An eight-year-old may enjoy watching the mechanics of this gadget, but very few will be able to assemble it without significant adult help. Working with my sons (5 and 8), the process took more than 2 hours. Since my older son can construct nearly anything Lego produces by following their brilliant directions (I had not previously realized how well designed they are), there was no way he could manage this construction process himself. Looking at the pictorial instructions is not enough to figure things out and the textual directions are almost non-existent. To construct the product, one needs to squint, look at the directions, examine the box, lay the pieces out, rearrange things, turn them over, and keep trying until all possiblities have been exhausted. Then, expect to make a few errors and be forced to tear down sections and start again (especially early in the process when the idiocy of the design has not yet become apparent to you).
There are many cheaper and less creative toys on the market, but there are many better designed construction toys too. My money will continue to go to Legos, K-Nex, and other systems that are genuinely flexible. The box may claim that other designs can be constucted from these pieces, but anyone old enough to figure them out will probably no longer be interested in a toy of this quality.』

Gould does not need to make "pencil marks" and assumes the rest of us don't. Hence, small grids for fiendish puzzles.』
(Very Good but Not Totally Fiendish) 『I have to admit that I do love Wayne Gould's puzzles, which is why I bought this book sight unseen. Being an addict of very difficult sudoku (or "Su Doku", as he calls them), I looked forward to his worst. This is written after solving the first half.
Mr. Gould is of the solving school that thinks marking up the puzzle gets in the way of good solving. He challenges the solver to find his carefully hidden clues, all of which can be found without marking up -- if you have a better memory for numbers than I have. This is great fun, and I appreciate and enjoy the challenge. The downside is that for people who like REALLY hard (grid coloring, logic chains), these puzzles are not fiendishly hard.
I highly recommend this book to those who are trying to learn how to solve very difficult puzzles that can be solved by traditional techniques. It is filled with interesting and varied puzzles, and you will find some much harder than others because they test different solving methods. For an advanced solver, it is certainly much more fun than the average book.

The puzzles don't follow the rules of Kakuro, so it's virtually unplayable. There should never be a point where you can only get the answer by sheer guessing; you should always be able to work out the number given all of the other clues. You might have to temporarily guess but by following that path you should be able to verify or disprove your guess.
The interface is, um, unique, but it is useable. I wouldn't have given it one star for that. It lets you operate with the buttons rather than the stylus and it takes a bit of getting used to.』

(Sudoku Gridmaster-An ok game for the DS.) 『This was the second game I bought for my Nintendo DS. I was looking for something to play that would pass some time during long plane rides. This game does the trick!
So what's to like about this game? Hey, it's Sudoku. Chances are if you are considering buying this game, you know what Sudoku is. It may not be the most interesting game for the DS but it's a good puzzle game that forces you to use your brain. Second, you have different levels of difficulty. I started at the practice level and have now worked my way to the easy level. Third, there are a ton of puzzles to play so you don't have to play the same few puzzles over and over.
And what's not to like? Like some other reviewers said, the background and music are pretty boring. If this doesn't bother you, you have nothing to worry about. Also, I can't play this game for a good amount of time. I only pull this out when I need to pass some time.
