(The Sound of Philly Meets The Sound of Curtis) 『As the story goes, on more than one occasion, when William DeVaughan's grooves would hit the air waves, people would actually start going into record stores asking the clerk,"Yeah, gimme that new Curtis Mayfield record they've been playing on the radio."- - The comparison goes without saying, and although DeVaughan did write and sing like Curtis, his songs stood out in their own right too - - in fact I believe the Impressions actually covered a few... all in all, this is a great mix of the Philly Sound (where most the tracks came out of) and the Curtom sound... and definitely, if you're a lover of sweet (but bumpin') soul, you can't get much better than that. (Favorite track by the way - - Give The Little Man a Great Big Hand, and You Gave Me A Brand New Start... though come to think of it, I like 'em all !) - - Hmmmm ,suddenly I'm in the mood for some Willie Hutch !』

The series will also feature characters from the original Mobile Suit Gundam that continue to fight for their beliefs.
I've been a Gundam Fan for a long time and I must say this is one of the best in the series, but it's not my favorite. The reasons why it isn't because of these things: it can sometimes be odd for the characters to be speaking in a childish tone when they're military, Camille has anger issues, the vocabularies or words can be off at times, and I think that's about it. But overall, it's still a great series.』

It can certainly stand shoulder to shoulder with STAR TREK, FARSCAPE, FIREFLY, and the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA in terms of the best "space based" science fiction. ZETA takes place seven years after the events of MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM and four years after GUNDAM 0083. Old heroes and new ones join forces to fight the vicious Titans, an offshoot of the Earth Federation that make the SS look like a bunch of amatuers. ZETA is similar to the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (or is it the other way around?) in that it is a character-driven science fiction adventure. Creator/director Yoshiyuki Tomino puts the emphasis on characters with very human frailties. No one is perfect, and it is difficult to pigeonhole everyone as simply "good or evil". There are loads of space battles, mobile suits, and action both on earth and in space, but, like GALACTICA, there is a sense of realism and believability. True, the animation is over 20 years old, but it is the STORY that matters. It draws the viewer in and never lets go. The limited edition box set is hard to find, but it is worth the cost. Fans of good science ficiton television, whether you are an anime fan or not, should watch this series. Action, adventure, three-dimensional characters--it's all here. What are you waiting for?』

The trap wall mechanism is cool, but the 'hideout' for the crystal skull behind the conquistador should be closed off. Could also use some more scorpions. We combined our's with the hideout and trees in the Jungle Cutter set, as well as a green baseplate, for a little more real estate. Once you trasnform them once or twice or so it becomes a little easier, but I just bought them for show and play with them every once in a while when I am bored. Overall great toy, but I wouldnt recommend it to kids with tendencies of breaking toys within the first day of having them.』
(Play value reinvented!) 『For a while now many movie toys have lacked a key component of what makes transformers so special. This is play value. It is a simple concept that makes a person just plain enjoy his/her transforming robots. Jetfire has this in spades! In either mode he is very nice as an SR-71 Blackbird or as an angry old man with a Gatling gun on his arm. This figure exudes pure fun. Then there is the combined mode. Wow. If you have this guy do yourself a favor and pick up leader Prime. (Jet Fire It Up!) 『Jetfire is a grizzled old man of a transformer so how does he stack up as an action figure?
For Kids: I can't see how any kid who's into Transformers at all would not like this guy. He's huge, both in robot and in vehicle modes and has lights and sounds. In combined mode with Optimus Prime he's an awesome battle bot of crazy proportions. What's not to like? Well, his transformation is not easy and the combining takes some skill as well so I would not recommend breaking a kid in on this guy. Additionally the panels that make up his vehicle form are thin and have small tabs all over them that could break with an impatient child.
For Adults: In robot mode as he comes out of the box he's quite impressive. He's not really any taller than Leader Class Optimus but seems bigger due to the bulk on his back. It adds a heft to him. While he's heavy he's not overbalanced with it like Human Alliance Sideswipe (Transformers Movie 2 Human Alliance - Sideswipe w/ Sergeant Epps) and the way it's all hooked to his back looks regal on him as opposed to silly. His arms and legs are well articulated but there's not much you can do with his head. Push the button down on his chest and gears in his chest move, his head and chest light up and he says his name in a neat Irish accent.
Changing him to the SR-71 Blackbird is a challenge to say the least and it will take several times to become proficient at it. His main body simply unfolds but the panels of the plane are the difficult part. They click and tab together very delicately. A few of them are designed to pop off instead of break - which is good - but it can get annoying about the 5th time the same panel pops off while you're trying to finish up. Once changed he's as solid as he should be though, assuming you clicked everything into place correctly.
From the top this guy is a picture perfect SR-71 and looks just plain awesome. Take her up to 75,000 feet at Mach 3 baby! In this form you can press a button near the back of the plane to make a swooshing noise. The only problem is that from the sides and bottom you see that the robot is, for an intents and purposes, just hanging there on the bottom of the plane. I know there was probably no way to do it but it would have been cool to somehow hide some of those parts (like his arms) inside the plane.
His third mode is to combine with Leader Class Optimus Prime to form a super robot. This adds something special to owning these two toys that makes them awesome to have. Transforming Jetfire to "combine mode" is pretty simple from his vehicle form and Optimus only needs the flaps on his back opened up. There are four main hook up points. At the feet where they snap together very solidly, under the waist, between the Optimus' legs, where they click together with a plate, with a "belt" that wraps around Optimus and connects around his waist and then at Optimus' shoulders (these are the only hook ups I tend to have trouble with)(EDIT - Turns out you should start at the shoulders and work your way down and there is no problem). Some Jetfire flaps become a cool big gun and the gatling gun hooks to Optimus' arm too.
This mode is astoundingly big and dwarfs everything else on the shelf. It looks kind of manga-ish but really good (there's already tons of pics of this up). The button in the back becomes a combined mode sound when you press it. It's the sound of a huge machine walking and is pretty cool. There really is something special about holding this giant mech in your hands. The arms and head are Optimus' so are fully articulated but from the waist down he's pretty immobile. It probably couldn't be helped.
It's tempting to go 5 stars just based on wow factor but to be realistic Jetfire's jet mode has some issues and his transformation and combining are difficult. I'll go 4 stars but really mean 4 1/2. :-)』

When I opened the box, I was happy to see that it was here. I was really surprised how big this item was. It's huge! It is a little difficult to transform back into a jet, but it is worth the work. There are two parts that go over the head and snap together to connect, and then hook into a back slot that is a little difficult when you are a beginner.
There is a difficult part when you attach Jetfire to Optimus Prime, you have to take his stomach off of his back and bring it down and then take a hook and connect it to Optimus' groin area. It can be hard to pop it on.
But overall, it is a great toy. When he and Optimus are together, it looks awesome and ready to fight The Fallen.
I would recommend this for others to buy.』

I was a little disappointed with the first book in the series, The Priest, but volumes 2 and 3 (yes, I read them out of order) have been extraordinary and a welcome return to what I've come to expect from this very gifted writer. This one follows the story of Caleb, the half-breed from the tribe of Judah who, after the death of Moses, would become not only the greatest warrior of the twelve tribes of Israel, but I believe also God's most dedicated servant of a generation.
Caleb undoubtedly possessed the most unwavering faith among the Jews and this book closely chronicles his struggle, not just with his own sin, but with his inability to sway the people who, over and over, so quickly turned away from their Almighty deliverer. Caleb spent his life, when not destroying the idol-worshippers which infested the promised land, desperately reminding the people of God's grace upon them. Caleb's was a life surely mired in frustration as he watched not one, not even two, but three generations turn away from the Lord God.
Though Joshua is so often the one remembered of the generation of Jews delivered into the land, it was Caleb who was the strength of the people, often standing alone on the side of God. And though even his twelve sons would disappoint Caleb, near the end of his life it would be his one daughter who would give him hope for the future of the Jews.
Once again, Francine Rivers takes the reader through the stories of the Bible in intricate detail, adding narrative, but never venturing from the details.

The hero of our current story is Caleb, warrior of God. The first paragraph--"Run!"--hooked me and I reluctantly inserted my bookmark when other duties called. Kelubai's--Caleb's given name--belief in God begins when in the throes of one of the disasters rained down on Egypt because Pharaoh wouldn't let God's people go. "The God of the Hebrews could turn water to blood and call forth frogs... Here was a God he could worship." He runs to the Hebrews, led by Moses, and asks for acceptance for him and his family to exit Egypt with them. But the Hebrews, just beginning on their journey into the desert, look down their nose at him and tell him no, since he is but a half-breed and descended from the lineage of Esau. When asked his name and he replies, "Kelubai," they jeer and call him Caleb -- dog. Not taking "no" for an answer, he and his family tag along on the fringe of the huge exodus. Finally accepting the name Caleb, his love for God and following His commandments eventually earn him a standing in the community.
When the Jews reach the Jordan River, Caleb is chosen to represent the tribe of Judah to spy out the land with a member of each of the other eleven tribes. Also among the twelve is his young friend, Joshua. For forty days the spies surreptitously inspect the land of Canaan and its people. When returning, they all say how wonderful and fertile the land is; the magnificent crops--some of which they've carried back as witness to the rich fertileness of the land. But ten say the people are too big, too well defended and there is no way they can take the land from them. Caleb and Joshua, however, say God has given them this land; they must fight for it and drive out the Canaanites. They must obey God. But the people don't listen and God returns them to the desert to wander for almost forty years because of their unbelief, disobedience, and complaining. The only two of the current adult generation who will be allowed into Canaan are Caleb and Joshua--the entire adult population dies during the forty years of wandering in the desert.
Francine Rivers has penned a marvelous and poignant story of one man's desire to be all that he can be for God. She's taken the scriptures and brought them alive. And she's done it beautifully. One can't miss the parallels of our own lives and Caleb's, nor God's call to respond to Him as Caleb did. This is the best how to paint the figure book I have seen. A great buy for the money.』
