(Excellent program selection, but overblown performances)

This was a disapointment. After reading the list of songs included, I looked forward to hearing this CD. The instrumentalists are wonderful in interpretation and presentation, but the vocalists, though technically very good, seem overblown for these songs. Their performances border on the operatic, with just not the right amount of nuance for the repertoire. The soprano fares better than the male voices, but when there is a duet, they never seem to truly blend, but just compete with one another. I remember the great period recordings of Joan Morris and William Bolcolm, some of which are still available on CD(including a relatively new one- see Amazon for title and details), and this CD, though well-intentioned, never approaches that level of sophistication and purity of performance.

(Misleading CD title!)

(Hope you like the"Golden Cornet"and organ...)

I agree with both other reviewers re the duo coronet/organ arrangements on SOME of the bands of Disk #2 I have, but McCann plays them very well and the organ is fine if you like the organ (which I don't). BUT, the OTHER BANDS include orchestra and on ALL bands McCann really plays beautifully. However, I will not buy another disk of these because of the duo performance bands and - WHAT A SHAME as ALMOST ALL THE PIECES REALLY ARE AMONG WORLD'S MOST BEAUTIFUL and MANY are very difficult, if not impossible, to find ANY arrangement of (though at least half on each cd readily avail other perfs arrangements).
Thought I was purchasing a nice compendium of beautiful songs to listen to on long trips. You'd better love the golden cornet if you buy this CD - or, rather, 5 CDs!
This CD set has all the greatest melodies... only they are performed by some guy and his"golden cornet"(a horn). There is accompaniment by an organ. This set WOULD have been great, IF it was performed by a piano. Huge disappointment. Would have been nice to know what instrument was used to begin with.

Harp and nothing but harp, played by a world-famous harpist Susann McDonald.

Thirteen pieces are played on the concert harp, two on the Paraguayan harp ("La Guabina"and"Llanos"), and one on the Irish harp (though this is actually a 2-piece set"Believe Me If All Those Endearing You Charms"and an"Irish Gigue".

Tunes vary from 14th/15th century to contemporary, some very familiar, some not well known, mostly classical, a few traditional, with wondeful variations of volume within the pieces and contrasts of style between them.

Susann McDonald plays everything with a firm, clear, fresh touch even on the most elaborate glissandos. The music flows and bubbles in cascades of sound. Subtle, unexpected variations in timing add to the excitement.

Digitally recorded and mastered half-speed by genius sound engineer Stan Ricker, the result is unbelievably pure undistorted sound, as though Suzanne were sitting directly in front of you.

Perfect both for background music and careful listening.

This Limited Edition "snap on" decorative shoe charm collection from Urban Boundaries adds a completely new world of charms to your shoe/bracelet assortment. Not only can you take these apart and "snap" them together in tighter / smaller holes on your shoes / bracelet, you can also push them through the clog hole just as you would a standard shoe charm. This is a very versatile product. We recommend that adults help kids with the installation process to ensure they are properly snapped together so you do not lose your charms. Additionally, if you opt to snap them together vs. push them through the hole, we recommend that you start by positioning the BACK of the charm (the receiving end) first -- then, simply snap the male end of the charm into place. We have found this makes for a much smoother installation with less frustration trying to find the male part with the female receiving end of the charm. This product is recommended for children 4 years and older as the small parts may present a choking hazard.

This charm is much cuter than it looks. It was well worth the money we paid to now have access to the Charm Forest on Webkinz World.
