『I just bought my second power popper. I had the first one for at least twelve years before something melted onto it making it unusable. If not for that, I'd have had it lot longer.
I like it because you can make air popped corn, that is without oil. It's less greasy and less fattening that way. But you can use oil if that's what you want. I like this better than other types of air poppers,also, because it's not as messy.』

(Great workout - a few tips)

『First, you need to know this DVD was released in 1998 or so and isn't a super-fancy disc. There aren't any subtitles and it's difficult to skip around. There are 17 sections in the workout, and I've read where some people complain that you have to watch everything and can't skip.

You can't skip chapters, but you can fast-forward through a chapter by hitting>>a few times (2x - 30x) and it will skip to the end of each section and stop at the next section's title. So you really don't have to watch Sarah Jessica Parker's intro every time. You can also do individual exercises by going to the Exercises section.

Second, I've found after 6 weeks of consistent use that it's better to do as much of the workout every day as you can. I've made the mistake of skipping the ab work, and it is harder to balance if you do that. The ab conditioning reminds you where your muscles are and helps you pull up correctly.

For anyone who has never had ballet (or like me, last had it around 4th grade), try Classical Stretch on PBS for a couple weeks before you do this. You'll get a good foundation in some ballet concepts without having to know much, the stretches will be familiar, and you'll have an easier time standing on one leg. I had trouble following the warmups too, so I did them every day regardless of whatever workout I did till I got better. I still mess them up but the point is warming up. You aren't being judged.

If you're just jumping in for the first time ever in ballet, just try to follow along and remember that your entire body needs to be engaged for the center and leg work (chapters 9-16). If you slouch or let your abs go or don't hold your bum just right, you won't be able to balance as well. Part of the work of doing the workout is learning this stuff and it doesn't all happen at once or even after a few months. If you need pointers on this try checking out this page: [...]- it won't all make sense, but just try to keep your body pulled up while you're working. This will also help you to avoid getting injured. You want to use your muscles rather than momentum. You'll be able to think less about what you're doing and relax into the workout more.

I am completely in love with this workout. My balance, coordination, strength and posture have improved dramatically. I've lost inches and my clothes are looser and I sit and stand straighter with less effort. I love that it's divided into sections so you get a small break in between the work. The work is efficient and thorough and you feel relaxed and strong after.

You don't have to be interested in dancing to do this workout - I'm not, particularly. But if you do it regularly and work on the details of doing each move correctly, you'll be stronger, leaner, and feel great. Just don't push too hard and be careful to do the moves as correctly as you can. It's better to be correct and not turned out than to force a turnout and put torsion on your knees.

Anyway. This workout gets my vote.』

『I thought this would be easy - boy, was I wrong! It works out muscles you didn't even know you had. I have a new appreciation for professional dancers. I can tell the difference in my posture after two weeks. I recommend this for anyone looking for a change of pace from the "regular" workout routine.』

『I generally wake up at 4:30 in the morning to exercise. When I bought this video it was such a dissapointment! The workouts themselves were fine. It reminded me of ballet class. The transitions between each sequence were frusterating. They didn't flow. The lighting was dark and depressing. If they expected me to finish the whole video, then it should have been cheerier. Instead I was in a sour mood for the rest of the day.』

『We bought this for our 18 month old, and it was a great introduction for learning numbers.

One of the things I like about it, is the puppets count objects, so there is a meaning to each number, not just a sequence. Between this and the number puzzles we use, our daughter, now 25 months has a good understanding of numbers, their order, and what they mean.

She also loves the puppets, and the different scenes keep her engaged in learning.』

Indeed,it is mostly entertainment as the numbers one through five will be mastered in very short order there by making it pure entertainment. Save your money and buy Richard Scary's Best Counting Video Ever. It is just as entertaining (if not more so) and goes to number 20, with lots of cute dialogue that babies love. Similarly, check out Leap Frog Letter Factory (for letters) and Trebellina (for music). You won't be disappointed.』

Although the numbers nursery says that it goes 1-5; there is a special tab on the menu that shows a video for numbers 1-10. My daughter is 16 months and is able to say and recognize numbers 1-10. Of course we worked with her individually but the numbers nursery video is also a great asset as well. It is an extension of what you are already doing with your child. DEFINITELY BUY THIS VIDEO. 『"The Sword in the Stone" is a nice little Disney picture. Animated and only 79 minutes long, it is ... just right ... for those of us whose attention spans are easily challenged.

This movie is adapted from a book of the same title (written by T.H. White). Mr. White's book follows the early life of a famous British folklore hero, King Arthur (a legendary monarch of the 6th century). Bill Peet, the Disney story writer who wrote the adaptation, took the book and picked this, chose that, and changed this a little, and, in the end, did an outstanding job of producing a screen play that is funny and enjoyable.

According to the story, a sword is magically thrust deep into an anvil that sits on top of a large stone. It is decreed (on the sword itself) that who-so-ever is able to remove the sword from the stone shall be anointed king of England. Many men try ... but they all fail. Then, after a long time has passed, a youth named Arthur appears on the scene and, miraculously, he pulls the sword from the stone ... and then is made ruler over all of England.

The story also includes another legendary character ... Merlin the magician. Merlin is wise, powerful ... and dotty. He foresees the arrival of the twelve year old Arthur and he feels that it is fore-ordained for him, Merlin, to be the boy's teacher/mentor/companion to guide the lad toward some mysterious destiny.

Merlin, Arthur, and Merlin's pet owl Archimedes (who can talk) then embark on three magical adventures ... afterwhich the movie moves swiftly to the dramatic moment of Arthur and the sword.

The writing for "The Sword in the Stone" is good. No trouble is too serious or too scary and the trouble scenes are never drawn out. The bad guys (and bad creatures) are never allowed to win too much and our heroes are never allowed to lose too much. The importance of education is emphasized, but not over-emphasized. The story moves along at a comfortable pace, and all the scenes are believable ... in-as-much-as the behavior and reactions of the characters are plausible and credible. And there is a delicate charm and some depth of goodness in there too. Incidentally, Merlin is given some pretty good lines to speak, and the squirrel scene is delightful.

The voice characterizations in "The Sword in the Stone" are very good. Karl Swenson provides the voice of Merlin, and he is wonderful. Junius Matthews does the voice for Archimedes the owl, and he is superb also. But the portrayals of the bad guys (often considered plum roles by actors and actresses; ones that they relish playing) in "The Sword in the Stone" are also done exceptionally well and they add a great deal of strength to the movie. Sebastian Cabot provides the voice for Arthur's boisterous and self-important master Sir Ector ... and this would be the refined, articulate, and dignified Sebastian Cabot ... and he is very convincing as the crass and uncouth Ector. Norman Alden uses his voice talents to portray Sir Ector's son Kay, and he also does an excellent job. Kay is an ill-mannered oaf, but after watching "The Sword in the Stone" a few times you begin to appreciate the good job Alden does ... with a minimum of lines ... in making this crude and rude character come to life. Martha Wentworth does the voice of the evil Madame Mim ... and she is a real treat. Madame Mim absolutely delights in the macabre, and Wentworth seems to have absolutely delighted in playing her.

All in all, "The Sword in the Stone" gives us some pretty good entertainment and is deserving of repeated viewings.

『Great for you kids. My boy loves the movie, and you'll probably get a more positive message from this type of movies, other than modern kids movies』

『I was so glad to see the Sword in the Stone Anniversary edition available, I had missed it when it sold in the stores and my 4 year old grand-daughter fell in love with it...now when she comes to Grandma's house, she picks out that movie to watch, just like her mommy!!』

(The ending could have been better)

『The Sword in the Stone is one hour and nineteen minute long and made its movie debut on December 25, 1963. The movie tells the story of a young boy named Arthur who would become future king of all England. The movie opens with the death of King Uther Pendragon dies and leaving no heir to the throne. There is a Sword in the Stone in London with the inscription the reads "that whoever pulls it out is the rightful King of England." Many men tried to pull the sword but failed. The sword is left there for years and forgotten. Fast forward to a number of years and Kay and Arthur (also known as Wart), who are foster brother, are on a hunting trip in the woods. Arthur causes Kay to miss the deer he was going to kill. Kay winds up shooting the arrow into the woods. Kay is angry with Wart and gives chase. Wart runs into the woods to retrieve Kay's arrow. Arthur finds Kay's arrow in a tree and when he tries to retrieves it falls through a hay roof and lands in Merlin's home. Merlin is tells Arthur that he has a great future ahead and takes it upon himself to tutor the young boy. The two head to Arthur's foster father home and at first Ector refuse to let Merlin stay. After Merlin causes a blizzard in the summer, Ector relents and gives him the guest quarters. Merlin and Archimedes (Merlin's talking and educated owl companion) would be the two who would educate the two. One day while Wart, Merlin and Archimedes are taking a walk around the castle, Merlin turns Wart into a fish as well as himself so they both can explore what lies beneath lake. Merlin teaches Wart how to swim like a fish and during the learning period they come across a pike fish (a fish with teeth). Merlin gets caught in a helmet and is unable to come to the boy's rescue. Arthur has to defend for himself and at one point is able to trap the pike. It is Archimedes who saves Arthur and Merlin emerges from the moat as a human and changes Arthur back into a boy. When Arthur tries to tell Ector and Kay what he has experience but the both don't what Arthur is saying. Ector gives him six demerits and sends Wart to the kitchen for cleaning duties to work off the demerits. Later that day Merlin appears and asks Arthur if he would like to be a squirrel. Arthur would like to but tells Merlin he can't because he has to work off his demerits. Merlin cast a spell in the kitchen so the dishes can clean themselves and the two head out to the woods to become squirrels. They both encounter the opposite sex and try to shake them off. While trying to escape from the female squirrel, Arthur gets his tail stuck in a branch and a wolf heads after Arthur. The female squirrel comes to the rescue and the wolf falls into a river below the cliff. Both Merlin and Arthur become human again and the female leave crying. When Arthur arrives back at the castle back at the castle Ector accuses Merlin of using black magic to wash the dishes and Merlin vanish into thin air. Arthur defends Merlin but Ector punish the boy and tells Kay that a new squire is going to London with him. Later that evening Merlin appears and tells Arthur that he is sorry but things can only look up and that starting tomorrow his education will begin. At Merlin's quarters, it is discovered that Arthur can't read or write and Archimedes winds up teaching the boy to read and write. During spelling lesson Merlin tries to fly a model airplane but his long beard causes the plain to crash. Archimedes is beside himself with laughter and Arthur looks out the window and wonders what it is like to fly. Merlin turns Arthur into sparrow and Merlin and Archimedes quarrel over who would be a better teacher to teach Arthur how to fly. Archimedes wins the debate and during the course of his lesson a giant hawk gives chase to those two. Arthur falls down a chimney shaft while trying to escape from the hawk. Arthur winds up at Mad Madam Mim's cottage. Mim find that Merlin has an interest in the boy and that is bad in her mind. It is during this time that Archimedes flies back to alert Merlin on what has happen to the boy. Just as Mim was about to eat Arthur, Merlin arrives to rescue the boy. Mim challenges Merlin to a Wizard's Duel. During the duel Mim cheats and turns into a dragon and captures Merlin. It is Merlin who has the laugh last. Merlin turns himself into a rare germ that makes Mim breaks out into spots and suffers from hot and cold flashes. Merlin wins the duel and the trio head back to the castle. It is late winter and the boy who replaces Arthur as Kay's squire comes down with the mumps. Ector tells Arthur that he is now Kay's squire. Arthur rushes to tell Merlin about the news, but is so upset with Wart that he accidently shoots himself to 20th century Bermuda. At the tournament Arthur tells Kay that he left his sword at the inn. Arthur heads back to the inn to get Kay's sword, but the in is lock. Archimedes sees a sword in a stone and pulls it out of the anvil. Arthur heads back to the tournament to give Kay the sword. Kay realizes it is not his sword and Ector realizes it is the Sword in the Stone. Ector asks Wart where he got the sword and Wart tries to explain. The crowd head back to the place where the sword came from. Ector puts the sword back into the anvil and just as Wart is about to pull the sword Kay pushes him aside and tries to pull it out himself. Several other men gather around to try to pull the sword but fail in their attempts. It is Sir Bart says let give the boy a try. Wart goes to the stone and pulls the sword from it. Sir Bart asks for the boy names and tells him it is Arthur. Sir Bart yells "Hail!! King Arthur!!" In the closing scene Arthur convinces himself that he is not ready to be king and tries to escape but is unable to. Arthur cries out for Merlin and Merlin enters the movie again saying the 20th century is a mess and they can have it. Archimedes tells Merlin the Arthur has pulled the sword from the stone and he is now king of all England. The films end with Merlin telling Arthur's future and his Knights of the Round Table and the picture fades with Merlin trying straightening a crown that is too big for Arthur. This movie would be the last movie release when Walt Disney was alive. Walt would be involved with the Jungle Book but died a few days before it release. Overall the movie is good but I just thought the ending could have been better. The Sword in the Stone gets a B+.

『Loved this movie as a kid and bought it for some younger brothers. Its nice to see the next genertation still like the classic disney films.』

White's beloved novel, this Disney-fied version chronicles the tutoring of the Once and Future King, Arthur, as handled by the magician Merlin.Swordwas a portent of things to come, with slapstick upbraiding storytelling, and cultural in-jokes substituting for wonder. But there's much to enjoy here as Merlin shows Newt, the young Arthur, things that will help him become the ruler of the Britons. The transformation sequences, where the boy is turned into a fish, a bird, and a squirrel are vintage Disney. The oft-repeated scene of Merlin battling it out with the mean old Madame Mim still is worth a few chuckles, but it belies the problem with most of the film--the scenes are only there for the chuckles. References by Merlin to television and other items of modern life also mar the generally innocuous landscape. Children will like it, but they won't cherish it.--Keith Simanton』

(A film even this dream team could not improve on!)

『I have always WANTED to like this movie but I cannot give more than three stars to a film whose ponderous,plodding and overly complicated plot is to blame for its'lacklustre results.It has much in common with "White Christmas" whose talent-heavy cast(including Bing)also could not pull things off and rise above the poor plot.It proves the old adage "If a movie is bad...it's BAD";despite its' stars.
The story here involves Fred as Ted and Bing as Jim as,literally,a couple of song and dance men.Their act includes Virginia Dale as Lila.Bing has become disillusioned with show biz and wants to retire to a farm in Connecticut and take Lila along.But Lila still has the show bug and seems to prefer Ted anyways,forcing Jim to "retire" alone.
Things don't go well for Jim who ends up in a sanitarium(!).After his recuperation he returns to his farm with the show biz bug back.He wants to turn it into a venue open only on holidays(thus the title).Ted and his agent wish him well during a visit Jim takes to New York.A little his agent,while ordering flowers for Lila from Ted,is pressed by the flower girl Marjorie Reynolds(Linda) for a chance to sing.The agent refers him to Jim's Inn and is invited next night to see Ted's act.Jim sits at the same table as Linda and they both pretend to be of a higher station than they are.Just before Ted and Lila come to join Jim Linda takes off.
The next day Linda arrives at the Inn and the ruse both played the night before is revealed.They strike up a friendship and Jim it seems has a new partner.Meanwhile Lila has left Ted for a millionaire and New years Eve Ted arrives at the Inn three sheets to the wind.He ends up doing a drunken dance with Linda.
However next day Ted's dance becomes the talk of the town and Ted,not recalling exactly what Linda looks like,is on a hunt for Linda.Jim however doesn't want another repeat like that of Lila,so a game of cat and mouse ensues with many near misses.Ted doesn't get his girl until Valentine's Day when he happens to walk in on Jim singing a song to Linda and she is dancing solo.Ted instinctively joins her and a new partnership is born,much to Jim's chagrin.
When some film studio types come to the Inn to see Ted and Linda for a possible film deal,Jim tries to sabotage the works by having Lila(she has now returned after dumping her millionaire!) delay her.In the end it is a delay of the inevitable as Linda and Ted fly to Hollywood and the producers want to do a picture about the Inn.While Linda and Ted fly out west,disgruntled Jim stays behind to sulk.
After a good talking to by his housekeeper Jim musters up the courage to fly out west and get back his girl.After the final shooting of the film Ted and Linda had planned to elope.But Jim's pipe on a set piano brings Linda's "real" feelings back and she and Jim are reunited for good.Ted is also reunited with Lila.Fade out.
Not only is the plot overly long,complicated and at times just too coincidental and improbable,it leaves you scratching your head at the enormous reserve Jim constantly shows at getting his girls taken right out from under his nose by Ted.Normally there would be some fisticuffs involved somewhere,but not here.And in typical Hollywood fashion there can't be any losers,especially between Bing and Fred,so both get a girl in the end.Not only couldn't the talent in front of the screen overcome the plot but Astaires' old RKO producer Mark Sandrich,couldn't help either.Also on hand was legendary Irving Berlin on the music front.On paper the film was a dream-teaming but in execution a sad let down.
The film DID however have two saving graces.First of all the music performed is great.The classic"White Christmas","Be Careful It's My Heart","Easter Parade" and "Happy Holidays".Secondly both stars were at the top of their game.Bing showed why he was one of the greatest vocalists of the 20th century.And of course Astaire once again proved why he was the best at what he did.
On the techinical side this movie has been remastered and done quite well.The picture is wonderfully crisp and alive.Included on the disc is a nice featurette with Ken Barnes(who produced Crosbys' last recordings) and Astaire's daughter Ava.Another short is on the making of the dance numbers in the movie.Also audio commentary is included along with the original trailer.
In conclusion as a holiday movie it is just a so so entry.The best thing are the stars which display their stellar talents as usual and the wonderful music.However even the heavy duty talent on hand in this pictures' production could not overcome the burdensome plot which leaves you wondering two things:"What happened?" and "If only...".』

『A spectacular boxed set of the Adventures of Dorothy and company in "The Wizard of Oz." Extras galore included. Highly recommended for children and adults of all ages!』

(A splendid updating on Blu-ray of one of the all-time classics)

『I give the new Blu-ray five stars despite being a little irritated with the lack of an option to buy a nice, single disc version of hte Blu-ray. I got all of the set through Netflix and saw it that way. I would very much like to won THE WIZARD OF OZ on Blu-ray, but I'm going to hold out for a less expensive single or two-disc edition. Mind you, I like the film; but that is what I like, the film not disc after disc of extras that for the most part are repackagings of earlier editions.OK, that is my beef, and having made it, let me move on.

The Blu-ray is a definite improvement in the overall quality of the film, though not as much as one might have hoped for if you have watched the DVD on a up-conversion DVD player. This is not a problem restricted merely to this. Most of the older classics seem to have reached the point of diminishing returns on DVD. Even epic films like John Ford's THE SEARCHERS shows minimal improvement on Blu-ray. Still, even if the improvement isn't as marked as on more recent films, it is still definite.

But frankly, I think I loved the movie just as much when I was a kid watching it on my parents' old black and white tube TV. We all know the story about the film these days, that it was a critical and box office failure when it first was released. And we know all the stories about it. Buddy Ebsen being forced to drop out of the project when the make up that was sprayed on him caused a serious lung reaction. How Judy Garland took over the role when a deal to trade Jean Harlow and Clark Gable to Warner Brothers for a film so that MGM could get Shirley Temple, a deal that fell through when Shirley Temple died. We know all the songs, all the skits, and a host of the lines. And most importantly we have experienced firsthand how the film became a hit years after its first release because of its annual showings on television, hosted by Olivia DeHavilland (which never made a great deal of sense to me, since he had no connection to the film and had spend her studio career with Warner Brothers rather than MGM). Television was responsible for THE WIZARD OF OZ being the hit it became. But despite its success in the television era, it is almost impossible to understand how it failed to become an instant classic. The songs are irresistible, the performances classic, and the art design unmatched at the time. Scene after scene is filled with one perfect touch after another, like a peacock that strolls around in the background when Dorthy and the Scarecrow meet the Tin Man for the first time. Or the way the Cowardly Lion's tail twitches all the time (it is a subtle effect, but imagine how static he would be if he tail always drooped). It is a beautifully structured film, marvelously photographed, and beautifully scripted. The entire production is magical.

And this is a film that generations share. I remember vividly the terror I felt as a child watching Dorothy's friends come after her in the witch's fortress. Nothing in my childhood scared me more than Later it was the first movie that I watched with my daughter on TV (barely verbal at the time, she for several weeks referred to the film as "Scary Apples," for obvious reasons). My daughter probably watched the movie on VHS a hundred times minimum, largely because Dorothy was at the time one of the few female heroes around (this was before the Era of Buffy), and when she and I were stranded on a ski lift that was stopped during a sudden lightening storm immediately outside Flagstaff, Arizona, I kept her calm by retelling the entire movie, no mean feat given the lightening flashing all around us (though thankfully there was little rain).

This truly is one of those classics that it is impossible to imagine going away. The film is, if anything, as popular today as it has ever been. And conversions of it into new media like this new Blu-ray will guarantee that each generation will continue to rediscover it.』

I had a few film buffs with me when we first viewed the Anniversary Digital Copy [Blue-ray] and what a difference it made. We all saw things for the first time that couldn't be seen in previous video viewings. Great!!!』

The 2009Wizard of OzUltimate Collector's Edition DVD has all of the material from the 2005 three-disc edition plus more. The first disc has the sharp 2005 restoration using Warner's Ultra Resolution process and an accompanying featurette on how it's done. The technicians also discuss how the sound was remixed, though that would have been more effective had it included surround-sound demonstrations (the featurette is in 2.0). Other features include a commentary track by critic John Fricke supplemented by vintage cast interviews (he offers a lot of trivia, and debunks the myth that Shirley Temple was ever close to getting the Dorothy role); profiles of nine cast members and clips of other movies they appeared in (including Toto); and the original mono track and a music-and-effects track. New for 2009 is a sing-along track that you can turn on as you watch the movie or you can select from 10 numbers to sing along with karaoke-style subtitles. The large box opens to reveal a 52-page bookBehind the Curtain of Production 1060with cast bios and production notes and photos, a copy of the film's budget, a 70th-anniversary watch, and a replica campaign booklet that was intended to hype the film's release to theater owners. It's a fascinating time capsule of advance publicity for a film that is still being watched and discussed 70 years later.--David Horiuchi

『It is a great movie. I recommend it. Remember that this movie is very sentimental. VERY sentimental. I give it a 4 instead of a 5 for a few reasons:
>>We never really get a feel for the scope of the game world (offline or online).
>>The film shows too much of Haseo's forehead while his epitaph is doing the fighting.
>>It would probably have given more closure to the ending if we could have seen some dialog with Aura. Instead, we only hear her voice.』

(Great Movie, but a little disappointing)

『This was a good movie, but trying to cram 3 video games into 1 theatrical feature was a bit too much. If you didn't play any of the .hack//G.U. video games then you might have a hard time figuring out the finer mechanics of what was going on in the movie. Many of the main characters weren't included like Sakubo and Endrance, only Haseo, Atoli, and Ovan used their epitaph powers, and several of the main enemies were over shadowed or not shown at all. Plus, it skipped most of the games key parts and pretty much remastered cut-senes to make most of the movie. Basically the movie focused only on Haseo, Atoli, and Ovan. Not that its a bad thing, but there was so much more than what was portrayed.

The graphics were amazing and the fight scenes were awsome.』

『To sum up 3 games into a 2 hour-ish segment is a hard thing to do. You have to make sure you include important parts, as well take out a lot of side story's to make the time frame.

Well they did this well, they took out some of the minor people (like piros the 3rd) and its about the main idea of the story. They changed some of the scenes from the games, but i like the change. It's a great movie, and a definite buy.

I have been a big .hack fan(all the games, animes, books, etc.) and i would get mad if they changed the story of one of the games for no point. Again it keeps the general idea, and they do it really well. It is one of my favorite movies now. A+ buy for fans of .hack, and fans of anime style movies.』

『This movie is a beauty from start to finish. It removes a lot of the story points but how else can you make a movie without it being 50-60 hours? Cramming three games into one movie seemed like a hard enough job. I'm only miffed a little cause Sakaki only seems like a nuisance and not a pain in the neck like he should be. The combat sequences are beautiful but do not dull the actual story unlike a spiky haired emo I know...

Haseo proves he's not angst and rage, though they do seem to get the job done for him. Well, until [This part is censored for plot relevance] and [see prior] and he proves [you get the idea] etc.

I had expected, with it being condensed and all, Ovan would be more direct. How wrong I was! He maintains his normal status, more so than the other characters.』

Though following the basics of the story from the games much is shortened, left out, or brushed past to progress to the main points. Side characters, plots, and enemies aren't present so if your expecting the game's story verbatim your in for a new experience. Which is what makes this so great. Your not getting the game watered down, your getting something new, something incredible, a true dot hack masterpiece.』
