『I had the screen crack on my Eee and felt I needed some reinforcement to prevent it from happening again. Honestly I'm not sure if the Eee is susceptible to cracked screens, but I'm not taking the chance and bought this protector. The fit is first rate. It tightly hugs the Eee and doesn't look bad. The only gripe is what another user mentioned: With the protector on, the Eee wants to rock backward. It's annoying, but better than a broken Eee.』

(Clear mcover for Asus Eee PC 1005 PE)

『With certain hesitance I purchased one purple for my daughter's 1005HA and one clear for my wife's 1005PE as only two reviews on mcover for 1005HA/PE were not very positive with complaint focusing on its bottom covers. Well I cannot comment on what kind of product others received but I am surely happy with my purchase. I also kind of wonder if others followed installation instruction correctly since there is a specific installation instruction attached to bottom cover. When I installed these two bottom covers I read the instruction carefully and followed that exactly. Well the instruction was simple enough with common sense saying basically to snap back side first then front side without using strong force. As an engineer it has always been my habit to read instruction first anyway. So anyway for me these bottom covers fit both versions perfectly without any issues. There was no issue with the top cover either: once it snaps in, it fits with the computer tightly. Another point I would like to comment is that both my daughter and wife love the retractable feet at the bottom cover which provides better typing position. Definitely I would give 5 thumb for the mcover.』

(Just what I wanted (not quite))

『I just received my mCover for an Asus Eee PC 10.2-inch 1005HA netbook. I was blown away with how well the hard plastic shell fit my computer. I took the thing out of the box and quickly snapped it onto my Asus Eee and it fit perfectly. I mean--perfectly. The cover is exactly what it was purported to be and was purported to do.

I bought the clear version of the mCover (it comes in 9 transparent colors) because I wanted the blue color on my netbook to show through. The shell is actually in two parts--one cover for the top and one for the bottom of the netbook. There are four little unobtrusive tabs on each section of the shell that hold the covers firmly. There are cooling vents on the bottom half of the shell and the back side is open for removal of the battery. There are two little retractable feet on the bottom cover that give the keyboard a slight tilt for more comfortable typing. These need to be engaged in order to prevent the computer from tipping backward slightly while in use.

The cover protects all of the outer surfaces and corners of the netbook and when attached, the computer still fits into the Neoprene travel sleeve that comes with the Asus Eee PC. The cover is priced right and it is exactly what the smaller netbooks need to protect them during travel. The mCover is well designed and well made. It is a winner.

UPDATE:

No it is not a winner. I am sorry to report the bottom half of the plastic mCover is no longer usable as one of the mounting tabs snapped off makeing that part of the shell impossible to attach. I still use the upper half of the shell as a protection for the lid on my netbook, but the bottom half is a candidate for the trash. I am indeed sorry about the positive review I posted only weeks earlier.

『I actually did buy this through NewEgg but wanted to comment on here as well.
As far as the picture goes, you won't be disappointed. It is clear and bright.... maybe a little too bright.
I find using the Theater Mode, even for gaming, to be best.
Now the cons.... the ring stand is a bit odd and surely takes more time to assemble than a the standard snap-on stand.
And though the touch controls seem like a good idea, they are finicky and rather annoying. The Power On/Off function works perfect.
I just wish the rest of the controls worked like that. I find myself pushing and pushing trying to get the menu and settings when I would have been done with normal buttons or knobs. Someday the technology will catch up with the idea.
But I got this for the picture and I don't have any complaints about that. It looks larger than it presents itself to be. And a 2ms response time... just makes it even sweeter. For this I give it 5 stars... at least a solid 4.5 only because of the cons, which are minor.』

『This product is pretty cheap but seems to be working ok. The fit wasn't totally right for my iphone but I managed to squeeze it on. And I dropped it once and the case fell apart but didn't break so I was able to put it back on but it seemed to defeat the purpose of protecting the phone in case you accidentally drop it. All in all, you really do get what you pay for. Not sure if I would ever buy this product again.』

『I received this net book a few weeks ago and absolutely love it! I am required to have some sort of laptop for school and after A LOT of research (and toting around a very heavy outdated laptop) I settled on this Asus net book for a few reasons. First of which is the battery life. Compared to other net books in the same price range this one has way more battery life. After using it for awhile I can safely say that I have yet to run the battery dead (and I'm in class and work for 9 hours or more).

Second is the size and weight. While 10 inches is small to alot of people, the screen is actually a great size, not too small (as I thought the 8 inch ones were) and not so big. This computer is small enough to drop into a backpack or large purse without any trouble and is light enough to carry around all day (it's lighter than a lot of leisure books).

Another thing I love is the keyboard. It's comfortable to type and the keys are normal size. The touch pad is great, you can turn it off if you have a mouse to use with it and the zoom feature it has makes reading some of those teeny tiny print web pages that much easier to use.

My only concern is the pin on the charger, it is quite small and could break easily if the cord gets tugged. I've been charging at night to avoid any kind of breakage in the pin.

I also bought 2 GB memory and put it in immediately. It makes the net book even faster.

I would recommend this to anyone who is in the market for a fast, easy-to-use net book. Great job Asus!』

『I was planning to take an international trip in September of 2009 and didn't want to lug my "full sized" 14" HP laptop on the airplane for a 9 hour flight. I also was concerned about running out of battery life on such a long trip. So, after much research I ordered this netbook with the 9 cell battery. I also ordered an extra 2gb of memory to avoid potential problems with software I intended to install. As, soon as I received the package I opened the box and installed the memory. I then charged the unit and began using it. After about 3 days I tested the battery life by taking an overnight trip without the charger. I was able to use the netbook for normal activities (not constant use) and return the next day with time left on the battery. I've found that there's really no need to turn this unit off. I simply close the lid and the power comsumptions goes down to a trickle. That way I avoid going through the startup process. I installed several applications I normally use on my full sized notebook including Firefox, Nikon NX2, Microsoft Project 2007, Nikon Picture Project, Mindmanager, Avast antivirus, iTunes, Zune and a couple of others. None of these had any problems working on the netbook. It's important to remember that this machine is not designed to multitask so it's one function at a time or you going to see lags in the operations. You can open multiple apps, but you can only use one at at time. When I download updates with iTunes I turn simultaneous downloads off. The wireless 802.11n is very fast downloading faster than my full sized laptops which have 802.11g. My one complaint it that the outside of the unit is dark blue and collects finger prints immediately after cleaning. I keep a microfiber cloth in the bag just to wipe it down. I only recharge the unit at night and even then, not if I haven't used it more than 3 or 4 hours. All in all a great choice.』

『I love the size and battery life of this netbook! I did not realize that you don't really get a full screen type view so you have to do a fair amount of paging up and down. The built in mouse bar is a little stiff so your hands get tired after long use. Still working on figuring out how to connect with my existing laptop to share files and load software that you cannot download. (not straight forward?)

The portability is great and beats carrying around a 5-6lb laptop!』

『I bought an Asus Eee 701 about a year after it came out, and grew to love it like a faithful pet. It was far more flexible than a smartphone and much smaller than a laptop, and it was also a babe-magnet. But I eventually got fed up with the small screen and the limited battery life. I had to carry a high-capacity spare and constantly keep an eye on the remaining power. Asus came out with a confusing array of replacement models, and the 1005HA appears to be the best modern combination of value and performance (there's a 1008HA, which is thinner but has a non-removable battery, and there's also a pair of larger 1201 models which seem to overlap uncomfortably with conventional laptops).

I've had mine for about a week now. Compared to the 701 it has a conventional magnetic hard drive, split into two 80gb partitions; a larger, higher-resolution screen; and much longer battery life. It takes the same memory modules, and indeed I swapped the 2gb chip in my 701 for the 1gb chip in my 1005HA with no problems. Physically, the hinge feels slightly less robust, and the body is proportionately heavier than the 701 (the battery, in contrast, is surprisingly lightweight). It's still hand-holdable but not as comfortable.

Good stuff: the screen is 1024x600, not quite a conventional resolution but enough for most purposes. The battery life is very impressive, far inside my comfort threshold. If you commute on the train for an hour and a half each way, and use it to surf the internet whilst doing so, and you use it at lunchtime and a bit in the afternoon, it should last a couple of days before you have to charge it. The 701 would have conked out during lunch. In practice you would have kept turning it off and on in short bursts and worrying about the battery. You can just leave the 1005HA on, and worry about other things. Although the batteries are large, they aren't very heavy, and so a couple of them should last a long aeroplane journey. The 701's only advantage in this respect is that it can comfortably be used if you're standing up, whereas the 1005HA is a bit too large for that.

As with the 701 it has an SD card reader, which is useful if you have a digital SLR that takes SD cards. It's less relevant than the 701's SD card slot, given that the machine has a 160gb hard drive; with the 701, the SD card stood in for the hard drive. You don't need it any more.

The keyboard is a revelation. The 701's keyboard was an uncomfortable hunt-and-peck thing with a misplaced right shift key. The 1005HA's keyboard has a full-sized right shift key and it's in the right place. I can touch type easily on it. The cursor keys are initially odd but the arrangement works. The power adapter is slightly smaller. Everything else that was good about the 701 is good about this.

Bad stuff: I'm not enthused with the touchpad. It's flush with the case, differentiated by some studs. It doesn't feel as precise as the 701's keypad, even after a week of acclimatisation. The screen surround attracts hairs and dust like a vacuum cleaner. I miss the absolute solid state silence of the 701. It's slightly less of a babe magnet, because it's larger. You don't get the carry case that came with the 701 (boo!) or indeed any carry case. In all other respects it is win city.

The only substantive criticism I can level is philosophical. The 701 had a definite niche. It was much much smaller than a laptop and far more flexible than a smartphone. It felt fresh and new. The 1005HA, on the other hand, is not much more portable than a small laptop, and in fact it's thicker and heavier than some laptops. I'm slightly more wary of carrying it around, slightly less willing to put it in the luggage, slightly less willing to use it in public. I could carry the 701 around easily with one hand, snap it open, surf the internet etc, snap it closed, stuff it into a backpack etc, whereas the 1005HA is more cumbrous. For a machine that only makes sense as a mobile device this is a bit worrying. Still, the extra battery life alone is a killer upgrade and if you sell your 701 to fund the upgrade the price is even more impressive.

『I switched from an AOC 22" VGA monitor to this one, and to be honest I don't see a big change other than this being brighter. I'm using the DVI connection but don't see a big difference haven't seen an HD movie on it, mostly i just game on it or surf the web.

Maybe my expectations were bit high, but still I love this monitor it's pretty good, no dead pixels or anything the only thing I don't like it's the Stand that doesn't hold the monitor as firm as it should.』

『I am a professional 15 years old experienced digital artist. I am working with professional screens at work, I also have dell 24wfp at home, I order this monitor from amazon for using dual screen for my reference pictures and web browsing on the other monitor, I wasn't expecting amazing quality, but I am really surprised with the image quality, my $800 Dell monitor is only slightly better then this Asus. First time I plug it, it was too bright, I mean the images, not the screen. I was kind of disappointed. Then I discover the scenery mode and I tweak the brightness, sharpness and the saturation, like about 5-10 minutes I get almost the same image like my dell monitor. Do not bother the other setups, just select the scenery mode and put this settings up,
Brightness 51, Contras 64, Sharpness 44, Saturation 50 or 55. so it's pretty much the same as calibrated dell 24wfp screen.

There is some downs on this monitor too, Up and down angles are getting darker, Left right is better, you don't move your head up and down much so if you can get the right angle it will work great. if you like to put your monitor high up, you are going to hate the stand, it is horrible. You can not move your monitor up and down, I put a ikea furniture piece to raise it up.
it is looking good actually, I glued some artwork on it, now it looks retro, I love it, but I am lucky that I have this furniture piece, Otherwise I might going to use books to raise it so it could be looks boring because I can only use my old Stephen king books as a raiser. :)
There is also details lost on light images, it is very very slight, sharpness is great, colors are amazing, I turn down the green a little like %3 to match my pro screen. So overall I am very pleased with this monitor even after stand and brightness works.
I still draw my images on my dell screen, because it's a bit better, also it has 1920x1600, so there is 120 pixel difference vertically.
so, it is perfect for second monitor, but if it is your only monitor and you are a digital artist, buy pro monitors. For other type of user this monitor is supersonic! Actually even if you are digital artist with a tight budget or if you are a beginner artist, it might be your favorite monitor.
if my pro screen dies, I might get one more Asus, and use that $600 difference for buying 600 glow stick from dollar stores then crack them at the same time and watch them.

Other then the image quality, I never test the speakers or HDMI I don't care.
Digital camera is not working with XP 64 bit because there is no driver, so it feels like my asus monitor has a blind eye on top of her head.
Anyways this is a good buy, for $209, it's a steal. I recommend this monitor anyone except digital artist who is going to use it as a main monitor as a main monitor.』
