I contacted Marshalltown and to their credit they were outstanding. They sent me another one no questions asked and didn't even ask me to send the old one back. Unfortunately I now have two sanders with cupped base plates. If the plates aren't reasonably flat you cant feather seams out the way you need to. I might try to lap the edges with sandpaper and a flat surface to take down those outside edges, but that's not something I should have to do. Great customer service(a dying art)but the product leaves something to be desired.』

Turns out that the most effective way to sand drywall compound and control the dust is to simply hold the end of the shop vac hose near where you are sanding and it gets almost all the dust. really. What has worked best for me is to hold one of the circular sandpaper sheets that go on my power sander and just sand with it by hand holding the vac hose near it. The key thing (that I did not realize before destroying one shop vac from the fine dust) is to use the paper filter instead of the canister filter for sucking up drywall dust! duh. Anyway, this Marshalltown thing was ten times less effective with the dust than simply holding the vac hose.』

I have called the manufacturer to find out how to get all the dull glaze and residue off of it because it leaves my dishes the same way a cloudy film. I have tried all kinds for cleaning the inside until Glisten. I was amazed on how well it worked. I took all the cloudy residue and grim off. I was so pleased it lookes great the stuggle to get this thing cleaned was hard. We have had it for about a year and it is wonderful. She sleeps so well and wakes up with a dry nose every morning. Also, the sneezing and coughing and puffy eyes have almost disappeared. The filter covers a big enough area that it filters her room and the two rooms next to hers. Also I love the internal timer so you can set it to turn on and off at certain times each day. We keep it at 3 because this is the quietest yet biggest filter bang for your buck speed. It is also easy to assemble and change the filters. There is no strange smell like the ionizing filters have. In fact it frequently eliminates the stench of our toddler's dirty diapers! If you have serious allergies and are interested in a real Hepa filter, DO NOT waste your money on the cheaper louder versions which break or have filters which are too hard to replace, buy this one. I glued it together to see if it would work, but needn't have bothered. The light and the magnifying lens do not focus on the same place and the light is not adjustable. The quality of the plastic lenses is very poor, reminiscent of the little magnifying lenses I used to get as Cracker Jack prizes, and obscure more of the field than they magnify. The "adjustable" headband is not as represented. It is two metal wires and is not adjustable. The "instructions" consist of a small page with some diagrams and a few sentences in extremely small print and in nearly unintelligible English. Obviously poorly interpreted from a foreign language. The company's return policy is cumbersome- you have to e-mail them for a return authorization, mail the product back at your expense (and not the cheap way- you have to get a tracking number), then e-mail your tracking number to them. I'm going to try to return it, but I feel like just throwing this piece of trash where it belongs. The timer was also very hard for her to turn on because it had to be turned all the way around and if she did get it the ticking stopped within a few seconds so the frustration was repetitive. She LOVED it for the one week the door lasted but it isn't fixable and is not fun for her without a door, too much money for 1 week of use.』

There are 2 teeny tiny knobs that hold the door in place in the corners which break very easily--an extremely poor design (it even came with tape on it originally to keep the door on in transit, if that is any indication of the poor quality.) The oven is turned "on" by turning a knob which is tricky even for a grown up to manipulate (it is a small tension knob that has to be turned almost all the way around.) Once it's turned on, the whole inside glows red and it clicks for a few seconds before beeping (that part is cute.) I would definitely recommend searching for a sturdier toy brand if you are looking for something in this area.』

It is also great for the commercial handyman who travels to people's homes to do odd jobs and is neat enough in appearance to please the lady who wants the shelves in her bedroom swapped with the shelves in her closet - and a new do-dad added on to where the old do-hickey used to be hanging. Need to use it longer to see if the battery will hold a charge or die an early death. All in all, if I wanted to spend over $400, I could've bought a Dyson! Unfortunately, I got caught in the cycle of buying more things because the cost of returning everything was too high. Beware!』
