『In 1996 I left the financial markets and set out for the clear skies and wide-open spaces of Vermont to pursue my vision of the perfect potato chip. Four years later, I have never looked back and have never eaten better! I first started by hand-slicing small batches of fresh New England potatoes into a small French-fry cooker I borrowed from a friend with a restaurant. (Excellent projector for the money)
『The reviewers who gave this projector one star clearly had support issues but from a technical perspective this is an excellent buy for the money. I have owned mine for over 2 years and changed the filter only once. The bulb is still going strong (1000+ hours). I've not had to deal with Sony support yet, and hope not to based on some of the reviews, but notwithstanding that issue I'd most certainly recommend this device.

Don't be put off because it isn't DLP...you won't care after seeing the image. There is a "screen door" effect with LCD projectors but if you're sitting the standard distance away from the screen, and the movie is good, you'll not notice. The ONLY time I see it is if I'm not interested in the movie. I tihnk the screen door effect is less of an issue than if you happen to be one of those people who see the "rainbow effect" with DLP projectors though. I project on a Vutec SiverStar screen by the way, which is a very good match.

I watch HDTV and it looks fantastic. I also play the XBOX 360 on it and again, fantastic.

(Best Video Projector Under 10k)
『The VPL-HS51 is the best video projector on the market for less than 10k. Far better than any DLP projector, since their is NO rainbow effect and once you see the DLP rainbow you will see this in every show.
Back to the HS51, I bought mine from Amazon one year ago and have 1,000 hours on the unit. NO problems, period. I do suggest running the projector in the LOW brightness setting since this will extend the bulb life. Also suggest using a PC UPS so if the power goes off, you can turn off the projector and the fan continues to run.
Since my room can be made 100% dark, I do not use a screen for the 9 foot HD picture. My wall is painted with SW extra white paint.
The HS51 has all the advanced features and inputs. Few projectors on the market have "lens shift" and the HS51 has two.

(Amazing TV, trick to help maintain it)
『We received this TV as a wedding gift for use in our 1 bedroom. After buying the screen (which takes up one whole wall) and a great sound system, we have the PERFECT home theater system for a young couple who entertains and enjoys movies. The picture quality is unbelievable (especially with HDMI)...to the point where we don't feel that impressed when we go to the theater to see movies. The TV easily adjusts to light differences and doesn't require total darkness to look fabulous: a sunny afternoon with the blinds drawn doesn't hurt the picture much, and that's saying a lot for a projector in this price range. We've now had it for a year and are in love with it.

One HUGE piece of advice with this TV, however, is to replace the filter very promptly every 2 months. We had a large scare 5 months into using it: the picture started dimming to the point of black, something popped loudly inside the projector (clearly the lamp), and it stopped working. Sony's tech support, even under warranty, was awful and had no recommendations (besides sending it in for a $500 repair - no thanks). We opened up the projector and immediately realized the lamp had overheated. We replaced that lamp ($300), and now we replace the air filter ($25 available all over) every 2 months. We haven't had one problem, let alone needing to change that overpriced lamp.

If you're in the market for a quality projector that's priced very well, this is the one. I know others have been released since this one, but do some research on it before writing it off.』

(Horrible Support - Do not buy.)
『I have to say the same thing as the last review. I purchased the Sony projector 4 months ago. The bulb is only under warantee for 3 months. The first CS person told me it was covered and to take it in to a depot. Then I was told it wasn't covered by the depot but that I could purchase it for $450 plus the labour of $150 to install a bulb that can't take them more then 5 minutes.

I have gone back and forth with Sony support for 4 weeks. And they are now saying they'll give me a discount but the discount is based on getting it fixed at the depot and I'll get sony gift certificates back.

I have purchased a lot of Sony stuff in my life but I will never buy anything again. I was so disappointed with support on this product that I would never have bought one given the choice.

It is very good quality but the cost of ownership is just too ridiculous.

I can't stress enough that there are many other great products out there. Go with one that has good support.』

『I find the previous review strange, because it was the same sort of lamp-replacement runaround from Infocus that prompted me to switch brands from Infocus to Sony nearly a year ago. I guess I must assume that similar problems affect several, possibly even most brands.

Note that this unit has a "high altitude" setting. I'm at around 5000ft and I did enable that option during initial set up. It causes the fans to run at a slightly higher speed for more effective cooling at altitude, resulting in just a bit more noise, but nothing compared to my old Infocus. I imagine that high altitude operation without using the setting might lead to premature failure, whereas running the high altitude setting at lower elevations might actually keep things cooler and possibly even improve longevity. Just a thought. Stable power is also important for front projectors. I have my unit on a good quality power conditioner/UPS to protect against any spikes or brownouts.

In any case, I've had the unit nearly a year and have been pleased with its performance. Image quality is excellent, especially when using the HDMI input. It's seen extensive use (somewhere over 2000 hours, I haven't checked lately) and I've only had to replace the air filter thus far. The unit came with a spare filter in the box.
The VPL-HS51 was a truly exceptional product a year ago, though now there are a few other similar/comparable units on the market, and some people are starting to look at moving to 1080p with the advent of Blueray and HD DVD. Even so, I personally feel no need to upgrade in the short term and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this projector to anyone who will be satisfied with 1280x720. If you run large screen sizes (e.g. larger than 80"), have a short viewing distance, and good eyesight it probably makes sense to go for 1080p even if it means waiting a little longer to make a purchase, but otherwise I think most people would be happy with 720.

There are plenty of excellent reviews of the VPL-HS51 on the web already so I won't go into great detail here, but in short, I'm completely satisfied and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

『I bought the dell axim x5 a month ago, I like dell products, and own a laptop from them, so it was natural for me to buy the axim. The axim is a god product the x5 is an older model but it more than meets my needs, has all the basics; word, excel, mc library, outlook calender and email, internet explorer, windows media player. plus microsoft has all kinds of apps for the axim, you can add pictures and songs. the x5 has a great price as well. I reccomend adding a sd card for extra storage. The only problem i had was really my fault i bought a 4 gig sd card that would not work with the x5, later i found out that the x5 will not read sd cards over 2 gigs, so i bought a 2 gig card for [...] bucks, but that is more than enough space for most users』

Also, if the battery life is not enough you can buy another battery for $5 on ebay and charge it in the second bay of the pda dock. Overall after four years I would call it outstanding.』

『I have owned my Axim for about 3 years and I love it. Sure there are better looking PDA's out there (Palm&Sony) but I have to use MS Office for work and tend to use it at home as well so there was really no alternative. That said it is a good thing!!! I use mine for e-mail and browsing although browsing can be slow due to processing power. I added a CF Wifi card which is cool, I also found an external folding keyboard and docking station on e-bay at a great price. I used to use a Psion 5 cause it had an excellant keyboard but now I use the Dell all the time. Add a 256mb CF or SD and you have storage for a shed load of songs, the media player works great!!! I also wrote a book on it last year (which was published!!) I have used it with TomTom software and GPS which worked vey well. I have also sync'd my mobile (cell) phone with it to use as a modem and back up my contacts on that via IR although bluetooth works better. My only gripe is the back-up battery can drain very quickly and i have lost all info once but now keep regulary backed up to avoid this problem.』

『Bought it for my daughter as a replacement for a Polaroid digital camera that started shutting itself off at random times. This one lasted for about two months, but now it is frozen in Smart Mode. No matter what we do when it comes on it will not allow for Mode selection. It takes pictures, but that's it.

I have taken probably 50 pictures in the few days I have had it and they all look fine! Much better than I expected actually. The
one issue with alot of point and shoot cameras is their ability to focus on images that are close up, with this camera that was not
a problem. I have been using the camera in its native "smart capture" mode and have been simply let the camera do all the work and I'm delighted by the results.
Its very quick to start up from power on to first shot and with the auto flash type setting each image is appropriately filled if a flash is needed.
I feel like I got more than I bargained for and I'm quite happy about it..nice job Kodak!』

『I was skeptical about getting this camera because I know Kodak has fell off a bit. I then saw the latest Consumer Reports and saw this camera was a CR Best Buy. Therefore, I decided to go to Staples and get this camera. The price was great. It was less than a c-note. The price combined with the Consumer Report made me decided to buy it. How could I go wrong?

The picture was not all of that, considering the HD label. I also noticed that the HD resolution just eats up the battery. Plus, it takes forever to charge back up. This was all discovered on the first day. The next day, the device indicated the memory card was full, despite erasing all videos. I also starting getting messages saying that the memory card was not recognized and I needed to put in another. That was just great. After that, I just decided to return this camera for a Sony Cybershot DSC-S950 10MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization (Silver). Maybe, I got a lemon, but considering the so-called HD picture and video, this camera seems to be a little overrated.』

『Of the four Autobots that survived to the end of the first Transformers movie in 2007- Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Ironhide, and Bumblebee- Ratchet was the only one I didn't get in the Premium (extra-painted) series released towards the end of the first movie's toyline. This much shows in looking at him. His blocky vehicle mode makes him more of a mix between the blended-shrapnel look of the robots in the movie and the more traditional pile-of-blocks Transformers aesthetic. He looks less like the his screen incarnation than Transformers Movie 2 Leader Optimus Prime, Transformers Movie 2 Deluxe Bumblebee Figure, and even the oddly-colored retool Transformers Movie 2 Voyager Iron Hide. But he's all the Ratchet you get until the third movie comes along, so love him or leave him. I do like the desaturated "desert" green better than than the brighter hues of previous versions of this toy- it just seems more "Michael Bay-like". And the dark grey plastic replacing the previous black for his "metal bits" is fine by me; it puts him in a transitional area, colorwise, between Optimus Prime on one side (light grey "metal"), Ironhide on the other (all black, in the original paint color).

Don't get me wrong, he's a fine toy. His transformation scheme is fairly simple, yet with lots of nice clicky bits as you snap things together. He's got some parts that are prone to falling off- the rear bumper of his truck mode tends to pop off the back of his knees if you bend them too much, and the H2-labeled undercarriage that covers his robot head in vehicle mode hangs awfully loose on mine. And of course, any detachable weapon- like his roof rack/grabber claw assembly- has good odds of getting lost. But even minus all of these, he's still a big chunky robot that turns into a big chunky truck. And for the robot-loving, toy-car-driving little kid in your life- or in your heart- what more could you want?』

『I, as I'm sure any and all who purchase this book is, am a great Bruce Campbell fan. I don't belong to the deadites, nor to the Xena/Hercules fans; I just think he's funny. This book is, as one would expect, also very amusing. It is not laugh out loud funny, nor should it be, but there are quite a few amusing anecdotes and the way in which Campbell writes is in itself quite clever and witty. The reader gets to know not a few things about independent filmmaking, and indeed big budget filmmaking as seen from the less than spectacularly glamourous aspect of a star director or leading actor/actress. I was all caught up in the spirit of the indie-film after reading this book, and was actually ready to go ahead and try to produce a flick of my own.

I guess this book is just about what you'd expect it to be. It has that certain Bruce Campbellishness that makes it just so good. I will, however, join those who say, that there is a certain lack of depth in some parts of the book. That doesn't really subtract that much, though. It is still clever and well written.

Any Bruce Campbell fan will like this, I should think.』

The truth is that though you might not have a clue who I am, there are countless working stiffs like me out there, grinding away every day at the wheel of fortune.

『Life is going well for Zack King. He's marrying beautiful, leggy, and blue-blood blonde Hope, a girl he has trouble believing has fallen for him. His job as a middleman between clients and suppliers may not be a life's calling, but is okay. At age thirty-two, he's trying to be everything his louse of a father was not when he essentially dropped out of the lives of his mother and two brothers many years ago. Apparently, the equanimity in his life is too good to be true.

This book is a well-paced, insightful, amusing, and sympathetic look at how a man's life can rather quickly unravel. It's hard to say what is more disconcerting to Zack: the unexpected presence of his father Norm at his apartment door or the sudden appearance of blood in his urine. He doesn't want to alarm Hope with his medical problem, so he seeks the consolation of Tamara, the widow of his former best friend Rael, who sadly did not survive a car wreck in which Zack was the passenger, after a night of partying in Atlantic City. Zack has been a pillar of strength for Tamara over the last two years, but his deeper feelings for her, which he has harbored for the longest time, are, much to his chagrin, starting to surface more and more.

The book is not a deep psychological study of life and relationships. It has zany moments usually involving his father who pops Viagra like it is aspirin, simply to maintain constant, though unemployed, feelings of potency. But there is enough introspection and regrouping for all the parties to begin to move beyond feelings of hurt, loss, abandonment, and, more importantly for Zack, violating trusts. The author shows a very deft touch in this well-constructed, easy-flowing book.

『Jonathan Tropper has a real gift for writing snappy dialogue and memorable introspective reflections on behalf of his protagonist narrator.
I enjoyed reading The Book Of Joe a few years ago and finally got around to reading Everything Changes. In this book the plot moves along briskly and all of the characters are engaging in their own way. There is a "screenplay" quality to a few episodes in the story but there is nothing shallow about it. Tropper in this book manages to achieve a novel that deals with abandonment on several levels while injecting humor into the story that balances out the narrative avoiding getting too deeply sentimental while still revealing the pain that well meaning people can inflict on each other.
I thoroughly enjoyed this, laughed out loud a couple of times and underlined a few paragraphs that I found exceptionally insightful. All in all a quick read and time well spent.』

『Jonathan Tropper was recommended to me by chance out of my following of other humorous authors. Tropper's ultra fast paced story telling reveals a new quirk and a new laugh seemingly at every page. Though I can not yet judge his collective works, Tropper's talents cause me to eagerly anticipate his other novels.

Zachary King has a gorgeous fiancee, a luxurious rent-free apartment, and a well paying job. Problems begin to arise when other women are more interesting to him than they should be and his job that would seem to be out of Kafka's imagination wears all too thin on him. In addition, traces of blood show up in his urine and his absentee Viagra-addicted father reenters is life. His father Norm actually seems to take Viagra as a maintenance drug which creates some interesting situations. Zach's brother Matt's peculiar choice of a hairpiece is also a highlight. I was only a little repulsed by the retarded brother jokes used when Zach's brother Pete makes an appearance. Tropper is too talented to attempt such cheap humor.

The portions of the story in which Zach's medical problems are being addressed are amusing enough to make this book worth purchasing. But as readers cringe their way through awkward situations, it is difficult not to be amused. While the book is humorous, one can empathize with Zach as he is torn between his fiancee with her seemingly disapproving family and the widow of his best friend. The humor complements a great story in "Everything Changes". As the runaway train of a story winds to its conclusion, not every twist can be anticipated.』

    『I was looking for a movie for "Girl's Nite" and thought with all the actors listed - Sean Patrick Flannery, Dean Cain, Luke Wilson, Fred Ward, and Drew Barrymore - how bad could it be? As it turns out, very, very bad!

    The movie opens to four men in their underwear getting dressed into tuxedos. This should have given me a clue. They go to pick up their best friend, straight out of jail, for his immediate wedding. A highly implausible script does not encourage continued viewing.

    One of the guys begs to be dropped off at a bank before heading to the wedding. Here a bumbling bank robbery plot takes over. There are funny moments but not enough to warrant watching this film. I suppose casting good looking male actors was suppose to be enough.....』

    『The semiotic language underlined twice in two transcendental sequences. "Be a shark, not a bait."

    This brilliant script deals with several facets of the human being in the city of the world : How to survive in the middle of the competitive contour? How do we face the success and bear our affective lacks behind the mask of the most terrible existential loneliness? Where is the turning point of every human being?

    After the first quarter of the film my mind brought me back those horrid memories of the magnificent film "Midnight cowboy" . The tangent point resides precisely in the fact we have a winner salesman Jamie Bashant (Brendan Fraser) and his fiancée Belisa (Amber Valletta) from Ohio has been enticed and recruited to face the challenge in New York City in order to triumph into a well reputed enterprise related with the sell of first-order technological devices and how he has to deal with the wolf of the thousand won battles, Ted Rike (Michael Keaton who stole the show in this film) .

    That's the initial premise. Our new promise begins his job with many failures and disappointments. And when his girlfriend and Ted begin a sudden and hot affair the tic tack of the clock will initiate its regressive count.

    The gradual and irreversible crumbling of our hunter runs parallel with the decay of the firm he represents, because the was the superstar of this winner team. And we will witness the awful truth in the great and unexpected finale.

    Undoubtedly, we are in front of the best films of this year. Astonishing performances and an engaging plot make of this movie a magnificent finding.

    (Death of Salesman 2)
    『"The Last Time" kept my interest. The sales lingo and stiff competition formed a good foundation for the film where getting ahead vies with truthfulness. Michael Keaton who was in "First Daughter" and played Batman for Tim Burton years ago does a good job as the cutthroat Ted who does anything to make the sale. Keaton develops the character well as we eventually see his vulnerability. Brendan Fraser who was in The Air I Breathe which was not so great and the Oscar-winning Crash (Widescreen Edition) plays Jamie, a naive salesman from Ohio trying to adjust to New York. One of the deleted scenes showing Fraser in leather with a girl in the bathroom was thankfully not in the final cut. Fraser does a good job showing the downhill emotional trajectory of the character. Amber Valetta from Transporter 2 plays Jamie's girlfriend Belisa. The scene with her being unfaithful with Ted as Jamie lies unconscious next to them in the bed is jarring. Billy Slaughter turns in a nice cameo performance as the frisky intern who gets beat up in the parking lot. Neal McDonough turns his blue eyes loose as Hurly whose bravado exceeds his accomplishment. Michael Lerner was a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee for "Barton Fink" in 1991. He turns in a nice cameo performance as the sales guru Leguzza who has a penchant for Korean boys. Michael Caleo who directed an episode of "The Sopranos" helms the project and keeps it unpredictable into the home stretch. Perhaps we might call this "Death of Salesman 2." Enjoy!』

    『This is a comedy that turns serious as a bitter salesman realizes he can still fall in love, and not with money. The problem is, he doesn't realized he's being duped and his company is being taken down...one salesman at a time by a bigwig that likes to thin out heavy competition. Will everyone open their eyes in time? I would've liked a different ending, but it was a good watch.

    (Good for people who don't know how to knit at all.)
    『This DVD is GREAT if you don't know how to knit at all. Seriously, I can't imagine a better way for a person who doesn't know a knit from a purl from a whole in the ground to start knitting.

    Be warned, however... Mrs. McNally and her company have been promising a 'part 2' DVD for several years. It would seem from exhausting google searches that she even took a lot of money for pre-orders. Unfortunately, it would seem there will never be a part 2. If you email them and ask, they will respond 'it is coming out in the (add two seasons from the one you are in currently)' then they will never respond to you again.

    It is becuase of this dishonesty that I give this DVD a one star rating. This specific DVD if a five star item, but Nici McNally is a one star company.

    (Best way to learn the basics)
    『I'd decided to try something new and learn to knit but all of the written instructions I'd found did not help me at all. I went ahead and decided to give this DVD a try and I finally learned what to do.

    It wasn't as easy as watching it once and being able to immediately knit. The set up of the DVD was great in that you could easily go back and watch each step as many times as needed. It was broken down into small enough sections that I didn't have to sit through a bunch of steps I already knew. I could watch exactly the step I needed until I learned how to do it.

    Another important feature was that all the steps were available in both Continental and English style. I absolutely hated English style so without both I probably would have given up on knitting right away.

    This DVD is limited to the basics. You won't find advanced techniques here but that's not the purpose of this DVD. I learned the basics well enough that I can pick up some knitting books and actually understand them. I wish there was a sequel with more advanced techniques as I have yet to find something that explains these as clearly as the basics where explained here. There seem to be rumors of another DVD but I have yet to see it.』

She even goes into how to use the controls for your DVD player in case you aren't too tech savvy. With someone who is so thoughtful you know you're getting a thorough and patient teacher and she is all of those things and more. I was happy to see that all of the video's of actual knitting were very close up and with yarn that was bulky enough to see each individual stitch. The DVD menu is set up just right into categories that are easy to understand and navigate. I don't have any complaints. She was definitely new to the camera, but that's what made me feel at ease and fall in love with the process itself. I will surely recommend this DVD to ANYONE who would like to learn the art of knitting. It was fun and full of good information. Can't wait for the next DVD this Christmas!』

Granted, these stories are rushed and simplistic and the songs are mediocre, but the work Goelz and Whitmire put in reminds us that these are still the characters we love. It's much like seeing your favorite actors in a bad movie. The story isn't so hot, but you can tell they've still got it and will go onto do better things.』

There's only a part or two that are gloomy and if you're concerned then watch the movie with your kids to be reassuring. But the movie is about Good and Evil and I think it's obvious who will come out on the top of things. To sum it up, it's a fun, fantasy version of Santa Claus that very few people know of.

The action is not overdone, however. The color in here is magnificent and it looks spectacular on DVD. I'd like to see this on Blu-Ray some day.

    The film turned out to be a good combination of drama, action, comedy and romance. I would think this would be a little too frightening, however, for little kids, for those wondering about that. The only negative I had was listening to the grating voice of Rose O'Donnell. Otherwise, I have nothing but good things to say about this film.

This seems to be the one driving force in his life until he sees something that changes everything: he is called to a crime scene and finds a body that is devoid of all blood. This makes Dexter drool and, before long, he becomes entangled in what the press is calling the Ice Trcuk Killer, actually finding himself invited to play a game with him. This leads to a lot of revelations about his past, and awakens a few things that make him wonder what Harry really was when it came to the both of them.

    When looking at Dexter, there are a lot of things that catch the eye. From the script (that follows the book in ways that are beautifully orchestraed) to the way the lighting for each death secene makes its own type of visual sexiness, this series has so much to offer its viewers. I hung on each episode as I watched them, and this feeling has continued all the way to where I am now - in the middle of Season 4. The reason for that is because you don't find yourself slighted in the story but instead you find yourself continually smitten by the way the story grips and doesn't let go. I have a love for that whenever I find it in a show, and this series is one that really brings everything to the table. From the actors that stay with us to the surprised that twist and turn, Dexter delivers on everything it promised and more.

    If you've ever wanted to root for someone doing bad deeds, this is your chance to feel good about it. I personally love the way Dexter plays games with everyone he meets, putting on his mask and pretending long enough to seem normal in even his victim's eyes, and I also love the way Dexter is present here. From flashbacks to finding out bits and pieces about the man behind the bloodslide, you'll definately come back for more.

I loved the books when I read them and am happy to see they have been so well adapted (at least the first one, which is all I've seen so far). The Dark Passenger seems to get short shrift in this first series, and that left me without much of an insight into what Dexter really thinks. I know his narration spells everything out, but I just wasn't convinced without some more description of what was in the Dark Passenger's mind. Still, I enjoyed this thoroughly. Sgt. Doakes is perfect!』

    『An interesting and original idea that's very skillfully executed, Showtime'sDexteris never less than watchable, often quite compelling, and sometimes thoroughly riveting. As the 12 episodes from the show's first season (packaged here in a four disc set) reveal, it's also the epitome of "high concept," a kind ofSilence of the Lambsfor theC.S.I.generation. Creator-executive producer James Manos Jr.'s title character, one Dexter Morgan (played by Michael C. Hall ofSix Feet Underrenown), works for the Miami Police Department as an blood spatter analyst, visiting crime scenes and helping figure out what happened. He has an avocation, too: during his off hours, he tracks down some very, very bad people who for various reasons have eluded the proper authorities. Seems his adoptive father, a cop himself, taught the kid how to channel his dark side in a "positive" direction; and so, having captured these evildoers (including a child molester-murderer and a recidivist drunk driver with a trail of bodies in his wake), Dex dispatches them with clinical precision, thus making him a serial killer who snuffs serial killers. But there's more--muchmore, as it turns out. By his own description, Dexter is "a monster," an empty shell who fakes all human interactions and admits to no real feelings for anything or anyone, including his foster sister (Jennifer Carter) and his nominal girlfriend (Julie Benz), a former crack addict and battered spouse who's as uninterested in sex as he is. There's an explanation for Dexter's weirdness, of course, one so deep and traumatic that even he isn't aware of it. It's gradually revealed over the course of the season as he and the cops (who include Erik King, Lauren Velez, and David Zayas, all first-rate) track down the so-called "Ice Truck Killer," a fellow monster whose grisly m.o. both fascinates and taunts our hero, leading to a genuinely shocking and squirm-inducing finale.Dextercan be a bit arch, with an ironic, too-hip-for-the-room tone that get a little old. Still, it's a safe bet that anyone who views this first season will be salivating for the second. Extras include audio commentary on two episodes, a featurette about real-life blood spatter analysis, and a variety of DVD-ROM items. --Sam Graham
