This pig e bank is very cute! My kids like putting the money in&even re-counting it over&over. It did get a little annoying when we first got it as my daughter had A LOT of change to put in, but that was only initially. She really likes seeing her total amount increase!
As an educational toy, this product is a failure. It does NOT consistently recognize the coins correctly. About 75% of the time it was wrong. Not a good way to teach kids! Also, the bank we received stuttered constantly like a record skipping and would not shut off. Bad product all around!
My son had seen this item in a toy catalog and really wanted it from Santa for Christmas. He already has a piggy bank but all he talked about was getting this piggy bank from Santa so I sort of had to. He really likes it and I do too. It is pretty well constructed but could be better. It works like it is supposed to for the most part. The only thing I don't like is that it sometimes doesn't recognize a coin properly. For example, I might put a dime in and it recognizes it as a penny. Same with quarters and nickels. Other than that, it's a worthwhile toy. It is helpling my sons (my 5 year old likes to put coins in too)recognize coins and their values.
This piggy bank is nice and durable. However, my 3yr old finds it a bit difficult to use and therefore doesn't care about it much. It's tough for him to put the coins into the bank as you really have to push them in with some force so the bank will recognize the coins and record them correctly. He also finds the button fun to play with so there's no correct keeping of the dollar about in the piggy bank.

As he gets older, it will probably be easier for him to use. For now, he doesn't care much about it.

I have purchased 6 of these books. I love the size of the puzzles. The size and different difficulties make it a fun book to do over and over.
I got this as a gift for my dad. Haven't looked at it too closely.
I look for Sudoku books with three qualities. First, I want puzzles that have only one solution. If I find a book that includes puzzles with more than one solution I discard it. Two, I want books with grids large enough that I can enter candidates in the cells. Third, I want books with challenging puzzles. Many of the descriptions on Amazon omit such info.

I prefer grids that are about 4½" x 4 ½". The grids in my newspaper are about 3" x 3" (which is tolerable because not many candidates are needed).

Shortz's Ultimate Sudoku 1000: The puzzles have only one solution; the grids are 4½" x 4 1/2". There are 1,000 puzzles in this book: 450 easy; 200 moderate; 180 demanding, and 170 very challenging. I cut the pages out and put them on a clipboard. The only improvement I would suggest to the publisher is to perforate the pages. (Don't confuse this book with Shortz's The Ultimate Sudoku Challenge [100 puzzles]. I did and now have two of the latter instead of two of the former.)
Was surprised by how large the book is (I guess I should have guessed that 1000 puzzles would be a large book). Too large for taking for travel. Too many of the puzzles are "easy" (450 out of 1000). But it was inexpensive!!
I knocked off a star because I don't like how the puzzles do not conform to the standards of symmetric givens and 30 or less givens (although this is really only present in the easy puzzles, some of which have 39+ givens). I also think there are too many easy puzzles (450); I just skipped the easy section entirely because I found them too easy and boring. However, this is still a pretty good sudoku book and with 1000 puzzles will definitely last you a while (even if you skip the easy ones).

Conceptis does the best job with Sudoku variants. 169 different puzzles in about a half dozen different variants from easy to challenging. Lots of fun, and printed on good paper so easy to erase your "guesses".

I bought this before a trip - what a fun way to spend the time on a long airplane ride!
I must admit I am a bit of a Sudoku junkie. This book has many variants of the game, but not nearly as many as I expected. Just about the better known. All and all, it has 169 puzzles to solve, and most likely, if you are like me, solving two or three a day and not getting tired of them, this book will give you enough to do for a good couple of months.
If you are sick of plain old sudoku, this book is for you. It has 4 different variations of sudoku to challenge you and keep you entertained. Nice large numbers and spaces to make it easy to play.
Nice set of puzzles. Good variety, haven't tried them all yet, but that's cause I still have to work for a living. Good twist to the original.

If you want truly difficult killer sudokus then this is your book. They also include a few less difficult puzzles, which I appreciated.
I am about to order this book for the third time-- (It's not as if I remember the numbers that belong in the grids). This is very addictive. It calms my mind before I fall asleep, keeps me busy in the bathroom, I carry it around in my purse in case I have a few seconds of down time. It's much more intersting than regular sudoku and it's not necessarily harder (till you get to the end of the book). I like it because there are so many more clues, so many more ways to find the answer than regular sudoku. Buy it at your own risk.

This collection provides a nice group of killer sudoku puzzles ranging from gentle to deadly. The hardest ones are too hard for me, but I'm relatively new to killer sudoku. The puzzles are a nice size so you don't have to cram your numbers into eensy weensy squares. My only real complaint is that the paper's a trifle on the thin side and you can see the impressions of your markings on the other side of a page.
If you like Sudoku but find it a little boring try the killer puzzles. Math additions make this an exciting book. I have done this book twice already, and it was just as enjoyable the second time as the first.
I encountered Killer Sudoku in a Will Shortz sudoku variants book and became hooked on it, and this is a great book of it. It allows you to move between a variety of solving techniques taken from both regular Sudoku and Kakuro. The puzzles here come in a good variety of solving difficulty, with enough easy ones for you to practice your techniques on, and enough challenging ones that you won't get bored.
Just when you thought it was safe to pick up a pencil

Killer Su Dokuis based on the original Su Doku grid, with the same rules and numbers—1 to 9—but with an added deadly twist. This time there is an element of arithmetic involved and there are few, if any, clues. The aim is to not only complete every row, column, and cube so that it contains the digits 1 to 9, but to also fill in the outlined cubes so they add up to the same number.

Hints to solve the puzzle are hidden in the joined squares where only one combination of numbers applies. In the case of joined squares, if the printed number is 3, it should be 1 and 2 that go into the squares. Likewise, in the case of three joined squares, if the printed number is 6, the only combination possible is 1, 2, and 3.

To add one final fiendish level, each puzzle also has a time worked out by its Japanese creators so you can try to beat the clock.

I thought the interface for this game was far better than any of the ones I've played thus far. I also think the backgrounds are vivid and really add to the "playing atmosphere" or "gaming experience."
HOWEVER, this does NOT make my patience for this game any better. The POP-UPS that appear in the middle of the screen during game play (while the time is still ticking away mind you) made me go insane. I would lose my train of thought that was getting me to my answer. The only way I managed to get through this was pausing until it was over. Which is entirely ridiculous for a game so simple. It got to the point that I was nervous to lose my place from it popping up while I was playing. In my opinion this irritation isn't exactly worth it. I put up with it only because I had already bought it and really wanted to play Sudoku.
In addition to the main annoyance, I find it unsatisfying that when you make a mistake, they immediately tell you so. Also, once all the stars that represent mistake allowances are gone, you are able to continue playing that current puzzle. What is the point? I would hope that it would make me restart the puzzle in order to get the challenge that I thrive on that I've come to expect from the puzzle genre.
You need to have a lot of patience if you want to play this less-than-mediocre-in-design puzzle game. I am extremely surprised that I stuck it out long enough to complete all of the puzzles in Difficult mode! I recommend buying a game that is a compilation that includes Sudoku as one of it's puzzles.
As an addict of sudoku games, this game came as a disappointment. This game biggest flaw is the inexplicable loading screen. Why does it need to load so much. These loading skill happen so often that the interrupt the momentum of the game. I was so disgusted with the game that I did something I have never done, I threw it away. It wasn't even worth it for me to try and resell it. Avoid this game.

The game started out fine. Relaxing music, you choose the difficulty, style, and then you play. Well I put a wrong number in one of the boxes...Then it TELLS YOU THAT YOU PUT IN THE WRONG NUMBER!!! WhAt?! No! Nuh-uh! That defeates the WHOLE GAME! WHATS THE POINT IN PLAYING SUDOKU IF IT JUST TELLS YOU THE ANSWER?!

Great game with very nice graphics and tons of puzzels HOWEVER game auto saves (nonstop) during game play for 15-20 seconds at a time; WHY!?!? That has been the only major draw back as it auto saves approx every three minutes for some reason. Too bad really.

Sudoku in a video game should be straight forward, easy to grasp controls, and a font that's pleasant to look at at. Sudoku Gridmaster has all of this. Plus you can test to see where you rank (ie bronze, silver, gold, platinum) after completing a certain number of puzzles in Normal or Hard mode. This version is MUCH better than Platinum Sudoku in my opinion, even though there are only 400 puzzles here. The puzzles are similar to the Nikoli versions Original Sudoku. I highly recommend this game.
I would have to say that given all of the sudoku games being produced, this one is second easiest to play (other than Brain Age). But then again, you don't have to go through the Brain Age interface to get to play sudoku.
Would be better with random puzzle generation, as once you've beaten them all you can only better your times or reset the whole thing.
I play it all the time - it will stay in my game library!
This is the most addictive Sudoku DS game that I own (and I have them all). I only wish they would come out with a second edition.
Being able to highlight blocks and numbers really helps my playing.
I have found that playing Sudoku Gridmaster has honed my overall playing skills. When I go back to Brain Age, I can solve puzzles more easily and efficiently as a result of playing Gridmaster.
I can barely put it down. I'm almost finished solving ALL the skill levels and I'm planning on starting over again.

I REALLY like this game. Sure, it isn't as good as Brain Age, but it is still really fun and the puzzles are GREAT!! I don't bother writing my answers. I just use the numbers. It's much easier. From what I've heard, it's better than the other Sudokus on the market and very convenient when waiting at the airport or doctor's office. You can't please everyone, but they did a pretty decent job. I actually love the version on my phone of all places. It's simple and let's you focus on the game.

This was the second game I bought for my Nintendo DS. I was looking for something to play that would pass some time during long plane rides. This game does the trick!

So what's to like about this game? Hey, it's Sudoku. Chances are if you are considering buying this game, you know what Sudoku is. It may not be the most interesting game for the DS but it's a good puzzle game that forces you to use your brain. Second, you have different levels of difficulty. I started at the practice level and have now worked my way to the easy level. Third, there are a ton of puzzles to play so you don't have to play the same few puzzles over and over.

And what's not to like? Like some other reviewers said, the background and music are pretty boring. If this doesn't bother you, you have nothing to worry about. Also, I can't play this game for a good amount of time. I only pull this out when I need to pass some time.

If you're looking for a good Sudoku game and don't mind annoying music and unpleasant background colors, this is a good choice. However, I'm sure that there are better Sudoku games out there.

Some people may find the testing to be long, and boring - but the mind builder should not be expected to be as entertaining as tossing grenades at bad guys in a 3 dimensional game. It is about figuring out puzzles.

People who enjoy puzzles, like myself, will enjoy the challenge of the testing as well as the training - and the beauty of the scoring is that you get to review the right answers that have explanations as to why they were right.

But you can't memorize the test.

All in all, this is a wonderfully mobile puzzle book that allows one to become better at puzzles the more one uses it. To some, this will be an awesome toy and a great exercise.

If you're seriously interested in puzzles and figuring things out, this is worth a shot. If you want something that allows you to vaporize invading hordes of zombies - plenty of other pieces of software for that.
The exercises are long, I was hoping for it to be more fun and not like taking a test in school.
