Through his music here, a wasteland of humanity is brought vividly and starkly to the fore and unflinchingly examined, not in itself within the context of tragedy, but rather as something intrinsically, and disturbingly, horrific, and, as if a form of violence to the psyche. Here again, Morricone's music is highly effective at confronting you with impulses that are simultaneously seductively indulgent, and yet, self-destructive. A surprisingly powerful and intoxicating mix - possibly not really recommended for those who can least afford to indulge. Yet, Morricone may well be provoking us all to consider the question: if we are, each one of us, on at least some level, vulnerable to succumbing to those dark impulses ourselves, what impact does this awareness we're newly confronted with have on our own sense of humanity? Can we sympathize with the characters involved, or do we recoil? With each track, his question seems to remain open. There are similar forays into other genres on this disc, like horror, as well. I've heard Avant Garde before, and much of it (Jazz) is sooo intellectually refined, you almost have 'to see it in terms of numbers' before you 'get it'. The impact of Morricone's vision, however, is immediate. It hits you full-force and is gut-wrenchingly direct. This guy is a master of many genres of film music, but he was a driving force - make that a singular powerhouse - in pushing the envelope and defining (and in some ways, redefining) this area of musical thought and expression - not the least remarkable thing about which, is the fact that his dark and uninhibited vision, as presented here, is surely as striking now as it ever was, even after some 35 years. Perhaps an "aquired taste", but for any fan of Morricone, psychedelia, experimental music or simply those searching for something different, this CD is NOT to be missed.』
(challenging work from a master) 『Ennio Morricone is a true musical genius, most widely known for his work for Sergio Leone's "spaghetti westerns" but the breadth of his work is far reaching. Often incorporating twentieth century compositional techniques and challenging vocal arrangements. This collection deserves a full five stars, not the paltry and ungenerous three. Branch out into the unsettling with a true master.』
(What's Essential About This?) 『A sticker on the jewel case proclaims Crime and Dissonance "an absolutely essential Morriconography". A couple of listens had me wondering what is so essential about this? Unfortunately, essential is an abused term when it comes to describing music. This might be said to be essential if you are a Morricone completeist, but when you compare the quality of the music here with that of some of his other compositions, you'll find that Crime and Dissonance is rather easily dispensible. Is the music here unusual? Quite. But the question must be asked why anyone would sit around and just listen to it. This stuff belongs in a movie. Unlike many other Morricone compositions, the pieces here do not fit with any kind of mood you might have except that generated while you are watching a film. I know a lot of folks with broad musical tastes, but I don't know of anyone who would listen to this CD just for pleasure or even for background music unless one was operating a commercial haunted house or having some kind of themed party. There's too much other better Morricone music out there! I like Ennio Morricone and I am sure these pieces fit in the contexts for which they were intended, but I could have gone on quite happily without ever having heard Crime and Dissonance.』
(Pros and Cons..) 『Pros: Ennio Morricone was a terrific experimental composer. This music is Wierd.
Cons: Kind of wierd combination of songs.. a lot of them don't feel like they should be on the same album.』
(Love Morricone, hate this collection) 『It's as if they took the most obnoxious parts they could find, and memorialized them.
Morricone is the master. But this collection misrepresents his genius.
I guess the Dissonance part in the title excuses all.』 『Finally, the listening public is treated to a Morricone compilation that focuses on his more daring, outre, and lesser known score music. Nothing against his better-known spaghetti western soundtrack work; there is a reason after all that stuff is so well known, because it's fantastic and wholly original. But did you know the dude scored more films than any other composer (over 500), that his discography is twice that of Sun Ra, that he made amazing psychedelia and crazy funk and subtle experimental music? Assembled by the brilliant musician/ musical curator Alan Bishop for Mike Patton's Ipecac label with liner notes by John Zorn, the aptly titledCrime and Dissonanceis culled from extremely rare releases from the early `70s. It's strange stuff, but very enjoyable and easily among the finest and most necessary reissues of the entire year.--Mike McGonigal』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (No Patch about it) 『Any rating under 5 stars is a tragedy. This movie is absolutely wonderful in many many ways. (What a movie should be) 『This is one of those movies that I kept wanting to watch, but never got around to it. With the long holiday weekend, my family decided that watching this would be a good way to spend part of the time.
I loved it! Patch Adams is a fascinating character and the story is wonderful. Robin Williams is at his best -- not too over-the-top but absolutely hysterical at times. I was laughing out loud in parts and very deeply touched in others. What more can one say about a movie?
I also have to say that Monica Potter is great in this. The camera loves her and she can really, really act.
A great movie that runs the full range of emotion -- terrific!』

Monica Potter is the coolly reluctant love interest, and she makes the most of her one-dimensional part. While moments of true heartfelt emotion do come through, the major flaw of this film is that the good guys are just so gosh-darn good and the bad ones are just big meanies with no character development.Patch Adams, though, does provide the tears, the giggles, and the kooky folks who will keep you smiling at the end.--Jenny Brown』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (What would I do?) 『I love this movie! A woman who's putting her life together thinks she sees her daughter in the mall where she works, but the little girl supposedly died a year ago. Is she crazy? Is her little girl alive? This movie has twists and turns and you'll want to watch it again!』
(Hokey yet fun) 『"The Lookalike"is very much an early '90s made for TV movie. The ending couldn't be more obvious...but as the film makes it way towards said ending, it takes viewers on a fairly enjoyable ride.
Gina is a young, unstable mother who recently lost her daughter in a car wreck. She is staying with her parents and attending counseling to try and get over the loss. After she gets a new job at the mall, she begins seeing a little girl who looks JUST LIKE her dead daughter. From there, the mystery takes off. And on top of that, Gina begins to have strange dreams, which may or may not have to do with memories tying into the death of her little girl. Not helping matters is the fact that her boss, a dashing yet mysterious Greek American, puts the idea into her head that she is really seeing a"doppelganger"...and if she gets too close, she'll be obiterated and her"double"will walk away.
The ending is anti-climatic and viewers will probably figure it out halfway through, but the suspense is fairly thick and the acting is pretty good.』
(Neat Little Mystery) 『"The Lookalike"is one of those neat little mysteries that keep you guessing until the very end - and that's a difficult achievement in this day of so many movies with almost every plot imaginable having been seen.
Melissa Gilbert, as always, gives an under-stated performance that makes a viewer be on her character's side and want her to solve the mystery.
Even though this is a mystery, and not horror, it does have some eerie moments, and is well worth the watching.』
(An emotional thriller) 『This is one of the best movies to come along that I would describe as an emotional thriller.
There is so much emotion in the mothers search for her dead daughter, she knows she not seeing things, but how do you begin to convince others that you are not crazy. The process can make you insane.
When the woman finds out that her"mother"actually killed her real mother the emotion of pity comes into play with very stong emotions of hate.
Plus you have the wonderful character of the boss in the department store who doesn't help matters by creating a manaquin of Gina.
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Funny, but old movie.) 『I ordered this movie because my husband had LOVED it as a child. When we watched it though, it just wasn't quite as good as he'd remebered of course. Lol. It's a funny movie, but just can't compete with the humor of today's comedies.』
(Disappointed) 『I enjoyed Pauly Shore in Son-in-Law, but I didn't enjoy him as much in this film.』
(So Idiotic. So Fun.) 『Lord help me, but I thought this movie was pretty hysterical in it's stupidity. Joey Adams was as always, great. Who can resist a Baldwin in rasta rolls? Not me. Definately get this for parties. Parties where everyone is drinking too much and wanting some stupid fun. Oh, Bonus: Kylie Minogue. Come on...you can't pass that up!』
(Shave Poochy Poochy) 『I'm not a big fan of Pauly Shore but I loved this movie. It is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. There are countless ridiculous scenes that you'd have to be retarded not to laugh at, like when the scientist tells Bud and Doyle not to do anything they would do at home (and then they have the flashback about shaving the dog).
Besides being funny, the movie has really hot girls. The two main characters have really good looking girlfriends (dressed extremely trashy of course) and they meet two unbelievably hot girl scientists at the Bio-Dome (one is Australian singer Kylie Minogue)
This is definitely a movie you either hate or love. If you're into serious movies or dramas I definitely would not recommend this.』

(Awesome Movie!) 『I'll say up front that this movie has a lot of profanity in it, but it paints such an amazing picture of the kind of crappy situations that kids go through at highschool that the foul language is to be expected. The bad guy is evil, the good guy is misunderstood, and the female protagonist is a rebel. There's a lot of 80's dancing and styles, but this movie is still applicable to youth today.
This film teaches well the lesson of what to do when there is an unjust rule governing your society. This movie should not encourage rebellion, although if your child is not very bright then you might consider that as good reason to restrict this movie from them.』
(GREAT MOVIE BUT A BIT GRAINY) 『Not up to HD standards but still loved and enjoyed the film.. if your a fan go and get it just dont expect the graphics and sound to blow you away..』 『Director Herbert Ross (The Turning Point) pulled a winning movie out of this almost self-consciously archetypal tale of teenage rock rebellion. Kevin Bacon stars as a hip city kid who ends up in a Bible-belt town after his parents divorce. An ill fit for a conservative community where rock is frowned upon and dancing is forbidden, Bacon's character rallies the kids and takes on the establishment. Between a good cast really embracing the drama of Dean Pitchford's screenplay, and Ross's imaginative, highly charged way of shooting the dance numbers, you can get lost in this all-ages confection, and you won't even mind Kenny Loggins's bubbly pop. Bonuses include one of John Lithgow's best performances (a bit reminiscent of Jimmy Stewart), and Christopher Penn (who sure doesn't look the same anymore) as a good-natured hick who learns to boogie.--Tom Keogh』

Worth purchasing to view how these boys really did suffer, hopefully we may never forget.』
(COMMUNISM WAS EVIL, EVIL, EVIL) 『One lonely conservative voice has been trying to shout out from the "wilderness" for years. Lionel Chetwynd is a writer/producer who made "The Hanoi Hilton", which actually described the North Vietnamese as the evil torturers they were. The "Hilton" was the moniker given the infamous prison camp where American POW's were kept while Jane Fonda was flirting with our enemies. Liberal film reviewers criticized it. Do not believe them. It is good stuff.』
(Politics?) 『I remember watching this film when it first came out about 20 years ago. It was a powerful film about a group of people who have never really been honored for the sacrifices they endured for their country. The political agenda driving Hollywood made it into a small film that not many people got a chance to see. It seems like nothing much has changed in 20 years. Why is this film only going to be made available on November 11th? Does it have anything to do with the fact that there is an election going to happen in this country the week previous to that? Perhaps the powers that be don't want Americans to see a powerful representation of the experiences of one of the candidates. Especially if that candidate is the one that Hollywood has aligned itself against. I find it hard to believe that there is no stock of this product anywhere that can be tapped before November 11th. Way to go Amazon.』
(God came here) 『This is a testament of everything that is good, great, heroic, of our country and God.
These POW's are saints and patriots. I am proud to call them my inspiration.
GBU, flyer!』
(Why Isn't This on DVD?) 『Although not perfect, this remains one of the most powerful films about the Vietnam War ever made, and unlike most postwar movies, it provides an unflinching look at the evil of the North Vietnamese and their Soviet (and other Communist bloc) allies, which may be why it's not out on DVD. When you think of all of the mindlessly fawning portrayals of the monsters of the left (Che Guevara comes to mind in the Motorcycle Diaries, or John Reed, in Reds), is it too much to ask that a movie that shows the other side of them (the side that butchered 100 million people over the course of the last century) be made available?』 『Studio: Warner Home Video Release Date: 11/11/2008 Run time: 128 minutes Rating: R』 『Based on interviews conducted with more than 100 former prisoners of war,The Hanoi Hiltoncaptures the brutal and tedious life in a prison camp during the Vietnam War. Though released around the same time asPlatoonandFull Metal Jacket,The Hanoi Hiltondidn't have the same impact, partly because it was an independent film and couldn't afford the same production values, but also because its perspective was much narrower. This movie avoids grappling with the larger questions of the Vietnam War, instead throwing its support whole-heartedly behind the P.O.W.s and veering into jingoism as a result. (When a Cuban officer arrives to assist the Viet Cong, his wickedness is so swaggering he comes across as the villain in a cheesy melodrama.) But when the movie focuses on the decency and suffering of the men themselves, its compassion and outrage are undeniable, and the performances--particularly that of Michael Moriarty (Law&Order)--are moving. An interview with Senator John McCain, a former P.O.W. himself, accompanies the film; this was conducted while he was running for president and feels, regrettably, like little more than a promotional effort for his candidacy. The men in the film deserve a more candid and searching discussion of their struggles.--Bret Fetzer』

Publisher Broadway Books Pp 349 Photos
The Epic Story of America's Most Legendary Warship Intrepid by Bill White and Robert Gandt is a very comprehensive history of a the aircraft carrier Intrepid. I reside within fifteen miles of the Intrepid and have visited her many times. I know of the history of the Intrepid, but the book made me realize how little I actually knew of the legendary aircraft carrier. I was aware she served in WW II in the Pacific and Senator John McCain was a pilot aboard her during the war in Vietnam. Also, during the dark days of September 11, 2001 she served as a command post. As a soldier, I am always amazed something so big can float and then be able to launch combat planes. The book begins with her actions in WW II and describes in detail the combat the Intrepid participated in and the kamazike attacks the ship withstood. The Intrepid WW II actions are very impressive by it and that alone would make an interesting book. The Intrepid was one of the few fortunate aircraft carriers to be selected to be refit after World War II. After the Vietnam War, the Intrepid assisted NASA by recovering astronauts from the Atlantic Ocean. Later the Navy would decommissioned her and but decided to bring her out of mothballs and recommission her for continued service. The authors Bill White and Robert Gandt go into detail about the changes to the Intrepid. September 11, 2001 the Intrepid served as a command post for the United States Government as much of their office space was destroyed in the World Trade Center. The Intrepid to this day has a mission to support New York City in times of crisis. This is an incredible feat as this ship is over 60 years old and with the new refit by the Intrepid Foundation she will continue to welcome people aboard her decks. One of the chapters, I found extremely interesting is how the Intrepid came to New York and became a museum. The founders gave much of their own money to preserve the Intrepid. The process of bring a war ship to a city is daunting as well as expensive. The authors make the reader really appreciate the scarf ice and vision to bring the Intrepid to New York. I enjoyed the book and if you have time read the book and if you in New York make sure you visit the Fighting I on the Hudson River in New York City.

(From a former ship's crew member.) 『White has done a fine job in this book. I was a plane captain assigned to a Corsair along with one of his interviewees, Felix Novelli, also a plane captain of a Corsair. White has obviously done much research, and accurately so. His descriptions of battles with the kamikazes are quite realistic and bring back many memories, frightfully so. White cites Novelli's witnessing the attack on the Franklin. I, too, witnessed this. I was in the chow line on the port side when the attack occurred. I saw the plane and witnessed 27 explosions before turning away. I simply could not bear to watch any more. One point in the book that I question, and it is minor. But, I do have to admit that my memory of the April 16 attack is somewhat vague, but it seems that the two kamikazes attacked from on high off the starboard side rather than from low astern as White describes. I do have to admit to being very busy at this time, however, since my battle station was a 40mm quad tub on the port side just aft of the elevator where the suicider struck. I was quite busy handling ammo at that moment and 63 years have taken a toll on my memory. Nevertheless, the book is a fine representation of the "Mighty I" and what she went through while I was on board. I highly recommend this book for WWII buffs and any others interested in the history of aircraft carriers of that period.』
(A True Story to Remember) 『I grew up around the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the stories and history of of the US Navys warships were an important part of my youth. One of the often told stories were about the Intrepid and its brave sailors and marines. This book highlights the long and extremely interesting and history full life of one our Navy's ships, a great read and great history for us all. PS come visit it in new York City.』
(The Intrepid) 『I thought this was a great book It's great to read an author who knows his subject.』
(A gripping tale of the Grand Old Lady of the high seas) 『This fascinating story of the beloved aircraft carrier, the USS INTREPID, and the valiant men who served her so bravely is a must-read for all who would savor a true-to-life account of heroism in the service of our country. The book was written by Bill White, President of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, in collaboration with Robert Gandt, a former US Navy aircraft carrier pilot, whose inimitable style never ceases to capture the hearts and minds of his readers.
Commissioned in 1943 as Navy CV-11, the Essex Class INTREPID fought long and hard throughout the Pacific Theater of World War II before finally sailing in victory beneath the Golden Gate Bridge in 1947 to her well-deserved resting place in San Francisco. Her battles had been fierce. Many innocent lives had been sacrificed aboard the ship and in the air to the Japanese Imperial Navy and savage kamikaze attacks.
Refurbished in the mid-1950s, the Intrepid was recommissioned and returned to the high seas where she played a major role as a recovery ship for America's space program. In the 1960s, she went on to see three tours of duty in Vietnam earning many much-coveted commendations. After extensive modernization in 1972 she, once again, entered the fray and began two years of Cold War duty in the Mediterranean with multi-mission capabilities -including nuclear strike deterrence- before sailing to Quonset, Rhode Island under her own power only to be ignominiously towed to what was to have been her final resting place in Philadelphia.
Life began anew, however, when in 1982 she was resurrected and transferred by a Special Act of Congress to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City along the placid banks of the Hudson River in Manhattan. There she would also proudly serve as a temporary emergency center headquarters for the FBI following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Most recently, she has undergone extensive renovations and remains a treasured National Historic Landmark for all to visit and bask in her glorious history.
Having read the book with immense interest, the Intrepid and her museum are now at the very top of my own personal "bucket list". The book is a story well-told and much appreciated. 』 『
The first official history of the legendary aircraft carrier that fought in World War II and Vietnam and continues to serve as a major air and space museum in New York City
The USSIntrepidis a warship unlike any other. Since her launching in 1943, the 27,000-ton,Essex-class aircraft carrier has sailed into harmâs way around the globe. During World War II, she fought her way across the PacificâKwajalein, Truk, Peleliu, Formosa, the Philippines, Okinawaâsurviving kamikaze and torpedo attacks and covering herself with glory. The famous ship endured to become a Cold War attack carrier, recoveryship for Americaâs first astronauts, and a three-tour combatant in Vietnam. Â In a riveting narrative based on archival research and interviews with surviving crewmen, authors Bill White and Robert Gandt take us inside the war in the Pacific. We joinIntrepidâs airmen at the Battle of Leyte Gulf, in October 1944, as they gaze in awe at the apparitions beneath them: five Japanese battleships, including the dreadnoughtsYamatoandMusashi, plus a fleet of heavily armored cruisers and destroyers. The sky fills with multihued bursts of anti-aircraft fire. The flak, a Helldiver pilot would write in his action report,âwas so thick you could get out and walk on it.â Half a dozenIntrepidaircraft are blown from the sky, but they sink theMusashi.A few months later, off Okinawa, theyagain meet her sister ship, the mightyYamato. In a two-hour tableau of hellfire and towering explosions,Intrepidâs warplanes help send the super-battleship and 3,000 Japanese crewmen to the bottom of the sea.
Weâre next to nineteen-year-old Alonzo Swann in Gun Tub 10 aboardIntrepidas he peers over the breech of a 20-mm anti-aircraft gun. Heâs heard of kamikazes, but until today heâs never seen one. Swann and his fellow gunners are among the few African Americans assigned to combat duty in the U.S. Navy of 1944. Blazing away at the diving Japanese Zero, Swann realizes with a dreadful certainty where it will strike: directly into Gun Tub 10.
The authors followIntrepidâsjourney to Vietnam.âMiG-21 high!â crackles the voice of Lt. Tony Nargi in his F-8 Crusader. It is 1968, andIntrepidis again at war. Launching from Yankee Station in the Tonkin Gulf, Nargi and his wingman have intercepted a flight of Russian-built supersonic fighters. Minutes later, after a swirling dogfight over North Vietnam, NargiâandIntrepidâhave added another downed enemy airplane to their credit.
Intrepid: The Epic Story of Americaâs Most Legendary Warshipbrings a renowned ship to life in a stirring tribute complete with the personal recollections of those who served aboard her, dramatic photographs, time lines, maps, and vivid descriptions ofIntrepidâs deadly conflicts. More than a numbers-and-dates narrative,Intrepidis the story of peopleâthose who sailed in her, fought to keep her alive, perished in her defenseâand powerfully captures the human element in this saga of American heroism.
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Product in review) 『The product was in excellent condition when I got it, actually it look like it hadn't been touched, it looked brand new. Need I say, "I was surprized". This is the kind of people I like doing business with.』
(Funny, sad, infuriating) 『This isn't just a musical history. It's a great story. I've read it repeatedly, and it evokes the whole range of emotions. Some of the stories are hilarious. Others left me horribly sad, often mourning the loss of some of rock's great musicians. Others made me angry, hating many of the people whose music I grew up loving. I don't think I came out admiring any of these people. In fact, the book made me glad that some of them are dead. David Bowie, the married man who slept with teenagers. Patti Smith, the self-hating woman who put down other women every time she got a chance. And what do you say about Johnny Thunders? Not much that's good. I did come out remembering how much I love the music, though, and I had a few laughs along the way.』
(First Book On Punk I Ever Read.) 『This is going to be short and sweet...like me. I read this book at the ripe age of 12. I was just getting into The Ramones and this book is just fantastic. I was just getting into Punk back then but I beleive that this is a good book for even people that know a lot about good Punk music and the history of it. I reread this book just a few months ago. Its defenently worth a read, or reread!』
(THE definitive primer on NY punk) 『Sometime in the late 1960's, a bad mojo was beginning to well up within the ranks of the flower power movement. There were quite a few disaffected outsiders that seemed to have figured out that the revolution was not destined to last, that it was in fact quickly becoming a sham. As corporate America began to swallow and repackage the 60's, some of the folks left behind by the peace and love generation began to vent their anger and shape a new vision. Proto-punk bands like the MC5 and The Stooges started to build upon the foundation that had been laid by the Velvet Underground. Their music was raw and violent in it's presentation, sonically threadbare and unpretentious. By the mid-1970's, a true scene began to happen in New York City that would serve to galvanize and give a true voice to this disaffected generation, a scene that would take it's cues directly from the violent and sleazy underground that it dwelled in.
Co-author Legs McNeil was a founding member of the seminal fanzine that helped give the nascent scene it's name and identity. "Punk" magazine was truly a groundbreaker, giving vital press to bands who would have otherwise gotten precious little exposure in the mainstream rock fanzines. Punk, of course, was much more than just a musical movement. In fact, the original punks were much more about living the lifestyle, living the nihilism that permeated their everyday lives. The music was just a conduit through which they expressed their dissatisfaction and aggression, it reflected what they were actually experiencing on the street.
"Please Kill Me" covers New York punk from it's birth in the mid-60's at Andy Warhol's Factory all the way to it's eventual death in the late-70's, as corporate America once again begins to catch the wave and numerous members of the original first wave of punk begin to burn out from the excessive and dangerous lifestyles that they embraced. McNeil and co-author Gillian McCain present their material in the form of interviews with a vast number of the people who were there on the front lines, experiencing and inventing the punk scene as it developed. Johnny Thunders, Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, The Ramones, Richard Hell, Danny Fields....they are all heard from here along with a host of groupies, drug dealers, hookers, agents and managers, club owners, and other scene hangers-on.
Overall, it's a great book, and the interview format really works well. The book is worth it's price just on the strength of the Iggy stories alone, but there's a ton of great source material here covering a lot of ground. it's a weighty tome at 500+ pages, but it reads fast and the stories never drag. I might have wished for a slightly larger photo section, but that's a minor gripe at best.
Readers must make note that this book covers primarily the development of 1970's-era New York punk, with a side detour to England to witness the birth of the Sex Pistols and British punk. (Though the Stooges and the MC5 are profiled extensively, giving voice to the seminal Detriot scene.)
Punk did indeed die at the end of the 70's, and it has of course been resurrected and reinvented by succeeding generations. But if you want to know where the whole thing began, you have to get this book.
HIGHLY recommended!』
(Punk Rock 101) 『If you want to know where punk all started read this book. I first read it in high school, I had seen it at the library and thought it might be interesting. It's way more thatn interesting, I was a total novice when it came to punk music, and after reading it I became the know-it-all of punk rock history. I was calling out all the punks in my school who worshipped The Sex Pistols and the Clash. I did a research paper on Punk rock and this book was my major source. My only criticisim is it's mostly east coast or N.Y. punk. And there's no mention of the no-wave movement that came afterwards with bands like James Chance and the Contortions, and Teenage Jesus. Suicide isn't mentioned either. However there are other books that cover the different waves of punk, like American Hardcore for the hardcore/nazi punk, I've got the Neutron Bomb, I believe is the title that covers the L.A. scene, which is allright but a little shortsided, I think Lexicon Devil: the Rise and Fall of Darby Crash and the Germs, is a more indepth look at L.A. punk. Besides all that if you haven't read this book it's a must if you're a fan of punk rock, not only a read you must own it.』 『Though Britain's notorious Sex Pistols shoved punk rock into the face of mainstream America, the movement was already brewing in the U.S. in the 1960s with bands like the Velvet Underground and Iggy and the Stooges. Through hundreds of interviews with forgotten bands as well as the ones that made names for themselves--including Blondie and the Ramones--Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain chronicle punk rock history through the people who really lived it.Please Kill Meis a thrash down memory lane for those hip to punk's early years and an enlightening history lesson for youngsters interested in the origins of modern "alternative" music.』 『A star-studded cast of characters, artists, underground reporters, and entrepreneurial groupies give first-hand backstage accounts of the drugs, sex, and power struggles that permeate the punk community to chronicle the emergence of punk music in New York's underground. 25,000 first printing. Tour.』
