『Amazon's website claims that the product is compatible with mac os x. Well, after open it up, I found only drivers for windows are included in the CD. Need a driver? Well, good luck to find one. The product has a support telephone number in Taiwan, since our day time is their night, I didn't bother to call. And amazingly, their english website does not list the product to be compatible with mac os x. Well, I didn't give up and with a lot of googling and the help of my Chinese, I found the driver in the companies japanese website! Happy, not yet, the driver does not install on Snow Leopard, the latest mac os. Nonetheless, I tried it on my G4 mini that runs on Leopard. Well, I am happy to report that the product worked, and that's why it is getting two stars instead of one. The signal I am able to pick is weaker than the airport can. and although it is connected with 802.11n, it does not appear to give me better speed than my 802.11g airport. Since my main purpose for getting it is to speed-up my wi-fi connection, I didn't find it is useful. I returned the product to Amazon.』

『I don't know what we did or didn't do, but we never could get the crazy thing to work right. I thought it would be so great for my son to get active, all we did was sit in front of the computer to figure things out.』

『The concept of tying in actual physical exercise to a video game is a great concept; however, this product is not so great. The first one I ordered through Amazon was DOA. Although the unit would turn on and make noise, the LCD screen was defective, meaning you couldn't see anything on it. I returned it via Amazon's great return service.

I bought two more of the units on clearance from a local retailer for both of my sons; however, while both of the units would power on, neither one would connect to the website to register the unit and play the game. Needless to say, I returned both of those units to the store for a refund.

Furthermore, even if you were able to connect the unit to the internet, there is a disclaimer on the instructions stating that the company holds the right to discontinue website access in January 2010. Don't waster your time or money on this piece of junk.』

『I bought this game for my daughter and she loves it! She really likes to make her avatar look different each time she plays the online game. As a mom, I really like that it will keep her active. This is the best new toy I have seen in a long time.

(Me2 handheld - definitely not ready for primetime)

『Note: the only reason I gave this product 1 star is because I can't give it zero (or a negative rating).

I just had the unfortunate experience of trying to get a "me2" handheld to work.
I spent an hour on it - an hour I'll never get back - and I've come to the conclusion that this product is just NOT ready for prime time.

1. the markings in the battery case are back to front - if you follow those markings, you get batteries in backwards, and the handheld won't power up

2. it won't connect to a mac

3. when connected to a windows pc running XP, there is no autorun - I eventually hunted for a setup.exe and found one.
(This was the hardest step - the instructions around this step are in that odd "translated-from-Chinese" language that's impossible to interpret).

4. I still can't get to connect on-line - I'm prompted to install macromedia shockwave 10.1 from the browser - that won't install automatically - when I install manually, I'm offered Adobe shockwave 11.1.
After installing Adobe shockwave 11.1, the browser still says I'm missing a plug-in.

5. I can't download games for the handheld - when I click on that command, I'm told it's "coming soon"

So I can't download games (the handheld comes with just 1 simple game), and I can't play on-line (because of a shockwave plug-in mismatch).
And it's taken me an hour to get to this stage - the on-line help and documentation is spotty at best, phone help is only available 9-5 Mon-Fri EST, and the documentation and help (both printed and on-line) are full of spelling mistakes and uninterpretable instructions.

In short this is a shoddy, far-from-complete piece of work, which is absolutely NOT ready for primetime.

Final kicker - I wanted to e-mail this rant to assistance@me2universe.com, but the e-mail was rejected with
mailbox unavailable or not local (state 14)

Sheesh.

『I purchased this for my 7 year old son and he plays with it a lot. For the price ($199) I thought it might be gold-plated but actually it doesn't even have a screen that shows colors. He likes it and that's all that counts... I guess. The price just suprises me and then you have to purchase more cartridges after they memorize all the answers on the original game.』

(Turbo Extreme - Portable, Fun, Engaging Education At Its Best)

『We've had this product for over 3 years now and still use it almost daily. It grows with your child encouraging them to strive for their best. Children want to be the best at everything they do. This toy motivates the child to beat their own high scores and achieve academic excellence in both math, spelling, science and social studies. With the expandability of additional Turbo Extreme Cartridges for Grades 1-4, this product continues to add additional learning opportunities that our children hunger for.

The Turbo Extreme is very portable and has accompanied our family on many trips. Car rides are no longer "Are we there yet". Now our son says he's "almost done" can we wait just a minute? We've taken this product on many plane trips, doctors visits and car rides. The Volume Control as mentioned by another reviewer makes this product appealing to all. Many parents have watched our son engaged with this product ask "where can I get one of those"?

This purchase is one our family is glad we made. Many toys are used once or twice only to be at the bottom of the toy chest. This toy will not be one of those.

Fast-paced games pack fun and learning together. Players use the directional pad, the twist dial and the "slam" button to jump, duck, scroll or select answers. Five fun game modes feature music, animation, sound effects and scoring. Plus, expandable, multi-subject, grade-based cartridges add new content, new games, and a multi-player option!

Learning Levels - Turbo Extreme handheld uses an auto-leveling system that adjusts to each player's individual skill level. To use auto-leveling, just start playing and the unit will adjust automatically. If you wish to set the level, you can do that with the Options Menu within each game mode (Hazard Spelling; Missing Letter; Hazard Math; Math Factory; Fact Blaster)

Hazard Spelling - The object of the game is to correctly spell as many words as you can before time runs out! Listen to the word anounced and then move Turbo Monkey to grab the letters to spell the word correctly. If you spell the word incorrectly, listen for a hint! Hazard Spelling teaches children over 75 spelling rules and skills to help them spell thousands of grade-appropriate words. Words are linked to hints that reinforce key rules and skills. Kids start with short vowels and simple words such as "bed" and progress through complex words such as "pause" and "guest".

Why is this important? Reading and writing are closely tied. Learning spelling patterns helps children spell more words correctly, write more confidently, and decode words more easily. Spelling patterns learned while playing ith the Turbo Extreme handheld will aid reading and writing progress.

Missing Letter - Object of the game is to fill in the missing letters to spell the word. Listen to the word anounced and use the Twist Dial to scan until you see the oorrect letter. What's being taught? In each word, the missing letters represent common spelling errors. Playing Missing Letter helps children learn how to avoid these common errors and corectly spell thousands of words.

Hazard Math - The object of the game is to solve as many equations as possible before time runs out! Listen to the equation and then move Turbo Monkey to grab the correct numbers to solve the equation, while avoiding obstacles in the path. Six types of equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions or decimals) are announced, based on each player's skill level. What's being taught? This activity teaches children over 150 critical math skills for grades 1 to 4, from the basics (such as addition of single-digit numbers) to more advanced math (such as dividing four-digit numbers by two-digit numbers). As players progress through each level, they will master equations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals.

Why is this important? Mathematics is vitally important to your child's success in school and beyond. Every child needs a solid foundation in basic computational skills in order to succeed in higher-level mathematics and problem solving. Mathematics play a key role in subjects such as science and social studies, and it has practical applications outside the classroom, including work, hobbies, sports, travel, saving and spending money, and more.

Math Factory - This game is a fun way for children to master their math tables in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. There are two modes of play. In the Get Choices mode, several answer choices will be displayed on the screen. Players hit the Slam Button when they see the correct answer. In Enter Your Own mode, players must fill in the correct answer by twisting the dial until they see the right number. What's being taught? A fun, musical beat helps children memorize and recall math tables including: Addition of numbers 0-9; Subtraction of Numbers 0-9; Multiplication of numbers 0-12; and Division of numbers 1-12.

Fact Blaster - Blast through some facts! Score as many points as you can by correctly answering questions about science and social studies. What's being taught? Why is this important? Learning about geography, cultures, and history helps children establish a sense of plce and make connections between past events and their own lives. The Hall of Doors - After accumulating a certain number of points, the player will receive a key. This key will unlock a door in the Hall of Doors. There are seven doors with exciting rewards inside. (Old West; Dynamite Diver; Amazing Artiste; Pirate's Treasure; Funky Monkey; Turbo Tut's Tomb and Banana Split.

『I bought this toy for my 5 years old son. He is so into reading and math so I thought he'd like it and I was right.
If your kids is not into reading and math I recommend an age of 6 and higher for this. It has so many levels as is without buying the extra cartriges. It is so much fun too as the player collects point and keys along the way. This alone makes him want to play over and over again, and boy you'd like him do that.
We bought the 1st grade cartridge and it was as fun as the games on the turbo extreme. It features the same monkey character that hops to hit the right letter or number.
I also like that it has a volume button, a wide screeen and a great design. The screen does not have a light though. So you can't play it in a dark place. Don't be fooled with the $99 price too. It goes now in the 30's and sometimes less, and it is worth every dime.』

『Very similar to the other Lego (whatever) games. The environments are very busy, so it can be hard to tell what's going on sometimes. Fun to play.』

『I'm a big fan of all of the lego games, and this one is no exception. However, I'm not sure if I'm just getting better at them, or if this one is overall a little easier. I just haven't felt as challenged, having only really had to play each level once in story mode and then once (rarely twice) in free play mode to get all of bricks and canisters...

『My husband and I play this game together or individually. Our 6-year-old son is starting to get into it as well. The controls are a little complex for him but he is getting the hang of it rather quickly.

When we're playing a level, sometimes we can't figure out for quite a while how to get from one scene to the next. There are little to no instructions within the game, but eventually we figure it out. It's really fun, and it's good clean fun too. When a character is shot or hit, their Legos come all apart. No blood, no gore. I really appreciate that with little kids in the house.

If you are new to the Lego game series, FYI, there is no talking in the game. When the characters "talk", it's more like mumbling and grunting. Pretty funny, actually.

We first had the Lego Star Wars game, and enjoyed it so we bought this game on Amazon. Comparatively, I think this one is a tad harder (the way out, like i mentioned before, takes a little more effort to find). Also this game is visually darker than the Star Wars game.

『We love all the Lego games. I have kids ages 9,3, and 1 and we play all our games as a family,so violent games are out of the question.In Lego games you "die" by just breaking apart. It is the perfect solution to wanting a shooting game without seeing anyone get shot. But it is also interesting enough to keep the whole family involved for weeks at a time. We have been playing this game since July and still love it. We have played the Star Wars complete Saga for over a year and still love it too.They require thinking and problem solving which surprised me. Plus if you love Legos you will be amazed how much the animation looks like the real thing. My 9 year old loves the Batman game because it lets you do all the levels from the villans point of view. Each chapter has a Super Hero version and a Villan version. I wish they made more Lego games, we would buy them all.』
