Its' style is a departure from the blues standards for which he is known, and is similar to that of Gingerale Afternoon, simple, reminiscent of old men sitting around playing checkers, light-hearted and sincere. A great addition to your collection - if you can find it.』
(I took my chance and I had my thrills) 『This album features Willie Dixon performing some of his less well-known songs. Willie was renowned as one of the greatest songwriters and arrangers in the history of the blues. As a singer, he received much less acclaim. This CD shows the reason for that. Willie wasn't a bad singer, but he just wasn't a very exciting singer. He sings adequately here, but his singing is nothing special. Plus, many of the songs here run much longer than they should. This album is for blues completists only.』
(Nothing to write home about) 『Willie Dixon was a great songwriter. He is quite often overrated as a performer because of the quality of his songs, and this recording, like all his solo recordings, shows exactly why he was a great songwriter - but not a great singer or performer.
Dixon's voice, never much to begin with, is strained here, but he manages a conversational delivery that almost works. I say almost because some of these songs, particularly the old ones that he reworks here, would require a much more impassioned delivery than he was capable of to make them work.
The production is clear, but the instrumentation and arrangements are acoustic, and midtempo/slow songs abound. The"new"numbers on this album sound alike and break no new ground in any sense.
There's a reason this CD is out of print. I gave it three stars out of respect for Dixon's accomplishments in the field of Chicago blues (not Delta blues, people; totally different genre) and for the musicians' contributions. But in all honesty, if you went your entire life without hearing this CD, you wouldn't be missing a whole lot. I've owned it from the time of the first issue on vinyl and I haven't played it more than a half-dozen times.
Willie Dixon's songs were best performed by other people, particularly Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Buddy Guy. This recording, sad to say, is definitive proof of that.』

I had thought the spells would be more something someone could do anyplace, anywhere. But you are told from the start to have a little portable altar (she gives instructions for this) that you keep with you. A lot of the spells require finding a private place.
In the beginning she does offer a spell requiring only a rubber band so you can 'stretch time' when you're late. This I found helpful.
If you can find this book in the library by all means look through it. But I wouldn't spend the money if I hadn't already.

(A Good Read) 『This was one of the first books I had when I started Wicca. It has some good info, and I still use the components table, it still helps me out A LOT. Honestly, it has the most corrsepondences of any of my books, that is where it really shines. There were a lot of really intresting ideas to use each, but the glossary could've been better to a beginning witch, and the info was a bit limited, especially for a beginning book. And it didn't really, get me *into* it. But, the reason why I gave it 4 stars is because of the research and personal thoughts obviously put into the correspondences, I'd say they're more of an intermidiate witch's helpful info, but that's only my opinion, and everyone goes down their own path. The very best aspect of this book was the fact that she presented a concept that is very much tied to various Earth Religions, but didn't give the book a religious slant at all. (Being a Christian Witch,) I appreciated the fact that there wasn't a pre-set religious affiliation to the information! This allows one to learn just"Magick"...leaving the religious application up to the reader!! The book is and easy read for the beginner, and a valuable refrence.』
