use plus less than 15 cents in kernels). Only complaint is that the hood comes off it's it not aligned in the grooves, but it fits very easily. Hood also gets hot after popping, so careful if you're leaving it around kids. I would buy this little powerhouse again in a heartbeat. Works fast, not too noisy compared to other hot-air poppers, and only in the range of 20 unpopped kernels per large bowl.』
(Great, just what I wanted...) 『Works as it should. I remembered these from the 70's and my daughter wanted one. I found that they still make them, ordered it and it works like it should. Good deal!』
(No Complaints) 『This machine works great and makes perfect pop corn. Just be sure to unplug it when it's done popping as there is no on/off switch.』
(fast popper) 『i thought it popped fast once it started popping and the kids love to watch it pop. It was what we were looking for making lots of popcorn fast.』
(AWESOME!) 『I've had this for a long while (First appliance I bought when I moved out) and this thing is great. No mess, pops quickly, very few un-popped seeds. Add you're own oils/butter and salt and you're set. It pays for itself realy quick because pop corn cornels are a few bucks and last forever』 『Pops with hot air, not oil, for a healthy low fat snack. Pops up to 18 cups in less than 2-1/2 minutes and leaves virtually no unpopped kernels. For regular or gourmet popcorn. Removeable butter melter doubles as measuring cup. Easy to clean, base and cov er simply wipe clean. 120 Volts AC, 1440 watts. U.L. Listed.』 『Plug in the Orville Redenbacher Hot Air Corn Popper and the party begins. In less than 2-1/2 minutes you'll have up to 18 cups--two large bowlfuls--of fluffy popcorn with virtually no unpopped kernels. And because the machine uses hot air instead of oil, the resulting snack is healthier and lower in calories. That's not to say you can't add butter; in fact, the 1/2-cup measuring cup on top of the popper doubles as a butter melter. Simply put in the desired amount of margarine or butter (room temperature is best), and it melts from the heat produced during the popping process. The clear plastic cover and cup, which must stay on during popping so the popped corn doesn't fly all over the room, easily remove for hand cleaning with warm, soapy water. No other clean-up is required. While a few unpopped kernels spring out the chute as the machine begins to heats up, the chute does a good job of directing the popped corn into a bowl. The popper measures 14 by 9 by 6-1/2 inches, and is identical to Presto's PopLite Hot Air Corn Popper except for color and logo. Presto covers the popper with a two-year warranty.--Ann Bieri』

I have spent a small fortune on all kinds of coffee makers over the years. I mean all kinds. Simmply, the Presto Coffee perculator is the best any ones money can buy. I have gone through the all the others in the same catagory and they do not compare. This perculator makes a perfect pot of coffee every time. Delicous, hot, and delivers the most flavor from your coffee. I have spent on different occasions well over $190.00 on coffee makers, especially drip types and in comparision to the Presto, they do not compare. I guess the old time stuff is still the best. I don't mind a few grinds in my coffee. If you do, you can purchase, very inexspensive small round filters, and they work fine. If yopu want a real decent cup of coffee, better then any fine restaurant. Try the Presto. You'll be glasd you did. Excellent, excellent coffee pot.』
(Great coffee pot) 『Of all the different coffee pots I have tried in the last 50 years, I still keep coming back to this one. One of the best.』
(Presto coffe maker 02811) 『I have had this coffee maker for 14 years and it has been great ! The electrical cord died at 9 years and after 14 years the connection in the base finally did the same. It makes better coffee than the drip style. Great old fashioned quality. I just ordered another. Thanks Presto. Good Job』
(Satisfied customer) 『This coffee maker performed exactly as advertised. We are very happy with this purchase. As with many electrical appliances, the cord is too short for my taste. I recognize the fact that this is a safety measure but it is an annoyance.』
(Presto Coffee Maker) 『We've used this coffee maker for about three weeks now. It replaced one of many drip type coffee makers that would last a year or two before leaking or having other problems. This pot makes delicious, hot coffee in a few minutes....the pot is easy to clean, looks good on the counter and puts that wonderful "coffee brewing" smell in the air each morning. We love this pot!』 『Measures 10 by 5 by 13 inches; 1-year warrantyElegant stainless-steel electric coffeemaker with a classic hotel lookBrews 4 to 12 cups of coffee at a cup a minute; 800 wattsStainless-steel filter basket and perk tube for durabilitySignal light tells when coffee is ready; detachable cord for easy storage』 『One of the most comforting sounds in the world is the bubbling of a coffee percolator at work. And then comes the toasty aroma--it makes for a perfect morning. Percolators have come back to home kitchens, and the Presto 12-cup stainless steel coffee maker is a prime example. Its elegant, hotel-style design brings a touch of luxury to what is for many a daily pleasure.
This coffee maker brews up to twelve cups of coffee at a cup-a-minute rate, which it then keeps at a constant, piping-hot serving temperature. An indicator light in the base announces when the coffee is ready. The inner fixtures--the filter basket and perk tube--are also made of stainless steel, rather than the more common (and less durable) aluminum. The power cord is removable to make storage simple.
Before cleaning the coffee maker, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely. Wash the coffee maker with warm, sudsy water and dry it thoroughly; it is not immersible. To preserve the gloss of the stainless steel, do not use steel wool or harsh, abrasive cleansers. The perk spout and filter basket can be cleaned with a brush or pipe cleaner. If necessary, coffee stain remover can be used periodically on the interior surface. The coffee maker measures 10 by 5 by 13 inches (including handle, lid, and spout). Presto guarantees this product with a one-year limited warranty. A simple instruction sheet is enclosed.--Garland Withers』

(ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGED) 『Wish i could give this item an 0. but the lowest rating is a 1.
here is why
after receiving the item and trying it out on my stereo, the cd turned out to be something completely different!!!!! there were 16 songs on the cd which sounded like it was from a musical or some sort. i couldn't believe my ears. the contents had absolutely nothing with its contents. what made this worse was i purchased it as a gift...
thank you amazon for sending me such a "wonderful" cd.
』
(Fires away) 『Appropriately bombastic measures to the spirited 1812 overture provide complimentary contrast to other finely selected, fantastical selections in another riveting sampler.』
(Victory is assured) 『Truth be known, this peice was my first exposure to classical music. My dad had a symphonic only recording that he used to play a lot. It also seemed that I spent countless hours directing the symphony in my mind as I would listen along. This was real popular with the WWII generatin, go figure!
The chorus and bells truly empower this music to relems of elation. It injects majasty into and otherwise OK performance. Most lovers of our music probably have a half dozen or so of this peice but this one is deffenitly a cut above. For all you audiophiles out there that still have big HiFi systems, this will shake the house and tick off the neighbors. Highly recomended!』
(A fantastic recording) 『This is a fantastic album, not only for lovers of Russian music. It's actually my favorite recording of Tchaikovsky's "1812", masterfully conducted by Neeme Jarvi, and beautifully accompanied by the great Gothenburg Symphonic Chrous, the Churchbells of Gothenburg and real 19th-century cannons provided by an artillery regiment. Continue with Tchaikovsky's "Marche Slave": a fantastic melodic piece, so often undervalued by snobbish critics. One of the best pieces in this record is Borodin's "Polotvsian Dances", from the opera "Price Igor": the mysterious beauty of inner Russian melodies appears along with the powerful sounds that evoke Central Asia's warriors. Continue with a masterly interpretation of Rimsky Korsakov's "Russian Easter Festival", and you'll be entering, thanks to this unforgetable record, the fabulously rich world of Russian orchestral music.』

Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (A Must Have For Any Fan...) 『I have loved Asia since their arrival on the scene with their debut album back in 1982. This album was fantastic and the follow-up of Alpha, although not as great, did not disappoint those who wanted a continuation of their first album. I say a continuation because it was nothing ground-breaking, nor was it easy to remember which of the two albums a particular song came from in later years. Their third album, Astra, was a major disappointment to the fans and the band fell apart in 1985.
The band reunited in 1990 with varying line-ups for tours and a couple of studio albums, but nothing could match the magic of the original line-up. Then, when the original band-members came together for the 25 year anniversary show in Tokyo in 2007, I had to buy the CD to hear how the band would do after all this time. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the variations on old-hits of both Asia and some of the bands the members used to belong to. With the exception of "Video Killed The Radio Star" (at least in MY opinion), Asia was a worthy contender for my time and attention.
So, when Asia came to Los Angeles in July of 2009, I had to go see them play and was again thrilled by their sound, but also by the show itself... and to re-capture that memory, I turned to this DVD to bring those memories back alive.
I highly recommend this for any fan of ASIA and most fans of the "progressive rock" genre. While it isn't for everyone, I was quite pleased with it.』
(Grade AAA+) 『I started to hear Prog Rock since I was 13, today I'm 42, and, became, between other bands, a YES,ELP, King Crimson, between other bands, fan. Well, quite frankly, I was with not big expectations about this Show from, ASIA, you know, Howe with some health problems, Downes kind of out of shape, Wetton fat, Palmer with that "short weird hair and looking".... what a mistake !!! Those guys are booming and rocking better than on the begining of their respectives careers, very powerful, technical, keeping control of every little part of every song...Howe vibrating much more than at with YES, Palmer, kindly destroying and dominating the drums, Wetton singing perfectly from the botton to the top notes and Downes, with much more consistency and punch. Definetely , a Blue Ray concert that worth every minute and money that I spent. Prog Roch Forever and hopefully more shows and long life to ASIA !』
(Awful sound mix) 『Totally agree with a previous review about the sound mix on the Blu-ray disc - it's awful. You get 3 options, DTS-HD, Dolby 5.1, and LPCM. Both the DTS-HD and Dolby 5.1 are terrible - you can barely hear the guitar and anytime the keyboard plays it is way louder than all the other instruments. The only way this disc is watchable is by using the LPCM audio option, which doesn't suffer from the bad audio mixing, but still isn't worth paying extra for Blu-ray. Don't know if this is a problem with my player - it's a Panasonic DMP-BD35, but if you're looking for sweet DTS-HD sound, keep looking.』
(Great Show!) 『These guys are aging like fine wine. Wetton still has that clear and dynamic voice. The video and sound are done well and there is not a medicre song on the playlist in my opinion. Especially loved hearing "In the Court of the Crimson King". Amazing group of musicians.』
(Yikes! Sound Mix?!) 『I love ASIA. I loved seeing 'em live and was totally blown away. And, this is a great document of their tour--except for the sound mix! I was excited to hear the DTS-HD Master Audio and totally immerse myself in the band. Problem is, the surround mix just totally immerses you in Geoff Downes! I saw another review online that asks how this mix could've been released. I wonder the same thing myself. What happened?!! It's really like listening to the keys monitor mix. Can't hear Steve much at all, and Carl is a distant mono. Is this a problem with my player? Do I need to update it? Or is this issue with the mix? In any case, it's very disappointing.』

Raga's continually sound different as your awareness of notes, emotion, sound, ect grows with time and expierence. Raga Jog is a night Raga, and it surely sounds fit for this time of day. It conjures up many emotions; I interperate this performance as the feeling of a spritual awakening and the excitment of exsistence. Ravi Shankar is young here and plays a special performance. Its hard to describe these things in words. Next is Ahir Bhairav for the 6 am - 8 am time slot. The Third is a Simendra Mahyam, a south indian raga I believe sounds best at dusk.』
(Great background) 『I used to listen to my parent's LP of Shankar's Three Ragas. I'm psyched to have it again... it's great to listen to while I'm working or crafting.』
(Beautiful introduction to traditional Indian music.) 『Whether you are familiar with Ravi Shankar or not, if you have any interest in great music you should buy this album. I believe this is Ravi Shankar's first "Western" album, and it's a magnificent introduction to 3 different kinds of Ragas. The rhythms and artistry are simply transfixing. This should be part of any music lover's collection.』
(Ravi Shankar sitar) 『Strongly recommended if you're a fan of Ravi Shankar's or the instrument sitar or looking to get introduced to the indian classical music. Good "feel" of Indian classical music without the complexities. Relaxed easy listening. 』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Nice enough for the price) 『This is not a fine piece of furniture, but for the price one would not expect it to be. Most notably, the finish of the wood is not glossy or lacquered - just a reddish matte stain with little grain and no shine. The wood is also rather light in density. But it is reasonably well put together - nothing crooked or loose, the many right angles all look true. The paper shade (with plastic backing) lets a surprising amount of diffused light through, so it actually works better as a usable light source than I anticipated. Overall, good for the money if you don't expect too much.』
(Stunning!) 『This lamp provides an excellent complement to any bedroom. The light is such that its intensity is damped by the paper and comes out soft and brilliant!』

Usually ships in 2 to 4 weeks Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Must See) 『Actor Shahrukh Khan is the ultimate showman and Om Shanti Om the perfect showcase for his brand of talent. This campy, retro spoof is directed by Farah Khan, who choreographed the Broadway musical Bombay Dreams, and she brings that same theatrical style to her filmmaking. The first half of the movie is set in the 1970s--and it's a tribute to the Hindi films of that decade. Struggling actor Om Prakash (played by Shahrukh) falls in love with starlet Shanti (Deepika Padukone in her Bollywood debut)--but fate drives them apart. Fast-forward 30 years and Om has been reincarnated as a huge star with the same first name, and a wannabe actress named Sandhya helps him rectify the past. Om Shanti Om is full of cameos--the title-track dance number alone features appearances by more than 30 Bollywood stars--as well as inside jokes that only those familiar with Bollywood will get (one particular scene at the Filmfare awards ceremony--Bollywood's Oscars--is hilarious), but anyone with any level of knowledge will realize that the actors are making fun of themselves, providing plenty of laughs. - The Bollywood Ticket: The American guide to Indian movies (Subscribe: The Bollywood Ticket)』
(People REALLY like this movie? Why?) 『OMO is a very average movie. I think Farah Khan is one of the most overblown over-hyped film maker. Actually the word film-maker doesn't describe her. This is more like an MTV movie. A lot of flash without any heart. She said she was after Shahrukh a lot to make this movie and I understand why he was playing hide and seek with her. Now don't get me wrong. The first half was very funny thanks to SRK's wit. She actually said he improvised a lot during the filming and she kept it because it was so funny. Good move sherlock. However, please don't put this movie up there with there with the greats. Lets not encourage this kind of garbage. You want to see great bollywood movies, try "A wednesday, Chak de India, Baghban, Tarre Zameen Par, Fanna, Jab we met, Omkara, Sarkar".』
(Oh! Deepika Oh!) 『Oh! Deepika Oh!
Funny move. Great songs and dances. Really fine acting by everyone including the "junior artists". Shahrukh Khan is his usual self and is in great physical condition for this film. With shirt off or open, in "Darda Disco", he provides legitimate competition to Hrithik Roshan while dancing with some sizzling hot sensual sirens.
Deepika Padukone shines as both the serious sophisticated Shanti and the ditzy charming star-struck Sandy. What a dazzling big-eyed beauty she is. As good as this movie is she makes it better, along with Arjun Rampal who took the part of the villain when he didn't really want to.
This movie rocks from the deliberately cheesy opening song and dance, through 2 more strong songs and dances numbers, through a really funny and clever spoof of an award ceremony, through the dance party with 31 big name stars on stage, all the way to end where the cast and crew humorously run through the final credits leaving Fara Kahn in a funny situation. Oh, yeah, a fairly serious plot was resolved some where in there too, with its own haunting melody. Well done Farah Kahn. 』
(Hilarious) 『As long as one understands that this movie is meant to parody every aspect of Bollywood, from the actors and directors to the dramatic music and the acting itself, this is an incredibly enjoyable movie! It is hilarious, but the plot still really involves you and you connect to the characters. Much better than American parodies! On top of this, the movie arrived days before I even expected it and in perfect shape. And for the huge fans of Shah Rukh Khan like me, the poster is worth the whole deal.』
(Om Shanti Om [Blu-ray]) 『I would love to write a review ONLY if I received the product ordered over a month ago.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Gung Ho as culture training material) 『I used Gung Ho in a Culture class for Korean teachers in training. It is an excellent example of a culture clash between Americans and Japanese. Though it is somewhat dated, the essential cultural traits remain true, especially in the cultural aspects of individualism vs collectivism and low-power distance vs high-power distance (i.e., the distance in status between workers and bosses).』
(Very Funny!) 『The movie takes the situation, not improbable, of an overly efficient Japanese company taking over an American auto plant&the adjustments the workers must make to keep their jobs. The workers are pushed to the breaking point. Communication problems, many funny, impede progress. All coming to a predictable, but pleasing conclusion.』
(Fantastic movie, forever a classic!) 『This is a great movie!! Had it on vhs and wore the tape out!!! So glad to find the dvd on amazon. Thanks amazon. Anyone looking for a hillarious movie made back in the 80's should check this one out, you will not be dissapointed.』
(Michael Keaton between two cultures: the good laughs can prompt a lot of thinking) 『Michael Keaton gave one of his best performances in this film about the Japanese takeover of a closed auto plant in Pennsylvania. It is a "comedy" that has a serious side too. This 1986 film reflected the anxiety Americans then felt about economic competition from Japan. That the anxiety has now passed should not keep anyone from watching, laughing, and enjoying the film -- and thinking about its themes.
One theme is "us" vs. "them": The new Japanese managers and the American workers both think everything will be fine when the others change. This moderates (for the characters in the story, and for the film viewer) as the story unfolds. It diminished by the end of the film when the Japanese managers and the American workers have come, at least part way, to understanding one another.
It is now more than 20 years since the film was released. Japanese companies have now built and managed many American auto factories. American businesses have now embraced many "best practices" they learned from Japanese management. And Americans buy Toyotas, Nissans, and Hondas because of the Japanese commitment to quality and zero defects that sparked conflict on the assembly line in the film.
"Gung Ho" has a number of verbal and sight gags -- like the town of Hadleyville turning out (Chinese) dragon dancers to greet the new Japanese management team at the airport. Another is Japanese managers saying one thing, with Michael Keaton hearing something different. Murray Chapman's screenplay was quite skillfully written.
To my mind, though, the most interesting dimension of the plot and Michael Keaton's performance was to highlight the difficult situation of the person who moves (or negotiates or mediates) between cultures, especially at the beginning when the two cultures/companies/parties don't know much about one another. In the plot, Keaton tried to finesse the differences with the force of his own personality. It worked for awhile, but it wasn't sustainable in the end. The film could be profitably viewed in training sessions that deal with intercultural negotiation, change, binational meetings, and joint ventures.

(Simply a classic!) 『Today I work with many Asians. Particularly I have many Japanese customers. As a teen seeing this movie for the first time I couldn't appreciate how prophetic it was.
I decided to pick it up and watch it again, not having seen it for over 20 years. It holds up so, so well.
Don't get caught up in all the anti-USA propaganda of the past decade. Watch this movie. It will help you recognize that the USA is still a young nation, filled with the promise and naive "can-do" attitude that only comes from those that are young. Not every other country hates us...and yes, for most we Americans "make them laugh", and that is a very good thing. 』 『A Japanese auto company is persuaded to take over an abandoned factory--and abandoned U.S. workforce--in a small rust-belt town in Middle America. Alas, this wonderful idea for a culture-clash comedy goes pretty much to waste inGung Ho. Michael Keaton gives his most relentlessly obnoxious performance as the fast-talking shop foreman who never stops BS'ing his Japanese employers, his work buddies (George Wendt and John Turturro among them), his girlfriend (Mimi Rogers), and himself. There's a trumped-up crisis in every reel, and a great deal of double talk about whether the Japanese are workaholic freaks or the new, true inheritors of the old American get-up-and-go. Director Ron Howard and screenwriters Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel had made the enchanting comedy-fantasy-romanceSplashonly a couple of years before; they probably thought they were concocting a Frank Capra-style fable here, but, far from having a beautiful mind, this movie is strictly sitcom mentality from top to bottom.--Richard T. This evaluation is borne out on both the good and bad reviews of this movie so it is worth stating up front. Those looking for a porn flick should look elsewhere.
The movie opens with the slaughter of an ox, called a carabao while onlooking children cry and beg Simon to let the ox live. Simon responds that all of them will be fed by the ox, and that they can protest as much as they want but they will discover soon enough how cruel life can be. This scene sets the feel for the movie: gritty, brutal, rough, and at the same time human.
The movie follows three psychologically damaged women through stories regarding their approaches towards sexuality and sexual trauma in their past. Tanya (played by Maria Isabel Lopez) suffers from extreme sexual repression and fear, while the other two find various sexual outlets. The story involves a great deal of religious repression misogyny, etc. It is not a movie for the faint of heart.
The cinematography is great and the acting ranges from extremely good to not very good. The story is thought-provoking. Highly recommended.』
(the movie sucks!!!) 『the movie itself is very lame, the story sucks!!! unnecessary violence, its not good at all. the gals are pretty that's about it.』
(Silip: Daughters of Eve) 『Intriguing film from the Philippines. Lots of female nudity and simulated sex scenes. However, I was a little disappointed with the ending.』
(essential PI bold) 『In the Philippines, "bold" films are films that show a lot of skin. SILIP is one of the boldest of the bold. SILIP has nudity and violence galore. The opening scene, the real slaughter of a carabao with an ax, hints at what's coming. The dvd has both the original Tagalog version with English subtitles and an English dubbed version. The original with the mesmerizing soundtrack is superior.
SILIP ("peeping" in Tagalog) is a difficult film to categorize. At first glance, it looks like exploitative drive-in fare. Then the film gets under your skin. Is it saying something about the church? Is it sexist? Look at the barren landscape and all the blue. Is the blue supposed to simulate night or some twisted Garden of Eden? What's with the carabao, dunes, and writhing nudity? I'm struggling with two possible interpretations. Either SILIP is a polemic about the unnatural strictures placed upon women by men and the church, or a satire of rural life in the Philippines.
Other reviews have focused on the film's sex and violence. Both the violence and sex are jaw dropping, but the film's acerbic humor signals there's more in the film than just sex and violence. Check out the caricatured American tourist that tries to have sex with everything that moves. Then there's the scenes where everyone in town crowds around to watch the foreigner eat, and all the women in the family pile into one bed to sleep.
Mondo Macabro is to be commended. I've been limping along with a VHS version, dubbed into English with Chinese subtitles. The dvd has some minor flaws, but is a vast improvement of the previous versions in circulation. The extras include an interview with Maria Isobel Lopez. She's articulate and still a stunner. My main beef is the subtitles, obviously done by a foreigner. It would have been better to use a native speaker to avoid the preaching and occasional jarring interjection of "bloody" into the translation.
If you like something different, and can deal with outrageous commentary on life, death, sex, religion, and everything, SILIP is worth a look. 』
(Holy Fragarolly!!!!!) 『I don't know what to say. i got this movie based on the cover and some of the early reviews that it was going to be a a lot of pretty island chicks naked and running around and stuff. How could I have been so wrong? Beheadings, gang-rapes, waaayy too much adolescent nudity(!), animal cruelty, and just for the hell of it, naked grown men fighting with kids. And you know what? I still don't know what the movie is about. I'm not even sure that it's legal to have a copy of this thing! If you want to see a raw, crude, mouth dropping movie, get this film. I've seen cannibal films and stuff like that but this was shocking. I can't even decide if its a good shocking or a bad shocking. Wow....』 『Studio: Wea-des Moines Video Release Date: 09/23/2008』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Yummy Daifuku!!) 『I bought these along with another flavor of the same type and it's very good. I'm also not a big fan of anko (sweet bean paste) but the melon jelly inside is very nice!! I will definatly order these again and try the orange flavor as well.』
(Best Japanese rice candy ever!!!) 『I had browsed this product several times before I finally decided to give it a try, and I'm glad that I did! This is one of the best treats I have ever tasted! It has the perfect balance of delicious melon flavor that is not drowned out by an overdose of sugar like most American candies and has a wonderful texture that isn't too sticky. I had tried Japanese bean cakes with red bean paste before and found them to be OK, but after tasting these treasures, I won't be eating those again! Veryasia was great to deal with as well--communication from the company and the shipping of the product was very prompt. I would highly recommend this company and this product. This delightful candy is one of those rare, not-to-be-missed treats for the tastebuds that everyone should try!』
(Suprised!) 『I was unsure about about how this would taste, but I wanted to taste some japanese treats. I was really suprised at how much I would like these. They are really good and the melon flavor is fantastic. I also love the paste in the center. These make a great snack.』
(absolutely fantastic!) 『I love japanese treats snacks and most things but its problematic because i absolutely dislike bean paste. I had been trying to find a mochi type of snack with out a red bean paste filling for some time and wandered across this gem. I ordered 1 pack to see how it was and the mochi is as soft and gummy as the day it was made and the filling is just delicious. I will probably proceed to stockpile these and eat them all! please enjoy and try them out.』
(Yummy Treat!) 『I love this candy! It has a pleasant, mildly sweet (rice flour) taste and the texture is similar to a powdered, soft gummy bear. The melon flavor is mild and sweet (not sour). This candy may be an acquired taste for someone who is accostumed to mainstream, super-sweet American candy. The texture may take some getting used to and the taste of rice flour may not appeal to some. All that said, I've been trying to find this candy for several years but because I didn't know the name of it, I've been making-do with my memories. Now that I've found a merchant, I plan on buying a stockpile.』 『Ing: Maltose,Sugar,Glutinous rice powder, malt oligo sugar, broad bean, emulsifier.』

I ordered this on a Sunday and it was in my possession on Tuesday. I've never had anything ship quite this fast!
The only thing is that you get such a small amount for a medium price. You only need to use a small amount at a time though. I think i used two-three tsp at a time.
I love the stuff, but want to see if they have it at an Asian market around the burgh for a cheaper price before ordering again. But if not, or if it becomes incontinent i will definitely order from this company without blinking an eyelash.』 『Ing: Japanese Green Tea』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Works as advertized) 『Bought this and two 1T hard drives. My setup is a PC workstation, MacBook, Sonos music system and HP deskjet USB printer. It takes some intermediate PC skills to setup. I installed the latest firmware and software from the Promise website. The system is working as advertised. It's basically acts as a server with 1T storage (in addition to the USB port).
Setup: I set it up as a RAID 1 device (can be RAID 0). So I have only 1T of storage but both drives contain the same information - which is safe for any drive failure. I plan to investigate switching out another 1T drive monthly so I can have a backup stored in a fire/water proof safe. The USB printer is working for both the PC and Mac.
Music files: I store all of my music files on it which I use iTunes on my PC to manage. After installing the iTunes addon and adding the Promise server to my Mac server list my Mac iTunes shows the server as a shared device - which allows it to play any song on the drive. The Sonos configuration was easy and is working perfect (update the music idex after installing new music files.)
Other files: I will put our photos and video files on the drive. And other house hold files that are important (Quicken, letters,...).
Overall it has been working good for my setup.』
(Junk if you're on a Mac) 『What a major waste of time. No drivers on their site, no tech support who know a damn thing about Macs, NO true USB connectivity. This thing is cheap piece of junk. I spent the better part of a day on the phone with these guys and nobody knows nothin' about using this product with a Mac, even though they ADVERTISE this on the box. I'm thinking of filing a lawsuit against these guys.』
(Impressed) 『I did some research and my friends recommended the D-Link 323 but while at Fry's a customer rep recommended the NS2300N. I went along and decided to try it. Setup took literally 5 minutes and i had the RAID 1 set up with a network drive on the network. I uploaded 20G of data and it wasn't super fast but i think the reason is my laptop not the device. The best thing i liked about this device is how quit it is. Almost full silence. I'm still a bit disappointed though about the USB Print Server, a feature that did not detect my printer. I'll be calling their customer support and figure out a way to make it work. Otherwise, i'm going to have to return it as i know the D-Link has that feature and it works great. i got this device at Fry's for $199 + 2 500GB hard disks for $89 each.

(The Boy of the Three Year Nap) 『The Boy of the Three Year Nap is a book with tips for reality, mischeviousness, and humor. I believe this book is a humorous book but it doesn't have very good life lessons. When I read this story I vaguely got the impression that life always goes your way. But I know it does not. The boy who was lazy ended up marrying a nice, rich girl because of a lie he started. He never worked hard or anything. I think young children might get the wrong idea about life and honesty. (I should have bought the bamboo board.) 『This board looks great but is not well made or durable. 『Silk blend Sleeping Bag Liners for sensuous warmth and comfort.
Camp out in luxury! A silk sleeping bag liner is far better than nylon, plastic or cotton against your skin. Silk is a natural insulator that breathes. A bag liner will add an extra layer of soft and breathable warmth and insulation while you're sleeping. Our silk sleeping bag liners are easily cleaned because it's machine washable - great for when you're on the move. It's always a good idea to take your own to sleep in wherever you go. This silk bag is excellent to keep in a purse, briefcase, car , office , or in a jacket pocket. they can be life savers in an emergency, or add the comfort of home while traveling, camping, hiking, hunting, etc. These bags are great for military also. Add degrees to your sleeping bags for those cold nights around the world away from home, they also add comfort and cleanliness to your sleeping arrangements.
do you travel frequently? How clean are those sheets in your hotel room? and what about the bus, plane or boat trip. These liners will add some comfort to your long trip!Technical:
The liners are lightweight at about, 9 ounces (260 grams), and fold up tight in their own 9 X 6 X 1 inch little stuff bag. They open large to 74 X 27 inches.
Light enough for everyone to carry while traveling or hiking. We do not recommend a lighter silk as they lose strength and will not last. Likewise for mummy liners - there is no real benefit in using a mummy liner to save less than one ounce. A rectangular silk sleeping bag liner is far more versatile and is completely unnoticeable in a mummy bag as the silk is so slick that it moves well with you regardless the size of your sleeping bag.We have thousands of nights experience in this and have sold our liner for many years, all over the world. Ours are generous in size but still lightweight and designed to work well in any sleeping bag. It is stitched to last for many years when cared for properly.』 タイトル『 MIA TIARA >

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (a little different) 『the first time i watched this movie it felt like forever. now watching it more and more it becomes better everytime i watch this movie. diane keaton looks so pretty in this movie and you can't help but kept your eyes in her. i didn't see the verdict coming out like it did and the ending wasn't that good but i couldn't imagen it being any different.』
(It's Not Easy Being a Single Mom) 『Diane Keaton and Liam Neeson are fine in this powerful, but disturbing tale of a single mom who has to fight to keep her child. I believe it is based on the novel.』
(Between a rock and a hard place) 『Based on Sue Miller's novel, this is about a somewhat frigid woman (Diane Keaton) who is raising her 8-year-old daughter using modern, open ideas. She then meets a man (Liam Neeson) who causes her own sexuality to blossom. But an "incident" occurs between Neeson and the daughter that filters back to the ex-husband who then fights Keaton for custody of the girl. Neeson is made out to be a sleazebucket at the trial, and Keaton sacrifices him in the attempt to win her daughter back. Of course Keaton's all-out battle to win her daughter back is admirable, and I suppose it is meant for us to think of her as a victim of a male-run society that is penalyzing her for her sudden sexual blossoming and openness in child rearing. I couldn't help, though, shedding a tear or two for Neeson, who is the sacrificial lamb here. Keaton's performance is typical, which for me is not saying very much: I don't care for her as an actress and find her overacting most of the time.』
(So Powerful, So Wonderful) 『I was warned before watching this movie that it would not be one of those 'sit in front of the television with a bowl of popcorn' movies. For half of the movie, I just sat there, my eyes glued to the screen, watching Diane Keaton in a simply wonderful and dramatic role.
Anna Dunlap (Keaton) is a newly divorced woman with an adorable six year old daughter. They have a wonderful relationship, and it is very evident when you sit down and watch them together. Enter Liam Neeson. He starts out as a person with whom you would not want to get to know, but after a few minutes, he reveals that he's just in a bad mood and he is actually quite nice. When he first meets Molly (the very adorable Asia Vieira), she is very shy towards him, but she learns to like him and you can see that there is a bond between them. When something happens (I don't want to say what), and Molly's father wants full-time custody of her, the movie becomes a full-blown drama. It is, I admit, hard to watch some of the courtroom scenes, but they are so powerful and they draw you into the story. In a way, I saw the end result coming, but not exactly like it did. It definitely showed finality in the family.
Keaton's performace, like I said above, was incredibly powerful and she does a wonderful job portraying Molly's mother. The main reason I bought this movie was because of Diane Keaton, since she is my favorite actress and this movie shows her in her best dramatic role, in my opinion. If only it had received higher reviews when it came out. But I go by what looks good to me, and to me, this looked good, mainly because of the cast and the story.』
(Simply a must-see) 『Being a tremendous fan of Diane Keaton's work, I rented this movie (I'm still... that this movie isn't sold anywhere), and it immediately rated as one of my top-ten favorite Keaton videos. It honestly is an enigma that this movie didn't get enough praise it deserves. Most of the scenes are incredibly sweet, warm, and intimate. That's what makes this movie so great. When Keaton's character, Anna, meets Liam Neeson's character, Leo, there's a unmistakable bond forming. I especially love the scene when Anna goes to Leo's apartment and Leo and Anna becomes one, dancing in front of Leo's sculpture, making shadows on the wall from the light shining on them from behind. This is an esoteric concept of first love. I really thought it was so sweet when Anna confessed to Leo that she thought she wasn't very good at sex, and he gently assures her that they can fix that. There's no judgment in that scene;it's obvious that Leo really loves Anna, and their love is vivid. Another favorite scene is when Anna and her daughter, Molly, are in the bathtub with Leo reading to them. This is truly intimate, and I just love the fact that they were so open-minded about being naked in front of Molly. There's just so much tenderness and love. It was, to me, beautiful. And yet another favorite scene is when Molly has a bad dream and goes into Anna's room while she and Leo are making love, and they comfort her until she falls asleep. There's another display of intimacy, about caring and love. The three of them together was absolutely wonderful. That is why I found it incredibly appalling that Anna's ex-husband, Brian, goes to court for something that happened between Molly and Leo that had absoluely no intention of happening. (I won't ruin the ending for you). But I found the ending truly sad and final. A soon-to-be family are wrenched apart by an innocent mistake. I felt bad, because I knew they could have had a wonderful life together. I also felt bad for Anna and Leo. I could really see their love shown for each other. They were so comfortable together; their feelings for each other were vivid and beautiful. This is a movie of non-judgment and unconditional love, and that's what makes it so special. I honestly don't understand why this movie was considered a failure. Keaton is at her best in this movie, and Neeson is simply wonderful. I consider myself as an efficient movie critic, and I know which movies are bad or good. This movie is a MUST-SEE!!! I acclaim Keaton especially for her wonderful work in this movie. 'The Good Mother' is proof that Keaton is one of the world's most rare and special actresses. If you're not suffering from brain deterioration, immediately rent this movie! You won't regret it.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Fun and educational) 『My two-year-old chose this from a shelf because it had a panda on it. I fully expected that she would be bored with a nature documentary, or disappointed that it wasn't really about pandas, but boy, was I surprised!
First, this isn't a documentary. It's a fast-paced, lively entertainment program that splices together lots of really good National Geographic footage with tongue-in-cheek narration and some pretty good music. It holds my daughter's interest even after repeated viewings, but it doesn't annoy the grownups. We actually enjoy watching it with her now and then.
Second, it manages to incorporate a meaningful amount of information without becoming a dry tutorial. Because of the quick pace, it doesn't get too deep into anything, but it covers the most important facts.
Third, and perhaps most important, they've managed to produce a show that doesn't include any inappropriate material. I fully expected my daughter (who is pretty sensitive to scary stuff) to be frightened by at least some aspects of the tape, but even the scenes with predators and sudden attacks are handled gently and without undue emphasis. The overall impression of the show is mild and pleasant.
And finally, although pandas are certainly not the focus of the show (maybe 10% of the entire time is spent on pandas), my daughter happily watches the whole thing, and refers to it as"the panda video."
So overall, I have to say I'm very pleasantly surprised. This turns out to be age-appropriate for even quite young toddlers. I have to add that I'm not sure all 2-year-olds would be as taken with it as my daughter was, but she has definitely enjoyed this and at least one other in this series (Deep Sea Dive). It provides a nice change of pace from The Wiggles and Winnie the Pooh.』
『The Asian continent abounds in exotic animals from the large--giant pandas, elephants, and tigers--to the lower-profile-- macaques, sea snakes, and mudskippers. Balancing the real with the fantastical (dragons and unicorns), this 38-minute tape fromNational Geographicexplores the rich tapestry of Asian wildlife. Narrator Spin--the animated planet Earth voiced by Dudley Moore--hops aboard a magic carpet and visits a variety of locations such as the South China Sea island of Tiga, where snakes gather to mate; Japan, where macaques (snow monkeys) lounge in hot springs during snowfall; and Borneo to fly through the trees with orangutans. While the author does not call for any really exotic Asian ingredients, I fear that readers living outside of cosmopolitan areas will find some of them difficult to locate. The techniques are within the grasp of any aspiring cook who is willing to spend a little time in practice.
Readers might keep in mind that dumpling recipes, as practiced in Asia, are not nearly so precise and specific as the author seems to suggest. Asian cooks, even in fine restaurants, do not hesitate to use what they have on hand and/or to try out new combinations of ingredients. The flavor palette remains largely the same but the components can vary quite a bit. That is by way of saying that readers should not hesitate to experiment for fear their products be deemed inauthentic.
This is an excellent cookbook. Enjoy!』
(Great steamed bun recipes) 『I'd come across Andrea from another website (101 cookbooks) regarding Vietnamese cooking when I found out she had just published a book on dumpling. Growing up in Hong Kong, I've always loved the dumplings from dim sum and curbside food stands. I've always wanted to make my favorite dim sum items at home (e.g., siu mai, har gaw, char siu bao). Andrea's recipes are well-written and accessible, even providing tips on which brands of asian ingredients to buy. I've tried other recipes online for the shrimp dumplings (har gaws), but Andrea's recipe has come out the best. I'm still trying to perfect that dumpling skin (i.e., get it a thinner) but the first try came out great nevertheless. I have easy access to commercial wonton skins in Philly so I just used those for my siu mai. The best recipe so far has been the steamed buns. I've used two types of fillings so far - 1) pork and picked cabbage; 2) homemade char siu (from Gourmet cookbook). While the buns aren't as bleached white as the ones at the restaurants, I found the texture to be just as soft. They also freeze very well. I just pop the frozen ones into the microwave for a minute still in plastic wrap, and they taste like they were freshly steamed. I haven't worked my way through the rest of the cookbook yet, but the taro dumplings, another dim sum favorite, will be next on my list.』
(A fantastic overview of delicious dumplings!) 『This is a wonderful book for anyone who wants to know all there is to know about Asian dumplings! Andrea Nguyen has clearly spent many hundreds of hours on research, testing, and eating her delicious recipes. There is an excellent introduction with ingredient lists and descriptions, as well as appetizing photos throughout the book. The recipes are organized by type of casing - eg. yeast dough, rice, wheat and tapioca starch, etc. The dumplings are achievable both in skill level and in ingredients. Even in Switzerland, a browse through a couple Asian stores yielded almost all the ingredients I needed to get started. I especially liked the chapter on sweet dumplings at the end of the book! Definitely recommended to anyone looking to cook their way though a complete Asian dumpling repertoire.』
(she is great) 『really happy with this book she is very knowledgeable and puts you on the right path even with brand names for asian sauces』
(Asian Dumplings) 『Dumplings are one of my favorite foods and Ms. Ngyuen doesn't disappoint in providing a wealth of recipes in many categories. The illustrations are accurate and helpful for a novice and professional alike. One thing however, although minor, is the recommedation to use commercial wrappers for the soup dumplings. I've tried this several times and the commerically made wrappers do not work-they just aren't pliable enough (I only point this out because it was the recipe that drew my attention-they are a favorite of mine). Nevertheless, I would still recommend this book because it is a complete compendium on all styles of Asian dumplings.
』 『Pot stickers, gyoza, spring rolls, samosas--whether wrapped or rolled, steamed or fried, Asian dumplings are surprisingly easy to prepare, as Andrea Nguyen demonstrates in ASIAN DUMPLINGS. Her crystal-clear recipes for more than 75 of Asia's most popular savory and sweet parcels, pockets, packages, and pastries range from Spicy Potato Samosas to Shanghai Wonton Soup. Organized according to type (wheat pastas, skins, buns, and pastries; translucent wheat and tapioca preparations; legumes and tubers; sweet dumplings), ASIAN DUMPLINGS also contains everything anyone needs to know about equipment and ingredients; techniques for shaping, filling, and cooking; plating and serving; and ordering in restaurants.』

While there is a good deal of legitimate information in the book, it is, at times, difficult to differentiate from the half-truths present throughout.
An example: one page 282, the author alleges writes, "The Taliban traveled to Iraq via Iran and Turkmenistan, often in the company of drug smugglers. Arab trainers, explosives experts, and financiers from Iraq traveled in the opposite direction. In Iraq the Taliban learned the latest military techniques in preparing mines, improvised explosive devices, and And ambushes."

It's incredible that he takes few events that supposedly transpired as proof of collusion between Iraqi insurgents and the Taliban. It's difficult to conceive of Taliban fighters and Iraqi fighters working together; their goals are not similar enough for joint ventures to be profitable. To be sure, it's almost certain that there is contact between high-ranking Taliban officials and Iraqi insurgent leaders, if only through al Qaeda.
The constant shading of truth and display of near-conspiratorial theories as fact makes this book difficult to take as legitimate criticism--the fact that no real suggestions are offered ignored. If you're really interested in the descent into chaos in south and central Asia, this book is very useful, but people looking for unbiased, simple truth should seek other reading.』
(Another Bush/America hater) 『While there is worthwhile information in this book,it is apparent the authors disdain for the west which has provided him with employment. It portrays Operation Enduring Freedom as a bungling affair at best.Another Monday morning quarterback with No solutions.』
(An outstanding "must-read" book for Afghanistan understanding) 『This is one of the most outstanding books I have read in modern history. It is not an easy book to read. I read through the whole book twice with a notebook in hand to be on top of all the principal players, dates and changing relationships. It is a scary book (from an American point of view) as it depicts America and the West as well-intentioned but incredibly ignorant and naive. After reading this book and digesting its implications, I have a much better understanding of what Afghanistan and its neighborhood are all about. The key is to understand (as usual) the geography, the ethnicity, and the indigenous ways of life before we start projecting our own narratives. Approached this way, the author and this book form an unsurpassed source of information and wisdom for an English-language reader like me. Unlike many other excellent books (Steve Coll's Ghost Wars, for example), Ahmed Rashid has unparalleled access to local sources because he is from the region and speaks the local languages fluently. There is simply no substitute for local knowledge and access when it comes to places like Afghanistan and Pakistan. When one combines local advantages with longevity in the field (as in Ahmed Rashid), the product is unparalleled. I recommend this book to anyone serious about understanding Afghanistan's ongoing saga.』
(Descent Into Chaos Book review) 『I find looking into the book helpful, looking at contents and what the book will cover. However, a review of the book or synopsis of what it is about and how well written would help me to understand whether it is well written and that the author is an authority of the subject. The qualifications of the writer is important to me to feel he is worth reading and is well versed on the topic.
Ahmed Rashid has given me insight into the problems of Pakistan, Afganistan and Central Asia, and how our involvement have created problems. Our lack of understanding on the issues, followed by poor policies has created anti American feelings, and perpetuated turbulence. Perhaps we need to understand other cultures, to appreciate them and not mold or predicate on them.』
(decent iinto chaos) 『read this and see how f up the situation is. Also it will make you mad how the ush administration made the situation worst. I am stil not finsihed with it becasue i keep reading and gettin more pissed off』 『After September 11th , Ahmed Rashid's crucial bookTalibanintroduced American readers to that now notorious regime. In this new work, he returns to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Central Asia to review the catastrophic aftermath of America's failed war on terror. Called "Pakistan's best and bravest reporter" by Christopher Hitchens, Rashid has shown himself to be a voice of reason amid the chaos of present-day Central Asia.Descent Into Chaosis his blistering critique of American policy-a dire warning and an impassioned call to correct these disasterous strategies before these failing states threaten global stability and bring devastation to our world.』

(Still cooking) 『I found this book from our local library. After reading and reviewing the recipes, I went to Asian Market and bought all the ingredients for most the recipes that I didn't have on hand. Then, I couldn't wait to start cooking. I started with Pad Thai WHY? because the cover looked so delicius. I cooked 20 recipes so far and still cooking more. After returning the book to the library, I am ordering it from Amazon.com. This book is saving my money from going to Asian restaurant and I can have a nice dinner at home.』
(Fast, easy, and the real deal) 『As I write this review I'm still eating the 6th recipe we've cooked out of this book. (Dinner all week has pretty much been recipes from this book, from the Filipino Adobo Chicken to the Fish with Kabayaki Sauce; tonight it's Thai-style chicken with Sweet Chilli Sauce.) In my mind, Jaden is on her way to becoming a national treasure, because the first taste of any of these recipes will make you open your eyes wide, remembering a taste you had of something while in Asia, or in the last truly good Asian restaurant in which you dined.
I can only echo what Martin Yan said in the editorial reviews. Go read that if you haven't already--I'll wait.
So run, don't walk, to your nearest computer mouse...well, actually, you're already holding one, probably...and buy this book. I know it presents on first glance as something of a coffee-table book, but it isn't. It's for real. Jaden Hair is for real. And the dishes you make from the recipes?
I'd tell you even more, but my mother warned me about typing with my mouth full. Buy it and enjoy!』
