(Apartment Vac)

(Works well, but haven't used it a lot)

(Great Product)

(Great vacuum, especially for the price)

(WOW!)
I'm very satisfied with the Eureka handheld vacuum. I live in an aparment with mostly hardwood floors so this is used for a loft area that measures about 9 X 6 feet... It's loud but it does the job!

So far I'm pleased with this unit. It seems to work well and does what it states. You have to clean the filter a lot, each time you use it - but it seems to clean well. I've not used it a lot but I'd purchase again...so far so good....
This is a great little product. It works much better than any little dustbuster and the brush head really helps to pick up stuff. My cat hair on the couch and stairs dont stand a chance. The hose and tool are convenient. My only complaint is the storage of the cord is poorly engineered and easily slips off the unit when you are trying to store it and there is no way to unroll just what you need. Basically it is all or nothing, meaning if I want to use it I must unroll more cord than I care to roll back up. I wish it had a self retracting cord or a better way to store the cord. If it werent for this cord issue it would get 5 stars.
I was looking for a hand-held vacuum and wanted to purchase a Dyson, since I love the floor model that I have. Bought I was put off by the price. Decided to give the Eureka 71B a try and I have to say that it is awesome. Much better than what I was expecting. The bristles for carpet work especially well. Have also used it for my car and furniture and have had incredible results. Can't recommend this enough!
My euro pro shark died and I did not think I could ever be happy with another hand-held vacuum. I was wrong. This one is so much more powerful and easy to use. So many reviews say it is heavy - compared to a dust vac yes compared to another hand held like my shark not heavy at all. It is so easy to use and it is amazingly powerful. Works on Stairs and cleaning up corners, it does an awesome job on our sofas getting the cat hair. I highly recommend this vacuum. I also love how compact it is and how all the attachments stay attached. Easy to store and carry from room to room.
Hand-held but very powerful, this Eureka model eliminates the hassle of lugging around a full-size vacuum for cleaning car upholstery, sofas, and carpeted stairs. A long 20-foot cord (which wraps for storage) provides good reach, as does the deluxe hose that stretches to three times its length. With the crevice tool on the end of the hose, this vacuum reaches into all kinds of tight places. And, with two motors, one to power the revolving brush and one for suction, the 5.5 amp vacuum cleans deeply.

One of Eureka's innovations is the Riser Visor, a clear plastic cover that stays down for cleaning horizontal surfaces and flips up so the revolving brush can reach the vertical carpet on stair risers. There's no bag to change, just a filter and clear plastic dust cup to shake out when necessary.--Ann Bieri

(Good smell, cleans well)

(Hoover Carpet/Upholster Detergent)

(Good)

(Pleasantly Pleased)

(Works Very Well)
Works like it says it should. Smells fresh, not overbearing, just a fresh and clean smell.
This stuff is great! Smells clean. Gets up stains that I NEVER thought would come out. Highly recommended.
The product was good and thank you for your time and convinience and have a wonderful day. Overall the product was great, i use it maybe once a month on a daily cycle.
I ordered this product with the Hoover Steam Cleaner. I am very pleased with how well they work together. I have lived in my apartment for four years and never cleaned the carpet. I used this product with the steam cleaner and the carpet looks like it did the day I moved in.
I purchased this detergent to go along with my Hoover Steamvac All Terrain. The detergent has a pleasant smell, and the carpet was spotless once I was done steamcleaning. I followed the manufacturer's instructions and also pretreated spots with Hoover's spray spot and stain remover.

My only complaint about this detergent is that it is so pricey, not just through Amazon (which is usually the cheapest), but in general. I am going to be using a LOT of this stuff. Thanks to a tip that someone else wrote in their review, I'll be watching for the "buy 2, get one free" promotion from Amazon in the future.

(Miele bags)

(vacuum bags)

(Great for the price)

(Wrong Product sent)

(Perfect fit)
Much better price than from my local retailer who always seems to be out of stock.
Product arrived exactly as advertised and within specified delivery time.
Would do business with this vendor again.

Bags and filters are for the Miele vacuum I have. For the price, you can't go wrong!! I will be buying more when these run out.
I purchased the Miele bag and they sent me the new Miele Bag called HyClean. The new product includes one less bag and thats why I did not want it. The picture on Amazon was for the old bags.

Update: I called them and explained this to them and they agreed to send me another bag to cover the one short. They have updated their images but it seems it did not flow to Amazon yet. I give them credit for addressing this problem.

I purchased these vacuum bags to fit an ancient Miele vacuum cleaner, and they fit perfectly. The product was delivered immediately and was exactly as specified.
Mieles new HyClean FJM Bags provide superior dust and particle retention with its 9 layers of filtration. The interior baffles help to spread all the particles evenly while the spring loaded clasp closes immediately when the bag is removed to keep everything inside. Each box includes four bags and the basic filters for your Miele Vacuum.

(A True Nostalgic Treasure!!)

(A Great Soundtrack For a Great Movie!)
This movie, "The Brave Little Toaster", has been a part of my life ever since i was a toddler. This mean i will still watch it with great enjoyment even at the age of 23. My neices and nephews also love watching it with me. The one thing that made this movie so epic for me, was the score. Even as a little girl i thought the score (not including the songs) was very intense, and strong and it alsmost seemed like it was made for a live action adult movie. David Newman has come from amazing stock! he's the son of Alfred Newman ("The Greatest Story Ever Told"), he's the brother of Thomas Newman ("Finding Nemo" and "American Beauty") and he's the couisn of Randy Newman ("Toy Story" and "Monsters, Inc.") and all these relative have a score that tell amazing stories and not just go well with the movie. i began my search for this score in high school where i encountered it as "unavaiable" and as the expensive "collectable". i vowed that i would scrimp and save until i could have it. i would regularly check up on it to make sure i wouldn't lose this potential prize. Well, i am very proud to say, that I'm the Collector of Childhood Films and Movie Soundtracks (80's and 90's Division) that got this copy of "The Brave Little Toaster" for only 20$!! This was the most perfect splurge i've ever made and it will be well loved amongst my collection! ^_^
This is probably one of the most complete scores you will ever find for an item, and the songs are all well-written and unique from each other. I will review a few specific tracks:

1. Main Title-The Brave Little Toaster has one of the creepiest intros, panning through the dark woods to find an empty cabin full of seemingly lifeless appliences. This haunting track works very well with it.

3. Blanket's Dream-I'm not keen on them leaving in the dialogue here, as you don't get the whole fantasy scene unless you've seen it. Still, Lampy and Radio's amusing lines are here, which is good.

4. The Air Conditioner Blows-For anyone who was terrified of this scene as a kid, this frantic track does the whole thing justice, with a grim ending.

6. Again, the dialogue and sound effects are left in, but they actually help the humor in this track. Lampy's voice is awsome.

8. City of Light-This is my favorite of all the songs. It's a bright and optimistic ballad-ish song when the appliences set out. They're all good singers, even though Lampy speaks a few of his lines. Very catchy.

10. The Pond-This one has to be heard to be believed. It's sound effects of the pond create lovely music, and the highlight is the opera singing fish (don't ask).

11. Toaster's Dream-I just have to say, this is a really scary track to accompany the scene that probably scared me the most when I was younger. That clown...

19. It's a 'B' Movie-This is a spooky number, and will remind you of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Preformed by the junkshop appliences (and a bit by the core group), it's the first showstopper.

22. Into the City-A Beautiful instrumental version of City of Light.

23. Cutting Edge-A techno number sung by the mean appliences that replaced the old ones. It has great lyrics and sounds just like some commercials from that era.

25. Worthless-A disco style song belted out by the poor cars at the junkyard before they all meet their "deaths" at a trash compactor. Catchy and sad at the same time, and a favorite of many.

26. Finale-A seven minute long song. Ranges from hopeful to frantic to a happy ending.

27. End Title-A very happy song to end the soundtrack.

Buy it now. It's everything you've ever dreamed of on the edge...and more!

(Perfect.)
I stumbled across this album searching for an Aaron Sutcliffe album, but this caught my eye instead. Subspace normally has very good groups. So I gave it a listen and the first song I heard was "Your whole life is leading up to this." I fell in love instantly. I don't think there are enough words to explain how beautiful this album is. I've always been a sucker for powerful lyrics and synths.

A Body of Work Where Grand Pop Melodies Collide with Cool Grooves, Gothica and Infectious Big Beats While Lyrically Merging Nordic Melancholia, Twisted Love Songs and the Suspense of Motion Picture Thriller Entitled "Your Whole Life is Leading Up to This".

(Do not buy this album.)

(Really really really good)

(YES!!!)

(Debut full-length album from the Blow)
This album is absolutely horrible. I wish that I would not have wasted my money on it. It is not nearly as good as the album with "pile of gold" on it.
Way back when this album first came out The Blow performed it in the basement of my dorm at college. This album is actually a story which runs through (i think it's) one summer that the narrator experienced. Each song is a story, and relates to the album as a whole. The album is best in the context of a live performance since each track is explained as to it's relation to the whole, but without context it is still stinkin' good.

gotta say, i love it.

Keep and open mind, and promise you will like this album.
Kheala makes very unique music, which I find to be immensely refreshing. And jesus christ, What Tom Said About The Girls should have SOARED up the charts, but life just isn't fair.

It's an audacious album that begins with the musical question"How Naked Are We Gonna Get?"and The Concussive Caress by The Blow (the newest manifestation of Khaela Maricich after Get the Hell Out of the Way of the Volcano) is audacious indeed. But no one is more surprised at the fact that I am reviewing this album positively than myself, considering that my first introduction to Maricich as a solo artist (sidestepping her vocal appearances on various Microphones recordings) in The Blow was via the Invisible Shield compilation, on which her"The Democracy of Small Things"(originally from the Bonus Album EP) appears. It quickly became one of the few songs I would invariably skip and Maricich became known around my household as"the girl who talks to her molecules."Luckily, I had an open enough mind to approach The Concussive Caress on its own merits--once I determined that"The Democracy of Small Things"was not featured.

The Concussive Caress isn't your average electronic pop album. It requires a little attention be paid and does not hold with common song titling conventions. Track 3 isn't titled at all and two songs--"'Sweetheart'"and"Gravity (Pauline's Response to Amy)"--expand over two consecutive tracks each. Timing isn't a consideration, either, with four of the fifteen tracks coming in at considerably less than one minute and Track 15 figuring at over ten minutes (if you include the hidden track at the end of the album). However, as with many K artists, once I got over the sheer oddity of the album, I was able to settle back and enjoy it as music.

"How Naked Are We Going to Get?"is bold in any form, with lyrics that touch on unspoken thoughts, including the idea that one can"remember the route to her heart from her thighs."All this is backed by a droning undertone and the occasional high-pitched accompaniment to Maricich's sweetly alluring voice that shows itself to be malleable to any situation. This groove is broken by"Chase Dream,"with knocks its way in with the side of a drum and the staccato delivery of"I get it, got it, get it get it, got it"for 26 seconds, followed quickly by an untitled track featuring a barely tuneful guitar and drums for 22 seconds. Strangely enough, these interludes add to the narrative flow somehow that I understand but can't explain.

Pop craftsmanship comes to the fore in"A Night Full of Open Eyes,"with a sound that is quite familiar with the necessities of top 40 radio. The second part of"Sweetheart"is another standout, almost purely due to its conciseness and lyrics:

He called me Doll Eyes
He called me Sunrise
He called me Hearty Thighs
He called me Super Size
He called me Heat Lamp
He called me Summer Camp
He called me...just that once and then he never called again.

Khaela's courageous (and, I must add, almost entirely successful) experimentation with different genres on The Concussive Caress is epitomized by the slow, groovy rap goodness of"What Tom Said about Girls."It is easily my favorite track on the album, not least because she really gets into the mind of this mostly unlikable character and shows his cockiness truly and satirically, making him sympathetic in the process."Nothing"didn't strike me as very memorable at first, but eventually worked its way into the folds of my brain and emerges at unconventional times--strange for a track without a chorus to speak of.

Throughout the album, we are introduced to snippets from the Karicich's recent narrative opera, Blue Sky vs. Night Sky and if these songs are any indication, a full recording of this opera would be an event, indeed. As it is, we are merely teased with snippets of the whole storyline."Come On Pauline (Amy's Cassette for Pauline),""Gravity (Pauline's Response to Amy),"and"What Amy Heard in Her Mother's Voice Played Backwards"are only the most obviously titled ones of this selection. Based on their lyrical content, I'm assuming that"What Tom Said About Girls,""'Sweetheart,'""Where I Love You,"and"A Night Full of Open Eyes"are also part of this cycle and these are some of the highest points on The Concussive Caress. But even so, this album as it is could well be the crowning glory (so far, of course) in the career of The Blow.

The final track ("The Warrior's Hearts") is grandly reminiscent of the music from The 7th Guest but also sounds like something that would play under closing credits, making it the perfect closer to this disc. The entirety of The Concussive Caress runs only about thirty minutes (not including the hidden track at the end of 15), which is just enough time to take the dog for a long walk (or the ferret, depending on your pet predilections), but not so long that you have to stay the night over at a friend's house the finish the thing, unlike some bands that seem to thrive on filler just to take up the whole running time of a compact disc. It's a truly great album that leaves me wanting more.

(Size is Disappointing)

(Bags of poor quality)

(Full of hot air, literally)

(Great product, great price!)

(Better than the "other," name brand...)
So far these bags are holding the seal, but when they first arrived I was shocked at how small they were. If these are supposed to be medium and large, I cannot imagine what the manufacturer expects you to put in a small. I was only able to put two (2) regular pillows in the large, when I was hoping to store a comforter. It would have been helpful if the description had included the dimensions instead of what I perceive as misleading generic terms such as medium and large. Hence I will include dimensions here. The actual storage area of the large is 20" x 27" and the medium is 16" x 17".
I thought I would make a good investment in buying these bags. We were going to use them to pack up a lot of the clothing in the house when we moved out of state and then use them for storage later. WRONG!!
Here are some problems I ran into with them:
1) The bags have a plastic closing piece that CANNOT be lost, otherwise you can't seal the bag back up ever again. It's kind of hard to keep track of things in a big move.
2) 3 of the bags didn't even keep the air tight seal. Go figure!!
3) When we arrived at our new house, one of the bags had ripped right open and clothing spilled out EVERYWHERE!

Let's just say I feel that these bags are a huge waste of time and money. I would rather store things in boxes, the old fashion way!!

I had tried these space bags years ago and they leaked and did not hold the vacuum...But I thought, ok, it has been several years now, certainly they have improved the product...wrong!!...within 30 minutes of putting my sweaters in a bag for the summer, the vacuum was gone...I would not recommend these type bags at all, they are simply not worth the money...
These work great! They are much cheaper than Space Bags but work just as well. A++!
I'm pleased to have come across this item. I bought a few bags including a couple of the "other", to compare for myself. My conclusions: quality is a noticeably better upon first impression...bag feels sturdier, screw on cap vs "pop-on;" price is most certainly better, yet the previously mentioned problems with these bags are the same. I did find a leak...nevertheless, at least I didn't pay twice as much as I might have if I bought the "other." Honey-Can-Do is definitely a better offer.... By the way, I did notice a marked vacuum improvement using my hand-vac, vs upright...both which have 12amps of power. Probably, because I use handvac less regularly...for stairs and such.
Honey-Can-Do Vacuum Packs are vacuum sealed storage bags for storing everything from large seasonal clothes to linens and comforters. Just put the items into the bag and then use any vacuum cleaner with a hose to suck the air from your Vacuum Pack bag. Stay organized and add to your storage space. Honey-Can-Do Vacuum Packs protect your clothing from dirt, bugs, and other irritants. In addition, they are water and air tight to keep moisture out and to prevent mildew. These units are reusable which makes them an excellent value. Let Honey-Can-Do help you get organized today.

(Good as New)

(Biggest POS I've ever owned)

(Ryobi blower/vac)

(Super Buy)

(Try something else)
Except for the minor scratches on the bottom the reconditioned Ryobi ZR08510 and the generic box I would have thought it was new. Runs great, runs like a Ryobi!
I don't get upset too easily, but this product inspired me to write a review, hoping it will save other buyers from wasting their $$. I recently used it for the first time. I started with the vacuum mode. Well, that didn't last long. The vacuum tube falls out every 30 seconds, because it twist locks in place and the cheap plastic doesn't hold it secure. There's supposed to be a safety that kills the engine if the blower/fan access door is open. Well numerous times when the vac tube fell out on me, the door stayed slightly ajar and the motor kept running. Talk about an extreme safety issue. The engine also spat and sputtered and would hardly stay running while using the vacuum mode. As soon as I would increase the throttle it would not want to stay running. Yes, I read the owner's manual and know how to operate a gas engine. I was using new gas mixed in the proper ratio. After absolutely no success with the vac mode, I switched to blower mode. The blower tubes fall out all the time as well! This flimsy twist-lock design is worthless! Finally, I had to resort to some duct tape to hold it in. On the positive side, the engine stayed running in blower mode and I could actually increase to max throttle without it killing. It does run quieter that my last leaf blower and the engine starts up good. You have to ask yourself why there is a vast supply of refurbed units being sold. After using the product firsthand, I can see why. No amazon return policy for items that use flammable liquids and Ryobi return policy says item must be unused. Well, what good is that? You don't get to truly experience how useless this leaf blower is until you put some gas in it and fire it up! I feel truly let down by Amazon. Why do I have to choose one star for this product, it deserves ZERO!
Used only a few times at this point. Works reasonably well but doesn't have as much power as I expected. Also, weight and 'balance' are certainly not optimal. For the amount used, it also seems to use much more mixed 2cyl gas than I would have expected, compared to other 2 cycle tools I have and use. Overall, would give this a 4 rating at best.
This hand hand held blower/vaccum to everything you could want for home use. We use it weekly to blow off the tennis court and only yesterday I used it to vaccum up leaves and debris on my driveway. Being gas driven there is no cord to worry about yet the light weigh motor provides plenty of power. Excellent value!!
I purchase this item in May. Seem to work fine but the last 2 weeks it runs for 15 seconds and dies. Looks like I will have to work on it or take it in. Item not worth your time.

(Dust Busted)

(Incorrect picture, but filter is great)

(dust buster filter)

(There are two product variations in this listing!)

(Got to get it!!)
Shipping and handling were expensive, but overall it came out cheaper than any other option. The picture shows both the paper and the plastic filters. The order came with only the paper filter. Since I don't need another plastic one, I just accepted the order. Be aware, however, that the picture is misleading.
The picture is wrong. You only get the filter - not the holder.

The prices was really good and the filter is the exact replacement. I did think the prices was awful low for both pieces.

couldn't find them for sale in the stores anymore, and i found them on Amazon.com
I couldn't help notice a wide price disparity on this item. Amazon wanted $8 whereas other sellers were<$2! Since this is a consume-and-dispose type item, I decided to pay Buy-It-Now's exorbitant $6.95 shipping fee and buy 3 at $1.25 each - netting me 3 for $10.70 instead of $24 at the Amazon price.

Here's what happened: I received the filters promptly but with NO packaging and NO plastic cover, JUST THE FILTERS. That's fine with me since as another review pointed out, the plastic cover is quite reusable with a quick rinse and it seems pointless to replace it every time ... and the packaging just goes to the landfill after all.

BOTTOM LINE is I'm happy with my purchase but this should be cataloged as two different items - the "Filter Set" at a higher price for those who want the whole package, and the Filter ONLY for people who just want the filter a-la-carte. (I'll rate it 5 stars if they fix this... the filters are just fine.)

I was very happy to see this item on Amazon since this is my 3rd BD stick dust buster. I usually throw the filter on the driveway to get it clean. Now I have a new one!! I think I'll get a battery so I don't have to purchase another whole unit.

Vacuum tubes were a very important creation in the history of electronics, as they played an integral role in the development of radios, televisions, telephones and many other technological advances. Although most of the applications that incorporated vacuum tubes eventually used transistor-based technology, vacuum tubes still hold footing in a lot of applications and their history is vital in the understanding of 20th century technology. Check out this film from the 1940s that shows a first-hand glimpse at vacuum tubes in their heyday! (Belts Kept Breaking.)

(Great Product)

(Worked for a Hoover Bagged Tempo Plus.)

(Very pleased!)

(GREAT PRICE, description lacking, but STILL GREAT HAIL! AMAZON!)
I would never buy a Hoover vacuum cleaner again. Their customer service is the worst I've ever seen, there is no service near by and they expect you to pay postage if sending the big non working plastic junk to them or drive 65 miles to their service center.
Never again Hoover.
Do Not Recommend.

The belt was a perfect fit for my Hoover; it was very easy to put in to the vacuum, Thanks to the designers at Hoover. I don't know how long it will last, I hope for 2 to 3 months at least! I have to report back on this. Thanks to Amazon for having it on stock. I looked for this kind of belt all over the town and could not find it.
Works great! Belt was hard to put on, but that's probably how it always is. On the belt the numbers are 38528-033
First time to order from Amazon.com and it was a very pleasant experience. I recieved the items in a short time and was exactly what I needed. Will definitely order online more often as I don't like to shop in stores.
I purchased a Hoover "Tempo": [[ASIN:B0009ONZ8G Hoover U5140-900 Tempo Widepath Bagged Upright Vacuum], and it needs belts periodically...'heard they're a bit of trouble to lay hands on locally, so I 'stocked-up' on Amazon.

The product "Number" 40201160 is a bit confusing, and the description should be made to denote that product "Number" 40201160 is Hoover's product number for a PACKAGE OF TWO 38528-033 or 38528033, belts.

Having received shipment, and confirming that these were the exact replacement item, I have to say that this is a 'no-brainer' with Amazon's offer for free shipping.

A package of 2 replacement vacuum belts for use with the U5445-900 vacuum

(Terrible vacuum)

(Electrolux Intensity)

(Great bags fpr the money)

(This is the product to buy)

(Perfect Fit)
This machine is very difficult to use. It is heavy with large stiff wheels. If you loosen a wheel as per other reviews, it will then fall off continuously. The screw is not a slotted or Phillips, but some sort of weird hexagonal which is hard to adjust unless you have special tools. The machine is a bear to work with. The suction is great, as everyone mentions, but you can't get it where you want without much labor. I went back to my old Dirt Devil after 2 weeks of wrestling with this pig. It may be fine for large homes and deep cleaning, but horrible in apartments. The low price of $88 will make it less painful to throw out with the garbage, where it belongs.
I read all of the reviews prior to the purchase of the Intensity, some were negative. The cord is shorter than some cleaners but I don't consider it a negative. My house is 1800 sq ft and I have vaccuumed it at least five times without having to change the bag. I was concerned that it was not picking up like my Fantom canaster bagless cleaner(which I love) but after I vaccuumed with the the Electrolux, I then went over the same areas with my Fantom and there wasn't anything left to pick up. It is extremely well made, a little difficult to maneuver on carpet but I love it, infact, I bought another one just to have as a spare.
I save a lot buying these bags on Amazon. They provide good filtration and have heavy duty.
What can I say? If you own the Electrolux Intensity vacuum cleaner, obviously this is what you absolutely need for your wonderful machine. This is a genuine Electrolux bag at a fair price. Order through Amazon and eliminate the hassle of looking for a store that carries this product. You paid for your Electrolux, simply keep it running at peak performance with a "real-deal" replacement bag.
A reasonable price for the brand-name item so it fits my vacuum and my budget just right. Free shipping helped too!

(Eurika belt is good, however installing it is not as easy)

(no one I can drive to seems to sell this)

(Eureka Type R belt)

(All reviews considered, a useful life of 3 minutes is still brief)

(The Belt Will Work for a Long Time If Properly Adjusted)
There is no problem with the belt itself. However installing it and making it work is not a trivial task. If you are handy person and can make changes on the fly to make it work, that is good. Otherwise have a technision take care ot it.
As long as the chain stores don't carry it, I am sure I will be back!
Looked locally and felt the prices were too high (approx 2x). I paid a much more reasonable price and shipping cost for a replacement item. I hope that this belt will last a similar time to the previous one (approx 4yrs). Straightforward to install.
The belt that came with the vacuum was tough and worked>1y till a week or so ago. I replaced it a few minutes ago with this product, using two on-line versions of directions plus common sense, and I didn't even cross the room before it broke again.
Two floors, three vacuums, all Eurekas. If only the belts were as strong as an O-ring....

What can one say about a belt; it either works or it doesn't.

I've noticed complaints about the belt breaking frequently on the Eureka 4870. I think that is due in large part to the manual operation of the height adjustment.

The height should be adjusted to the highest level that actually works on the carpet being vacuumed. If it is adjusted too low, the resistance from the carpet versus the powerful motor on the 4870 stresses the belt too much and it breaks.

I've used the same belt on my 4870 for well over two years and it seems to be as good as new. I have a fairly thick carpet and adjust the height to the next to the highest position for most of the carpeted areas of the house. We have some rugs and other carpeted areas where I need to drop the height down, but usually the third level down from the highest works well on those. Properly adjusted the 4870 cleans very well, fluffs up the carpet, and extends the belt life.

The bottom line on this is if you don't stress the belt by adjusting the height too low for the carpet; the belt can last for years.

(Great product)
I purchased this to replace an exterior door bell that was jury rigged before I purchased the home. This board fit in perfecty and was simple to wire in. Less then an hour to make the transformation.
Great product.

This chime module allows the playing of door chimes throughout an intercom system, thus extending the hearing range of a chime and reducing the chance of missing a guest's arrival. It supports three pushbutton locations, playing eight notes for the front door, two notes for a side door, and one note for the rear door. The chime volume is adjustable. The module is easy to add to a master station.

(Review of Series II Printer Cartridge)

(HP Ink Toner)

(HP Series II toner)

(Good, but darn expensive)

(No substitute for the original.)
The product was received on time and in excellent condition. I received great service.
The toner cartridges were intact with one box a bit torn up. We haven't used the cartridges yet so no comment of whether they work or not. Only concern was the postage charges. We paid 81.91 U$ shipping and handling and the postage was 39.93U$. 42U$ handling is a bit steep.
Edith

Received toner in great time, but toner leaves ink lines all over the page. I guess I got what I paid for. Now I have to buy another one. I am not a happy camper.

Sandra

The HP toner works well in the HP LaserJet. The only trouble is that the toner has gotten to be more expensive than buying a whole used printer.

I only paid $75 for a used LaserJet IID with a memory upgrade. The difference between the II and III models was more memory in the LaserJet III. After a while the memory chips they used became obsolete in current PCs so bunches of used memory from dead obsolete PCs was available for practically nothing. A local store that specializes in used PC equipment sells them with lots more memory than the originals. After 20,000 pages printed I had to buy a new roller. Again, less than the price of the toner.

I have used"refill"toner and it usually leaves streaks long before it's used up. The HP toner works well and long. I don't know why the new ones are so expensive.

Bob
I have tried the re-manufactured toner cartridges for my HP II printer unfortunately there is no substitute for the OEM product. I know, you can get cheaper, but this is one of those cases where you get what you pay for.
This high-quality Hewlett-Packard 92295A toner cartridge is designed to work flawlessly with your HP LaserJet II, IID, III, or IIID laser printer. It produces sharp text, smooth grays, and eye-catching graphics. Just like Hewlett-Packard printers, HP accessories and supplies are manufactured to exact standards and provide the highest quality. Enjoy peace of mind knowing your Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printer is using a genuine HP toner cartridge.
The HP LaserJet 92295A Print Cartridge is ideal for home or office users who need reliable, professional-quality laser output. The HP LaserJet 92295A Print Cartridge is designed together to work together with the HP LaserJet series II, IID, III and IIID printers. The average number of cartridges used per year is 2-4.

If I had to do it over and knowing what I know now, I would not have purchased a Nutone product. The system is 5 years old and I have replaced the initial home system along with 4/8 remote stations. Nutone uses (in my opinion) cheap components. Bascially the buttons and contacts (internal) break and or wear out. This particular outdoor station uses a cheap button for ringing the doorbell. They should do relability tests at Nutone and build something that will last.
I try not to get my expectations set too high when it comes to cheap switches. It is expected that a doorbell switch will fail after long exposure to the elements. Most are inexpensive, one replaces them and moves on, but to make a $40 doorbell replacement is a hard sell. I have replaced a number of these items. In the majority of cases the cheap little button switch is the cause of the failure, but the whole assembly needs be replaced.
Use some clear silicone caulk after connecting,(AND testing), the assembly to seal the rear of the switch, and to seal the housing to the wall. It will not stop the button from failing, but will extend the life of it.

(A GREAT Phone System!)

(Thanks, Panasonic!)

(Great Phones)

(Panasonic phones rock!)
This is a GREAT phone system. For much less than $200, you can put a phone in every room in your home. I bought an additional handset to max out the set with six phones.

The phones look great and seem well-built. There's a long list of useful features--too numerous to mention. However, programming this phone is simple and straightforward. The owner's manual is easy to understand.

I've owned phone systems where registering/de-registering the handsets with the base unit was a nightmare. Not so with this Panasonic! Simply refer to the owners manual, press a couple of buttons and the job is done! This set of five phones comes already registered with the base unit.

The Caller ID screen is easy to see--even without my reading glasses. The keypad buttons are lit, a very useful feature in dark rooms.

The 'Talking Caller ID' is a bit comical with it's mispronunciations, but you quickly get used to it and it's VERY convenient.

The intercom system is simple to use. You can call all over the house without taking a step. Be aware this is an intercom system--NOT a paging system.

A person with average or normal hearing shouldn't have any trouble with the loudness of the ringtones, handset volume or speakerphone. However, I believe that someone with moderate hearing loss might experience some difficulty with the overall loudness at times. My only criticism is that this phone could be a little louder. It shouldn't be a problem with most people, however.

The speakerphone on the base unit features a seperate keypad and can actually be used as an extra phone.

It is difficult to tell from the photograph, but one phone is white--not metallic. We use that one in the kitchen.

The new 1.9 GHz band is great! I live in a big, old house spread out over 2 1/2 floors. Signal coverage is impressive and consistent with no detectable 'dead spots' or interference. This unit has good coverage well beyond our property line. You needn't worry about microwave ovens, wireless modems, wireless doorbells and garage door openers. The new 1.9 GHz band is vastly superior to the congested 2.4 and 5.8 ghz bands. Security on this phone is great, too. There's absolutely no chance your neighbors will overhear your conversations because the signal is digitalized.

Thank goodness the days of expensive, proprietary batteries are over! This system uses two inexpensive, rechargeable AAA batteries which are available everywhere.

I bought this unit for a family member who has suffered two strokes. He walks with a great deal of difficulty and sometimes falls. With this phone system, he always has a phone nearby. His chances of being able to reach a phone in the event of an emergency is greatly improved. You may want to consider this phone system for an elderly person or someone with medical/mobility problems. Although this family member has trouble understanding some things, he has absolutely NO trouble understanding or operating this phone system! In fact, he LOVES this phone and it has become his link to the outside world. This phone gives me some peace of mind should there ever be an emergency.

When it comes to expandable phone systems these days, there's a lot of garbage on the market. My experience is that this Panasonic system is well worth the money and I highly recommend it.

We bought this Panasonic phone system about three months ago and are very pleased. It's great to have a phone in every room we use frequently, and we enjoy knowing who's calling before we pick it up. We never subscribed to Caller ID from the phone company, so this is a nice new feature for us. The voice clarity is wonderful, the message system works well, and two or more of us can be on a call at the same time (which wasn't the case with our older extension phone system). Even my husband, who doesn't tend to gush about stuff, has said repeatedly how much he loves this phone system. Enough said!
These phones are great. I love the ability to block out unwanted calls without having to pay extra to your phone company. The voice caller ID is interesting. The enunciation of names is a little off. They have a nice selection of ringers to choose from. The only problem I have with this set, is it should have come with the wall mount for the wall mountable base.
I have tried other cordless phones (V-Tech and ATT for example) and keep coming back to Panasonic. I'm delighted with this set of phones, which work perfectly with my voip service. The shipping took a normal time and the packaging was secure.
Long Range, Excellent Clarity and Greater Security DECT 6.0 (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) technology lets you move freely around your home with long range and amazingly clear sound. It also assures greater protection against eavesdropping for all your calls. Operating in the 1.9GHz frequency range, your phone will not conflict with other wireless devices such as computer routers, wireless keyboards, microwave ovens and other common household devices. Night Mode Lets You Choose Where the Phone Rings Now you can program each handset to ring or not at your discretion. Before going to sleep, simply set the bedside handset to Night Mode so that it won't ring in your bedroom. In the meantime, the handset in the den will still ring when that important call comes in without disturbing the person who's sleeping. The Phone That Talks Now you don't have to be holding the phone to see who's calling. Using text-to-speech technology, the Caller ID1 information is announced between rings. Panasonic's KX-TG9300 series DECT phones also boast a talking alarm clock that will tell you when it's time for lunch, and a talking battery alert that politely tells you when your battery is low with a "please charge phone" reminder. Put a Handset in Every Room With four handsets (one base and three chargers) and the option of adding up to two additional handsets2 all while using only one base and one phone jack go ahead and put one in the den, the kitchen, the master bedroom and the living room so you won't have to make a run for it when the phone rings. Never Miss a Call with the Light-Up Indicator Don't miss important calls when the ringer is off. The Light-Up Indicator with Ringer Alert at the base of the antenna will flash quickly to show that you have an incoming call, and it will flash slowly to let you know you have a new message. So turn off the ringer and never miss a call.

(Dirt Devil Illuminated Kone cordless vac)

(Thanks for the recommendation!)

(Very Disappointing)

(good for small jobs!)

(Doubles as a Night Light)
Absolutely love this little vac! More powerful than I ever thought it would be. Picks up kitty litter in a whiz and all those little dust bunnies and 'stuff' that comes in the window when it's open. I live in South Texas and it's so dusty down here all the time. This has just been a life saver for my sanity 'cause I'm such a neat freak!
Before I make a purchase on Amazon, I read the reviews and you guys didn't steer me wrong. I love the Kone. And I am making sure to not keep recharging the battery before it's ready. Thanks for the recommendation. I love having something so powerful and easy to use. It's much better than the last hand-held vacuum I had.
My girlfriend bought one a couple weeks ago, and it has absolutely NO power. If you put your hand to the opening, you can barely feel any suction at all. I have played around with the filter and the way it fits into the the other piece that actually fits into the vacuum (and messed with how the "other piece" fits into the outside case of the vacuum, it's two separate pieces that fit together and connect to the top part of the vacuum) with little success. I have read the other great reviews for it on Amazon, and I'm not sure if I have a lemon or what?!?
It works really well for small jobs like, sucking up crumbs of any kind, hair, dust etc.
The only CON I have is that the charge doesn't last too long.

Great product in both design and fuction. The bottom lights up with a blue light that doubles as a night light. It has enough power to suck up all the bird seed that the bird tosses out and looks nice in plain view. Buy it.

(Poorly Constructed)

(I should have bought a long time ago)

(Awesome product)

(A computer vac that works)

(Pretty good vac/blower)
Pros:
It runs?

Cons:
It gets VERY hot very fast.
The back easily falls off during use, spilling all that has been vacuumed.
It has an overall cheap feel to it.

I returned mine to Amazon.

I and others use this vacuum in our computer repair/maintenance "shop." It has worked wonderfully; I use it to clean out computers, keyboards, and generally around the shop. I have worked on computer for ten years and I should have bought a vacuum years ago. The only minor drawbacks are that it is noisy and it gets hot after a couple minutes of use.
I had been looking far and wide for a good small vacuum/blower to clean my computers out and boy does this one fit the bill. The only drawback on this machine is that it heats up pretty quickly. I believe that this was due mostly because of the attachment I used. When you use the smallest/narrowest blower end, it makes it harder on the motor. I have yet to test the suction part of it, but I'd say that if your using it under normal circumstances (without the extreemly narrow ends), that it most likely would not get so hot so fast. I would recomment this product to anyone especially for anyone looking for a good way to clean their computers out. You can't beat the price either, in my humble opinion.
This is the best unit I have tried yet to get all that dust out of a computer. I have tried other battery operated machines, but they had far less suction power. It also comes with the attachments to get into those hard to get at places. I give this one a good rating.
Very good blower, and vac. Gets hot fast, but retains it's power through the cleaning process. It took me about 25 minutes to blow out and vacuum the dust in my pc, and it worked great. The attachments are outstanding! I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good vac/blower for their system. Not recommended for anything else. If you want more power, buy another product. Know what you want to use this product for before you purchase. It does exactly what I bought it for. Unplug it if not in use for prolong periods of time.

(Excellent coffee)
This is what they serve the President in the White House and on Air Force One. Jamaica Blue Mountain beans are "horribly" expensive, but are absolute first class in making coffee. Indulge yourself as a reward. Superb for espresso, crema coffee, cafe americano, etc. You want to get and use a real, good quality espresso machine to properly extract the coffee and crema from freshly ground beans: using a drip coffee maker with these beans does not come close to doing it justice, and is an absolutely disgraceful waste of these great coffee beans. Save your Jamaican Blue Mountain beans back for indulging yourself after (or before) a rough day, for relaxing on weekends and holidays, and for those very special guests on very special occasions.
Jamaica Blue Mountain "Wallenford Estate" has been satisfying coffee connoisseurs around the globe for more than two centuries and is famous for its exquisite flavor, balanced acidity, a clean refined taste, unusual sweetness, excellent body and intense bold aroma. Simply Amazing!

(Frustrating - Not for real inground pools)

(Needs weights and a handle)

(Leaf Bagger)

(Must Have for any pool, used on vinyl)

(Performs as advertised!)
I purchased this item thinking it would do a reasonably good job in my 44 foot by 20 foot in ground pool. This item is probably fine for smaller or above ground pools, but was very frustrating for a larger in ground pool. The net was very small and cheap feeling. The unit seems to be cheap plastic. It would not stay on the bottom of the pool and kept wanting to "float" to the top. The brushes fall out all the time, which makes them useless.

My advice is to buy a much more ruggedly designed one of these leaf vacuums from your local pool store, or online if you can find it. Get a bigger leaf bag in the unit, and make sure it has adequate weight to stay on the bottom of your pool and they wheels actually swivel properly. You will end up paying 2 to 3 times more for a quality leaf vacuum but at least you'll not be wasting your time with this "toy."

Item received almost as advertised and in excellent condition. As someone else noted the "handle" is 4" and therefore totally and completely useless. It does a FANTASTIC job getting leaves off the bottom on the pool as long as it stays there. I have an 18' intex pool and I had to actually get into the pool and hold it down to get it to vacuum up the leaves and once I did it worked extremely well. Naturally the pole I already have doesn't fit so I've got to buy a new one if I want to use it from outside the pool.
This Leaf Bagger is a great product. I have a tree that drops ALOT of leaves directly into my pool. I have no problem getting them all out now. My pool is always crystal clear now!
Bought for a 15ft by 4ft vinyl pool, cleaned up the leaves and bugs at the bottom quick!!!!!!!!! did not come with handle but was easily towed by hose, very durable plastic shell, no regrets.
I bought this because I was tired of my Polaris 280 having to run for 4 hours or more to clean up the mess after a storm. We have a large Chinese Elm in our yard and didn't want to lose it when we built the pool.

The Swimline Leaf Bagger allows me to pick up a mess of leaves in less than 30 minutes. I easily hooked the hose from my Polaris to the Bagger inlet by disconnecting it just before the backup valve, then hooking it to the Bagger. The Bagger connects to a standard telescopic pool utility pole.

It makes picking up a mess of leaves on the bottom easier than skimming the surface, and uses the same pole. Highly recommended if you have a leaf problem with your pool.

Large capacity 13.5" diameter leaf bagger connects to standard garden hose. Complete with handle adapter, wheels, brushes, and nylon drawstring leaf bag.

(Couldn't get it to work on Area rugs)

(Too Cute!)

(Cute vacuum)

(Helped my daughter with her fear of vacuums!)

(Doggy Blues)
I bought this for my 18th month old and she really liked it. I is very cute, but we have wood floors and everytime she would get to the area rug she couldn't push it. It was even hard for me to push it on the carpet. She would just get frustrated with it. I think the problem was that it says it really picks up (not sure if it does or not)so there are plastic tabs on the bottom to facilitate this, well this was the problem too. The tabs caused it not to roll easy. I even tried it down stairs on our carpet but it wouldn't work their either. It did work great when on the wood but we have too many rugs throughout the house for her to really push it around.
Got this for my child for this upcoming Christmas. A friend of ours had one and my little girl just loved it. It is too cute and makes doggies sounds while playing with it. Great for hand and eye coordination and keeps the little one busy.
I bought this toy for my 2 yr old grand daughter and she just loves it! It is very durable or has been so far and make cute dog sounds which amuse her alot. I would recommend it rather than the other vacuums that look like a vacuum but aren't. She likes this one best and it does make vacuum sounds along with dog sounds.
My daughter would scream&cry everytime a vacuum cleaner was turned on. I saw the commercial for Bark Bark&ordered it from Amazon. Now, when it is time for me to vacuum, we get Bark Bark out&she vacuums behind me. When something gets on the carpet, she'll tell me it's time to clean.

It teaches them about neatness&it's fun, too! It's great for pretend play alone or with friends playing house. My daughter is now 2 1/2 and has had this for 7 months and still plays with it several times a week.

Well my son loves to "vacuum" when I do, so I thought this would be a nice idea. He loves dogs so I figured it would go over well. My son is 3 and he's not tall for his age, but this was really short. He still tried it out. I think what he liked the most was the noise the dog made when he stopped vacuuming. The dog whimpers at the end, and my son would make the sound as well. He purposly stopped it all the time to hear that noise. After he heard the noise a few times that would be the end and he'd reach for his ball popper and use that instead. I asked him next time I vacuumed if he wanted to go get the dog, and he would not. So I think it has been used a total of 3 times for 5-7 minutes at a time. Oh well I struck out. I think the design is very cute, maybe better for a younger child? Not sure.
Your little tikes have always wanted to be like you and now they can play pretend and imitate some of the grown up chores you do around the house. This play vacuum has plenty of fun features to keep your child entertained, has a cute dog face&fun dog sounds, and it really works.

(GREAT TOY!!!)
I got this toy for my son. Everytime the big vacumm came out he would want to play with it. So out of nessecity I started looking at vacumm toys. The age reccomendation is 3 and up but my son is 18months and loves it. At first the real noise scared him so we used it turned off. Now at 19 months he is all over the house with this toy turned on. IT ACTUALLY PICKS UP!! I have to empty the chamber b/c it does pick up hair and small dirt pieces. The price was right. Originally looked at the mini-dysons but this one was much more affordable durable and just a great toy he will enjoy fir the next couple of years (i hope) you cant go wrong buying this product!!

(Very comprehensive read)

(Begins with more than something ends with almost nothing...)

(Half of a Good Book)

(Captivating early on, but disappoints toward the end.)

(Lambda force rules in Universeý at least for now.)
I really enjoyed this book. Barrow has also covered the historical record of how the concept of zero originated. Its fascinating to see, how like other 'easy' inventions like the first wheel, the simple 'zero' was missed for so long. he also throws a lot of light on the history of creation ex nihilo in the Bible. A good book.
This book comes close to literary schizzophrenia if i ever encountered it in written form.

Keeping in mind that the author aspires to explain"complicated"issues like voids, vacuums and the general concept of nothingness, this book could indeed have been another horror to read through like many such books are for those of us who dont spend our lives in labs.
I was more than surprised then when i discovered that for 200 odd pages (2/3 of the effort) D.Barrow does an incredible job explaining his subject in brilliant manner.

Beginning by backtracking in history, to exhibit how the ancients dealt with the concept of nothing and therefore needing to introduce the conception and the introduction (or non-introduction) of the number zero Barrow kept me heavily intrigued and increasingly stimulated. I was in fact in pure awe for a while, especially as the book progressed to the origins of the universe, early experiments about the vacuum and the startling things we've discovered about it, and then on to the ever-fascinating subject of the expansion of the universe (or agin, the non-expansion thereof). That part of the book is very enriched with philosophy which makes it all the more captivating. Philosophy, it may be unknown to some, has played a pivotal part in the development of physics. Before you can ever begin experimenting with anything you first need to grasp it even as an abstract concept in your mind.

That far, this was easily the first book that could explain in a very comprehensive manner why the universe might be expanding and what the causes of such an effect might be, as well as, the effect of vacuums in this process. The joy didnt stop there, at least not for a while yet. Introducing theinevitable Einstein theorisations the author kept using down-to-earth language and very effective examples to build his case.

But then for reasons i believe to be obvious the whole things falls apart. As if another author takes over 2/3 of the way in, the"Book of nothing"becomes almost a list-down of mathematical types, and descriptions of ultra-complicated experiments and even more convoluted theories. Worse yet, the language becomes wooden and tiresome, the examples fade off to ambiguity and the reading becomes a very, very difficult task.
An incredible effect to watch unfolding before my very eyes. I couldn't believe how much i'd actually grasped through the early stages of this book and how"nothing"(there is my pun) i grasped later on. And saying i grasped nothing later on is meant literally. I found myself reading the last 150 pages of the"Book of Nothing"as if it were hieroglyphics and were it not for the brilliance of this book initially i would've given it up all together.

What happened then. Well, in my opinion, what happened was one of the following or some combination of them:
-Barrow might actually be a better philosopher than he's a physicist, hence he might be practicing the wrong profession.
-as is the case with other scientists who've written such ambitious books, the suspicion lingers threatfully on that they themselves might not understand what they're talking about. Indeed, a major principle of communication states that if your message is not understood then it is 100% your fault. But even more importantly, if your message isnt understood then your message might not be...right.

Whichever the case, this is not the important thing. What is important is how this book is divided in half. Half of it absolutely incredible, fun to read, ultra-stimulating and then the other half a pure torture of a read with no reward in sight.

For the part that does reward though i couldn't possibly over-reccommend this book. It's a must read especially if you feel there are concepts you dont seem to understand about the latest theories concerning the universe, its origins or its future, the vacuums and voids and other elements connected to this big (second pun, unintended this time) picture.

If you find yourself giving up on the"Book of nothing"as you approach its conclusion, dont worry. Your overall effort wont be in nought.
I was excited to read this book. I find the concepts of zero and the vacuum very interesting and those are the very concepts that are the focus of this book. Unfortunately, it did not quite live up to my expectations.

The first chapters of the book are quite good. Barrow gives us a history lesson on the development of the mathematical concept of zero as well as the historical concept of"nothing"which science will turn into the concept of vacuum. We get to read about the use of zero as a place holder in more complex numbering systems as well as its coming into being as a number. We get to read about the some of the great scientists--Pascal, Newton, Michelson, Einstein--doing experiments and tossing around ideas like the aether. All of this is interesting and well told.

However, about half-way through the wheels start to fall off. Barrow is not nearly as good at explaining the modern concepts of the vacuum as he is about telling of its historical development. Modern physics is again grappling with the question of whether or not a true vacuum can exist. It may be that fluctuations in the vacuum caused the Big Bang and are constantly creating multiple universes, for example. But though Barrow discusses these things, he does not do so in a very coherent manner. Alan Guth, for instance, did a much better job of discussing these same subjects in his book on the inflationary universe theory.

Plus, Barrow is clearly out to toot his own horn a bit in the last couple chapters by mentioning his own contributions to the development of the subject. It just so happens that his contributions don't seem nearly as important as other authors who have written on similar subjects. For those readers interested in the history of zero and the vacuum, I would suggest reading this book through chapter five and then putting it aside.
I really enjoyed the first part of this book. There I found the coverage of Nothing-related topics to be interesting, well-written, and enjoyable to read. While not always the case, as a rule new concepts and theories were introduced with adequate explanation as well. For example, the quick introduction to surreal numbers was informative and fascinating, though it left me feeling only teased and wanting more.

However, the last third or so of the book is another story. This part often comes across like the author was rushed or something, and on average the reading is simply more tedious and difficult than it needs to be. Rather than being fun and informative, the effort required to extract the few worthwhile morsels of information probably isn't worth it.

Even though I have mixed feelings about it, I would still consider recommending this book to anyone typically interested in mathematics and physics. But for something that covers much of the same basic subject matter in a more enjoyable way, I would probably instead recommend"Zero: The Biography of a Dangerous Idea"by Charles Seife.
John Barrow's work is truly nifty and represents well-researched and designed material, that can stand on it's own.
If you have already read popular science cosmology books by Kip Thorne, Igor Novikov, Martin Rees or Alan Guth (just a few excellent examples - check my reviews), "The Book of Nothing" will still deliver new and fresh angle through which mysteries of quantum and Universe can be looked at. Therefore I recommend this book to all cosmology readers.

Book is unique as a blend of tasteful dissertations from the realms of theology, philosophy, mathematics and cosmo - science. We will discover Mayan culture, Islamic art and Babylonian concept of zero, meet and learn what they thought or discovered - Greek philosophers, Hindus, Leibniz, Galileo, Pascal, Descartes, Newton/Einstein, Godel, Lemaitre, Plank, Guth, Linde, and Penrose/Hawking.

The main theme (regardless if this was cosmology part of the book or not) is vacuum, and more exactly: it's energy.
Vacuum is not empty due to quantum phenomena and vacuum presents itself as a LAMBDA force, dominating, according to what we observe, the current behaviour of visible Universe.

Especially interesting are author's summaries about famous question: "Why is there something rather than nothing?", and about origin of the Universe and life.
Is it possible that Cosmos always existed and will exist, or has it been created out of NOTHING?
After all, one may construct, very easily, mathematical equation that proves "nothing" theory (find it inside the book).
Can cosmos be self-reproductive or cyclical? John Barrow and his colleague Mariusz Dabrowski discovered answer to the latter.

Few explanations:
Figure 8.2 (Mexican hat): horizontal axes (both) can be labeled as Higgs field values.
Figure 8.5: horizontal axis contains label for the scalar field as well.
Figure 7.11 contains symbol"phi"(zero with slash): it represents the golden ratio and equals (1 + square root of 5)/2 = 1.61803...

Sentence on page 248 (paperback edition) should read:"..so in combination they can pin down the Universe by their overlap with far greater certainty (not"uncertainty") than when taken singly."This sentence describes figure 8.10.

Finally I was overwhelmed and amused by many great citations, that shine along the text. Some of them are really funny; some are incredibly deep and surprising.
Here is a sample of the funny one:

"I must say that I find TV very educational. Whenever somebody turns it on, I go to the library and read a book".

For sure, go and read John Barrow's, you will not regret.
From our modern perspective, it is easy to deride the wranglings of medieval scholars over the number of angels that could dance of the head of a pin and whether Nature abhors a vacuum. But as John Barrow reveals in this timely and important book, new discoveries in science have shown that these scholars were right to suspect that Nothing has hidden depths.

It is a concept shot through with paradoxes: even innocent-looking phrases like "Nothing is real" flip their meanings as we ponder them, like those illusions that look like a vase one moment, and opposing faces the next. Nothing is fertile, too, as Barrow shows via a stunning trick that allows every number one can think of to be built out of nothing at all.

But his book is about far more than mind games. Arguably, the most important discovery of 20th-century physics is that there is no such thing as nothing: even the tightest vacuum is teeming with subatomic particles popping in and out of existence, according to the dictates of quantum theory. Now, many astronomers suspect that such "vacuum effects" may have triggered the Big Bang itself, filling our universe with matter. Indeed, the very latest observations suggest that vacuum effects will dictate the ultimate fate of the universe.

As an internationally respected cosmologist, Barrow does a fine job of explaining these new discoveries. The result is a book that is required reading for anyone who wants to understand why there will be much ado about Nothing among scientists in the years ahead.--Robert Matthews, Amazon.co.uk
From one of our foremost mathematicians and cosmologists comes this fascinating exploration of the surprisingly substantial and varied nature of nothing.

With unassailable expertise and a proven ability to make complex theories and ideas clearly accessible, John Barrow examines and explains every aspect of nothingness. From the zeros of mathematicians to the void of philosophers, from Shakespeare to the null set, from the ether to the quantum vacuum, this book illustrates the fact that nothing is real.

Barrow begins with the origins of zero in ancient India, its rocky reception in Europe, and the early abhorrence and eventual acceptance of the concept of the void by Christianity. He traces the notion through the work of writers and thinkers from the ancient Greeks to our own time. He looks at mathematics, cosmology, theology, and physics to uncover the nothing that is at the heart of most things. Finally, he discusses recent concepts of nothing, which are having profound effects on our search for the origins and overall structure of the universe.

lluminating the many ways in which humankind has come to understand -nothing,-The Book of Nothingbrilliantly belies its title.

(A most interesting vacuum)

(A Metareview)

(So many ideas, so little time...)

(Ideal for?)

(one of my favorite satirical works ever)
A Perfect Vacuum is a reference for books on imaginary books. I love comments on imaginary books, an in this field Stanislaw Lem is a master. The difference with Borges reviews on imaginary books (read Fictions, by the Argentinian author) is that Stanislaw Lem recurs to science and locate most of his visionary plots into the future, where humankind is often not human and sometimes not kind. In line of other Lem's works: Imaginary Magnitude, One Human Minute, this "perfect vacuum" is a reference, the best of them all. I eagerly recommend this book.
Here Stanislaw Lem embarks on a pretty unique method of satire - reviews of nonexistent books. Most interestingly, Lem takes the opportunity to advance his own ideas on technology, ethics, and logic while satirizing both writers and the literary criticism establishment. Getting a grip on these multiple levels of satire is the key to understanding Lem's purpose in this book. In several "reviews" here, he skewers literary criticism by pretending to be an exaggerated version of an academic critic, first by criticizing his own nonexistent longwinded introduction to this book, then by over-analyzing his fictitious books to the point of solipsism. Examples include critiques of a book that is apparently about nothing and another book in a language spoken by neither the writer nor the critic. All the while, Lem satirizes the ridiculousness of such endeavors with ironically overblown professor-isms like "The self-novel is a partial striptease; the antinovel, ipso facto, is (alas) a form of autocastration." Just like you would find in any literary critique written by a professor wishing to impress no one but another professor - a phenomenon that deserves to be satirized.

Lem also "reviews" several fictitious books that adapt the themes and plotlines of old classics to modern settings, which in the real world is the type of literary reinvention that is often slavishly over-praised by academic analysts - making Lem's satire necessary in bringing all these eggheads back down to Earth. In other "reviews" here, Lem provides commentary on the fictitious scientific and philosophical theories of his fake writers, providing him with a very sneaky method of advancing his always interesting thoughts on those same topics. Meanwhile, some brutal social satire (an underappreciated strength of many of Lem's proper novels) pops up in his "reviews" of fictitious fictional works. This book often seems to be the work of boring over-analytical ivory-tower scientists and snobs, but that's exactly who Lem is satirizing, in a sly fashion that would probably go right over their lofty heads. [~doomsdayer520~]

...must have been Stanislaw Lem's predicament. He had the ideas for a good dozen novels, but didnt' actually feel like writing them, so he wrote reviews of them. The kind of reviews that thoroughly give away the plot.

Well no, that's probably not what happened, but it amuses me to pretend it did.

A Perfect Vacuum is a collection of reviews of non-existing books. In fact, some of them (Gigamesh, written using a battery of computers supplied by IBM, foremost) couldn't even exist. Other books ("Rien du tout") would probably be excrutiatingly boring. Others ("Gruppenfuehrer Louis XVI") sound so good I wish someone would actually write them.

Some of the reviews are lighthearted, commenting mostly on the story. Others, however, wax philosophical about the author's ideas,
and there is my problem with this book. Some of the reviews seem to me polemics against certain literary schools. But if Lem first needs to set up a caricature of something in order to shoot it down, isn't that just a strawman argument? Also, if Lem writes a brilliant review of a very bad book, can I be forgiven for asking `what's the point'? If he writes (review of "Les Robinsonades") about `the full boorishness of the blunder' of the author, am I to find him clever for pointing out an error that he first himself introduced?

However, despite these objections this is a wonderfully inventive book, and many of its chapters have a timeless quality that makes me reread them time and time again.

The collection of essais (forewords or afterwords) on non-existent major books of our future. Perfect food for thought, but rather bleak in reading comfort - a little bit too dry and condensed. It's not a blood thriller(s), even if dissecting thrilling matters.
Anyway, it is a must for any real SF fan. Especially after Star diaries, Futurologic congress and things like Peace on Earth and Fiasco.

I forget when I discovered Lem - in college? -- but A PERFECT VACUUM remains one of my favorite works and I'm delighted it's still in print (it may have been out of print once). Lem packages a collections of fake book reviews of nonexistent books, written in a delightful broad array of styles and voices. His wry humor lights every page. He includes a scathing review of his own book !! Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys satires and highbrow whimsy. (If you like this, try Julian barnes: Foucault's Parrot, or,History of the world in 10.5 chapters.
.1 a"In a perfect vacuum, Stanislaw Lem presents a collection of book reviews of nonexistent works of literature - works that, in many cases, could not possibly be written. Embracing postmodernism's "games for games' sake" ethos, Lem joins the contest with hilarious and grotesque results."--BOOK JACKET. "Most of the "reviews" target the postmodern infatuation with antinarratives by lampooning their self-indulgence and exploiting their mannerisms. Lem exposes the limits of postmodern fiction, showing how its studious self-consciousness frequently conceals intellectual paucity. Beginning with a review of his own book, Lem moves on to tackle (or create pastiches of) the French new novel, James Joyce, pornography, authorless writing, and Dostoevsky, while at the same time ranging across scientific topics, from cosmology to the pervasiveness of computers."--BOOK J

(Fantastic book!)
If you are like me, a life-long guitarist and an Electrical Engineer who earned his degrees long after vacuum tubes were taught at universities, this book is definitely for you. Frankly, I was hooked once I read his other book that focused on the analysis of the Fender Bassman. I have read other books on the subject that seem to take much more of a survey approach to the study of guitar amps. I am a serious musician and have always loved the tone of a good tube amp. So, it only stands to reason that as an engineer I would want to learn how to build my own. Unfortunately, the great texts like "The Radiotron Designers Handbook", aside from being hard to find in good condition, are traditional technical treatments of amplifier design and therefore stress the importance of designing "nice", linear, clean, and well behaved amplifiers. That's fine for HI-FI equipment but just plane antithetical to guitar amplifier building. ...anyway, Mr. Kuehnel's books (all three of them) treat the tube guitar amplifier as it should be. That is, as half of the musical instrument. The half that produces all the great warmth of tone and musical rich distortion that all modern guitarists crave. His works come from an understanding that distortion and non-linear behavior is exactly what a good guitar amp is about and he presents the circuit analysis needed to understand how to capture that behavior in your own designs. Also, while he takes the time to illustrate a particular design choice by highlighting similar circuit blocks from famous amplifiers (like the Bassman,) his books fully explain the design trade-offs involved rather than just parroting existing designs. I have added each of his books to my library and hope to see them in hardcover some day.
The power amp transforms the carefully crafted signal voltages served up by the preamp stages into the punch and sizzle that defines a guitar amplifier's character. It is in the power stage that the designer orchestrates the nuances of touch and tone in an environment of vacuum tubes and circuit components being pushed to their limits.

Written for electronic engineers and professional amp builders,Guitar Amplifier Power Ampsmoves beyond simplistic advice and cookbook solutions to present a complete guide to the theory and operation of single-ended and push-pull power amplification. From the phase inverter input to the loudspeaker output, every aspect of circuit design is rigorously explained and thoroughly explored. Find out what happens when Class A1 and Class AB1 circuits are overdriven to distortion levels never imagined by Frederick Terman or the Radiotron Designer's Handbook. Discover step-by-step how to design phase inverters and power amps to achieve your specific design goals.

The dynamics of power amp distortion create the heart and soul of an amplifier.Guitar Amplifier Power Ampshelps you get the most out of it.

This is an excellent product. It keeps stuff cold and probably keeps it hot.

I wish Thinksport had a 20oz. bottle. I'd buy it.

My family and I are big water bottle fans. This one is great it does keep the water very cold. The only problem I have been having lately is that the top is starting to leak a little. Annoying but not enough to stop from using. Just have to hold it upright.
I ordered 2 bottles a month ago. I like them, however, I still think I need to buy a larger bottle since I finish the water in just few sips.

One of the bottles leaks. I have to use the washer in one of them. The other one doesn't leak even without the washer in place.

I know Starbucks is now carrying a larger stainless water bottle with simple screw lid.

(Had to go through 4 of these to finally get 1 that worked)

(Superp insulation)

(Reliable, Versitile, and Excellent Quality!)

(Best Thermos Ever! Color Not Properly Displayed.)

(Keeps It Hot)
Stanley Stanley Outdoor Line 344567 By Stanley
I bought 2 of these and after a few weeks of using them everyday the outside of the bottle started to get hot. The coffee was room temperature in a few hours. I called the customer service people for a replacement (considering there's a lifetime warranty). I waited 4 weeks and received nothing. They said they sent it out, but it was returned. That is highly unlikely since I had them ship it to my work address. I called them again and received 2 bottles a few weeks later. Only 1 has proven to work. So, product reliability is definitely a problem with this product.
The insulating qualities of this bottle are the best that can be found for the general public. I can put 4 ice cubes into cold water, and 24 hours later there is still ice remaining. It is also easy to drink from, and is totally leak-proof.

It does, however have two short-comings, neither of which affect it's primary purpose of keeping liquids at their intended temperature. First, it does not have a proper handle, only a small hook with a grometted hole in it. Secondly, it scratches easily. Considering the overall quality of the product, one would expect it to have an anodized finish.

I am happy with my purchase and expect the bottle to last for many years.

Stanley has a reputation for ruggedness and high-quality, and this Stanley Outdoor 16 oz. Vacuum Drink Bottle lives-up to that reputation. First of all this mug is a vacuum flask, just like Stanley's thermoses. Vacuum flask technology is the best technology for preventing thermal attrition (keeping your hot drinks hot and your cold drinks cold). Other travel mugs do not employ this technology because it is more expensive - but the results are well worth it. I enjoy my coffee very hot and my water ice cold. When I received this I tested it and found that it kept my coffee nice and hot (not lukewarm) for over 10 hours! As for cold, it had ice in my ice water in it after 30 hours before I just drank it so I could use it.

The entire bottle is stainless steel. It is double-walled, with a vacuum between the steel walls. The screw-on top seals very nicely and is made of a very strong plastic, it seems very solid. In fact, I mistook the base of the cap for steel because it was so solid. The base of the cap has a clip tab attached to it that can attach to backpacks, etc.. The cap assembly can be easily taken apart to thoroughly clean it.

When I first received it, and began using it, I took it for a jog with me. I noticed that as I sloshed my water around inside, a little splashed-out and I thought it was defective. I later realized that the bottom part of the cap assembly wasn't screwed tightly when it was shipped to me and after I screwed it tightly, the mug sealed perfectly and works like a dream!

Drinking through the top is easy and convenient. With a turn of the outer ring of the cap, the outer ring rises above the inner orange hub about 1/16 of an inch and the liquid flows freely - not just a little trickle like some travel mugs. This is great when you're really thirsty from activity. The top is designed so that you can drink from any side you want to, which is really nice. I also like that it is labeled with a U.S. capacity of 16 ounces and not some metric liter garbage that no one uses here. It fits nicely in anyone's hand, even if your hands are small (see circumference below).

Here are some specifics on the mug that I wish Amazon/Stanley would have given, so I will:

Height: 9-1/4 inches
Diameter: 2-13/16 inches
Circumference: 8-4/5 inches
Composition of mug interior: Stainless Steel
Composition of mug exterior: Stainless Steel
Composition of Cap/Top: Plastic/Polymer
Thermal Attrition Resistance: Vacuum
Empty Weight: 1 pound, 0.4 ounces
Liquid-Filled Weight: 2 pounds, 1.2 ounces
Maximum Capacity (Volume): 1 Pint (16 fluid ounces or 1/8 Gallon)
Country of Origin: Made in China (not USA, sadly).
Cleaning Method: Hand Wash Only [Not Dishwasher Safe]
Not Microwave Safe - Do Not Microwave
Guarantee: Lifetime Guarantee

I have posted 10 pictures of the mug at various angles and pictures of the lid and how it works that were not posted when I bought it, so you can see what I wanted to see before I bought it. I posted them for the same mug from amazon.com as a seller here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000G00WU2

I own many Stanley thermoses. I must say that I am impressed with the quality of the bottle and innovativeness of the design. It is definitely a mug that can be used not only in offices and commuting to work, but also on the job where ruggedness is required and out on the trail. The only drawback I see is that it is made in China instead of the U.S.A. Personally, I'd happily pay double the price for one that was made in U.S.A. In any case, a good Stanley product is worth the investment. Stanley's famous Lifetime Guarantee is legendary and when you see how solid and well-built this product is, you can see why Stanley can offer such a great guarantee.

These thermos's are the very best. Does not leak and keeps coffee hot for HOURS! This is my second after I lost my fist one. My wife swears by hers also.
A little pricey but well worth it.
btw, the copper color pictured on Amazon is way off. The thermos is an orange copper color.

I bought this bottle because I really like my coffee to stay hot so I can enjoy it over an extended time period when I'm driving on a trip. Most thermal travel mugs just don't keep it hot for more than a few minutes and most of them leak when tipped -- no matter what the manufacturer's label says. This one keeps it hot and really will not leak if the drink lid is in the closed position. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because it does not have a comfortable handle and its circumference is just big enough that it does not fit properly into my car's drink holder. (It does fit in my husband's car's drink holder, however.)But these complaints may not be fair, as apparently it is made to be used while hiking and is meant to be attached to a belt or backpack.
With the new Stanley Outdoor Vacuum Drink Bottle, the outdoors has never looked (or tasted) so good. Leak proof and packable, this mug combines the sealing function of a bottle with the drinkability of a mug. Double wall vacuum insulated rugged steel design is the ultimate in durability and will keep coffee that will stay hot all day long. All Stanley products are backed by a lifetime guarantee. Stanley has been keeping coffee hot in the outdoors since 1913. Since then, the Stanley bottle hasn't missed a day of work, a football game, or a trip to the great outdoors. The distinctive Stanley bottle is an American Icon that still works as hard today as it did nearly 100 years ago. Stanley... Built for Life.

(Compression Tester)

(looks very professional)

(just used this on my son's jeep)

(Nice quality for the money)

(A must have product if you are planning to buy a used boat.)
I found the quality and workmanship of the compression tester to be very good. The gauge is large and durable, and the accessories appear to be nicely made. I have already used it on my outboard motor cylinders and leaf blower cylinder. I am very happy with the readings.
These tool its very useful for those people that fix its own cars, help me a lot discovering what's the problem with my engine, I also order the vacuum gauge and the fuel pressure gauge from Actron.
It is well made and the readings were stable. I only wished that it had a few more adapters at longer lengths or it would have gotten 5 stars. Very helpful tool.
Use these for many tasks on my personal vehicles.
Nice build qaulity. Lots of adaptors and spare parts.

I was in the market for a used boat and this thing saved me from a bad decision more than once that week. If you are shopping for a used boat be sure to take one of these with you, it can save you thousands! Remember to do the compression check AFTER a test run when buying. I did find the perfect boat and she runs great with no problems so far. The compression tester works great and looks like it will be around for several years. The pouch could use a separate compartment for the small parts.
Professional compression tester kit detects worn rings, burnt valves and blown head gaskets.

(Works for my casting projects)

(Better than expected)
I bought this to de-gas small amounts of silicone and polyurethane casting components, for which it performs adequately. The key is small amounds (less than a quart). For a vacuum chamber any larger than a volleball, I would look to a higher CFM pump.
This vacuum pump worked better than I expected, when I did the vacuum test in my car the needle on the gauge was steady. I did this test three times to verify accuracy and the three times the gauge read exactly the same. I highly recommend this Vacuum pump.

(Review for Metro Sidekick Dryer)

(AIr Force Blaster Sidekick Compact - Great Product)

(Great Vac!)

(What's with the cord?)

(lotta hot air)
Works great for blowing 90% of the water of motorcycles but be ready to give a final wipe to really get rid of spots.
Purchased this dryer thinking that it would help a little with the drying time on my bike - this product is great - it cut my wash and dry time in half - I was able to get the water out of the fins on my engine heads as well as all the little spots I had difficulty getting to with a cloth. Even blew the dust off the garage floor prior to rolling the bike back in. Highly recommend this for the biker that has one or two bikes and likes to keep them clean. You will need an extention cord as the cord on the unit is aprox 18". Great product - great buy!
I would normally resist washing my Sportster (typically use Dri-Wash products) because of the pain that comes with removing water spots, but the Metro Vaccum makes drying anything a breeze! Takes me about 5 minutes to completely dry my bike and the most important thing... "NO STREAKS or WATER SPOTS!" Needless to say, I love this compact portable motorcycle dryer!!!
I bought this dryer as a replacement for a dog dryer that broke on me. I am very happy with it; it is the same product as the one that's sold for dogs, it's just a different color. The only problem is the cord, which is about, no kidding about 18 inches long! That makes the use of an extension cord absolutely required and really cuts down on its usefulness.

It also falls over when using an extension hose. I had my husband build a wood base to put it in while in use or stored, so it would be more stable.

For the price, it is an excellent product, but I still think the 18 inch cord is ridiculous.

This is a whole lotta product in a small package. I had been considering some type of dryer to help with cleaning and drying my motorcycle, and when I found a very attractive price on Amazon.com I decided to try it. I'm glad that I did as this Metro Vac SK-1 is a great tool. It lives up to manufacturers claims and I can't imagine needing anything bigger.
All-steel Blaster SideKick features a powerful 1.3 HP motor that pumps out 18,000 feet-per-minute of warm (25-30 degrees above ambient) filtered air that will thoroughly dry a full-size road bike in minutes. Yet, at a mere 9.5" high and weighing just a hair over three lbs., the SideKick is small enough and light enough to ride comfortably in a saddlebag. The SideKick is equally at home in the driveway or on the road and makes an economical pack-along to complement your home-based Blaster or Master Blaster! Specs: Motor: 1.3 HP, Air flow: 18,000 ft/min, Fan: Single-stage/single fan, Amps: 8amps/950 watts, Cord: 14in. Heavy duty 3 conductor, Weight: 3lbs, Filter: E/Z change foam filter, Warranty: 1 year.
