My husband got this for me after we moved. Our house has tile floors that get REALLY slick when wet, and with 2 young kids, it's not ideal. I love the fact that I can clean the floors and they are dry immediately. I love the fact I don't have to use extra chemicals. I love the fact that I can wash the pads and use them again and again. The big drawback I see is that we have a large dog who sheds A LOT. Even after I sweep there are still stray hairs on the floor which this will not pick up the way a mop would. So I basically have to sweep, steam mop and then swiffer again. I guess it still saves time in the long run, but I'm not completely sold on it yet.
I just spent about an hour trying to make the Shark steam mop work on my satillo tile kitchen floor. No good. Worked and worked and worked but it does not "mop" up the slightest spot/old snakk spill. I needed to use a sponge, not scrubber, and could remove. Also, skid marks are completely untouched. The floor is now very sticky too. Is it removing the sealer? Undaunted, I tried it on the hard wood. It is now filmy and streaked vs. a damp-mop shine. I can't even give this thing away, who would want it? Can't understand all the raves. Really wanted it to be my lifesaver. PS - tried on tile countertops -- more nothing. If you get make sure you can take back even though used once.
I almost didn't buy this product after reading all the negative reviews here. But I did, and after using it for a couple of days, I decided that Shark has marketed this thing to the wrong demographic. The marketing idea here is using steam to make floors EXTRA-clean. So of course there a lots of reviews from people who complain that it doesn't do enough.

This is not the right product for stay-at-home moms who want to make sure that their little angels grow up without ever developing immune systems or common sense. On the other hand, this is a great tool for young professionals who want a reasonable level of cleanliness and have no time. "Oh, hello, dirty spot on the floor," we say, "I think I can pencil you in for next Thursday." With this mop, a busy person can clean the bathroom or kitchen floor as soon as it needs it, not by appointment. The bathroom takes about five minutes; the kitchen, maybe fifteen.

Yeah, it doesn't gleam, but I much prefer having "mostly clean" floors all the time to the old cycle of clean-dingy-dirty-filthy-clean floors.

Also -- the handle is definitely flimsy, but it's been fine so far. The mop weighs three pounds, versus seven for the sturdier Bissell. I think that the light weight of the Shark mop is a big factor in these snap cleanings I've started to do, so I haven't looked at the Bissell.
This mop stopped working after 5 minutes of use.
Whomever designed the switch/handle, should be fired.
Don't waste your money!
I have been wanting this mop for some time now, and finally got one today!! I was really impressed at how quickly the thing could be put together. The steam heats up very quickly so there's virtually no prep before you mop. The mop is a bit flimsy, but as long as you don't throw it around you should be fine.

It's very easy to push, and removed stains. I have a cat and it seemed to hold on to any of her stray fur that might be on the floor. Best part is it uses no chemicals and the pads can be used over and over again. Overall I am very impressed and actually can't wait to mop again!!!

I am extremely pleased with my recent purchase of this Hoover product. It operates beautifully and does an excellent job. The directions are precise, accurate. and easy to follow.
I purchased this model and find it to be a great machine. Seems heavy/bulky, when stationary, but moves easily when running. Really cleans well too. Picks up a fair amount of debris and lint when using, so it takes a few minutes to clean all parts after use, but worth the trouble so it's ready to go again. Dis-assemble carefully following directions, but not hard after you've done it.. then just rinse under tap with a sink collection strainer in-place, so debris doesn't go into drain pipes.
I love this machine. After only ever having Bissell machines, I finally decided to replace my 3rd broken one with with this Hoover. First, the suction on this machine is much stronger. The carpet is dry in no time and seems cleaner. Second, the machine comes apart for cleaning. You can remove the brushes, front assembly etc...very easily-This comes in handy when dog hair is an issue. Third, you don't need to lug around the hose assemby all the time since it's removable. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a reliable rug shampooer.
I love my new Hoover machine because there are no belts to change like on the Bissell models.

Ok, here is my experience with the Hoover Dual V F7412-900. (Same as F7411-900) My wife and I purchased a 1300 sq foot house about 8 months ago. The carpet was new when we moved in. (Builder grade). After 8 months it was beyond time to clean it. I was going to rent a rug doctor, but was not excited about lugging it home. My friend offered to loan us his Bissell pro heat steam cleaner. We cleaned the carpets and were so happy with the results, we decided to buy one. When I went out to buy it, I noticed that they changed the design, and the seal was now on the suction tube. I did not think that this was a good idea, nor did I like the bladder idea. So I researched the net to see what I could find. I found good reviews about the Hoover so I thought I would check them out. I liked the dual tank, and on the model I chose it has the separate cleaner tank. So you can get a good idea, let me say that I cleaned the carpet 2 days ago with my friends Bissell. My water exits the tap at 120 degrees. I used about¾ gallon of Wal-mart pet formula and did not rinse with water only. I have three dogs by the way. I vacuumed with a Dyson animal first. When I cleaned the carpet today with the Hoover, the water was filthy dirty. I only used the rinse cycle because I didn't want to put more soap on the carpet. Even though the carpet looked and felt clean, it was noticeably cleaner with the Hoover. This cleaner does what it claims to do. Would the Bissell have pulled up the extra dirt on the second rinse? Maybe, but judging by the mud and dirt in the recovery tank, I don't think so. CONS: Like many comments before me, the tool caddy is worthless. I personally don't care since I will hang it in the closet. I have not used the tools yet, so I cannot comment on them. The only other thing I noticed was that 3 times the handle for the recovery tank flipped open when I rubbed the couch or wall. The suction keeps the lid on tight, but it was a little annoying. BOTTOM LINE: If the tool caddy is important to you, this IS NOT for you. If you want a GREAT steam cleaner for the money this IS for you. I would buy this again, and recommend it to anyone.

My wife purchased this machine for me for Father's Day since I had been complaining about how much I spend at Starbucks. I had been looking at the different Keurig machines, and the other single serve brewers (senseo, Tassimo, etc.) My wife decided for me, and did a great job. I didn't need a water resevoir, because I am the only coffee drinker in my house, and the smaller footprint made it the perfect size for our limited counter top space. The coffee is not quite up to par with Starbucks, but at about 40 cents a cup (versus the 4 bucks for my cappucinos)it is more than good enough. I couldn't believe how easy it was to use. We have an "old school" coffee maker, but I only use that when guests come over, because it is way too much work for just one cup. This thing gets used every morning before work, and sometimes after dinner. It is a bit weaker than I like (being a life-long espresso drinker), but still better than 90% of the coffee I get in restaurants, and most people homes. And if you like a particular flavor, you know that is what you will get every time as there is no measuring to mess up.

The machine itself looks pretty well built, and you would think it should sell for more, and that is because it should sell for more. Green Mountain (the maker of the Keurig) sells the machines at virtually no profit, so that you buy into the system, they then make their money off the K-Cups (I read somewhere they make about 7 cents a cup on the branded stuff, and a bit more on their own). And if you are worried that the machine will become discontinued and you won't be able to find k-cups, rest assured that is very unlikely as they are the biggest seller among these systems, and that margin should only grow as they just struck a deal with Wal-Mart to sell their products, and there is a Cuisinart K-cup system in the works.
This Brewing System is great. It is fast, clean and makes great coffee. It has saved me a lot of money I used to buy coffee out at least once a day and that is a very expensive habit. Now that I have this brewing system I make my own cofee. I also bought my son one for his birthday and he is very happy with it.

Like many others, I have a B60 at home and the B30 is my second Keurig. I actually like the B30 better. I'm the only coffee drinker both at home and in my office. The reservoir feature is something in my big Keurig that I actually don't like - since it's just me and I only drink at home on the weekends, I end up washing it every time I make a cup. The little machine sits at work - just grab a bottle of water in the morning and I have a lovely little cup of coffee a few minutes later. I hit brew and then turn my computer on so I don't even notice how long it takes for it to complete. Also, in my opinion, the coffee tastes better. I don't see the value in the larger sizes in my big Keurig because to me, the coffee becomes way too weak. Now, that said, I would not put an Extra Bold k-cup in the mini - that is too strong for me. Anyway, for silence, convenience, size, price, etc. I wish I had two minis and not spent the extra on the larger for the house....
I had purchase the Keurig B30 mini Single-serve Brewing System for my wife we took it with us on vacations and she was happy that we did. she enjoy the way it brews coffee with the cup. it's just the right size for coffee when you only want one of cup coffee. it was the thing we ever did and we have the bigger one at home. Thank You.
I'm very impressed with this product. It's very easy to use and produces an excellent cup of coffee every time. I've used the k-cups as well as the "my k cup" attachment and they're quite easy to switch between. Literally anyone can make a very good cup of coffee with this machine. I strongly recommend purchasing the "my k cup" attachment as you can then use your own freshly ground beans to produce excellent coffee on the cheap with no waste. I really can't say enough about this product, if you're thinking about purchasing a Keurig do yourself a favor and pick one up right away.

Jet JW1007 4-Inch Blast Gate

These Woodstock International blast gates are identical to the ones I began using over 20 years ago. This same blast gate is sold by countless vendors; Jet is just one of many.

They are inexpensive and work acceptably, although they leak a little air when closed.

They have three parts, the two halves (glued together) with the movable gate in the middle. The two halves on all of my Woodstock gates eventually came unglued. Some lasted a couple of years, and one lasted at least a decade before separating. Rather than replace them, I repaired each gate using pop-rivets or 8-32 machine screws&nuts to hold the halves together. Except for this issue, none of my plastic blast gates ever "broke".

The gate's ABS plastic body is smooth and each male side is slightly tapered. Because of that taper, a clamped-on air hose tends to slip off, unless screws or other methods are used, to keep it attached. See Customer Images. It would have made sense to taper maybe the first 1/4" so it slides into a duct or hose, but tapering the entire male fitting end was not a great idea.

I have a blast gate for the table saw, sliding compound miter saw, planer, sander, band saw, jointer, and drill press. Unlike other reviewers though, none of my Woodstock blast gate has EVER filled up with dust or debris to the point that it stopped working or needed cleaning. Perhaps that's because the dust collector is a 3-hp 1800 cubic feet minute unit; and the air moves so fast, it doesn't have a chance to clog a blast gate? Also, the grooves in a blast gate are more likely to clog if the gate handle faces down.

I rate them at two stars, since a customer shouldn't have to repair a product to keep it working, and the tapered male ends allow hoses to slip off.
THEY WORK FINE BUT FILL UP WITH DUST PARTICLES. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THEM OFF THE HOSES AND CLEAN THEM WITH A SMALL DRILL BIT. GET ONE THAT IS SELF CLEANING. WORTH THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE
Blastgates require periodic cleaning. Problem: chips collect in the two channels where the gate slides and as you close the gate, the chips get packed into the channels and the gate won't fully close. The metal version blastgate has screws and disassembles for cleaning. These plastic gates must be broken at the welds. Then what? Don't waste your money and time on these cheap plastic gates. For a few dollars more, the metal blastgates are well worth it as they are assembled with screws.
I have blast gates permanently mounted on my saws, and use the Jet quick-disconnect fittings and flex hose to connect the tools to the dust collector. Works great. Can't comment on the gate plugging as I never close it.
For $2 each how can you go wrong. I used these in a garage dust collection system. I installed 6 of these gates. They are a bit fragile and will come apart easily front to back. one gate is installed at an output with no solid pipe attached to it and it quickler split apart. The other gates are installed between PVC pipes which provide support and I have not had a problem with those, either from breaking or from the gates not closing.
For the fragileness I give it 3 starts otherwise not reason it shouldnt have 5. I will be replacing the gate that broke with an aluminum version.

If I find a good deal on AMAZON it seems like they always end up cancelling my order. What a slap in the face!!! Here you go and just when you can't wait to get the item they send you an email stating..."sorry there was a pricing error" or some other BS.
Amazon is not worth the frustration. I have had my order cancelled three times and twice they could not ship on time making me wait 2 extra weeks.
Paid for 5 only received one. This item is still mis-marked even after someone else had this problem.
They sent me this clamp as pictured. It clearly says 5 pack. I received 1 clamp only. After returning it they said they would send me a new shipment with 5. Again I received only 1 clamp. Then I tried to return it for my money back and they responded by sending me another shipment. I am willing to bet it will only have 1. This is NOT customer service. It's a Pain and after waiting over a Month I still don't have what I need. I had to find an alt. to fix my project and these will be useless to me! I will never buy from amazon again.
This wire clamp has the most holding power for all types of hose.
This is a nice simple piece of critical equipment. If it didn't work properly, it could cause a lot of hassle (air gaps / hoses coming off). The two wires fit easily over the end of the hose and seated snuggly on each side of the hose groove and then clamped up nice with just a phillips screwdriver. The wires strattle the ribbing on the hose, creating a nice tight fit. I put on several of these wire clamps without one problem, air leak or lose hose.

The steel band clamps just did not stack up. They did not hold as well, or go on as easy (stripped the threads). Go with the wire clamps.

This is the greatest little vac that I have ever had, I own an Oreck upright, a GE electric broom, a Hoover tank , and a Rhoomba, and this little one out does every one on these and is a lot smaller and easier to handle. I bought for $39.00 in Souderton PA Outlet Store,after my sister in law and I were kidding around and started vaccumning the store floor, It worked like a charm. So I got one for my son who has a golden retriever who lives inside with all his hair!!, it did such a great job on carpet, stairs and floor, I went back and purchased one for myself to bring home to Georgia. This little vac and peanut butter will keep me going for years. You want regret this purchase. This one is a keeper.

Great product,but it's been discontinued by B&D for about two years.My second one started going only into it's 10th month. So they have been sitting on the shelves and the batteries die so you don't get the same charge.Hope you keep your receipt it has a 2 year warranty!

one of the handiest little gadgets for the home.you still need a prpoer vaccum but this is just great when you cant be bothered to lug out the vaccum!I have 3 of them around the house as I have dogs and the hairs are everywhere.the dustbuster by itself seems to have more suction than thr vaccum part but its still good. definitely recommend.
I bought this vacuum based on the reviews it received and I was very disappointed. For a dustbuster it is very loud. Much louder than what I was looking for. As loud as a full on heavy duty vacuum. Considering it does not pick up much on the carpet or the floor, I can't imagine why it has to make so much noise. I returned it after one use. The filter was completely clogged with dust after the one use and will need to be cleaned after each use. Don't waste your money on this one. If you are looking for a lightweight vacuum for the floor and short carpets consider the Swivel Sweeper touchless. It works great picking up dust, sand, dirt, food off our hardwood floors and does a light cleaning on our wool rug. It is not perfect, but it works just as well as sweeping yourself.

The Arm and Hammer portion part is a little bag on the front center on the filter. I didn't find any noticeable benefit from it. Baking Soda sprinkled on the floor makes more of a difference. This was a difficult filter to find in my local stores so I am glad when I found it here.
It is a necessary filter for the vacuum. This one performs the task for which it was designed well. Can be cleaned a couple of times before replacement is required. Take it out and knock out the debris from time to time to extend the life and increase effectiveness of the filter. Amazon price is generally good.
After a couple of minutes running the vacuum with this filter attached, the room starts to smell really bad. The first few times, I didn't quite realize where it was coming from. Now I know, and can hardly wait to get a new filter and throw this one away. Yuck!
I am retired and I love to do things around the house. Vacuuming is one of the jobs that I almost always do myself.

Unfortunately I have an allergy to dust; if I stir up dust it always makes me start sneezing. As a results I am always interested in things that reduce dust in the air.

I've used the Eureka 4870 now for over two years and have been very pleased with the job it does. One of the things I appreciate about it is its ability to confine the dust it picks up. This HEPA filter is an important part of that ability.

I mentioned in a review on the bags that are recommended with the Eureka 4870 that the bag seems to do an excellent job. That coupled with this filter has eliminated any sneezing for me when I vacuum the house.

Another interesting result of the bag's efficiency is the HEPA filter seems to gather dust very slowly. I've checked it regularly and it seems to stay relatively clean even after repeated vacuumings.

The combination of the bag and HEPA filter have really impressed me, particularly the fact that I can vacuum the house now without any sneezing at all.
I am very happy with my Eureka for an upright and these filters work very well.

I just had hard wood floors put in throughout my house. After sliding on the floors due to the other wood floor greasy products, I tried Bona Kemi after reading several reviews. What a great product! My floors look wonderful and they are not slick. Love this.
I was dissapointed in the liquid cleaning product. It left a film on hardwood floor which is what I was attempting to eliminate.
Bona is by far the best product I have used for my hardwood floors. The microfiber pad does a great job of picking up dirt. The handle is sturdy also easily adjusts to any length.
This kit was given to me by a friend who's family owns a hardwood flooring company when we bought our house. He told me to "only us this on your floors, I have a vested interest in keeping them in good shape."
Everyone who comes over mentions how great our floors look, and they ask if they require a lot of maintenance. This system requires very little effort.
I think the best part of the product is the duster. I've tried cheaper versions and none of them seem to do as good of a job. This might not matter to everyone, but we are trying to sell our house and want the floors to be as perfect as possible.
I buy this as a housewarming gift for my friends whenever someone moves to a place with hardwood floors.
This mop works well, both with the dust mop attachment as well as the regular floor cleaner. It swivels well and gets under low couches too. I am happy with the purchase.

This product was broken when I got it and it has a good suction on it, but it doesn't work as well as the canned pressured air to clean a keyboard.
This product is an compact vaccum cleaner that don't needs battery it can be runned through usb port on your lap or computer.
The item was delivered in good condition, so no complaints there.

Also, when plugged in an turned on, it did make some noises that conjured up the image of a tiny, not-working model of a vacuum-cleaner.

So what am I complaining about? I guess I was hoping to receive a device that actually DOES catch some of the breadcrumbs and nasty fingernail tips lodged between my keys. Even a sucked up mote would have lifted my spirits - but alas! No such thing happened, and when I tried to turn it off, the switch broke.

So there's $11,90 I'll never see again (if you include shipping, that is). At least I can scare my cat with it...
The above reviewers are right. This thing simply does nothing. Got one as a stocking stuffer. It's going in the trash.
bottom line - does not work. you plug it in, it makes a whirring noise. no vacuum!

Great product for hardwood floors. I have Brazilian Koa and am very concerned about using a mop or anything else on them. This product worked great.

I bought the Tidy Time Vacuum because my 2-year old daughter tries so hard to take my actual vacuum out of my hands whenever I am cleaning the house. I would have let her continue to take my vacuum - believe me - if it weren't too heavy for her, which frustrated her quite a bit. She enjoys the Tidy Time Vacuum a lot, but usually only "plays" with it when I'm cleaning - in other words, for her, it really is about doing what mommy is doing, vs. a toy she plays with regularly on her own. The vacuum itself is quite realistic in terms of look and sound - there are tiny white beads just inside the handheld component that move about as the vacuum "whirrs" - and the vacuum actually works! I've had to clean it out several times which, by the way, can be tricky to do as you have to stick your fingers through a smallish opening to pull out whatever has been sucked up into it. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase of this vacuum as it serves the specific purpose I had in mind.

I bought this shopvac - model QPL650 - especially because it could be made into a HEPA vacuum for construction cleanup. It was used outdoors and in my workshop and gave adequate suction. I used an approved HEPA filter with paper bags for cleanup of paint chips, sawdust, drywall dust, dirt, etc. and this vac worked as well as any I have used. The drum design with wheels works well and is easy to empty. The tools are the same as most other shopvacs.

HOWEVER the red pushbutton switch began to misbehave very soon after purchase and would never consistently start or stop. A cheap/bad design which I replaced with a heavy duty $5.00 toggle switch. Now after two years of ordinary use the motor has burnt out struggling with a small amount of carpet debris. It will cost $78.00 to replace. I would not recommend this powertool.
All my life I have dragged vacs around by the hose, with small caster wheels catching on the cord followed by the whole thing toppling over with nasty expletives following in short order. This is the best. Powerful suction, three stable independent wheels, two of them big enough to provide stability, and the accessories compartment and handle make it all an excellently engineered design. For general use, the 2.5 inch hose and attachments are not what you want, so you will need a 1.25 inch hose with a "posi-lok" connection and 1.25 inch accessories. The hose with the special Shop-Vac connector not available at Amazon, but the Shop-Vac web site has them.
It works well in my shop. It picks up everything except the nails. the only issue I have with it is that it will build up with static electricity and give you a sharp shock. The bags and filter are easy to remove and change.
I was happy with the shop vac and the price was unbeatable
I received this unit yesterday, exactly on time and as ordered. The unit came complete and there were no missing parts.

Minor assembly is required and a couple of sockets and screwdrivers will make short work of it. The instructions are multiple parts for multiple machines but it is easy to determine which section applies to you. Assembly was a snap and took me 20 minutes.

The unit comes with a filter bag for collection of incoming debris. It also arrives with a filter for the exhaust port. I installed the HEPA filter which is an option.

The unit also has onboard storage of the tools which is a nice, handy feature. The power cord easily wraps around the top of the unit where there is a groove intended for just this purpose.

The unit is quite powerful and draws dust and dirt towards the nozzle from a good 5 inches away. The crevice tools works great at getting into the grooves in my garage floor.

A very nice feature on this machine, I think, is that the exhaust for the unit vents through the top of the machine, not the side. There's nothing worse then pulling a vacuum cleaner into a dirty area only to see the dirt take off in the opposite direction because of the way the exhaust vent is positioned. Having the vent blowing vertical assures this effect doesn't happen.

I am very satisified with the purchase. The vacuum works like a charm and Amazon's service was excellent.

I bought it to suck debris from the bottom of our pond. It does OK, but will often stop b/c it cannot pump the water out as fast as it sucks it in. Perhaps the algae and junk in the tank make it harder to pump out the water. It can suck up a fair amount of algae, leaves, etc, but it is not an industrial size motor.
As a vacuum (dry) it does fine.
It's good.
The best house hold vaccum I have ever bought and used. Still have not used it in wet buit I am sure that I will work.
Ordered this heavy-duty unit after torrential rains overwhelmed my consumer-grade unit. Confronted with world's worst instructions -- apparent attempt to cram multi-lingual instructions onto a single sheet of paper. After finally getting the beast assembled, pushed the switch to test it out and ... nothing. Switch seems to be faulty, but Shop-Vac customer service says to return the entire unit to seller.

Will update this review if I ever get satisfaction.

Wish I could change my rating to 3 stars. Shop-Vac came through with a new power unit to replace the one with a faulty switch.

The instructions still suck.
I highly recomend this for water pickup. I bought this after getting water in the basement after an early snow thaw this January. I tried at first to use a 5 gallon wet/dry vac but I found it not to be practical as I needed to keep emptying it out and after 20 times I was ready to give up. I bought this 14 gallon with the water pump built in and was able to pump it to a drain with a garden hose attached. This was so much easier and I was able to save my back and hours of time. I have not tested it as a dry vac so I can only give my opinion on water pickup.Also it is very quiet compared to the 5 gallon vac that I have.
I bought this unit after carefully reviewing the market. It does have plenty of power and it is quiet for it's size. I would however recommend buying the optional 1-1/4" hose kit in order to take full advantage of this vacuums horsepower. After assembling the vacuum, I was disappointed by how extremely large it really is. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy this vacuum with the intention of using it inside a finished home. It's just too big for that. You cannot easily carry it up and down stairs and it just barely rolls through a standard doorway.
The tools do not fit in the storage bin and the cord will not wrap around the hooks they provide....very poor design.
I am exchanging this vacuum for the 8-gallon size shop vac.

Finally, the feature we've all wished for--this Shop-Vac will pump out up to 6 gallons per minute, up to 50 feet vertically, so you'll never lug a heavy, sloshing canister up the basement stairs again. It's perfect for basements that flood, washing machines and drains that overflow, and cleaning the pool floor at season's end. It's a great innovation: Just attach a garden hose (not included) to the receptacle, and you can pump out while you're still vacuuming. The 5.5 hp motor lives up to its "super quiet" rating, yet moves material, wet or dry, like a powerhouse. There's a nice array of accessories, including a crevice tool, squeegee, and two extension wands. Though the unit is large, it maneuvers easily, thanks to anti-tip casters, rugged top and side handles, and, best of all, a locking nut that keeps the intake hose secure on the unit, even when you pull it by the hose. We also like the easy-reach on-off switch right on top of the unit. While it would be great in a workshop for sawdust or a garage for cleanup, this unit really shines on the wet side of things.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

While the philosophical discussion about void space and the vacuum had been going on since the time of Aristotle, it was the Scholastics that placed God at the center of the argument. To them if God was infinite, then He needed infinte space in which to occupy. Newton agreed with this argument. But Duns Scotus and later Leibniz showed that God's presence was not needed; He could act by His will alone. Thus God was removed from space without charges of atheism being leveled. "With God's departure, physical scientists finally had an infinite, three-dimensional, void frame within which they could study the motion of bodies without the need to do theology as well." An interesting look at a fascinating subject.
The primary objective of this study is to provide a description of the major ideas about void space within and beyond the world that were formulated between the fourteenth and early eighteenth centuries. The second part of the book - on infinite, extracosmic void space - is of special significance. The significance of Professor Grant's account is twofold: it provides a comprehensive and detailed description of the scholastic Aristotelian arguments for and against the existence of void space; and it presents (again for the first time) an analysis of the possible influence of scholastic ideas and arguments on the interpretations of space proposed by the nonscholastic authors who made the Scientific Revolution possible. The concluding chapter of the book is unique in not only describing the conceptualizations of space proposed by the makers of the Scientific Revolution, but in assessing the role of readily available scholastic ideas on the conception of space adopted for the Newtonian world.

This is a great book any young person that loves the word "sucks" or is interesting in science. It is a fun read and lets kids get away with saying "Sucks" over and over. This book remains a favorite with my teenage sons (and me!). It is a gift I give to inquisitive children of friends and colleagues.
This book has everything that appeals to boys: cool pictures, disgusting and strange trivia, it (really) sucks, and it uses the word suck a whole lot! In reality, it is a great non-fiction book on the science of things that "suck," like vacuums, suction cups, gravity, and even France's poop-sucking street cleaners. I brought this book to a teacher in-service I taught on engaging boys in reading; many of them asked where I found it and if they could borrow it for their students and/or sons. Unfortunately, it's out of print, which is why I am so glad I was able to find it used and at such a great price! I will likely buy more of them to make available to the school libraries in my district.
The publishers of this book came up with a great and very unique idea for a cover (it has little suckers on it which enable it to stick to surfaces) as well as catchy title which definitely grabs your attention and probably convinces a lot of people to purchase it. Unfortunately great marketing personnel may accomplish sensational outcomes, but not employing the same degree in talent for authors makes this book a novelty yes, but not much else. The information on the actual pages is pretty simple and the style of writing not very entertaining at all. If you want interesting and entertaining or even 'cool' in the eyes of children writing style for this type of picture book get Youch! It Bites by Trevor Day or check out the Informania series, as if a reader whether a kid or adult is entertained along the way they are more likely to read the whole book and have the info they read actually sink in and retained. Also Great Myth Conceptions by Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, Ripley's Believe It or Not! Creepy Stuff or the Horrible Histories series give more information and are more interesting than this book.
