("Do The Humpty Hump" (Rating: 10 out of 10- -5.0 stars)) 『Many people might not remember Digital Underground, and if they do, they probably remember the debut single "The Humpty Dance". Digital Underground consited of: Shock G., Humpty Hump, Fuze, Money B., Kenny K. (and later on 2Pac, Saafir, and Pee Wee). The whole album has a mix of goofy tales mixed with a laid back vibe, at the same time can make you dance at some points.
Aside from the lead single, there are many funky tracks all over this album. "The Way We Swing" is a laid back head nodder. "Gutfest '89" has a funny concept behind it. "Danger Zone" is inspired by The Parlament with a recognizable sample used in that song. I believe the best track on the album is "Doowhutchyalike", that song is hilarious. "Sex Packets" is another long and mellow track with a weird sample. The last actual track is "Packet Man" where Shock G. and Humpty Hump go back and forth selling sex packets. Then the last track on the album closes off with a short instrumental of the title track.
"Sex Packets" is a wonderful album. This is one I would recommend to fans of early 90's rap. Even if you never heard of this group, I still would recommend that you check this album out, because the album is just so great. If you enjoyed this album, I also recommend you check out their next two full length albums Sons of the P&The Body-Hat Syndrome as well. Peace.
P.S.: Like a lot of reviewers said, some of the tracks were omitted from the CD version of this album that were origonally on cassette tape. I know "Hip Hop Doll" and a longer version of "Gutfest '89" were some of the songs, and you might be able to find those track floating around on the internet to download.

(Social Distortion is back !) 『Social Distortion brings to the table a feel of rock, rebellion and good times, but have a way of bringing it about in a deep and meaningful way in this record. Clearly the ability and depth of the band is revealed in "Sex, Love and Rock `n' Roll"; this is not just a record to "make a buck" and this is evidenced through their remaining faithful to their roots (the hard edged quality to the lyrics and songs), yet their ability to evolve in the songs.
"Reach for the Sky" seems to be the catchiest of the tunes. It has "radio play" written all over it, but the song is addictive, kind of one of those songs that just comes at you with its guitar riffs at the beginning and its memorable lyrics: "Reach for the sky `cause tomorrow may never come." The song is all about carpe diem: living for today and taking advantage of things while you still have a chance. Who cares if it is a little mainstream? This is a signature Social D song with a moral: the kind of song you want to turn up.
Other notable songs on the disc are "Nickel and Dimes", another upbeat song with the signature sound of Social Distortion and "I Wasn't Born to Follow", the lyrics seem to embody the Social D persona: "When I grow up, gonna be a star. Gonna sing my songs and play my guitar, I'm ready." One of the my favorites is the last track, "Angel's Wings", which is a bit in between hard and soft rock, but seems to evoke feelings of not being stuck in one mode in life, but living life trusting in fate: "Angel's wing won't you carry me home." Another great song is "Winners and Losers", a song that seems to be about the good and bad in life and people, and how everything has its place but keeps pushing on.
Over all, this is just a great rock CD, one that you won't get sick of like so much other stuff out there. This is one of those CDs that gets better with age and begins to grow on you. It becomes somewhat of a habit after awhile. So, when you take a road trip, or are just hanging out with friends, be sure to pop in this one and crank it up!』
(The Triumphant Return Of Social Distortion...) 『"Sex Love&Rock n Roll" is the first studio album from Social Distortion in 8 years. Mike Ness had alot of material to work with when putting together this album. During the bands hiatus, Social Distortion lost guitar player Dennis Danell to a brain anuerism in 2000. Danell had been with the band from the beginning and, along with Ness, was the foundation that the band was built on.
Clearly, this album is a tribute to Dennis. Mike Ness has often said that he felt as though a piece of his youth died with Dennis. The resounding themes of this album is being a man, coping with loss, and dealing with love. These are subjects that are very easy to relate to.
For the most part, this album is classic social distortion. Anyone who saw them during their scattered shows during hiatus is probably very familiar with most of the songs on this album anyway as many of them had already become mainstays of their live set over the 5 years preceding this albums release. There are a few tracks, however, that are there basically just to fill up the album. Still, most of the songs are incredible. The highlights are...

("A Great Film With A Great Cast") 『"The Birdcage" is one of those films that entertains and educates; it's extremely funny, but at the same time it shows its audience that a family can consist of two gay parents who love their child, and will go through anything to make him/her happy. Robin Williams and Nathan Lane star as two gay men who are the parents of a son who is about to get married. The family the son is about to marry into is prominently political, headed by Gene Hackman, so it is important for the gay family to play it "straight". The laughs are plentiful and outrageous, and the music is excellent. Probably one of the best comedies ever made and one of the best films Robin Williams ever starred in, "The Birdcage" came out in 1996 and is now considered by many a classic. The film was directed by Mike Nichols, who directed "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf?". The DVD is pretty much a barebones edition, but the clarity of the film is excellent and the sound strong and impeccable. There is a nice booklet that comes with the set detailing a bit of info on the making of the film. "The Birdcage" grossed over $185,000,000 at the boxoffice. It is a remake of the french classic "La Cage aux Folles".』

Many books on this topic are a bit lame. They are either for women who are truly clueless, or they are really focused on one area of self-development, i.e. confidence.
This is a great book if you are already plenty confident, have gotten to a great place in your life for understanding who you are and then already know well the type of man who is right for you (the last part being the absolute hardest).
This book, then steps in with seemingly general wisdom on making sure you understand all the nuances of being treated right. It answers the problems of "ok, so I'm being nice" what is "too nice" and how will I know when what I'm doing is setting myself up for a dangerous precedent. This book is perfect. It goes through the entire scenario to explain to you why you might want to think twice about being "available". Why it will end up in that dangerous spiral of hurt feelings and nagging. For many women, this is the advice they need, i.e. how to train and set behaviors correctly at the outset so that you never have certain types of problems.
I couldn't give it full stars because there are a couple areas that are not addressed. First, this book, as I mentioned, is really only right if you are already confident and really understand what type of man you should be dating. I know tons of girls that go out with guys who like to treat women like a doormat. No amount of the rules in this book is really going to stop you from being treated poorly by such a guy. Hence, if you read this book and then go out with a guy like that, you'll come away feeling that you have failed. This book should probably address that issue a bit.
Second, I do actually think adding a chapter on building confidence is important. As I think of my girlfriends who "should be confident", in this area they really aren't. That said, many of the actions in this book could only be carried out by a woman who is confident; so perhaps in going through the paces a woman can become her actions?』
