(Another book to movie failure.)
『I finished reading the book ( for the second time) 2 days ago.
I just finished seeing the movie.
I did NOT expect the movie to be entirely faithful to the
book because I knew there was too much info. and detail
in the book.
That being send,for me,this book to movie transfer was butchered!!
Why? Outside of the search for the four cardinals and the anti-
matter bomb there is little else that relates to the book.
The two MAJOR problems were the entire lack of motivation behind the
main characters actions and no character development.For example,in the book,the heroine,
Vittoria Vetra wants very much to be a part of the search for
the killer of her FATHER/scientific partner.In the movie she just
seems to tag along with Robert Langdon because she's just there.
In the movie the camerlengo kills and hires an assasin to kill because he feels his father the late pope is too liberal?
That's ridiculous.In the book his deep motivation is that he did
NOT know the pope was his father initially for many years.
He only knew that the man who became pope had looked after
him since he was a child.When the pope told him that he actually
was his biological son,the camerlengo was horrified to find
out that the pope had broken his vow of chastity.He had broken
his promise to God!!!This is what motivated the camerlengo in the book.
In the movie the assasin is just a cool unemotional hired killer.In the book he is a rabid nutcase who enjoys killing.
Because of the lack of strong motivation by the central characters
of the movie, it presents these people as having no depth and being more like cardboard cutouts.
Now for the ending.No I won't reveal it but,it reminded of
movies from the 50's where there is a miraculous event,and
everyone lives happily ever after.
I also feel that the makers of this movie were so wrapped up
in the set design and visual effects that they forgot about
character development.If you want to see a beautifully made
film about the slecting of a new pope, with great shots of Rome etc.,may I suggest The Shoes
of the Fisherman.In this movie they did not forgo character
development in favour of set design !!!
It struck me as strange that Robert Langdon virtually ignored
the stunning looking Ms.Vetra, yet in the the book he was strongly
attracted to her.
Personaly,I was really looking forward to seeing who would be selected to portray Max Kohler,the director of Cern.I think that part would have been any actors dream and if he was any good he
could have "chewed up the scenery."
Can anyone tell me the reason for changing the name of the cardinal who was chosen to be the great elector ( in charge of
conclave)from Mortati to Strauss or why the commander of the Swiss
guard was changed from Olivetti to Richter? Lastly why change the
design of the last branding iron? What's the point???
Lastly, I think ,to get the movie anywhere close to being like the book would have required 2 full discs because the book is incredibly detailed.

(An improvement from the first film, but that's not saying much.)
『THE DA VINCI CODE was easily one of the most lackluster action thrillers in recent ages. To be fair, the movie didn't have much going for it: miscasting in the lead role (Hanks is great, don't get me wrong, but he's not fit for thrillers); a short time frame (to cash in on the book's popularity); and a rather mediocre source novel (let's face it, Dan Brown isn't a literary master; he's just good at pushing buttons). The film had some good supporting performances, but overall it simply wasn't as good as a Ron Howard film should be.

ANGELS&DEMONS is an improvement from that. The film is pretty much a nonstop race to stop the religious terrorist organization Illuminati from setting off an anti-matter bomb. It picks up quickly and never rests. It isn't quite as good as the book--the novel, while no great piece of literature, is a decent-enough thriller, and far better than its sequel--but let's blame that on the PG-13 rating; the novel was gory and dark, with a truly haunting premise and enough truth-bending "facts" to make for a thoughtful (if not accurate) thrill ride. The film has toned it down a bit, honing the dark, rough edges to make it a little more palatable for movie-going audiences. And sure, it still doesn't feel like a Ron Howard film (anybody could have made this); and sure, Tom Hanks is STILL miscast; but we have three great supporting roles--from Stellan Skarsgard, Ewen McGreggor, and Armin Mueller-Stahl--and enough action for us to forgive the fact that the movie doesn't go as far with its subject as it should.

Of course, thrillers like this--where the facts are bent, where the action and cliched dialogue is laid on so thick that close inspection of the details is all but impossible--have their audience, and ANGELS&DEMONS delivers to that audience in spades. So, in those regards, this film is definitely worth seeing if you're a fan of the genre. If, on the other hand, you're like me and just wanted to kill two hours with some mindless entertainment, you can see this one or not; you won't be missing much, but it is, if nothing else, entertaining. Perhaps that's the best we can expect from mainstream Hollywood these days. (Though we certainly expect more from Ron Howard.)』

『I LOVE the book! I thought I would be dissapointed with the movie considering the other reviews. No, the movie did not follow the book and some of the characters are missing or different. However, this movie was great. The main storyline is still there and it makes a good partner to the book. I was much more satisfied with this book adaptation than I was with the Davinci Code adaptation. If you loved the book, I think you will thoroughly enjoy this movie. I love how it tied into Davinci Code with the score. For all of those who complain that the book is so much better....well of course, the book is always better because you form the movie in your mind. That being said...This movie is great!』

『Very briefly, I would like to begin by addressing some of the criticism concerning this movie.

Some are unhappy because the movie does not closely follow the book. This happens to be true but how many book-based movies do? For the sake of movie-making, Dan Brown's book was not followed to the letter or even closely. However, it may be worth knowing that Dan Brown was the movie's executive producer and he absolutely approved all the major plot changes. If fact, he confesses to actually suggesting some of the major changes. Perhaps those who read the book should treat the movie as work 'related' to the book but not THE book illustrated. It's still Dan Brown's work but this is cinematography that was inspired by his book, to be appreciated and enjoyed as a movie.

I heard statements that the book was somehow anti-Christian or anti-Catholic. I disagree. I will not reveal the plot by providing substantial details but the movie concludes in a way that suggests respect for religious faith and the Catholic church, in fact, comes out looking pretty good.

Angels&Demons besides being a feast to the eyes, it succeeds in arousing the viewer's curiosity in more than one area: contemporary physics, Rome's landmarks, the Vatican. And those who watched the movie and may find themselves in Rome and at the Vatican are more likely than not to actually look for some of the landmarks featured in Angels&Demons. In fairness, Angels&Demons does not come close to The DaVinci Code's Earth-shattering scope, depth of research and sophistication but it's still unmistakenly Dan Brown and those who enjoyed the Code will probably love A&D. Those who hated the Code are likely to hate A&D more. To me, Dan Brown's works are not art and they aren't science but they are great, well researched entertainment that often challenge the reader's/viewer's preconceived opinions and stimulate further research and investigation - and this is a good thing.

When it comes to acting Tom Hanks does not disappoint as Robert Langdon but Ewan McGregor lacks the gravitas we would expect from an acting Pope. All others are up to the job but I didn't see any Oscar-quality performances and didn't expect to.

The special effects - when it comes to the recreation of St. Peter Square and parts of the Vatican - are nothing short of amazing. Like I said, the movie is a feast to the eyes and, for all intents and purposes, what you see is always Rome and the Vatican, even when the cameras were filming some California parking lot.


PACKAGING AND PRESENTATION

Sony is totally throwing the kitchen sink at us with this Blu edition. As the Blu standard bearer and main promoter, they want to show us what Blu can do to make our lives a little more interesting. Everything that you can think of when you think Blu-ray and more 'is in there'.

Everything is good quality, starting with the Blu case which is not the cheap, perforated, almost falling apart kind that some of the lesser editions are using these days.

The decision to include both the theatrical version AND the extended cut on the same disc is responsible for this being a 3-disc set with a second disk carrying the special features and a third dedicated to the digital copies.

Technically speaking, the picture is, of course, a sharp 1080p and the two available sound tracks are both DTS-HD Master Audio in English and French. Surprisingly, the bonus features are shot in high-def as well with 2.0 stereo for the soundtrack.


SPECIAL FEATURES - BLU-RAY

Besides BD-Live, a number of interesting Blu-specific features are available with this release.

The Path of Illumination emulates a trail through Rome, following Robert Langdon's through 5 Roman landmarks. It has high visuals, interviews, footage from each location, even a dictionary where dozens of terms are explained. Anyone passing through Rome could walk the path with the Path of Illumination feature serving as a travel guide.

CineChat is another Sony attempt to promote more interactivity. It allows those watching the movie to organize themselves into a viewing party and actually have their chats displayed on-screen as the movie is playing.

The movieIQ option is a BD-Live powered option. It logs into and checks some online database and provides up-to-date information about the movie and specific chapters while watching the movie. Pretty cool actually and not over-distracting, especially considering that this is not information 'burned' into the disc and it is updated, at least in theory if not in practice.

The digital copy, if this can go under Blu-ray specific features, is available for the PC, PSP (via PS3), Mac and iPod. Expires on 2/12/2010.


THE OTHER EXTRAS

Not as interactive as the BD-specific ones, they are also shot in hi-def for the Blu version, there are lots of shorts about the 'making of', actors, special effects, as expected. The featurette titled 'Writing Angels&Demons' should be of special interest because it's there where Dan Brown confesses to his specific agreement and cooperation on altering the story. Another interesting extra is on the CERN. Finally, we actually get to see and hear the real-life John Langdon, the person who served as the inspiration for the Robert Langdon character - he specializes in 'ambiagrams', of course.


MY RATING

I found this movie to be entertaining and to carry sufficient 'substance' to merit watching maybe more than once. The quality of the Blu rendition is nothing short of exquisite and the extras, both Blu-specific and the regular ones are worth watching and interacting with.

Angels&Demons is a keeper and, as a work of entertainment, it's a 5-star in my book.』

『Dan Brown's controversial novel "The Da Vinci Code" was a best seller and the film adaptation of the film was box office gold as the film grossed over $758 million worldwide. Needless to say, controversy helped catapult this film and the novel and it was no surprise when it was announced that Ron Howard ("A Beautiful Mind", "Frost/Nixon", "Cinderella Man", "Apollo 13) would return as director and Tom Hanks ("Forrest Gump", "Castaway", "Big", "Sleepless in Seattle", "Saving Private Ryan") as the main character Robert Langdon in an adaptation of Dan Brown's 2000 mystery-thriller novel "Angels&Demons".

The film would feature a screenplay by David Koepp ("Hack", "War of the Worlds", "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", "Ghost Town") and Akiva Goldsman ("I Am Legend", "I Robot", "Cinderella Man"). Music for the film is by Hans Zimmer ("Frost/Nixon", "The Dark Knight", "Kung Fu Panda", "Pirates of the Carribean" films) and cinematography by Salvatore Totino ("Cinderella Man", "Changing Lanes", "Frost/Nixon"). The film The film opened in May 2009 and like "That Da Vinci Code", received a lot of controversy and did well in the box office as "Angels&Demons" made over $485 million.

Now "Angels&Demons" receives its entry to High Definition with a two-disc Blu-ray release which includes the theatrical and extended edition version of the film plus a third disc which contains a digital copy of the movie.


VIDEO&AUDIO:

"Angels&Demons" is featured in 1080p High Definition (with an aspect ratio of 2:40:1). The film looks absolutely stunning on Blu-ray. Salvatore Totino and Ron Howard make a great filmmaking couple as the Director has trusted Totino to capture the setting in Rome and its people with clarity, amazing detail of the various architecture and the surrounds outside the Vatican. And of course, the skin pores and detail on the characters face. It's all captured quite well and to add to that, a nice fine layer of grain. Overall, picture quality is fantastic.

And as for audio quality, the film is presented in English and French 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Unlike "The Da Vinci Code", "Angels&Demons" is a film that features a lot of action scenes (which either is going to make you feel its going a bit too farfetched or will make you feel that it's wonderful). From the gunshots from the assassin, the helicopter overhead, the cars racing and of course the anti-matter scenes, there is a good use of audio because of those action sequences. But what about the ambiance of a crowded area of the Vatican. Yes, you can hear the crowds with clarity and you can hear the people in the Vatican chit chatting, it's a wonderful use of the soundscape. But the main thing that you will notice right off the bat is Hans Zimmer's music. The music plays a big part of the "Angels&Demons" in creating that feel of action, sadness or the key dramatic moments. Overall, this is another lossless soundtrack that really utilizes audio completely well. It's not a full-on action-based film but it's a film that does sound remarkably well.

Subtitles are in English, English SDH and French.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

"Angel&Demons" has a second Blu-ray disc primarily for the special features. The special features are all in High Definition, in English (Stereo) and also has English subtitles. Included are:

JUDGMENT CALL:

"Angels&Demons" is one of those films that you either love or hate, as the same situation with "The Da Vinci Code".

I found the film to be quite entertaining and the cinematography and music to really enhance the film because the biggest problem that I found was the overuse of CG. I know the goal was to show how religion and science can work together but I tend to have a disdain towards films that try to be real but overuse CG in ways that are a bit farfetched.

Also, there was a problem with character development. In "The Da Vinci Code", there were characters that you actually cared about. With "Angels&Demons", I could hardly care for the Dr. Vetra because she's hardly around Robert for most of the film. That's what I enjoyed about the last film, the characters of Audrey Tautou's Agent Sophie Neveu and Dr. Robert Langdon developed well over the course of the film, while in "Angels&Demons"...somehow the symbiologist ends up becoming an action-hero, escaping major predicaments, one after the other and it was one thing to see it happen but seeing him do it over and over again, was a bit too farfetched for my taste. I wanted to see more of that intelligence and knowledge in symbiology and history to play a big part of the film.

But the saving grace for this film was my appreciation of "Angels&Demons" cinematography and music. Similar to how Jacques Tati made the city come alive in a film like "Playtime", Rome was captured as is. No matter how many people were loitering near the set, director Ron Howard wanted to capture the city and its beauty and they succeeded.

This is definitely a beautiful film and the Blu-ray release definitely brings out the film's detail and clarity. I was quite impressed with the picture quality, although the CG was just a bit too out-of-place it seemed. But the overall locations of where the film was shot and the creating of the sets to make the film come alive and make a set in Los Angeles look like Rome, a job well done by the production department.

And the lossless soundtrack is solid as well. Special features wise, "The Da Vinci Code" was packed with bonus features but "Angels&Demons" had about seven major features and no commentary track by Ron Howard either. But I did enjoy the use of "The Path of the Illumination" featuring the various areas around Rome.

Overall, "Angels&Demons" is an entertaining film, it's an ambitious and beautiful looking film that looks and sounds fantastic on Blu-ray. But the film does have its shortcomings and some scenes are a bit farfetched, but yet in the end, I found the overall content and presentation of "Angels&Demons" on Blu-ray to be quite fascinating and entertaining and feel it is definitely worth checking out.』

『If the devil is in the details, there's a lot of wicked fun inAngels&Demons, the sequel (originally a prequel) toThe Da Vinci Code. Director Ron Howard delivers edge-of-your-pew thrills all over the Vatican, the City of Rome, and the deepest, dankest catacombs. Tom Hanks is dependably watchable in his reprised role as Professor Robert Langdon, summoned urgently to Rome on a matter of utmost urgency--which happens to coincide with the death of the Pope, meaning the Vatican is teeming with cardinals and Rome is teeming with the faithful. A religious offshoot group, calling themselves the Illuminati, which protested the Catholic Church's prosecution of scientists 400 years ago, has resurfaced and is making extreme, and gruesome, terrorist demands. The film zooms around the city, as Langdon follows clues embedded in art, architecture, and the very bone structure of the Vatican. The cast is terrific, including Ewan McGregor, who is memorable as a young protégé of the late pontiff, and who seems to challenge the common wisdom of the Conclave just by being 40 years younger than his fellows when he lectures for church reform. Stellan Skarsgard is excellent as a gruff commander of the Swiss Guard, who may or may not have thrown in with the Illuminati. But the real star of the film is Rome, and its High Church gorgeousness, with lush cinematography by Salvatore Totino, who renders the real sky above the Vatican, in a cataclysmic event, with the detail and majesty of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. --A.T. (Only one reason its missing a star)
『This was a fantastic and world class film, Julie Taymor is a master of matching images to music to evoke emotions, thought, and keep your attention. One of the most fantastic examples of this is the song "She's So Heavy" from the movie.

"She's So Heavy" is one of the best musical numbers in the film, and certainly a visual and auditory feast I will not soon forget. Its brilliant recontextualization of the song's lyrics will stay with me for years to come. However, it won't stay with this album. It is not a part of this album. Although countless songs you probably did not even notice being in the movie are included, things that had been background music (and very good as it was) and not particularly memorable.

However, "She's So Heavy" was removed from this soundtrack. The only way to get THAT song is through iTunes. While I use iTunes and am a big fan of it, I am rather perturbed that it has the power to remove music from an album to make it exclusive content for themselves.

Admittedly, after buying the CD I also bought the song on iTunes in order to complete the album, as there is by no stretch of the imagination any way you can call this album complete without it.

That is the only reason I give this 4 stars rather than 5. This is like a the best of the Beatles album given a fresh new spin with a remarkably talented cast. I highly recommend it.』

『If you love the movie (or even some of the Beatles songs) then this is just right. I received this as an anniversary gift and have listened to it extensively over the last month. With no comparison to the Beatles, it is a great soundtrack. However, having heard the original songs, some of them are quite different (not necessarily worse, but different) as they tend to be for "remakes".』
『Given a track record littered by misfired oddities like the Bee Gees starring in the 1978 movie version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, successfully transforming The Beatles' epochal oeuvre into film musicals has been an elusive alchemy. Yet director Julie Taymor's 1968-centered, socio-political romance is more than just a stunning visual achievement. Its soundtrack brings a crucially intimate, emotionally engaging sensibility to its rich catalog of Beatles source material. Using an approach she rightly dubbed "organic," Taymor never gets too ambitious with the original arrangements, balancing the plaintive, often stark performances of central young stars Jim Sturgess and Evan Rachel Wood with equally compelling turns by supporting players Carol Woods and Joe Anderson. The stars successfully evoke early Beatlemania via the energetic charms of Sturgess' "All My Loving" and Wood's "It Won't Be Long," then get straight to the canon's often melancholy heart on his take of "In My Life," and her gentle cover of "Blackbird." Taymor's use of star turns--the entire point of too many Beatles-rooted projects--is as sparing as it is deft. Eddie Izzard's effusive "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" is the product of several edited improvisations, while U2's Bono and Edge re-imagine "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" by way of Pink Floyd. (GOING WITH THE FLOW)
『Colorful fairytale images traipsed across the screen in this adventure "peopled" with strange creatures and confusing happenings.

It has been years since I've read the book, which is up next on my list, and I've never seen the film. My grandson Noah watched it with me, and his giggles and exclamations told me how delightful this experience was for him.

I am sure that the movie, like the book, is full of symbolism that certainly escaped me in my childhood, and which my grandson was not noticing, either.

But in this moment, I felt like simply enjoying the playful creatures. Instead of being upset by growing larger and smaller, or by the strange playing cards that danced, Alice was obviously living in the moment, simply exclaiming "Curiouser and curiouser."

Living in a world that defies the logic that we are accustomed to reminds me of the society in which we now live. Perhaps this tale is a statement about our world and Alice's response to the events and creatures she encounters could be a lesson of sorts. That adjusting and adapting are preferable to fighting against things over which we have no control.

Alice (voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) has all the anticipated experiences: shrinking and growing, meeting the White Rabbit, having tea with the Mad Hatter, etc. Characterization is very strong, and the Disney team worked hard to bring screen personality to Carroll's eccentric creations. 『My daughter and I are big fans of Tinker Bell, the first movie that came out. We enjoyed the story, the animation, and found it very funny. Even now my daughter still laughs despite having watched it so many times. I read the reviews for the Lost Treasure and decided to take a chance on it. Like many 5-star reviewers, we enjoyed the story of Tinker Bell's lesson that friendship is the "lost" treasure and the bigger role of Terrance in the movie. It was very funny, maybe a little more than the first Tinker Bell (for us), and it had the same great animation. With the exception of America Ferrera, the Lost Treasure also had the same great voices. If you and the kids enjoyed the first one, I can't see any reason why you wouldn't like the Lost Treasure. Just keep in mind that her friends Silvermist, Rosetta, Fawn, and Iridessa have small parts this time around. The ending was pretty spectacular by the way!』

Tinkerbell lashes out at Terrence and then departs alone on a desperate quest to fix the moonstone. What Tinkerbell learns on her journey is that she must take responsibility for her own actions and that the power and value of true friendship is much greater than she'd ever imagined. Like the firstTinkerbell, the colors and clarity of animation are simply breathtaking in this production, but the story lags somewhat thanks to a lengthy set up and a general lack of suspense in the first half of the film. Still, it's a perfectly entertaining movie that will delight children ages 3 and up as well as satisfy most parents. 『These DVD blanks were just what I expected. I have used them before and they are highly compatible with almost all DVD players. I have yet to have one of my recordings come back because of a disk error.

(Inconsistent quality: some DOA, others burnt OK but unplayable after several months)
『Out of a 50-spindle, I found five dead-on-arrival (DOA). My writing software quickly rejected them with an error message after a few seconds of burning. I found that if my writing software detected the blanks as "2x, 4x" or "2x, 4x, 6x" media, then I would have a greater chance of a coaster. Sometimes ejecting and reinserting the blank would cause the software to detect it correctly as "2x, 4x, 6x, 8x" media. All of the DOA's were toward the bottom of the spindle.

A few others that were successfully burnt and tested, became flaky after several months. My DVD player would refuse to play them initially. After a couple eject and reinsert cycles, the burned DVD would eventually play. It's not my player that's causing the trouble; inserting a pressed retail DVD would always spin up correctly.

I notice that unlike the Verbatim branded products, these lack a "Limited Lifetime Warranty" in the product description. Also, while the Verbatim branded products are at 16x, these have an "Up to 8x" disclaimer on the package label. It certainly looks like these disks are the ones that failed 16x quality control and then re-packed as a separate product line.』

Did a little research and Seagate has the highest reliability rating. So far it's been working great. It doesn't get any easier.』

(Museum-Quality Data Storage)
『My external HDDs in use now total 4, and I wanted a sleek vertical form factor so that I could line them all up in a small space under the desk where they will be cool, protected and out of the way. The soft white glow from under the base and from the Seagate logo bathes one of the darkest places in the house with convenient and aesthetic walkway lighting when the computer is turned off or the drives are in use. Silent for practical purposes, I've not yet known them to overheat. The rest is speed, which is constrained by the cable standard in use, and reliability. As to the latter, all I can say is "so far so good" after about 6 weeks.』

『The Seagate FreeAgent Hard Drive for Mac is easy to set up and get running with Time Machine. Backup is automatic and you don't have to think about it. Moving or copying files to the hard drive was also easy.

However, for a product that is supposedly compatible with a Mac, the hard drive disconnects when my iMac goes to sleep. When coming out of sleep mode, the iMac gives an error message that the hard drive has disconnected. I emailed Seagate about this issue, and after several rounds of emails with multiple people, their "mac expert" said that the problem has something to do with the firewire connection. The Seagate person said it was an issue with Apple and the operating system, and that the hard drive was fine. If that is the case, then the drive is not fully compatible with the iMac. I've dealt with this issue by using sleep mode less frequently, and hoping that my files are getting backed up most of the time.』

(Problems with Windows 7)
『This drive worked great with Windows Vista (one of the few things that worked great with Vista), but I am having problems since upgrading to Windows 7.

I am using a firewire connection. So far, the only way to get the drive to work is to either uninstall the driver and reboot windows, or unplug the power cord and plug it back in. This works, but after a while, Windows stops seeing the drive again.

Microsoft has been of no help (surprise), but Seagate tech support has responded to email. I will update this review when there is a status change.

This is a follow up on the status of this drive.

Seagate has ended up being of very little help. In fact, the only thing they really did was blame the computer manufacture, and finally, Microsoft. Consequently, I ended up updating all software (bios, etc) available for the computer and everything available from Microsoft (drivers, etc). None of these steps helped.

When I told Seagate about the steps I had performed, they still tried to blame anything, and everything, except the hard drive. Even after I ran a diagnostic program that indicated the drive was faulty, they denied anything was wrong with the drive.

Finally, I insisted that I wanted a replacement, and they agreed. They were not the least bit friendly about this. Now, I get to ship the drive back to Seagate at my expense. In addition, they will not ship a replacement until they receive the old drive.

This is the second defective Seagate drive I have gotten in just over two years. I would think twice about purchasing this drive, or any other Seagate product.

I will update this posting when I get the new drive.

『Let me preface my review by stating that I received this drive as a certified refurbished model from Seagate as a warranty replacement. Given that the old drive was over 2 years old and only 750 GB I don't feel much like complaining.

The drive enclosure itself is plastic. It feels sturdy enough, but my previous one was aluminum and had great heat dissipation. Since this drive does not include a fan I am moderately concerned for its long term durability, especially when transferring huge blocks of data at a time. It has a fairly loud wind up noise when you first plug it in, but afterward you'll only ever hear a whispering hum for the most part.

The software appears to be simple enough to use. The encryption feature seems a bit too open for my tastes, but that's what Truecrypt is for. The software also includes a diagnostic test for the drive which somehow thought my drive was failing every other day. After several sweeps using Windows disk check and a few third party programs I suspect that it's wrong. The backup feature is fairly simple to use, and I had no problems with it when I had it installed.

The 5 year warranty that they offer is quite nice. I'm not sure of any other manufacturer that has such a lengthy warranty for an external drive. The warranty process is fairly simple and consists of inputting a few minor details and the drive serial number into their website. The drive they'll send back is refurbished (which seems to be the industry standard), and if they don't have the exact model you sent them they'll probably upgrade you (which they did for me). You can also pay $20 to have them ship the new drive over to you with 2 day shipping allowing you to backup the data on your old drive and wipe out the data for your security.

Overall a pretty good drive, and great warranty.』

If viewed from this point of view, this camera is quite good - one puts it in "smart" mode and it will take care of most everything else for you. Yes, this isn't a DSLR and cannot be compared in the same light. When compare with my "larger" camera, this simply lacks the finesse, precision and speed. Then again, this is just a point and shot! Judging from that perspective, this is good and fills the bill.

What it can do better is a larger battery - taking<120 pictures between charges isn't good enough! Also, the use of microSD instead of standard SD is a pain.』

『Like many others I did my homework before purchasing this camara. I am going to Europe next week and I have owned 4 digital camaras previously.

THIS CAMARA IS SIMPLE "FANTASTIC" and I am trying to highlight it because I want you to know it.

The front viewer is the main reason I bought it. When you are under the Eifel tower with your baby you want a picture of the tower but you also want to be included in the picture, always one of us has to left out. NOT ANYMORE.

If you are a single mother, I am sure you want to be in the pictures with your son/daughter. GREAT way to do it. I turned on the shoot when smile feature and it just works beautifully.

I will try to answer a couple of questions I saw people posted in other reviews. Yes the camara uses micro SD and someone thought that was a problem because of adapters. Not sure why because the camara comes with a USB cable that one plugs into the PC and voila all the pictures are copied to the PC and you don't have to anything else.

It comes with Intelli-Studio software that it's very user friendly and allows you to do all the things that I normally did at Wallgreens kiosks like adding frames, text, turn into blank and white or sephia. You don't even need to install it. FANTASTIC is an understatement.

The zoom is better than most camaras 4.6 is great and the quality of the pictures is superb.

This is a camara for the casual user that likes to take pictures like a pro but doesn't have the time or the money to take classes.

For the guy who goes to bars and want to take pictures and expect them to come out OK; I turned the lights off in my studio, pointed and shooted to my face and the picture came out perfect.
This is something I will never do but if I ever need it, now I know I can do it.

I want to close this with my most sincere congratulation to the engineering team at SAMSUNG. You guys know what you are doing. Keep up the good work !!!

I still haven't take any video o played with all the features in the camara but in the time that I spent with it, I can only say "I am so glad I am taking it with me to Europe"

(Is Megatron a Mega-Toy?)
『I'm a little late to the party on Revenge of the Fallen Megatron. He wasn't in my top list of picks but I picked him up on a whim and put him though the paces. In ROTF old Megatron is back in action thanks to a little Decepticon cannibalism at the bottom of the ocean and has been upgraded with treads.

For Kids:
Giant robot, giant gun, giant tank, lights and sounds, shooting projectile, transformer... I see no negatives here for a kid to have a blast with Megatron. Not to mention he has a sleek alien cool look to him. If your kid liked the movies at all or just likes cool toys I'd say this guy's a sure bet. His transformation is easier than it looks like it would be as well and with a little demonstration a kid should get it.

For Adults:
The improvement to the robot form here over the movie one version is on par with what was done with Optimus Prime and Starscream. He looks much sleeker, less clunky and more screen accurate than his movie one counterpart. Also, his redesign into a more tank like being as opposed to a jet like being gives him a much tougher look. I'm impressed with the detail and looks of his legs this time around. The foot treads look really cool. The more robust nature of his legs and feet allow for deep and impressive posing. His right arm is a humongous gun - seriously it's huge - while his left is a spindly little thing with long fingers. That's not to say it looks bad but it does look a little funny in comparison to his tank gun arm.

While never as much as there could be what paint is here is clean and looks good. He's molded in a light grey to approximate silver. The treads are black and there is some black paint to point out some details of his face like his tiny sharp teeth. There's a pretty good amount of detail painted into the machinery in the treads. His eyes and some areas under his chest are clear red.

The transformation (especially compared to Optimus) is almost a piece of cake. In very simplified terms it involves swinging his arms back and around (the big gun may pop off during transformation but easily pops back on), tilting his legs correctly and flattening them out into the tank treads, moving the jets to the back of the tank and clicking the gun in place then finishing off with little detail flips and clicking tabs as usual.

Tank mode looks great. It's an alien looking affair but not so crazy looking as to be unidentifiable. The layout of the treads gives it an interesting look and the jets at back make you think this is one tank that could set some land speed records. If the gun could rotate it would be the only improvement I can think of.

Action features include three sounds - A gun firing sound as you move the gun arm around or fire it from tank mode, a transformation sound during the leg part of transformation and of course, "I AM MEGATRON!" in a booming voice as you push the lever in his chest down. Pushing the lever causes the gears in his chest to move and bright red lights to flare in his chest and eyes. He has a shooting projectile and the back of the gun can swing forward and at the push of a button a sword pops out.

I have to say this is a better looking and much more fun toy than I expected. I have to be fair and say there is nothing that bothers me about this guy. Usually there's something - some aspect of the look or paint or the difficulty of transformation - that's not the case here so I have no reason not to give him five stars.』

(Better than the first)
『This Megatron is in my opinion, better than the first movie version. He looks menacing
with light-up red eyes with voice gimmick, "I am Megatron!". He is fairly posable. Some people
complain there's no elbow joint in his right death hand but in my view, it's still a cool toy.
Megatron is about same height as leader-class Optimus. But you know what? He's waay easier
to transform than Optimus! Megatron transforms to alien tank. Because he didn't scan the
earth vehicle like Optimus. Good news to the parents huh?』

(Have no words, Just GOOOD...)
『Its a very close reproduction of movie Megatron, but is a shame that it doesn't have much articulation on both arms, but overall, it's a great piece for a collectionist, even to play with its very fun, what can I say...』

『THE GOOD:

Purchased this gift for hubby and he loved it! Of course, he's a big Transformer's enthusiast and I know he's been trying to build up his Decepticon's collection and figured Megatron would be a great add!

THE BAD:

My hubby did say that while he was transforming it, some pieces stuck and at one point had to use a butter knife to un-wedge a piece&now that piece hangs a little loose but I/he considers this issue hardly worth mentioning..

OVERALL:
Great gift for a Transformers / Decepticons / Megatron fan!』
