customer 's review (.)
(Excellent game... very challenging!)
(I had fun with this game!)
(Lots of fun - but the math questions are a bit simple...)
(Worst...board game...ever) I was very satisfied with the fast delivery, excellent condition, and positive enjoyment from the gift recipient of this product. This game is just as good as an IQ Test, but with gender-biased questions. Our family plays it all the time and it's always a close game. Heaps of fun! My fiance and I purchased this game last night, we have only played once so far and we really enjoyed it! I won, so like the other reviewer said, it may be easier for women, but I just think think that the women may be more educated? It was a close game with my fiance and I and I highly recommend it! I own both this Battle of the Sexes board game and the original, and I found this one to be just as entertaining as the first. The questions are very similar to those that would be on an actual IQ test. The one thing that disappointed me were the math questions. They seemed extremely simple... one example is "Mary lied to Fred about how much her shoes cost. She told him they were $400, but they were 2.5 times more than that. How much were the shoes?". It seemed too simple - and it was! All of the math questions aside, this is a great brain-teaser game to play as a group. This is by far the worst board game I've ever played, in every way. Don't be fooled by the "IQ" in the title: unless yours is in the bottom 10%, you'll find the questions almost entirely lacking in challenge or interest. This is about the average level: "Fill in the blanks of this holiday classic: 'D-CK TH- H-LLS'".That isn't to say that there are no challenges to be found in this game: for instance, some of the questions appear to have been translated from English to Chinese and back again. Here's a lovely design feature: there are two sets of question cards, for male and female, which are supposed to be kept separate, but their backs are the SAME COLOR, so if you accidentally mix up the rather large decks, you have to pick through them one-by-one to figure out which are male and female. 1,000 words really don't suffice to convey the awfulness of this game. If you got it for Christmas, don't open it! If you're thinking about getting it for your friends or family, don't! (Unless, of course, you want to send a subtle insult about the recipient's own "IQ".) Make fun of sexual stereotypes! This game's aim is to findout who's smarter: the dames or the dudes? You'll bend your gender- and your mind - taking on tough challenges to defend your sex. The trick is, this is not a trivia game. You'll need to unwrap word jumbles, dissect diagrams and work through word problems to reveal your true intellect. Ready? Ladies first. Gals, what poker term is synonymous with these words: even, water torrent. Now it's the guys' turn. Fellas, Ralph Lauren is to Romance as Lancome is to: No. 19, Mademoiselle, One or Tresor? The answers? Flush and Tresor, of course! Game comes with game board, 73 female question cards, 73 male question cards, 74 genius cards, 55 female wild cards, 55 male wild cards, 8 playing pieces and instructions. For 2 to 8 players. Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Very difficult) I am a math major (from way back) and have always been good with numbers. The twisted variation on Sodoko is a great idea but these puzzles are VERY difficult almost from the beginning. The author explains a technique for doing the more difficult ones that I have read and reread numerous times and still cannot figure out what he means or how to apply it. You better be a master at Sodoko and other puzzles if you expect to get beyond the first 20-30 puzzles in this book. Jigsaw (or irregularly shaped) Sudoku puzzles share the same rules with classic Sudoku. The only difference is that the nine nonets are, well, irregularly shaped. This makes the puzzles slightly harder than the original Sudoku and surely more entertaining, because every puzzle has a unique nonet design and therefore, they can never become boring. In this book there are 150 of these puzzles in 5 levels of difficulty. For the hardest of puzzles you must use "The Law of Leftovers" solving method, which is explained in the introduction. Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Great Sudoku Book For Beginners) I love this book. I searched high and low for a book that i could easily understand the rules and how to play. I couldn't understand the adult versions no matter how hard i tried, then i bought Kindergarten Sudoku and this one came with it as a package deal. Finally somebody got it right. Step by step puzzle examples they do some puzzles for you step by step in seperate boxes to show you how to get the answers, not just writing them in. It makes sense. The grids are large and the numbers clear. Some of the art work is distracting, it's very large and all over the place, but it's a cute book. I recommend this book for adults and children of all ages. By the end of the day i almost finished the entire book. This is a great way to really understand the rules and how to play Sudoku. I give this book 5 stars!
This whimsically illustrated edition features 48 brand-new puzzles for players from the ages of 8 to 13, but anyone can enjoy them. Simply fill in the squares with the digits 1 through 9 in such a way that each digit appears in each column, row, and large square only once. Solutions included.

Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review(ENOUGH ALREADY!) (What fun!) (SUDUKO WAS NEVER SO DANGEROUS) (The numbers have it) (Fun series) I'M A PUZZLE LADY FAN, BUT I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THE DENNIS-SHERRY-AARON-BECKY-BRENDA THING. IT'S TIME FOR SOMETHING FRESH AND NEW PLEASE.I love Parnell Hall's wordplay in both his "Puzzle Lady" and "Stanley Hastings" mysteries, and THE SUDOKU PUZZLE MURDERS had me laughing out loud. While certainly the plot is convoluted, it ties up nicely at the end -- I wasn't left with any unanswered questions, or things that didn't make sense. And unlike many mysteries I read, the murderer was not obvious despite the fact that there were few suspects.
I do disagree with a previous review that said the two Japanese businessmen were difficult to tell apart. I thought the author made it very clear that no one had trouble telling them apart. The confusion Sherry had in signing the wrong man was simply because at the time no one realized there were two different men trying to sign the Puzzle Lady to a book deal.
I highly recommend this light, breezy, fun read.
Every year I look forward to another Puzzle Lady Mystery. The last one I was not that fond of. This one is very good. The mystery was interesting. The Suduko and Crossword puzzles were clever how they tied into the story. The only complaint I have is that the author wrote about two Japanese men that were suspects, and they were very difficult to distinguish. The two men were supposed to be similar and that is why Cora's niece gets confused when she meets with one not the other, but I believe there were times that the readers will get confused too.
Even with the slight confusion, I still recommend this book. It is a light read, that will make you smile. It is a good summer read. Enjoy! Finally Cora solves a "paper" puzzle by the numbers and with a little "Oriental" wisdom keeps us wanting more. Parnell Hall's done it again. While similar to Nero Blanc's Crossword Mysteries (which I haven't read), I took an instant liking to Parnell Hall's Puzzle Lady Mysteries. They are just fun, clever and breezy. I like the characters and the clever dialogue. The plot is convoluted but I try not to dwell on it and just enjoy the book. I can't wait for the next installment.
It was glaring the change of format though with the switch of publishers (to St. Martin's Minotaur). I wish the books would just be released in paperback format from the get go because I think it would be more popular.
I would recommend the Archie McNally series by Lawrence Sanders if you enjoy fun mysteries.Cora Felton, the Puzzle Lady (who actually couldn’t solve a crossword puzzle to save her life), is surprisingly good at sudoku, so it’s no problem when a Japanese publisher asks her to write a sudoku book. But when two Japanese publishers show up in Bakerhaven to vie for her services, Cora is a little confused. Which one did she actually sign with? Which one has the stunning geisha wife? And which one is about to be arrested for murder? The two men are archenemies and will go to great lengths to ace out each other. But would they stoop to murder? Someone is littering the town with sudoku, crossword puzzles, and dead private eyes. It’s up to Cora, with the help of her niece, Sherry, to solve the puzzle, the sudoku, and the murder, before the killer strikes again. Parnell Hall delivers another entertaining, puzzle-packed adventure with his delightfully untraditional sleuth, featuring for the first time sudoku puzzles byNew York Timescrossword editor Will Shortz. customer 's review(HORRIBLE!!!) (LCD Sucks) I purchased this item from THE SAVE WAVE and not only did they misrepresent this item (they have the cheap product on this site NOW, it originally showed it as digital w/a stylus pen)I paid for 2 and only received 1 and not only was I charged for 2 but it was the wrong item!! The one they sent (pictured NOW) is so hard to use; the screen is too hard to see (and I'M 33 with 20/20 vision) the buttons are so small that unless you had a prodigy child of 3 months old you can't possibly push the correct buttons being that they are so small, and it is so cheaply made, I purchased this as a Christmas present but would NEVER give it. I would be completely embarrassed! Sudoku is a great game but not in this form or from this Seller. My advice? Pass this one by, I went to WALMART tonight and bought the real deal...backlight, 2 stylis pens, over a million puzzles with the capability of downloading puzzles all for only $14.98. Wish I would have went there first. PS- The Savewave admitted that they made the mistake and told me that they would send the CORRECT items. That was three weeks ago and after calling several times and receiving an automated voice mail and then sending two e-mails, still no response. I give both this product and its seller a -10.I thought it was going to light up all kinds, but when i recieved the item and turned off all the lights to see how well the LCD was in fact i could hardly tell that it was even on. I could see any numbers on the screen which made it pointless to have it in the dark if the LCD doesn't even work properly. Also when using it in the light you have to face the screen flat in order to see the numbers at all, you are not able to look directly at the face. I think this is very upsetting and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Our Super Electronic Handheld Sudoku puzzles are all top of the line. Each model includes over 1,000,000 puzzles built in.
