If you bought it for a present for Christmas or a birthday then do everyone a favor and return it now, hopefully before it inflicts anxiety and anguish in the entire family. It's extremely difficult to put together correctly, it's flimsy, the parts are made with poor tolerances that make it not work well. Just say no.』
(Great for an inventive child) 『I have to admit I was hesitant to buy this item after reading the negative reviews. However, my family found that the negative issues others experienced were simply not the case with us. There are claims that this toy is a "one trick pony," or in other words that it is only good for one thing. However, the products own webpage has plans for several ways to reconstruct the parts in different configurations.
The bottom line is that if your child is inventive and likes building, they will like this toy. Ours even found uses for the parts with other toys like Legos, Bionicles, etc.
However, it can be annoyingly noisy at times. And pets like dogs can activate it its on/off mechanism pretty easily. Those are the only two warnings I would advise potential purchasers of this product.』
(Hard-to-build marble run is average) 『I would not have bought this contraption if [...] didn't have it on sale for [...] bucks. While the assembled set is pretty impressive, there are a few problems with this toy.
First, the build time was long, too long. Second, some of the plastic pieces did not match the colored plastic pieces in the manual, so at first you were wondering if you were on the right track or would have to start over after completing stages 1 and 2. Last, the tolerance of the plastic is so low that if you do not get the ramps overlapped correctly, marbles will stall -- and this happens not only on ramps but for any of the moving parts like the twisty ladder. Once you get the machine going, you have to adjust the columns, beams, axes, etc. for another half hour to make sure all the tolerances are within limits to allow the marbles to go.
Last but not least, compared to something like a Quadrilla (I have two sets), the plastic of this set feels flimsy, and the base of this set is a joke! I fully expect a slight brush to knock pieces out of alignment or the whole thing to topple like a house of cards.
I am still giving this product three stars because my son absolutely loves it, so despite all the flaws an adult like me sees, I have to consider the entertainment value for my target audience, and he's pretty delighted by the contraption. ;-] Another good thing is that our random collection of different-size marbles works just fine on this run. The battery is easy enough to change out.
After I built this thing, I swore I wouldn't take it apart and rebuild it into another design, so I guess my next step is gluing. I think this set will handle that all right. 』
(Fun for us) 『I brought this home from [...]this afternoon for my almost 5yo son. While the directions to build the thing were rather intense overall, we were able to put it together in about 3.5 hours or so total. Once it was assembled and the marbles started going, my 4yo went crazy and I had a very tough time getting him to bed.
The build was a little much for him from time to time, but he wouldn't leave the table and go watch cartoons or color his books. I was able to have him help me assemble it by handing me the pieces as I called them out by number (good learning exercise for him for sure).
The marbles do fall off from time to time, you have to watch it. But it's interactive and part of the fun for him is getting the marbles and putting them back into the contraption at different points on the various paths.
The mechanism is a little finicky and I had to re-assemble a screw-ladder portion because it kept jamming. But once I did and set it really good, it started working perfectly.
I had trouble with the sound piece and thought it came DOA. Then I discovered the small on-off switch on the bottom which is very hard to see as it blends right in to the piece itself. After I switched it on it works perfectly as well.
The set came with some extra pieces and a very cool "stopper" piece which wasn't even in the directions (optional placement). My son really enjoyed this aspect as I put it under the sound tunnel so when the sound went off, he knew he had a marble at the stopper to release.
The manual is very well illustrated and easy to follow. They include some good tips on making the build go smoother which I followed. They seemed to help a lot.
Overall, I gave it 4 stars as some of the design could have been a little better/easier (why have a front and back to the six-way connectors?) but it was a steel at 40 dollars from [...] and me and my son are looking forward to putting together some alternate designs (one alternate design is on the website now).』
(Don't buy this!!!!) 『We bought this at Costco thinking it would be a fun family project. It had a 2009 top toy of the year award! Friday evening and in to Saturday we struggled to build this having to contort the plastic beams to try and make the ramps fit the instructions. Several times we returned to the previous instructions to confirm we had started the beams in the right area. The toy is listed as age 8 and up but between my wife and I (both not engineers but with technical backgrounds) we could not complete set up of this toy!!!!! After an extremely frustrating day of coming back to it several times to try again we concluded that it was a waste of time.
Indeed the model set up at Costco was glued together and in an enclosed case in retrospect. Some of the other reviews mentioned the difficulty of keeping the toy together once it was built. I can easily envision this difficulty given my experience of having to repeatedly rebuild sections of the toy even in a half built state.
It is a very cool idea. Perhaps in the toy design engineer world it works well. It could perhaps be redesigned to work well in the real world. This time there is an element of arithmetic involved and there are few, if any, clues. The aim is to not only complete every row, column, and cube so that it contains the digits 1 to 9, but to also fill in the outlined cubes so they add up to the same number.
Hints to solve the puzzle are hidden in the joined squares where only one combination of numbers applies. In the case of joined squares, if the printed number is 3, it should be 1 and 2 that go into the squares. Likewise, in the case of three joined squares, if the printed number is 6, the only combination possible is 1, 2, and 3.
To add one final fiendish level, each puzzle also has a time worked out by its Japanese creators so you can try to beat the clock.

This by far is the best Sudoku game out there either on PC or console. It's extremely addictive not just because it's Sudoku (duh!) but also because the gameplay is so smooth.
Choose a difficulty level from 1 to 10 and the game will properly create a challenge according to your preference. I enjoy playing at level 10 and it can get very tough.
The game plays a very enjoyable tune in the background while you think. It can be paused on demand (the grid will be blocked and the clock stopped). You can set it in fullscreen mode or a window. You just need to use your mouse: left-click to set a number or right click to set a mark. The game will also allow you to print random games in pdf format so you can print them and play them when not in front of the computer.
The interface of the game is very pleasant to the eye. I found myself staring at the screen for 15 minutes in a row while playing in full mode and I barely blinked.
Gamehouse Sudoku has one tiny flaw. The game will warn you when you place duplicate numbers in a row, column or square. Not a big deal considering most players don't make that mistake but the developers could have have prevented that. Other than that, the game is top-notch.
Also, the game barely uses any resources. I played it on a netbook and didn't see any performance changes compared to my desktop PC.
And for the price of $7, it's a steal. What are you doing there sitting thinking about it? Buy this game right now. You won't regret a single cent spent on it.
