(Raw, driving, surging rock and roll)
I saw The Checks live in Auckland and I haven't seen energy explode from the stage like that for a long time. It reminded me why I love music, when every nerve flinches and you feel like leaping on stage and kicking the mic stand over yourself. The studio mix on the EP doesn't quite succeed in capturing their spirit live, but with a full LP on the way I have huge expectations from them.
2007 Reissue of New Zealand High Energy Power Rockers' Debut Single, Produced by Ian Broudie (Formerly of the Lightning Seeds). The Title Track is Backed by the Songs "She's a Dreamer" and "How Come".

(Juvi's Reality Check bounced)

(Juvenile has grown musically, is back, and is better)

(One of the best Juvenile Albums)

(Sloppy)

(Good album from Juve!)
You might remember Juvenile for giving you great albums like Soulja Rags, 400 Degreez and Tha G Code. Juvenile has been down a slippery slope of wackness since Project English. Even though this album is not as bad as the previous two that came before it, its still a forgettable release. The album starts off good with Get Ya Hustle On where Juvi attempts to make a song of substance. Around The Way and Sets Go Up(feat Whacko)are pretty good too. Even though the hook is goofy as hell, I like Keep Talkin(feat Red Eyezz and Skip). I know You Know(feat Trey Songz) is a decent cut for the ladies that should have been the first single instead of Rodeo. Pop U features Ludacris and Fat Joe who along with Juvenile give a good performance. Holla Back might be effective in the club scene. The album has many songs that are weak though. Rodeo was a bad choice for a first single(that video is a cheap rendition of the movie Player's Club) and it was boring! Its not the only dull song on here though. Animal and Say It To Me Now(feat Kango)are bland tracks that will knock you out like shots of Hennessey. Addicted(featuring a hilariously bad performance by Brian Mcknight) is not even a song. Its just Juvenile talking; no not taking; WHINING about some girl stalking him. Even though Skip's verse was comical, Loose Booty(also featuring 8-Ball) is straight garbage. Who's Ya Daddy is plain stupid and so is What's Happening(D-list Sir Mix-a-lot rhymes over a A-list beat:Priceless). Bun B has a dope verse on Rock Like That but the track is still filler and Why Not feat Skip is Ha part 2. More Disposables: Way I Be Leanin(feat Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Skip and Whacko) and Break A Brick Down. Bottom Line: Juvenile's Reality Check is not his worst album(Hello, Project English anybody?)but its still a forgettable release that might not be reached for years to come like his first three albums on Cash Money. Standout Tracks: GET YOUR HUSTLE ON, AROUND THE WAY, SET'S GO UP, KEEP TALKIN, HOLLA BACK and POP U.
Even though I think "400 degreez" has more solid hits in the form of 3 songs (Back that a** up, Ha (and the Jay-z remix), Follow me now), I still like this album. Juve seems to have grown in his lyrics and musical style. He explores more music themes instead of that hot-southern sound from Mannie Fresh. He also sounds angrier- actually like his voice sounds like he's growling most of the time.lol. My fave songs: What's happenin, Pop U, Rodeo. I think the album is very listenable and has at least one or more songs anyone would like.
Get ya hustle on, get ya hustle on! This is the Juvenile album I liked the best out of all of them.
The songs on this c.d. are just plain wack. I loved the old Juvenile so i thought i may as well go ahead and buy this album. But I was wrong to do that. Juvenile's last album was hot and this album was nowhere near that. No creativity and the hooks sucked. Production was also awful. Sorry Juve but this album was not your best. Could have done a lot better.
Pretty good album. Only a few songs I didn't like but the rest were hot. Another great effort from Juve!

Early hints seemed to suggest thatReality Checkcould be a turning point for Juvenile. Fueled by the destruction of his native New Orleans, Juve seemed ready to let the world feel his wrath. Instead,Reality Checkhardly breaks much new ground; even "Get Ya Hustle On," with its stark video filmed in the ravaged 5th Ward, is little more than another "cook crack" anthem even if he takes time to lash out at FEMA. It's not likeReality Checkwill disappoint old fans--the cocky swagger and brazen sexuality is still in full effect, especially on stripper pole anthems like "Rodeo," and "Loose Booty" or any of the electro-groovy tunes such as "Why Not" or the explosive "Pop U." Still, compared to former Hot Boy partner Lil Wayne, whose recentTha Carter IIfound Weezy pushing to a new level of artistry, Juve seems content to coast.--Oliver Wang
Featuring guest artists Ludacris, Trey Songz, Bun B, 8Ball, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Brian McKnight and others, Reality Check is Juvenile's most well-rounded album to date. As for the album tile, Juvenile explains, "That's where I'm at right now in my life. I feel like everybody needs a reality check. I have em' all the time. Nobody's perfect." Then, smiling wide enough to show all his diamond-encrusted teeth, he finishes: "But I feel like I got the perfect album."

(Great music)

(downset on the bottom)

(Otro gran disco d Downset)

(I WAITED FOUR YEARS FOR THIS?!)

(what a dissapointment!)
It's easy to criticize this album for not having lyrics as engaging as Downset's first two albums, but is that really fair? It's not realistic to expect a band to have such inspired topics to write about without sounding dated. The delivery of their ideas may not seem up to par, but you can tell they're still the same band. The music may not be as energetic, but it's more interesting all-around. "Which Way" is a departure from the usual singing and, while not everyone may enjoy it, it's an interesting attempt to expand their sound. "En El Aire" has some of the best simple rhythmic coordination I've ever heard (the timing of the shouts with the of the rest of the band stopping). There is no "Anger," nor "Empower," but the average song is better than those from each of the first CDs. In the end you have a socially conscious band improving as musicians and perhaps delivering a little duller of a message.
this album is good but lost some of the fire and flavor of the first two albums
Es un disco con una produccion mas compacta y aunq me gusta menos q los otros cds, me parece muy bueno
Yes. It was four years since I got their DO WE SPEAK A DEAD LANGUAGE LP and a little over three years since I saw them live. These guys should have taken only two years off; their musical direction has changed from 'mosh-core' (see early BIOHAZARD) to a sort of nu-metal/rock thing. The clean vocals are awful, Rey (singer.) There is also some rather humiliating dancehall/reggae type vocals done on a few of the songs. Furthermore, the previous release by this band was the best so far for the variation of fast thrashing hardcore songs and heavy mosh grooves. CHECK YOUR PEOPLE has, if I remember correctly, not one fast hardcore/punk song on the album. Thats quite upsetting to me folks. Interestingly there are some AC/DC like hooks thrown here and there on some of the songs like that of 'Together.' If there was some 'saving grace' to this album it would be Rey's lyrics which maintain their social and political stances which were still under development of the last two albums. This overall is a bad downset. album.
I followed this band's career from their first album, and I loved both that, and their second CD. But with this one, something just hadn't clicked in my head, for I fail to see anything worth mentioning here.
Everything that has made Downset such a good band to me is gone here, no passion, no inspiration, no softly spoken words delivering the message (like there were so many on their 1st CD). Instead we have a clear nu-metal influence plastered on an old-school-hardcore base, and vocals that try to sound angry, instead ending up sounding tired. And, if that is not enough, Ray Oropeza even tries to sing clear on a couple of tracks. And what an awful attempts these are!

To give this album some credit, I found only 4 songs (of 13 total) that I like, that remind me of their early glory days. Call me old-fashioned, or close-minded, whatever, but I can't give this one more than 3 stars. 3 stars here meaning mostly indifference.

Hope this is not their final CD, and Downset will succeed in exiting in style, just like RATM did.

(Foreign Adventure)

(The Image Entertainment/Hal Roach DVD is the BEST version of this title!)

(5 stars in hopes for non PUBLIC DOMAIN or best qulity dvd ever released)

(Truly Brilliant)

(One act that doen't stand test of time)
The film starts with a comic scene in a bookstore. Two men offer $1,000 for a map in the book "Dark Safari". A woman offers $2,500 for the same map. Stanley Livington remembers that detail very well (too good to be true?). [The story and its subject are certainly dated.] Clyde Beatty plays himself. Shemp Howard plays another near-sighted character (like his role in a "Blondie" movie). There are plenty of gags to amuse the viewers. Buzz overhears Diana talking about the real purpose of the expedition - its not for a giant orangutan. Frank Buck plays himself. There are comic situations, most are still funny. There is a very comic scene with a lion skin and a real lion. Clyde Beatty does his lion taming act.

After this the boys find diamonds just laying on the ground. They follow the trail to where it leads. The natives have them over for dinner. A secret friend unties them. There is more intrigue and comic chases. More fun results from a failure to communicate. The natives are appalled by a giant gorilla, and flee. Buzz takes off down the river on a raft. What will happen to poor Stanley now?

Back in Manhattan Stanley is living large in a big building with his name on it. Then we see his partner and the cause of his wealth. [Is there a moral here?] This film is not as funny as earlier films.

Many cheapie companies offer this title at a lower price. Pass up those horrible copies and buy this excellent IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT / HAL ROACH STUDIOS DVD mastered from the original 35mm NITRATE NEGATIVE!

This is the same excellent master film used by Image for their Laserdisc release. The only thing missing here is the Bloopers&Out-takes that were on the Laserdisc.

This movie is the best of the five independent films that Abbott&Costello made in my opinion. And it stands up better than most of their 1950's Universal films. Where else will you see Bud&Lou teamed up with some of the THREE STOOGES? Shemp Howerd and Joe Besser join Abbott&Costello's safari to add to the laughs!
Besser would later join Bud&Lou for their 1950's TV show as "Stinky" before becoming a Stooge!

if this is a bad print then why they release it again every one knows that all the other releases are bad prints so then they would know they wouldnt make much money which is why I think this print will be the best quality dvd of africa Scraems ever released. They should also release jack and the beanstalk to but with a good quality print.if this dvd good enough its a Low chance but it may push the other compinies to put out the abbott and costello films that are not avaivble on Dvd yet.
It's hard to know if the director makes the Abbott and Costello films work, or the timing of Bud and Lou.
If you can see the Shows Bud and Lou did on the COLGATE Comedy Hour, its clear that Lou is a brilliant Improvisor, so whilst he did seem to forget his lines on the Colgate Comedy show, he created a quick stock of lines to get back on beat. Very few teams did this kind of solid work.
As a side note, CALL ME BWANA seems to have some similarities to AFRICA SCREAMS, or is it the other way around? :-)

Anyways, sketch style of humour is held together by a totally fun story, and some great actors, comic and regular. Shemp Howard does indeed do a great job in this film, and even the actor who replaced Shemp post 1955, makes a good job of his brief appearance ( his voice seems to be the basis for much animation in the 60s as well).
Like most of the Abbott and Costello stock, this film depends on their style, and the story works around them ( I guess), but Lou is, as usual, the centre of attention, but depends on Bud's straight man delivery for the scenes to work. And work they do.

Immaculately timed, and well delivered, this is one of many excellent films by a great team.

ENJOY

I rented this mainly for my 5- and 3-year olds, who were predictably amused, though they volunteered that Abbott&Costello aren't as good as the Marx Brothers. That's putting it mildly.

I also wanted to see if they were as entertaining as I remembered them from my childhood: They aren't. I can only suppose they were an innovative act in their heyday in the '40s, when they were the biggest grossing movie comedians, but -- what can I say? -- they fail the proverbial test of time. They were fated to Trotsky's ash heap of history -- or, in this case, comedic history -- along with Eddie Cantor, Ma&Pa Kettle, Martin&Lewis, and, hopefully before long, Adam Sandler.

There's a saving grace or two, though, in this movie: One of the Three Stooges, Shemp Howard, has the best bit as a Mr. Magoo-like big game hunter, while a future Stooge, Joe Besser, who, eerily, would one day replace the deceased Howard, does his usual turn as a ludicrous sissy. If only this Abbott&Costello feature had a tenth of the classic qualities of those Three Stooges shorts that contemporaneously got so little respect!

customer 's review
(Works ok, could be easier to read)

(home cholestoral test)

(Excellent service)
It seems like all these home cholesterol test kits suffer from this same problem - results are hard to read accurately. The color change starts out strong, then gradually gets lighter and lighter. Interpretation of the ending point (you are supposed to read the very highest number next to any color change at all) is somewhat subjective; two people could read very different numbers.

I also have to wonder why a lookup chart is needed at all - the numbers printed on the unit are a direct scale, and the lookup chart to covert those numbers to cholesterol readings are a direct scale. Why not just print the cholesterol numbers on the unit itself and do away with the conversion chart altogether?

This product did not have the most important part to it which was the actual scale chart to read the results. I was very dissappointed.
Product was in excellent condition and arrived before delivery date. I would recommend this seller.
