These cakes are great for a themed party or just for fun. You can make cute muffins as well. You do have to ensure the cake is VERY cool before trying to remove from the pan if you want them to come out.
I have not made the recipe on the package, but I have used the pan a couple times with other recipes I have. I do know that most boxed cake mixes are too fragile and "wet." You need to modify the mix.
If you are not into decorating, you can make a sugar glaze to go over top.
Downside: requires storage space unless you do a lot of creative baking.
Note: The cake details are not as clear with chocolate cake. I made an old fashioned chocolate cake in them, and found I needed to do more decorating with icing to really bring out the fun details.
Recipe note: I have used the recipe for both the train cake pan NordicWare Platinum Collection Train Pan and the snowman cake pan Nordicware 55448 Snowman Pan and both are very good (especially the snowman, if not labor intensive).
Only used this item two times. First use with recipe provided, worked great. Second use, used a regular cake mix, had to throw the hole thing in the garbage. The recipe they provide doesn't taste that good but apparently is the only way you can get the cake out of the pan. A regular cake mix just sticks to the pan and makes a horrible mess.

If you want to get your kids interested in music, this is probably the best ways to start. An absolutely fantastic video (or now DVD).

This purchase is to replace the old VHS tape we had. The only gripe is that the quality of the image is 1990's.
I bought this DVD for a young person for Christmas. He was thrilled with it. I love Raffi's easy way with kids. He never speaks down to them. His music is interesting and fun. The DVD is very well done.

Raffi is the type of person who just wants every child in this world to be happy. He delights everyone with his infectious songs and warmth, no matter what the age. I never mind sitting down to watch with my toddlers because I actually LIKE the songs, just as much as they do. We also listen to the CDs which helps them know the words. This was made in the 80s so the audience members have clothes that are a bit dated, but it matters not at all. Your kids will love him. No cartoon images, and no sudden camera movements.
When our God-child was very young his mom purchased this item in the form of a video tape. This young man is now 21 years old. After hearing it I was hooked and have continued to introduce it to many youngsters. This past Christmas season my husband and I gave the DVD to both of our new grandsons. They will surely enjoy the gift that Raffi offers to his audience.
This DVD was wonderful for my little sister who is 2! She thouroughly enjoyed every second of it and it kept her very occupied!

This first filmed concert by Raffi illustrates his immense charm. The soft-spoken singer leads his turquoise-clad, four-member band through 20 songs with a rapt audience of kids and parents singing along. Raffi's easy manner and fluid vocals create an atmosphere that is very welcoming to youngsters, easily going from cute songs ("Apples and Bananas") to popular songs ("Day O") to a Spanish number ("De Colores") without ever losing them. The video also captures another key element of Raffi's success--his gaze is always inviting. The songs (also available on CD) include Raffi favorites "Everything Grows" and "Baby Beluga" and lots of standards. A wonderful time for ages 2-10 and adults.--Doug Thomas

Short video, out dated as far as picture quality, etc. I won't be buying more of them. It is hard to rate it high because of picture quality. An innocent little video of songs, takes you back in time. I like the animals and singing, but that is about it. Sorry for such a bad review on this video.

I bought this video years ago for my son when he was two yrs. old and he loved it! Now he is 15 yrs. old and my oldest daughter has children of her own (18 months and four yrs. old). I pulled out the old VHS version from the attic thinking perhaps my grandchildren would enjoy it. My 18 month old granddaughter loved it! My four yr. old grandson is into super heroes but I find he cannot help but stop and watch it when it's on. The songs are catchy and the video is full of life. Now I have updated my VHS to a DVD. A wonderful purchase for any little one who loves animals! Hair-dos and attire are dated, but this is a classic.
Bought a few of these for my 4 year old nephew's b-day. Of course, he loved them as much as I did as a kid. Still great!
I have 3 kids and a child care, the kids love it. We all know the songs! It gets the kids up singing and dancing around the house on rainy days and when it's done they want to do it again!

This film is long overdue for a DVD availability. To think that you can get "Full House" in boxed sets but not this little gem.

It's not a perfect film but it evokes the rhythm and atmosphere of the time. Forget Coppola, look at folks like Julie Harris, Rip Torn and Karen Black. Revel in the weirdness of sixties poetry, drama and interior decoration. Beyond all that, revel in the performance of Peter Kastner, at once likable and pathetic. He never seemed to garner the recognition he deserved; forever to wear the albatross of "The Ugliest Girl In Town" around his neck.

I just get a good feeling whenever I get the chance to see this movie or even think about it. Let me own it and relish each and every scene (and a commentary by Peter Kastner and others wouldn't hurt at this stage, either)
About 15 minutes into this quirky film I was ready to proclaim it a must see and to bill it as the best movie no one has seen or even heard about. After all it was Coppola's masters thesis for film school. It has Elizabeth Hartman successfully playing against type as a sexy (somewhat psycho) Greenwich Village ingénue. It has Peter Kastner, Rip Torn, Geraldine Page and Julie Harris playing characters as bizarre as those in "Harold and Maude" (it reminds you a lot of that film and may have inspired it). It has Karen Black doing a toned down version of the Rayette Dipesto character she would play in "Five Easy Pieces". It has a lively sound track by the Lovin' Spoonful. It even has Coppola cutting in extensive gruesome footage from his first film "Dementia 13".

Unfortunately by the halfway point of "You're a Big Boy Now" it runs out of steam and you begin to understand its obscurity. Coppola's script is the problem because the cast are generally excellent and you can tell they had a lot of fun making the film. Even minor cast members like Dolph Sweet do a good job and there are great little sequences like Kastner's after dark explorations of the New York City streets. But unlike "Herald and Maude", Coppola says nothing with this film; consequently it ends up as a classic case of the whole being considerably less than the sum of its parts.

This is not Coppola's best stuff but is worth checking out if you like Hartman, Harris, and Page.

Then again, what do I know? I'm only a child.
I just want to say that "You're a Big Boy Now", is one of my all time favorite movies. Cheesy? Yes. Entertaining? Absolutely. I first watched it back in 1989 (I was 19 years old, Bernard's age) and in a way I related to Bernard. Growing up and moving into my own apartment and what not.

Bernard's mother (Geraldine Paige) reminds me so much of my mother. Over-nurturing, over protective and nosey (sorry Mom.)
The acting in this movie is absolutely wonderful. Even "Dog" (yes, that's the name of Bernard's
dog) did a good job in this film. This is a must see!
I think this movie is one of Coppola's best, since there is no confusing drama/mystery in it(The Conversation). The plot is that a man has just moved out of his home and is going out with a girl he knew in high school. However, he also falls for a go-go dancer at a club the two go to. The movie is slightly dated, but it makes up for it with charm, espiecially the music. The acting is superb, and it's just a funny movie. I believe Coppola made this for his thesis at UCLA, I'm not quite sure. It's still good, so check it out.
Sure, one can dissect this film the way a film-dissector dissects films. Throw those dissections away, though, and watch this film for the pure beauty of writing, acting, direction, score, cinematography, and genuine zaniness of ecclectica that ensues from the very opening scene til the last. I love this movie for everything that it offers and everything that a film-dissector says it could never offer. To me, it is a cult classic - it cannot be dissected like any other flick.

P.S. My favorite scene, other than all of them in general, is when Bernard sees Barbara Darling dance for the first time at the Go-Go club. It's as raw and real as life gets, or at least got at that time. Man alive, this movie gets 6 stars on a 5-star basis.
Rare is the movie that qualifies as both its director's film-school master's thesis and his first project for a major studio (Warner Bros.).You're a Big Boy Nowis also the lone instance of Francis Ford Coppola's attempting an out-and-out comedy--and forgoing future endeavors in that line was a wise career decision. The picture's a grab-bag of zaniness and manic playfulness in imitation of the freewheeling French New Wave films that were all the rage with cinema buffs at the time. The theme is the moving-away-from-home and sexual coming-of-age of Bernard Chanticleer (Peter Kastner), a boyish, going-on-twenty Long Islander with a hyper-neurotic mom (supporting-actress Oscar nominee Geraldine Page) and a pompous pop (Rip Torn), who as Curator of Incunabula at the New York Public Library is also his boss. Bernard is so smitten with Barbara Darling (Elizabeth Hartman), a man-eating, go-go-dancing sylph who¹s part of an avant-garde theater company, that he almost literally can't see the sweet girl (Karen Black in her first role) who works alongside him, and painfully pines for him, at the library. Yet another female grotesque is Bernard's repressed landlady (Julie Harris), whose honest-to-God name, Miss Thing, may be the film's one enduring legacy to American culture. Coppola's talent is apparent even when he's trivializing it, and there are some nice ideas--e.g., a small army of library drones lyrically roller-skating through the stacks, and a meet-cute moment involving the library's pneumatic-tube system that may have inspired the New Wave's François Truffaut in turn (v.Stolen Kisses). But there's also no end of scampering along the sidewalks and streets of Manhattan for which, again and again, you'll wish Coppola had been slapped.--Richard T. Jameson

This review is for the out of print Anchor Bay release of "Alice, Sweet Alice." It's been remastered to its original, uncut version of 106 minutes and has a widescreen presentation that appears more like 2.35:1 in lieu of the 1.85:1 stated on the jacket. The film has numerous green vertical lines in the beginning but disappear altogether as the story progresses. There is full-length commentary from director Alfred Sole and editor Edward Salier. There are no closed captions. The Henstooth edition may prove a better purchase.

Alice Spages (Paula Sheppard) is anything but sweet. In fact, she is a biter, angry mentally unhinged twelve-year-old from a dysfunctional family. She harasses her pretty, young sister Karen (Brooke Shields), plays cruel jokes on her obese, obnoxious landlord Alphonso (Alphonso DeNoble), and disobeys her gorgeous mom Catherine (Linda Miller). When Karen is murdered at her first Catholic communion, it is no wonder Alice is the prime suspect. Soon, other members of her family are attacked by someone wearing a kewpie doll mask and a yellow slicker - exactly like the ones Alice owns.

Expertly directed by Alfred Sole, "Alice, Sweet Alice" is homage to Nicolas Roeg's supernatural horror slasher "Don't Look Now." Both involve killers wearing yellow slickers. "Alice, Sweet Alice" (originally, and more appropriately titled "Communion") works well as both a mystery and a slasher. In fact it is in the same bloody vein as the Italian gialli (murder mysteries) that were highly popular in the late sixties to early seventies.

Paula Sheppard's performance as Alice is superb. Hard to believe she was actually nineteen. He childlike pouting and temper tantrums were extremely convincing. I wanted to slap her silly myself. She needed some tough love in a padded cell.

More popular today than it was when originally released, "Alice, Sweet Alice" is highly recommended for fans of psychological slasher horror, especially with ones that have religious overtones. The ending is gruesome and disturbing; it is not easily forgotten.

another vintage horror. it not that suspenseful and doesnt have elaborate deaths in it. there is only one death scene that is abit brutal. its when a guy gets smashed in the head to death with a big rock. the only true positive things about it are its a "who done it slasher", and if u want to offend someone religiously this movie is for u.
The first time I saw *Alice, Sweet Alice* was when I was flipping through the TV channels, looking for something good to watch. There's something about this movie because, since the first time I saw it, I've watched it repeatedly. I consider this film a classic because it is still suspenseful after all these years.

After her sister, Karen, is murdered, suspicion falls on Alice, who is just simply a bratty, spoiled child! After all, once you see the yellow raincoat and the mask, you'll assume it's has to be Alice who is the culprit. However, about halfway, you start to have doubts and that is what makes the film worthwhile to watch. And like *Sixth Sense*, you have to watch it again to see if you missed the clues.

*Alice, Sweet Alice* is symbols galore, heavily involving the Catholic church. You just have to watch it again to appreciate all the hidden messages. Thus, this film is a great conversational piece.

After 30 years, this film can still make you bite your nails. Now, I call that a classic!
I,m watchibg Alice Sweet Alice for the first time. I'm at the scene where she is hooked up to a lie detector after "Alice stabs her Aunt or does she? This is on top of my list of favorite horror films. This movie is very interesting. It's funny when alice drops the lie detector machine on the floor LOL, and the guy says "That little bitch is dumping your machine on the floor". Great film..i recomened everyone who like good suspence, horror and humor to watch it or better yet buy the DVD.
This horror story gets your attention right away. You want to find out what happens since you see Brooks Shields name in the credits. She is around for a while but is gone before the ending credits. Her 1st film I believe. She has a presence even at her young age in this flick. Good to see if for nothing else a historic moment in an actor's filmography(shields).
Paula Sheppard is Alice, a pouty, petulant problem child at that awkward age living with her precocious little sister Karen (Brooke Shields) and single mom. When Karen is murdered during her first communion and Alice takes her place in line, suspicion immediately falls on her. Then a diminutive killer in a yellow slicker and opaque mask continues the reign of terror, and Alice's estranged father takes up the investigation to prove her innocence. Director Alfred Sole has acknowledged a debt to Nicolas Roeg'sDon't Look Now, butAlice, Sweet Aliceis really in the Hitchcock mold, a stylish, smartly executed psychological suspense thriller. The violence is rarely graphic but often grueling and always harrowing, and the deaths reverberate through the film in genuine and sometimes hysterical outpourings of grief. Even when Sole reveals the killer's identity in a startling moment halfway through (à laVertigo), the tension never lets up. The original title of the film,Communion, better captures the Catholic elements of guilt, sacrifice, and redemption that become central to the film (another tip to Hitchcock). Only a couple of grotesque caricatures (notably an obese pedophile landlord) and a few rough moments (largely special effects scenes, likely due to budgetary constraints) mar this otherwise intelligent and well executed thriller. The DVD also features an insightful commentary track by director Alfred Sole and editor Edward Salier and an alternate credits sequence (identical but for the film's title), as well as brief biographies and filmographies and a stills gallery.--Sean Axmaker

I watched this movie in school. Terrible acting. Boring Plot. Just an all around bad movie, one of the worst I've seen.
This movie is a poor look into the lives of illegal immigrants. It's very stereotypical and it makes our immigration people look bad. The acting was also really bad, and no one knew how to show real (seemingly) emotion. The script didn't help either...and the casting was bad. Oh well, I just hope a better movie comes out for this sometime!
This film is great. Karla Montana ("Stand and Deliver"),
and Tony Plana ("An Officer and a Gentleman"), Jerry Stiller (George Costanza's dad on "Seinfeld", Kevin James father in law on "King of Queens") and Susan Ruttan (Artie's secretary on "LA Law") are fantastic in this 1990 film. It does not look dated, (OK, there are some great mullets!) but the themes are timeless...coming of age, first love, second generation teen struggling against first generation parents, themes specific to latinos such as illegal immigration, quinceañeras, amnesty. It's all here and it all works. I have bought it for myself and my sister, purchased one for our middle school library and loaned it out to countless friends. They all loved it. Great for classrooms learning about other cultures, also social studies, it brings up some great issues.I highly recommend it!
I am a Spanish teacher in Florida, where Spanish is prevalent. We always show this video after presenting the"family"chapter. The clothing may be dated, Ramón may seem a little"old"for Marta, but other experiences lend a lot of validity to being a teenager, not just a"quinceañera". This video kept my students' attention, and that says a lot. They followed every conversation. They were especially involved in the dinner scene when Marta and her father had words. I could hear them talking about what their own father would have done.(smile) Not one of my students complained about it. They learned what"migra"meant, and they learned a bit about the harsh reality of being from Mexico and coming to the USA to make a living. One message was not to take so many things for granted.
This movie was not at all tasteful, but rather stupid. I swear, this was probably one of the stupidest and most pointless movies I have ever veiwed in my life! The actors were casted all wrong, and did a horrible job on their parts. This movie was a waste of time.

My son loves Caillos and all his friends . This is a great movie for any child.
My kids love Calliou, and every year during the holidays they both take turns taking it to school.
It's a really nice Christmas movie for young kids. It includes typical Caillou parts and also teaches a little about Christmas in other countries. My two and three year olds love it.
This full length movie is my kids first and only one they sit through. They love Caillou and I like that it teaches lots of lessons, like sharing, giving and learning about how others celebrate the holidays. My kids got this in early December but still ask to see it.
I ordered this movie from dvd legacy and I have not received my movie yet. I have tried to contact them so many times and have not gotten an response yet. I am very disappointed and will not order from them any more.

Overall a Good Movie to watch
This is a silly kid's movie, but it was certainly entertaining for kids. In the film, the twists and turns of Adam Sandler's life eerily resemble the bedtime stories he tells his sister's children. The movie actually has a few surprises and genuinely funny moments. However, the movie seems too short and character developments hurried. It is never really clear why, for example, why the two main characters fall in love (they go from hating each other to nearly kissing in the span of a few minutes). I suppose this isn't the most important element for a kid's movie, but better character development might have made the movie appeal to a wider audience.

MOVIE:
Adam Sandler is a funny guy, but I was a tad afraid to watch this after seeing that train wreck You Don't Mess With The Zohan in the theater. Seeing that movie, I lost a lot of respect for him. I kept wanting to leave the theater, but I convinced myself to stay, only to realize I shouldn't have.

Anyways, I swallowed my pride and rented this movie tonight in Blu-Ray. I'm really glad I did actually. It looks like all is forgiven with Mister Sandler.

Skeeter Bronson is a failing Utility man at a luxury hotel. His (overly eco-friendly) sister is leaving town for a week, so he watches over them for a week. He is to watch them at night when in the day, a friend of hers watches in the day. It seems as it they have not so good first impressions. However, they settle bad first impressions with Bedtime stories he tells. The stories are cute, fun, fantastical, and imaginative. And the funny thing is that they relate to his life- the hotel arses, him trying to win the management, the OCD boss, and much more.

I liked the movie a lot actually. It was funny, it was cute. It even had that classic Journey song Don't Stop Believin'. The special effects were great too! They looked very realistic and were very well done. And Sandler was hilarious too. So if you like the Sandler-type humor, be sure to see it.

BLU-RAY:

-VIDEO QUALITY: 4.5/5
The movie has a spectacular presentation. The video quality looks great especially in the story scenes. The best one weeing with Skeeto (I do mean the Sci-Fi one). The reason it gets half a point docked off is because of a slight grain in the few of a conversation scenes. But after a while it's unnoticeable.

-SOUND QUALITY: 5/5
The sound quality is excellent. The sound will blow you away, especially the ancient Rome scene. The music is quite mind blowing too. The 5.1 is great too. Good use of the back speakers too, during the story sequences you really feel like the crowd is surrounding you. It's a good release for sure.

-EXTRAS: 3/5:
A shame, really, about the extras. With the exception of the deleted scenes, they're very short. For one, we don't get a commentary track here. There's one about the space scene which is interesting but not really much. The one about Bugsy is wasted potential too. The one about the kids is OK, but WHERE'S A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT THE MOVIE? On the bright side, we have some cool deleted scenes, as well as some hilarious outtakes.

OVERALL: This is a good movie that's worth it for sure if you love Adam Sandler you'll like this movie. As for the Blu-Ray, it's worth it for the quality alone.

When his sister needs to leave the state for a job interview, Skeeter ends up sharing the responsibility of watching her two elementary-age children Bobbi (Laura Ann Kessling) and Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit), whom he hasn't seen for years, with Wendy's friend Jill (Keri Russell). Initially an awkward situation, Skeeter and the kids bond over bedtime stories which Skeeter and the children make up. When events in the story start coming true, Skeeter tries to spin the stories to benefit his life, but events take some unexpected turns thanks to the kids' wild imaginations and some strange translations between fiction and reality. Received a red "Mike" train and coal tender. Never heard of that one, but it seems to be of good quality, made of wood and plastic. My son likes it.
The video is one of the older ones w/ Ringo Starr. The production quality isn't as good as the more recent Thomas videos and Ringo is not one of the better narrators. He doesn't seem to have the warmth or the ability to keep the kids attention as well as others. It sounds like he is just reading a book out loud. Overrall, w/ the train, this is a decent value, but not great.
Our son enjoyed this DVD. We purchased it because the picture showed two trains engines. When it arrived it had 1 train and also his tender box, but not two train engines.
Instead of 2 engines pictured (Thomas and Duncan) the set ended up containing one cheaper engine (Mike) and its tender. A similar set I ordered last month on Amazon also included a wrong train. Finally, I paid $12 for this set last week and now the price has dropped down to $6.
It's a selection of Thomas videos, so if you know Thomas, you know what you're getting there. But as for the train included, it appears to be random. We received a red train we've never seen before with ours, which is obviously not the one pictured. Luckily it was bought as a gift for a neighbor who was just happy to get any train - our son would have been like "who's this train?"
The program is very silly for Adults, but Kids stay glued to the TV watching the narration of wooden trains! It is very annoying for Adults!

Cast your line in on the fun as Thomas decides fishing is not exactly what he expected, and learn with James the danger of getting a little too rough with the coaches. Full steam ahead for wonders and surprises on this magical journey. These tasted just like the little Famous Amos cookies, and I was glad to see they were made out of actual food¬ a bunch of chemicals (not that the Famous Amos cookies are necessarily fake food--I don't know offhand). I do like that the portion size was small, though the packaging is a little excessive for what you're getting--but individual portions always are. But you can always recycle the Mylar bags&feel less guilty about using excess packaging to curb your gluttony.
These are so delicious! My kids are on a diet restricting all preservatives and artificial ingredients, so I was thrilled to see these. I'm not usually a fan of commercial cookies, but I am so tempted by these--which is more than I can say for any of the other prepackaged treats I buy them. The package is small enough that I don't feel TOO guilty, but chocolately enough to really satisfy.
A great choice for packing lunches or a quick snack on the go. No trans fats or high fructose corn syrup either which is a tremendous plus in a packaged food. Will definitely buy again.
I purchased these for my children, to pack a sweet yet relatively healthful snack in their lunch sacks. I am giving 5 stars by the recommendation of myself&three sons (age 7, 5&3). When I tasted these, my first thought was that they were going to be gone FAST. My children and I love these little cookies ... Crunchy little gems without all the trans-fats&preservatives, that I try to keep out of my children's diets as much as I can. These will definitely remain on my grocery list.

I just got done using WEN and all i can say is WOW!!!!!!!!! My mother has hair like a baby and so does some of my siblings, but not me. Because my mom didn't believe in relaxing her girls hair, my hair had to be pressed out if i wanted it straight. I had nice soft,fine hair. It was heathy, until at 19 i decided to get my first relaxer. Well it stayed heathy for about 10 years. With relaxing,drying, and using a curling iron my poor soft and fine hair didn't stand a chance. FINALLY, my hair looks heathy again, i actally see that baby texture after the first wash. I love the way Wen makes my hair feel. My hair was hard to control and never soft before Wen. I have tried several of the different Wen types, but I love this one the most. I like Melissa and Doug products they are made well for the most part and stand up to toddlers rough handling. I am giving only 4 stars for this one because toddlers do put things in their mouths and I found with the Melissa and Doug puzzles, if sucked on enough, the paper on the top with the colors start to peel off. I got this for my 2 year grandson and we work them together, so he never is just alone with the puzzle, still he would put them in his mouth and chew while we were trying to find the right 'spot' for a piece and eventually the picture on top would start to peel off. But the pieces were big and chunk and the puzzle was easy for him to work with. I think this is a very good puzzle for a child over 2 years of age to have.
I bought this for my 3 yr old son. He loves puzzles and dinosaurs. So this was perfect for him. Pieces are thicker than regular puzzles so its pretty durable. Colorful and fun. I'd recommend it if your child likes puzzles, its a good one!
The picture is great, the durability is good, but would be much better if the picture was printed on the board. The puzzle is just sitting on a blank board. This makes it a little difficult for your average 3-year-old to do without a lot of help.

We gave this puzzle as a gift and we have heard that it is a big hit!
This is a challenging puzzle meant for older pre-schoolers or early elementary age. The pictures are interesting and appealing and fairly simple with sharp colors and durable blocks. This puzzle is difficult because children must select the appropriate side of each cube in order to complete the puzzle picture. The task is made simpler by the unique border color around each picture. This puzzle is made to last and will be enjoyed for years. Just don't expect a very young child to master it.
Most Melissa and Doug products are great. Painted surfaces and durable. I bought this one expecting the same, but was very disappointed. The blocks have pictures on paper poorly glued on. I have had to cover every block in book tape to keep it from peeling.
My 3 year old daughter loved this puzzle and continues to play with it. It is nice because it fits together easily (no funny shapes) and she likes the pictures.
Great toy. It's like having several puzzles in one. Best for over 4 yrs old and up since it's tough to remember earlier than that. A+

Everyone in the family has enjoyed playing with this toy! The pictures are bright and colorful and it is a great, challenging toy.
I gave this puzzle a high rating only because of its immense learning value. The quality of the puzzle is diminished because the stickers on each side of the puzzle can easily peel off [its just paper and not painted on], so one has to be very careful in handling the puzzle blocks. On the other hand, the educational value of this puzzle set is very high - young ones can spend quality fun time trying to figure out how to put an animal 'together' [there are six animals in all - pig, chicken, sheep, cow, horse, and duck]. Each puzzle block has six sides and children can learn to manipulate them to put an animal together. A set of pictures on the back of the puzzle box provides a visual cue as to how to piece each animal together.

The puzzle requires quite a bit of higher-order thinking skills and I would recommend this to preschoolers and up.
I had a puzzle like this when I was young. SO much fun! I had this in my hand. I wanted to buy it so badly. But as I looked through the shrink wrap I saw the pictures were peeling off the cubes. I thought, OK bad puzzle. But then I looked at ALL the puzzles they had at that store....they were ALL peeling. Usually you can't beat Melissa and Doug quality but this time is not one of those times. There has to be a better way to put the pictures onto the cubes.
I purchased this puzzle 5 years ago for my (now) 8 year old... it sits out on the coffee table 24/7. STILL my kids play with it.. they time each other, put it together upside down, and other creative stuff. It still amazes me that this simple puzzle gets played with at least once a week by an 11 year old, 8 year old and 5 year old. Best Christmas gift we ever got. Minor peeling of stickers, but you gotta expect that!

I bought this book based on some reviews that I have read. I found it to be okay. It gave me a few new ideas for lunches. A lot of the recipes call for mayo, ketchup or chicken. Overall, I think the recipes are fairly simple and kid friendly.
This book is filled with some creative ides. However, This book is not for my picky eaters!! Hopefully someday we'll be able to get the picky-eaters to be open to new foods. Also some recipes was just not practical. Over all I am glad to have this book for future use.
I am not the most creative person when it comes to packed lunches, but this book makes it easy! Many ingredients are easily found, and likely to be in your fridge or pantry already. Many you can make with leftover foods such as cooked chicken, or the 2 tablespoons of corn left over from dinner. Most are items my daughter will readily eat without complaint. For health reasons, we decided to stop eating cafeteria food and started packing our own. I ran out of ideas rather quickly and knew we had to break away from PB&J, so I ordered this book. What's great it that it's "adult friendly" too. No smiley face sandwiches or mac and cheese here...just healthy food made easy. Our kiddo is now the envy of the lunch room!

This was my first Rachel Hauk book. Love her. Thought she had some funny moments, and I loved how she developed her characters. We get the perfect amount of history so we feel we know them but aren't bored to tears with endless stories.

It stays pretty light hearted through out. I love that too, b/c of all the Christian fiction books I've loved- they've all been extremely emotional. And other Christian "romantic" books I've read? CHEESE.
And here this book was- the perfect combination of beginners faith that encourages you, and yet comedy to keep you laughing, interesting characters to keep you hooked, and no overwhelming sense of doom so this is just some good old brainless reading.... and then BAM. A horrible ending.

I haven't noticed anyone else on here commenting on it, so apparently I'm a rare person affected by that. But when I'm reading a romantic comedy (which is what I googled when I stumbled upon this book) then I want it wrapped in a beautiful bow and ended with contentment. This ended only left me feeling like book 2 is just starting. So there must be another one then, huh? What happens to Caroline?????

All in all I would definitely recommend this author. I really enjoyed 99% of this book. I would just add an appendix or something about how her decisions turned out (sorry to be vague but I don't want to ruin it for others).
I read a short synopsis about this book, it sounded good, so I bought it. I'll be honest, had I known this was a Christian Fiction book, I absolutely would have skipped right over it...and I would have missed out on an excellent story.

I make a point not to read anything God-related...my own personal reasons, it usually makes me feel uncomfortable since my own beliefs are somewhat...scattered. However, with this book, I didn't mind so much. Don't get me wrong, there was much eye-rolling going on in the beginning, but I was really into the story and wanted to see where it went, so I kept on. The more I read, the more okay I felt with the story, and where it was going, and even the presence of God (no, I'm not gonna start going to church and singing bible hymns, but hey, it's a start).

As for the story itself, COMPLETELY surprised by the ending! I thought this would be your typical, sweet, southern fiction book with the fairly predictable ending...HA! Not at all. I loved how it ended, and I really came to love all the characters. I even teared up a little (ok, a lot) at the end, when Caroline presented Henry (her brother) with his Christmas gift to her. Overall, a GREAT book, and I will absolutely read more from Ms. Hauck. Still slightly uncomfortable with all the God talk, but the way Ms. Hauck writes it, I almost wish I could find what Caroline found...but that's a battle for me and myself to work out. So glad I read this, and can't wait to read more...thanks Ms. Hauck!
Great book with Christian values threaded throughout but not overly done. Well worth the time to read. Caroline is a woman who has helped others throughout her life but has yet to find herself. It's a book that shows the growth of a young woman and how she comes to 'believe in herself' and her affirmation of a loving God.
I just read the book Sweet Caroline by Rachel Hauck, published by Thomas Nelson. I love it! I am not a huge fan of a 1st person narrative, and I am glad I did not let that stop me from reading this book. The story is refreshing, humourous and digs deep into human emotions before you realize it. Yet it does not intangle you in unnecessary drama. Having not read any books by this author before I have walked away wanting to read more. I will certainly be reading this book again.
Sweet Caroline is the first book I've read of Rachel Hauck. It's about a selfless woman who has to make difficult choices about life and love. I read this book in half a day. I just could not put it down, and it's also very easy to read. The ending is also unexpected. If you're into Christian inspirational books, you won't regret it. I'm looking forward to reading Love Starts With Elle.

This was the first book I read from this author. I liked the pace of the book and the fact that the author moves the story forward very quickly. A lot of dialogue helps on this regards.

However I felt the plot was weak and improbable. I didn't understand and the author did not give a reason why one of the main characters did not call the police after receiving a phone call from a dying woman stating the name of the killer. He then decides to go visit the person the woman named only to tell the person that he was named as a murderer by the dying woman. Surprise! Surprise! The "murderer" denies and our main character has to go back home. What he was expecting? The "murderer" would own up for his crimes based on that flimsy story? As I said above there was no reason given why this pastor/music teacher decided to go investigate. A more beliavable action would be to call the police and tell the story.

The other odd thing was that when he leaves town to go talk with the "murderer" he decides to take a woman that is being investigated for her husband's murder. She is not supposed to leave town. But what the heck - let's invite her along for the sake of the trip.

Another inconsistency - when the bad guy decides to get rid of someone he hires a complete strange, a kid from the city where the victim lives. He offers the kid a lot of money if he would kill the victim. Later on the book we see that he has no problems finding not one but two professional hit men. Why he didn't use one of them to kill the victim is beyond me. And the author does not explain that also.

So I felt there were too many inconsistencies and unbelievable things happening. However I liked the reading anyways. I am planning to read the next book in the series when I have time. I am curious to see how the author will manage to involve this pastor/music teacher in another crime.

I loved it! Dramas/mysteries are my favorite. I especially love books that run in a series. You get to know the characters like family. It has a few twist and turns, so that you don't want to put it down.

I thought that the books by this author were really awesome! I thought that the plots and twists were really well thought out. I enjoyed reading these books while passing time at work. This author is a good one and I highly recommend the series to anyone who likes murder mysteries!
This was a very good book. I first read it initially on the author's website. Then I subscibed to the others as he posted them one chapter at a time. I was hooked. It was real down to earth murder mystery. The characters had a real quality about them. I recommend this book highly if you like murder mysteries.
I was introduced to this author and started reading the book in Texas. I didn't get a chance to finish, so I just had to order it and finish it now. It is interesting reading so far, with lots of inter-involved characters. Cann't wait to get it and finish it.

Greg was walking her to the door, when she turned, and moved toward him. Surely she hadn’t intended to get quite that close. She would step back a little. Wouldn’t she? But as he stood paralyzed, she leaned in even closer. Their lips were nearly touching. Her eyes were a shade of blue he’d never seen before.

“Thank you so much, Greg. You don’t know how much it helps, just to have someone like you to talk to.”

“You haven’t told anybody else?”

He needed to move back, yet he didn’t want to offend her. But if one of the church members could see the two of them standing that close in his office, with the door closed—what would they think? God could see. But he could also see Greg’s pure heart. At least he hoped it still looked pure.

“The only other person who knows is my mother. I don’t have any brothers or sisters. And I wouldn’t dare tell anyone at the bank.”

As he felt her warm, sweet breath passing through his nostrils, and deep into his lungs, his pulse began to race. He was not doing anything wrong. Yet he was about to have a heart attack, and fall dead right there on the church carpet. He stumbled back a bit, and reached awkwardly for the doorknob.

Even after she was gone, her fragrance lingered all over his body. How does that happen? He never even touched her. She was gone, yet she was still with him. And would be for some time.

Now he would slip out of the building, covered in sweet-smelling guilt. He just hoped the church secretary wouldn’t get a whiff.
