(Inspiring, uplifting, fun!) 『I watch this or any other Hicks dvd at least 5-6x a week. I watch first thing in the morning and whenever I'm not able to connect with feeling good within myself. The dvd is the roadmap I use to navigate my way back to me. In this dvd, the energy is quite different from some of their other dvd's. There is a substantial feeling of power, of truth, exuberance coming from Abraham. It's a bit hard to describe, but it can be felt.
Abraham's dedication to giving a multitude of ways to look at an issue always brings enlightenment, understanding and a feeling of freedom, especially a feeling of peace. My life has become easier, happier, I am more at peace with myself and especially those around me. I get parking spaces up front, things are always working out for me and my needs are always met. Life is good. Of course, I have to do the work of reprograming my navigation system, and at times it feels like an overwhelming task, it's at those times I pop in the dvd, this one especially, and get back to where I'm going, get back to feeling good. This is an excellent tool to guide you to where you're going. Initially upset at the unexpected change in his life, Dutch and wife Sally (June Allyson) adjust to military life. Dutch gets familiar with new types of long range bomber aircraft, and Strategic Air Command's (SAC) global responsibilities.
Although it is a time of peace, the film emphasizes the importance of remaining ever vigilant, along worldwide front, and also covers the personal and financial sacrifices, made by those who choose to serve the country in this mission. With no war to fight, the most exciting incident involves a wing catching on fire, and Dutch crash landing in Greenland, injuring his shoulder. The injury later becomes a problem, on an extremely long haul flight to Japan, leading to a dramatic landing in poor weather.
The film balances the military missions, with some peeks at home life. Allyson portrays the typical supportive wife, separated from her husband, giving birth to a daughter, while Dutch is on the Greenland mission. The marriage understandably experiences a crisis, when Dutch reenlists without checking with her.
A slow developing film, without much excitement, Strategic Air Command plays like a light promotional for the Air Force, making a case for the necessity to be ever alert to danger, and never letting your guard down. Stewart as usual is believable and likeable, though perhaps a bit on the older side to be a major league pitcher. Military buffs may enjoy the look at what are now vintage aircraft.』

(Visually stunning, even for those not prone to aircraft enthusiasm) 『The real stars of this thinly-veiled recruiting, tribute and Cold War propaganda vehicle are the B-36&B-47 bombers and other assorted massive military aircraft; the film is stuffed with stunning Vistavision, Technicolor visuals of these aircraft both in flight and on the tarmac.
Dozens taxied in formation for takeoff, aerial refuelings by KC-97 Stratotankers, crafty landings in the muck, gaping noses of C-124 Globemaster II cargo planes swallowing up tanker trucks whole - all will visually fascinate even those viewers with little in the way of aircraft enthusiasm.
Aside from the planes themselves, there's little else on board this film. Stewart's delivery is uninteresting; not surprising given the nearly non-existent plot, that pilot Stewart's fighting off personal aches/pains as well as his personal desire - and his 1950s-aproned wife's nagging - to return to professional baseball, a loose reference to BoRedSox's Ted Williams.
Stewart's being tapped for this vehicle is no accident in casting. He flew WWII bombing runs and remained an active member of the Air Force Reserve into the 1960s, ultimately achieving the rank of Brigadier General. June Alyson's delivers well the lousy supporting role she's dealt - playing the spoiled, hissy-fitting&whiny wife who's tired of worrying away the days when Stewart is aloft on classified missions to destinations unknown.
Though there's plenty of inside information/access on display, reference to SAC's 'nuclear failsafe' mission are notably absent.
Given Stewart's involvement and the full access granted by SAC, it's obvious the military (and likely Curtis LeMay) instigated the film's development, but though it's original purpose is long gone (and SAC, as of 1992), the viewer can still be thankful for the visually stunning record of these aircraft that it immortalized.

He even got married to a beautiful and loving woman named Sally (June Allyson). One day, just when things are looking good for the family, he's asked to leave his job and join the Air Force again. Sally doesn't think he will, but he agrees quickly and loves his job. Despite the danger involved with flying, Dutch takes to it like a duck in water. He soon becomes in charge of his own crew, much to the chagrin of his wife.
This movie boasts its airplanes quite a lot and its popular cast not as much. In fact, Stewart requested to make this movie because of his own time in the Air Force during the war. He is excellent in the film, and doesn't seem to mind taking second billing to all of the aircraft. It is Allyson who suffers in a small role with little to do. This isn't a great Stewart-Allyson teaming, but it isn't a bad film. Thanks to the likable cast, one does not have to be interested in airplanes to enjoy the movie.』
(A Splendid Tribute to the B-36: "6 Turning, 4 Burning!") 『No airworthy B-36 exists, and I suspect the same is true of the B-47. This movie is pretty much all that we have left, and thus they have become the true "stars" of this film. For a splendid 5 minute sample from this film, type "B-36" into YouTube. I also recommend the Wikipedia entry on the B-36. The B-36 is the nec plus ultra of piston aviation, and still the largest combat airplane ever made. It could lift as much as the B-52 and fly at 420mph. With the jets turned off after takeoff, it could stay airborne for 40 hours, even longer, without in-air refueling, giving it a range exceeding that of the B-52.
The soaring score that accompanies the takeoff and flying is by Victor Young, a major Hollywood and Tin Pan Alley composer of the day. I wonder if it can be purchased separately.
I too remember the extreme tension of the Cold War, and consider the USA very lucky to have survived it without a major nuclear accident. The B-36 played a major but little acknowledged historical role during the worst years of the Cold War: if storing nuclear warheads in NATO Europe was limited by diplomatic considerations, then the B-36 was the only way to threaten the USSR with nuclear retaliation--the B-47 simply lacked the range. Few also know that the first generation hydrogen bomb weighed 43000 lbs. Such a bomb was utterly meaningless unless it could be carried several thousand miles. My mom loves it and it is possibly one of the funniest summer comedies since One Crazy Summer and many others. The show just got released on DVD and I hope to expect a DVD release of this movie which needs to come out into the spotlight finally. My god, this flick was only available on VHS for so long and now there's not too many people out there who own VCRs anymore. They've all moved on to DVDs and Blu-Ray. Sadly HISMV is not part of that all. It will be soon though hopefully. Others consider it to be complete conjecture. In the end, the theme you hear in the majority of reviews is that if you saw this movie 25 years ago, it stuck with you. It ticked you off, or haunted you. Personally, it freaked me out, but whether it's fact or fiction, or a mixture of both, no one can argue that it's entertaining, and worth watching! I would imagine that although the things that were printed on the net at the time of 9-11 were hoaxes, that watching this film post 9-11 has to be creepy even without specific mention of the towers. It'll be interesting to see what effect it has on me now. This began as a great series and ended as a maudlin soap opera. J.D. Salinger described sentimentality as (I'm paraphrasing) loving a character more than God loves him; that seems to sum up much of what went wrong with this series. The creators apparently believe that every little pang of angst their characters feel deserves an episode's (well, many, in fact) worth of development. Turning Starbuck into an angel is an extreme example of this. Clearly, the show's creators love her, but she is a selfish, maladjusted annoying character from the second season to the very end. Struggling through the series, I found myself time and again groaning inwardly, thinking, "Oh no. Starbuck's emoting again."
The ending could not be more implausible. They finally reach a planet that isn't earth (which of course has been destroyed) but which they call earth. They abandon all their technology--just like that--all their medicine, tools, and so on, to live like the natives. They have no apparent skills that will allow them to adopt a stone-age existence, but we are led to believe they do. Furthermore, instead of sticking together to rely on one another and perhaps protect themselves against natives that might or might not be hostile, they scatter. Sorry, folks, but intelligent people would not do this.
I kept watching this series hoping that it would regain some of its original glory. (Also, frankly, I wanted to know how it ended.) When BSG started, the writers/creators maintained the right balance between personal drama and action. We got fast, edgy stories and the moral complexities were there but not exaggerated to histrionic degrees.』
(the end of the best) 『I have waited a bit to comment on the finale of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA...i have to admit i have very strong feelings about this show. it is one of those special things that only come along so often in our lives. now that i have watched the entire series and all the specials, including watching the final disc of season 4.5 three times now, i guess i can pass on my ramblings. i think this is the best show ever on TV.the writing remained strong , creative, and thought provoking the entire series. the political and metaphysical questions it posed are without a doubt the most adventurous ever put to the small screen. the characters were given traits that made us love and hate them. there was little black or white in the questions this show raised or with its characters. we learned much and questioned much about the human, and or cylon race as we watched. which one did WE come from anyway? many of the shows and their production values exceed anything we see in the theater these days. the last episode, watch the entire disc as one, is probably the greatest single endeavor ever on tv. i am sorry to see it over, but it ended as it should. i highly suggest you buy this entire series and watch it from beginning to end. question YOUR humanity while the crew tries to keep theirs. the noble acts and the atrocities...we are capable of it all. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA makes us look closely into the mirror...you can decide if you like what you see. SO SAY WE ALL.

Sure, we'd like to know why Hera was so important; if Kara already knew the notes and the jump coordinates, why would she need them from Hera? and if Hera is part Cylon, wouldn't it show up if the archaeologists 150,000 years hence did an exam of her skeleton? If Kara was said to be the harbinger of death, what came of that? How did she just disappear into thin air? Does Bill Adama really want to live out his life in a cabin all alone with Laura's grave nearby? If you had some tech, would you really want to abandon it and live primitively when you don't need to? And why would the primitive tribesmen want to mingle with you at all unless it was to kill you?
You can put the above aside, to a degree, however, and enjoy the most unpredictable, questioning, darkest, most daring series that's been on TV in quite some time. The cast is superb, with James Callis, McDonnell, and Olmos standing out the most. The ship is realistically breaking up and dying of age and damage instead of magically being put back together again as it would have been in Trek or other series. The producers and writers also will not let people just ride off happily into the sunset; the fact is that what we seek isn't always what we had hoped we would find; sometimes things do not work out in the end; and you have to wonder if the human species really deserves to survive at all.

The unit is very easy to setup up. Movies are best viewed in dark room. These projectors were not intended to replace your regular TV set! Feeding a signal from an HD DVD player using an HD DVD results in an absolute beautiful viewing experience. Remember most HD DVD player will also upvert the quality of tradional DVD's so they will look better than normal as well. The best image will result from using the VGA to Component adaptor.... S Video and the old yellow, white and red imputs will result in an "OK" picture. Go for the best. Watch your HD DVD's or Blu Ray and/ subscribe to HD televion services and you will immediately noted how inferior traditional/standard cable and satellite images really are!

You must darken the room, use the component connections and rout the audio to a separate receiver or stereo. It does take some savvy to get things right. You should also mount this to the ceiling. That cuts down on noticeability of the fan noise and means you can sit right underneath it, which is the best seat in the house. So, you need a 25 ft cable, and a ceiling mount ($150?). Although you can make that yourself.
Did I say wow, yet? The sharpness is very good, although you will see screen door if you sit too close and/or the image is too big. But I don't see screen door with the image 6 feet wide, with me 10 feet back. And you shouldn't be closer than that anyway.
You might be bothered by the rainbow effect, with B&W movies, sometimes. OTOH, I noticed it as soon as I got it, but it's never bothered me. You shouldn't be flickering your eyes back and forth fast when watching a movie anyway.
The best thing is the colors and blacks. The image has a soft quality that is great for movies, less good for sports. The difference between my home theater and the multiplex is that the Plex has an even bigger screen and the colors on it are a bit more saturated. But these front projectors offer the same type of experience as the real movies.
Don't bother connecting a ground cable signal to the projector via a VCR, the image is not good enough for the projector quality. Component connection is FAR better than composite.

I am satisfied with the quality of video i am watching through the projector. I live in an apartment complex and its bright during the day when i have to make the room dark but evenings and night excellent quality. it doesnt start up right away sometimes and i have to turn it off and on few times but that doesnt bother me much. I know its not great projector but for the cost its awesome. also if i get any of the problems the other reviewers have stated then i will be covered by warranty for 1 year by infocus and the following 3 years by officemax.』
(X1A is not an X1!) 『In December 2002 I purchased an x1 (see my review under infocus x1) and this projector is still going strong and I love it. If you can find a used one, I would still definitely rcommend it. Note that if you are using it in a dusty area, you must clean the bulb filter about every six months (I blew the first bulb at a year by not doing this). However, I had a very different experience with the X1A. The composite video was never as good as the X1 which would seem to be because it has a different, inferior decoder. After a little more than a year it started making a loud buzzing noise and then it quit. Since I only had a 1 year warranty, I decided to just forget about it. I have since replaced it with a refurbished infocus 4805 which so far is working great and is reasonably quiet.

Everyone who played it had a wonderful time and really enjoyed it.
The game is recommended for ages eight and up and for two or more players.
We typically had two to five players per team but even a one vs one game was fun.
We played this game on a DVD player hooked up to our TV.
One word of warning... the game flow is slightly different than the actual game show. Most people who buy this game probably consider themselves experts on the rules so it's a little disappointing (at first) when it's not played quite like you're expecting. But once you play a quick game you'll have the rules mastered and you'll be having loads of fun.
Basically the game play is simplified by having the first team huddle together to come up with their list of the top five answers in any order for the given question. Then as the answers are revealed one by one, if one of the answers are not on the teams top five list then the other team has a chance to steal by having matched any one of the remaining answers.
This is the only Family Feud game we've played so I'm not sure how it compares to the other versions.
If you are willing to spend a couple of minutes to understand the slight variation in the game flow, I think you and your friends will have hours of fun and enjoyment.

The only bad thing i would say about it is that she makes the battle at Aspho Fields and Carlos death a little to much like Robert Jordans death in for whom the bell tolls. This is a possibly paying homage to Hemingway but i think you could do better.』
(Not bad, but not as good as Contact Harvest) 『This book provides some backstory to the game. The author has clearly been around the military, as she uses a lot of Army terms and lingo. That's refreshing. The book jumps between a current timeline mission, set between GoW1 and GoW2, and the battle of Aspho Fields, 14 years prior to the E-Day. However, the book barely explains the reasons behind Marcus's mother's desappearance - which appears to not really be a big deal in big scheme of things. None of the nuggets that you will find in the book are crucial to the storyline and, overall, the book is just another story set in the GoW universe. That is the only reason I am giving this book a 4/5 rating. It's a fun read but not a must have for fans.』
(Another terrible effort from Karen Traviss) 『I've read this book before. Twice actually. In the form of Star Wars Republic Commando: Hard Contact and Triple Zero. Traviss has simply taken the plot structure, and characters of her previous novels and rehashed it here in the Gears universe. The Clones are now Gears and Kal Skirata is now Hoffman. The entire first have of the book (200 pages) is all prep for the battle at the end. Which was how Triple Zero was set up. The end battle by the way doesn't deliver. Aspho Fields is also a prequel/sequel to the first game, as the plot jumps back and forth through time. Problem is, I've played both games so I already knew the outcome. And I guess Traviss assumes this cause she actually tells you they succeed a couple chapters in!
I doubt she has actually played the game because gone is the constant action, only to be replaced with chapters of boring dialogue and useless technical military jargon that is neither entertaining or interesting. Which makes the pace downright terrible. Only 10 pages of action for the first half of the book. Worst of all, she can't write action. All her books feel as if they are written by a military advisor. Where instead of giving us action. She goes over every military procedure for how a battle should be fought. Along with all the prepping. Then that explanation is stretched out over entire chapters.
The only positive to the book I can say is that Traviss gives some characterization to Dom and Carlos Santiago. While she makes Marcus completely flat and uninteresting.
When it comes down to it. I just want to be entertained. And Traviss has failed yet again to write a book that's fun. Hopefully Del Rey will give a different author a chance to take a shot at the Gears universe.』

I like to read about true crime to help me understand and see the characteristics or tendencies of antisocial behavior in everyday interactions with family, friends, or co-workers. This book does an outstanding job of covering the details of Mark Whitacre's involvement in fraud, espionage, extensive lying, and embezzlement, along with ADM's corporate crimes.
I did not find the book entertaining as many of the reviewers did. I did not find it to be a "page turner," nor did I find it difficult to put down. The level of detail was extraordinary, and I found much of it unnecessary, particularly the descriptions of the myriad of challenges between the government agencies. This book has been compared to a Grisham novel numerous times, but I can say that if I did not know this was a true story, I would have put the book down early. I did not, because I wanted to continue learning about what happened from a historical perspective, and I wanted to keep learning from an academic perspective.
This book is truly an impressive piece of work and I commend the author for his accomplishment. If you want to study true human nature, it is a great read. If you want to be entertained, perhaps you will like the movie better.』

(Patience Is a Virtue. . .) 『that I really don't possess as a reader. And I love to read long and involved books. I do it all the time. Having bought and read Mr. Eichenwald's Conspiracy for Fools, I was more than eager to delve into this. Yet, here I am on page 219, and I'm still waiting for the bizarre and crazy that's promised in so many of the reviews here. Instead I've gotten 200+ pages of the same routine over and over again. Meetings w/ taping and surveillance. Behind the scenes with the FBI. And then more meeting w/ taping and surveillance.
I intend to finish this book, because I love the corporate espionage/subversive true story as much as anyone else and am chomping at the bit to get to the meat of the matter. How long do I have to wait? Another 100 pages?
This book is well written and researched, but a good editor would have tightened this story up a lot.

(Serves as a case study on the use of informants by law enforcement personnel) 『The Informant is 656 pages and while I would have preferred a much more edited version for myself, one can see the historical value in this large edition. Eichenwald spent a lot of time interviewing and assembling information, and without his efforts the significance of this grand story would have been mainly lost to history.
What a strange story! Whitacre was a promising informant, even wearing wires to record many conversations. The government's case was strong but Whitacre was a criminal himself and also went crazy. The government did not anticipate possible sanity ill-effects of being an informant over a long period of time on Whitacre. Thus, Whitacre did a lot of strange things and violated his agreements with the government, and ended up doing time. But it's such a complicated story that it's not easy to figure out if Whitacre is a hero or partially a villain.
Personally, I thought Whitacre should not have had to serve time for eight years, mainly because he brought the case to the FBI and built their case for them by wearing the wire. Secondarily, he sacrificed his career by doing what he did for the FBI, and it's hard to imagine what large company would want to take a risk on hiring him after that. Finally, even though his hands weren't exactly clean, he evidently lost his mental stability as a result of his cooperation over a long period of time.
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) paid hefty fines (this was in the 90s), and paid out a lot in settlements to customers that had overpaid as a result of the price fixing. One could imagine how the employees at ADM that had nothing to do with the price fixing scheme must have suffered. That is a story that I would find equally interesting. For example, did they have to forego raises because of budgetary reasons due to the fines and settlements? Did some innocent executives have to leave the company after investing years building careers at the company?
Another interesting follow up theme would be how the FBI and the Department of Justice used this case to learn how to better handle informants. It is stressful to live a double life as an informant and follow instructions to wear wires and implicate people that one works with. But maybe it is too tempting to rely heavily on an informant on whom the entire case depends and to do everything necessary to make the informant do what the investigators want him or her to do. But certainly, the investigators in such a case have to monitor and evaluate the mental condition of an informant. 』

Kurt Eichenwald, an award-winning journalist, does a superb job of meticulously reporting and weaving this tale of personal and corporate malfeasance. It's hard to believe this twisted tale is based on truth -- the Archer Daniels Midland Company price-fixing scandal and its prime actor, wonder-boy executive Mark Whitacre. There is multiplayer which you play simulatious&tournament which are the only saving graces. Oh if you pass all the games? You unlock the CREDITS! Not even entertaining, just letters on black. There are 5 catagories (pirate, bond/spy, Past Culture, Space, Haunted House) each w/4 games, 1 unlocked, 3 you unlock one at a time in order by beating the previous. the last is unlocked only when beat the 3 games of ALL of the catagories. There are FOUR bejewled games (matching tiles), 4 taking picture, 4 swipe the remote left or down rythm games, 4 shooters (the only somewhat decent ones), 2 running. No nunchuck is used. The game can be beat in less then 90 min for teenager (rental for them only if you want to punish them) or older, it would be 40 min if it wasn't for the cut scenes or trying to choose a less annoying character. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Not really a movie, but a great three episodes) 『Stewie Griffin: the Untold Story is billed as the first Family Guy movie, but it's really a series of three episodes strung together with some filler and extra jokes. This is not a bad thing - Family Guy is at its best when it is wacky and off the wall rather than focusing on a continuous plot, so I don't think a full-length movie would show off the program's strengths. Instead, what we have are a few of the best Family Guy episodes out there.
The basic plot of Stewie Griffin: the Untold Story is that Stewie, after a near-death experience, sets off to find himself and in the process comes to suspect that Peter isn't his real father. That starts a country-spanning search for his real father, with a twist that is immensely satisfying. The story here is very similar to the TV episodes "Road to Rhode Island" and "Road to Europe" in that Stewie and Brian travel as the odd couple through many bizarre situations, while the rest of the family is largely relegated to the side plot. Despite spending two years in cancellation, the show picks up mostly where it left off with some excellent jokes and zany cutaways.
There are a small handful of annoyances with this DVD, although they are mostly minor. Family Guy in general has relied on a lot of the same type of jokes for years, including the ever-tired fart jokes, and they do sometimes seem to repeat themselves. However, this is a flaw that shows up in later series of the TV show much more than in this self-contained movie. As another minor annoyance, the DVD, despite being billed as the Uncensored Version, is indeed censored for language. You can turn the censorship off in the options, but it would have been nice for the uncensored version to be the default - especially when there is a censored version people can buy if strong language offends them (and if it does, why on Earth are you watching Family Guy in the first place?).
