This is some kind of avant garde, fancy jazz, but not what I was hoping for, and not what I will listen to on a regular basis. This is a very musically, sonically, and tonically challenging work, and I consider the performances excellent, but simply put, this album will not bear up to repeated listening. When it comes to jazz, I know when I'm in the mood for Bill Evans, and when I'm in the mood for Duke Ellington, and in the mood for Billie Holiday, or in the mood for Miles Davis, etc. I will never be "in the mood" for John Zorn. This album sounds like what happens when a toy truck crashes into a music studio while the producers were taking a break watching a Clint Eastwood movie: hollow, tinny pianos, plastic snare drums, gunshot effects, and screaming. If you want a musically interesting CD, this is for you. If you want jazz music, you can take a pass on this.』

Marking a noticeable evolution in this radical composer's one-of-a-kind-career, 1984's early breakthrough interpretations of the spaghetti western king proved a worthy and memorable endeavor. Through Zorn's typically cracked lens Morricone's dusty constructs are given a whole new, usually quite darkened reworking. More traditional fans of these original compositions may initially be turned off with the expansive and distorted liberties taken to resurrect these themes (as compositionally sound as much of the recording is, of course this long album comes with quite a few unsettling, anti-musical audio adventures) but any Zorn fan would be remiss not to own what would start out a long tradition of these fractured, often rewarding tributes.』
(Lots of variety) 『John Zorn stepped away from his game piece albums and began to get into more conventional songs with "The Big Gundown". A set of 15 Ennio Morricone songs, and one Zorn-penned homage to a Morricone song, it's a difficult album to classify. Zorn is usually characterized as jazz, but this is a long long way from Louis Armstrong, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of improvisation. Zorn himself performs only on a minority of the songs. He's more of a producer-arranger. But, even if he isn't playing the alto sax, these songs bear Zorn's unmistakeable imprint. There's an original 1985 section, and Zorn added some bonus songs in 2000.
Let's describe all the songs since the music sample is often deceptive for this CD. "The Big Gundown" aims for creepy. There are ominous piano chords, dissonant noises, and screams. The music resolves somewhat when a Brazilian percussion section begins, and ends with some Rawhide-esque "ha"'s. "Peur Sur La Ville" is built around an unsettling piano figure and noises. It has a unconventional free-jazz aura to it. "Poverty" is a quiet song based on Toots Thielman's whistling. "Milano Odeo" is a catchy, almost rock-n-roll song taken at a brisk pace. As the song goes on, the keyboards get more unsettling and the guitar gets noisier. "Erotico" has bluesy organ, and Bill Frisell's most romantic electric guitar (in an '80's way) paired with female vocalizations. "Battle Of Algiers" might be my favorite (maybe just because of the represented movies I've seen it's my favorite). Wayne Horvitz pounds out the tense piano line while sounds effects explode in the background. "Giu La Testa" has a slow build for about four minutes, then there's a plucking, walking part to take the song out. "Metamorfosi" is a good song to play when you want guests to leave, Diamanda Galas screams on top of tribal drums. "Tre Nel 5000" is credited to Zorn as a composer. To me, it sounds like a 4 1/2 minute dose of ambient noise. "Once Upon A Time In The West" starts quietly and deliberately, with feedback swelling and decaying. Robert Quine and Jody Harris play their guitars otherwise very minimalistically (not minimally, the feedback is constant). That ends the 1985 section of the CD.
The 2000 section uses an updated cast of players. "The Sicilian Clan" is familiar from the "Naked City" CD, though the instrumentation is more acoustic, and Cyro Baptista adds "western movie" percussion. "Macchie Solari" is another unsettling song. It ends in a fit of crashing piano chords and screams. "The Ballad Of Hank McCain" teams Mike Patton's heroic baritone with Jamie Saft's organ and Baptista's background congas. It's one of the more accessible songs, I wonder what it would sound like with a fuller band. The later instrumental version sounds about the same except, of course, without singing. "Svegliatti And Uccidi", with Marc Ribot and Derek Bailey on guitar-mangling duties, is a skronky blow-out. "Chi Mai", with the same musicians as "The Sicilian Clan", has a pretty melody and gentle music.
Some of these songs are very cool and original, others I can go without. Since it's a mixed bag I give it three stars. Zorn is certainly an original, and fans will want to make sure they have this one. 』
(Zorn's first masterpiece) 『One of the best albums in Zorn's catalog, "The Big Gundown" is a masterpiece augmented in this 15th anniversary edition with a number of new recordings. These are reinterpretations of Mooricone pieces (with one Zorn original) for various groups. The entire record is powerful and energetic, with breathtaking arrangements, brilliant performances, and a fire that had not been captured in Zorn's previous recordings. It is also probably his first true masterpiece.
I think in many ways, the opener and title track best illustrates the aesthetic on the record, if you don't like that one, you'll probably not care for the rest of it-- it covers a number of moods, being dark, haunting, theatrical, explosive and esoteric, sometimes all at once. This sort of theatrical mood extends across a number of songs, the haunting circular piano and percussion workout "Peur Sur la Ville" (with a blazing alto sax solo from Tim Berne), an the dark electric guitar workout take of "Once Upon a Time in the West", reduced a funereal pace.
But there are also many moments of delicate beauty as well-- take for instance "Poverty (Once Upon a Time in America)", with an unusual instrumentation of whistling, harmonica (both handled by Toots Theilman), harp and accordian. Particularly when the harmonica takes the melody, the support swells and embraces and holds on, expressing pain and loss and fear for the future. Or consider the brooding and yet someone still light "Giu la Testa (Duck You Sucker!)", building anticipation through its dark motifs and bizarre instrumentation (among others, the Japanese shamisen, english horn, acoustic guitar, gamecalls and keyboards).
The bonus tracks are no less essential-- Zorn brought in about everyone he played with for the originals, these were a chance to catch up. The amazing thing about Zorn is that as an arranger, he's lost none of his flair in the intervening years, in fact, he may have even gotten better. Zorn uses his "Bar Kokhba" sextet (the Masada String Trio augmented by guitarist Marc Ribot, drummer Joey Baron and percussionist Cyro Baptista) to great effect on breathtaking arrangements of "The Sicilian Clan" and "Chi Mai", and adds another great guitar workout feature with Ribot and Derek Bailey in a noisy, disjoint take of "Sveggliatti and Uccidi", but its Mike Patton's Tom growl on "The Ballad of Hank McCain" that is the gem of the material-- stunning delivery that really captures something special (and may be the best vocal Patton has ever done) over a delicate organ (Jamie Saft) and percussion (Baptista) backdrop that matches and perhaps outstrips the best of the original material.
This is essential music for Zorn fans, if you're not, this may well be a good place to start-- the music can be difficult, and it covers a ton of moods, but there is a lot to hear. Highly recommended.』
(Definitely a must-have Zorn album!) 『I've got about 30 Zorn albums, and this was the first I heard, back in college late during an all-nighter. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Fantastic stuff, and very weird. This is more listenable than some, but definitely not the most easy of Zorn's albums. Great treatments of some familiar pieces if you're into spaghetti westerns.
This is on my must-have list for Zorn albums.』

Though the production value isn't what I really remember, the music itself has easily stood the test of time. By far, this remains Edwin McCain's best CD, even though his bigger hits came later.
The jazz influence stands out here more than on later recordings, and it's really too bad he didn't keep that element. There's also a playful element that fits perfectly with the attitude he shows on stage.
If you're an Edwin fan that hasn't listened to this disc yet, it's an absolute must-have.』

(Not a dud on it.) 『Bit of a stretch giving it a five star rating I originally thought, but it really does deserve it. There are a couple of five-star songs on this album - America Street, and the quieter, sorrowful Sorry to a Friend, but every other one is a four starrer or very close. You won't be bothered getting up to skip any of these tracks while you're listening to Honour Among Thieves, and that makes a pretty good album as far as I'm concerned.
If you like James Taylor, Nickel Creek, The Waifs, or the quieter stuff by Garth Brooks or Lee Kernaghan, you'll be well served by adding this to your collection.』
(Great songwriting and great singing add up to a great album.) 『Ediwn McCain's songwriting really shines on this album. The tracks "Sorry to a Friend" and "Solitude" are both destined to be classics among Ediwn McCain fans. Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, he has only had a few radio hits; "I'll Be" being his most popular, and another great example of beautiful lyrics and songwriting, although on a different album.
The tracks range from bluesy folk to light rock. The lyrics are often sublime, and always intelligent. McCain's voice is like a glass of fine whiskey; edgy and smooth at the same time.
Excellent album for those looking for something accessible, yet mature and engaging.』
(The original, the best, and nearly the lost art) 『This is the album that introduced Edwin McCain to the world, and it is a wonderful amalgam of rock, blues, and jazz, featuring acoustic and electric guitars perfectly blended with saxophones and woodwinds, layered with Edwin's beautfully powerful voice. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (It's really that good.) 『I wouldn't exaggerate about something like this: I listen to a LOT of music, genres ranging from straight ahead bebop to classic Reggae (Marley, Burning Spear) to modern "indie" music (Death Cab for Cutie, The Frames). I'm well-versed in the Grateful Dead (my dad was a deadhead) and the timeless music of The Beatles. Through it all, though, there are few voices and songwriting talents that really touch me like Edwin's. I love most all of his work (I think that Honor Among Thieves is tragically underrated, seeing as most haven't even heard of it). The song I'll Be is beautiful, but the bane of Edwin's existence all the same. If you want to hear one of the most genuine, organic, and honest voices in music today, find a way to get this album. He uses his real ability and emotion to make up for the potential lack in energy from limited production and instrumentation on this album. I've SEEN him in concert, at least four times, and I'm telling you ladies and gentlemen, he's the real deal. Rarely have I seen the passion he puts out at every live show in any other act, heavy or light. I'm done gushing now, just one more thing to say: Without shame or exaggeration: I listened to this album on random as I fell asleep every single night for over a year. And I thanked my lucky stars everytime "Romeo and Juliet" came on before I drifed off. Wishing you the best.』

BTW, anyone who has been touched in ANY way by adoption... given up a child for adoption, adopted a child or even been adopted... you need this CD. Edwin was adopted at birth by an amazingly wonderful and loving family. He does not know who his birth mother is. Listen to the song, "Letter to My Mother." It will just slay you. He is writing to his adopted Mom about how much he loves HER... and yet saying there is another woman out there that he loves... thanking her for giving him LIFE. AMAZING STORY, but an even more amazing song. Also, if you are a Christian, you will LOVE "Jesus, He Loves Me." It is a sort-of combination of Jesus Loves me and the Footprints poem. You can tell by listening that this is something coming from the depths of his spirit. He wrote and performed this song on the soundtrack, "Jesus: Music From&Inspired by the Epic Mini Series." This CD is also available on Amazon.com. Compare this song with the others, and tell me which one most openly tells about Jesus and His effect on a person's life. ---

『Balladeer Edwin McCain revisits his Jurassic period with his sixth outing, eschewing modern technology to return to an almost all-acoustic format he became comfortable with while gigging in the resort town of Hilton Head, South Carolina. But this album is a little less joyful than McCain's usual offerings, as he spins tales of missed opportunities, bad timing, and failed relationships. Even his cover selections seem dour. Dire Straits' "Romeo and Juliet" never sounded so tragic, and Buddy Mondlock's "No Choice" seems brittle and hopeless. Even the previously recorded "Go Be Young" is darkened by regret, while the gritty "Let It Slide" asserts, "You know Elvis said only two things were certain: hookers and Coupe Devilles." Perhaps being dropped by his long-time label has caused McCain to view the glass as half-empty; he cautions fans on "Alive" that "life's roller coaster, it ain't got no safety bar." Some things have become scientific facts, some have been proven wrong. The only downside is the resolution. The lack of sharpness makes it look out of focus on a 42" HD display. Even using an upconverter couldn't make it look anything like a standard resolution broadcast of today. Sad.
But the content... is still a journey of wondering and expanding the "what if's" of time and space.』
(Visiting the cosmos) 『I have purchased the set as a gift to my very scientifically oriented grandson, age 14. I will again view it as he opens the disks. My memory of the broadcast was that it was a great way to understand how science works and how things have been discovered, all the way back to the Greeks. After 29 years or so much that Sagan discusses - or doesn't - has been changed by new discoveries such as dark matter, dark energy and the accelerating expansion of the universe. But don't let that stop you from the pleasure and understanding to be achieved by watching.』

(No one communicates science better) 『Though slightly dated (the original series was done in the 70's&the dvd set has updated postscripts for many of the episodes added in the late 90's), Cosmos is a great overview of Science presented by the 20th Century's best science communicator. Very highly recommended!』
(True Yesterday, True Today) 『When I was young(er)my father made "Cosmos" mandatory TV viewing. For me and my two sisters, Dr. Sagan made the universe come alive! As a teenager, my dad bought me my first telescope. Now, I just gave a telescope to my husband for his birthday, along with this series. I think I will be creating a monster!
"what do you want to be when you grow up?" Easy answer: an astronomer,of course! However, I can't do the math, being disabled in that area. Carl Sagan brought the universe into my living room and exceeded the hope I had of learning more about the cosmos- I can't wait to see this series on our big-screen TV! (anybody know CPR??)
Before his death, Dr. Sagan left us a dire warning about the folly of nuclear warfare and the resulting world-ending nuclear winter. All these years later, Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" won the Pulizer Prize, again reminding us that nuclear exchanges will result in exactly what Dr. Sagan predicted in this series. I think we'd better pay heed to both of them.
BUY THIS SERIES. It's just as relevant and breathtaking as it was in 1980, if not more so. Lest mankind get a bit to big for its' britches, take a look and see just how big the universe really is! For all our sense of self-importance, planet Earth is merely a speck upon a speck, ad litem. In "Cosmos," Dr. Sagan shows us the glory and the danger of the universe we call home.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Still My All-Time Favorite Movie) 『I first saw this movie when I was 7 years old. I'm 29 now, and it is still my all-time favorite movie. A wonderful movie about boyhood friendship and the different problems that each kid faces in his home life or in social situations. Four boys set off on a journey to find the body of a dead kid, but it's much more than that. The movie is about the camaraderie of the boys and the problems that each one faces. Chris, the leader of the gang, comes from a family with a bad reputation and therefor is labeled bad by the other people in the town. Gordie is a kid who is coping with the death of his own brother, but more than that, the lack of a relationship between him and his father. Teddy has a dad who is very abusive because he suffers mental problems from his experiences in WWII. Vern is kind of the social outcast. Certainly not one of the most popular kids in school.
Now, about some of the other reviews I have read and you may have read yourself: First of all, let me start by saying that if you're a self-esteem movement parent and can't stand curse words because they greatly offend you, stay away from this movie. This movie is very realistic. Believe it or not, 12 year-old kids swear, get over it. My friends and I swore long before that, but we never did it in front of adults. We didn't do it because we saw it in movies. We did it to act rebellious and thought it made us look older than we were, just like every other 12 year-old kid. These kids in the movie are just like any other 12 year-old boys. So do not use this movie as a scapegoat. Like I said, just get over the fact that 12 year-old boys do swear.
Second of all, this is NOT a chick flick like a couple of reviewers have said. Yes, this is not an action-packed Die Hard type movie, but that doesn't make it a chick flick. I'm a guy. All my friends like this movie, guys and girls, and none of the guys ever called it a chick flick. It's no more of a chick flick than the movie Rudy, which I have never heard of receiving that accusation. If you're that insecure in your masculinity, then please just stay away from the movie.

(Lacks The Character Development Of King's Novella) 『In the novella "The Body" written by Stephen King that this film is based upon, a group of boys set out to find a local dead body, and end up finding more out about themselves than anything. Along the way, master wordsmith King is able to develop each and every character to a point where readers can really care for or sympathize with their problems or successes.
In this film version, "Stand By Me", though, that incredible character development is lacking. I realize I am a bit "tainted", as I know what I was missing, but suffice it to say that after the novella experience, the film just seemed to lack that extra "oomph" to turn it into any sort of classic.
Of course, I probably am expecting the impossible in this situation, as director Rob Reiner likely did everything he could to develop four very different young men in the span of only 88 minutes, but just that limitation alone drags the story down a bit. Whereas King (as he is known to do) can, in a very in-depth fashion, probe the personal lives of each of his characters, Reiner is restricted to a series of flashbacks that just don't have the same emotional connection with the viewer as King does with the reader.
Now, don't get me wrong...I don't think that this is a bad film by any stretch of the word. If you have not read the novella, I think you might be inclined to give it another star in the rating column (don't expect "classic" status, though). However, if you (like I was) are looking for faces to be put to King's classic characters, locations, and themes, then you will likely be a bit disappointed, as "Stand By Me" fails to carry that mantra like some others have (including "The Shawshank Redemption", a classic movie based on a story in the same collection as "The Body").』
(Awesome!!!!) 『The movie "Stand By Me" was a film based off the novel by Stephen King known as "The Body." But for all who have seen it, you may notice it doesn't seem like the Stephen King type, I mean compare it to "The Shining" or "It," this is a family flick with an R rating. I mean don't get me wrong, it's got a lot of adult content throughout the film like Chris (River Phoenix) swiping a loaded gun from his wasted dad, Ace (Kiefer Sutherland) almost stabbing Chris in the throat, Gordie (Wil Wheaton) threating to shoot Ace with the gun, the kids smoking, most of the characters constantly muttering bad swears, you know the rest. The part that most of the viewers out there including I, made us pee our pants was the train scene which Teddy (Corey Feldman) declares "the all-time train dodge." Aw, Speaking of Teddy I love that little guy! He's not afraid of nothin', he wasn't afraid to cross an old 100 foot bridge, he wasn't afraid to dodge an on-coming train, and he almost joined the army, what an awesome dude. And Vern (Jerry O' Connell) a little chubby kid who is afraid of everything, unlike Teddy. If you must know the plot it's about 4 12 year olds who set out to find a dead body and bring it back and become heroes. The emotional scenes make you realize that they have horrible lives in a small town, and by the end, you feel glad that they get out of their town. And if I could add a new scene it would be the boys encounter a vicious animal like a wolverine or a coyote and the grab the gun and blow it away. Oh well the rest of the movie was very entertaining! The set up to when the boys find the missing corpse keeps you anticipating it. Complete with a terrific music score which you may recognize from George Lucas's classic "American Graffiti." So overall, it's a great movie, so definitely see it, if you have it. If you don't then rent it, buy it, it's worth it! RIP River Phinoex :)』

This movie has it all; great pacing, solid cast, good story, cool creature design! The CGI was a bit subpar in some of the flashback sequences, but not enough to be distracting. I would compare this movie to another underated gem by the name of Pitch Black. Sure, the sci-fi nerds are going to appreciate it, but hey... My wife liked it and she rolls her eyes whenever I suggest watching movies of this type.

(Epic Viking Sci-Fi) 『An epic mythological chopper saga but with a plausible science fiction theme. It was the SF aspect which appealed to me most; the gore, of which there is plenty, not so much. I'd have given four stars for less blood. Caviezel is at his enigmatic best. Sophia Myles is a treat, both visually and as a powerful female character. She plays the fiery daughter (Freya) of the Viking chief (ably portrayed by John Hurt) and she has any man she comes across reeling, literally. Rival chief Gunnar, played by Ron Perlman is truly terrifying in hammer-wielding battle mode and only slightly less fierce than the monster itself!
The monster is all the better and more impressive, mysterious and scary for being only glimpsed and not fully seen until well into the film. This means that it benefits from the point of view that things scary are scariest when not seen, only imagined, and from being pretty fearful when it does finally appear. Possibly making reference to the `Alien' films, in one scene a monster drips saliva from glassy fangs onto Freya's cheek. Which brings me to special effects, here used in exactly the right proportion to generate the suspense and excitement required at the right moments, without being over-used or obtrusive. More of what keeps the film moving, apart from the action, is the use of an inspiring sequence of locations: low earth orbit, desert planet landscapes, underwater, underground, and mist-shrouded forest with sunlight shafts stabbing through in anticipation of what is to follow. The SF special effects are excellent also and do a fine job of depicting an advanced civilization making a terrible error.
Plot treats include: wily norseman captures well-armed starman, using his horse; the boy with the bread; and of course, `shields'.
The film is well-paced and the entire narrative 'lavishly envisioned'. The costumes and weaponry are spot on for creating atmosphere.
Finally, the bonus features are excellent, especially the deleted scenes. Although I can understand why some of the scenes were cut to maintain the momentum, they are particularly worth watching because they add humanity and soul to the story.
A breath-taking action ride. Incredible it wasn't widely distributed at the cinema, watch it now!』

My biggest problem was when Canaan said we need stronger metal. Well viking age technology used carbon steel in their weapons. A piece of metal was recovered from Canaan's ship. To be stronger or harder than carbon steel the piece of the ship would have to be Titanium or Beryllium. Both of which have a forging temperature well beyond what a charcoal air driven forge can produce. I guess it could be some kind of space metal not yet discovered. Obviously the movie is there, it was always good quality and great 5.1 sound on the rest of the editions, and nothing has changed for this one. Now included is a whole heap of new extras.
There is an Audio Commentary from Bob Gale and Niel Canton. It is an actual commentary now, not just the Q&A audio that played to the movie, or separately as audio depending on which edition you had, that other one is still on here, but this 2nd commentary is brand new, not a re-run.
As far as I can tell, all the extras from the other editions are still here. I own a heap of copies of different releases for this movie, and I get a little confused with what was on what; but I know the American fans will be pleased that extra deleted scenes that where only viewable on the region 4 bonus disc (4th disc) are now included in this release. In particular, the full version of the scene when Doc is asked if he has a permit, and Marty wonders if he will go home gay. It's a great and funny scene.
Also included is the footage of the back to the future ride that used to be at Universal Studios. I went on that ride in 1993, and it was great to see it again. It has two videos for the ride, the first one is the video you would watch while waiting in line for the ride. It's like a news cast and security camera video telling you about Doc's 1 day ride into the future (fictional) and the second video is what you actually saw when on the ride as you chase Biff Tannin through time. Just take not that the ride itself, you sat in a 6 seat Delorean and it moved and rocked around, so it may lose some translation while your sitting on your butt.
If your not particularly interested in bonus features at all, and just watch the thing for the movie, then there is no reason to pick this version up. If you are like me, and love anything you can find of BTTF, you will enjoy this one. There are countless ridiculous scenes that you'd have to be retarded not to laugh at, like when the scientist tells Bud and Doyle not to do anything they would do at home (and then they have the flashback about shaving the dog).
Besides being funny, the movie has really hot girls. The two main characters have really good looking girlfriends (dressed extremely trashy of course) and they meet two unbelievably hot girl scientists at the Bio-Dome (one is Australian singer Kylie Minogue)

(Great book to own) 『The way this is written you feel like you are personally having a conversation with Iggy Pop, Wayne Kramer, Richard Hell, Patti Smith, David Bowie, and many more. It gives great inside perspective to the NY music scene in the 60's, 70's and 80's and is totally candid-who slept with who, who shot up what, who crossdressed, who pissed the bed... (And there is a great glossary in the back to let you know who everyone is and how they are connected to the scene, so you don't have to be a music buff). The way the interviews are put together, you would think that this is one epic interview- but it is really interviews from many different sources; taken at different times by different people, put together in a way that each artist elaborates and contributes to the story. Really cool book.』

First, this is an oral history&I love good oral history. Studs Terkel has always been a huge hero of mine&Legs McNeil is way on up there with this book.
Next, this is a wonderful collection of words&musing about the American punk scene. I particularly love that it starts with the Velvet Underground and proceeds through MC5&on to Iggy Pop - these are 3 of my favorites - then the New York Dolls&Television&The Ramones.
Having spent a lot of time with this music&its ethos this book flat does it for me.』
(Simply put, a classic) 『I just picked up my third copy of this book today. The first I got rid of during a brief 'Jesus freak' phase I went through, the second I lost after moving - hopefully, this one I will be able to keep.
While it is true that this book is limited to proto-punk (Stooges, VU, MC5) and the New York Punk scene (Patti Smith, New York Dolls, Ramones), that's what's so genius about it. A book devoted entirely to encompassing an "oral history of punk" all over the world, from the earliest origins of the "punk spirit," through to the 60s garage bands like The Sonics, the Brit punk scene, the LA Hardcore scene, modern punk, etc. would probably require several volumes.
Instead, Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain stick to a rather limited scope, but one certainly cannot say that this book suffers because of that. True, if you picked up this book to read about the Buzzcocks or the Dead Kennedys or NOFX, you're going to be disappointed. But if it is CBGB/Max's Kansas City you want, this is the book for you.
I love the "oral history" format, and Legs&Gillian do it right, with quotes and excerpts from interviews building a story, from the Velvets to the death of Johnny Thunders - and there is not a wasted quote in the bunch. Stories of drug excess and sexual exploits compete with gossip and bad-mouthing to make a fascinating book, not about the music, but about the people who MADE the music.
I must confess that I have a fascination with mid to late 70s New York decadence, so the tales make me smile, although your reaction may be that of revulsion or horror - but who cares? It's making you react and making you think, and you'll never be able to put on a Ramones or a Heartbreakers album and listen to it in the same way you did before you read this. Highly recommended.
The only complaint I have is that Legs has said he's only used 10% of the interviews he conducted in this book. I'd love to see a sequel!』 『
