We've begun reserving it for that special time of day when mama is about ready to pull her hair out. It's the only thing he'll sit still long enough to watch. When he hears the theme song, he comes running from where ever he is and immediately sits down. I'm pretty sure if I ever met these men face to face, I'd kiss them all.
The music is fresh and exciting, they don't talk down to the children, and the stories are adorable. I would buy it all over again.』
(Best kid's show by far) 『As a parent of two speech-delayed boys (now age three), I cannot stress enough how wonderful this program is. Our twins were diagnosed with undifferentiated speech delay - meaning there was no physical reason for them not to speak, they just didn't like talking. In fact, they paid very little attention to speech. Until they saw the movers, and began dancing from the moment the first notes hit the air. Soon afterward, they began approximating words in the songs and are now able to sing a few lines here and there. Obviously, there was more to it than just watching the Movers, but I believe the high-energy and engaging music helped these boys build a bridge from hearing music to using words.
The program is aimed at toddlers. Each program revolves around a central problem, called an "idea emergency." The movers then try several ideas to solve it. The role modeling here is fantastic. Not only does each member come up with an idea, but they are all treated respectfully and tried out and, if they don't work, they are encouraged to keep trying. "There's no bad ideas when you're brainstorming!" are words every kid should learn to live by.
The show manages to teach kids important lessons without coming off as syrupy or preachy. Even after hundreds of viewings (and even more exposure in the car via a Movers CD) my wife and I do not look for the Movers with dread. Instead, we happily join in the singing and (sometimes) the dancing.
My very highest recommendation.』
(Silly show but sends good message) 『My two and a half year old loves this show and so do I. Although the show is silly and at times the "idea emergencies" seem a little ridiculous it still sends out a good message to the kids. They keep everything positive, upbeat and fun. For the people that have a negative opinion in regards to the actors or there motives I encourage you to go look at there website and read about the actors. Rich is a musician who can play several instruments. Scott is an award winning elementary school teacher. Dave is an architect who helped with the post Katrina rebuild. Smitty is a firefighter who assisted with search and rescue during Katrina. So these are real people not just a bunch of goofy guys trying to make a buck. The goal of there music and this show was to set a positive male influence in the lives of children and I think that is incredibly honorable.』
(Love it!) 『My son is 3 and he loves the movers. This DVD features 4 episodes. Our Comcast service recently took the movers off of "On Demand", so I really needed this DVD! It always bugged me how Comcast defaulted to movie previews once a program finished. Some of the movie previews they show in that box in the upper right corner are NOT appropriate for kids! When an episode finishes on the DVD, it defaults to the menu and plays the theme song, so your kid will still be dancing when they ask u to play it again for them (each episode is about 30 minutes long). The Imagination Movers sing songs that teach or have a good message, "If u let me try, I can do it by myself!" And the music is not annoying like the songs on so many other kid shows. You'll catch yourself singing the songs long after your child watched it. And to all the mommys out there, the movers are easy on the eyes!』
(My son LOVES this!) 『This cd is great for all imagination mover fans. My son will sit throught the whole dvd.』 『Studio: Buena Vista Home Video Release Date: 05/05/2009』

For anyone who purchased the previous Complete Series which was released in 2008, you know how horrible it was arranged and packaged. Most people who ordered the old version received it in shambles. The discs were scattered throughout the box and many people reported scratched or damaged discs.
The packaging for this new product is much better. Each season is packaged in its own rigid plastic case (same style as most DVDs come in). Each case has an individual cardboard sleeve, and all 4 seasons fit into a simple cardboard cover.
I purchased my copy off a store shelf (I didn't have it shipped). At the store, there were 3 copies on the shelf, and unfortunately, all three copies "rattled" when I tipped them over, which indicated to me that there were probably loose discs inside. I chose the copy which had the smallest "rattle" to it. When I opened the product, I found that Seasons 1 and 2 were packaged with a foam cushion which prevented them from moving around. Seasons 3 and 4 had no cushion, and 3 of these discs had come loose. There was no damage to any of the discs.
I found the packaging to be satisfactory, but if I needed to buy a 2nd copy, I would most likely purchase it from a store where I can "shake" the product before buying.
In regard to extra features, I personally will not rate this. I don't usually watch the extras, nor do I care about the table of contents and other inserts that come with these kinds of products. I was only sharing my experience with the packaging of the product. I hope this information is helpful to anyone who may be hesitant after the horrible quality of the 2008 product.』
(Fraggle Rock Fan) 『Just received the Fraggle Rock Complete Series Collection. It is superb. The colors, the sound, it is just like the original series broadcasts so many years ago. I will cherish this collection for a long time. Brings back wonderful memories when my kids were young. Great value. Much better than most of the stuff on tv for kids now, just my opinion, though. I thought I had bought the complete collection a few years back. It was a rip off. The episodes had been copied off of the tv and the quality sucked big time. The episodes only played half of the time. Should have known better. This is the real deal, though. Lots of extras too. (These Demo's are MUST HAVE!!) 『I love every remastered song on CD#1 and could care less that I own them several times over on other cds. I would have bought this CD regardless. BUT WHAT A WONDERFUL GIFT the 2nd CD is!
The demos on the 2nd CD are beautiful treasures. My favorite is the spoken poem, "Planet Earth," from Michael's book of poetry and essays called "Dancing the Dream" in 1992.
I've read Planet Earth and the other poems from the book many times, but listening to Michael recite the poem was beautiful and it touched my heart tremendously. You can hear his emotion and sincerity.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to own this CD. You won't regret it!』

(Little overpriced at $100) 『I just bought this exact product on QVC for $25 with shipping. I cannot believe that someone is scamming people on the "collectors edition" and charging $100 a pop. (Such a Cute Movie!) 『I love this movie as much as my grandchildren do. Really cute story with great animation - keeps us all spellbound, and has sparked an interest in real bugs that has blossomed into a hobby! The little ones can't get enough of books about bugs, and love to spot and identify bugs they find in the back yard or on hikes. It all started when they watched A Bug's Life.
There are a number of items that go well with this movie, to make it a truly educational experience that if so fun for kids. The book, The Ant and the Grasshopper by Amy Lowry Poole is fun, The Ant and the Grasshopper, a living ant farm, Fascinations Antworks Illuminated, or Bugopoly Late for the Sky Bug-Opoly. The possibilities are endless - just type the words "bugs and insects" into the Amazon Toys and Games search engine and you will find more goodies than you can imagine.

(MUST OWN) 『The only thing i have to say about this amazing Pixar flick is go and buy it now!!!!!!!!!! You wont be displeased i guarantee it』
(+Digital Copy DOES NOT = DVD COPY!!!) 『While the BluRay disc is excellent, I had initially purchased this version so that I would have one for the house and a regular DVD for use in the Mini-Van. However, the +Digital copy is not a DVD you can play in your car, it's a copy you can install with a code to your Windows or Apple computer. So much for not having to buy one BluRay and one regular DVD for use in the car. Just don't get fooled. If you want a copy for your computer, this is great, but not what I was expecting.』 『There was such a magic on the screen in 1995 when the people at Pixar came up with the first fully computer-animated film,Toy Story. Their second feature film,A Bug's Life, may miss the bull's-eye but Pixar's target is so lofty, it's hard to find the film anything less than irresistible.
Brighter and more colorful than the other animated insect movie of 1998 (Antz),A Bug's Lifeis the sweetly told story of Flik (voiced by David Foley), an ant searching for better ways to be a bug. His colony unfortunately revolves around feeding and fearing the local grasshoppers (lead by Hopper, voiced with gleeful menace by Kevin Spacey). When Flik accidentally destroys the seasonal food supply for the grasshoppers he decides to look for help ("We need bigger bugs!"). The ants, led by Princess Atta (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), are eager to dispose of the troublesome Flik. Yet he finds help--a hearty bunch of bug warriors--and brings them back to the colony. Unfortunately they are just traveling performers afraid of conflict.
As withToy Story, the ensemble of creatures and voices is remarkable and often inspired. Highlights include wiseacre comedian Denis Leary as an un-ladylike ladybug, Joe Ranft as the German-accented caterpillar, David Hyde Pierce as a stick bug, and Michael McShane as a pair of unintelligible pillbugs. The scene-stealer is Atta's squeaky-voiced sister, baby Dot (Hayden Panettiere), who has a big sweet spot for Flik.
More gentle and kid-friendly thanAntz,A Bug Life'sstill has some good suspense and a wonderful demise of the villain. However, the film--a giant worldwide hit--will be remembered for its most creative touch: "outtakes" over the end creditsà la many live-action comedy films. These dozen or so scenes (both "editions" of outtakes are contained here) are brilliant and deserve a special place in film history right along with 1998's other most talked-about sequence: the opening Normandy invasion inSaving Private Ryan.
The video also contains Pixar's delightful Oscar-winning short,Geri's Game. Box art varies.--Doug Thomas』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (It's a gift....I've never seen it.) 『This stupid "review your product" won't leave me alone so here you go. I bought this as a gift and never even unwrapped it. I have no clue if it's good or not. The person I bought it for said it's the best movie ever but he also thinks the show "Reba" is the best on TV. You will just have to watch it yourself to form an opinion. Sorry I'm not of much help.』
(Excellent Western) 『It would be hard from me to add to the otherwise great reviews on this excellently made-for-TV movie. Historically accurate and true to life characters reveals a good understanding of the turn of a century settling of the West. I wished there was a seguel of Hewey in Kelton's "The Smiling Country" and perhaps a younger Hewey in the prequel of "Two Bits a Day." And yes, where is the DVD of this classic Western?』
(Are you ever going to put this one on DVD, and make a DVD of it, I want the DVD of this) 『Hi,
Can anybody please tell me where in the heck is the DVD for this one and will it ever be released on DVD, because many people would enjoy and love seeing this one on DVD.
Please get this on DVD, that would be very nice.』
(where's the DVD) 『Why can I not get a DVD for this movie? I have been waiting for years for a DVD and still nothing.』
(Jones in SELF-INDULGENT Mode) 『On the strength of the consistent rave reviews here of this Tommy Lee Jones project - he co-wrote, directed, and starred in the film - we got this over-priced video. Talk about the sensation of being from another planet! We were amazed to discover that the movie is truly awful (read: AWFUL). Jones was clearly worshipping at his own altar, with incessant lingering close-ups of his grinning face. Like Costner's self-glorifying DANCES WITH WOLVES, THE GOOD OLD BOYS rarely sports a single frame which does not showcase Jones. Neither star is sufficiently talented as an actor or as a director to carry an entire film, yet both are compelled to take their places on both sides of the camera. When Jones isn't chewing the scenery with those all-too-exposed teeth (the man literally never closes his lips from start to finish), he is directing the wasted Spacek in a thankless role as a frustrated spinster. More offensive than Spacek's painfully over-the-top girlishness is the notion that ANY woman - frustrated or otherwise - would pursue an unbathed, aging, penniless, dim-witted drifter whose ludicrously exaggerated accent could scrape paint off a fender.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (The best I have seen in a long time) 『I have waited a long time to get this film, mine broke years back, but at last I have a good copy. Thanks.』
(Disappointing purchase....) 『Hello. I made this purchase for an older friend of my Aunt. She was very excited to be receiving this video, for she has memories from her youth of not only this actor, but the times she and her father would watch this movie. I was disappointed to discover this weekend that the video did not play in its entirety. She did not even make it through the entire film before it went black (?). I know this was not a new copy, but we did expect it to at least play. She has such a joy in her heart&eye for this movie, that she is looking to purchase another copy. Prayfully, we have have different results.』
(Handsomely mounted opeartic biopic) 『This is a highly fictionaliased and heavily sentimental portrait of the great operatic tenor .It is lavishly mounted and has many popular ingredients which all helped in making it a major commercial hit in its day.
There is the rags to riches nature of the story as Enrico Caruso rises from poverty on the back streets of Naples to becoming the darling of New York society ,overcoming the death of his mother while still a child and building a carrer in the opera houses of Europe before his US debut. There is the theme of his falling in love with a scion of New York society ,in the face of unbending parental disapproval .There are lots of popular operatic arias and a strong dose of religiosity ,with the Bach -Gounoud "Ave Marie" a particular standout ..for those with more populist taste there is a strong pop tune in "The Loveliest Night of the Year" added to the mix. Add to this the performance of Lanza at the peak of his powers and you have all the ingredients for a well received "highbrow"musical.
The movie treats of his life in a superficial way and biographical accuracy has been substituted for historical accuracy ,his real life being a great deal more dramatic than we see here on the screen .The movie for example makes no reference to his first marraige preferring instead to concentrate on his relationship with his second wife ,Dorothy Benjamin (fetchingly played by Ann Blythe)and the clash with her snobbish father (Carl Benton Reid ,giving another of his solid turns as a patrician paterfamilias -his archetypal role in movies). The rise to fame with attendant pressures are but lightly touched on.
What we do get is a sterling performance by an ideally cast Lanza at the peak of handsomeness and voacl prowess ,a fine performance from Dorothy Kirsten as a soprano who befriends Caruso ,and above all that magnificent music ,magnificently sung .It is not a great movie but it is well made ,sumptuously staged and entertaining .Read a biography if you want a detailed life of an interesting and comlex artiste -that dimension is missing from the movie』
(Mario Lanza - one of my first loves!) 『All these years later, I still love him - and the story of the great Caruso is as tender and touching as it was fifty years ago. And, pardon me, but doesn't Mario Lanza make some of our present day tenors sound thin and reedy? I may have crossed the line there, but, for me, there is nothing like the robust, full, rich voice of Mario - singing all of our favorite arias. I learned to love opera through Mario Lanza - and, like Caruso, his life was too short. The story of Caruso is interesting - his rise from singing in Italian cafes to the Metropolitan Opera. Who doesn't love a rags to riches story? If you want a trip back in time - through a timeless story - get your hands on The Great Caruso - you'll play it, as I do, again and again. We are so fortunate that so many of these wonderful early films have been preserved.』
(Overwhelming Music Sang by an Overwhelming Tenor.) 『I was a kid when this film was released and saw it with undivided attention and was instantly in love with opera music and I still are! Some time later my Grandfather bought 78 rpm disk suite of the movie score and we played interminably. So I'm a sort of addict to this movie. It was directed by Richard Thorpe, a prolific artisan with 186 films in his account. He has started directing movies in the silent period. He was very versatile, directed Johnny Weissmuller in four Tarzan's chapters. Between 1951 till 1953 he delivered at least four successful movies: "The Great Caruso" (1951), "The Prisoner of Zenda" (1952), "Ivanhoe" (1952) and "The Knights of the Round Table" (1953). He retired in 1967.
The story is quite simple it follows Caruso's (1873-1921) life since childhood, his first steps as a singer, his jump to fame, his first encounter/disencounter with NYC's opera lovers, his love crash at first sight with Ms Doro, his clashes with Doro's father, his runaway, his triumphal return and love fulfillment. Is that all? Well... no there is opera music and Mario Lanza outstanding performances. Incredible and unforgettable. Such great arias as "Vesti la Giuba" from "I Pagliacci", "E Lucevan le stelle" from "Tosca", the quartet from "Rigolleto" and more and more till the viewer has seen a full opera introduction.
Ann Blyth is delicious playing Ms Dorothy Benjamin with a very delicate touch reminding me of Audrey Hepburn at her best. Dorothy Kirsten adds her beautiful voice fleshing opera singer Louise Heggar.
Last but not least cinematography in charge of Joe Ruttenber who won four Oscar and was nominated for six more between 1939 and 1961 is luminous.
It is a great film for opera music lovers and general public. Do not miss it! Reviewed by Max Yofre. 』

(A Muppets Christmas Carol - VHS - Great Movie! Absolutely love it!) 『Hello I'm an autistic adult.
This is my review on A Muppets Christmas Carol - VHS.
I saw this movie when it first came out in the early to mid 1990's&decided to re - rent this movie from my local library for a week yeah they only give one week on movies but that's fine by me besides it's free. Anyway's it may be tad early to start watching christmas movies but I get bored easily&I love A christmas Carol (the book written by charles Dicken's) Anyway's I love the muppet version of A Christmas Carol as Kermit playing as Bob Cratchit,&Gonzo narrating Charles Dicken's story with Rizzo the Rat. Good family movie for everyone&extremely funny with Gonzo&Rizzo they were hilarious narrating. I loved it. Over all the muppets version of A Christmas Carol is right on the money for being accurate in following the book A Christmas Carol which is great what is exactly what I wanted to see in the movie that it followed the book in which it did. So if you want to get any movie that portray's to A Christmas Carol by Charles Dicken's this would be the most accurate movie. I've seen so far. I highly recommend this movie to everyone. The Book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dicken's is one of my favorite book's to read.
Happy Movie Hunting everyone!
P.S. If you get into the Barbie movies like me there is only one I would not recommend to anyone which is called Barbie A Christmas Carol do not get the barbie version you'll be sadly dissappointed at how far off base it is from Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol. If you get any christmas carol movie I highly recommend A Muppet's Christmas Carol as opposed.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my review!
Happy Movie Hunting everyone!』
(I'm biased, but you'd be a Scrooge not to love this movie.) 『Muppet Christmas Carol has been my family's Christmas Eve tradition for about 10 years. I mean, we kept our lame old VCR down in the basement because we would forget to buy the DVD before Christmas each year and get stuck watching the VHS. I finally got motivated and ordered a copy for my parents and siblings.
The movie looks great, and the bonus features are pretty good considering the movie is from 1992. I SWEAR that a scene is missing from the part where Scrooge gets dumped by Belle and she sings that hilariously serious song "The Love is Gone." Not that I miss it, but we did notice it seemed shorter because we had less to make fun of.』
(christmas in july) 『this movie can make anyone feel warm inside...you can watch it in july and feel the spirit of christmas. i think everyone should watch the magic of this movie. this movie is a reminder of the "true" christmas meaning. at times when it seems the world has forgotten what christmas is all about, i watch this movie to feel better about it.』
(I never get tired of this movie!) 『Since it first came out this has been a much loved movie in our house, it never gets old and is played year round. This year I'm getting it for my grand babies so yet another generation can fall in love with it.』 『This is the season for love, laughter, and one of the most cherished stories of all time! Join Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and all the hilarious Muppets in this merry, magical version of Charles Dickens' classic tale. Academy Award winner Michael Caine (Best Supporting Actor, 2000, The Cider House Rules; 1987, Hannah and Her Sisters) gives a performance that's anything but "bah, humbug!" as greedy, penny-pinching Ebenezer Scrooge. One fateful Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Together with kind, humble Bob Cratchit (Kermit the Frog) and his family, the Spirits open Scrooge's eyes -- and his heart -- to the true meaning of Christmas. Filled with original music and dazzling special effects, this restored and remastered 50th Anniversary Edition of The Muppet Christmas Carol will become a holiday tradition your family will treasure all the days of the year.』 『Brian Henson directs his late father's creations in the Charles Dickens classic, the best known (and most oft-filmed) Christmas story of all time. Michael Caine plays the old miser Scrooge with Kermit as his long-suffering but ever-hopeful employee Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as Cratchit's wife, and a host of Muppets (including the Great Gonzo as an unlikely Charles Dickens) taking other primary roles in this bright, playful adaptation of the somber tale. Or at least it starts brightly enough--the anarchic humor soon settles into mirthful memories and a sense of melancholy as the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future take Scrooge on a journey of his lonely, wasted life. Michael Caine makes a wonderful Scrooge, delightfully rediscovering the meaning of life as fantastic creations from Henson's Creature Shop (developed specially for this film) take the reins as the three ghosts. While the odd mix of offbeat humor and somber drama undercuts the power of Dickens's drama, this kid-friendly retelling makes an excellent family drama that adults and children alike can enjoy.--Sean Axmaker』

Not yet released Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Killer n' Filler) 『Inglourious Basterds is a very long movie, clocking in at nearly 2 and a half hours (this is not counting the credits, though I tend to stay for the music in a Tarantino movie. Chick Habit, Coconut, etc). But while Pulp Fiction changes all the time, featuring many different topics, great bursts of action, Basterds doesn't quite accomplish this, with many periods of dialogue that seems to drag and drag. Jackie Brown was as long and featured even more dialogue, but the dialogue sets didn't drag all the time. I think that Basterds is on the same boat as Brown, but that's only because Jackie Brown doesn't feature as much action or fun. The dialogue isn't as bad as Kill Bill Vol 2, and there is great dialogue all over the place, but Basterds has a tendency to drag.
This still has Tarantino written all over it. The spaghetti western music is just as infectious as Pulp Fiction's surf oriented sound track, Jackie Brown's funk and soul sound track, basically, all the Tarantino sound tracks. The humor is still there, and at it's best, it's classic hilarity. The action scenes are ace. When I saw it in the theaters, I'm sure there were people who laughed off the violence and called it cheesy of over the top, that's what makes the movie so fun. The shootouts are loud, overtly done, and makes me wish there were more violent scenes (I can't wait to see what he does with classic mafia staples, such as tommy guns). The sets are amazingly done, as they are totally exotic and he knows how to pick em' out. It's nice to see him venture out of Los Angeles. His direction is top notch, and the acting is great, from Eli Roth. And I love Roth's character, as he's loud and obnoxious, as well as Hugo Stiglitz. There are lot's of great characters in this, and some of them have already entered among my favorite Tarantino characters.
The reason why I'm calling this Killer n' filler is because when Basterds cooks, it really cooks like any other Tarantino movie. This is most evident in the first, second, and fifth chapters, featuring great dialogue and cool action. The first chapter has tension, and shows how multifaced Landa, "The Jew Hunter", is. The second chapter is all pure fun. Aldo's speech is hilarious and quotable from beginning to end. b And the fifth chapter is another masterpiece of storytelling, with a great ending, and lot's of numerous intercutting stories and everything else worth. Uh, what else can I say? It's top notch stuff, and I could really write paragraph and nitpick my favorite points.
However, I'm giving this a lower grade because of the short comings of the third and fourth chapter. The fourth chapter is kind of fun, featuring some interesting insight, great bits between Hugo, basement complaining, and the shootout near the end (not to mention the funny bit where Raine sticks his finger through Bridget's leg wound, I was the only one who laughed like crazy). However, the scenes has many parts when it just drags, and even though the characters are likeable (Diane Kruger is damn good looking, and I don't usually look at actresses), it offers little to no insight. The third chapter suffers from this even more, and while some of the stylistic parts are great to see, others parts aren't. While the use of music is great, the diner scene, and especially the restrauant scene, had me half asleep. Sure, his style (not to mention Tarantino's most beautiful sets yet) is still evident at points, but style isn't everything, and even Tarantino's style isn't enough to save some of the parts from boredom.
Still, it's still a Tarantino movie, and it's a worthy edition to his ever growing filmography of cinema. ANd while there's problems with it's self indulgence regarding dialogue, it's still yet another Tarantino movie to add to the growing collection of my favorite director. A cheesy Salute, to the Basterds"!

(Tarentino's Masterpiece) 『Inglourious Basterds is, without a doubt, Tarantino's masterpiece. In fact, not to jinks him or wish him anything but the best in future endeavors, but it is my opinion the odds of him surpassing what he has achieved in this film are slim indeed.
While there have been numerous complaints (even in the most complimentary of reviews) of the many incongruous elements found throughout the film, I have found it is the very disparity of those elements that tie this film into a unifying whole - and precisely what makes it one of the most satisfactory films and satisfying movie experiences of 2009. It is this genre-busting, "what is it?" quality that makes it unique among the major players of this year's top films.
Visually, Tarantino has done nothing to date that quite matches the opulence he achieves here a tailor made look evocative of the "Grand Hollywood Style" of those glorious Technicolor epics of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Like those, every frame of "Inglorious Basterds" seems worthy of being reproduced as "art" in its own right. The color spectrum he employs throughout is rich and vivid in that 1950's fashion - simultaneously lurid yet beautiful.
He elicits performances from his cast that are among the most memorable seen in years. The arc of the Shoshana story - Melanie Laurent in a powerfully searing performance that throbs with a ferocious intensity, anchors the various chapters of the film brilliantly. That performance is matched (and maybe even surpassed) by her chief tormentor, in the guise of Austrian actor Christopher Waltz as Hans Landa of the SS. Waltz, in fact, makes one of the most amazing film debuts in American film history. Chilling doesn't begin to describe his performance here.
Not to be outdone by her costars, Diane Kruger gets to star in one of Tarantino's most brilliantly conceived scenes from any of his films - the basement bar scene. As the unlikely (and hilariously) named Bridget Von Hammersmark, Kruger gives her finest performance since Joyeux Noel and proves herself both as comedian and grand tragedienne.
The Basterds - headed by Brad Pitt - have found some critics singling theirs out to be the weakest element of the movie, but I disagree. Strongly. While the danger of the European war front can be elegantly confusing throughout the entire film (e.g., the almost Andrew Wyeth spareness of the opening chapter; the inviting danger of the basement bar; the opulence of the Cinetheque, etc.) the sheer audacity and brutality of the scenes with the Basterds adds a provocatively American feel to the story's proceedings.
The Basterds are almost a comic chorus line - not quite interchangeable archetypes in a film otherwise populated with specific and memorable characters. Of course several of them (including Mr. Pitt) get to partake in a finale that is (even by Tarentino standards) so over the top it is nothing if not jaw dropping. The entire finale offers one of the most hauntingly beautiful and memorable scenes modern cinema has had to offer in a very long time.
Mr. Tarantino paints all of this onto the broadest canvas possible using a palette that combines the almost unseemly mixtures of film noir, slapstick, crude comedy, art house film, historical fiction, James Bond-style slickness, buddy pic and action flick seemingly without a fleeting concern as to what anybody else thinks. It's a "take no prisoners" style of filmmaking that (clearly) does not play to all tastes and demands that it be taken on its own terms. If one is willing to take that journey with him the rewards are remarkable and immeasurable. A truly remarkable film achievement. Bravo, Signor Tarantino! 』
(Quintessentially Tarantino, but could've been much better) 『With all the hype surrounding Inglorious Basterds and being a fan of previous Tarantino works like Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown, WWII combat films and westerns, I expected to like Basterds a lot more than I did. As you already know from trailers and ads, the film is a lavishly-produced and violent revenge fantasy centered around a plot to take out the Nazi High Command. Basterds has the look of film-making of yesteryear, drawing inspiration and stylistic influences from such sources as the classic 1967 film The Dirty Dozen, spaghetti westerns and "macaroni combat" films (a sub-genre of films produced by Italian directors of the mid-60's). Like all Tarantino films, it is filled with wonderfully inventive, humorous (and sometimes rambling) dialog, quirky narrative pacing, and a cast of memorable characters. And of course, lots of hidden references and punctuated by great music.
For those who haven't seen the film, there are actually two main story branches: the more publicized one concerning the Basterds, and another revolving around a young Jewish woman named Shoshana who is living in Paris under an assumed name and identity. Her story comes first. In Chapter 1, we are introduced to the film's main antagonist, a charming, highly intelligent, and charismatic SS Colonel named Hans Landa, nicknamed "The Jew Hunter" for his ruthless efficiency. He visits a French farmhouse where a teenage Shoshana and her family are being hidden. Shoshana is the only survivor of that encounter. She flees, but with a clear opportunity to kill her, Landa lets her escape.
Next, we cut to Chapter 2 where we see Lt. Aldo Raine (played by a miscast Brad Pitt) recruiting a unit of Jewish American soldiers to engage in guerrilla operations deep within Axis-controlled France, spreading terror through the Nazi ranks with their ambush tactics and brutality. We see them clubbing Nazi soldiers to death with baseball bats and taking of scalp, shown very graphically. Pitt's performance and mannerisms as a hardened military man from Tennessee (complete with Southern drawl) is not completely convincing, reminding me of his character from 12 Monkeys instead. My major criticism here is with the character development. It's very lacking, in my opinion. We only get a brief vignette/flashback of Hugo Stiglitz (Til Schweiger), called out by name in a 60's movie font. We don't get much of a backstory for Aldo or any of the other 7 basterds except Stiglitz, giving us very little emotional investment. Not all of them make it through the film.
Next, we have the British coming into play, hatching up "Operation Kino" (German for "cinema"), a joint operation with the Basterds to blow up a movie theater where Hitler and his top commanders will be attending a film screening of Joseph Goebbels' newest propaganda film. Mike Meyers makes a cameo appearance as a British General, sounding a bit like Austin Powers with his fake accent. Unknown to the Allies, Shoshana hatches a plot of her own and we return to her in the fifth and final chapter as she sets her plans in motion and the remaining parties converging for a final fateful encounter, all set to David Bowie's bellowing "Putting Out Fire" (a song originally written for Cat People). It's wonderfully anachronistic and appropriate, as is almost all of the musical choice in the film, which blends rock riffs, Spanish guitar, and too many styles for me to identify.
Austrian actor Christoph Waltz is absolutely brilliant as Landa and is expected to get an Oscar tap for his command performance. Cold, calculating, beguilingly charming, and nuanced, Tarantino says Landa is perhaps his greatest character. Waltz infuses the character with complexity, humor, and wit. He really makes this movie.
Stylistically, the film is beautiful shot, visually convincing, and full of that trademark Tarantino flare. It's a very enjoyable experience if you like his work and WWII films in general, but I felt Pitt was miscast and not totally believable in his role. The basterds needed more character development if we are to care about their fates. We get very little personality information to go on here, and the film treated them as expendables. Even if the army did, the film shouldn't have treated them as disposables if we are to make a two and a half hour investment in watching this film and in the characters. Overall, I enjoyed this film, but it could've been better.』

(Flawed but awesome) 『First off, let's get this out of the way: Quentin Tarentino will never, EVER top "Pulp Fiction". Period. Not gonna happen. So everyone really needs to stop comparing his movies to "Pulp Fiction". Second, this isn't supposed to be an accurate, dramatic depiction of World War II. We've seen a million of those types of films, and no portrayal of the Holocaust is going to surpass "Schindler's List", nor should it: it's one of the best movies of all time. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, "Inglourious Basterds" isn't perfect but it's still a good movie. Christoph Waltz is to this movie what Javier Bardeim was to "No Country for Old Men": a menacing, sadistic lunatic who you wanted to die but at the same time didn't because he's such an interesting character. Hopefully Mr. Waltz will get more roles in major American films, because his portrayal of "the Jew Hunter" is amazing. Brad Pitt is extremely entertaining as the leader of the Basterds, Aldo Raine, and his "artwork" and the "debt" he extracts from his men are so horrible that you have to love it. He also does a wonderful East Tennessee accent that other actors could stand to learn from (I'm looking at you, George Clooney). However, Melanie Laurent steals the movie as Shosanna, the secretly-Jewish Parisian cinema owner determined to not only take out "the Jew Hunter" for murdering her family but also the entire Nazi regime during the premiere of a Nazi propaganda film. She's cold yet vulnerable and sweet yet ruthless, and she's clearly the center of attention in the scenes she's in. Unfortunately, Tarantino's obsession with dialogue prevents this movie from taking the step from good to great. Despite the title, there are precious few appearances by the Basterds; they're pretty much confined to the end of the first chapter and portions of the last chapter (and then many only make cameo appearances). Eli Roth as Donnie Donowitz ("The Bear Jew" as he is know to the superstitious and scared Nazis) is a particular lost opportunity, because aside from Pitt's character he's the most interesting of the Basterds as well as the most sadistic (in a good way: we're talking about killing Nazis, after all). Diane Kruger's portrayal of double-agent Bridget von Hammerstock isn't terrible, but her character is so underexposed and boring that there's no real reason for her existence in the film. In fact, the entire episode in the bar is so unnecessary, drawn-out, and straight boring that you have to wonder what Tarantino was thinking shooting this scene at all; he could've used that time to undergo more exposition for the Basterds (or at least cut down on the length of the movie). This exact same criticism applies to the British agent and the scene with Churchill. I personally would've liked to have seen Shoshanna's biracial romance brought out a little more, and the entire high command of Germany meeting in a movie theater does seem a little far-fetched even for this movie (although the end result is wonderful). Overall, I would say take this movie for what it is: a fun, incredibly violent (seriously, don't see this if you're sqeemish) ride. The ending is bittersweet, but anyone who hates the Nazis will still wish this is what had happened in real life (preferably in 1933). Now, some people (at least among critics) are upset because they think the all-Jewish Basterds are so horrifically violent that they are no better than the Gestapo. My response to this is who cares?! The Nazis - specifically the high command and the SS - commit so many atrocities that it really doesn't matter how violent the Basterds respond in kind: they can never be worse than the Nazis they terrorize. Definitely see this movie.』 『Although Quentin Tarantino has cherished Enzo G. Castellari's 1978 "macaroni" war flickThe Inglorious Bastardsfor most of his film-geek life, his ownInglourious Basterdsis no remake. Instead, as hinted by the Tarantino-esque misspelling, this is a lunatic fantasia of WWII, a brazen re-imagining of both history and the behind-enemy-lines war film subgenre. There's a Dirty Not-Quite-Dozen of mostly Jewish commandos, led by a Tennessee good ol' boy named Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) who reckons each warrior owes him one hundred Nazi scalps--and he means that literally. Even as Raine's band strikes terror into the Nazi occupiers of France, a diabolically smart and self-assured German officer named Landa (Christoph Waltz) is busy validating his own legend as "The Jew Hunter." Along the way, he wipes out the rural family of a grave young girl (Melanie Laurent) who will reappear years later in Paris, dreaming of vengeance on an epic scale.
Now, this isn't one more big-screen comic book. As the masterly opening sequence reaffirms, Tarantino is a truefilmmaker, with a deep respect for the integrity of screen space and the tension that can accumulate in contemplating two men seated at a table having a polite conversation.IBreunites QT with cinematographer Robert Richardson (who shotKill Bill), and the colors and textures they serve up can be riveting, from the eerie red-hot glow of a tabletop in Adolf Hitler's den, to the creamy swirl of a Parisian pastry in which Landa parks his cigarette. The action has been divided,Pulp Fiction-like, into five chapters, each featuring at least one spellbinding set-piece. It's testimony to the integrity we mentioned that Tarantino can lock in the ferocious suspense of a scene for minutes on end, then explode the situation almost faster than the eye and ear can register, andthentake the rest of the sequence to a new, wholly unanticipated level within seconds.
Again, be warned: This is not your "Greatest Generation,"Saving Private RyanWWII. The sadism of Raine and his boys can be as unsavory as the Nazi variety; Tarantino's latest cinematic protégé, Eli (director ofHostel) Roth, is aptly cast as a self-styled "golem" fond of pulping Nazis with a baseball bat. But get past that, and the sometimes disconcerting shifts to another location and another set of characters, and the movie should gather you up like a growing floodtide. Tarantino told the Cannes Film Festival audience that he wanted to show "Adolf Hitler defeated by cinema." Cinema wins.--Richard T. Jameson』
『Brad Pitt takes no prisoners in Quentin Tarantino’s high-octane WWII revenge fantasy Inglourious Basterds. As war rages in Europe, a Nazi-scalping squad of American soldiers, known to their enemy as“The Basterds,” is on a daring mission to take down the leaders of the Third Reich. Travolta just seemed to overact and you never get a feel as to what drives him in this film, no layers, no subtext, he's just a bad guy. Denzel who is usually so good, was very subdued, like he phoned this one in. And I wasn't buying James Gandolfini as the mayor. Throw in some unnecessary and unrealistic car crashes and you have a mess of a movie. 』
(Just So So) 『The movie was just okay, nothing to write home about or expect an award nomination for. Travolta did a very good job in his role, but Denzel was weak with his acting in this movie. Also the ending just fell short, after all the drama...then pop! it's over.』
(Great Thriller That Goes Slightly Off-Course...) 『2009 marks the fourth time critically acclaimed actor Denzel Washington has teamed-up with director Tony Scott for a film. The previous three movies were outstanding crowd pleasers, from the intense character driven drama of "Crimson Tide", to the action-packed thrill-ride of "Man on Fire", followed by the surprisingly enjoyable time-jumping actioner "Déjà Vu". With such extremely entertaining movies being produced from this actor/director combination, I had no reason to doubt that I would enjoy their fourth collaboration, the remake of "The Taking of Pelham 123".
"The Taking of Pelham 123" begins for subway dispatcher Walter Garber (Denzel Washington) much like any other normal day; however, as Walter soon discovers this day will be far from normal. When a violent group of criminals, led by a seriously deranged man named Ryder (John Travolta), takes control of one of New York City's subway cars, Garber gets stuck in the middle of a deadly game where lives can be lost with one wrong move. What started as just another day has now become a race against time to meet a madman's ransom before innocent lives may be lost.
Well, I must admit, this movie really surprised me in a couple of ways, and not necessarily for the best. For starters, it was a much smaller, more intimate character drama than I had anticipated from the previews. I knew that it would be a thriller, so the intensity would obviously be ratcheted way up, but I didn't foresee how narrow the majority of the movie's focus would be. Now, that's not a complaint implying that most of the movie was too small; on the contrary, I enjoyed that director Tony Scott moved away from the widespread action and mayhem that had permeated so many of his more recent movies (also not a complaint). Sometimes it's just nice to see a director who is known for a certain type of movie, take a step back and deliver something outside of their perceived comfort zone. Generally, when this happens the results can be quite refreshing and intriguing, to say the least.
However, my second surprise came from the fact that despite being thoroughly entertained by the story for roughly 95% of the movie's duration (as expected), the film's confounding climax derailed the movie slightly, just before reaching its final destination. The tightly paced screenplay from writer Brian Helgeland ("Man on Fire") was rife with tension, suspense, and drama; all of which provided the perfect recipe for an intriguing character drama, as I stated above. Yet, within the film's conclusion and for that matter even during a few scenes prior, it becomes slightly overblown and ultimately perplexing. What makes this a problem for me is the fact that when this occurs this once taut thrill ride begins to resemble just another action film (complete with an overdone crash sequence and an unrealistic chase scene) that doesn't feel like it fits in with the rest of the movie.
What caused this problem to occur in this movie? I believe this is one of those instances where the director couldn't leave well enough alone, and just had to include a big, and altogether unnecessary, action scene to complete his vision. I'm putting the blame mostly on director Tony Scott for this lack of judgment, although to be fair I'm sure these trouble spots were included in Helgeland's screenplay (perhaps at the behest of Scott, who knows). Whatever the cause, Tony Scott knows how to make great movies, and should have known better than to hinder a potentially great thriller with needless action movie set pieces.
Despite the complaint I just finished leveling at director Tony Scott, I do feel that he was a very solid choice for helming this movie. His hyper-kinetic visual style is perfectly suited to the kind of fast-paced thriller that Brian Helgeland's script demanded. Thankfully, Tony chose not to include all the washed out colors, pops of bright white across the screen, and various other camera filters and tricks that have been so heavily used in some of his recent work (i.e. "Man on Fire"). Even though I enjoyed the movies where Tony used what he calls his "shooting on acid" style, it was beginning to become somewhat distracting for me as the viewer, especially in his film "Domino".
Tony's more straight-forward approach to filming (which is reminiscent of his work on "Enemy of the State"), meaning without all the weird filters and such, is far less jarring. That's not to say that this film's camera work is completely static and boring. After all, we are talking about Tony Scott, so as one would expect the movie is chock full of quick cuts, almost constant camera movement, and even some moments of slow-motion, freeze frames, and fast-forwards. One thing is for sure, if you're going to watch a Tony Scott film, you're almost always guaranteed to be in for a visually interesting experience.
One area where the film definitely comes through is in the casting of the two lead characters. In the role of the story's protagonist, as anyone who has seen the preview should have deduced, is audience favorite Denzel Washington, taking over the role previously portrayed by screen legend Walter Matthau in the 1974 original. Denzel plays Walter Garber, a man beaten down by a thankless job, who is struggling to survive in a world that waits for no one. It's a part that could have been played with far less believability by some actors of Denzel's stature, but as always Denzel delivers yet another solid performance. Unlike some of his past roles, Walter is a far less confident man than what some have come to expect Denzel to portray. While Walter may not exude authority and command the respect that other Denzel characters have before; there is a quiet strength inherent in the character that connects with the audience and fills Garber with a steely resolve to see this ordeal through to its conclusion.
The other lead actor in this film is the ever-reliable John Travolta ("Face/Off"), in yet another scene stealing villainous role. As the lead hijacker, Ryder, Travolta proves once again why he is generally a perfect choice for a cinematic villain. One moment he will be extremely charismatic and almost likeable, but in a split-second he will simply snap, becoming completely unhinged and unpredictable. So many actors struggle to break a good guy image once it's been solidified in the public's mindset; however, Travolta is one of the rare examples in which he has been able to successfully transition back and forth between good and evil roles without issue. Some critics argue that John's villains tend to feel over-exaggerated due to some over-acting on his part. I tend to disagree with this sentiment, at least in this instance ("Battlefield Earth" on the other hand...). I think some critics perhaps mistake this character's almost bi-polar personality for over-acting, when in reality it is simply a drastic shift in his character's emotional composition. In my humble opinion, I believe John Travolta delivered another top-notch villainous performance that audiences will love to hate.
In the supporting roles are some very talented, and always dependable actors such as, John Turturro ("Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"), James Gandolfini (TV's "The Sopranos"), and Luis Guzman ("The Count of Monte Cristo"). John Turturro is given a much more serious, no-nonsense role this time around as opposed to the off-kilter, eccentric character he's more recently been associated with in the two "Transformers" movies. With John's character he could have easily remained very cold and one-dimensional; instead, he played him as a very empathetic man who loves his job and always wants to do what's right, not just what's convenient for those in power. With that conviction there is also a clear sense that Turturro's character feels somewhat betrayed by the job and perhaps even by the city he protects. It's a surprisingly more conflicted role than one would expect, and not surprisingly John handles it all with great ease.
I mentioned a moment ago that James Gandolfini and Luis Guzman were two of the other supporting cast members, but unlike John Turturro their roles were far less interesting. Truthfully, I can't for the life of me understand why the casting director chose to waste two very good actors on essentially throwaway roles. As the mayor of New York City, James Gandolfini appears bored and unenthusiastic, but who can blame him when the role is so bland and generic. As for Luis Guzman, this terrific character actor is placed in a bit part as one of Travolta's henchmen; however, he's given so little to do within the story that you can't help but wonder why he even signed on for this movie.
Perhaps it was the opportunity to get to work with Denzel Washington, John Travolta or director Tony Scott that drove those two actors to participate in thankless roles. Whatever the case may be, it is too bad more couldn't have been done to make their characters more interesting or important to the overall story.
"The Taking of Pelham 123" has all the makings of an incredibly relentless thrill ride, but some ill-fated decisions in the latter moments of the movie slightly derailed my enjoyment of the experience. All things considered, "Pelham" is still an entertaining movie, it's just got some problems that cause it to stumble to conclusion rather than roll along smoothly.
"The Taking of Pelham 123" is rated R for violence and pervasive language.』
(The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 DVD Review) 『In my opinion, this remake of The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 doesn't even come close to the original excellent 1974 film, which was directed by Joseph Sargent. The new version is tedious, boring, with a lot of vulgar dialogs, and pretentious acting. Luis Guzman, who is one of my favorite character actors, is totally wasted in this film. The musical score is inappropriate and doesn't match the action scenes at all. Note that at the end of the film, a police officer gives Denzel Washington a Walther PPK pistol for his protection, which he puts in his coat pocket. Later on when Denzel Washington pulls out the pistol, it is totally a different handgun.』
(Fails On Almost Every Level) 『By and large, the types of films that Denzel Washington sticks his name on provide viewers with incredible acting, great character development, and a plot that sucks you in and makes you really care about what is going on. Unfortunately, "The Taking of Pelham 123" does absolutely none of those things.
Acting: The film focuses on Washington's "good guy" (a New York subway line coordinator) matching wits with John Travolta's "bad guy" (who hijacks a subway car in exchange for a large ransom). However, neither of them are able to act anywhere near their full potential. Whereas Denzel is at his best when his passions/convictions get the best of him, in this movie he is not once allowed to emote wildly. Instead, he turns in a ho-hum performance where he stays cool, calm, and in control the entire time. While that may have been the character that was written on the page, it didn't suit Washington at all and thus should have been cast differently. As for Travolta, he is too busy dropping F-bombs and maniacally raving to really be allowed any sort of acting maneuvering. His character is the same from the first time that we see him until the last.
Plot: Though hyped up to be an incredible, fast-paced film, the plot really is no different than anything that has been done a thousand times before. Crime, hostages, ransom, banter, rescue attempt. That's all it really boiled down to, and those same themes were covered in much more riveting fashion in mere minutes of, say, "The Siege" (another, much better, Washington film).
Character Development: This area was easily the biggest weakness of the film. Though it seems as if, in the beginning, the film is moving towards some interesting developments for both the Washington and Travolta characters, the "revelations" come and go in seconds and are never touched upon again. It's as if the writers had some good ideas in mind, but never really got everything ironed out.
Also odd was the strange dialogues throughout the film. At times, in the middle of what should have been a tense hostage crisis, Washington (or his co-workers/superiors) were often seen laughing or joking with each other in a fashion that didn't at all seem to fit the tense mood of the film. I kept expecting the tension to pick up as the minutes ticked by, but before I knew it the movie was over and it seemed as if nothing substantial had happened.
Thus, despite my liking of most films starring Denzel Washington, I would have to steer other viewers clear of this one. The plot is shallow, the acting isn't anywhere near fully realized, and the character development/dialogues are just plain stupid or non-existent. I have not seen the original version of "Pelham", but I'm willing to bet that this remake didn't live up to it.』 『John Godey's 1973 novelThe Taking of Pelham One Two Threeboasts a suspense situation so surefire that even the directorial bad habits of Tony Scott can't ruin this latest movie version. Four armed men seize a New York City subway train, isolate one car, and threaten to start killing passengers if a ransom isn't paid within the hour. The ransom was a million dollars in the book and also in Joseph Sargent's solid 1974 movie, in which Robert Shaw played the mercenary leading the hostage takers and Walter Matthau was the growling transit cop trying to outsmart him. In 2009, the title has gone digital--The Taking of Pelham 123--and inflation has jumped the asking price to $10 million. Where Shaw's menace was steely, John Travolta opts for manic, and shamelessly has a blast in the master villain role. His adversary, cagily underplayed by Denzel Washington, has been upgraded in civil-service rank but also demoted on suspicion of taking a bribe. This colors the dynamics of the dialogue between Washington at his control-center console and Travolta on the motorman's microphone aboard the stalled train.
So far, so reasonably good. But the director's trademark tactics keep getting between, well, everything. From the get-go, the visuals are subjected to pointless and irritating stutter effects, speeding-up/slowing-down, gratuitous camera movement, and the interposition of dirt- or light-smeared panes of glass between the camera and people we'd appreciate a clear lookat. The 1974 movie settled for one police car being wrecked as the ransom is rushed uptown; Scott requires multiple collisions, each the occasion for police cruisers taking Lethal Weapon-style flight. The hostages in the earlier film were wittily individuated, a multicultural group portrait of the city at that mid-'70s moment; the ones on Scott's train--and also Travolta's fellow perpetrators, including that wonderful character actor Luis Guzmán--barely register. On the upside, John Turturro and James Gandolfini shine as two guys who (like the actors themselves) are very good at their jobsârespectively playing a hostage negotiator and His Honor, the mayor. The screenplay by Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential,Mystic River) strives intelligently, if formulaically, to add new dimensions to the main characters and to offer its own gloss on the current economic meltdown.--Richard T. Jameson

The router worked fine. I spent three whole days trying to get the director/conductor to work. They wouldn't. I spent over 9 hours with three different tech support people at Linksys and still couldn't get it to work. It has been THE most frustrating experience with consumer electronics I've ever had and I've had some doozies.
Bottom line - I sent them back. Bought a Sonos system. It took 15 minutes to set up. It'w worked flawlessly. I'm using my iTouch to control it and it works better than ths Cisco controller and costs the same.
Obviously others have had a better experience, but if you look on AVS forum you'll find a lot of others had the same issues I did.
good luck』
(Awesome!!!) 『For a while I was looking for a way to stream all my music through the house and also have access to international radio stations without having to use my laptop to listen to them. This is a wonderful alternative to the Sonos Audio System. It is less expensive compared to Sonos, very easy to install, and I didn't even need the ipod accesory since I have my itunes library on my time capsule and the Linksys director was able to read it and access my tunes. Just make sure to install the cd first and follow the instructions exactly because I tried to skip a step configuring it wirelessly and I wasn't able to. RadioTime is awesome! Also make sure you get the kit (with speakers) otherwise the director alone won't do it unless you have other speakers around the house that you can connect to the standard output cables.』 『The director - wireless-N music player is designed to enable any sound system or speakers to play your digital music. It's a great way to give your home theater or high-end sound systems the ability to access and play your digital music library without wires. Or build a wireless system from scratch. With its built-in 50-watt per channel amplifier, the director can power any stand-alone speakers. With its compact design and elegant styling, the director fits and looks great in any room.』

Seagate
Usually ships in 3 to 5 weeks Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Problems with Windows 7) 『This drive worked great with Windows Vista (one of the few things that worked great with Vista), but I am having problems since upgrading to Windows 7.
I am using a firewire connection. So far, the only way to get the drive to work is to either uninstall the driver and reboot windows, or unplug the power cord and plug it back in. This works, but after a while, Windows stops seeing the drive again.
Microsoft has been of no help (surprise), but Seagate tech support has responded to email. I will update this review when there is a status change.
11/21/2009 This is a follow up on the status of this drive.
Seagate has ended up being of very little help. In fact, the only thing they really did was blame the computer manufacture, and finally, Microsoft. Consequently, I ended up updating all software (bios, etc) available for the computer and everything available from Microsoft (drivers, etc). None of these steps helped.
When I told Seagate about the steps I had performed, they still tried to blame anything, and everything, except the hard drive. Even after I ran a diagnostic program that indicated the drive was faulty, they denied anything was wrong with the drive.
Finally, I insisted that I wanted a replacement, and they agreed. They were not the least bit friendly about this. Now, I get to ship the drive back to Seagate at my expense. In addition, they will not ship a replacement until they receive the old drive.
This is the second defective Seagate drive I have gotten in just over two years. I would think twice about purchasing this drive, or any other Seagate product.
I will update this posting when I get the new drive. 』
(So far so good) 『Got mine 1.5TB extreme 11th sept. so far no problems, working perfectly. With Firewire and USB has stable connection, down side you can't connect 2 pc's at the same time. all together 5-』
(Fairly simple to use, okay build quality, very nice warranty.) 『Let me preface my review by stating that I received this drive as a certified refurbished model from Seagate as a warranty replacement. Given that the old drive was over 2 years old and only 750 GB I don't feel much like complaining.
The drive enclosure itself is plastic. It feels sturdy enough, but my previous one was aluminum and had great heat dissipation. Since this drive does not include a fan I am moderately concerned for its long term durability, especially when transferring huge blocks of data at a time. It has a fairly loud wind up noise when you first plug it in, but afterward you'll only ever hear a whispering hum for the most part.
The software appears to be simple enough to use. The encryption feature seems a bit too open for my tastes, but that's what Truecrypt is for. The software also includes a diagnostic test for the drive which somehow thought my drive was failing every other day. After several sweeps using Windows disk check and a few third party programs I suspect that it's wrong. The backup feature is fairly simple to use, and I had no problems with it when I had it installed.
The 5 year warranty that they offer is quite nice. I'm not sure of any other manufacturer that has such a lengthy warranty for an external drive. The warranty process is fairly simple and consists of inputting a few minor details and the drive serial number into their website. The drive they'll send back is refurbished (which seems to be the industry standard), and if they don't have the exact model you sent them they'll probably upgrade you (which they did for me). You can also pay $20 to have them ship the new drive over to you with 2 day shipping allowing you to backup the data on your old drive and wipe out the data for your security.
Overall a pretty good drive, and great warranty.』
(1 Star... Really!?) 『The ONLY reason someone would give this a 1 star is because theyre biased. This HDD works perfect. Works Over seas in the dust/sand/dirt. Its quiet. Plenty of ports. Have had mine a few months now. Works perfectly. No reason to give this other than 5 stars... None.』
(Great drive...) 『Unlike the Toshiba with SATA interface that I returned two of to Best Buy because I thought the first one was defective, This drives SATA interface actually works.
...and research has turned up the fact that what many are calling the "Click of Death," for this drive is normal due to the different way that it operates.
I've had this one a month with no problems.』 『With its huge capacity and the fastest file transfer speeds today, the Seagate FreeAgent XTreme storage solution helps you easily safeguard all your photos, music, videos, and documents and access them with maximum performance. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Missing Manual) 『This book is what it says - The missing Manual. The writting sryle and screen clips makes it easy to learn everything you need to know to be proficient with the itunes/ipod products. (its ok) 『there was a lot on there that I already knew. I guess it really was ment for a NEW iPod user. I wish I had it when I first started to use my iPod. But its is useful.』
(Just a fine, fine manual) 『This book is really excellent. I bought it the first time I saw it in a brick bookstore, a few weeks after buying the frustrating "The iPod&iTunes PocketGuide", and this has been an absolute pleasure. On a word-by-word basis it is nice reading and quite clear. On the basis of its large scale organization, it works well. Moreover, it has many small illustrations, and all of them are the right size and with the right detail to make their point well - none seemed gratuitous.
I keep hearing what great products Apple makes, and I like my Nano very much, but - what were they thinking when they didn't write this book and put it in the box?!』
(voice memos not mentioned) 『For my fairly narrow purpose this book was a complete waste of money. The book did not mention voice recording, nor the fact that microphones are available. When one of these is connected to the dock-connector, the option "Voice memos" appears on the main menu. After the iPod is synchronized by a computer's iTunes, those Voice memos appear in the iPod's playlist named Voice memos.』

Set Up Multiple iTunes Libraries
Many households have just one computer for the whole family. Wouldn't it be great if everyone had a personal iTunes library? To use multiple libraries, follow these steps: 1.Quit iTunes 2. Hold down the Shift [Option] key on your PC or Mac keyboard and launch iTunes. In the box that pops up, click Create Library and give it a name.
3. iTunes opens up, but with a blank library with nothing in it.If you have music in your main library that you want to move over to this one, choose File-->Add to Library. 4. Navigate to the music you want and add it.If the songs are in your original library, they're probably in My Documents-->My Music-->iTunes-->iTunes Music [Home-->Music-->iTunes-->iTunes Music] in folders sorted by Artist name. Choose the files you want and add. To switch between libraries, just hold down the Shift [Option] key when you're starting iTunes, and you'll get a box that lets you pick the one you want. (The program opens the last library if you don't choose one.) Tracks from CDs you rip go into whatever library's open. And now that you have those songs in this library, you can switch back to the other one and get rid of them there.
Change a Song's Start and Stop Times
Got a song with onstage chitchat before it starts or after the music ends? Fortunately, you don't have to sit there and listen. You can a change a song's start and stop times so you hear only the juicy middle part. As you play the song you want to adjust, observe the iTunes status display window; watch for the point in the timeline where you get bored. Then: 1. Click the track you want to adjust. 2. Choose File-->Get Info to call up the song's information box. 3. Click the Options tab and take a look at the Stop Time box, which shows the full duration of the song. 4. Enter the new stopping point for the song, as you noted earlier. You can perform the exact same trick at the beginning of a song by adjusting the time value in the Start Time box.
Move the iTunes Music Folder to an External Drive
Media libraries grow and hard drives shrink as thousands of song and videos fill up the space. You may be thinking of getting a big external hard drive to use for iTunes storage, and if so, make sure iTunes knows what you intend to do. If you rudely drag the iTunes Music folder to a different place without telling iTunes, it thinks the songs and videos in your collection are gone. The next time you start the program, you'll find it empty. To move the iTunes Music folder to a new drive, just let the program know where you're putting it. Move the folder to the desired location, then, in the Preferences box, click the Advanced icon or tab. In the area labeled "iTunes Music folder location," click the Change button, and navigate to the place where you moved the folder. Finally, click OK.
Make a Genius Playlist in iTunes
With the Genius feature, you click any song that you're in the mood for and iTunes brings back a playlist of 25 to 100 songs that it thinks go well with the one you picked. Here's the procedure: 1. Click a song title in your library. 2. Click the Genius button at the bottom of the iTunes window. 3. iTunes presents you with your new playlist in a flash. 4. Use the buttons at the top of the Genius window to adjust the number of songs in the playlist, refresh it with new songs if you want a different mix, and--best of all--save the playlist permanently.
Make Playlist Folders
If you like to have a playlist or five for every occasion, but find your iTunes Source list is getting crowded, iTunes lets you store multiple playlists inside convenient folders. 1. To add a folder to your Source list, click the Source list's Library icon and then choose File-->New Playlist Folder. 2. A new "untitled folder" appears, inviting you to change it's name to something more original. 3. Drag any playlists you want to store inside the folder onto its icon. If the whole family shares one computer, folders can give each person a tidy receptacle to store his or her personal playlists. Folders are also great for storing a bunch of playlists that go well together. That way, when you select the folder and hit play, iTunes plays all the folder's songs consecutively.
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (VRDMC5 Warning) 『I bought this thing intending to take my family's slides and put them onto DVD's for preservation and ease of handling. I copied 200 slides onto a memory card and copied the memory card onto a DVD with no problems and great speed. When I looked at the DVD, I found that none of the images were in order. I began looking for a way to correct this, and found none. I therefore contacted SONY and explained the situation. I told them that it's sort of silly to make a DVD of a vacation, for example, and then find all the images out of order.
Sony's answer via live chat was that this is what the unit is designed to do and there is no way to change it. Unfortunately, I've had this thing too long to ship it back.
It copys minidv tapes with no problems, as far as I can tell, but it really stinks for still images if you care at all about having them in order. I would recommend this to no one.

I am very happy with my purchase and am sure you would be also. I have not used it yet to download pictures from my camera card but am sure it will be as easy as the video. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Good if your under 5 foot) 『Bought this product after reading another review where the person said it fit him and he was 6 foot 3. Being thin and the same height, I figured it would be a safe purchase. Tried it on and the jacket only came down to my waist and was to small to close. Another thing to note is that the jacket is not a jacket but is a pull-over that ties shut around your neck to simulate a jacket.』
(Great costume) 『I purchased the Buddy the Elf costume (largest size they offer) for my husband who is 6'3. The costume looked great on but the quality of fabric is not the best and the belt was huge. I think it was a great costume and my husband received a lot of compliments on his look. Not sure if it is worth $40 but it serves its purpose and we got lots of laughs.』
(Worst Halloween Purchase Ever) 『I just bought this Buddy the Elf costume and it is the biggest mistake I could have made. I am sick to my stomach to think that I just paid over 40 dollars for this P.O.S. thats going to sit in my closet this Halloween and for Halloweens to come. Maybe I can pawn it off on someone since there aren't returns on Halloween costumes from the store I bought it from.
What's wrong with it? EVERYTHING. The "tights" are more like cheap baggy polyester foot pajamas that are too short.. The slit in the front goes up to the navel.. The costume doesn't close like a jacket, it goes over like a shirt and closes in the back with a cheap velcro closure that doesn't lie flat but makes the fabric in the back bulge out giving the impression the wearer is a hunchback... the belt is HUGE.. it's meant to be worn on the waist and cinch the "jacket" yet is literally GIANT.. There is nothing redeeming about this sham of a costume, the shade of green is even worse in person.. if they skinned the Grinch and made a jacket out of his fur that would be this costume.. PASS ON THIS ONE I wish I had.』
(Over, great buy) 『Great costume. Got here on the expected day. Looks like the real thing. My only complaint is that the tights are kind of iffy. They feel as if they're always going to rip. Unlike pants, these tights are elastic at the waste and cover all the way to the toes. Since they were kind of short on me (I'm 6' 3")...i decided to cut off the ends of the feet so they fit better. But overall, very worth it』 『This fun Buddy costume includes a green fleece jacket with gold yellow accents and white cuffs&collar, matching cone style eft hat, long yellow pants with elastic waistband and closed toes (says tights on package), and black belt with gold color buckle. Buddy Wig sold separately. Shoes not included. This is an officially license The ElfTM costume.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Great!) 『Good quality, and the Serenity logo isn't cracking or fading after a couple of years.』
(I was drooling when it came................) 『*dabs mouth with napkin* Eh hem... This was the best Firefly "fix" I'd gotten in a while. I love the fabric, which is nicer than any of my other T-shirts, and the logo is awesome! everybody loves the Serenity logo, and most of us browncoats can just see it fading in then backing off as the camera pans around the ship.... All I can say is, of all the firefly shirts i've ever seen, most very creative and funny, this was my favorite because of its basic quality and simplicity and elemental browncoatness. In my apoinion this should be up there with the Firefly box-set on the list of what every browncoat needs. Thanks Universal for making our dreams come true, and Joss for well, Browncoatism and um I don't knwo, the best TV series EVER!!!!!! BUY THIS T-SHIRT. I'm done, and am off to watch my box-set while wearing my t-shirt and playing with dinosaurs (i made that last part up). We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty!
P.S. I wanted to give this a 6/5 stars, but I could only go up to five.......』
(Great shirt) 『I love this shirt. It's got great graphics and it's nice and thin which is good for summer months here in Colorado. It's breathable. Some say it's too thin, and won't last through too many washes. I disagree. I have many shirts just like this one that have lasted me for years. Definitely worth buying!』 『Continuing where the prematurely cancelled "Firefly" series left off, the movie "Serenity" is a unique blend of western outlaw themes and sci-fi adventure. Captain Mal Reynolds and the crew of the Serenity elude both the law and deadly Reavers on a mission to discover the truth about what killed a planet on the edge of space. "Browncoats", the passionate fans of the series have helped make the movie a success and this Serenity Logo t-shirt a bestseller. Standard mens size tee. Shoulder-to-shoulder taped, sleeve and bottom hem are double-needled. 100% cotton. Officially licensed.』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Looks great, doesn't fit) 『This hat looks perfect. But I measured my head according to the size chart and ordered the nearest one, a Medium. Even allowing for the fact that the hat is fairly rigid, it was too small. So I returned it (at my expense)and got the next size larger, a Large. It was too big and would blow right off. Returned that one and Amazon was generous in crediting me for the return postage.
I still like the look but my size, apparently, doesn't work with this style hat. I later found another one that looks exactly the same in a retail store in a Large and it fits perfectly. So beware. If your size is between sizes, don't order this hat.』
(Accurate sizing information would have been helpful) 『While this is a quality hat at a great price, I am having extreme difficulty finding the correct size. The sizing information linked from the ordering page DOES NOT containg a Hat Sizing Chart. Using the sizing chart at the Dorfman company web site, I was led to believe that a Small would fit me. After receving the hat, it was clear that this sizing chart was VERY wrong, I couldn't even pull the hat over my head.
I decided to return the hat immediately (still waiting for that refund Amazon!) and order a Large, figuring that skipping up two sizes would take care of the discrepancy. The Large hat too did not fit me.. it's much closer, but still uncomfortable to wear.
Today I processed my second return in attempt to purchase a hat that fits me. I will order the XX Large as my last resort. I don't have a gargantuan cranium, I'm pretty average in stature. So I think it's safe to say that these hats run a bit on the small side.. info that the previous reviewer omitted in their endorsement.
I can't help but think that this unfortunate experience could have easily been avoided if an accurate sizing chart was actually provided on the ordering page, or at the manufacturer's website.』
(The best Indiana Jones-style hat!) 『
I previously ordered an Indiana Jones branded hat from another source, and it had the three inch brim. It looked more like a cowboy hat than an Indiana Jones hat. I then ordered the Dorfman brand hat on Amazon with the 2 1/2 inch brim, and it looks super! What a difference taking 1/2 inch off the brim makes! It looks exactly like the ones in the movies. Buyer should know that this hat is NOT soft and flexible! In fact it is quite hard, and can be creased and made to look awful if sat upon or otherwise crushed. If you are responsible enough to take care of a fine, quality hat, this is the one you want, because it looks SHARP, even dressy. I get compliments all the time, and hear even more from people who don't necessarily mean for me to hear their comments. If you just love the Indy look like I do, but don't want a cheap-looking floppy hat, This is the one you want. You won't be sorry. Huge heads run in my family, and hats that fit me are extremely hard to find. I usually have to wet and stretch hats to make them fit comfortably. These hats by Dorfman are available in sizes all the way up to XXXL, and you can link to a sizing chart from the ad page to determine your exact requirement. Awesome! The XXL fit My size 7 7/8 head perfectly! If you've been thinking of getting an Indy hat, I recommend this one for extreme good looks and quality construction. 』

It would be a bit more on course it there were more of a personal input from Mr. Walken. Oh there are a few quotes from him here&there, and of course, lots of outside observances of his supposed likes/dislikes. It's OK as far as an alphabetized movie listing. And it has its moments. I think it could be a lot more on target with the in put of very close friends and loving family.』

(The man, the myth, the legend) 『What a character! I thought this was a biography type book when I bought it at my wife's request (she's a bigger Walken fan than I am), but it's not. More an encyclopedic A-Z reference than a read-through, it is still very entertaining and well-written.
I enjoyed learning all the obscure trivia and recommend it. It is a little on the small side, but the man more than makes up for it!

It's actually a little smaller than most of the books on my shelf (the gold cover is nice though). But besides that it's great, fun little excerpts to just read about Christopher Walken... not something you'd read cover to cover, more of a reference book--something to keep out in a random place for sudden moments of boredom... pretty much exactly why I wanted it as a coffee table book』 『Over a career spanning 30+ years, Christopher Walken has generated an enormous cult following. Besides from the book, I would like to give a quick comment on the service from Amazon. There is thing bad/negative to say here. Choosing the "Expedited International Shipping" and being told it could take between 8-16 days before receiving the purchased item was no problem, but it was a delight to actually receive the item even before 8 days :) In less than a week I had the book in my hands :) (Don't know if this is common or not to happen, but happy none the less!)
- A happy buyer』
(Not the best) 『If you have read the Richard Knaak warcraft books, this will be a poor follow-up read to his trilogy and you will be left very disappointed. Golden's writing seems rushed, and if you blink or skip a paragraph you might miss a key component in the book. Not everyone plays the game, and I think handing this book to a non-warcraft person who likes to read fantasy will just confuse them. Too many gaps for non-players to fill in. And as someone who once played the game and quit a while back, I was a little confused myself in some parts.
Its an easy read, and I read it in a bout a day, but I think I would have preferred a larger volume that took more time, and was better filled out and well-rounded. I do normally enjoy the author's work, which makes this 2 star review hard to write.』
("Arthas" a flawed but memorable venture into Warcraft lore) 『I'm a huge fan of Blizzard Entertainment and the WarCraft universe in particular. I've read most of the WarCraft novels and stories to this point and am an avid World of Warcraft player, so when my copy of Arthas: Rise of the Lich King came in the mail I knew what to expect. Christie Golden, who wrote the equally superb Rise of the Horde and Lord of the Clans, detailing Thrall and the orcish Horde, weaves a masterful tale of WarCraft's currently most prominent villain in Arthas. At about 300 pages, the book could stand to be a little longer but most of it moves at a fair pace. The biggest flaw of the novel is not Golden's fault but simply a caveat of writing a book about a character who's latter portion of life was already covered extensively in Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and the expansion, The Frozen Throne. Quite simply, the second half of Arthas is almost entirely a retelling of those games with some additional details and background thrown in. This is not a horrible thing, seeing as those games tell a great story and the action often shifts from Arthas in them, whereas in the novel we get to entirely focus on the fallen prince. But if you've played those games, a lot of it will seem rehashed...but still interesting, I assure you, as we get to bear witness to Arthas' inner struggles with Frostmourne.
Where the book really shines is the opening 100 pages or so, and the very end (which I will not spoil here). While Warcraft 3 introduces us to Arthas when he is a fully grown man and already investigating the rumors of the undead plague, "Arthas: Rise of the Lich King" takes the reader all the way back to the events of Warcraft 2, when Arthas was but a wide-eyed, easily embarrassed 9-year old child. Through the beginning, we get to see for the first time his interaction with big time lore characters such as Varian Wrynn, Jaina Proudmoore, Uther the Lightbringer, and Muradin Bronzebeard...all when Arthas was just a boy. For example, we never got to see twelve year old Arthas and Jaina meeting for the first time, sharing an adventure and wishing they could spend more time together before Jaina must depart. The venture into Arthas' childhood and teenage years are perhaps the most compelling portion of Golden's novel, mainly because it deepens the impact of Arthas' later actions and his fall from grace.
So, if you're a fan of WarCraft and its lore, do yourself a favor. At the very least, find a way to get your hands on a copy and read it. You'll appreciate Arthas as a villain and as a character in World of Warcraft much more after doing so; you will gain valuable insight into his childhood and how he was shaped by it, as well as the relationships he has with some of the biggest names in WarCraft lore today; and lastly, if you're a WoW player like myself, you'll definitely enjoy the upcoming encounter with Arthas in Icecrown Citadel that much more.

(terrible) 『I disliked reading this book. As I'm an avid Warcraft player and lover of fantasy fiction I saw this as a must read and was excited about the novel as I read up on it on the World of Warcraft homepage. However, it was one of the worst reads that I've ever finished. The characters have no development, the plot makes little sense, and the only reason to read this would be for Warcraft players like myself that are curious about the story behind the game. The game is still awesome and I love playing it and cannot wait for the next expansion. For great fantasy fiction I would recommend checking out anything by Brandon Sanderson (amazing), Brent Weeks, George r.r. Martin, Robin Hobb, along with the older stuff (that I grew up on) like Robert Jordan, David Eddings, and RA Salvatore. That being said I do plan to continue to read every World of Warcraft book out there in hopes something good appears - I spend so much time playing that game after all that I can't help myself but to anyone asking for a recommendation that isn't going to automatically read anything with World of Warcraft on the front - avoid this one.』
(Beutifully written novel!) 『Hey, first of all, I want to mention I got the book like 10 days after I ordered it, which is quite amazing, since I live in Israel. Thank you Amazon, for your fast delivery!
Second, I started reading the book last week and i'm enjoying every minute of it!
it's written in a very interesting and easy-to-read manner, which makes it fun to read. Maybe i'll come back after I finish in a few more days, if not, just know, all you Warcraft fans out there - this book is WORTH IT!
thanks for reading (and Christie Golden for writing!) my comment, Adam.
hey again. editing after finished the book. It was great, just as I suspected! very recommended to all you Warcraft lore fans out there!』 『Frostmourne.
It was caught in a hovering, jagged chunk of ice, the runes that ran the length of its blade glowing a cool blue. Below it was a dais of some sort, standing on a large gently raised mound that was covered in a dusting of snow. A soft light, coming from somewhere high above where the cavern was open to daylight, shone down on the runeblade. The icy prison hid some details of the sword's shape and form, exaggerated others. It was revealed and concealed at the same time, and all the more tempting, like a new lover imperfectly glimpsed through a gauzy curtain. Arthas knew the blade -- it was the selfsame sword he had seen in his dream when he first arrived. The sword that had not killed Invincible, but that had brought him back healed and healthy. He'd thought it a good omen then, but now he knew it was a true sign. This was what he had come to find. This sword would change everything. Arthas stared raptly at it, his hands almost physically aching to grasp it, his fingers to wrap themselves around the hilt, his arms to feel the weapon swinging smoothly in the blow that would end Mal'Ganis, end the torment he had visited upon the people of Lordaeron, end this lust for revenge. Drawn, he stepped forward.
The uncanny elemental spirit drew its icy sword. "Turn away, before it is too late," it intoned.

His evil is legend. Lord of the undead Scourge, wielder of the runeblade Frostmourne, and enemy of the free peoples of Azeroth. The Lich King is an entity of incalculable power and unparalleled malice -- his icy soul utterly consumed by his plans to destroy all life on the World of Warcraft.
But it was not always so. Long before his soul was fused with that of the orc shaman Ner'zhul, the Lich King was Arthas Menethil, crown prince of Lordaeron and faithful paladin of the Silver Hand.
When a plague of undeath threatened all that he loved, Arthas was driven to pursue an ill-fated quest for a runeblade powerful enough to save his homeland. Yet the object of his search would exact a heavy price from its new master, beginning a horrifying descent into damnation. Arthas's path would lead him through the arctic northern wastes toward the Frozen Throne, where he would face, at long last, the darkest of destinies.』
