(Growth Chart...A Big Hit!)
(Looks great) I Loooove this chart. I didn't expect it to be this nice. Seems durable... and I may even use it for my next child. Definitely worth the money. Buy it! Like some other reviewers, I was surprised by how nice this growth chart is. I thought it would just be laminated paper with a ribbon attached. Oh no. It's on sturdy board of some kind with fabric connecting each piece and has a ribbon for hanging. The illustrations are beautiful and there are so many details to explore. I'm going to get one for our baby who is coming soon. i love this chart! excellent value for the price.
the theme is great for my son, and it's really colorful with nice detail. the ribbon is already attached for easy hanging. and i also like that i can store it in the keepsake box after he's outgrown it.
i highly recommend this, or any of the growth charts from this line. i also have the flower-themed one for my daughter and love it just as much! This is a very nice growth chart, which will make a beautiful keepsake for my daughter as she grows up, the illustrations are cute and it folds into a notebook size for storage. This growth chart was designed by illustrator Melissa Sweet, and depicts a fairy tale-like scene in delicate watercolor. As your child shoots up like a beanpole, commemorate birthdays and other milestones with matching stickers of elves and other tiny creatures. The chart is printed on sturdy board and the stickers peel off easily once applied (so you can keep them on the back where they won't be lost). (Wish there was more birthday scenes)
(Baby loves it and so does dad)
(What kid doesn't love Elmo?)
(My 2 year old son loves Elmo's World!) Great for kids who are Elmo crazy. Buy it before the birthday to get a little one ramped up for the festivities. Only giving it 4 stars because there is not that much birthday related scenes. I bought it because my son is obsessed with birthdays - they don't even sing the traditional Happy Birthday Song!! But my son still looooooves this DVD and entertains him greatly. Very fun DVD - even with the little birthday scenes. Elmo is very funny. Baby loves it and I have to say that Elmo character makes some comments and jokes that only an adult would understand. I find him very entertaining compared to Barney and Tellitubies. I would pick watching Elmo anyday over the other children DVDs. Of course my son loves this video!! He LOVES Elmo. My only complaint is that he gets upset after watching it because it's not his birthday, so I don't have cake with candles to offer him. I think some of these parents that wrote these previous reviews need to lighten up! Disappointed because a Elmo video did not give you any good ideas on planning a birthday party??? (Did you also get the one on hair to see if you could get some ideas on a new hairstyle?) The bottom line is Elmo is adorable and my son LOVES these videos and wants to watch them again and again. ...and he is learning about all kinds of things throughout the series. YES! it is the same Elmo's World that we have all seen on Sesame St., that is why it is titled "Elmo's World"!! Why are you even surprised? I recommend these videos for TODDLERS highly. Someone mentioned that they find Mr. Noodle annoying. He is trying to entertain your child, not you! ... as Elmo would say "silly parent!" Movie DVD While it's true that Elmo's World is one that most 2- to 5-year-olds wouldn't mind waking up to any day of the week,Birthdays, Games&Moremakes plain that, as far as preschool meccas go, this is as good as it gets. Here, the furry little red guy gets the festivities under way watching real, live kid friends festoon pretty packages with colorful bows (his way of answering the endlessly curious Dorothy's question about how to wrap a present) before tuning into the Birthday Channel for a whirlwind trip to Mexico, where ebullient kids whack away at a piñata, and Israel, where a dizzy gang dips to the ground, doing its best to put on hats sans hands. After a chat with a talking birthday cake, it's game time. A chubby baby gets his toes tweaked in a round of "This Little Piggy"; Ernie and his ducky stop by via e-mail to demonstrate hide-and-go-squeak; and a couple of kids crack Elmo up with their search for Thumbkin, first in English, then in Spanish. The games give way, in a third segment, to a pack of pets. Mr. Noodle the lovable numbskull tries to play fetch with a fish; Elmo's tricky drawer trots out a parade of lettuce, a tiger, and a Telly monster, hoping for some help with the question "What can be a pet and what can't?"; and friend Alisa shows off Fluffy, her cat, and dog Spike. Taken together,Birthdays, Games&Moreis 60 minutes of playful, furry fun destined to be dusted off for repeat watchings by all wannabe Elmo's World inhabitants.--Tammy La Gorce Rerations < Elmo's World - Birthdays, Games&More >

(Beginnings - Good DVD Overall)
(Great for kids who love to dance)
(Not for me)
(Love It!) My 18-month-old daughter loves this DVD! She loves to dance along to the songs, and she loves to sing these songs. All day she'll prompt me to sing with her "ma ma mommy", and she loves the "bump baby" song, too. The length is perfect for a toddler's attention span (30 minutes). The DVD is only about 5 songs long. All the songs have motions that are interactive with the kids. I only gave it four stars because two of the songs are about taking naps (which I did not think fit in an active video). Also the narrator gets a little preachy. I could have done without the lecture on how music and songs help children learn, etc. It just did not fit. That said, my 16 month old likes the songs and dances along. This is my 23-month-old's absolute favorite movie. He anticipates each scene and even tries to play along on our piano (well, bang along anyway). He bounces and dances with the characters. Definitely worth buying - we could play it every day and he'd still adore it. My son didn't care too much for it&the high pitched, squeaky voices were too much for me. My daughter loves this DVD! Since we are from Hawaii the twinkle twinkle little star song in Hawaiian is fabulous! This is a must have for children of all ages, my daughter is only 12wks but she just loves the music and of course Elmo. (Woody does it again)
(Sweet and Lowdown)
(Sweet and Lowdown)
(Luke Darlison) The sound track to "Sweet and Lowdown" has all the jaunty originality of the Woody Allen movie, but would easily stand on its own as a charming and accessible tribute to gypsy guitar genius Django Reinhardt and the club music of the 30s. The CD offers a superb rendition of Duke Ellington's "Caravan": disciplined, moody, with a repetitive motif that stays with you. Arranger and conductor Dick Hyman deserves the credit for this compilation of familiar themes played in fresh ways, driven in many cases by a jazz guitar lead. Note that the CD does not contain the music of Reinhardt himself, nor a rendition of his signature tune "Nuages," but you'll find yourself playing this sophisticated, upbeat collection at dinner parties, evenings over a good book, or whenever you need a little more cheer in your life. Woody Allen has a perchance for capturing the ridiculous as normality, none more than in Sweet and lowdown. Can you image a world class swing guitarist whose greatest pleasures are shooting rats at the local tip and train watching. He portrays himself as the greatest swing guitarist in the world, except for this guy in Paris, unfortunately every time he comes in contact with this guy, (Django Rheinhardt}, he faints. He finds a love interest in a mute girl, who is perfectly fitted to be the love of his life and eventually blows it. there are some wonderful scenes as people tell thier versions of particular periods of his life, mostly conficting. In the end basically every-one gets what they deserve, but the best part of this film is its sound track. Any-one who loves swing will warm to this movie and like me will probably buy the sound track. The album wwas quite good and well preformed. However I was looking for an album by the artist Emmet Ray that was portrayed in the movie. Had to own it after seeing the movie - fabulous! Go Django, go! To Eric Verworst, You won't be able to find any original pieces from Emmet Ray because he is a fictional character. Although Woody Allen has been using jazz from the '20s and '30s on his soundtracks sinceSleeper,Sweet and Lowdownis his first movie featuring the musicians of the period. The story is about Emmett Ray, who is a brilliant guitarist but is always being unfavorably compared to Django Reinhardt. Allen hired the guitarist Howard Alden and the Dick Hyman Group to play the music of Ray and his band, and they have done an excellent job of recreating the small band swing of the '30s. Alden has assimilated the music of such guitarists as Eddie Lang, Karl Kress, and Django to create a guitar style that is unique yet also sounds thoroughly authentic. He is the Zelig of guitar players. This music has all of the excitement of '30s jazz with none of the stodginess that sometimes plagues other jazz revivalists.--Michael Simmons Rerations < Sweet and Lowdown: Music from the Motion Picture >

customer 's review (THE WHEELS OF A CINEMA REVOLUTION BEGINNING TO CHURN.)
(Griffith begins the feature film)
(Two Important Early Griffith Films)
(Silent but good!)
(Exctatic, expressive and emotion work of art) D.W. Griffith fuses Thomas Bailey Aldrich's long poem of Judith's story with its basis in the Apocrypha to derive this somewhat austere and powerful film of the widow's noble sacrifice to save her besieged city and its inhabitants from an invading Assyrian army, led by Holofernes. With JUDITH as Griffith's first feature length effort, he turns away from the commercial needs of the Biograph Company, the management of which desires to maintain its policy of making only one and two reelers, and his expenditure of $36000 is double the amount budgeted, reflecting his expanded use of sets and extras and providing the requisite exercise in preparation for his next major work: BIRTH OF A NATION, made as a free agent. Eighteen year old Blanche Sweet's performance is striking as she utilizes all of her wide range of expressivity, uncommon in one so young, to mirror the emotions of a woman who is physically attracted to a man, Henry Walthall as Holofernes, toward whom her only possible final act will be his death by her hand, as depicted in many a well-known painting. The supporting cast serves the sparsely titled production well, with emotional performances from Mae Marsh and Robert Harron as endangered lovers, and among the many bit players who animate the work may be seen Lionel Barrymore, Harry Carey, Antonio Moreno and Lillian and Dorothy Gish as victims of the invaders. This version is the four reeler rather than the one of six reels released later and is Griffith's answer to the full-length epics which were being imported from Europe; its release was delayed a year by Biograph to ensure that the director had left its employ, but this brought scant gain to the company: Biograph was soon defunct, while Griffith's star was rising.
Judith of Bethulia is a very interesting biblical epic, starring several of Griffith's stable of actors at Biograph, such as Blanche Sweet (in the title role), Henry B. Walthall (as Holofernes) and Lillian Gish (as a woman with a baby). The scenes within the city are shot extremely well, with appropriate period detail.
Home, Sweet Home is a truly lovely film, especially when you see it, as I did, with live music and two singers! Walthall and Gish excel as composer John Howard Payne and his faithful sweetheart. Robert Harron and Mae Marsh, in another section of the film, are touching and amusing as young lovers from very different backgrounds. Jack Pickford (Mary's brother) and Donald Crisp appear in yet another section of the film. The four stories are very different, bound together by the song "Home, Sweet Home". Griffith took huge creative license in his portrayal of Payne, showing him as a dissolute, hard-living lout, whereas the real Payne's only major problem was his inability to handle money. Walthall is exceptional as Payne, and he makes you believe his character completely. Anyone delving just slightly into the history of film-making will soon come upon the name of D.W. Griffith, either in connection with his most famous epics such as"The Birth of a Nation"and"Intolerance", or how he pioneered film-making in the early years of motion pictures. This tape features two of his feature films from 1913 and 1914, and they would certainly be of interest to anyone following the stages of Griffith's work, or simply in the development of film-making generally. Although from the same period, these two films are totally different:"Judith of Bethulia"was inspired by spectacular Italian epics popular at that time (such as"Cabiria"and"Last Days of Pompeii"for example) and was based on a stage play, and the expenses incurred for such a production cost Griffith his job with the Biograph Company. Despite this, the film was a success, with its artistic expression, dramatic acting, fascinating costumes and interesting sets. The story is set in Bible times and depicts the attempted capture by the Assyrians of the walled city of Bethulia, but before the inhabitants starve to death in their beleaguered city, Judith is inspired with a plan to rescue her people. I also found the music - organ by Gaylord Carter - to be especially good and well-suited to each scene. The seocnd film,"Home Sweet Home"was written and directed by DW Griffith, and is a forerunner to"Intolerance"a few years later, having four different stories with the same theme woven throughout. Unlike"Intolerance", however, these four stories are complete and are shown one after the other, although there is an interesting epilogue that finishes the first story, and that unites all four stories under the same banner, namely the moral quest to find happiness in the home, the family unit, be it in marriage or between brothers. In contrast to"Judith of Bethulia", this is a fast-paced film with more intertitles and various messages to think about. I enjoyed both films very much and recommend them to anyone interested in good quality early films. "Judith of Bethulia"is the first (and only, up to this point in time) drama that I have seen on a deuterocanonical book in the Bible. The only other film that I can think of is the animated one called"Maccabees: The Story of Hannukah,"which I have not yet seen. (This is really a 1913 production. It is the other included drama, which is titled"Home Sweet Home,"that was completed in 1914.) The acting was rather well done and the Biblical messages were in tact although the script was not completely accurate to the Bible. I strongly encourage people to see a Biblical production like this for a change.I also appreciated the ending of"Home Sweet Home." I think it's tragic that this incredible form of art is dead (Thanks a lot, Jolsen...). I watched this in my film history class (the silent era) and it really blew me away. Its amazing how boring realistic acting can be. This film made me realise that the reason endings in todays movies are usually their ultimate ruin is the freakin dialogue! If you want good dialogue, read a book. If you want great acting, well aside from one mediocre one performance by the hero soldier, watch a good silent film like this one. It's all physical acting, which I for one love. The only thing that keeps this from a five star rating is the all too tedious battle scenes. Well it's a war film essentially. Yeah I know it was really fascinating to see people move on screen back then but thats the only part thats really dated. sometimes its downright boring. But Lilian Gish really comes through and makes you wonder why actors aren't very good at conveying emotions believably anymore. To get a bit philosophical, I tend to think it's because people are so plagued by the insecurities generated by television that they need overwhelming self-confidence to convince us that they can act at all well. But that's my opinion. As far as this goes...real good stuff! Rerations < Home Sweet Home&Judith of Bethulia [VHS] >

(An awesome movie......with a few drawbacks)
(It was original and well made)
(Bi-Lingual Fan)
(Great for Bonding) My parents sent my two daughters (3 and 2) Fairytopia and they seem to really enjoy it. It has fairies, Barbie, and bright colors. However, those three things alone don't make a good movie. As an adult watching, I was disappointed. The animation is lacking as well as the script, character voices, and overall sincerity of the movie. I do like the messages sent throughout the movie, but it's still unbearable to sit through. We have Swan Lake as well and hope it's better than this one. I'd skip buying this one unless you enjoy collecting Barbie. I like this movie. It's got more danger in it than some of the newest Barbie movies, and I like that. Elina and her friends are chased by firebirds and fungus. Elina has to get past guards and other obstacles. It has a lot of self sacrifice and and doing things for those you care about. There is some humor and the animation is beautiful. (I recall reading one interview that said the animation looked half-done. Their favorite Barbie movie is "the Nutcracker", in which the story is absolutely beautiful but the animation is pathetic!) However, there's a couple of things I didn't like. 1: Elina and Nalu's little... 'relationship'. It's so ridiculous! They hold hands as he pulls her through the water and they look all dove-eyed into each other's faces and smile and then when they have to leave, Nalu grabs her hand and says, "Be safe. I hope we meet again." He swims off and leaves Elina smiling and looking fondly in his direction. And I'm like, "What?!?!?!?" In Mermaidia, he's in love with Nori! Is it just me, or is this Prince Nalu a womanizer???? 2:The two happy trolls who rhyme all the time bug me. They're a major marketing ploy. They're irritating and there because they'll be another thing to sell. And they are ugly, big-eyelashed dwarfs who act all sweet and innocent and smile one-toothed simles. They get on Elina's nerves a little, but not enough. Not the way they would in real life. Overall, though, I really like this movie. Once I was past the totally random Prince Nalu part, this was an awesome movie and I loved it. I normally like musicals but this wasn't one. However I did enjoy it. It is the first movie of a mini series. I believe there is four movies. I liked this one, the second, and the third one but hated the fourth movie. This was original story and a good one. I liked the characters, the acting, and the animation was top notch. They did an excellent job making this movie. I would suggest it for individuals who like fairys and Barbie.
Kristy Star Sisk The reason I've decided to review this movie is because I wanted to offer a little advice to those of you who are searching on-line. I gave Barbie Fairytopia 5 stars for 3 reasons.
First it comes in both English&Spanish audio versions. This is a rare feature with children's titles, but a must have for our family. If any of you are thinking about teaching your child a second language, watching cartoons is the easiest way for them to pick it up. My daughter understands more Spanish then I've ever spoken at home because of these "Bonus" language tracks included.
Second, it is an actual movie with total run time of 70 minutes. This is wonderful for those parents who might need a few minutes of peace and quiet every now&then. I hate buying a feature and it turns out to be 4-30 minute TV episodes, which actually translates to be 4-23 minute episodes. My daughter loses interest after the first episode and never fully returns to enjoy the entire thing. This feature offers a warm story line based on bravery, loveable characters, and good quality graphics.
And finally, I loved the price. I bought it on Amazon.com for under $10 which now a days is just as rare as Spanish. I always regret paying full price of $19.99 for a brand new DVD only to find my 2 year-old using the new DVD as her new play toy. It's kind of hard to take away baby's new Barbie movie from baby or teach them why scratches are bad for playability. (I hope you parents out there understand what I'm trying to say.) In conclusion, this is a great movie for a great price. My daughter (5 years old) loves this series of videos. We watch them together and it is great for bonding and communicating. BARBIE STARS AS ELINA IN HER FIRST EVER FAIRYTOPIA MOVIE. COME JOIN ELINA AND DISCOVER A MAGICAL NEW LAND FILLED WITH FAIRIES, FLOWERS AND ENCHANTING ADVENTURES. Bravery, commitment to friendship, and personal sacrifice empower the weak and give rise to unlikely heroes in the magical world ofFairytopia. Elina (played by Barbie) is a wingless fairy who is mercilessly teased by a trio of spiteful fairies. Luckily for Elina, Dandelion (a fellow fairy) and Bibble (a cute little puffball) are good, supportive friends. When the evil Laverna plots to take over Fairytopia and spreads a potion that causes an epidemic of flying sickness in Fairytopia, Elina is the only fairy not overcome with the illness. It's up to Elina, Bibble, and new friend Hue to find a way to defeat Laverna and save Fairytopia from ruin. While the brightly colored animation ofFairytopiais enticing and the messages of friendship and sacrifice wholesome, the story line and characters are shallow and predictable. Worse yet, the colloquial dialogue and prepubescent attitude of many of the characters is downright annoying. While young Barbie fans will doubtless enjoyFairytopia,Barbie Princess and the Pauper,Barbie Nutcracker, andBarbie Swan Lakeoffer richer story lines with better developed and more likeable characters. On a technical note, the DVD played fine on three test DVD players (Sony and Panasonic). (Ages 3 to 9)--Tami Horiuchi Rerations < Barbie Fairytopia >

(GREAT!) Very please with purchase and the seller. My item arrived way before the estimated date. Will do business with again. Thank you My 19-month-old loves Elmo, and this is another great video. There are a couple of slow parts, during the drawing section, and I'm a little disappointed that the singing portion is duplicated in another Elmo video we have, but other than that, it's kept his interest. My grandson likes it-not quite as much as "The Best of Elmo", but watches most of it. Elmo's World is a really cute DVD. My little brother and sister love it! I have heard the songs so many times I sing them in my head when I'm not even watching it. If you have little kids you must buy Elmo's World! If your kids are a little older like me the craft DVD called Crafty Fun will be great for them. My son loves this dvd! It's hard to find something that will grab their attention, and still be a good learning experience. This is a great dvd for your toddler. (Married with Children - Season One)
(Married with Children First season)
(Awesome!)
(Comedy must have) Married with Children - The Complete First Season is short because the show was a mid-season replacement. Season 1 is pretty good but not as funny as seasons 2 and 3. Kelly Bundy played brilliantly by Christina Applegate is more edgier in the first season, she didn't become a bimbo until the later seasons. Katey Sagel is the scene stealer, she owns the set. Good start but got better with age, check it out! This show isn't for everyone, but I find it very funny. In a way, I can identify with the situations shown in the program. I always enjoy a good comedy, this first season different from later years, still makes me laugh. The characters work well together and keep you laughing for hours. I will continue to watch the Married with Childred DVD's when ever I need a good laugh. I plan to buy all seasons as they are released, bob Anyone who is a die hard Married with Children fan definitely has to get this :) I know of no person who isn't amused by the Bundy family. Great addition to the DVD collection WhenMarried... with Childrendebuted on Fox TV on April 5, 1987 (followed byThe Tracey Ullman Showa half-hour later), the grungy sitcom became an instant flagship for Rupert Murdoch's upstart network. The program's much-publicized working title,Not the Cosbys(a dismissive reference to the cheerful vitality of Bill Cosby's hugely popular television clan on NBC'sThe Cosby Show) was a dead giveaway.Married... with Childrenwas going to be a trashier, raunchier, and far more cynical view of the American nuclear family. But it turned out the series actually fell into other caustic-domestic entertainment traditions, notably the Don Ameche and Frances Langford radio comedy series from the 1940s,The Bickersons, and Jackie Gleason's TV classic,The Honeymooners. The jokes were savage, key relationships were marked by ennui and indifference, and the Bundy family name couldn't help but make one think of America's most notorious, real-life serial killer at the time. Yet the show had a hint of Golden Age Hollywood gloss, a retro-screwball feel that one could detect in the snappy verbal warfare between husband Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) and wife Peggy (Katey Sagal). The characters, and the show, eschewed sentimentality, which certainly opened the floodgates to comic cynicism but also kept a door ajar for moments of genuine sweetness. A decade later, however, by the time Fox cancelled the increasingly expensive series,Married... with Children's first-season tone would be considerably different, replaced by a stronger reliance on running jokes and character stereotypes, particularly concerning Bundy children Kelly (Christina Applegate) and Bud (David Faustino). That evolution makes watchingMarried... with Children's first 13 episodes, once again, quite instructive. Those programs are all on this two-disc set, including the startling pilot, in which Al and Peggy lock horns over marital politics and enlist naive new neighbors Steve (David Garrison) and Marcy (Amanda Bearse) in a battle of the sexes. There's also the classic "Whose Room Is It, Anyway," concerning the Bundys' competition to connive Steve and Marcy into building a recreation room, and "Thinnergy," a very funny piece about a diet that supposedly boosts sexual interest.--Tom Keogh Movie DVD Rerations < Married with Children - The Complete First Season >

(great gluten/casein free cookies)
(Terrible value, decent cookie.) This are very tasty and chocolaty. Being on an elimination diet for my nursing baby can be hard, products like this make it so much easier! To be able to eat a cookie when there are so many things I can't eat is beyond wonderful. These cookies are a really great alternative for people who can't have the common allergens. The texture of the cookies are alittle grainy, but it has a good chocolate flavor. For a product with nothing we're allergic to, they sure made it taste great! Thank you! This is a great cookie for those of us that cannot eat gluten or casein. I highly recommend them as well as the other flavors. But this double chocolate is my favorite. Thank you Enjoy Life for making some great products for us gluten/casein free girls. For the size of the box, the amount of product you get is absolutely ridiculous. It's 12 very tiny cookies. The cookies taste decent, but it's a poor value, and terribly inefficient packaging to boot. Soft baked. No trans fat, no artificial anything! Nut and gluten free; made in a dedicated bakery. Free of all common allergens. GF, Vegan. Enjoy Life was inspired by Bert's mom, Joy, who baked her way back to health after eliminating gluten and other common allergens from her diet. We believe everyone has the right to enjoy the chewiness of a soft-baked cookie, that's why we've made this one without the wheat, eggs or nuts. Allergen free. This product is formulated to be gluten-free and free of the 8 most common allergens. Ingredients have been additionally tested for gluten and peanut protein. This product contains no: wheat, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish, shellfish. Also made without other common triggers of intolerance: corn, potato, sulfites, sesame and casein. (Great Taste, Great Bargain!)
(Cashew Bars)
(Tasty Sweet and Salty) Better than the sweet taste only bars. Normally I eat two of them for breakfast. I also bring them to my hiking trips. They taste better than the energy bars. These are a good snack item. If you enjoy salt&a sweet taste all at the same time these are just right. These sweet and salty nut bars are a great healthy snack and I got an awesome price. I highly recommend them. These bars were so tasty that all my coworkers fell in love with them. They went out and bought some for themselves but didn't bother to share. Next time I order I'll keep them at home instead of at work. This product is a bit on the sweet side, but does the trick if you are looking for a sweet snack that is not a million calories and fat. Nature Valley Sweet&Salty Cashew Granola Bars offer a perfect balance of savory nuts and sweet granola. Each bar is rich with all-natural ingredients, bursting with nuts, and dipped in a creamy cashew-butter coating. customer 's review (Awesome Sauce)
(Enough with the seeds!!!!)
(Delicious and versatile.)
(Yummy.. but..)
(Best sauce ever.) This sauce is excellent. Put it on cream cheese, serve with crackers and you'll be deemed the gourmet of the party! I am a chipotle FANATIC and overly picky about what I would consider "chipotle." It seems lately that every food product has a "chipotle" flavor and most don't even come close to replicating the flavor. I have had chipotle cheese, chipotle chocolate, potato chips, crackers, sauces, salsas, rubs, mayos, etc. and very few actually taste like chipotle or it is too subtle.
Chipotle is often paired with fruit in sauces and salsas with mango and raspberry being the most common. These usually lose the chipotle kick and rarely can the flavor of the chili be tasted. The surprise with Fischer&Wieser Razzpotle Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce is that it actually has a pretty decent chipotle flavor and the chili holds its own in this sauce. The flavor deserves 5 stars alone. Truly fabulous. The raspberry really mellows out the spice so don't expect anything too spicy but the smoky flavor is at the forefront.
What really kills this great flavor for me is the abundance of seeds. I really am not a seed person (I avoid smoothies with seeds, jams with seeds, etc.) Seeds on fresh fruits are tolerable as they aren't as tough and hard. Unfortunately this product's seeds are a-plenty and extremely hard. If I could find a way to strain it (seems like more effort that I want to deal with though) this would be a five star product.
If you can hang with the seeds, it is amazing. I used it on chicken on the grill and in the pan and both were gobbled up! (Toothpicks, floss, brushing and water came shortly after).
Am curious how it would do in a slow cooker... anyone? I'm not normally a big fan of raspberries, but I thought I'd give this sauce a try. I was pleasantly surprised at what I found. This combines the natural sweetness and tanginess of raspberries with the smoke and spiciness of chipotle peppers, and achieves an excellent balance of flavors. The consistency is a bit on the thick side, loaded with chunks of real berries.
It's also very versatile, with a wide range of potential uses. For my own part, I used it as a marinade and grilling sauce for grilled chicken breast, which was placed atop a fresh garden salad. For the dressing, I followed the suggestion on the packaging to mix this sauce one-to-one with balsamic vinaigrette. The result was a perfect complement to the grilled chicken. I'm looking forward to trying some other uses as well.
The only downside, which some other reviewers have noted, is the presence of seeds in the sauce. This is more or less inevitable with any raspberry based sauce, particularly one like this that is not strained to remove the berry pulp. However, I found this only moderately distracting and a small inconvenience for an otherwise excellent product. Well done! Now, the actual sauce is quite good.. sweet, but a little spicy. The reason for the 4-star - I just can't come up with many things to use this in..so it sits in my refrigerator. It is good on chicken - you pour it over the chicken and bake it - but it's a little too spicy for my children, so it's only good for me.
So pretty good flavor (not outstanding IMO), but that's where it ends. Maybe I'm just not creative? We love this Chipotle sauce over meatballs, over chicken or steak. It does not take alot but the flavor is wonderful. Everyone asks how I fix my meatballs for a cocktail party..........well my secret comes in a bottle of F and W Razzpotle...Love it Love it. RazzPotle. In 1996, Fischer&Wieser created The Original Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce. This smokey, sweet and spicy concoction has garnered international acclaim, introduced our company to the culinary world and provided a true pantry essential to legions of loyal followers. Our No. 1 selling item, The Original Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce has become so popular that many attempted to duplicate it, but you just shouldn't mess with a good thing--this is the Original. Try it as an accompaniment with any meat, fish, or fowl. It's also great right out of the jar poured over soft cheese with crackers or mixed with vinegar and olive oil for a salad dressing. Its uses are many, but there is only one original. Enjoy! No preservatives added. Rerations < Fischer&Wieser Razzpotle Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce, 20-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) >

customer 's review (Cute Set -- But the Quality is not the best) When I saw this item on Amazon, I thought how very cute it was. It is cute but the quality of most of the items in the set leaves a lot to be desired. It is very overpriced for the quality. One of the shoes fell apart about five minutes after our granddaughter (age 4) wore it -- the little tutu began losing the sequin flowers about two days after receiving it. Very disappointing to realize that I overpaid for this set. I contacted Amazon and they said they are Sorry -- so am I!!! customer 's review (Not good for Trick or Treaters) So, Oct 31st snuck up on me. I told my friend, Todd Mchenry, to pick up some candy so we could give it out to trick or treaters, and he forgot. We were sitting at his moms house in Owensville, and I asked him about the candy, and he went on some long-winded story about how he was taping himself for that silky smooth lineless crotch, and my mind sort of wandered off. I came back when he started talking about how he lost one of his balls in a walnut shelling accident, and I asked him what it had to do with anything? I asked him if he had gotten candy, and he said no. But then he said not to worry about it.
So on halloween, I am watching 2 and a half men, and people are knocking at the door. I walk out and see Todd handing out candy g-strings to children. I slam the door and start yelling at him. He says "At least I hadn't worn any of the ones I gave out". Then I notice the multi-colored spots on his jeans. I ask him what is going on and he says "It's hot for halloween and I'm sweating". Then the police show up.
Moral of the story. There is never a good reason to wear anything that changes the color of your crotch, and especially not to hand them out on halloween. The Prepared Pantry
customer 's review (The Best Treat)
(Wonderful Bread)
(Great Apple Cinnamon Bread)
(Very Good) The bread mixes I received are both Blue Ribbon Products in my book. My friends all raved about them. Awsome is the word to describe all your products. Thank you sooooo much!!!!!!!!!!! The Prepared Pantry makes the best bread in the country. A beginner can do this and not mess it up. Recipes for bread machines but I don't use one. I use my mixer and then if I choose I knead it. Makes your house smell wonderful. The only measuring is the water. They give specific instructions and you cannot fail. Easiest enough I usually make five different loaves a day. You can do that in less than an hour. They have great dried fruits just to snack on but they are supposed to go into the bread. This knobby Apple you could smell out to the street. They have all the supplies if you choose to make from scratch but why would you when this is so good and easy? You can use a bread machine but it's actually easier to do it with a mixer and let it rise all over the house. Just add butter, water or oil. They will help you with anything. I can not say one single bad thing about these people or their product. Price is good, product is better. Try just this one and you will be hooked, if not try the Herb focacchia. If that doesn't hook you, then you really don't like bread. I've never liked bread from a wrapper but this I eat every day. This is one of the best bread machine mixes that I have ever tried. Super quick delivery service with a great product. Can't beat that. An excellent bread maker product. Very tasty. We add some raisins and vanilla to enhance it. Makes fantastic toast. "Enjoy the perfect marriage of apples and cinnamon in this not-too-sweet bread. We found these great apples in California. They are soft and flavorful and more like fresh apples. So we set out to make apple cinnamon bread. We used lots of apples, our best cinnamon, and a sweet apple flavor for the dough. The result was very good but we wanted something more . . . maybe a little lemon zest. So we added just a touch of natural lemon. We thought the result was spectacular so we ran it by our testers. ""Very good . . . but maybe just a little more apple"" some said. So we added a touch more apple. ""Perfect."" We called it Knobby Apple Cinnamon Bread because the chunks of apple left little knobs across the top of the bread. We want you to try this bread. If you like apples and cinnamon, you won't want to miss this bread. Each package contains four mixes. Each mix makes a 1 1/2 pound-sized loaf. (Butter is not included.) customer 's review (Yummy!) This is a really terrific spread/relish/jam. Sweet, but not really sweet. Has a bit of bite from the spices. We've mostly used it on bread, but it's also good with roast meats. Pretty intense as it's not thinned out with water or other fillers, so a little goes farther than you might think. The following is from the label, with oddities of spelling, punctuation, and formatting retained: "Ingredients: Fruits (apples, pears, oranges, cherries) In variable proportion, sugar, wine, lemmon juice, pectin, spice, mustard flavour. Preservative free, coloring free, No genetically modifield products." We are proud to import mostarde from the Fieschi family, artisan producers of northern Italy's most traditional pantry essentials since 1867.An unusual and highly addictive flavor sensation, this spicy condiment is typically drizzled over gorgonzola, ricotta and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese or paired alongside ham, chicken or turkey. (Out of 30 toys I've bought this is her FAVORITE)
(My son had no interest in this.)
(Cute toy for older babies)
(Great toy for under 1 year!!!) My son got this when he was 4 months old and loved it!!! he is now 9 months and he still plays with it. I also have a 4 year old that has made up games to play with the little critters so it's getting plenty of use here. The bugs are genius. The little legs, crackle fabric on wings, the circular shape of some of them to teach them to hold something round (harder) everything makes them perfect&have been her favorite for 2 months (she's 5 1/2 months now). Not sure how long they'll hold her interest but they are invaluable to me now&I have gotten her soooo many toys&these are always her favorite. I purchased this toy as one of many to take on a long plane trip. My son was 10 months at the time and I thought he'd love taking them out and putting them back into the bug container. Not so much. While the toy is super cute and very durable, it has just sat for the last year. He has no interest in it whatsoever. I bought this toy for my son who turned 7 months on Christmas. He still shows absolutely no interest in it. My best friend's little girl was a year old at the time and would grab the bugs and toss them to the side, so she was pretty unimpressed. Now she is almost 14 months and she can spend hours pulling the bugs out of the jug and putting them back in. She LOVES the bug jug now! The bugs are really cute (the spider still creeps me out even plushy and smiling) and they have a variety of textures. I would recommend this toy for babies over a year old. My son is 8 months now and all he wants to do is chew on the bugs and soak them with spit. I haven't been giving them to him to play with because I don't want him to soak them with drool to where I have to wash them. I'm not sure they would survive the wash and I don't want to test it before he's even old enough to appreciate the toy. I gave this toy to my 14 month nephew. It quickly became his favorite toy. It is fun, plastic free, and educational. A+ in my book. Good toys for this age group are hard to come by. Colorful toy features four bug buddies in a jug with a mesh-top lid. Multi-textured toy rattles, jingles, squeaks and crinkles in little hands, and is made with ultra-soft materials. Helps develop fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination while stimulating tactile senses in delightful ways. Self-storing and great for travel. Measures 12" x 8". (Great set!)
(Castle Worthy of your little Princess)
(The Royal M&D family!)
(Nice set, great value, Painted faces off in color) The playset so far has held up to my 2 year old grand daughter. She enjoys playing with it. I felt it was well made and worth the money. Goes well with the play castle I also purchased. I think that my daughter likes the horses the most. I would have preferred a little more detail in the characters faces...this is more for a toddler. Santa brought this castle for my 4 yo daughter this Christmas and she loves it. I love it too because while it offers lots of little nooks to place dolls or dragons or what have you, it folds up leaving a small footprint.
The construction quality of the castle is very good all though I found a rough edge in one of the doorways. The little room next to the dungeon is really hard to get even small hands into.
I purchased the Melissa and Doug dolls that complement the castle and have been very impressed with them as well.
The only downside to this castle is that it doesnt come with any furniture. Although I did find a perfect set by a different manufacturer.
All in all for the money, Santa made a very good buy. Whimsical and an appropriate accessory for the M&D castle. Plenty of characters to keep an active imagination busy. I ordered this set for my kids, great deal for 8 figures, w/ free shipping under 19.99. These are cute bendable wooden figures, costumes are as seen on the site, but the paint was way off on mine at least, They are very orange faces, like orange construction paper orange not the natural wood color which I would prefer. I got such a great deal and the castle display case is in made of wood and is an extremely nice case. I may figure out a way to just repaint the faces, the ones I have just have unattractive garish faces. Just kinda different than what I saw online at the Melissa and Doug site and Amazon. I can always add more yarn for hair. Eight Bendable play figures to rule a kingdome! The decorative castle box includes a King, Queen, Jester, Nobleman, two Knights and two horses. Have these Castle Dolls wander the kindom and engage the imagination. Rerations < Melissa&Doug Deluxe Castle Dolls Playset >

(Warning: This toy is UNSAFE contains Lead Arsenic&Others)
(Great Learning Tool)
(Goog Idea but bad design)
(Sound does not work right) This puzzle definitely reinforces language development, just make sure to store it in a dark box as it is light sensored and will be quite noisey if not properly stored. I recently purchased this toy on amazon along with the Numbers sound puzzle for my son. I haven't even unwrapped them as they need batteries that I have been meaning to buy. I came across a website [...] that tests toys for safety, chemicals etc. I did a search for several Melissa&Doug toys my son has. To my surprise this toy was rated "poor" because it contains terrible unsafe carcinogenic chemicals that have no place in childrens toys. I naively trusted the Melissa&Doug brand and was lazy to do my homework before buying. Well I've learned my lesson and this toy along with others are going were they belong...in the trash. Hopefully they are not too toxic for regular trash disposal! Please do your homework before buying toys even if the companies claim their toys are safe. Better safe than sorry. I bought this puzzle for my nephew who just turned 3. I had previously bought one for my 1 year old daughter. She loves it so much and has actually learned her letters from this puzzle and that is why I bought one for her cousin. It is a great puzzle. Some of the pictures behind the letter are an odd choice for little kids, but they don't care. And if you have dogs, be careful because they chew up easily due to the wood-type material they are made out of. Our "T" is all chewed up now, but still works. I love Melissa and Doug toys. My next purchase will be the "Numbers" puzzle because my daughter is now starting take interest in counting. Anyway, if you have a young child who is old enough to start learning the alphabet, this is a great puzzle! Numbers / Letters / Shapes by Melissa and David
These products are designed with a small light sensitive button under the number, letter or shape. Note that while I am only referring to the number game below that the same analysis applies to the letter (ABCs) and shape games. When you place the number in its appropriate slot (Example the # 2 in the number 2 slot) the game will say "two". The problem with the design is that it will also say two if your hand passes over the 2 slot while you are on your way to placing a 3 in the 3 slot. It will also say 2 if you cover the sensitivity button in the 2 slot with a 5, 6, 7, etc. I returned the numbers and letters game because the design problem of having the game calling out other numbers and calling out numbers other then the number my daughter has in her hand since that would tend to confuse her. I kept the shapes game even though it has the same design problem because since it is only 9 shapes (slots) vs. 20+ numbers or letters (slots) the problem is not as prevalent.
I bought this for my daughter along with the number puzzle. The alphabet puzzle never worked right and the number one does not work all the time. It also goes off all the time since my daughter does not always put the numbers back in it when she is done with it. I like the puzzle part of it but not the talking. Make learning the ABC's easier with this wooden puzzle. Place each piece of the alphabet on the puzzle board, and when a match is made, your child will hear the sound of each letter and a word beginning with that letter. It's a fun and unique way to reinforce cause-and-effect, and early vocabulary and matching skills. Rerations < Melissa&Doug Alphabet Sound Puzzle >

(Job well done, but could be better)
(Paris Sweets)
(Vive la France, vive le chocolat!)
(Charming Book, Magnificently Delicious Recipes) This book was such an addictingly delightful read that I couldn't put it down! I read it from cover to cover within an evening. As other reviewers mentioned, this is an unusual cookbook in that it doesn't have photographs at all! In addition, interspersed within the recipes are anecdotes of the author's experience when she explored the various Parisian patisseries. The recipes are sumptuous and as you can imagine of any authentic Parisian pastries, a tad involved. Nevertheless, there are also the relatively simple and delicious ones, such as irresistible Madeleines and crunchy little cookies (Croques).
My favorite part of the book is the little tidbits about how Dorie Greenspan managed to get the different patissiers to part with some of their signature recipes. I also like the hand illustrations of Paris and the patisseries. The drawings are reminiscent of the illustrations by Quentin Blake for Roald Dahl's books. This book will also double as a Parisian guide for gourmands and dessert enthusiasts! Overall, this is an enjoyable, delightful read! Being a big fan of Dorie Greenspan, I bought the book with great expectations. Dorie managed to tell great stories of these Parisian pastry creations at the same time tell her readers how to recreate those experiences.
As usual, the recipes are very detailed with step by step instructions, with pointers following each recipe to make it more unique. I tried many of them, and I'm definitely happy with the end results.
I only wish that there are pictures in the book, helping readers to envision how the end results would be. It'll also help giving pointers on judging whether the results are favorable. I mean, if I had not tasted a Madeleine in my entire life, how can I tell the difference between the real ones with a hump, and those flat ones from Starbucks? Paris Sweets: Great Desserts From the City's Best Pastry Shops We have been searching and searching for a recipe for Parisian Flan, and in this book we finally found the taste and texture we had been searching for! What a great compilation of Paris delicacies, easy to make and so delicious. Thanks, Doris!!! Dorie Greenspan's delightful, mouthwatering tour of Paris's patisseries in Paris Sweets: Great Desserts from the City's Best Pastry Shops is a gastronomic tour though the tempting varieties of French desserts, including cookies, simple cakes, tarts, pastries, more elaborate cakes, and base recipes.
Illustrated with charming pen-and-ink drawings (no photos of finished desserts, unfortunately), Dorie's fascinating backstories on the numerous Parisian bakeries and their signature recipes make for an enjoyable read. Dorie's familiarity with these cafes really lends her an air of authority when discussing the finer points of pastries and ingredients, as does the fact that she's a resident of Paris and not merely a visitor.
The selection of cookies includes delicate hints of citrus and spices such as anise, ground nuts, and classic cookies such as financiers and madeleines. For fans of chocolate, there are several chocolate cakes (pound cake, chocolate almond cake, Grandmother's creamy chocolate cake) and more unusual selections such as the Alsatian Kouglof (the original inspiration for the Bundt pan) and flan.
When I think of Parisian desserts, my first vision is an elegant tart, and Paris Sweets doesn't disappoint. Included are several chocolate tarts, one garnished with apricot jam and ripe bananas, a baked apple tart, and an unusual tea-flavored Tarte Tatin from Mariage Freres. Also included are the custardy fruit tarts, originally from Limousin, known as clafoutis, a whole-lemon tart, a fig-and-citrus tart, and unusual variations such as coffee, strawberry and marshmallow, and darjeeling tarts.
Perhaps the most emblematic of Paris's desserts are its pastries: creme brulee, chocolate mousse, chocolate bread pudding, ali-babas, coffee eclairs, and sumptuous hot chocolate thousands of miles above and beyond lame American Swiss Miss powder imitations. Simple yet elegant, these are described in exacting detail so that even a beginning home cook should feel confident enough to attempt them.
The last section, grand gateaux, covers elaborate, time-consuming cake creations such as Bacchus (golden raisins soaked in rum, three moist, chewy almond and cocoa cake layers, slabs of mousse-like ganache, and a dark chocolate glaze), Opera cake (three layers of almond cake soaked in coffee syrup, a layer of espresso buttercream, a layer of bittersweet chocolate ganache, and topped with chocolate glaze), Chocolate Temptation (a layer cake made from cocoa cake saturated with chocolate syrup and spread with raspberry jam and covered with a bittersweet ganache), Blanc-manger, Kings' Cake (yes, this is probably the origin of the N'Awlins Mardis Gras King Cake since it was served at Epiphany and similarly contains a hidden trinket), and Mille-feuille (layered puff pastry filled with pastry cream).
Base recipes include pastry creams (almond, vanilla), pate sucree (sweet tart dough), and puff pastry. Also included is a brief source guide (snail mail and URLs) and the addresses of all cafes and patisseries mentioned in Paris Sweets. Thoughtfully, recipes are given in Imperial and Metric measurements (supplies, ingredients, and oven temperatures). Most include ingredients that are easy enough to find if you happen to live near a well-stocked grocery store, or better yet, a Williams-Sonoma. Like with any dessert, you will want to use the best chocolate you can afford (Cluizel is always a solid choice), since baking won't improve the quality of the raw ingredients.
The end result of Paris Sweets are deceptively simple desserts that will transport you to the narrow streets and aged facades of Paris's historic patisseries. Even if you never make a single recipe, Dorie's writing is a rewarding journey by itself, especially with a steaming bowl of cafe au lait as you flip through this gem of a cookbook.
I ordered this book because it was the only cookbook I could find that included a recipe for Opera Cake. Opera Cake is my husband's favorite dessert, and so I thought I would make it for his birthday. Well, unfortunately, I learned that the recipe for Opera Cake actually has six (yes, SIX) subrecipes, and would probably take me about 3 days to make ... and with a new baby, I wouldn't have three days to spend on a dessert. So the Opera Cake, the original rationale for getting the book, never got made. But still, I found it somehow heartening that such a complicated recipe could be broken down into readable and comprehensible component parts ... something that a mere mortal could actually reproduce in her own American home kitchen - if she had three days and didn't happen to have a newborn to cater to, that is.
One small disappointment was that Greenspan doesn't give a recipe for almond macaroons (macarons), which were my favorite treat when I spent a little time in France. She just gives a lengthy description of how wonderful they are and says they are hard for the home cook to reproduce. I know she is right in saying so, as I did try to make them once at home using the recipe in Martha Stewart's Baking Handbook, and they turned nothing like the ones I'd had in France and I considered that recipe a failure. Still, on Amazon.fr there are about 20 different single-subject cookbooks in French on making macarons at home, so I still hold out hope that it's actually possible and I'll find a good recipe someday (or get around to ordering one of the French-language macaron treatises).
That said, this cookbook is a delight in every other way. The book is partly a travelogue describing the atmosphere and offerings at Paris's most famous patisseries, and her writing is so evocative, and so charmingly illustrated with line drawings, that you while reading you tend to feel as if you were standing in front of a gleaming case of sweetly scented pastries with a rotund pastry chef behind the counter sending up clouds of artisanal flour as you contemplate your order in line behind an elegant femme in couture high-heels leading a poodle on a leash.
Along with the travelogue descriptions you get the occasional informative discourse on ingredients such as chocolate and flour and eggs and how the ones the French pastry chefs use are different from ours.
And, of course, there are recipes, wonderful recipes. I made the choclate sables, and they were easy, and totally addictive as Greenspan warns. And I made the hot chocolate and it was so rich I had palpitations afterwards, but the taste was worth the risk of a heart attack. (And it was also easy peasy to make. I called my mom and gave her the recipe over the phone.)
Ten stars for this wonderful book. Dorie Greenspan's most vivid memory of her first trip to Paris doesn't have anything to do with the Eiffel Tower, but rather a heavenly strawberry tartlet. Overwhelmed by its extraordinary flavor, texture, and appearance, Greenspan was "hooked on Paris and hooked on the city's sweets."Paris Sweetsis the result of 30 years of searching for the most delectable, delicious, awe-inspiring pastries she could find, and then convincing their creators to part with the recipes.Scattered throughout this delightful book are whimsical illustrations and beautifully written stories about each of Greenspan's favorite pastry shops and the chefs who created them. Some of their recipes, such as Boulangerie Poilane's sweet, buttery, bite-size cookies called Punishments, are quick and easy enough for even a novice baker. And with Greenspan's clear, step-by-step, detailed instructions, Robert Linxe's Grandmother's Creamy Chocolate Cake, an elegant fudgy decadence, and Poujauran's rich, nutty-flavored Financiers, become child's play. Greenspan manages to demystify even the complicated multilayered Opera Cake from Dalloyau. From the most perfect Crème Brulee and Coffee Eclairs to the stunning Fresh Strawberry and Marshmallow Tart, made with homemade strawberry marshmallows, Greenspan will have you torn between makingParis Sweetsat home and going there yourself. And in case you can do both, she's included all the addresses you need.--Leora Y. Bloom The prize-winning author ofBaking with Julia(more than 350,000 copies sold), among other cookbook classics, celebrates the sweet life with recipes and lore from Paris's finest patisseries.
Like most lovers of pastry and Paris, Dorie Greenspan has always marveled at the jewel-like creations displayed in bakery windows throughout the City of Light. Now, in a charmingly illustrated tribute to the capital of sweets, Greenspan presents a splendid assortment of recipes from Paris’s foremost pastry chefs in a book that is as transporting to read as it is easy to use.
From classic recipes, some centuries old, to updated innovations,Paris Sweetsprovides a sumptuous guide to creating cookies, from the fabled madeleine to simple, ultra-buttery sables; tarts, from the famous Tatin, which began its life as an upside-down error, to a delightful strawberry tart embellished with homemade strawberry marshmallows; and a glorious range of cakes–lemon-drenched "weekend cake," fudge cake, and the show-stoppingOpera.Paris Sweetsbrims with assorted temptations that even a novice can prepare, such as coffeeéclairs, rum-soaked babas, and meringue puffs. Evocative portraits of the pastry shops and chefs, as well as information on authentic French ingredients, make this a truly comprehensive tour.
An elegant gift for Francophiles, armchair travelers, bakers of all skill levels, and certainly for oneself,Paris Sweetsbrings home a taste of enchantment. Rerations < Paris Sweets: Great Desserts From the City's Best Pastry Shops >

(I only liked one thing)
(What's all the negativity about? This book is adorable!) Good Book - But I have read better with cuter projects the project on the cover of this book is the best in this book the rest fall short..................I was a bit disappointed. I was hoping the whole book was full of whimsy as the cover suggested. i am a little puzzled over the negative reviews on this book...i bought this book to learn the basics of needle felting...and i DID...the instructions are very easy to follow in SPITE of what some others have said...i did NOT make the items in the book...i made my own felties using the techniques provided by Jenn...i have gotten great feedback on my projects and i am thrilled that i bought this book and learned how to felt...i am passing the book on to my mother, who wants to learn needle felting also...i highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn this form of art...do not be swayed by the negative feedback!!! This is a great book and covers basic concepts of needle felting and jointing. I do not recommend this book if you already know how to needle felt unless you just like to look at the beautiful pictures and need inspiration. Basically a book for beginners. There was only one thing that I liked...which is the felted soft toy on the front page. Everything eles seems to be...not cute, practical and dood design. If I was in US, i would have returned this book. I was afraid to order this book, based on the negative reviews some gave it ("tacky projects", "weird stuff", "unfinished looking", etc). But the cute little cover made me "have" to order it. I'm really glad I did, because I love the majority of the projects in this book. Let's face it, wearable needle felted stuff is NOT for everyone, and that includes the flower pin, ring, bracelets and belt in this book. But the rest of the stuff is great, and unlike anything else I've seen in similar books (I own several). In fact, that is what I loved about this book - it is the first needle felting book I've seen where the projects aren't BOOORING, fuddy-duddy and frumpy. In addition, this book contains the most thorough and clear explainations of needle felting and related applications. I LOVE it! I was afraid that needle felting meant you could only make traditional designs and objects that weren't too exciting, and that idea was really turning me off to needle felting. But this book got me excited about needle felting again. It's fresh, cute, easy to understand and not only gives you some great project ideas, but also creates some great jumping-off points for designing your own items. It's my most highly recommended book (out of 6+) on this topic so far! A little wool, a little needle and a lot of sweetness!Sweet Needle Feltsteaches you how to use wool roving or yarn to create beautiful, touchable felt projects. Learn to embellish everything from wearable accessories, like scarves and hats, to favorite items for the home, such as pillows and photo albums. If you're feeling more adventurous, move on to sculpting wool into one-of-a-kind bowls, necklaces and even cute critters and dolls. Whether you're adding a finishing touch or starting a project from scratch,Sweet Needle Feltsshows you the endless possibilities of needle felting, including: - Rich and textured fabric artwork. You'll be surprised how simple and fast it is to create.
- Woolly Critter T's that you can make in minutes. They're the perfect and inexpensive way to make something special from a plain T-shirt.
- Whimsical creatures with fully movable joints. Sculpt wool roving to make your own menagerie of these cute animals.
All 25 projects inSweet Needle Feltsrequire just a little time and a few materials. You'll want to make these as gifts for dear friends--but you better make two, because you'll fall in love with them yourself. Rerations < Sweet Needle Felts: 25 Projects to Wear, Give&Hug >

(Tastefully Small -- Dessert Canapés: Bite-Size Sweets for Easy Entertaining)
(What a Sumptuous Book!) Tastefully Small Dessert Canapés (Bite- Size Sweets for Easy Entertaining) is exactly what every hostess trying to survive the economic climate right now needs. It provides tiny doses of elegance at an affordable price. It is illustrated with pictures of absolutely gorgeous food that looks like art. But don't let the beauty fool you into thinking they are not edible. The frozen lemon lime bites are delicious. The toffee nut bites will make you forget your diet. The good thing is their size...they are bite sized. You can eat one and not feel guilty at all.
I love variety as much as I love sweets so this is the perfect book for me. Recipes are straightforward with many interesting and delicious tastes. The variety is wonderful as well as creative suggestions so you can personalize the recipes and presentation.
This is a wonderful book and I can't wait to read more from this author. Tastefully Small Dessert Canapes (bite size sweets for easy entertainment) by Kim Henderson is a truly charming book that feeds the eye and stomach from one creative platter. The author's experience in teaching culinary arts and testing the products comes through with graciousness, gentle humor, simply stunning recipes, helpful hints and various ways to "change up" and personalize the blends.
From refreshing mango almond lychees and frozen lemon-lime bites to rich classic truffles, hazelnut mousse and whimsical tropical berry kabobs that look like a blossoming garden, Ms. Henderson has given us a treasure trove of little yummy gifts sure to please a wide variety of people. Delicious and delightful. My rating 5 Stars
This is a deliciously simple yet elegant dessert book made especially
for the little things in life. Kim Hendrickson gives us recipes for
all the tasty sweets you can think of. Fruit, classic, cookie, even
bread and pastry canapés are presented in this book. There's
pomegranate caviar canapés, strawberry pineapple dots, and even mini
watermelon swirls! Containers for the desserts, such as stuffed figs,
are given to you at the end of the book.
Not only are you given recipes, but Kim also gives you tips and advice
for presentation and substitutions! For example, she'll make sure you
don't ruin your Melon Flowers by using fresh ginger instead of
candied. You should always use powdered instead!
The book also has a lovely design, not intrusive but still noticeable
and quite stylish. This is the perfect book for anyone who likes the
to, as Kim says, go small and tasty!
Desserts are about my favorite thing in the world (most people fantazize about romance or wealth-I fantasize about desserts), and Hendrickson's "Tastefully Small Dessert Canapes" is a desert fantasizers drean come true. The good thing is that these pictures and recipes can easliy become a reality. Even though the recipes are for somewhat out-of-the-ordinary goodies, the directions are easy-to-follow.
I especially like the cookie-based canapes. I can't wait to give a tea and try more of them. What s more enticing than a mouthwatering, bite-sized dessert? A whole bunch to choose from! This one-of-a-kind book combines classic flavors with simple hors d oeuvre techniques to fashion more than fifty seductive petite sweets, from Cranberry Pear Bruschetta and Tiramisu Napoleons to Cheesecake Truffles and Passionfruit Ganache Oysters (complete with white chocolate pearls ). Each as beautiful as it is delicious, these small bites will satisfy the most discerning guest. Gorgeous color photos and watercolor illustrations complement over fifty deceivingly simple recipes, each with its own distinctive presentation. Garnishing ideas and recipe variations give you a palette of creative options to choose from, while clear, step-by-step instructions and time-saving tips make the most complex constructions a breeze. Most dishes can be made in advance with quick assembly prior to serving, promising stress-free success. Don t sweat the small stuff.
