(The Patch Review)

(Waited and waited)

(A DRAMIC COMEDY)

(Patch Adams is my daily inspiration!)

(A prescription for a good movie...Patch Adams!)
I really enjoy this Movie I'm glad i was able to get it. It came in good condition and there were no scratches on the disks.
I didn't receive the item till after the deadline shipment date. i was supposed to receive it by the 18th and didnt get it till later. Boo
I'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE BUT NEVER KNEW PATCH ADAMS WAS A REAL PERSON. ROBIN WILLIAMS PLAYS THIS ROLE BEAUTIFULLY. PERFECTLY PUTTING COMEDY AND DRAMA IN THE RIGHT PLACE
For me, "Patch Adams" is the best film ever to remind us all that laughter is the best medicine. It is fresh as a squirting daisy--not a cliched or sentimental moment in the script. The scene where the little children with cancer all arrive in the courtroom wearing rubber clown noses to support Patch in his hour of need is one of the most unexpected and deeply moving things you will ever see. If you don't cry at that moment, you must not be human.

I think everybody should be more like Patch. At the auto garage where I work I've used some of Patch's techniques to liven up the atmosphere-- putting an oil funnel on top of my head, wearing a fake mustache and funny eyeglasses, cracking lots of jokes. Think about it for a minute--your car breaks down, you have to sit by the roadside all afternoon in the hot sun, the tow truck costs an arm and a leg. Aren't you going to want a little comic relief while I explain how you need to have a new transmission installed? I thought so!

"Patch Adams" is more than a movie--it's a way of life!

I have fallen in love with this movie by Robin Williams. Funny moments and quite touching. He delivers an excellent performance about the life of this individual giving the joy of laughter and medicine. If you enjoy a true to life story (full of noodles and red noses), I highly recommend this!
Patch Adamsraises two schools of thought: There are those who are inspired by the true story of a troubled man who finds happiness in helping others--a man set on changing the world and who may well accomplish the task. And then there are those who feel manipulated by this feel-good story, who want to smack the young medical student every time he begins his silly antics.

Staving off suicidal thoughts, Hunter Adams commits himself into a psychiatric ward, where he not only garners the nickname "Patch," but learns the joy in helping others. To this end, he decides to go to medical school, where he clashes with the staid conventions of the establishment as he attempts to inject humor and humanity into his treatment of the patients ("We need to start treating the patient as well as the disease," he declares throughout the film). Robin Williams, in the title role, is as charming as ever, although someone should tell him to broaden his range--the ever-cheerful do-gooderà laGood Will HuntingandDead Poets Societyis getting a little old. His sidekick Truman (Daniel London) steals the show with his gawky allure and eyebrows that threaten to overtake his lean face--he seems more real, which is odd considering that Patch Adams does exist and this film is based on his life. Monica Potter is the coolly reluctant love interest, and she makes the most of her one-dimensional part. While moments of true heartfelt emotion do come through, the major flaw of this film is that the good guys are just so gosh-darn good and the bad ones are just big meanies with no character development.Patch Adams, though, does provide the tears, the giggles, and the kooky folks who will keep you smiling at the end.--Jenny Brown

(Cute, Hilarious and Precious!!!)

(Funny video)

(Add Ken Sheetz to Art Linkletter, Bill Cosby)

(Great for kids and adults!)
I will recommend this DVD to anyone who has kids! If you are looking for entertaining ways to get your kids interested in politics this DVD is a must have, you might even pick up a thing or two about this historic election yourself that you didn't know of!
This documetary is filled with humor and charm. These kids are adorable!!

Funny stuff! The candor of kids teaches us all a great deal about our society.
Add Ken Sheetz to Art Linkletter, Bill Cosby, and every other director who is able to frame things from the kid's point of view and make it interesting and hilarious. What matters to them is what matters to us. Their no-nonsense opinions and talent combined with Ken's ability to tell the story with humor and common sense, is one of the more entertaining memoirs of the exciting election season all the way up to the end!
This is a great video for the whole family! If you're looking for a way to introduce politics to your kids, or just want to laugh, you'll enjoy this video. Kids will love watching the other kids and grown-ups will laugh and be amazed at the insightful and hilarious things the kids say. Plus, you'll probably learn a few things... This is a great way to remember the historic 2008 election!
America fighting two wars, the worst economy since the Great Depression, the growing climate crisis and a failing health care system, combine to make the 2008 presidential elections the most important in U.S. history. Who better than America's future, its kids, to pick who they think will lead America to a better tomorrow?

Praise for KIDS TALK POLITICS:

"Move over 'Sixty Minutes', there's a new kid on the block-literally."

CitizenTube - Official Political Blog YouTube

"Kids get as worked up as the pundits on cable news."

- Reuters

"... just as heated as any grown-up argument over... the economy or the war in Iraq."

- The LA Times

"Sheet'z documentary shows that, contrary to popular belief, kids care a lot about politics..."

- Education Magazine

"Crazy adorable!"

- PopTub

"Making this election something of a family affair"

- KTLA News, The CW, Los Angeles

Director Ken Sheetz, who co-produced a similar documentary for PBS that aired as the lead-in to the 2000 Bush/Gore debates, takes to the road once again, traveling 9000 miles to interview over 100 Republicans and Democrats from all races and walks of life who share one thing in common, they're all kids!

Plus "A Puppy Tale of 9/11" starring Emmy&Golden Globe Winner Ed Asner. An official selection of 8 film festivals.

(Back to The Future)

(This editions review (not of the movie, of the extras))

(Great Scott!)

(let's hope there's more to come!!)

(Just one extra disc and poor widescreen)
I have Back To the Future Dvd(double disc,2nd disc with special features) I should have brought the trilogy but I got the special edition, However, I can't Complain, The Movie is awesome, I grew up to this movie as a child of the eighties, and is one of the best movies of the Era.
On this release of the great BTTF movie, you get a 2 disc edition with extra features never released on DVD, nor even on the 4 disc region 4 release.

Obviously the movie is there, it was always good quality and great 5.1 sound on the rest of the editions, and nothing has changed for this one. Now included is a whole heap of new extras.

There is an Audio Commentary from Bob Gale and Niel Canton. It is an actual commentary now, not just the Q&A audio that played to the movie, or separately as audio depending on which edition you had, that other one is still on here, but this 2nd commentary is brand new, not a re-run.

As far as I can tell, all the extras from the other editions are still here. I own a heap of copies of different releases for this movie, and I get a little confused with what was on what; but I know the American fans will be pleased that extra deleted scenes that where only viewable on the region 4 bonus disc (4th disc) are now included in this release.
In particular, the full version of the scene when Doc is asked if he has a permit, and Marty wonders if he will go home gay. It's a great and funny scene.

Also included is the footage of the back to the future ride that used to be at Universal Studios. I went on that ride in 1993, and it was great to see it again. It has two videos for the ride, the first one is the video you would watch while waiting in line for the ride. It's like a news cast and security camera video telling you about Doc's 1 day ride into the future (fictional) and the second video is what you actually saw when on the ride as you chase Biff Tannin through time. Just take not that the ride itself, you sat in a 6 seat Delorean and it moved and rocked around, so it may lose some translation while your sitting on your butt.

If your not particularly interested in bonus features at all, and just watch the thing for the movie, then there is no reason to pick this version up. If you are like me, and love anything you can find of BTTF, you will enjoy this one. It's not just another cash-in release, it does actually have brand new features to enjoy.

In 1985, Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) asks Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), a high school teenager, to meet him at the local mall for a late night science experiment. When Marty shows up, he sees Doc backing a Delorean out from a van. But this just isn't any Delorean. This Delorean has been modified into a time machine. As Doc begins to explain how it all works, a group of terrorists that Doc stole some uranium from, show up and begin to wreak havoc. Marty jumps in the car and floors it after witnessing Doc getting shot. But as soon as Marty hits the magic number of 88mph, he is shot back in time to 1955. While trying to figure out how to get back to 1985, he screws up the first time his parents meet, which begins the slow cycle of his brother, his sister, and even himself to slowly fade away from existence. Marty must figure out a way to get the time machine to work again and also somehow get his popular mom to fall in love with is geeky father so he can get back to the future.

Talk about a movie that just never gets old. Almost all the laughs are still funny. From the barn scene, to the first time Marty meets his mom as a teenager, to the skateboarding/poop scene. Back to the Future really is just a very fun movie. I think I was smiling almost through the whole thing and I've had to have seen this movie over 20 times by now. I think almost everyone has wished they could go back in time, but who really thinks about going back to hang with their parents. After seeing this movie, it might really be fun to do just that. We know Marty's mom preaches about how girls shouldn't chase guys and things, but when we see her at a younger age, she is doing exactly what she forbids her own children from doing. And when he comes across his dad, he finds out things that he never knew his dad was interested in. And then of course we have Doc Brown, who Christopher Lloyd played perfectly. His antics, and screams, facial expressions, and over the topness were done just right. What a great character. And Michael J. Fox also plays Marty McFly just right to. To think that Eric Stoltz almost played Marty McFly. Thankfully the director thought he just didn't fit the part and refilmed it with Fox.

Honestly, I could go on and on and on about this movie and just tell the whole story. But what fun would that be. Just own this movie.

P.S. - I love watching old 80's flicks and seeing all the stuff that was cool back then. Also I really like seeing old advertisements or signs. Like the Pepsi symbol back then. Classic stuff.

I've always been a "sucker" for packaging; with most things, it's kind of illogical, like groceries, that you (ideally) shouldn't even be looking at more than 6 (brief) times a day...but with entertainment items, I, for one, who values entertainment highly, think the packaging is important, b/c, face it: you're not gonna spend the majority of the time in which you own the item(s) actually USING them/it are you? Heck no! So that's where the pkging comes in handy, if you have your music/movies/books/whatever displayed prominently like I do and can/do look at them once in a while or more often...
Sad to say though that sometime around 1997 or so, it seems, the packaging for movies has become EXTREMELY lame; I mean, for cryin' out loud, you can barely tell one movie apart from the next! You have to actually read the synopsis for each and every film that comes out in order to have ANY interest in it. But why would I, or anyone, read a synopsis for a movie that I'm not already interested in?
Well, anyway; BTTF spent the longest time not available to purchase on its own, which to me was a drawback for buying ANY of the Back To The Future movies. I liked the imagery in BTTFpt1, the mall parking lot setting especially, and the 2nd one I actually haven't seen in ages, but the 3rd one, if I understand correctly, took place in the desert mostly, which is the most boring setting I can think of.
I actually emailed Universal about 5 years ago, asking them when/if they re-release Halloween II and/or An American Tail to restore the original cover-art. Well, they apparently haven't even re-issued those two movies, but I guess we're finally starting to see eye to eye...well, I sorta doubt it, but I can dream can't I?

I'm not very happy at this item.

First off, they say its wide screen. Well, instead of seeing what was cut off along the sides, they blew the original picture up so that it now cuts off what's on the top and bottoms.

There's no extra stuff on Disc 1, not even the Cigarette Commercial, and disc 2 is okay, but still this wasn't what I expected.

Dr. Emmett Brown: Then tell me, "future boy," who is president in the United States in 1985?
Marty McFly: Ronald Reagan.
Dr. Brown: Ronald Reagan? The actor?! Who's vice president? Jerry Lewis?

Filmmaker Robert Zemeckis topped his breakaway hitRomancing the Stonewith this joyous comedy with a dazzling hook: what would it be like to meet your parents in their youth? Billed as a special-effects comedy, the imaginative film (the top box-office smash of 1985) has staying power because of the heart behind Zemeckis and Bob Gale's script. High schooler Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox, during the height of his TV success) is catapulted back to the '50s where he sees his parents in their teens, and accidentally changes the history of how Mom and Dad met. Filled with the humorous ideology of the '50s, filtered through the knowledge of the '80s (actor Ronald Reagan is president, ha!), the film comes off as aTwilight Zoneepisode written by Preston Sturges. Filled with memorable effects and two wonderfully off-key, perfectly cast performances: Christopher Lloyd as the crazy scientist who builds the time machine (a DeLorean luxury car) and Crispin Glover as Marty's geeky dad. Followed by two sequels.--Doug Thomas

(Sarah Palin Effect)

(The material stinks so it is unwearable)
We bought this Sarah Palin mask to cover up a dummy we were using for a Breast Exam with the students.. We need a female face mask and her named appeared.

The effect didn't turn out so well, some got offended and other didn't care. Overall, the latex rubber was a bit too big. It had too much of a cartoon look.

My friend said it smells like moldy balls. He meant rubber balls but it still made me laugh. But it stinks. I wouldn't give it to my dog to chew because I was afraid of what it might be made of.

Regardless, the item is not worth it. You'd be better off going with the Sash and Glasses costume if you want to be Sarah Palin.

Transform to Sarah Palin with a Sarah Palin Deluxe Mask. One Size Fits Most Adults. Mask is latex.

(Fast rubber bands and very clever repartee ...)

(A workmanlike effort that lacks punch.)

(Fun in the Fifties)
Ed Gorman's McCain series scores the biggest hit with this reader (so far) with this little gem that features some of the best dialogue exchanges in recent memory. I laughed out loud twice on the ferry when McCain was having at it with his nemesis (Sheriff Sykes) and then again with his boss, the hot, hard drinking, very class conscious, conservative, name dropping, judge (who shoots a mean rubber band and is McCain's boss). The characters in Gorman's Black Falls are wonderful and so is the repartee throughout each book. I thought this was the most fun to read so far (I'm 3 books in now) and look forward to the rest of the series.

We all need to READ amici ... so get to it ... you won't be disappointed with this series. It's a lot of fun.

This murder mystery contains all the necessary elements. A clever, likeable investigator who does double duty as narrator. A clearly delineated sense of time and place. An intriguing murder with a number of potential suspects. And a surprise ending which, if not entirely convincing, is at least plausible on some level.
Sam McCain is a 23 year old private eye who also happens to be a lawyer. He loves the small Iowa town in which he grew up and where he still lives. Almost everyone is fond of Sam and his only discernible vice is that he smokes too much. When a woman's body is found in the trunk of an Edsel, Sam is pressed into service to find the killer. As the investigation unfolds, there are many scenes which serve to evoke the feel of life in smalltown America in the 1950s. Moreover, author Ed Gorman gives us a fair amount of good natured humor and the occasional moment of poignancy.
For me, two words sum up the mood of this novel, breezy and nostalgic. Gorman has done a competent, workmanlike job in writing this book. Somehow though, after turning the last page, I felt vaguely unsatisfied. It was as if I had completed a tasty meal and still felt just as hungry as I was when I started. Or as the precocious Sam McCain might have put it, "I guess nostalgia isn't what it used to be".

What could be better than life in Black River Falls, Iowa on a September Saturday in 1957? The new car of the future, the Edsel, is being introduced to the town at the local Ford dealership and there's balloons, hog callers and marching bands, baton twirlers, cub scouts and tap-dancing twins. Unfortunately, there's also the dead body of Susan Squires in the trunk of one of the new Edsels. Sam McCain, a young lawyer who's earning most of his income with his private investigator's license, is asked to look into the murder. In no time, he's got way too many suspects, among them the victim's husband, David. But, soon David turns up dead too and McCain's highschool honey, Mary, goes missing and Sam sets out on a mission to solve the case and find his sweetheart, before it's too late..... Ed Gorman has written an entertaining mystery that will transport you back to those nostalgic days of the 1950s. His writing is crisp and smart and full of witty and irreverent dialogue; his plot, tense and full of surprises and his scenes, vivid and at times, laugh-out loud funny. But it's Mr Gorman's characters that are the real strength of this novel. From the brandy sipping, cigarette smoking, rubberband shooting judge to the fat, bully of a sherriff with a skin condition, who only got the job because his father runs the town, to McCain's best friend, Jeff who's backing out of his engagement because his fiance might not be a virgin, this is a cast of unrivaled, quirky denizens you won't soon forget. Wake Up Little Susie is the second book of a terrific new series, full of small town detail and 1950's wisdom, that shouldn't be missed.
Filled with "joyously precise period detail" (Kirkus Reviews), this new Sam McCain mystery brings readers back to 1950s Iowa, as the Ford Edsel is unveiled-and a body is found in the trunk of one of the brand-new cars.
