Description The Black Mission Fig originated at Spanish Monasteries in California and Mexico centuries ago. The fig is a picturesque tropical-looking tree or shrub with a dramatic spreading habit. The breadth is often wider than the height of 15'-30'. The bark is smooth and silvery gray and the deciduous leaves are 3 or 5-lobed and 4"-10" long. There are many cultivars available for the home landscape.Location Originally from the eastern Mediterranean region, figs have been cultivated by humans for over 5000 years. Culture Light: Part sun to full sun. Moisture: Average, well-drained. Drought tolerant, once established. Hardiness: Hardy in USDA Zones 8-10, but with winter protection can be grown as far north as Zone 5.Propagation: Dormant hardwood cuttings and root suckers. As a patio plant, set outside during the summer and move indoors in the winter. Usage Fig trees usually begin bearing fruit within two years. Mulch heavily with organic materials to conserve moisture, improve soil structure and reduce root knot nematode levels. Once established, figs are drought tolerant and generally free of pests and diseases. When fully dormant, fig trees can tolerate temperatures as low as -15° F. In colder regions, figs are grown as bushes with multiple stems and branches close to the ground that are laid down and buried before winter. Even if frozen to the ground, figs often will resprout from the roots and produce a crop the following summer. Fig trees respond well to pruning. Theycan be espaliered or pruned heavily in the dormant season for size control and to increase the main crop. The fig tree makes an especially attractive specimen in the landscape. It's graceful, spreading shape and smooth, twisting branches command attention in all seasons. You will receive one Black Mission Fig growing in a 4" pot. It is about 6" tall and well rooted.

Fabulous photo album to show off your precious baby!
Good quality album and it looks very nice. The color is quite different than the picture.. it is more to yellow color but still very nice
This is a very adorable photo album. I've never seen such cute looking ones in stores. You'll get complemented on it and it's a good piece to put as a decoration. I bought it for 24$ from amazon, then, it went on sale and amazon refunded me the difference because it was still within 30 days of purchase. Love amazon.
This is an excellent item. The seller shipped fast and I am 100% satisfied with the overall transaction. Would definitely buy from this seller again.
This album is very nice, and I feel great about giving it as a present.

(Sesame Street - Rock and Roll)

(Beware of missleading discription)

(Good fun and so cute. You won't go insane if you have to watch it repeatedly!)

(HOW TO GET THE KIDS TO ROCK!)

(Didn't Capture the Kids)
My daughter absolutely loves this dvd. She watches it almost every day. Not only is it fun, but it's educational too.
I haven't opened and viewed this video, so this review is based on the description and reason I returned it unopened.
My grandson loves Elmo and Sesame Street but most of the ones I have are only 30 minutes playing time; For us, that is not enough. I was looking for some hour long videos to play for him at bedtime. I purchased three videos that the descriptions showed to be 60 minutes playing time. When I got the DVDs, each one of the DVD covers clearly stated that they were 30 minutes playing time. So I returned all three for refund.

My son LOVED this one! He sang to it non stop. It was great fun and on the parent scale for "repeated watching without losing your mind scale" it rates very high!
As a rock and roller, I definately like to recommend stuff that rock and roll parents can enjoy with their rock and roll kids. The title here says it all. Rock and Roll.
Sesame Street has been the tops when it comes to rockin kid songs since the sixties man!
THE WORD IS NO song is sung by a non muppet, and a pretty cute non puppet at that. Gina, from back in the days when she was a ripped jeans wearing teenager on the show in the eighties. I like it. Holds up.
Others hold up too. MONSTER IN THE MIRROR, TELEPHONE ROCK, the Rolling Stones parody (I Cant Get No) COOPERATION (the Mick Jagger muppet is hillarious!), or the HIP TO BE[a]SQUARE song.
Admittedly there are quite a few missing, as I have over the past years since having a baby worked on collecting as many Sesame Street rock videos as I can... a personal favorite that is missing is the Bruce Springsteen parody Baby We were Born To Add...or the "now I am a Cereal Girl" or even the Alice Cooperish "Theres 18 sandwiches and I dont know what to do"... but this is a great start, containing a dozen or so ROCK songs for kids, and I have no problem tossing in this one, cranking up the volume, and getting down with the Muppets. Cuz they know how to rock the cradle, man.
Also props to the main character here. A DJ known as Jackman Wolf (get it?) who has sort of a secret appetite for eating little piggies.

My kids love Elmo's World and other various Sesame Street DVD's. This one just isn't one of their favorites. It doesn't capture them, but I enjoy it. My kids are 2&3 but it just doesn't keep their interest.

(Great DVD)

(Grows on you!)

(Excellent DVD!)

(To Each's Own)

(don't believe the negatives......)
A great way for my daughter to learn the ABCs and I enjoyed watching it with her. I think the hosts are really fun.
At first, we thought we had been fooled into buying something that didn't have Elmo in it at all. But after several viewings, we realized that it's a perfect way to introduce songs/sketches for each letter. Elmo is in several of the sketches, and the whole thing keeps our baby's attention. Our baby is 22 months, and she can't yet sing the alphabet song because she just doesn't have the language to string through all of the letters. But she is able to identify 13 letters when they are shown to her, and I think this video has a lot to do with it! I know Kindergarteners who don't know 13 letters. We're very impressed with the video and enjoy watching it as parents too.
My 19 month old has been watching this DVD since he was 16 months old and he's always loved it. He doesn't find the beginning boring at all; he loves the people dressed as letters and shouts out "A" and "Z" everytime he sees them. Between this DVD, Here Come The ABC's from They Might Be Giants and Leapfrog's Letter Factory he has learned the entire alphabet and the phonics for each letter!
I rate this DVD a five because it has served it's purpose for my child. She will be two years old (on September 29, 2007) and she has known her alphabet since she was 20 months, thanks to ALL STAR ALPHABET. Yes, the music is corny at first, but after hearing the songs everyday I found myself singing right along with her. If you show intrest in the DVD, then so will your child. Everyone is amazed at how my daughter can identify EVERY letter of the alphabet on our refrigerator or when we write it on paper. I would recommend this item to anyone who wants a smart baby like mine ;-)
We love this DVD (my wife and I) - and we are buying it again because we lost it moving to Europe. Our son really loves it - and the songs are really good. This is not an annoying Barney tape. We can all listen to this one w/o going crazy. 5 stars all the way.

(A Great Music CD!)

(cool classics!)

(Nearly perfect)

(Nice overview)

(Sweet sounds on this CD)
The Best of Sweet is a great CD. I love the song "Fox On The Run" and I can't help singing to it and even dancing. Other favorites are "Little Willie" and "Love is Like Oxygen". All the songs on this CD are good.
If you are into the "love is like oxygen" song with its awesome unique sounding guitar and beat, then there is nothing like having the original by sweet. In addition, this cd has "ballroom blitz", which I love by Krokus...I had no idea it was an original from Sweet, so when I heard it on this cd I really liked it, and the price....sweeeeter! LOL
This is probably the best single-disc overview of The Sweet's career. My only complaint is the one glaring ommission, and that is "Hellraiser". I would have swapped the cliche-ridden "The Lies In Your Eyes" for the genuine stormer that is "Hellraiser", which often opened their concerts back in the glory days of the '70s. Of the later material, "Lost Angels" is the lost hit by the band; it should have been released in the USA, but instead we got "Funk It Up", a rather lame disco-tinged number, which actually charted but is thankfully missing from this collection.
To anyone wanting a simple overview of Sweet, this is for you. Their best songs are all here
Sweet's Best Of (with the pink cover, they seem to have several "best of" albums/CDs) is a good compliation from this unusual and highly-influential band. They kind of remind me of Ziggy Stardust-era David Bowie meets The Supremes mixed with guitar-driven rock like early Kiss. Listening to The Best of Sweet it's clear why bands like Def Leppard and Motley Crue are fans. With songs that range in style from a teeny booper Beach Boys sound to full 70s arena rock, this CD also provides an interesting perspective on the band's lengthy career. If you like bands like Queen, The Darkness, or are into 60s OR 70s classic rock, or like any of the bands that cite Sweet as an influence, this CD is worth listening to for sure. I'll always like Tia Carrere singing Ballroom Blitz better though! Standout tracks: Little Willy, Wig Wham Bam, Ballroom Blitz, The Six Teens, Fox On The Run, Love is Like Oxygen.
They were glam, they were hams, and they made great singles. From "Little Willy" on, they forged a pop sound, always with a sly wink at the audience, never taking themselves too seriously. But when you had songs like "Ballroom Blitz," "Blockbuster," and "Fox on the Run," who really cared if you wore more makeup than a phalanx of runway models? For several years, Sweet could do absolutely no wrong. The remarkable thing is that, some quarter of a century on, the great stuff still sounds as fresh and as fun as it did when everyone wore feather cuts.--Chris Nickson

(Must see movie)

(Being there.)

(Uncut Dvd Please!!!)

(Please release it on DVD!)

(One of the greatest cavalry charges ever)
This is one of the most exciting war time epics I have ever seen. Visually stunning with a memorable score by Mario Millo. This is the true story of the last mounted charge in history. Australian Lighthorsemen attack the German-Turkish stronghold at Beersheba during World War One. Excellent in every way, and one of the most exciting charge sequences ever committed to film.
While I love this movie, I don't think it is as good as the Aussie classic,`Gallipoli'. Having said that, it holds a very special place in my heart.

When `The Lighthorsemen' premiered in Australia in I think, 1988, I was in the process of interviewing a dozen or so local First World War veterans (they are all gone now). One, Douglas Ellibank-Murray, rode with the 12th Lighthorse Regiment during WW1 and participated in the charge at Beersheba. He told a fascinating tale of his time with the 12th after having enlisted as a young drover (cowboy), along with his horse.

While Doug` was happy to speak about his service and the assault on Beersheba in particular, he would not talk about what happened when the Aussies reached the Turkish trenches. This, despite my persistent if gentle probing. I suspect that things happened there that Doug` wanted left alone. There has been talk of Turkish soldiers having `surrendered' then firing on the Australians. It has been reported that some arbitary executions were carried out in response.

One of my life's greatest pleasure was to accompany Doug to the movie's local premier where he was, of course, guest of honour. While quite frail, he appreciated all the attention, especially from the young ladies present. He was still a charming and quite handsome man, not unlike the 19 year old, blue eyed and blonde haired drover who had enlisted back in 1915.

I watched Doug closely out of the corner of my eye throughout `The Lighthorsemen' and the only time he appeared to become animated was when the actual charge was underway; he was moving about quite a bit and I suspect, he was there again.

After the movie, Doug offered a number of technical comments including the fact that the Turkish trenches were inaccurately portrayed as relatively straight, when in fact they were of saw-tooth construction.

The fate of the `whalers' (the name given to the horses, most of who had come from the AUSTRALIAN State of New South Wales). Many were in fact `put down' rather than end up pulling a `gypoe's' (Egyptian) cart in downtown Cairo. Doug was in a bit of a state worrying about what would happen to his own beloved horse until approached by a Britsh officer who had admired the horse and wanted to take it to his next posting in India to be used as a polo pony.

After assessing the `Pommy' officer and his handling of the horse, Doug agreed. The officer wrote to Doug for many years telling him about the horse which was eventually retired and died of old age in India.

Doug Ellibank-Murray was a lovely man and then a living legend of that famous day in October 1917.

This film has long been a favorite for me, even without the 15 minutes an earlier reviewer described. There is no excuse for a beautifully filmed movie such as this not to be available on dvd in its entirety.
This film needs to be released on DVD with anamorphic widescreen treatment. I'm so tired of waiting for it.
As many other reviewers have pointed out this is a fantastic film and one that should be seen by anyone interested in horses in wartime. The real issue is how to see it at it's best. If you want to see all of it the only choice is the American release on laser disc. This is in the full original widescreen of 2.35:1, but of course has analogue video and on the big screen it is quite grainy. The recent Australian release on DVD is a disgrace. It has good digital video but is cut to 1.78:1 and critical parts of the film are of course cut off. They have minimised this slightly by opening up the top and bottom a little so I suppose the actual cut may be nearer 1.85:1 but the grand vistas REQUIRE the full 2.35:1. The famous charge looks ridiculous at the cut back ratio. One can only hope that whoever has the rights to this film in the US will do the right thing and give us a deluxe full size release as soon as possible. I am sticking to my LD despite it's shortcomings. The Australian DVD will be better than tape but whoever decided to issue it in such a truncated version should be ashamed of himself.

(A Terrific Little Movie)

('Wonderland' is wonderful, misleading cover box packaging aside)

(City of Hope)

(Always a pleasure to watch)

(What a sorry movie...)
In the wrong hands this could have been another cutesy look at life and love among the yuppies, instead Hope Davis and a stellar cast (with a virtual but hysterical cameo by Philip Seymour Hoffman)and a good script make this a thoroughly enjoyable watch. Recently dumped (again) by Hoffman's character, Davis is depressed&angry at the bottom feeders she is forced to endure on endless blind dates culled from the respondents to a personal ad placed by her witty, vivacious, successful mother, played to perfection by Taylor Holland. In this parallel story telling technique - On the other side of the bar is Alan Gelfant, who is just a guy trying to make a career leap from plumber to marine biologist. Alan has his own bag of troubles - loan sharks, dopey yuppy brother and a persistant suitor, who just doesn't give up. A really fun movie.
11 years on, this movie is mostly of interest because of the small role played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. As usual, he turns a bit part into something much, much more.

But beyond that historical artifact, 'Wonderland' is wonderful. It's well-written, well-acted and downright, laugh-out-loud funny in many spots, but not in a slapstick way. The movie has added thrills for a native Bostonian like me. While it's not steeped in 'Boston-alia' like The Departed (Widescreen Edition) or Mystic River (Widescreen Edition), it has some delightful hooks, like the use of the T's Blue Line (from which it derives its neat movie title), the New England Aquarium (site of many school trips in my youth) and the Wonderland race track ("And there goes Swifty!").

My only gripe: the coverbox. It has nothing to do with the movie itself. Hope Davis is pictured smiling impishly in a revealing, skimpy dress. As viewers of the movie know, Ms. Davis' character doesn't crack a smile until the end, and she's in no mood to wear a dress like that. This isn't as bad as the cover art of such marketing inanities like the totally misleading packaging of The Star Maker and East Is East, but this is still another example of marketers trying to dress-up a movie into something that its not. I bet Hope Davis scratched her head and threw a fit when she saw how the movie was being marketed. It's an affront to the character she developed.

Writer/director Brad Anderson's intelligent and easygoing fable about love and serendipity made me a Hope Davis fan for life. Davis plays a laid back Bostonian who finds her love life set adrift after her pompous environmental activist boyfriend (Philip Seymour Hoffman) suddenly decides that dashing off to save the earth is more important than sustaining their relationship. Her story is paralleled with that of a charming and unassuming single fellow (Alan Gelfant) who aspires to become a marine biologist. Both parties find themselves politely deferring to well-meaning friends and relatives who are constantly trying to fix them up with dates. I don't think it's a spoiler to tell you that these two are destined to end up together! The film seems to have been inspired by A Man and a Woman, right down to its breezy bossa nova/samba soundtrack.
I love this movie. I love the characters, the way they're developed, and the humor. I love love love Hope Davis. She epitomizes who I'd love to be and how savvy I wish I was. A wonderful movie, full of scenes to replay in memory over and over.
I couldn't wait for this movie to be over. A friend of mine recommended this movie and lent it to me to watch. Big regrets. It is just too stupid. The story just wasn't there. It is definitely not for the family. The development of the characters just didn't happen. The main character, Hope Davis, was sad at losing someone and you don't know who until the end. It flips back and forth between the guy who dumped her and when her father died. They hint here and there but never really get to the story.
A lovely, lilting soundtrack of samba and bossa nova melodies gently guides this charming movie about Erin (Hope Davis), a young nurse adrift in her life. When her boyfriend, a hyperactive political activist played by the amazing Philip Seymour Hoffman (Boogie Nights,Happiness), leaves her, Erin struggles to find serenity on her own. Meanwhile, her mother schemes to find her a new boyfriend by placing a personal ad for Erin without her knowledge.Next Stop Wonderlandjuxtaposes this with the story of Alan (Alan Gelfant), a plumber struggling to get a degree as a marine biologist. The movie weaves all sorts of hints about fate and destiny, so it's no surprise at the end when Erin and Alan meet--but the fun is in getting there. In addition to the well-drawn characters and sharp, clever writing (the sequence of personal-ad dates that Erin goes on is both funny and painful), the movie is full of visual grace notes. For example, while at a bar, Alan spills a drink on a newspaper; the wet newsprint becomes translucent and reveals a photo of Erin that was taken at an aquarium fundraiser and printed in the society page. But before Alan even sees it, his friends scoop up the wet paper and throw it away. These moments have a casual, tossed-off air that evokes a lightly mystical sense of how our lives float on a thousand invisible coincidences. More than anything else, the movie spotlights Hope Davis's intelligence and quiet soulfulness. This wonderful actress has been appearing in small roles in Hollywood features (Arlington Road,Mumford) that don't do her justice;Next Stop Wonderlandlets her glow.--Bret Fetzer
The critically acclaimed romantic comedy of the year, NEXT STOP WONDERLAND is a lighthearted story about a man and a woman who seem destined to be together ... and the hilarious chain of accidents that seem determined to keep them apart! Dumped by her loser boyfriend (Philip Seymour Hoffman, THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY), Erin (Hope Davis, ARLINGTON ROAD) thinks that her love life has hit rock bottom. In reality, the all-time low comes when her overbearing mother (Holland Taylor, TV's THE PRACTICE) places an embarrassing ad for her in the "personals" section of a local newspaper! Erin's disgust turns to curiosity, however, when the calls start pouring in -- all 64 of them! As she searches for the right guy in a hilarious series of disastrous dates, a lonely ex-plumber named Alan (Alan Gelfant) clumsily searches for his dream job ... all the while narrowly missing one chance meeting with Erin after another! Filled with delightfully unexpected surprises, you're sure to love every minute of this smart and funny adventure into the wildly unpredictable world of dating!

(My son loves it!)

(not that satisfied with this dvd)

(Not for our family)

(Wonderful songs!)

(Dissapointed)
My 17 month old son loves this dvd. Cute and catchy songs for the young ones. A must have for any baby who enjoys music.
My 22-month-old girl and I really like wiggles so much. Actually we enjoyed their songs through youtube. After I found their super hit songs are in this 'Yummy Yummy' dvd, I bought it immediately. BUT! I can't say I'm satisfied with it. 'Hot potato', 'Monkey dance', 'Fruit salad' are very very catchy and nice to sing along and dance, as you know. And 'Can you point the fingers and do the twist' and 'go captain feathersword' are puppets play, not real wiggles! and their puppets? very ugly.. though my daughter keet watching the puppet songs but I'm not sure what's in her mind. Anyway, I don't recommend this, but 'wiggle time' or 'Toot Toot'.
We LOVE the Wiggles. The Wiggles was the first show that my baby boy showed any interest in at all, and he's been watching them over a year now (He's going on 21 months). We have 13 different Wiggles DVDs that we rotate for him. But, unfortunately, we had to give this one to the Goodwill. He loves the whole DVD - except for the Wiggle puppets. He backs away from the TV with a horrified expression when they're on, and as I'm usually trying to get things done when he's watching the Wiggles, it's hard to make sure I'm there to fast-forward past the 2 puppet songs. I find myself wondering, as much as I love them, why they did these scenes at all. They are rather scary.
I love this one as much as my 2 yr old son. I'm glad I got this one.
Hi
I purchased this item as my daughter loved watching this DVD at my moms house in Australia. It is a totally different version and is a mismatch of live and staged performances that barely relate to one another. A poor representation of the usually brilliant wiggles.

(Not the Book, But Good Enough for Entertainment Including Motley Crue)

(Never received)

(I'll get straight to the point)

(It is great!!!)

(Way too violent)
Beautiful soundtrack accompanies this film and brings to life the magic of the Indian in the Cupboard. Children, unlike adults, will not notice the stilted acting as they will be so caught up with the thought of the power of the cupboard and seeing a beloved book on screen.

Two things that caught me by surprise were Motley Crue's music video of Girls, Girls, Girls added to the TV watching scene where Little Bear shoots Boone in the heat of the "cowboy and Indian" battle. I'm sure it was meant to contrast Omri's era with the era from which the tiny men came, but I wish they had used a different clip because it made it so I couldn't show it to my class. The other small difference was that the setting was in America as opposed to England, but that's a detail that can be overlooked.

Overall, children will find it an enjoyable portrayal of the book and will allow you to discuss and compare differences and similarities between literature and film.

This was ordered on 5/27/09 and never received/billed. Not sure why or what happened, but not impressed.
*racist

Unless a parent is going to use the book/movie as a learning tool to show explain racism to their child don't buy it.

This is a must see movie for any ages. It brings about the use of imaginations again parents!!!
My 10 year old son was reading this book in class and we decided to watch the movie as a family. About half-way through the movie is a scene, absolutely not in the book, where Native Americans are shot by "cowboys", scream in pain and die. My son was so distressed, we had to turn the movie off. I have since met three other families whose children had nightmares or other strong negative reactions to this totally unnecessary graphic violence. I will admit that my 8 year old daughter was not bothered by it, nonetheless, I cannot recommend this movie for young children.
Good things often come in little packages, as young Omri (Hal Scardino) discovers when he receives a present from his friend Patrick, a plastic Indian figure that comes to life after Omri locks him in his toy cupboard. Little Bear (Litefoot), an Iroquois Indian from 1761, opens up new worlds of thought, experience, and tolerance to young Omri. A few disastrous experiments with other toys in the cupboard and Patricks insistence on receiving his own living toy reveals to Omri that the "toys" have feelings just as he does, no matter how small their stature. Frank Oz (BOWFINGER) directs from a script from Melissa Mathison (E.T.).
Young Hal Scardino stars as a sensitive boy who discovers a way to bring plastic toys to life in a locked cupboard. One of those toys, a 19th-century Iroquois warrior (played by actor Litefoot), was actually a real warrior now only several inches tall. A bond eventually develops between boy and warrior, and a six-shooting toy cowboy (David Keith). As withE.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,The Indian in the Cupboard(which was written byE.T.scribe Melissa Mathison) is about a magical visitor connecting with a lonely child. But director Frank Oz (In&Out) has made the film far too stiff and dramatically flat to get across the enchantment necessary to make the fantasy work. Watching this is like listening to someone who can't tell a good story to save his life, yet who is trying to captivate your attention and heart.--Tom Keogh

(4:3!!!!)

(Talk about Big Brother!)

(Another view of 1984)

(One of my favorites)

(Very good film and the wide screen anamophic is available!)
I knew going in that this was a 4:3 NOT 16:9 movie but I remember this movie from years ago and enjoyed it. Only 1 star because of the aspect ratio, 4 stars for the movie.

Note to studios: The dual sides DVDs with 4:3 on one side and 16:9 on the other side are bad enough but this is the 21st century. Get those movies out in their original formats!!!

While I'll admit that I haven't bought the film, I taped it when it was on t.v. a few years back, and reading the criticisms that it's not on the advertised wide screen, I won't buy it.

What I find most interesting about this film is that reviewers don't seem to notice the reality about Colossus which I believe is a Big Brother version of Government as a whole. Colossus was invented by a man who figured a computer could run things efficiently the only difference being is that those in Government can curb their feelings and care whereas Colussus is unable to care or feel because its a machine. But alas, Colossus got full of itself, just like Government, in its ability to control. Why is it terrible for a computer to be the same?

We threaten war with each other. Colussus wanted to stop war. How dare it!

We threaten to nuke people, but when Colussus actually did nuke a place in Russia, the characters were outraged. How dare this computer actually do what Man threatens with impunity with his own weapons invented soly for destruction!

Forbin didn't much care for Colussus 'watching' his personal life in his home, yet people have long accepted going into stores and being 'watched' by cameras, and speed cameras taking pictures of them. Only when we're personally affected do we become suddenly outraged by the lack of privacy not caring about others' privacy being affected.

Just as people are used to Government watching everything they do, down to even dictating who can and can't marry, Forbin and the gang will eventually get used to Colussus taking over and go "Wow! How did we manage without him!" just as people think that about a Government we always complain about when something goes bad, adores when everything goes right, while at the same time continually allowing politicians to run everything.

Colussus The Forbin Project should serve as a very real warning. Whether it be a computer designed by Man, or Government designed by people, we have to make the hard decision. Do we really need others overseeing us, or will we one day make a stand and start ruling ourselves without some form of Big Brother sitting on his throne for a change. Until that day arrives, Colussus-The Forbin Project is just a scary reminder of what's already happening.

This is a very interesting look at what could happen if computers are allowed to have control. It's a 70's view of the idea behind "The Terminator". A must have for classic Sci-Fi fans.
I had watched Colossus - the Forbin Project a number of years ago on cable and was immediately hooked. It became then and remains today one of my all time favorites.

I was impressed with how well thought out and executed this film was. One could certainly guess that the Terminator films, among others, were heavily inspired by this movie. Even if the goals of Colossus are far more altruistic for mankind than Skynet's.

It was truly interesting to see Eric Braeden so young. He's still immediately recognizable though, if you ever watch daytime soaps; all though one must admit Forbin is the complete opposite of today's Victor Nueman.

Then you have Susan Clark (wife of for NFL star Alex Karras), who would many years later be known as Webster's [adoptive] mom. And Marion Ross of Happy Days fame and Dolph Sweet of Gimme a Break!

You won't go wrong with the film. Personally, I think it's one of the best techno-thriller films out there - easily on par with the Terminator, Wargames, and the Net films.

Stay away from this ugly pan and scan and instead consider MGM's European PAL region 2 version (if your DVD player can handle it) - The PAL 2 is a near perfect, beautiful, anamorphic wide screen. You can find the PAL copy at Amazon UK or I bought mine from xploitedcinema.com. Colossus's plausible plot combines three elements - the cold war, computers running amuck, and a doomsday scenario. Many similar elements can be found in War Games, Star Trek (VGER), Andromeda Strain, Doctor Strangelove, The Day The Earth Stood Still and Fail Safe. The basic ideas and premise, acting, directing, and set design work well together and make for an exciting and thoughtful film. I particularly liked when the computer's first start to chat with each other and their tantrum-like demand for communication. Colossus never earned classic status - my guess that was due to a trite sounding title, a mostly unknown cast, a subjective ending, and a sometimes visable thin layer of Hollywood-cheese spread. Otherwise there is little to complain about the film - for the most part Colossus is a cool film and deserves high standing on all Sci-Fi lists.

(kids love them)

(Yummy, yummy!)
Amazingly good crackers. We were looking in the organic food aisle at Kroger a few months back and found these crackers. They taste better than Cheez-Its and Cheese Nips, AND they're organic and healthier for you. I wish they sold these with less of a baby/toddler theme, though.
My 2 1/2 yr old loves these crackers as do most kids who come over. They have Elmo and Big Bird faces and a good cheesy taste without grease or messy hands. Not as easy to break as fish crackers and I think they taste better.
My children (and I) LOVE these cheese crackers. I love the ingredients: organic and non GMO, no MSG, etc. The flavor is great and they are fun to eat! We have been purchasing these for over a year and highly recommend them! (Just wish they were available for subscription purchase, hint, hint)

(Johb Cope's Corn is good)
Cope's dried corn is the best! I stock up every time I'm in Lancaster County.
I found a weird recipe that uses Cope's Corn. Amazon had the product. It was shipped from the manufacturer who turned out to be a group of very nice people with a very good product.

(WebKinz Pink Poodle)

(Awky POOdle)

(My Kids loves it,)

(Fun toy.. website is fun AND educational!!)

(Cute toy that usually does not get played with.)
The Pink Poodle is one of my favorites. It is so soft and cute. Not sure who is going to get this one, but whoever it is will be very pleased. The WebKinz are really fun, educational toys and a great gift for someone who has everything. There are so many to choose from, GREAT GIFTS.
This poodle has seen better days and needs to be made better and much more adorable.
If you dont have access to the internet this toy is useless. It is just a expensive Teddy bear. Luckily we do. Now the problem is she wants to be on my laptop all the time to care for and earn things for her WEBKINZ. Adorable online community for kids. Seems to be pretty Safe, she just creates a world for her pink poodle to live in. I got one for my 8 year old and my 3 year old and they love them, but I hate the time they need to spend on my computer. They don't play with the Actual stuffed toy itself, but they want to log on and play. That was something they do anyway with some of the kids online games and community. So basicly you pay for a password to enter online and name and create a online pet to care for. Unless I missed something. I allow her to get online once a week and do the Webkinz thing. She enjoys it. I think it helps to teach responsibility. I think the stuffed animals are adorable so that alone makes them worth it. But the kids are not that impressed, not mine anyway. My 3 year old love the Pink Froggy, yet my 8 year old would rather do the internet thing. So U decide. Good luck.
Bought this for my daughter for Christmas. She LOVES the poodle and LOVES "Taking care" of her on the website. Tons of educational testing and interaction.
This web kinz is cute. But because webkinz is really selling you a code to enter their site. The animals do not get played with as much as the site when you can get on the site or when it does not kick you off.
The webkinz server goes down quite a bit.

Discover a virtual world with Webkinz pets. Webkinz animals come with a special Internet code so your child can interact with it online. The code lets you enter Webkinz World and bring your pet to life. Pet owners can name it, make it a home and even play games. Pink Poodle measures 10". Not recommended for children under 3.

(perfect toy for creative play)

(Nice Castle)

(Melissa&Doug Deluxe Folding Medieval Castle)

(Fantastic castle- even better service!!)

(Great imaginative play!!!)
My youngest daughter (age 4) received the Melissa&Doug Folding Medieval Castle for her birthday a week ago. She and her 5 year old sister have played with it for hours on end! This is not just a "boy toy." It helps to purchase figurines to go with it, but alone, it's worth it's weight in gold!
This is really nice and well made castle. My son is 2 yrs old so he hasn't quite played with it as much as I would like but I'm sure when he gets older he will love it.
My 7 year old grandson absolutely loves this castle. It is one of his very favorite toys. He spends hours at a time playing with it. I think it's one of the best toys ever&an excellent bargan.
I just wanted to take a minute to say how impressed I am- I knew that the castle I purchased was already great, but the service was incredible. Kind and friendly (real people on the phone) and the fastest shipping ever! I am so happy. I will definitely order from you again!
I bought this for my son's 5th birthday and he and his friends (boys and girls) played with the castle all day. The kids were actually waiting to play with the castle over the commercial action figure toys that are marketed everywhere. This is a great imaginative toy for boys! The construction is durable as all Melissa and Doug toys are.
Features extensive hand-painted accents, a working drawbridge and trap door, colorful courtyard, balconies and removable turret!

(widgets - great purchase!)

(Best present ever!)

(Excellent toy)

(I am wowed..)

(Cool Toy and Kinda Nerdy)
I found this toy by accident after searching for a stacking toy for a two-year-old. It is terrific! She quickly learned how to build with it, and her older sisters and parents love it, too. They fight over who gets to build with it. Now I need to buy some of the expansion kits so they can build bigger and better.
We've bought Wedgits for our own kids (both boys, 3 and 4), and we've bought them to give away. They are so much fun to play with and they keep the kids occupied for a very long time. They love to build up and out, and they like trying to build the pictures on the box. Great gift for yourself or someone else!
My 2 year old loves this toy. She sits and plays with this set for an hour or more at a time. It's great!
I opened the box, looked at the odd looking pieces and thought how can one play this toy. But boy, was I wrong? my whole family, grand parents, parents, kids, all had so much fun making shapes out of this toy. It is remarkably easy to make complex shapes. I will give this toy 10 stars if I can. The pieces are very solid and sturdy.

Wedgits is a cool toy, a great alternative to other conventional blocks. The starter set is made up of 15 colorful pieces. It is easy enough for the little ones because unlike Duplos you do not need to press hard to stack them. They are also light enough that even if the blocks fall it won't hurt their fingers. There are myriad of ways to stack them that it is really a fun way to encourage creativity and motor control.

The box says for ages 3 to 103. My 2 year old is having fun with them along with her older brother who is 4. I love tinkering with them too but as with the older kids, it could have been more fun if there are more pieces.

Early Einsteins emerge with Wedgits. Simply put, Wedgits distinguish themselves as a manipulative masterpiece. This set is just right for your toddler and continues to provide building fun for years to come. Winner of over 7 awards for educational value. Wedgits invite complex thinking, experimentation, and construction. They refine spatial orientation, perceptual skills, dexterity, and the understanding of geometric concepts. Possibilities with these bright, primary colored, chunky plastic pieces are endless! The blocks of this manipulative toy wedge together so that children can find endless ways to build, balance, stack, or nest them horizontally and vertically. Wedgits blocks appeal to all ages. No educational toy rivals the fun as the youngest artisan learns while building as high as possible&knocking them down in a noisy clatter. As your little genius grows, so do the creation possibilities with this unique toy. Use your imagination or the design booklet to form amazing structures&shapes. (Simple to Complex) Wedgits Starter Set includes 15 intriguing pieces. All Wedgits blocks are 100% compatible. Great Minds Are Built With Wedgits! Winner of over 7 Awards for Educational Value Inspire complex thinking, experimentation,&construction Refine spatial orientation, perceptual skills, dexterity, geometric understanding Offers Endless Possibilies 15 intriguing pieces for toddler hands All Wedgits are 100% compatible Ages 2-7

    (WONDERFUL)

    (Loved it!)

    (Great!!)

(Beautiful bedtime lullaby; still a favorite after five years!)

    (Good Night, Sweet Butterflies)
*wife here* I bought this book for our daughter when she was about 3-4 yrs old and kept it because it was her favorite for years. Now I read it to my son (2) and daughter sits in and she is 8. Its a dear book that does help with colors and counting but more important it fills their dreams with soothing images after a day of excitement and adventure. (daughter use to tell me she dreamed of butterflies sometimes after reading that to her at night) I think this is a must have for all families with young children. Im sure Ill be reading it to MY grandchildren.
My 3 month old loves this book with it's bright colors and sparkling butterflies, it's perfect for this age.
This is the second time I am buying this book because my 22 month old daughter loves it so much the first one got worn out. The colors are brilliant and my daughter loves butterflies. It is a great way to settle down for bed. first the butterflies go to sleep, then my daughter.
Someone gave me this book at my baby shower. Five years and two kids later, it's still a favorite! The text offers a sweet, rhyming lullaby, perfect for bedtime rituals. The die-cut pages and 3-D glittery butterflies provide counting fun and visual appeal. It teaches numbers, colors and subtraction. And it's sturdy! At first glance it seems feminine, but my very rough-and-tumble son enjoys it as well.

This is a great book -- the only gift I received that day that isn't collecting dust.

ISBN 0689856849 - Whether or not you enjoy this book will probably depend on what it is you expect from it. It is easy to become confused by the cover statement "From the creator of Ten Little Ladybugs". The creator/author of that book is Melanie Gerth, and she is also the creator of Good Night, Sweet Butterflies - but she is not the author here. The text in this case is by Dawn Bentley, illustrations by Heather Cahoon. That information, intentionally or not, is hidden away on the back cover in small letters. Ladybugs fans might find themselves disappointed.

Nine glittery plastic butterflies head off to find a place to sleep. One by one, they choose a place, until there are none left. It is time to sleep until another day arrives.

While technically a Board Book, the pages here are much thinner than the usual board book binding. That and the small, not too hard to remove butterflies (a potential choking hazard) make the book unsuitable for children under 3. There are cut-outs on the cover for all nine butterflies and each succeeding page has one less cut-out, which is a nice way to learn to count down from 9. The places the butterflies choose to sleep are color-based (the blue butterfly chooses a blue stream, the red on red roses, etc), so colors are introduced as well. The negative comes in two parts, both in the writing. The text is in rhyme, but the rhyming pattern is clunky, with long lines and no evident cadence to it. In addition, some lines are tongue twisters ("with a pink piglet and three playful pink possums"), which only makes reading the rhyme more difficult. If your child is likely to spend a lot of time on the counting, you'll take so long between pages that the rhyme issues won't matter anyway, but it's an annoyance that what is essentially a poem doesn't flow the way you expect it to. Really a nice book and a super cute idea, Butterflies is just missing something in the text.

    - AnnaLovesBooks

Babies and toddlers who loved the "real" ladybugs inTen Little Ladybugswill adore the nine sparkly, three-dimensional butterflies inGood Night, Sweet Butterflies. Each glitter-covered butterfly flits through a color-themed spread which offers a place for the little winged one to sleep: "on red roses as a red robin sings good night," is the text accompanying a psychedelic, color-saturated image of birds, flowers, and various insects. The meter of the rhyming text is a bit off, which makes it hard to read the book rhythmically, but little ones are likely to be so enthralled with the illustrations that it won’t matter. The thick, kid-friendly pages are easy to turn and hard to tear; the butterflies are securely mounted, but not impossible to remove, so it might be a good idea to keep this one for reading together. (Ages 2 to 6)--Jennifer Lindsay
    Goodnight, Sweet Butterflies

makes bedtime a fun, soothing experience for little sleepyheads. They will love the rhyming story -- and the glittery butterflies teach colors while easing children into dreamland. It's the perfect way to say good night, every night!

    (We need more John Woodens)

    (Secrets of Life)

    (Wooden's Personal Best)

    (revealing, pleasant read)

    (Good for coaches)
I was raised in Southern California and now reside in Indiana. I could not be happier that Coach Wooden also called both places his home. Though he clearly is a midwesterner at heart---as am I now---his legend truly grew in Los Angeles.

As my title indicates, we need more coaches like John Wooden here in 2008. Can you imagine what the current crop of college ballers would be like if they had a mentor and role model like Wooden? He had depth, insight, was spiritual, a reader, a thinker, etc. This was not required, but he knew all these attributes were necessary to grow "student athletes" into successful players and adults. Even a hippie like Bill Walton, the antithesis to a noble, mature person like Wooden---respects and admires "Coach." Wooden knew how to reach all. His quotes---taken from other coaches, his father and his own mind---are ones to heed. I have the Pyramid of Success on my wall at work.

He hated dunking, showboating, selfishness, hedonism, etc. He'd loathe the brainwashing and lack of civility rampant on today's college and high school campuses.

This bio spans a wonderful, rich life, leaving no stone or thought unturned; no mind or theory unchallenged or ungrown.

A remarkbale living legend, G-d bless Mr. Wooden (who is still alive at the age of 97) and all he has done for the game and collegians everywhere.

John Wooden has figured out some of the secrets of life. And he passes them on directly, in a way that can be transformational for a reader.

John Wooden is a hero of mine. His own heroes include Abraham Lincoln and Mother Theresa. Like them, he is a treasure for all of us because his life and lessons demonstrate what it means to live to "our personal best" in a way that is simple, profound and so clear.

This book should be required reading in "Human Being 101".

We grow up hearing about the importance of developing " good character", not always knowing what it is, or just how to obtain it. All of Wooden's books give his personal guidelines for developing character and living a decent life, whether we are athletes, musicians, teachers, or anything else.
Wooden's teachings have stood the test of time. His life and those he has influenced are proof of that.
I use his wisdom for myself, and I pass it on to all my students. They all know who John Wooden is. His life blesses us all.

John Wooden is one of my heroes. When I was growing up, his teams were dominant, but more importantly, they made the game beautiful to watch. After he retired at the peak of his game, he quietly stepped off the stage. With the rush of books on leadership in the 1990's through the present, it was inevitable, and overdue, that folks take time to examine Coach Wooden's approach to leadership. This has led to a cottage industry in Wooden books.

This book is short, personal and focuses on life lessons learned from the narrative of Coach's life. It doesn't attempt to be weighty, just a good read, that imparts wisdom without hitting you over the head with it. It touches on each chapter of Coach Wooden's life, and particularly shows the infuence of his father, his high school and college coaches and his growth thru experience

This is a fun, easy read that leaves the reader wiser. Highly recommend

This is a great book to help any coach of any sport get a good feel for the right way to coach young players. Teach them good life lessons and skills. It gives an insight into a great coach and even greater man.

For John Wooden's millions of fans comes a new and revealing self-portrait--the people and events that shaped his life

Sports Illustrateddeclared: "There has never been a finer coach in American sports than John Wooden. Nor a finer man." ESPN selected him as the "Greatest Coach of the 20th Century." From his birth on an Indiana tenant farm, to All-American honors at Purdue, to his historic recordsetting UCLA dynasty, John Wooden is a towering figure in 20th-century sports, and his experience and wisdom an American treasure. InMy Personal Best, Coach Wooden tells how he did it and the lessons he learned on his remarkable journey.

Pairing never-before-seen photos from Coach Wooden's private collection with his personal stories and affirmations, this book encompasses the dramatic arc of Wooden's larger-than-life achievements and experiences. As he did in his perpetual bestseller Wooden, Coach offers a wealth of biographical details, personal reflections, and a lifetime of lessons. His millions of fans will cherish this definitive pictorial history of a living sports legend.

(Finally, a great gluten-free dessert book...)

    (You'll use this book)

(Great recipes for gluten free diets)

    (Living the Sweet Life)

    (Gluten Free Gourmet)
Hey Celiacs, have you waited and waited for a cookbook with great-tasting desserts just for you? Well, this is it! Ah, it's back to the good life for me.....
Bette Hagman has published several GF cookbooks. Her earliest is somewhat out-of-date since so much has been learned about gluten-free diets since it came out. The two that get used at my house are this one (The GF Gourmet Makes Dessert) and her bread book. The recipes are clear and easy to follow; the results are excellent. You won't be disappointed.
I love this cookbook because I realize I can eat what I thought I'd have to give up. The down side is of course that it is required I cook it!
I have all of Bette Hagman's gluten free cookbooks and love this one as well. You get treated to some very helpful information about how to prepare a myriad of gluten free dishes, desserts included and how to maintain a gluten free lifestyle. This book cross references recipes in her other works; readers are sure to want to have the full collection.

For those of you who follow regimens such as South Beach, Atkins and Weight Watchers, you can still follow those logical regimens the gluten free way. Gluten free is not restrictive - in fact, it is very liberating as is the health benefits you will enjoy. How sweet is that!

I am happy to have options for eating. I have not used many recipes out of it.
From the leading expert in gluten-free cooking, more than two hundred recipes for delicious cakes, cookies, pies, and other desserts
Bette Hagman's four cookbooks have sold more than 220,000 copies and established her as the leading expert in the ever growing market of gluten-free cooking. She is the premier creator of recipes for those intolerant to gluten and for those allergic to wheat.
In the latest addition to the Gluten-free Gourmet series, Hagman turns her hand to that most loved part of the meal, dessert. customer 's review
    (Really nice little bike)
Santa got this for our little girl, age 4, for Christmas this year. Unfortunately, this bicycle is too small, but otherwise, it is a really wonderful little bike, easy to put together, all the parts were there, and we feel so bad that it's too small. But, we wrote to Santa, and Santa said his feelings would not be hurt if we got our daughter a larger bicycle, more suitable for her height, as long as she gave the first bike away to a little girl who doesn't have one, so that's what we will do. It's unfortunate that we couldn't find the same bike in size 16 inches that is pink. Found a blue one, but not the same. It would have made life a lot easier on everyone if the new bike looked the same just larger. Anyone from Huffy reading this, please make a note that manufacturing the exact same bikes in different sizes would make sense. Thanks.
This 12" bike is so sweet in a mirror pink color with multi-color streamers and handlebar pads. Also features Steel Y-style frame, steel unicrown fork, rear coaster brakes, padded seat with graphic, steel rims, 12" x 2.125" tires, training wheels, doubleguard chainguard and one piece crank. Weight capacity 88 lbs. Measures 33"H x 19"W x 28"D.
The Huffy 22037 So Sweet Girls Bike is an ideal bicycle for girls who have just learned how to ride a bike. With a vibrant pink and yellow paint job and purple handlebar streamers, this bike features an aesthetic that your little girl will be sure to approve of. The bike has small, 12-inch wheels and comes with a pair of sturdy, removable training wheels, which are intended to assist young riders and ensure maximum safety. Its steel Y-frame and padded seats are designed to perfectly accommodate children and provide them with superior comfort while riding. An exclusive double-guard chain guard prevents dangerous chain interference and wheel jamming for added safety.
