I already had one and had to get another. Now both the cat and dog have their own window perch!
The seller was wonderful to deal with. The picture showed a light cover, but I received a dark brown one and I don't remember there ever being a choice. The seller was helpful and told me I could return it. I decided to give it a try and that was actually a mistake.
It doesn't secure very well so if my cats jump on it it moves down.
I prefer the kind that come with a screw that can be screwed in, this one only has velcro.
I already had one perch and had to order another because all three of my cats want to sit on it at the same time. I tried other perches locally and ended up taking them back and finding the label for this one under my existing perch. They LOVE THEM.
This is a great perch! Our kitten immediately loved it and is now on it all the time. It was also very easy to install
The perch itself is nice. However, the support bars had to bent a little to fit flush against the wall (the perch was leaning!). My biggest complaint is that the product description failed to mention that the perch mounts to the windowsill via a velcro strip, which has an adhesive strip that is applied directly to the windowsill! No thanks! I found some large curtain brackets at a local hardware store and mounted them on the bottom of the perch so I could hang it from the windowsill. Also, by doing so, I can move the perch to another window!

This film is still a delightful romp through English countryside and the eighteenth century. Entertaining and enchanting.
Funny movie, even if dated (1963). I was a senior in high school and vividly remember the times. Good acting and clear video. I'm very pleased.
What a fun movie. Great cast. Costumes really add to the atmosphere. And the music is terrific. "Tom Jones" is in my top ten movies I have seen, what a rush. And a great story line. You can't help rooting for this rake. Love the scene with the oysters.
Buy this flic, you cannot go wrong.
It has charm and humor to spare, that is for sure, and it is rich with wonderful performances and witty dialog but calling it the best movie of the year seems like a stretch. I so adore it, which goes without saying, and I enjoy every minute, but it is just a good movie that provides a good time, and it never feels like more than that.

Does that make any sense?

The film follows Tom, the adopted son of a British squire. He's a lady-charmer of sorts, planting his seed wherever he may lie and loving every minute of it. When Tom falls for the beautiful Sophie, the daughter of a neighboring squire, things begin to heat up for Tom. Jealousies within the family cause Tom to eventual flee only to get himself in more and more trouble. He's a kindhearted and well intentioned young man who just doesn't know when to stop.

`Tom Jones' is a very funny movie that sports a stellar cast of comedic performances, as well as some touching and sincere ones. Albert Finney received his first of many Oscar nominations for this film, and he was definitely deserving (it was such a good year in this category). He is charming and witty, enough so to make even Tom's most reprehensible of actions forgeable. High Griffiths and Edith Evans ham it up in their roles, providing an abundance of comic relief, and Susannah York is stunning and beautifully tempered as Sophie.

There isn't a sore spot to be found within the acting at all.

The script is also delightfully written, engaging and funny throughout, sporting some very memorable moments and some intriguing character development. I loved the voice over narration, which provided the film with a literary feel that complemented its comedic tone. It is very well constructed and wonderfully put directed.

The fact remains that while I cannot find a single flaw I just cannot name it the best of the year. I think when you consider the films that were provided to us in 1963 `Tom Jones' kind of falls towards the middle of the list. Films like `Hud' or `This Sporting Life' were much stronger works and much more poignant and influential. `8½' is another example of a film that is much smarter and much more technically proficient than `Tom Jones'. This film is splendid and entertaining but its well does not run as deep as some of the years other offerings. Top ten maybe (I'd give it an A-), but not top five and definitely not numberone.

Oh well, it is till a wonderful film and one that I will continue to watch and enjoy for years to come.
A very good print of the original movie. A classic effort for foreign film during the 60's. Outshines many current efforts at period comedy.
Winner of four Academy Awards including best picture, director, screenplay, and music, this 1963 adaptation of Henry Fielding's classic novel is a rousing, bawdy comedy about a young man's ribald adventures in 18th-century England. Albert Finney is splendidly hilarious in the title role of a charming womanizer who was discovered as an abandoned infant in the bed of Squire Allworthy, a wealthy landowner who named the child Tom Jones and raised him as his own. As a young man, Tom yearns for the comely daughter (Susannah York) of a neighboring squire, but his amorous adventures (including an extended food orgy that becomes the film's funniest scene) lead him to London and to a duel with a jealous husband. He's sentenced to hang, but fate intervenes. A hit around the world, the film was expertly written by noted playwright John Osborne, and director Tony Richardson uses a variety of old-style movie techniques to heighten the lusty, good-natured fun. Luis Bunuel's major theme in this film is showing his dislike
for the 'bourgeois' segment of society. A similar theme was
shown about 5 years after "Discreet Charm"'s premiere, although
more playfully, in Bunuel's "That Obscure Object of Desire."
In what seems to be a dreamlike scene in "Discreet Charm",
a group of defenseless 'bourgeois' friends is machine gunned
without reason. Did the director think the friends
deserved the punishment?
"The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie" unfolds with the absurd logic of a recurrent dream, and since the DVD has been beautifully restored, one is able to dream the dream in vivid color: Elegantly dressed guests arrive for a dinner party only to have the hostess inform them that they have arrived on the wrong night; thus, they keep making appointments for dinners that are continually interrupted for one reason or another--all of the reasons being as patently ridiculous as are the characters: a bishop, who arrives at the house and asks to be hired as a gardener, and then relates the story of his macabre childhood; a soldier, who arrives at a restaurant (that has run out of tea and coffee), asks to join the ladies, whom he has never met before, and relates the story of his macabre childhood; a General, who arrives with his platoon a day early at the same house with the same hostess in time for dinner, and then, after the General invites a Private to relate the story of his macabre dream to the hosts and the invited guests (who listen attentively), both General and platoon depart for maneuvers (but not before inviting all the guests to his house for dinner, where even more macabre events unfold.). Thus, the dreams contain dreams within dreams within dreams within dreams within dreams et cetera ad absurdum.

This film is for anyone who has ever had recurrent nightmares of waiting for a bus on the wrong corner; of being about to take a test only to discover that one has studied the wrong subject; of being about give a lecture only to discover that one has forgotten the notes; or of performing on stage with a mouth stuffed with peanut-butter when one's cue is coming up. All the absurd commonplaces that make perfect sense when one is dreaming. And much of the "discreet charm" of the bourgeois characters in this film derives from the fact that one is dreaming their nightmares and not one's own.
This is arguably Buñuel's best film. Described as "a complex, shifting, virtually plotless web of dreams within dreams within dreams," Luis Buñuel's 1972 Academy Award winning surrealist film, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie) chronicles five derailed dinner parties of a group of three affluent Parisian couples, intermixed with four dreams dreamt by different characters. The sextet of friends includes Rafael Acosta (Fernando Rey), François Thévenot (Paul Frankeur), Simone Thévenot (Delphine Seyrig), Florence (Bulle Ogier), Alice Sénéchal (Stéphane Audran), andHenri Sénéchal (Jean-Pierre Cassel). Although they constantly arrive for dinner parties, they never actually eat. Whether they arrive on the wrong night, or there's a corpse in the next room, their plans are always thwarted by some absurd complication. Meanwhile, secrets involving adultery, perversions, boredom, hypocrisies, military maneuvers, and drug smuggling are revealed beneath the surface of their "polite," bourgeois facade. Buñuel breaks all the narrative rules in this film. Dreams interrupt scenes and unpredictabile surreal twists interrupt the film's narrative in a way that might be described as Monty Python at its most extreme. While other filmmakers are retired at age 72, Buñuel was at his charming best.

Criterion's two-disc edition of this masterpiece includes a new high-definition film transfer, El náufrago de la calle de Providencia (The Castaway on the Street of Providence, 1970): a 24-minute documentary homage to Buñuel by his friends Arturo Ripstein and Rafael Castanedo, A propósito de Buñuel (Speaking of Buñuel, 2000): a new 98-minute documentary on the life and work of Buñuel by Jose Luis López-Linares and Javier Rioyo, the original theatrical trailer, and new and improved English subtitles. Highly recommended, must-see cinema.

One of the Spanish master's funniest films, the Oscar-winning "Charm" gleefully savages the manners and mores of the upper crust, employing bizarre plotlines and fanciful farce to attack the well-heeled scions of respectable society as vain, decadent, elitist, and thoroughly amoral. Rey, Seyrig, and New Wave icon Ogier head the stellar ensemble cast, with Julien Bertheau standing out as a pompous, not-so-holy bishop. Buñuel's dream-within-a-dream sequences, which involve ghosts, terrorists, and sundry other characters, are simply brilliant, and bring this sublime, extended joke to the verge of divine absurdity.

There are not many artists who could tell the same joke over and over again and get away with it creating the film as brilliant, funny, absurd, witty, and clever as Buñuel's "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie", 1972. The story of six friends who try to arrange and have a nice dinner together but cannot complete (or even start) their meal does not sound very exiting but wait until you watch this comedy. I've always known how interesting surrealism is but I never thought how funny it could be. I've seen the film four or five times - it only gets better with each viewing. Highly recommended.

What can be more enjoyable then a meal among friends and family? In Luis Buñuel's surrealistic comedyThe Discreet Charm Of The Bourgeoisieit is this common ritual a sextet of upper-class friends repeatedly attempt, only to be obstructed by one obscure event after another. Masterfully balancing the dichotomy of class vs. debauchery Buñuel delivers a ripping critique of the upper class. It is clear from the beginning that the lives Buñuel'sBourgeoisieare living are not what they seem. Eventually, their true colors begin to shine; not in actual actions but in haunting dreams. What is real and what lies in the subconscious becoming exceedingly blurry and in order to deliver his message, surrealism must take over. It is hard to pigeonhole Buñuel's classic that won him the Oscar forBest Foreign Language Film 1972: An absurd odyssey? A discreet satire? Not necessarily, but definitely charming.--Rob Bracco

This is a REALLY funny movie, from the very beginning! Kim Novak is awesome, as usual, and Ray Walston is absolutely hilarious! Seems a little ahead of it's time, a surprising twist, totally enjoyable!
Billy Wilder's most notorious flop, KISS ME STUPID (1964) was one of the first mainstream Hollywood movies to deal with the risque subject of partner-swapping. Dean Martin is the top-billed star (his character is very much a supporting one); but the film belongs to the sublime comic talents of Ray Walston and a surprisingly mellow, downbeat Kim Novak.

In the small town of Climax, Nevada, struggling songwriter Orville Spooner (Ray Walston) and his friend Barney (Cliff Osmond) attempt to trap visiting singer Dino (Dean Martin) into covering one of their pop songs. To sweeten the deal, Orville sidelines his wife Zelda (Felicia Farr) and substitutes local good-time gal Polly "The Pistol" (Kim Novak). Complications arise when Orville and Polly start taking their married couple act a little too seriously; and a drunken Zelda accidentally spends the night with Dino!

Wilder injects the story with equal parts hilarity and heartache. Kim Novak in particular will haunt you with her downbeat performance as the local floozy aching to enjoy the kind of stable, loving life which Orville's wife takes for granted. Novak's chemistry with Ray Walston is delightful, and their performances really cement this as one of the best romantic comedies of the 60's. As one would also expect from Wilder, the ending is very bittersweet but appropriate for the characters. I suspect this was another reason why the movie flopped with audiences during it's original release.

The DVD is sadly devoid of extra features. KISS ME STUPID is a brightly-written, intelligent romantic comedy (remember them?), and is highly-recommended from this corner.
The one and only reason to see this is the gorgeous Kim Novak. Novak has charisma to spare. Makes her
character, Polly the Pistol, fun, lovely, and--absolutely believable.

Walston seems miscast. Martin not very good at all. Writing is contrived&doesn't work.
Some claim Wilder was a genius... Seems, to me, he was far better as a director, than a writer.

A rather unfunny film that has dated badly. Some moments but really misses the mark. Avoid.
Billy Wilder's crude and lewd sex comedy was roundly condemned on its original release by various religious and social groups-unsuprisingly so.It does take a satirical and sarcastic look at marriage,small town life and values ,not to mention the music business and the media.Yet ,if you look beneath the surface you will find a sensitive and ironic fable of love ,fidelity and jealousy.The screenplay ,by Wilder and frequent collaborator A I L Diamond ,is based on a play L'Ora Della Fanatsia by Anna Bonacci and Americanises the setiing and tone .It takes place in a small town named Climax where a famous crooner Dino (Dean Martin in entertainingly self -parodic mode )stops for gas en route to Vegas .He is deliberately delayed by a garage attendant Braney Millsap (Cliff Osmond )and piano teacher Orville J Spooner (Ray Walston -deputising for the originally cast Peter Sellars who withdrew for health resons).They are intent on getting him to use some of their songs (actually minor Gershwin numbers)and knowing of his reputation as a "swinger"provide him with the services of a lady of the night Polly the Pistol (Kim Novak) the hostess at a local dive named TheBelly Button.They first ensure that Sponner's wife Zelda (Felicia Farr)is safely out of the way -partly to protect her from Dino's advances .
There is a sting in the tale in this satire on personal ambition and what it does to people and their values .The movie revolves around sexual manipulation and the movie while smart and slick is not going to be enjoyed by died in the wool feminists or family values capaigners .The movie has a lot to say and says it wittily and candidly.Provided you do not object to a less than whole hearted endorsement of the joys of hearth and home then it will entertain you .Moral Conservatives please avoid it -its not your bag

In 1964 director Billy Wilder was at the top of his game. Following a string of hits that had begun in 1959 withSome Like It Hot, he now intended to direct a bawdy boudoir farce in the grand tradition of the French theater. The stickers are nice and pretty thick actually. I was impressed with the material of them. So far they haven't scratched or worn off or come off the phone. The display picture was easy to get as well. They give you a link in the package and ask you to put in a code and then you get either a text or email message with the picture attached. Pretty simple. If you're looking to decorate your blackberry I recommend this product/brand.
I really like the way this skin looks on my new Blackberry Curve 8310. I get lots of compliments and it suits my colorful pesonality while protecting my cute phone's outter shell from any scratches. The only reason why I didn't rate it 5 stars is because the skin comes with a web address where you are supposed to go to download your screensaver to match the skin color.... but for some odd reason MY skin design wasn't available (Pink Tranquility). I have tried visiting the site for weeks to see if they get it and it just reads "skin design not available".

I would recommend this book to anyone, especially those dastardly dog-lovers who think cats are aloof&inferior. I do have to issue a warning about the chapter titled 'Farewell, My Love' though - don't read it if you are feeling vulnerable! It is very, very, very, very, very sad. I think the other reviewers have significantly underrated the 'crying element' to this book. My husband came home to find me red-eyed, shaken&exhausted after spending an afternoon in this particular chicken soup! Luckily there is a lovely, warm chapter about rescue kitties right after it which helps to restore one's equilibrium somewhat. All in all, it made me love not just my own babies more but all cats!
The stories are wide ranged in nature but sorted in chapters where you can identify with your specific cat joy or sorrow. Some of the authors are well known. Others are amateurs who love a cat. The list of Contributors and Permissions speaks for itself. This book is truly literature for cat lovers. I read every story and love them all.
What a wonderful collection! It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me grab my own 2 kitties for a big hug. I like the idea of an anthology. I can take the book to work and read a story or two during lunch break. I also bought "A Cup of Comfort for Cat Lovers." If you like stories about cats you'll like that book as well.

I found this book by accident, just flipped through a few pages and found out within about a minute I was definitely purchasing it. I like the way it is organized, you can read it much easier than most witchcraft books. And I definitely love the fact it has a lot of spells concerned with Hoodoo. As for the ingredients they are a bit rare but I found a website [...] that sells many different and numerous kinds of herbs. Overall, I definitely recommend buying this book.

This book is one of those classic texts that I don't see going away for a long time. Great information presented here!!! I really enjoyed the doll working section ... a great chapter on using poppets and rituals to use them... I also liked the section on using the traditional "lamps".... That information is very good as well... You also get tips and tricks of other traditional magical information here. This book is cheap and you get some good information! Be prepared to have a lot of herbs and make a good deal of magical formulas, powders and oils when you get this book. This book does rely heavily on herbal magic. Great information!

I loved this book. It was the first book i have read by Kaye Gibbons and it certainly will not be my last.

The story centers on a turn of the century midwife and follows her life to the end.

The granddaughter is telling the story. I could not put the book down. It totally captivated me.

The title is certainly a story in itself. It did not mean what I had predicted.

You shouldn't miss the one. It is great!
This is a very mediocre book, not up to the level of Kaye Gibbons' earlier works.

It is about three generations of women. The writing is mostly minimalist and told
in generalizations. There is no real substantive connection with any of the char-
acters.

The grandmother is an herbal medicine woman who is a legend in the south. She
is big-mouthed, direct and honest. She interacts with her granddaughter who
worships her. The mother is a woman without spirit and portrayed as a shadow
figure.

I recommend that you try an earlier book by Gibbons such as 'Ellen Foster'.
This was first book of Ms. Gibbons I'd ever read. I didn't know who she was until now. Started the book on a flight from Kansas City to Los Angeles. Within 3 or 4 readings, I had it finished and wanted more. Very well written and in an easy, conversational dialogue. I like her writing style and I enjoyed the book very much. HIGHLY recommend.
I have read and enjoyed Kaye Gibbons' other works ("Ellen Foster", "A Cure for Dreams", and "Sights Unseen") and I think, with the possible exception of "Ellen Foster" that she has outdone even herself. The characters- grandmother Clarissa "Charlie Kate" Birch, a self-taught alternative healer, mother Sophia, the most romantic of the family, and main character and daughter Margaret, practical, intelligent, yet romantic- are unique, they stand out from the average woman of the 1930s-1940s of the South. Yet at the same time, they have the same basic desire, to be loved and respected, as anyone else.
Gibbons' portrayal of Charlie Kate as eccentric yet admired by the community for her healing work showed that one does not necessarily need to follow the mainstream in order to be successful and happy. Reading "Charms for the Easy Life" in fact made me kind of wish I had the education and skills to be an alternative healer.
This story is more than a little farfetched -- quirky unlicensed but sought-after physician grandmother enlightened enough (in the U.S. South, in the 1940s and 1950s) to give abortions and do CPR on colored folk -- silly mom -- plain young girl who has no exposure to males in any form or at any age, who suddenly falls in love with a rich privileged handsome guy with curable war wounds. It instantly blended into a dozen or so such chick-lit feel-good southern stories I've read over the past decade or so, and like them left not a trace on my brain or imagination.

A family without men, the Birches live gloriously offbeat lives in the lush, green backwoods of North Carolina. This is an interesting, if uneven collection of rare 50s r&b by Henry Stone (who would later produce KC and the Sunshine Band) and his Chart label. Much of this is quite appealing, especially the humorous uptempo tunes by the Champions ("Mexico Bound,""Annie Met Henry"No Good Woman"Come on and Love Me"). Being properly the First Evening to Wagner's epic Ring Cycle, the Valyrie is the most famous out of the four operas, mainly because of its Ride of the Valkyries and the Magic Fire Music. This Valkyrie, conducted by Reginald Goodall and performed by the English National Opera, is worth listening to.

It's true that Goodall has the slowest tempi ever for a Ring recording: a total of 16 hours and 50 minutes, two hours more than the average Ring recording! But it's not at all bad. Sometimes the slow pacing works, and sometimes it doesn't. "Wotan's Farewell" isn't taken at a slow pace at all, and I do miss the slower approach that James Levine took. "Ride of the Valkyries" is just right, but I do miss Karl Bohm's energetic storm. And let's not forget about the orchestra. I love the bass clarinet that plays after Wotan's cry of dismay in Act Two, Scene Two. The strings and brass in "Magic Fire Music" are astonishing, it's great! The low brass in "Annunciation of Death" makes the scene so much more tragic than in Georg Solti's "Annunciation". So the orchestra gets another point.

The cast can only be described as "amazing." Norman Bailey, Alberto Remedios, and Margaret Curphy would be the ultimate Wotan, Siegmund, and Sieglinde for the English language. Rita Hunter is at her strongest here in "Valyrie" and she sings with her heart and soul perfectly. What I wouldn't give if I had a chance to see her live back in the 70's. Clifford Grant is a very good Hunding (just not the most impressive), while Anne Howard is a very believable Fricka. The Valkyrie cast are no match with Furtwangler and Bohm's cast, but they still can make the whole third act worthwhile.

And so as the "Magic Fire Music" plays on, we get a little sense of what's going to happen in "Siegfried."

This is one of three Walkure's in my collection: the very underrated Leinsdorf, the thrilling Boehm and this one with Goodall. I believe Goodall is right up there with the best of them. Remedios, Hunter and Bailey sing beautifully and with sufficient drama. I'll go out on a musical limb and say I believe Bailey is one of the finest Wotan's on disc. Many will disagree but I think he has the measure of the role, the power to pull it off and a burnished timber that never becomes coarse under powerful climaxes... Remedios may well be the star of the trilogy along with Hunter and Bailey. His Siegmund is beautifully sung and his Siegfried by the way, is no mean stint either. Would that we had tenors that could sing Siegfried without sounding stretched beyond their limits. I am continually puzzled by the bad reviews that the orchestra playing receives from ARG, Classics Today and a few others. The ENO is not a Concertgebouwor Vienna Philharmonic but I think they play beautifully, a few clinkers notwithstanding. For a live show, they do a pretty d..... good job. THe sound from both orchestra and singers is exceptionally fine. This set belong in your collection if you like Wagner and, Die Walkure, in particular. If I had been at the performance in the 1970's I would have come home very happy, satisfied and richer for the experience.
I had long cringed at the thought of this magnificant masterpiece recorded in English. Even after reading several rave reviews on this cylce that I've read by authoritive Wagnerites and critics, I was still skeptical. Finally, I decided to add Goodall's 'Ring' as my third complete cycle (after Solti&Bohm) for one reason: because it was in English and I felt it would enhance my understand of 'The Ring.' In fact, after achieving that "higher understanding" I was planning on selling this set on Ebay. That was, of course, before I heard this magnificant recording.

During the course of my research on 'The Goodall Ring' most of the praised seemed to heighten around 'Siegfried,' which is my absolute favorite of the cycle. That also helped to seal the deal. As the critics said, 'Siegfried' under Goodall is excellent, but not as monumental as Solti's reading, which IMHO is the greatest recording of 'Siegfried.'

The set that stands out, to me, in 'The Goodall Ring' is this recording; The Valkyrie. It is absolutely breathtaking. Not only is it my favorite of this set, it is my favorite Valkyrie recording period (I am very familiar with Boehm's, Solti's, Karajan's, Furthwanglers, Levines, and others). Alberto Remedios (Siegmund here and Siegfried in the last two operas) is truly magnificant. It is the best Siegmund I have heard on disc (and his Siegfried rivals Windgassen). Coupled with Margaret Curphey (Sieglinde), you get the most beautiful and moving duo I have heard on record. The duet in Act I is simply glorious. You also get the bonus of Norman Bailey's triumphant Wotan (and Wanderer too). He has such command and prescene. He sounds like a God. Throw in Rita Hunter, who holds her own as Brunnhilde, Goodall's miraculous conducting, and excellent playing by the orchestra and it all adds up to a stunning recording.

I can only say that in a way it's a shame this set is in English. Were it not, I believe Goodall's 'Ring' would be one of the most talked about, popular, and sought after complete recordings of the cycle. I can only say that I am so happy that I finally opened up to opera recorded in a different language than written.

I have fallen completely in love with Goodall's entire cycle. And, I have fallen in love with 'The Ring' all over again.
This performance of *Die Valkure,* the second and most popular opera in Wagner's Ring Cycle, is musically splendid. Its special significance, however, is that it is sung in English. An English performance of the Ring is perhaps more important than that of any other opera(s), because Wagner's libretti are suffused with his ideas about society, fate, justice, and love. Even if (at times) you need to read along to understand what the singers are saying, *hearing* the lyrics in English is truly stirring in a way that performances in your non-native language cannot match.
A particular stand-out on this recording is the Wotan. His timbre, diction, and delivery perfectly embody the troubled god who tries desperately, and in vain, to keep the world under his control. His angst and wrath are utterly convincing.
I have never been a fan of opera in translation, but I must say that Andrew Porter's rendering of The Ring in English is amazing. He uses modern, not archaic, English, and the word choice is so very earthy and Germanic that the noble yet somewhat severe atmosphere of the Teutonic myths is conveyed perfectly. The sound, in other words, is an elegantly Germanic, and totally appropriate for the music and the Story it tells. It is not true that you can't understand the English anyway, because you can understand if you care to pay any attention at all. The translation is lucid, and so it the marvelous singing that conveys it.

Goodall's sense of music drama is lush, and takes some getting used to after the crash-and-burn Solti set, but after a time or two it seems just right. Goodall is not always slower than the rest, either; for example, the famous Ride of the Valkyries that begins Act III is quicker than Solti's surprisingly slow and heavy account. It is the most exciting that I have heard--and I have heard quite a few--but it is not so fast that the power is lost in favor of urgency.

This is not an urgent Die Walkure, and it is all the better for it. Goodall takes the time to actually tell the story, and is sensitive to the drama's needs over what could be called convention. For example, Wotan's Farewell doesn't thunder out after Brunnhilde's final declamation, like in so many recordings; rather, Goodall's interpretation is more dreamy, mysterious, and appropriately trance-like, in keeping with the action on stage.

I own the complete Solti Ring, but I must say I will be the first in line to get each new installment of this remarakable Ring as soon they hit the shelves. If you are new to Wagner, and are willing to make the plunge into a complete Ring, then start with this one and see if you want to continue. This recording is definitely one of the great Rings, and the superb translation will open up the work in ways that following the libretto just won't. I promise that you won't be able to put this one away easily. Get it!

When Bright Days, Dark Nights came out I didnt give him a second listen. The album was weak and he came off as another gimmick. Deliverance was a great album that proved me wrong and showed that Bubba Sparxxx was capable of giving his best backed up by Timbaland and Organized Noize production. This album here stinks. It has its moments with tight tracks like Represent, The Otherside feat Petey Pablo and Sleepy Brown(which sounds like a leftover from Deliverance) and Hey(A Little Gratitude). But these songs are offset by hot garbage tracks like Ms New Booty feat Ying Yang Twins(who thought that this collabo was a good idea?), As The Rims Spin, That Man feat Duddy Ken and Sleepy Brown, Claremount Lounge feat Killer Mike and Cool Breeze(AWFUL) and Wonderful. Bubba's intentions were good when he made Aint Life Grand feat Scar and Run Away feat Frankie J but his suprisingly weak bars kill the potential those tracks had. Heat It Up is better than Ms New Booty but its still forgettable. After hearing this album, Bubba Sparxxx career might be on thin ice. You dont follow up a brilliant album with a stinker unless you are intentionally trying to kill the momentum you gained by doing so. Deliverance was a clever and thoughtful album, The Charm is a contrived attempt at commercialism that falls flat on its face. Hopefully Bubba will break camp from Purple Ribbon because the direction they are taking him in will only lead to his downfall. Standouts: REPRESENT, THE OTHERSIDE AND HEY(A LITTLE GRATITUDE).
As I said in my review for Bubba Sparxxx's previous album Deliverance, the problem he has is that people are all about his album when it first comes out, but then a month later he'd be lucky if it's still on the Billboard 200. The same fate came with his third album The Charm, which is a shame because it's his best offering yet.

This album has a slightly different sound because Timbaland only produces one song on here ("Hey!"), possibly because Bubba jumped ship from Blackground and instead released this album on Purple Ribbon. Speaking of that, the first time I heard "Claremont Lounge" (with Killer Mike and Cool Breeze) was on the Got Purp Vol. II compilation, and I'm still not too impressed by it. But other songs fare better, like "Heat It Up" and "Represent". And "Wonderful" is just that.

Sleepy Brown also drops by to lay down his usual breezy vocals on two back-to-back winners: "That Man" and "The Otherside". Everything else is great except that the music to "As the Rim Spins" is a little too, well, "nice" for a rap song (listen to it to understand what I mean); and sorry, but I never liked "Ms. Fat Booty". But it's still not too late to pick up The Charm.

Bubba is one of my favorite rappers&this CD was great. "Run Away" with Frankie J is a wonderful song.
Any true hiphop head has taken notice of bubba's lyrical skills on his first two albums, which he has essentially left behind on this strictly booty shake release. Now I can't say I blame him, it is after all a business, but in my opinion he is sacrificing his potential to have a long lasting artistic career, which looked so promising as he progressed from dark days to deliverance (and then took 30 steps backwards with this). I only hope he makes/made enough from this release to go back to making meaningful/thoughful tracks...such as warrant.
Well Bubba Sparxxx has managed to churn out some good stuff in the past, the problem was that it either had only good beats like on Dark Days, Bright Nights or good lyrics on his second album Deliverance. After not having not so good sells with the latter album he hopes the third times the "Charm" here.

Thankfullly with you don't get the usual guest heavy, 15+ track album that last over 70 minutes when artist release their third album. The album opens up nicely with Represent where Bubba talks about where he's from and all. Bubba manages to take you back to his good ole days from deliverance on "As The Rim Spins". The guest appearances that are on here are on key like Killer Mike and Cool Breeze's verses ("Claremont Lounge"). Frankie J does his thing singing on the chorus to "Run Away" and ditto Sleepy Brown on "The Otherside" with M.I.A. Peety Pablo teaming up with Bubba Sparxxx to drop some lines.

There are ups and downs with party joints produced by Mr. Collipark on "Ms. New Booty" which is ovverated especially since the music sounds exactly like David Banner's "Play", and the mellow laidback beat of "Heat It Up". Unlike others I was dissapointed with Timbalands production "Hey! (A Lil' Gratitude)" Also this album seems a little to popish and radio friendly compared with his past stuff. Sales wise this album is Bubba's best which would convince you to buy it but I suggest you check out Delivarance before trying to "charm" yourself.

I have loved these sour balls since childhood but was really disappointed that each can had only 1--I repeat-1 wild cherry sourball. The red included in numbers is something like a raspberry. Really poor form, Charms folks.

I got these as an activity for my daughter's Twilight party. I attached a Twilight quote to one of them ("You are my life now") and hid them around the "room". The mixed group of late teens had fun trying to find the rings and then identified how many times they would get married based on how many rings they found. The person who found the ring with the quote got a prize (Twilight soundtrack). This item was perfect for my purposes. It arrived in plenty of time for the party. Very happy with my purchase!
The product itself is great.
I like how the extendable part is on top because when its on the bottom its rather annoying.
I used it for a twilight birthday party and it really worked out because it fit mostly everybody (not the guys).
My fingers are stubby(ring size 8) so i was stoked that it actually fit my fingers.
And it also worked fine for anyother guest with ring size 5 (though it worked better on her thumb).
Its cute, a little bit better then in the vending machine.
I like it.

I love Wella's White Lady toner. My natural hair is almost black and I bleach it a few times to a yellow. This blue/ violet toner counteracts the yellow and produces a lovely platinum color. I also use this as a refresher when my color has faded.
