We were really excited to receive our Meyer Lemon Tree, although in truth we were a little nervous about taking care of it in an apartment, and had tons of questions. We called the nursery several times for guidance, and each time we were so pleased with how friendly, helpful and patient the staff were - we felt as if we were dealing with a neighborhood garden center rather than someone all the way across the country in California. And we love the tree! Thank you so much!

This is a note for note reproduction of some 60's classics. If you like the songs, listen to the originals! To Matthew Sweet: why? There is no reason for this CD. Here are to fine guitarists, Richard Lloyd (formerly of Television)and Sweet and they could not put their own spin on the songs? The Zombies' Care of Cell #44 is really in need of an updated arrangement. The only value is playing this CD along with Joan Jett's [ASIN] The Hit List at a party to make your guests think they fell into an alternate universe. That said, Susanna Hoffs is a fine singer and does justice to the Velvet's Sunday Morning. If one song is worth the price of the CD, it is that song. Then again, Sweet's background vocals on the Fairport Conventions' Who Knows Where The Time Goes? really ruins the song.
You don't have to be old enough to have heard these 40 year old songs in their original releases to enjoy their covers by Hoffs and Sweet.
The harmonies are flawless, and the arrangements are impeccable.

This recording is by the exquisitely talented team of Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs, who obviously love each of the songs and artists from the 1960's and '70's they've chosen to cover. The selection is wonderful if you like slightly obscure or forgotten pop gems (e.g., Alone Again Or by Love, I See The Rain by The Marmalade, and She May Call You Up Tonight by The Left Banke) as well as a few more frequently heard songs. The versions here are uniformly gorgeous, compelling, and heartwarming. Some of them are uncannily like the originals. I have never heard a better recording of cover tunes. Bravo, Ms. Hoffs and Mr. Sweet!
With so many others having already given detailed reviews of this CD, there is no need for me to elaborate here. Instead, I'll just briefly say what I think is most relevant about this disc. Other reviewers have said that this disc is well-recorded. It is not. It is hard and glassy-sounding and tiring, especially when listened to on better stereo equipment, though it is less problematic on portable CD players and headphones. The music itself includes some great songs, though I did not like some of them. For what it is, this music is well enough performed here, but the recording is not very good. I'd rather have my money back.
I have to admit I am a big fan of The Bangles. Matthew Sweet I was never really a fan of. I came across UNDER THE COVERS VOL. 1 by the pair at my local library earlier this week. I had heard about this cd when it first came out. I decided to check it out to hear Matthew and Susanna's versions of a various mix of popular retro pop songs. Matthew and Susanna are fictional couple named Sid and Susie. I guess the record label wasn't too big on the concept behind the cover album therefore put a kibosh on the famous pair going by their fictional names for this project.

Surprisingly I liked this album, or most of it anyways. There were some songs that I wasn't familiar with but it didn't stop me from enjoying the catchy power pop from Matthew and Susanna. I didn't care much for the duo's cover of "Cinnamon Girl". Their vocals didn't match well with the distorted guitars, plus I never liked the song to begin with. I also didn't care much for their version of The Who's "The Kids are Alright". I don't care for the melodies. My personal favorite song is "Sunday Morning". This song perfectly suits Susanna's vocals.

Despite the few songs I didn't care for, I thought Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs put together a well crafted power pop album. Their vocals harmonized well together but I do prefer it when Susanna is harmonizing with her fellow Bangles. All in all this is a good, fun album.
Sid (Matthew Sweet, after his character's name in theAustin Powersband Ming Tea) and Susie (Susanna Hoffs, who joined him and Mike Myers in belting out "BBC" on the soundtrack) are in as fine voice as ever onUnder the Covers, Vol. 1, a 15-song collection of tunes first made famous by the likes of the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Mamas and the Papas, and the Who. And man, were they born to sing this stuff. Both the Bangles and Sweet discographies are derivative--in the best possible sense--of late-'60s pop-rock, and who didn't love the Merry-Go-Round, Grass Roots, Simon&Garfunkel, and Big Star covers Hoffs and company scattered among their originals? Recorded at Sweet's home studio in the Hollywood Hills, the album opens strong with "I See the Rain," a Marmalade song from 1967 that Jimi Hendrix called the year's best British single but was a hit only in the Netherlands. Maybe Sweet's stinging, ringing fretwork (he plays most of the non-percussion instruments on this disc) and Hoffs's throwback vocals will rectify that, nearly 40 years later. The two proceed to nail the Beatles' "And Your Bird Can Sing," one of the high points onRevolver, and score similarly with Fairport Convention's "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?" (Hoffs in full ballad mode), the Stone Poneys' "Different Drum," the Who's "The Kids Are Alright," Love's "Alone Again Or," and a pair of Neil Young numbers, "Cinnamon Girl" and "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere." Some of the selectionsdomiss the mark--Hoffs's smoky-sweet backing vocals seem a little misplaced on Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue," and "The Warmth of the Sun" was probably the wrong Beach Boys track for Sweet to attempt (Brian Wilsonhimselfstrains at those high notes nowadays). But by and large this is a delightful power-pop excursion. Van Dyke Parks's liner notes, keyboards, and string arrangements make it that much better, as do Sweet collaborator Ric Menck's drums, Ed Fotheringham's illustrations, and Henry Diltz's photographs (Hoffs looks as stunning today as she did when laying downAll Over the Place).--Benjamin Lukoff

Watching the movie, you get to hear the original Sweet Home Alabama song throughout. On the recording of the movie, they have another artist singing the song which was a big disappointment. The other songs are Ok but it would have been perfect with original.
I gotta be honest, I ordered this with another cd and I just haven't enjoyed this one as much. I did love the movie, but this cd just didn't do it for me.
If you loved the movie like I did, do not buy the CD. It is advertised as an Original Motion Picture Soundtrack but is absolutely nothing like the movie. Very disappointed.
I love this movie. Finally decided to invest in the soundtrack - how disappointed I was that the music on this cd has nothing to do with the ORIGINAL movie except some of the titles. My library consists of many a soundtrack and I've never heard of not having the movie artists. Based on this I have no reason to ever buy it. Isn't that what the word "original" means.
Apart from the theme song the rest of the songs blend well with the storyline and complement scenes very well.

Much like Reese Witherspoon's transplanted Southern belle character, the songs onSweet Home Alabamahave their hearts and affections rooted deep in the heart of Dixie. Sheryl Crow is almost unrecognizable yodeling and twanging on her version of Hank Williams's country-porch picker, and Shannon McNally adds grace to a smoky, strings-and-blues guitar-strewn number. Uncle Kracker's acoustic-based cut lopes like a cowpoke and Dolly Parton contributes a vintage square-dance stomper, while newcomer Jason Chain's "You Got Me," a standout, is halfway between roots rock and R.E.M.-ish jangle. Surprisingly, noted alt-country leaner Ryan Adams channels the churning, belching riffs and mannerisms of Led Zeppelin, and Jewel chooses to rock out on Lynyrd Skynyrd's classic with distortion and sultry, weathered vocals. Other deviations from country style don't fare as well--Avril Lavigne's "Falling Down" is generic alt-rock lite, the Freestylers' raucous jazz-funk scatting is misplaced, and the Calling's faithful take on "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" is strained rather than lighthearted. In the end, roughly half ofAlabama's tracks qualify as true gems in the rough, although wading through the filler to find them might cause some old-fashioned country-style heartbreak of your own.--Annie Zaleski

Worth the price for the "Asphalt Jungle" alone. Films that have a beginning, middle and end -- lawd be praised. Filled with sentient suspense, devilish dialogue, perspicacious plotting, awesome acting, and passion -- lots of purple passion. Made to entertain, not enlighten (not at least on the surface). A great first collection if you've never experienced Film Noir. A great collection even if you have. Pop some corn. Invite some friends. Close the curtains. Douse the lights. And watch. You'l have a memorable occasion.
This collection really has a great variety, from the classic "Out of the Past" to the almost cult movie "Gun Crazy". The selections are really of
a good variety and the mixture is just right to my thinking. A really good investment for those of us who love the film noir genre.
A must have simply because of Gun Crazy. They're all good but Gun Crazy takes noir and filming to a new level. The scene from the back of the Cadillac while Dall and Cummins are robbing the bank is epic.
The heist was shot entirely in one long take with no one besides the principal actors and people inside the bank aware it was only a film. The actors also improvised their dialogue! Hello! Incredible scene. Watch once without thinking then go back and watch for symbolism and awesome camera angels. One of the best.
It almost seems superfluous to add to the other reviews, but I'm compelled to tell people that if you haven't seen "Out of the Past", then you must. Fantastic characters, snappy dialogue and a hopping plot; see it. There isn't a clunker in this set; they all pop.

Some boxed sets claim to be definitive, but are haphazardly selected. Not this one. Four of the five titles here can legitimately lay claim to being essentials in the film noir canon, and the fifth,The Set-Up, is a terrific boxing picture with a strong noir atmosphere. If you're a fan of noir--or have no idea what it's all about--this collection is a treat.

Of course, none of these movies were made as "film noir." The term was coined later by French critics to describe the moody, anxious feel of postwar American movies, especially the genre that highlighted duplicitous dames and susceptible men lost in the criminal jungle. Indeed, the titleThe Asphalt Jungleconveys the edgy urban arena of these pictures. That film is John Huston's masterly 1950 account of a heist, with Sterling Hayden the disenchanted, noirish hero. Joseph H. Lewis'sGun Crazy(1949) is one of the most supercharged (and sexually perverse) of noir films, with John Dall and Peggy Cummins as young criminals in love.Murder, My Sweet(1944) is a straight adaptation of Raymond Chandler's novelFarewell, My Lovely. (If You Love "A Christmas Story," You're Probably Not Going To Love This...)

Did you enjoy "A Christmas Story"? Then buy this movie! It's equally as warm, charming, and funny. It has several stories inside one movie and many memorable scenes. It'll have you laughing. My only point is they should have kept "Ralphie" as the same actor from "A Christmas Story", however the actor may have been too old to still play Ralphie, as this movie is newer.
I THINK THAT THIS MOVIE IS JUST "OK". TO ME, IT DOESN'T COMPARE AT ALL TO THE QUALITY OF "A CHRISTMAS STORY". I WOULD PROBABLY BUY THE MOVIE TO ADD TO MY DVD COLLECTION, BUT HAD ALL OF THE ORIGINAL ACTORS/ACTRESSES, WITH THEIR TALENTS BEEN IN THIS "SEQUEL", THEN IT PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN DYNAMITE .
While not as clever or as fresh as its predecessor (A Christmas Story), this movie is full of the same quotability and little moments that are guaranteed to make you smirk. Originally entitled "It Runs in the Family", a much better title if you ask me, the movie proves that life is just a crummy tie.

Should I be reviewing the movie or the product itself? Because both the movie and region one DVD inside the case are good.
This is a funny movie. I was skeptical at first. If you like The Christmas Story I think you'll like this one, even though all the characters have changed. This is why I only gave it 4 stars.
"A Christmas Story" is one of my favorite movies. I've seen it countless times and could probably sit down and write out the script from memory. I was excited when I found that another Parker family adventure was out on DVD; and best of all, it featured voice-over by Jean Shepherd, and was directed, once again, by Bob Clark! It might sound good on paper, but as hard as it tries, "My Summer Story" doesn't recapture the charm of the original due to poor casting and a weak story.

My first complaint is that the film relies too heavily on references to the original film. The film begins with a clip from "A Christmas Story," and lines of dialogue are lifted from that film continuously. This is especially prevalent during the first half hour, when all of these references just go to show how weak this sequel is in comparison.

Gripe #2: The casting for this movie is terrible. Ralphie acts nothing like he did in the first movie; Kieran Culkin does a fine job acting, but didn't quite nail the character. The same can be said for Charles Grodin as the Old Man. Randy is almost an afterthought here (he has relatively few lines, and when he does talk, he's always whining or repeating himself). Flick and Schwarts are in the film, but they're almost identical and I couldn't figure out which one was supposed to be which. Scut Farkus is also here, but portrayed by a much younger actor who looks incapable of bullying anyone. Scut has been demoted to the lackey of a new head bully, Lug Ditka, who doesn't really seem to bully anyone aside from verbally abusing them. On the bright side, Ms. Shields is played by the original actress, who provides one of the film's best performances in a scene where she deals with Ralph after he turns in a book report based on a dirty book he found under the Old Man's mattress.

Gripe #3: Jean Shepherd's voice-over is a huge letdown. I figured that even if the rest of the movie was terrible, I could enjoy listening to Jean's unique take on the events. While his narration in the first film was clever and full of sophisticated word-play, the lines he delivers in "My Summer Story" are dumbed down and won't be much of a mystery to anyone over the age of six. Wherein the narration of "A Christmas Story" served as an accompaniment to the film's visuals, the narration here generally doesn't add much to the scenes.

Finally, the plot is passable, but far less entertaining than "A Christmas Story." "My Summer Story" is a collection of short stories, involving an illusive killer toy top, fishing expeditions, a visit to the World's Fair, and a war with the hillbilly Bumpus neighbors. The correlation of these subplots isn't very clear until the end of the film, when the narration provides a heavy-handed moral lesson that draws everything together. Some of these stories are better than others, ranging from the entertaining toy top saga to the embarrassingly bad feud with the Bumpus family.

So there you have it. "My Summer Story" isn't a horrible movie, but fans of "A Christmas Story" will most likely be disappointed. People who haven't watched "A Christmas Story" might find this movie mildly entertaining, but 90 minutes would better be spent watching the original. Definitely not worth the MSRP of $20, I would only recommend this DVD as a rental, or a purchase if you can pick it up for under $10.

After work out, I make a honey tea, putting one table spoon in a warm water mixed with a teaspoon of creatine powder for the fast muscle recovery process. This honey is so wonderful. It tastes great. And it brings out subtle and yet delightful scents of flowers. I can almost imagine wondering through exotic flowers and whatnot in the rain forest. And it's organic so you have a piece of mind knowing that it's pure and good for your body.
I love honey and I often buy expensive gourmet types. I decided to try this one because "rain forest" sounded unusual and also because it is labeled organic. This honey met my best expectations, it has very nice texture and aroma to it. For this price, I couldn't believe it, it does taste like a gourmet honey. I disagree with one of the previous comments. This honey's taste is NOT overbearing at all. Good quality honey should have a distinct flavor (that's what sets apart honeys coming from different areas and flower types) and that easily recognizable flavor is what is valued in each type of honey.
For several years, I've been purchasing local honey from my local Natural Food Coop. Unfortunately, as the years have passed, not only has the price gone up but they have moved away from the unusual and toward more generic "let's please everyone" products. The local honey, star thistle, that I preferred, has a wonderful strong, earthy flavor to it and I've been missing it. Orange blossom honey is just, well, just sweet.

This honey--Honey Tree's Organic Rainforest Honey has that nice strong, earthy, flavor that I have been missing. To me, honey is not just a sweetener but a flavor to add wherever I want. If I want just a sweetener, Splenda is just fine.

Truthfully, I purchased this honey because of the price. I wish that it were available as a Subscribe&Save, but, regardless, I will be purchasing it on a regular basis.
I ordered 2 boxes (to meet the free shipping criteria) of this honey from amazon. The honey is good in taste and quality. I was a bit skeptical about ordering honey online after reading reviews from other users regarding the poor packing and how their honey spilled over. Guess what - now they have an extra seal under the cap of each and every bottle! So even if the cap is broken the honey wont spill. The honey tastes good. Goes perfectly well as a sweetener for my green tea. Also I thought it would be worth mentioning that the bottles do not have any expiry date (best before date) specified on them - this is unlike the highly processed honey you get in the super stores.
This honey is good as long as you use it for something where you want to taste the honey. This does not work in dishes where other flavors are important. This has a very strong taste as compared to some other brands (miller's, Ambrosia) I use. I mostly use honey for sweetening flavored teas and it does not work for me.

I have used Davidoff in the past. Since I have an aversion for mall shopping I went online and discovered Good Life. This product is light and smooth with a mild citrus aroma which is a welcome additon to the rest of my colognes. My wife gives Good Life a thumbs up.
Davidoff Good life is a great scent. It allways makes me feel good when I smell it. I receive a lot of compliments when I wear it. It is mild but noticeable, in a good way. It doesnt overpower. It is a very clean refreshing and masculine fragrance.
I thought the name of this cologne was corny but it was a top 10 scent according to a respected men's magazine. I gave it a try and was glad that I did. The scent is very pleasing sort of citrus lime but masculine and not overpowering. People notice it and almost always say "You smell good" and ask what it is. It makes me happy when I wear it. I am an optimist and guess that might have attracted me also to the name but I think it is a truly great cologne.
I've always loved this perfume.Therefore when I ordered it from amazon, I was very excited. But somehow results aren't very encouraging..there is no sign of it after say 1-2 hrs of using it. I know perfumes work differently with different people but I haven't had any bad experience with me till date.This is the first one which I feel is not long masting at all. I love the fragrance but doesn't stay on for long.

Like all the other Webkinz, this one is too cute! They are very durable.

My 3 year old son LOVES these puzzles! It keeps him busy for a long time, and helps him focus. The puzzles are of good quality, so they will last a long time.
My two and a half year old daughter will sit and put these puzzles together for quite a long time. I only had to help her a few times before she learned how to do it herself. The storage boxes are very convenient and keep everything neat and tidy. The box also acts as a little desk to put the puzzle together. I would buy more of these puzzles.
We have purchased Melissa&Doug puzzles before so we knew they are good quality and our grandchildren would enjoy them. They are well made and the wood box the pieces come makes it easy to take on a trip
or store between visits. These puzzles are great for children just beginning to learn how to piece together
one since their finished size isn't all that big and the pieces are big enough for small hands. I would definitely
recommend them for pre-schoolers.
My daughter is obsessed with puzzles. We bought this for a lot of children as Christmas presents for using in the car. They all love it. It is a great idea. The puzzle is small, and can be kept on the lap. There are four different puzzles inside, with coding on the back, as to which puzzle it belongs to.

My only complaint is the wood box, which holds the pieces, is hard for my two year old to slide open and closed. I am sure she will be able to open it soon, and then will truly be able to play with this without assistance.

In an inviting tale, this book links the concept of maps to slaves running away from plantations. I plan to use it with my students. Important note: discuss which parts of the tale are fictitious (possibly quilt use to create a map) and which parts are factual (underground railroad, using covert means to communicate how toescape, etc.).
How sad that children are being taught fiction as though it was history. Quilts were not made as maps to help slaves escape to Canada; many people risked their lives to help slaves get to Canada and freedom. Those people, both black and white, are the real heroes!
It's very sad that this myth continues.
Quilts, though warm and lovely, don't need to be brought into the equation.

This is one of many books I purchased as a learning tool for the Education Committee of our local quilt guild. It's instrumental in showing our young people some of the history of quilting. It's even fun for "older" people to read.
Deborah Hopkinson's use of dialogue in this story is what really recommends it to be read aloud. The characters come through the story so well through their words. They usually don't come right out and SAY anything, but instead communicate vital information in a round-about sort of way. They pretend not to have a care in the world, all the while desperately plotting against their captors.

This is book would be a great tool for opening up a discussion about why people say one thing when they really mean something else entirely. Also, this book is great for discussing ways of "escaping" authority and subverting roles of apparent compliance.
Sweet Clara deserves a place on the bookshelves of young revolutionaries worldwide.
While Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt is a wonderful work of fiction, it should be considered just that.
While the horror of slavery are age appropriately described so a child can relate...poor Clara is taken from her mother...the story perpetuates a myth...that quilts were used to assist slaves to freedom.
I urge teachers not to use this book in their classrooms prior to further research. Neither Quilt Historians nor African American Studies Historians have been able to connect quilts to the UGRR, and to perpetuate the myth is a disservice to our children and the African American People.
