Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Skate or Die poster) 『The description for this product is misleading. It is not appropriate for a child's room.』
(not for kids) 『I ordered this for my 8-year old son, who loves Tech Deck mini skateboards and skateboarding in general. I could not increase the size of the image to see the detail on the mini boards.
The poster looks great and arrived in excellent condition, but many of the images on the small boards are inappropriate for children. They are half-naked, provacative animae-type images. It's going in the closet until he's much older.』

(Inspiring, uplifting, fun!) 『I watch this or any other Hicks dvd at least 5-6x a week. I watch first thing in the morning and whenever I'm not able to connect with feeling good within myself. The dvd is the roadmap I use to navigate my way back to me. In this dvd, the energy is quite different from some of their other dvd's. There is a substantial feeling of power, of truth, exuberance coming from Abraham. It's a bit hard to describe, but it can be felt.
Abraham's dedication to giving a multitude of ways to look at an issue always brings enlightenment, understanding and a feeling of freedom, especially a feeling of peace. My life has become easier, happier, I am more at peace with myself and especially those around me. I get parking spaces up front, things are always working out for me and my needs are always met. Life is good. Of course, I have to do the work of reprograming my navigation system, and at times it feels like an overwhelming task, it's at those times I pop in the dvd, this one especially, and get back to where I'm going, get back to feeling good. This is an excellent tool to guide you to where you're going. Now in my 50's my life has been an amazing adventure bringing me to the intersections of happiness and joy, freedom and peace, made possible with the accelerated learning I'm receiving from reading, watching and listening to Abraham. The better I feel, the better it gets.......』
(Watching the hot seats are so much better than just listening) 『I have been listening to the work of A-H for many years. What I have found is that seeing them in person or watching DVDs like this one are far better than listening to audio. You do get a lot of the audios (and they are more convenient to listen to if you don't have time to watch), but there's just something about seeing the people ask questions and see Esther interact with them. This is, by far, one of the best DVDs in the series. I suggest you get them all, but if you only want to get one, try this one. The advice given by Abraham is extraordinary.』
(Let Loose! The Law of Attraction In Action...) 『As a long time students of Abraham (Esther&Jerry Hicks), we found this DVD to be one of the best. Actually, videos of the teachings are far superior to the books, which lack real live footage that leads to greater comprehension.

In episode ten of this wildly popular series, Abraham continues to astonish, elucidate and entertain! Topics include: fate, fortune-telling, learning to just enjoy life, the blissful energy of meditation, teaching tough kids, lawsuits, pets, workplace freedom, and Why dont the Hicks charge less money so more people can benefit? You did not come into this life experience to get it done. You did not come for marks on the chart. You did not come to get things done so that you could look back and say look what I did! I want to emphasize that this DVD is among the best of all the Sesame Street DVDs.
The song production and animated skits are very good. Our 3yo son is entertained and actually educated on useful topics. Not boring to me when I watch it with him.
This and the Elmo's Potty Time DVD are our favorites. ---- Contrast with the Sesame Street Counting 1-2-3 DVD with Ernie, which is acceptable but annoying to watch with our son. I'm happy when he picks this one out to watch.』
(Really great Elmo's World DVD) 『My 17 month old son loves this DVD. We have a few others but this one by far has kept his interest and he really has learned about up/down, fast/slow, open/close. We got this DVD two months ago. Earlier in July we went camping with a bunch of family&friends. A couple of the older (3-6 Yr olds) made a see-saw from a 2x4 piece of wood laid over a big round log. My son was entranced. He kept asking for "up/down" and pointing at the see-saw. Now he walks around and say 'Up. Down." as he squats and stands. Too cute. I highly recommend this DVD』
(Up Down, Near far) 『Great intro to the opposite theme, up/down, slow/fast, open/closed. My son loves it and says up/down whenever he hears someone say either word. Elmo is a great introducer of concepts.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Should be in everyone's video collection) 『The Power of Myth is perfect for thoughtful and curious persons of the human race! Campbell had such a unique global perspective of mythology, he was truly a respected authority and philosopher. Certainly I have been "caught" by the messages in Power of Myth; it has made the mystery of life more alive for me in ways religion and spiritual gurus have not. The DVD also has special features like an interview with George Lucas, who was befriended and mentored by Campbell.』
(phenomenalogist par excellence) 『What Joe Campbell adds to Carl Jung, if such is possible, should be acknowledged. His answer to "how do you know?" is a showstopper: personal experience. And he asks us to use the same measuring tape in constructing our mythical minds. Bill Moyer wants to know what happens when you "follow your bliss" -- Campbell's pithy adage for spiritual success. Answer to the koan? You find it. And much more in this sage multi-cultural adventure. It's memorable and gift-worthy for those looking for themselves in all the wrong places. However, to my mind, what's missing here is Jung's wisdom in recognizing the Feminine for what it is: a separate psychological reality and pathway beyond social roles or male projections -- outside of male Hero mythology. (We often experience things differently, such as the phenomena of childbirth) We're fortunate to have embraced them both on our Planet.』
(Unethical bookseller.) 『I received a two-disk DVD of The Power of Myth. Both disks were the same. I communicated by email with this seller (Arthur), who replied that I could return it for a full refund. I asked for the address. I have never heard back from them. I would say that these people are unethical, and I would avoid all dealings with them. I would give zero stars.』
(story time) 『Highly recommended. Get it or rent it from your library. This "Power of Myth" series is a great landmark of American television. Few are as charismatic and knowledgeable of this subject matter and as natural a teacher as Campbell. It is a pleasure just listening to the old man recount the old stories and make them come alive. Imagine sitting at a campfire with Campbell as your storyteller. Something in you would be touched as you participate in a ritual older than civilization and as old as our race. The Power of Myth is as close as you can get to being with Campbell at the campfire. But he mostly gets asked a lot of good questions. Questions you'd want to ask him about what it all means, after you hear his retelling of a great tale. Recorded in the late 1980s, shortly before Joseph Campbell's death, it is the culmination of his long, influential life as our society's greatest teacher of the old myths, spiritual traditions, and folklore. It is also one of the great accomplishments in the long and remarkable career of arguably one of America's greatest journalists Bill Moyers.
To this day people are discovering this series and being inspired and it will continue to inspire for many years to come. *Power* of myth. There is power here. Campbell was primarily interested in how these stories could empower YOU. He talked much about societal functions these myths had, but what is best about Campbell seems to me, now years after discovering him, is the inspirational aspect of his work -to the individual- and the delight it provides to your imagination. Worlds open up. Ancient and seemingly eternal. Many have gone before you and many will come after you. You relate to this chain and do not feel alone. Reading Campbell is *fun*. The guy has been accused of being right-wing. Don't know about that. Don't care. Campbell is a humanist. Maybe he'd disagree? But his work is humanistic. Yes, there are debates about Campbell's interpretation of myths and religions. I actually agree with some fundamental criticisms, but I still appreciate this series and very much value my experience of it and I value Campbell's work.
』
(Recommended to ALL) 『I first saw this DVD as an assignment in a culture class in college. It most definitely changed my life. Joseph Campbell's enlightened perspective gave me the ability to rise above my life long struggle with faith, religion and beliefs. I don't feel confused about my own beliefs, I don't feel guilt or fear about what to believe, and I've gained a healthy respect&understanding for why people of all religions believe as they do. I cannot recommend it highly enough to EVERY SINGLE PERSON out there.』 『Joseph Campbell and the Power of Mythis essential viewing for anyone old enough to appreciate its vital teachings. One of the greatest interviews ever recorded, this six-part, six-hour encounter between teacher- mythologist Campbell and student-journalist Bill Moyers (recorded in the two years preceding Campbell's death in 1988) covers a galaxy of topics related to Campbell's central themes: Mythology is humanity's universal method of seeking the transcendental, and "follow your bliss" is the timeless formula for spiritual satisfaction. Campbell himself is the embodiment of these themes, an erudite scholar and quintessential storyteller, recalling a wide spectrum of myths from throughout history (Japanese, Native American, Egyptian, Mayan, and many more) to illustrate humankind's eternal quest to grasp the mysteries of creation. Historical artifacts and illustrations bring these timeless stories to life.
An astute interviewer, Moyers is an acolyte in perfect harmony with Campbell-as- mentor, wording questions with penetrating perfection as their intellectual dance reaches exhilarating heights of meaning and fascination. Moyers also finds the perfect hook for a global audience, examining Campbell's admiration of George Lucas'sStar Warssaga as a popular tapestry of ancient myths, and Lucas himself is interviewed in a DVD bonus segment ("I'm not creating a new myth," he says, "but telling old myths in a new way"). Campbell's seemingly endless well of knowledge reaches a simple conclusion: we need myths to survive like we need oxygen to breathe, as a life force with which to understand our existence--past, present, and future.--Jeff Shannon』
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (great classic!!) 『this is a great movie for the holidays. the costumes are stunning and the "white Christmas" song just melts the heart every time! it is a movie of a different era. one where scenes take longer to play out, the humor is simpler, and good, old fashion values are not forgotten. in the world we live in, movies are fast-paced and you are likely to miss something if you blink. this movie takes the time to develop characters and stories. it's a great movie for sitting back and relaxing while you enjoy your egg nog with the ones you love. make it a tradition!』

With memorable songs by Irving Berlin, such as "Snow," "Sisters" and "Gee! I Wish I Was Back in the Army," it will leave you humming its joyful tunes for weeks afterward.』 『This semi-remake ofHoliday Inn(the first movie in which Irving Berlin's perennial, Oscar-winning holiday anthem was featured) doesn't have much of a story, but what it does have is choice: Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, an all-Irving Berlin song score, classy direction by Hollywood vet Michael Curtiz (Casablanca,The Adventures of Robin Hood), VistaVision (the very first feature ever shot in that widescreen format), and ultrafestive Technicolor! Crosby and Kaye are song-and-dance men who hook up, romantically and professionally, with a "sister" act (Clooney and Vera-Ellen) to put on a Big Show to benefit the struggling ski-resort lodge run by the beloved old retired general (Dean Jagger) of their WWII Army outfit. Crosby is cool, Clooney is warm, Kaye is goofy, and Vera-Ellen is leggy. Songs include: "Sisters" (Crosby and Kaye do their own drag version, too), "Snow," "We'll Follow the Old Man," "Mandy," "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep," and more. Christmas would be unthinkable withoutWhite Christmas.--Jim Emerson』

(Best Little Whorehouse In Texas) 『Although a little racy it is a thoroughly enjoyable film for adults. burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton have great chemistry on the screen and although he is not the best singer for the couple of songs he sings in, he is by far not the worst. Dom Deluise is a riot as usual and although it is about a whorehouse, it does seem to humanize the situation a bit. I was totally happy that I could update my DVD collection with this to replace my VCR copy.』
(BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS) 『DOLLY PARTON AND BURT REYNOLDS WERE DYNAMITE IN THIS MUSICAL. SO WERE JIM NABORS, DON DELOUISE, CHARLES DURNING. (Fun...) 『This movie is so much fun to watch. It has lots of humor, but it also has a love story and political issues, not to mention the good looking young actors. Not often that you can have it all in one movie. I had this movie on VHS and had to get it on DVD. It is a movie I can watch over and over again. It is a feel good movie. If you need a lift, this is the movie for you.』 『This is an energetic, but ultimately mediocre adaptation of the play, directed on Broadway by Tommy Tune. Burt Reynolds is the town sheriff and a regular patron of a local bordello. He wages a public battle to keep it open after it is targeted as the devil's den by a television minister. Charles Durning was nominated for a Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, and there are some lively song and dance numbers featuring Dolly Parton as the madame of the Chicken Ranch. However, this becomes bogged down in too many serious moments for it to be more than a lightweight musical comedy.--Rochelle O'Gorman』

(EXCELLENT FINALE to Love Comes Softly--THIS ACTUALLY REVIEWS THE DVD AFTER ITS RELEASE) 『An excellent period film with a wholesome story throughout. Good FAMILY viewing, with action, suspense, drama, and some romance. A sequel to story #7, "Love Takes Wing", it is right on to bring a satisfying conclusion to the series based on the books of Janette Oke.
This 88 minutes brings Dr. Belinda Owens (Sarah Jones), now grown and married to Lee into several situations relating to a doctor's patients and their health concerns. At the same time, a friend from medical school, Dr. Annie Nelson, (two female doctors is unusual for the time period), arrives pregnant and stays with Belinda and Lee till the baby is due. Belinda has her own emotional issues to deal with as a result.
Lee is well played by Jordan Bridges, although looking a bit young to have the adopted daughter, Lillian (Courtney Halverson). Lil finds her own issues of becoming an adult and finding love. Also arriving on the scene is Annie's mother-in-law, midwife, and an outspoken lady, Mary (not other than Patty Duke, now 60-something but yet has what it takes to add to any movie.) Too many doctors for one child birth? OK, it's a Janette Oke story, so we all know it will end deliciously heartwarming and acceptable. But not till we have some heroics, suspense, and fist-o-cuffs. It can't all be sweet out west.
There is the expected religious aspect to the families that is a thread throughout the book series as well as the movie series. Faith is a motivating factor for many of the main characters in this story, but not preachy. Honestly, a film cannot replace all that is written into a book, just part. On the other hand, a movie CAN provide aspects to a story that can only be imagined in book pages.
DVD has English and Spanish Subtitles&captioning for the hearing impaired, or for those like us who like to catch all the names correctly. No other extras included.
Now, LOVE COMES SOFTLY, is complete as a book series AND a DVD series. Both are recommended. Both are worthy of 5 stars and a purchase for viewing or reading. Best solution: do both. Yes, I own them all, and glad of it. So is my wife.

Hardly.....) 『Its nice to see a director who is TRYING to get on the ball and follow beloved and long adored comic folklore with almost a religious respect for doctrine. But Z. Snyders adaptation of one of the most legendary is remarkably true to the text until THE END! At one of the greatest moments in comic book history his film-that was so true to a book that most of us who love it were willing to forgive dry acting and flat delivery of Allan Moores lines- completely CHANGED the end, blasted out one of the best points to ever be made in a comic series by making Dr Manhattan the cause of the earths cities destruction!!! Its no wonder Allan Moore didnt want his name attached to this project. There are so many things wrong with this change and so many questions it raises, especially since Americas enemies believed Dr Manhattan an American trick- there by negating the whole united front perspective. Ugh it was like eating the greatest meal of your life and then finding a cockroach in the last bite. If anything it will hopefully show Hollywood, as Iron Man 1 has, that the CLOSER u make these films to the books, the better they are. Good movie but the ultimate insult to real hardcore fans. So can the whole best adaptation reviews please.』
(Perfect Adaptation) 『Until March 6, 2009, it had been almost ten years since a good movie was last released.
I say 'good' movie, not 'movie I liked,' because I've seen a few movies I liked in the spaces between 2000 and 2008. The last 'good' movie that was released was Mary Harron's adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' "American Psycho," a movie that should have won an Oscar for best directing. But after that, I've been hard-pressed to see a movie that was truly 'good.' Post-9/11 movies seemed to tone down on story and crank up unnecessary special effects. Even the movies that won Oscars in the post-9/11 years weren't very 'good,' in the sense that they weren't memorable. I'll give you an example of a 'good' movie: The Godfather. The Godfather, whether you like it or not, is a good movie. There is no question that a high amount of care and love was put into that movie, and even if someone found it boring, or hated it, it is still a good movie, and nothing can change that. Regardless of what people may think, there is a very fine line between fact and opinion-- it is an opinion to dislike a film like The Godfather, but it is stone cold fact that The Godfather is a good movie, regardless of opinion. This brings me to the first good movie I've seen in the post-9/11 years...
Zack Snyder, best known for his adaptation of Frank Miller's "300," started directing late in life with his remake of George A. Romero's 'Dawn of the Dead,' now the Dawn of the Dead remake might not have been true to its source material, it may not have been a 'good' movie, but I enjoyed it, even more so than 300. But things started heating up in 2006, when Warner Bros announced a big-screen adaptation of Alan Moore's "Watchmen," a graphic novel that had been in the process of being made into a movie since 1988. The project went through several writers and directors, most noticeably writer Sam Hamm of 1989's "Batman" and director Terry Gilliam, who directed the movie 'Brazil.' Over the years the project was deemed 'unfilmable' by various directors, who all found themselves quitting the project. But finally, after a long uphill battle of writing and roundtable discussions, Zack Snyder was brought on board to do a rewrite of the script and direct the project. It was finished in 2007, but the film wasn't released until 2009, after a long lawsuit between Fox and Warner Bros, over who would get the distribution rights to the film. Thankfully, Warner Bros won the dispute, and Fox was cast back into the darkness, cut off from the Watchmen Franchise.
I saw the movie the day it opened, March 6, 2009. I'd read the graphic novel prior to seeing the movie, which made me a bit skeptic at the idea of adapting a project so massive and intricate, but after seeing the theatrical cut, I was blown away by the simple, yet complex film which told the story of the Watchmen in under three hours. It was, without question, one of the best book-to-movie adaptations I'd ever seen, and everything in the movie was done right (a lot of people dispute the slight ending change, but seriously-- a giant squid?) from start to finish. I've only seen maybe, one, other movie that was as true to its source material as Watchmen, it's called "The Godfather." All this I got from just the theatrical cut alone, which I saw in cinemas, twice. It had been ten years since I went to see a movie more than once in theaters, I enjoyed it that much. Since then a director's cut was released, but I did not buy it, because it was soon after announced that an 'ultimate cut' would be released, complete with the comic-within-the-comic as a cartoon, "The Tales Of The Black Freighter," sown back into it, making the film about three and a half hours long, the 'true,' version of Watchmen. Recently I ordered it, and am awaiting its delivery to my home. Watchmen is a shining example of both excellent writing and outstanding film-making. It's action-packed, thought-provoking, it has colorful characters and is set in a world of extraordinary circumstances. It's a good movie.
I recently ordered and received a copy of The Ultimate Cut of Zack Snyder's "Watchmen." Needless to say, it's fantastic. It weaves together the Director's Cut of the movie with the animated segments called 'The Tales of the Black Freighter,' completing the Watchmen experience, making it a nearly literal adaptation of Alan Moore's wonderful graphic novel. Whereas the theatrical cut gave us an abridged look at the Watchmen and their lives, the Director's cut expanded upon that, and The Ultimate Cut expands even further, with the movie-in-movie cartoon, which symbolizes the journey that the characters go through individually and the struggles they endure.
In reference to the title of this review, the film is a perfect adaptation; it uses anachronisms skillfully in order to slim down the overall weight of the book and like any adaptation, it adds certain elements that are either not in the source material, or are merely hinted at in said source material. The most noticeable in this movie would be the scene where, and yes, we're talking spoilers, where Doctor Manhattan kills Rorschach and Nite Owl sees it happen, which throws him into a fit of rage, making him beat up Adrian Veidt, who concocted the whole scheme to blow up several cities full of innocent people around the world in order to prevent nuclear war. But even if a Watchmen fan didn't like these little anachronisms, they were indeed necessary to the film's development, especially for modern audiences, who watch movies like "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," which have little to no plot or engaging material whatsoever. But I digress. As said, it's a perfect adaptation.
One thing you should know is, and a lot of people have complained about this-- is the ending is tweaked significantly. Allow me to explain. In the book, Ozymandias' grand master scheme was to send a genetically engineered squid into Manhattan to kill people in a giant explosion, thus uniting the world against a common enemy-- an 'alien' threat, but of course it wasn't really an alien, it was something Ozzy had created, but he intended for everyone to believe it was an extraterrestrial. In the movie it's a far more believable plot device: Adrian frames Doctor Manhattan and unites the world against him in order to prevent nuclear holocaust. The book and movie both end the same way, however, with Rorschach's journal in the newsroom of The New Frontiersman, where Seymour (maybe) picks it up and publishes it for all the world to see, possibly dooming humanity once more. In conclusion, Watchmen is one of the best movies I've ever seen, it has everything you could want in a movie, action, violence, romance, sex, good music and it's incredibly thought-provoking. If you've never heard of Watchmen, I suggest going to your local comic-book store and picking up a copy, then seeing The Ultimate Cut.
It's an experience you'll never forget.』
(A masterpiece) 『When the long-awaited adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' comic book masterpiece Watchmen was released, it proved to be, despite its flaws, undoubtedly the best adaptation that a fan of the comic could have ever hoped for. Those who found it boring, overlong, or just simply didn't "get it" need not apply here for this Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut edition, which pushes Zack Snyder's adaptation to a 3 and a half hour plus epic. Fully incorporating the animated Tales of the Black Freighter (intercut into segments) as well as deleted scenes from the first DVD and Blu-Ray releases of the film, Watchmen: The Ultimate Edition is a masterpiece of comic book to film adaptations that will not disappoint those who have long cherished the comic. The special features, which include commentary tracks from Snyder and Gibbons, as well as the brilliant Under the Hood segment, the various webisodes, and the Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic, are worthwhile enough (though one may wish that more would and could have been included features wise), and as for the film itself, the same flaws do remain: including the various alterations in the story (such as Rorschach's origin and the ending), and the fact that the film just isn't for everyone or those expecting to see guys in tights fighting the good fight. Despite its flaws though, the Watchmen film remains a labor of love that does Moore and Gibbons' masterwork, and now that it's in its complete form, is more than worth your time.』
(The greatest honor any film could ever recieve.) 『 I have already written a review on the original release of `Watchmen' on DVD. However, for you first time readers I have posted the original review of the movie along with my review of the Ultimate collection.
The comic book has now officially become the mainstream in the world of film. The major companies try to get their hands on every franchise they possibly can. The real question is once there is a movie in play how will translate to the big screen and who is the fan base? Well, we all have seen what `The Dark Knight' and `Spider-Man' have done. Still, what about the no so main stream novels such as `300'? There are directors out there that don't want to make a movie in their own vision, but yet they wish to bring the book to the screen word for word, page for page. That is the film 'Watchmen'.
'Watchmen' may be the biggest cult fan based comic book of all time. Written in an alternate reality in the 1980s, the Cold War is very much alive and all of Earth is extremely concerned about nuclear war. The heroes in this world are not ones special abilities or powers, and they are not liked by the people. Though, the costumed crusaders prevail to keep the people in line and keep order in the world. Suddenly one of them is brutally murdered and they are now the ones who fear extinction.
I made it my business to make sure I read the graphic novel before I went to see this film and it was a wise choice. This movie no doubt tried to remain as faithful to the comic as possible. The dialogue was melancholy, they characters were well cast and while there were not as many effects as a major comic book blockbuster it was still put together in a very artsy package. Though, this movie is truly not for the mainstream movie goers. Watchmen was definitely created with the true comic book fan in mind. The director Zack Snyder like on his previous work with `300' wanted to make a movie that was just as authentic as the pages it was first concocted upon. Those who read this story would definitely enjoy it even though it is a very slow movie dragged out story. There are a few major things that are changed for cinematic purposes, but after reading this story I believe that the changes made really made the story more believable and less confusing. The changing of the costumes was a positive thing because some of those characters really looked like pimped out hood ornaments in print. The actors chosen were not well known which a great thing is always. They each filled their roles perfectly and it really made me feel like the comic book was actually coming to life before my eyes. I believe that if you read the book definitely pick the movie up. If you are an innovative person who wants to see something different then you might enjoy it as well. But, I think if you are looking for the typical action super-hero flick let this one pass you by, you might not understand it. Alan Moore may have officially removed himself from any film that his work was to become, but I believe he needs to see this one, because it really has done him justice. Watchmen came out at the right time because Zack Snyder got it right.
Apparently I was not on target when I originally wrote my review, because now we have a 5 DVD Watchmen extravaganza. I have to say for one movie on its' own I have never seen such a package. This edition has everything that was made in honor of this film even dating before the movie itself was officially released in theaters! Before the movie came out where two animated films made for DVD release. The animated creation of `Tales of The Black Freighter', which is an essential piece to the Watchmen story. The special feature on that DVD included `Tales From Under the Hood'. In the graphic novel itself you see excerpts of that book and for DVD it is reinvented to be a television documentary complete with effects that make it look aged and its own advertisements. The other DVD release was `Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic'. This was the graphic novel page for page narrated like a book on tape making the original comic book art look as if it was jumping right off the page. Thanks to this new Ultimate collectors edition these two projects are woven in to the film to make it more true to the novel and really give this film the honor and respect it deserves. Other features include the official video journals and incredible documentaries and commentary not to mention a digital copy of the original theatrical release. How can you possibly pass up purchasing this amazing DVD package? This package has it all...I am serious there is nothing missing from this film now! If you loved this movie you are going to love it even more when you officially have the complete story. 』

(Find something else) 『The BBC Office and US Office are like body piercings. Lots of pain, a little novelty, but in the end they aren't art. This video is boring in the extreme.』
(Not good, not even "British" humor.) 『This style of "humor" can only be enjoyed by a socially oppressed people, such as the Brits. The entire center of what someone is supposed to "laugh" at can not be properly understood by Americans, and even some Europeans. Most of the episodes flutter around a theme of everyone feeling uneasy. No real irony, misinterpretations, or social disasters like in the American "The Office".
I've seen all episodes of this and I did not laugh once. The characters are not well-developed. The humor is all "awkward moment number 1 of 400" and counts up. I think this is because it was planned to NOT be an ongoing series: It was scripted to have certain events happen and points made, and then end. This show had a planned cancellation, it was not cancelled for any other reason. In its defense, There were NO PLANS to make it permanent or long-running.
A terrible investment if you are an American "The Office" fan. Rent it and find out for yourself.』
(Hilarious!) 『I've seen this version and the American version and I have to say that I love my country very much but the British version is funnier and very clever. Rickey Gervais makes the show and all of the other characters are very rich and funny in their own right. Bravo!』
(Disappointed!) 『Normally, I love British shows. And I love the American version of "The Office". So, I expected to love this show even more. It starts out with funny bits, but soon becomes painful to watch. The characters, especially Ricky Gervais' David, are fairly unlikeable. By the end there is no one to root for, only a feeling of voyerism... like watching someone in a very uncomfortable and embarrassing personal situation. You feel sorry for them and almost hopeless. I am sorry I bought this set.』 『It feels both inaccurate and inadequate to describeThe Officeas a comedy. On a superficial level, it disdains all the conventions of television sitcoms: there are no punch lines, no jokes, no laugh tracks, and no cute happy endings. More profoundly, it's not what we're used to thinking of as funny. Most of the fervently devoted fan base watched with a discomfortingly thrilling combination of identification and mortification. The paradox is that its best moments are almost physically unwatchable. Set in the offices of a fictional British paper merchant,The Officeis filmed in the style of a reality television show. The writing is subtle and deft, the acting wonderful, and the characters beautifully drawn: the cadaverous team leader Gareth (Mackenzie Crook); the monstrous sales rep, Chris Finch (Ralph Ineson); and the decent but long-suffering everyman Tim (Martin Freeman), whose ambition and imagination have been crushed out of him by the banality of ! the life he dreams uselessly of escaping. The show is stolen, as it was intended to be, by insufferable office manager David Brent, played by codirector-cowriter Ricky Gervais. Brent will become a name as emblematic for a particular kind of British grotesque as Basil Fawlty, but he is a deeper character. Fawlty is an exaggeration of reality, and therefore a safely comic figure. Brent is as appalling as only reality can be.--Andrew Mueller
The second series exceeded even the sky-high standards of the first. Indeed, it ventured beyond caricature and satire, touching on the very edge of darkness. Ricky Gervais is once again excruciatingly superb as David Brent, but in this series, Brent's to-the-camera assertions concerning his management qualities and executive capabilities are seriously challenged when the Slough and Swindon branches are merged and his former Swindon equivalent Neil (Patrick Baladi) takes over as area manager. To compensate, Brent cultivates his pathologically mistaken image of himself as an entertainer-motivator-comedian whose stage happens to be the workplace. Meanwhile, Tim, who can only maintain his sanity by teasing the priggish Gareth, continues to wrestle with his yearning for receptionist Dawn Tinsley (Lucy Davis), a sympathetic character persisting in a relationship with a man about whom she still maintains unspoken reservations. As ever, it's the awkward, reality TV-style pauses and silences, the furtive, meaningful and unmet glances across the emotional gulf of the open-plan office, that say it all here. As for Brent, his own breakdown is prefaced by a moment of hideous hilarity--an impromptu office dance, a mixture of "Flashdanceand MC Hammer" as Brent describes it, but in reality bad beyond description. Then, when his fate is sealed, he at last reveals himself in a memorable finale to perhaps the greatest British sitcom, besidesFawlty Towers, ever made.--David Stubbs
The brilliant and devastating comedy ofThe Officeis brought to a satisfying conclusion inThe Office Special, originally a two-part Christmas special on the BBC, set three years after the end of the faux-documentary's second season. The former office manager David (Ricky Gervais) now ekes out a desperate existence as an oblivious quasi-celebrity, making awkward, humiliating visits back to the office staff he still believes loves him. Gawky Gareth (Mackenzie Crook) has risen to manager and become a petty tyrant, while the sweet but snide Tim (Martin Freeman) continues to pine for former receptionist Dawn (Lucy Davis), who fled to Florida with her fiance. When the documentary crew pays for Dawn to return for the holiday party, an unpredictable reunion looms ahead. The Officefuses scathing humor and genuine empathy, turning excruciating social discomfort into inspired satire. My boys and I love them.』 『In 1996 I left the financial markets and set out for the clear skies and wide-open spaces of Vermont to pursue my vision of the perfect potato chip. Four years later, I have never looked back and have never eaten better! I first started by hand-slicing small batches of fresh New England potatoes into a small French-fry cooker I borrowed from a friend with a restaurant. I experimented for months testing different oils, potatoes and seasoned toppings. My plan was simple; not to give up until I had discovered the point at which perfect flavor merged with a healthy, simple recipe. Eventually, I found that perfect recipe: Select North American potatoes cooked in pure high-monounsaturated canola oil and topped with only all natural spices, herbs and sea salt. Nothing artificial is used, ever - only simple, premium, healthful and naturally delicious ingredients go into making our chips. Life became a Madhouse from that point on! As word got out about our recipes, our popularity among chip connoisseurs grew at a frantic pace. While we have been copied and shoved-around by the "Big Guys" in the chip world, they just can't seem to get it right, and for now, our unique micro-chips are, alone, at the top. I certainly hope that you enjoy Madhouse Munchies as much as we do. Enjoy! Jim Ehlen, Founder』

Cowon Systems
Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (O2 review) 『I use the Cowon O2 as a replacemrnt for a CD changer in our home audio system. I rip CDs in FLAC format and use compression level 4. The connection I use is an analog audio cable. The sound is almost identical to the sound I get when playing a CD on my blu-ray player. Fantatic sound and even with FLAC I can get about 100 CDs on the 32 GB memory card.
My set up begs the question: Why don't audio receiver companies make an audio amplifier with memory built in to play compressed digital music? Maybe next year.』
(Not what I thought) 『Although it looks good in design and the touch screen is great. It lacks using appeal. Browsing thru your files is no fun; there are no graphics, no pretty add-ins or anything. Just a steal looking folder in which you expand to view your media files. There is no FM tuner, I like talk radio in the morning on my bus ride to work. Playing your music files are no fun as well, this device does not display album art or anything while playing, best to just turn the screen off and not look at the device. Also, does not play MKV files, yes it's supposed to, but it doesn't. Firmware update did not fix any of this issues either. I traded in my unit and got the A3. A3 bigger unit, smaller screen, but offer so much more than the O2, very appealing, even when just browsing thru media files. Still issues with MKV files, firmware update did help, but still needs improvement. Maybe one or two more updates and the MKV files should play fine.』
(Good but not excellent PMP from Cowon) 『I've always been a fan of Cowon. I think they typically make great mp3 and video players, and their D2 is my favorite mp3 player of all time. When the O2 was announced, I knew I would be buying one. Overall I'm satisfied with the O2, but there are a few rather glaring problems with the player that cannot be ignored.
Cowon has always been better at making hardware than writing firmware to support it, and this trend continues with the O2. Things that should be there aren't, and things that should work better don't. There is a lot to love about the O2 anyway, but it just feels like Cowon keeps just missing. I'm still waiting for that perfect PMP that I know they're more than capable of producing. I'm hoping that as the firmware matures for the O2 that they fix some of the problems and make this a good PMP into a great one.
Before addressing what makes this player good but frustratingly imperfect, here are a few technical details from my experience using the O2:
File upload speed: internal memory, using provided USB cable plugged directly into the computer (no hub) is about 6.5 - 7.4mb/second. I tried large batches of files (3-4gb) and small batches (200mb - 500mb) and they all uploaded at approximately the same speed. Single large files like movies upload slight faster, in the 7.5-8mb/second.
Firmware updates have been made much easier than in previous Cowon players. No more Copy file, reboot device, copy in 2nd file, reboot device, etc... The firmware can be updated with a single collection of files uploaded to the main directory. Reboot the O2, the system loads the new firmware and you're done. Updating from 1.9A (preloaded when received from Amazon) to 1.4b took about 20 seconds tops. This is a great improvement from the D2.
A strange difference between the O2 and the D2 is that when connecting to the computer via USB, you can only access the internal or external memory at one time. When you plug in, the O2 will give the option of selecting internal or external. This is different from the D2. The major disadvantage to the only being able to access internal or external in isolation is that you cannot transfer files from one directory to the other.
Now lets get on with the good:
1. 32gb of flash memory (about 29gb accessible).
2. Support of many audio and video codecs, including FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) which is what I use for all my music files.
3. Slick, sexy design. Understated cool. The O2 feels solid in your hand and is just quality all the way around. Has a very thin bezel. Almost the entire device is touch screen.
4. Expandable via SD or SDHC card. I've got a 16gb SDHC card combined with the onboard memory for an outstanding 48gb of flash (about 44 accessible). The SDHC card slot is PERFECT for a PMP because you can add movies to an SDHC card and swamp them in and out as needed. This is especially nice if you're taking a trip and want to have a good number of movies available.
5. Great resolution and very pretty screen. Movies look nice on the O2.
6. Very fast boot up. My O2 starts in about 8-9 seconds, which is 3 times as fast as my D2. That is an excellent improvement.
7. Simple, intuitive GUI (Graphic User Interface). The O2 uses icons sort of like what you would find on a smart phone to navigate through menus, select media files and play them. There O2 also allows multitasking; you can simultaneously listen to music while using the notepad for example.
8. 10 band EQ. This is simply fantastic, and easily the best EQ I've ever had in a PMP. You can adjust to your hearts content and make your music sound the way it should. I love this feature!
There are some real problems with the O2 however, a few of which are beyond silly in a PMP of this caliber.
1. No support for meta tags. Seriously Cowon, what were your designers smoking when you decided to leave out support for tags? Especially since Cowon has offered support for them in every other PMP they've put on the market! The D2 supports tags (albeit after several rounds of firmware to get it to do it correctly) so why the heck doesn't the O2? Because my media files are all tagged perfectly (download mp3tag if you need a great tag editor) and also organized very logically in files, this doesn't affect me that much, but it could be devastating for someone who keeps their files all in one big mix and relies on meta tag information to keep them sorted.
2. No support for DRM files. While I don't personally own any, this is a bit of a travesty considering how many people have extensive libraries of DRM files.
3. No FM receiver. The D2 has it, and the O2 should as well.
4. Finicky GUI in certain situations. I have larger fingers and find touch screens to be a pain. The O2 is no exception. The size of the some of the menus, and especially those in the audio and video playing area, are small and hard to access.
5. Firmware bugs. Even the most recently released firmware has bugs. Check out the official O2 forum (google search iaudiophile) for details. Since Cowon changes firmware for their players like most people change socks, it would be pointless to point out the current bugs. As time goes by, they will evolve. Fortunately, Cowon also has a history of steadily improving their firmware, so if you have a bug now, chances are it will be fixed in the future.
6. Flap that covers the SDHC card slot and USB access is connected by two flexible plastic bands. I hate when phone makers do this (Razr2) and its even worse on a media player. They always wear out, especially since they have to be used ALL THE TIME when charging the device, and once they break off they are impossible to repair. They should use steel bands (or anything other than plastic!) to make sure these covers don't wear out!
Conclusions:
The number of files supported, over all excellent GUI, sexy design, and high quality audiphile touches like the 10 band EQ make the O2 a great PMP option. Sadly, it isn't perfect, and while firmware updates may improve it, they can't add an FM receiver nor replace the plastic bands that hold on the SDHC card slot cover. If they manage to fix my other complaints and provide support for meta tags, tweak the GUI, and add support for DRM files, the O2 would be unchallengeable as the best PMP on the market. Here's hoping that happens.
Additional thoughts:
I've added a few photos to the Amazon page. One is a size comparison to several other PMPs (Ipod 4th generation, Cowon D2, Iriver Clix), on of the included accessories, and the last a picture of the SDHC and USB port and its cover.』
(The Cowon O2: A Hidden Jewel) 『Like most of the Portable Media Players I get, the Cowon O2, is virtually unknown where I live, but I couldn't be happier with it.
The wide variety of media codec support, means I don't have to convert my music and video just to listen to it.
The external subtitle support, means any .srt subtitle file I have on hand, can be natively played with the video I'm watching.
The Recent Files menu, means that the last FIFTY songs and films I've seen are remembered, even after I turn off the power. And the best part of Recent Files? Each song and film, has it's play position remembered.
The SDHC card slot, means the 32 GB of Flash memory I started with, can be expanded with as many SD cards as I can carry.
Even the touch screen, (which I hated on the iPod touch) is easy to use, thanks to the included stylus. And what makes the touch screen even MORE bearable, is the dedicated digital volume switch on the outside. (something you don't miss till you lose)
In terms of weakness, a removable battery would've been nice. But considering the 18 hour music, 8 hour movie battery life, and thin dimensions of player, I can't complain too much.
The other complaint being the lack of H.264 High Profile video playback, but the plethora of video codecs it DOES play back, made up for it.
Thanks for reading.』
(Excellent player) 『The good =========== - The large display is lovely - watching movies is sheer pleasure. - Awesome sound for music files + plenty of options (via EQ, BBE, 3DS, MPE etc.) for enhancing/fine-tuning the sound. Very pleased with this. - I've only used the .avi files (typical of whats available on internet :) - all played smoothly regardless of size. No problem with .srt subtitle files either - works fine. - The touch screen works perfectly with the provided stubby stylus which dangles from the player (instead of having its own housing). So no chance of losing it and always available (instead of the usual stick-thin stylus typically provided with PMPs which you need to push-in/take-out from the housing everytime you want to use it). Simple&effective. - I can use it as a simple external storage for my misc files - no issues. My 16GB Transcend SD card works fine with this so I've effectively 48GB of storage. - It has crashed only once since I've purchased. I'm ok with that level of stability.
The bad: =========== - No dedicated pause/continue button - so if you need to pickup an incoming call quickly, its not so quick :) - Hardly any options to customize the fonts/screen etc. Since this is a new model, I don't think there are many downloadable themes, if any. - The onscreen fonts are quite big and not anti-aliased plus no way to change them. This may not be much but once you've seen lovely fonts on ipod nano's tiny display, you pity that this gorgeous display is being wasted. - No way to change/add/remove icons from the main menu. You are stuck with what you are provided. - The display is excellent but a bit reflective so usability goes down the hill outdoors or when the light source is facing the display. - Using the touch screen with fingers is a hit&miss affair unless you have really thin fingers. Better stick(!) to the stylus provided. - No ID3 tag based searching for MP3. I would take this for granted in a modern PMP - too bad for O2. I don't use playlists so don't care about the missing capability to handle .m3u etc. - The audio settings like BBE, 3D Surround etc. do not apply to the audio when you play Movies! What could possibly stop them from providing the same audio customizations for Movies?
I've not explored this with a variety of audio/video file formats so cannot comment on compatibility but the list of supported formats is pretty long so shouldn't be an issue.
The Ugly =========== Nothing :)』 『Cowon continues to master the personal media player with the O2. The player's sleek minimalism marries cutting-edge technology with simple, sophisticated details. The O2 is much more than an eye-catching MP3 player--it boasts support for more audio and video codecs than you can count on both hands, a brilliant 4.3-inch touchscreen, image and document viewing, voice recording, and plenty more. The O2 is a compact and versatile media player that'll keep you entertained no matter where, no matter when.

A quick glance at the O2 will make you want to pick it up--it's nearly all screen, with its 4.3-inch, 16.7-million color touchscreen TFT LCD. This makes for quality viewing and easy navigation. Surrounding the screen are various input/output options, the volume control, power switch, and speaker on the back.
You'll also notice a slot for SD cards, which lets you expand your 32 GB capacity on the fly. Of course what really counts is what you can pack into all that storage...
Enjoy Video in Nearly Any Popular Format or Codec Anyone with an extensive collection of digitized audio and video knows that things are far from cut and dried. Depending on sources and preference, you might have a slew of different formats on your hard drive. With a lot of media players, you might spend hours just converting everything to the proper format for playback on your device--more waiting, less watching. Not so with the O2, which boasts native support for AVI, WMV, ASF, MP4, MATROSKA(MKV), OGM, MPG/MPEG, DAT, and MTV video formats.
And then, of course, don't forget the compression codecs. Everyone's got their favorite way to squish video down to a size that makes sense for portable players. The O2 can handle DivX 3.11/4/5/6, XviD, MPEG-4 SP/ASP, WMV 9/8/7, H.264, M-JPEG, and MPEG 1 video codecs, along with the following audio codecs for the accompanying soundtrack: MPEG1 Layer 1/2/3, WMA, AC3, OGG Vorbis, FLAC, BSAC, True Audio, WavPack, G.726, and PCM. Quite a list, but it's one that any media geek would be happy to hold in his or her hands.
Regardless of file format and codec, you'll enjoy up to 8 hours of continuous video on a single charge. Whether you're on a transatlantic flight, a subway commute, or just hanging out at some coffee shop, you have plenty of video time at your disposal.
Support for Your Digital Music Library Just as with video, everyone has a unique approach to digitizing their music libraries. Some are happy with low-bitrate MP3s, and others insist on lossless compression formats like FLAC for a higher-quality audio experience. No matter your preference, chances are you'll be covered here as well--the O2 gives you up to 8 hours of continuous audio on one charge, and will play back MP3/2/1, WMA, ASF, AC3, FLAC, OGG, M4A, MATROSKA(MKA), TTA, APE, MPC, WV, and WAV audio files, with full support for the following audio codecs: MPEG1 Layer 1/2/3, WMA, AC3, OGG Vorbis, FLAC, BSAC, True Audio, WavPack, G.726, PCM.
Whatever you use to tag your files with artist info will show up on screen as well, with support for various meta tags, from all versions of ID3 to Vorbis comment or APE tag. LDB lyrics files also are supported for the lyrics-obsessed.
Getting the sound you like is no problem either. In addition to a 10-band graphic equalizer, the O2 features four "JetEffect" audio technologies to help you improve your sound:
BBE is a sound effect that refines the sound quality.
Mach3Bass provides deeper, tighter, and more musically accurate bass frequency.
MP Enhance restores and enhances the harmonics lost through compression.
3D Surround provides the three-dimensional surround sound effect.
View Your Photos, Documents, and More The O2 also happens to be a powerful photo-viewing device, and as with audio and video, it doesn't limit you to just a few formats. Share your favorite JPG, GIF, PNG, TIF, BMP, and even RAW images on the go, and personalize your device by setting your wallpaper to your favorite JPG, PNG, BMP, or TIF image.
The O2's text viewer lets you view pretty much any text file, and you can add support for all kinds of standard docs, whether it's PDF files or various Microsoft Office formats (DOC, PPT, XLS). And since the product supports true-type fonts, you can adjust the font size, character spacing, color, and properties to your preference.

(PERFECT for PC...but not for a Mac) 『I purchased this external because as a photographer...I need LOTS of hard drive space. I use both a PC and a Mac, and every time I plugged this into my iMac it would FIRST)Not be able to read it, THEN)When I unplugged it, it would completely crash my iMac! On the other hand, it works seamlessly with my PC, no drivers to install, just plug in, move files, and VOILA! It's also big enough that when I upgraded to Windows 7, and wiped my hard drive for a fresh/clean install, I was able to back up my ENTIRE 320GB hard drive in just a couple hours!
I've only owned this for a couple months, but so far, it's been a reliable lifesaver!!!』
(plug and play) 『I needed this as an external backup device for a linux server. I just plugged it in and away it went!』
(Good for the price) 『I purchased this hard disk from amazon. For 1TB storage and price this is a good hardisk. But it does make crackling noise while starting sometimes and while backing up data, that is annoying. Else rest of the period it is quietly running.Vents for the harddisk is at the lower bottom of the harddisk. Poorly designed for heat dissipation. But you can invert the harddisk to get proper airflow or put some harddisk rubber pads below which will elevate the harddisk.
For the price it is really a good product seeing the reviews about other harddisk I would definitely recommend this harddisk.』
(Seagate 1.5 TB purchased thru amazon) 『Have been using this external drive for a few weeks now. Seems to be fine Yes do hear a little clicking noise every so often, but it just tells me it's awake and working.

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Worked as avertised...a satisfied installer.) 『Unit required about an hour to install. Required antenna adaptors with the GM/Saab radio, which added about $23 to the installed price, but sounds great!』
(Excellent way to connect PM3 or iPod players to FM) 『This unit was easy to hook up, once I found the web page that showed me how to pull off the trim and get to the back of the factory FM radio. It creates a small FM station in your car, and at installation time you choose which frequency -- 88.7 or 89.1. You plug your car antenna into the unit, and the unit is plugged into your FM radio. You install a small switch that will turn it on or off. When on, its FM signal will override anything you might otherwise receive on that frequency, so on a long trip, you can drive to a place that has a strong FM station on 89.1, for example, but it won't interfere with your iPod when this unit is switched on.
There's no distortion when your sound source volume is set correctly. It may not be quite as good as a direct connection to the FM's preamp, but most factory radios don't have those connectors on the back, and when you are driving, the road noise will not allow you to appreciate any minute difference. To my ears, the FMM100A's sound through the FM is clean, with no background noise.
Amazon offers a good price on these units. It's a way to get a good, reliable connection of the audio from your iPod or MP3 player to your car's FM radio.』
(Best FM modulator I've used, but FM mod still not great.) 『I picked this up for a quick add for the iPod to my truck for our 5500 mile road trip. As another commeter said if you can do anything besides FM mod do that instead. That said this is by far the best FM mod I've used. It doesn't have the static of other units I've used in the past but being FM modulation the sound is still "muddy" (but when you're in a truck blasting down the interstate at 80 mph the road noise covers up a lot of that). I like that when you switch the unit on it seems to totally cut the external signal with a bandpass filter. That way it doesn't matter so much which frequency you choose (of the two available on the unit). Also it includes a groud loop isolator which you usually have to pick up separate to eliminate engine whine. All in all a good little unit.』
(Works well no alternator noise) 『I installed this in my 2007 Porsche Cayman S CDR-24, I had a Metra one before and it picked up alternator noise and was pretty noisy even with the engine off. This unit and its filters work really well. The alternator hum is eliminated. There is a quiet subtle noise when the car is off but it's not as noisy as the Metra unit. The sound from my MP3 player is a tiny bit lower. I do hear some distortion in the sound when music is an electric guitar playing very high notes. The Metra unit would distort the sound when a musician was singing high notes. Much better sound quality than Metra unit. I'm not sure if there's anything better than this. This is just a holdover until I get a carputer in there.』
(Fastest Shipping Ive ever seen.) 『Product works Great!!! I seriously came home seeing a box and I was like, what the hell is this? Then after opening i couldnt believe this part was already at my door!! It was seriously there like 12 hours after i ordered it. Wicked Fast...』 『Audiovox FMM100 FM Modulator and Adapter allows sound from the video source to be played through the vehicle's speakers. It connects to car radio antenna.』

It is a toy but it is good enough quality to be a collectible. Lots of bells and whistles, and includes a popout compartment for the little hand held scanner. "Callback" mode is fun and display is hilariously old fashioned (not to mention the moving moire pattern on the front). Totally happy with the purchase. Recommend buying the communicator and phasor, they are also very well made and thought out. Even my 12 year old son thinks they are cool. For gadgets likt this under $40 you can't beat them. Perfect for Original Series Trekkies. 』
(Enter the world of Scientific Imagination!) 『Back in the 1990s, certain attempts were made at making toys from Star Trek TOS. They were ok. I got them, but they always seemed to lack a bit in the credible department. Then the new movie came out this year, and I came across the communicator and phaser from Diamond Select Toys. Not only were they replicas, it was like I had just went through the backstage of filming and got the actual props of the TV Show! My kids are into Star Trek, and since I turned out ok... I have passed on these wonderful toys to them. There is nothing like the power of imagination! It inspires the soul and adds a level of excitement to life that video games just can't match! The tricorder was our latest toy, and oh boy oh boy is this one simply amazing!』
(Alright toy, but only if you're a fan.) 『I bought this Tricoder because I am a huge fan of the original series, but was disappointed when I took it out of the packaging. For $40 I expected a little more, not some crappy little toy not much bigger than a communicator. There are a lot of painting errors as others have pointed out. I tinkered with it for five minutes, but easily got bored. Of course, I probably would have found much amusement with it 15 years ago when I was 5, but as an adult, there is just so little you can do with this toy. If I were roleplaying Star Trek with friends, I think this would come very handy, but I don't think many of my friends would think highly of me if I came up to them and said, "Hey, let's pretend we're on the U.S.S Enterprise, I'll be Spock!" Oh, and by the way, it doesn't specify anywhere on this page but this is a Science Tricorder, but they do make the Medical one's as well.
All in all, it's not a bad toy, not at all. I would definitely recommend this toy to any trekkie, because it is a wonderful piece to have in your collection, and for $40 it sure beats the $1000 replica (which I will obtain, one of these days!)』
(having fun) 『I'm happy to have it. I'm 61. and the thing is that I'm just geting othr stuff so that I can have for my startreek. they are for just to look at. not to ply with』
(Switch it to PLAY!) 『I ordered this and at first I thought it was broken because all it would do was play one of the stock phrases "Most strange. Readings indicate a life form--possibly human." when any of the three buttons was pressed and flipping the top panel open/closed had no effect.
However, after reading another post on amazon, I looked at the battery compartment, and there is a switch with three settings--"Try me", "Off", and "Play". It was set to "Try me" (the in store demo setting). When I switched it to "Play" it behaved as expected and as described in the instruction sheet. The instructions don't mention these three settings at all! All they have is a picture of the battery compartment with the labels "Try me" and "Play"--but they fail to describe the switch and what any of the settings do! Bad instructions!
Anyway, once I switched it to the right mode, it is pretty fun. Definately a good toy or prop for those who are classic star trek fans. I plan to use it this halloween a lot with my Spock costume. I think it's a bit overpriced, but am more than satisfied with the features, even if the craftsmanship is only fair.
SWITCH IT TO PLAY! 』 『After the runaway success of Star Trek's classic-era Phaser and Communicator, boldly go where no man has gone before with this authentic Tricorder roleplay replica! Based on the classic 23rd century design, the electronic Tricorder features silver highlights over a black finish, as well as light and sound effects taken from the classic Star Trek series. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Compelling Memoir) 『For anyone who is an avid Wellesian, this is a completely compelling memoir written with passion, frustration, ultimate consummation and undying love by Orson Welles' first of three daughters - Christopher. The memories move...and are moving. The remarkable Mrs. Feder has chronicled herein a most varied and interesting life, moving from shadow to spotlight in being the daughter (again, the first) of the man I (along with many, many others) consider America's greatest film director...as well as its most shamefully neglected (within his lifetime). It is not the authoress' intention in this memoir to chronicle the cinematic career of her fabulous father - but his battles for the integrity of his films (especially the made-in-America "The Magnificent Ambersons" and "Touch of Evil") are every bit as desperate and needful and agonized as are his daughter's dilemmas by way of the demands of decision imposed upon her whilst still a child as to who to choose to love: congenially controlling father...or bitter, chain-smoking, controlling mother. While on-the-surface it would seem a complete blessing to be born to such a famous personage, in reading these memoirs we learn that for everything one gains, one also loses...and that the seemingly best of blessings may very well carry curses... by way of other people's baggage.
The book is beautifully designed with the perfect half-lit, half-shadowed Rembrandtesque photo of Orson Welles for the topic at hand - and that is showing the shadow and light of his presence and non-presence in his daughter's life. (How ironic that he played "The Shadow" on radio!) There are also many wonderful photos and illustrations illumining the text in all the exact, purposeful places. This is a sensitive, touching, tragic and triumphant memoir. The beginning description of Orson Welles' sad, seedy funeral nearly brought tears to my eyes...and made me think of the veritably unheralded tugging away of Falstaff's enormous casket at the end of Welles' masterpiece "Chimes at Midnight," a portent of the director's own empty-seeming end.
But having been so gripped by the people who live within the pages of this book, I wanted to know...what happened to them all. Though not the book's central purpose - which is that of a father and daughter relationship - I really wanted to know what happened to the first Mrs. Orson Welles, Chris' mother who is such a controlling presence throughout much of the book...as well as her third husband, the demeaning, condescending Mr. Pringle. What happened to "Skipper" Hill? Rita Hayworth (the second Mrs. Welles) is in Chris' life for quite-a-bit, but then completely vanishes. Surely, Chris must have known and felt something about the ultimate sad fate of the famous actress: these feelings would have been of deep value to the memoir. I also wonder what happened to the third Mrs. Welles and Orson Welles' third and last daughter. And the mystery of Orson Welles' brother Richard - surely, if there is any "Rosebud" to Welles' life it would be the virtually untold story of his own brother. (The brother's story is teasingly hinted at in Simon Callow's first volume biography of Welles.) I truly would have loved to learn much more of what Mrs. Feder thought of all her father's films, including the many he starred in. One other matter: there is a photo of a superb statue of Welles sculpted by the true love and ultimate muse of his life, Oja Kodar, captioned as being in Croatia with 2007 as its date. Being a sculptor myself, I was - am - extremely curious if this is a life-size monument of the mythic movie-maker or not. Though his movies are his ultimate monument, a life-size statue would be a grand gesture of thanks, also.
Despite the book leaving me with many, many questions it is still and all a very worthwhile read, filled with pain, pathos, passion and....pride. The pride of a daughter...and the pride of a father. I have no doubt that all the shadows have turned to loving sunshine and somewhere, someplace the great spirit of Orson Welles is smiling down upon his "darling" daughter's remembrance as related in the pages of her memoir. And if cigars are allowed in heaven, he surely has one in hand and the tears in his eyes are not coming from the cigar-smoke, no, but from someplace deeper, richer and...forever fatherly.』 『Out of all the many stars and celebrities Hollywood has produced, only a handful have achieved the fameâand, some would say, infamyâof Orson Welles, the creator and star of what is arguably the greatest American film, Citizen Kane. Many books have been written about him, detailing his achievements as an artist as well his foibles as a human being. None of them, however, has gotten so closeto the real man as does Chris Welles Feder's beautifully realized portrait of her father.
In My Father's Shadowis a classic story of a life lived in the public eye, told with affection and the wide-eyed wonder of a daughter who never stopped believing that someday she would truly know and understand her elusive and larger-than-life father. The result is a moving and insightful look at life in the shadow of a legendary figure and an immensely entertaining story of growing up in the unreal reality of Hollywood, enhanced by Welles Feder's collection of many never-before-seen family photographs.

(Great source of information) 『This is one of the bests programs I had. I really don't know why Microsoft stopped in 96. Buy it if you want to learn a lot about movies...specially the classics. Well, after 1996 we don't have many good movies after all :)』
(Please Update Cinemania '96) 『I completely agree with the review by Billy Budd. I, too, use Cinemania extensivily. I love just about all the "good" movies that were ever made, and use the Cinemania program as my #1 go- to information center to check on movies I might like to purchase. With the DVD's and the Hi-Def T.V. now, man this stuff is a blast! But, alas&alack, it's also kinda expensive. Therefore, I can't be wastin' my hard-earned money on dud movies, and that's where top-notch information comes in. Cinemania delivers that in spades, but unfortunately, now there's 10 years worth of history that's missing. I've written to Microsoft asking about an update, but never heard from them. I really wish they would produce a new version. Heck, with the DVD format, tons of additional info and clips could be added. Hey, Microsoft, don't even think about this one, just do it! (Why Microsoft stopped CINEMANIA in 1996?) 『I bought years ago this amazing Encyclopedia of Cinema, and it performs perfectly in Windows XP, thank God. Its use is as easy as Encarta's, and you can find everything about movie world (films reviews, biographies...). It is a multimedia product, with photos, music, dialogues, videos... Although it focuses in the USA, it includes international production too. I don't understand why Microsoft stopped publishing it in 1996. I'm really glad I made the switch. There was no big learning curve and the manual and help system was very comprehensive. Good job!

(EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO WRITE A SCREENPLAY) 『I have owned Movie Outline from nearly its inception - 1.0, 2.0 and now 3.0. I have upgraded every time the company released a newer version. With the 3.0 version, which I purchased a year ago, I found there was no other writing software I needed so I sold all of mine -- Dramatica, Final Draft, Story View -- the Truby stuff, etc.
