Didn't even crash my computer. Just read the directions that come with the ME2. Then as you download it, it has directions along the way. You can hear it clicking away when you walk. It works when it's in your pocket or clipped to your belt. I received lots of points in a matter of minutes. I also downloaded 2 more games from the website. Read the directions....』
(Expected So Much More) 『My daughter was very excited about this as a gift and I was excited because I thought is was a toy that would encourage movement. First of all, it is made poorly. Second, it does not accurately track movement. This was a horrible disappointment and at full price it was a complete waste of money.』
(Good Concept, Poor Execution) 『I received one of these as a gift and was excited when I first opened it. However, after a I played with it a little, I soon became disappointed. There are only two games for the handheld I know of,(there may be more that I have not found) and the online portion does not live up to the advertisements. I know that this is meant to encourage physical activity, not gaming, but I still would have expected the games to be somewhat fun. Maybe I am just too old to enjoy it because my younger sister and cousin have enjoyed playing the Me2.』
(My child walks more to get his points) 『We still can't figure out how to use this toy. I thought it would work more like a pedometer. But as much as I am disapointed with the toy itself, it is doing what I hoped it would do. The toy is encouraging my child to be more active.
The website is extremely confusing and it does not have clear directions, but my kid loves to see his points level go up so he is more active with the toy.』 『This hand-held and online gaming system is powered by a player's own physical activity. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Living rooom freedom) 『I have been fortunate enough to be one of the early adopters of this innovative gadget that has allowed me to take my digital experience to a new level. After I decided to build a media center PC and connect it to my big screen TV, I was in the market looking for a wireless mouse that will not only replace my mouse but will also work in a way to make my on-screen browsing experience much simpler and intuitive. When I came across this WavIt, I realized unlike a wireless mouse it gave me a 3-D navigation where I can zoom in and out of web pages, and navigate back and forth with just a twist. I could increase the volume with a twist and scroll up and down with a flip. A flip and twist did almost everything I wanted to navigate my media center PC. The installation was a breeze but it did take me a while to get used to this free floating navigation tool before I could get a steady pointer. The smartpoint feature in WavIt was just the one I needed. After I got used to it, I calibrated the WavIt to suit my navigation style and once everything was set, there was no turning back. I love the feature where it detects that your cursor is moving out of the viewing area and gives a small vibration to let you know. I could also replace my TV remote with this WavIt but I am yet to get to that piece of the feature set. The fact that I could individually program every button on WavIt to a specific function makes this highly configurable. I have programmed one button to close any application, one to zoom in and out, and one to scroll up and down. Its so cool... I would highly recommend this to anyone trying to control a media PC in the living room with a mouse. WavIt will give you whole new experience of controlling your media center PC.』
(WaveIT - the future remote!) 『I first saw information about this item in the local San Jose newspaper back in January 2007 and already at that time,I thought it sounded like a cool device - A kind of improved Wii for the livingroom. I purchased the device 3 weeks go and I must say, I have not been disappointed. The delivery and installation went very smooth (only drawback is that it takes some time to load the device once the pc is restarted) and within a few minutes I was up and running. The best features is the control of the internet (and there are great links to movie sites on ThinkOptics web), mediacenter and also the gaming controls. It is just great fun sitting in the sofa and playing WOW on a 42" screen :-)』 『The Wavit is a remote control for controlling your TV, PC, movies, and Internet from your sofa. It comes with a Never-Look-At-Your-Remote! attitude. It is operable with one hand, and has vibration feedback. The key to its simplicity is its DirectPoint feature: Just point the remote at the screen and the Windows cursor will appear exactly where you point, stabilized to compensate for shaky hands. But it does much more than that because it accurately tracks other motions and actions as well. A twist of the wrist, for example, can summon a web page, change the volume control, or FF/REW a movie. A short push/pull can zoom into or out of web pages or photos. It is magnificently intuitive to use, and is meant to simplify the 10-foot TV navigation experience in the living room, in much the same way that the Mouse has vastly simplified the 2-foot PC interface. The Wavit can also learn IR codes easily and, with its non-directional RF communication, is ready to make today's IR remotes nearly obsolete. Its sleek simplicity hides the utilitarian fact that it replaces the remote control clutter found in many living rooms today.
The Wavit is ideal for any consumer who has just invested in a large screen TV and who would now like to effortlessly enjoy and navigate entertainment content ranging from showing off your digital photos, your home movies, your MP3 song collection, and recorded movies, to going online to play movies, casual games, online music, get the news and weather, or to do some window/sofa shopping. And all the while only looking at the large TV screen, not the remote. The Wavit is great for controlling a Windows XP, Media Center, or Vista PC from the lean-back comfort of your living-room sofa. However, the BEST thing about the Wavit may very well be that it comes with its own online user interface to allow for easy and quick access to 1000's of free online Movies, Games, and Music.』 タイトル『 iS-Video Cable for Wii Nintendo New >
Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Fine, but be aware of the size) 『This showed up and worked as expected. I'm sure I would have given this a three star review before I even received it, but I wanted it even though it wasn't really what I wanted. I would like a realistic, much longer club, that you could imagine golfing/mini-putt-ing with, but this was what was available. Fun as a novelty, but will not really enhance your golf experience. If you are going into it knowing this like I did, it will likely fit your expectations.』

Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Careful! Not Mac compatible! No support!) 『I bought this wifi adapter because it was advertised to be compatible with Mac OS 10.5. On my MacBook the adapter caused system crashes repeatedly and was therefore unusable. I e-mailed the PLANEX support about the issue but I never got a response. In sum: If you are running Leopard on a Mac, I wouldn't buy this adapter.』
(Doesn't work at 5Ghz) 『I have a single channel Airport Express Base Station operating on the 5Ghz 802.11n spectrum. I recently purchased a cheap 802.11g netbook and the gw-usmicron 802.11n in the hope I could connect to my AEBS at 5Ghz. Unfortunately this device only works at 2.4Ghz, which is really crowded in my apartment. For now I've switched my AEBS to 2.4Ghz, and this product is working just fine, but my network has slowed terribly as a result, so will be sending it back and searching for another solution.』
(Great device) 『I couldn't imagine a device this tiny would work so well as a wireless adapter. It does!! Follow instructions on installation. If using encryption, save your setup in a profile so you don't have to enter the encryption code each time.
Once installed, you forget that this device is running. I use it with my Cisco WRT160N V2 router, so I am running at "N" speeds. Link speed shows 65 mbps on transmit and 117 mbps on receive. This is displayed with the very nice utility that comes with this device.
The price for this is almost a giveaway for what you get. I would buy this again. As a matter of fact, I also own the GW-US300MiniS by the same company.』
(Awesome Product, great for getting online with your PSP!) 『I have to say that I was a bit skeptical considering that not all Planex Wifi Adapters work well for Xlink Kai. But I bit the bullet considering that I really love Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and wanted more than one way to get online, especially since I can't lug my PS3 everywhere for adhoc party.
My only suggestion is that you download the latest drivers from planex's website and then if you're going to use Xlink Kai, get the latest kai drivers and overwrite the original drivers with them. Only works for Kai in Windows XP 32bit and Vista 32bit btw, so good luck if you have a 64 bit os.

It is also officially recommended by Xlink Kai, which is a software that allows PSP or Nintendo DS users to play online games all over the world. When I picked it up, I had only had my Wii for a very short time and didn't know of all the crappy titles out there. It looked like a colorful and fun platformer, but only turned out to be colorful. The controls are non-existent and don't even come close to doing what they are supposed to do. The levels are weird and random and there is no explination of what to do or where to go. Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (My granddaughter's favorite game) 『I'm always on the lookout for Wii games that my 5-year-old granddaughter can play. This has been the biggest hit yet! She loves this game. She has played it through numerous times - collecting all the pets then starting over again. She loves dressing the pets and taking care of them. You can quickly switch from one pet to the other and then scratch, feed, and dress them. She loves all the games that are included.
The main goal is to adopt pets. You start with three pets. You earn the right to adopt more pets by playing games with the pets you have. The games are fun and can be played at any time. There are three levels (easy, medium, and hard) on every game, so they are suitable for a wide age group. I love playing some of the games. You earn "kibble" by playing games and picking up coins. The kibble is used to buy new pets, toys, and accessories. There are a variety of pets - a monkey, a polar bear, a giraffe, cats, dogs, and ponies - and they are adorable. You can go to the salon and select accessories - glasses, collars, and hats - for each pet.
There is some reading throughout the game, and each pet has to be named. She doesn't read or write, so she needs my help with those aspects of the game. Children who can read and write would need no help with this game. My granddaughter and I both love this game, and we love playing it together. I highly recommend it!』
(my grandaughter loved this game!!!!!) 『Bought this for my 9 year old granddaughter and she loves it.She has finished one group and stared another.』
(Great for beginners too!) 『My daughter just turned 6 and is not very good at playing video games yet. She loves Mario Kart for the Wii but every other game has been too difficult for her to play by herself so she hasn't found any other games she can truly enjoy. Until now! This game is PERFECT for kids of all ages. She can play all buy herself. She is good at several of the mini games you have to play in order to earn "kibble coins" to buy new pets. She loves it. It is so girly and cute. She loves dressing up her pets and making sure they are happy (fed and scratched). I have no complaints about this game at all. It is the perfect game for girls!』
(Well Worth the $20!) 『My 7 year old daughter picked this game at Gamestop (priced better on Amazon, even with reward card). We obsessively played together for three days to unlock all the new worlds (Plaza {already unlocked}, Garden, Winter, and Jungle). We collected all the 33 characters (including Giraffe {we google searched for cheat code}) along the way! All the characters are so cute and you can dress them up!
You have to complete all the mailbox tasks to progress in the game. There was only one task (asked two times) that was frustrating. You had to dress all designated characters in the same 3 accessories for a task. Then you'll want to redress them back. That was sort of a pain, but just a minor frustration in a lot of FUN!
My 5 year old son prefers Mario Kart, but he still had fun playing along with us. Now that the Littlest Pet Shop game is completed, we will enjoy playing with all the characters in the 4 different worlds with the 16 mini games. We love exploring the worlds and playing on all of the fun equipment like slides, tight rope, swings, hamster wheels, etc... You can also visit certain coin houses from time to time and collect tons of coins. These open back up periodically as you play!
I would deffinitely recommend this game for all young children! I would buy from Amazon for a few dollars cheaper too.』
(Great game for young girls) 『I bought this game for my 7 year old daughter and she absolutely loves it. She loves collecting the pets and unlocking the games. Very nice graphics too. Usually ships in 24 hours Core2Duoノートレビュー 's review (Thank You!) 『Thank you EA Active for finally giving me what I have been looking for: Step Aerobics!! The game comes with 3 pre-set workouts for a step aerobic routine (not just 2 or 3 mins in between other exercises but straight step aerobics). They come slow, medium and fast. I just completed the slow and burned 310 calories (I am 5'8" woman and 230 lbs). Granted its the same 10 min routine, three times but sooooo much better than any other fitness game out there (and I have them all!). I am hoping for Your Shape to maybe even improve on the step aerobics?!』
(Pretty Good) 『Ea Sports Active: More Workouts is just that- it's more workouts. It does not include the exercises from its predecessor, but the new exercises that they added are pretty good. The new exercises that they added to keep it fun are pretty inventive and are done well. While I do not much care for the new resistance band exercises; I like the original titles ones better, the other exercises that are new to this title are an improvement. I personally will continue to use both titles, as I feel that they work well off of each other, and that if you have them both you would benefit from continuing with the first installment.
They did not fix what seemed to be the biggest complaint from most reviewers- the sensitivity of the leg strap, it continues to not read many of the exercises very well. I gave up on the leg strap because no matter how tight I had it it would still slip off. So what I do is skip any of the lunges because no matter what I tried it would mess up on those more times than not. With the other exercises I will continue to just hold the nunchuk where it would be if it was in the strap or just hold the controller in my left hand and the nunchuk in my right hand. I get less "feedback" from the game this way.
I have both EA Sports Active titles, The Biggest Loser, My Fitness coach, Gold's Gym Cardio Workout, Wii Fit Plus, both Active Life Outdoor Challenge titles, and Your Shape is coming soon. While this is not my favorite title it is certainly a good one and I will continue to use it. If you find a work around for the leg strap and better resistance bands then it is much more enjoyable. I ended up purchasing the Gaiam Pilates BodyBand Workout Kit with DVD and Thera-Band Accessories - Assist Attachment Device, and it definitely upped the intensity of my workouts. I have used them nearly everyday since May 2009, and they hold up very well.
I purchased these titles to help with my physical therapy, I have leg and back problems from some of my health problems, I cannot drive and am sensitive to the sun, so I do most of my exercises indoor. Some of the exercises I have to make a few modifications too but I have to do that to all of the titles that I mentioned. I think that may be why I get so annoyed with the leg strap. I personally prefer not to get so much feedback from the trainer because I can not follow along with every precise move, but overall this is a great addition and I can see it being beneficial from long term use and helping to make exercise not so monotonous.』
(Still the best balance of fitness and fun out there.) 『I admit, I was a little skeptical when I heard EA Sports was putting out a sequel to their original EA Sports Active so quickly. I've seen far too many companies enjoy success with a product and then rush out one substandard title after another in order to cash in.
I'm happy to say that EA Sports Active: More Workouts doesn't rest on the laurels of its predecessor, but adds an impressive amount of new and original exercises and fitness activities. They've also added new tools for managing your weight loss and fitness goals. Finally, they've added a well-thought-out 6-week workout program which rivals any program you'd pay much more money for at the gym.
You technically don't need the original EA Sports Active disc to play this game, although you do need the special accessories that came with it: the Leg Strap for the nunchuk and the Resistance Band. Neither are included in this game, so you'll either need to purchase the original or buy the accessories separately with the EA Sports Active Multiplayer Pack.
Unlike what Nintendo did with Wii Fit Plus, where they included both old and new features in the new version, EA Sports Active: More Workouts contains a new set of 30 exercises and 6 fitness activities which weren't in the original. I did like how they came up with a set of totally new and original exercises, but I'm not crazy about the fact that I can't integrate any of the old exercises in the new game. Luckily, for the most part the new exercises are an improvement, so I don't miss the old ones too much.
When you start up the disc for the first time, the system detects your old EA Sports Active profile data (if you have one) and instantly converts it. It'll also ask you to validate your vital statistics. One huge improvement is that now you can use the Wii Balance Board to check your weight. The Balance Board is still optional, but the new exercises make such good use of it I highly recommend it.
You can choose a male or female trainer (they're slightly less creepy than in the first version), and customize your on-screen character. I would have liked a little more control over what you look like: you're still limited to only a handful of body types, skin colors, and hair styles (but for some reason you now have 25 caps to choose from and 24 pairs of shoes)!
Once you get to the main menu it looks about the same as the original version, with the same catchy music which you can't get out of your head (do-do-dododo-do-do-do). The most obvious difference is that instead of a 30-day challenge, you now have the option to take a 6 week challenge.
The new 6 week challenge is a vast improvement over the 30-day challenge. The length is a much more realistic one for weight loss, the workouts are much better designed to focus on different muscle groups more intensively throughout the workout, and you can choose from easy, medium, and hard levels (where hard really does mean hard). One other major improvement over the 30-day challenge is the ability to choose the days of the week to work out, rather than being forced into every other day. For me, I chose Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, mainly because I'm too busy during the week to take more than two weekdays.
Another improvement is the Journal. This is where you can keep a virtual diary of your overall diet and exercise progress. You'll also be able to take daily surveys which ask you questions such as "how many glasses of water did you consume yesterday" and "how many restaurant/fast food meals did you eat". Like a personal trainer, the Wii will give you advice based on your answers (although I would have preferred to see the trainer change your actual workout based on what you say). There's also a place in the journal where you can enter other physical activity you did outside of EA Sports Active More Workouts, letting you choose from a wide range of activities from walking to dancing to yoga.
The reporting tools are also more impressive than in its predecessor. You can look up a weekly fitness tracker that shows calories burned, a chart of your weight, and the number of workouts, total exercise time, and number of miles covered in your EA Sports Active workout.
EA Sports Active More Workouts has lots of new exercises. The 30 new exercises are improved over the original version and work out every part of you, from lower body to upper body. One other nice addition is a warm-up and cool-down period, just like a real training program. While I was never a huge fan of the "resistance band" (I thought it was a bit too flimsy for a Wii accessory), they did think of new and creative ways to use it. For example, to do "one-arm rows", you're instructed to fold the band in half and step on the band in a way that you really do get great resistance on your biceps. As before, you get comprehensive video demonstrations for each exercise.
The highlight of the title has to be the new fitness activities. As with its predecessor, EA Sports Active More Workouts has some great fitness activities: water skiing, paddle surfing, cardio boxing, step aerobics, squash, and an obstacle course. As with the fitness activities of the original, these are not so much accurate simulations of sports activities as they are clever ways to get you to mimic exercise movements (like squatting and lunges) in repetition without getting bored. While it's tedious to go through countless reps of squats and arm movements; on the other hand, it's a blast to be doing it playing a fast-paced game of virtual squash (and quite a workout).
The controls are spot-on. Unlike games like The Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2010, which passively "check" to see if you're making the right movements (and not always accurately), EA Sports Active's on-screen character will actively reflect your exact movements as they're making them. Every now and then the controls do get frustrating (not registering something when you know you've done it), but not too much to ruin the experience.
The game, of course, takes place on an island. Seems to be the trend these days, and I admit it's nice to feel like you're "getting away" for a workout. Another nice improvement is that you have the option to work side-by-side with someone else (you'll need two Wii remotes, nunchuks, resistance bands, and leg straps), and you can see both of you on split screen.
The game also comes with a small book of excerpts from Bob Greene's The Best Life Diet and The Best Life Diet Cookbook. The cynical among us may think it's more of a marketing gimmick to sell Bob Greene's books, but I admit there was enough substance in there to be useful to me as far as motivating me and giving me a couple good recipes to try. And I thank EA Sports for giving this to us in book form rather than on-screen like The Biggest Loser.
All in all, I was impressed with EA Sports Active: More Workouts being an improvement over the first version. Admittedly, Wii Fit Plus is more "fun", has better graphics, and has better responsiveness. But with EA Sports Active, the workout regimen itself is a tougher one which really gets you working out. As of right now, it does the best job of any Wii Exercise Game to balance fun and fitness.』 『More Workouts Wii』 『
EA Sports ActiveGameplay Designed around the standard Wii Remote/Nunchuck tethered controller configuration,EA Sports Active's interactive fitness program is more focused on physical activities than previous 'fitness' titles for the Wii, but still challenges you to have fun while developing a more healthy lifestyle. Separated into the three sections of workout, nutrition, lifestyle, and other activity, the user's experience begins with a pep talk from Bob Greene which quickly transitions into the beginnings of action as players set up profiles, choose a virtual personal trainer and enter baseline data like age, weight, gender, fitness goals, etc. Although the nutrition, lifestyle, and other activity sections add a holistic element facilitated by a mix of surveys and data input, building fitness through physical activity is the driving force behindEA Sports Active, and as such the meat of the content resides in the workout section. Here players will find dozens of themed strength training and cardio workouts which can be customized as you choose and linked into circuit training routines. These routines are introduced and monitored by your personal trainer, and allow for ongoing player motivation via real-time feedback on your workout form, an approximation of calories burned and the ability to adjust levels of exercise intensity.Key Game Features

However, I don't understand why people think rock band is better than Guitar Hero. Rock band is a total wannabe game who copied every part of their games from Guitar Hero. People need to get their heads into reality!!!!!!!
Anyway, Awesome Game!!!!!』
(Better than expected) 『Ok, so I debated over getting Band Hero or Lego Rock Band for the Wii, I ended up with Band Hero because of the lack of DLC usage and you cant import with Lego. I was really impressed with he presentation of this game, from the bright scenery to the more than quality setlist. I would say with the execption of a few songs this setlist comes in to a close second to the Guitar Hero 3 setlist. How can you go wrong with songs like Love is a Battlefield, Lips of an Angel, Whip It, Y.M.C.A., Every Rose has a thorn, Paralyzer, When I;m Gone, plus a ton more. I was more than happy to see I didn't have to re-download the imported songs from Smash Hits and World Tour and the World Tour DLC that i had already imported to Guitar Hero 5 (It took a long time to download all of the songs), now i just only have to import the Guitar Hero 5 setlist to Band Hero and vise versa. I was disappointed that some of my favorites from GH5 won't import like Feel Good Inc, Fame, Sex on Fire, Song 2, Play That FUnky Music, and the two Tom Petty Songs. But than again Band Hero imports to GH5 only minus 4 songs, which the only one i wish imported was Mr. Roboto. Plus an added bonus for us Wii users that have a DS, you can now link the DS to the Wii and select songs to be played while in Party Mode. So lets say you have a bunch of people over, all you have to do is hand around the DS and people get to pick their songs and you wont have to interrupt the people that are currently playing. So either people pick the songs they want to hear, or what ever song they would jump in on. Very Very cool. So if you have a Wii/DS this game is a must pick up. (You don't have to have the DS version of Band Hero to use this feature!)
Pros: DS linking for picking play list in Pary Play, Great Setlist full of very well know songs (unlike GH5), Importing and Exporting of songs, great looking game visually.
Cons: Can't export Mr. Roboto to GH5 (this is the reason i gave it 4 out of 5 stars, you don't mess with my Styx!) and a good amount of well known songs from GH5 don't import. They didn't let you Import/Export Band Hero/GH5 on release.』
(Rocking Up For Pop) 『There is no question about the success that games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band have delivered for gamers of all kinds. There are so many gamers who've had the driven need to rock out loud from start to finish. But, with the success of Rock Band: The Beatles doing so well, many gamers have had a reignition from John, Paul, George&Ringo to a whole new era of fans. That has had the need for Guitar Hero gamers to stretch themselves to be more appealing to a whole new audience of fans, especially the young crowd. Well, that has shown with the new Band Hero game. The game that seems to try to seperate itself from the other music games. But, the question is does Band Hero make a staple name for itself, or does it feel like it is a sell out for hard core Guitar Hero fans. Here is the backstage pass answer.
Band Hero for the Nintendo Wii, brings in a more pop-mainstreamed audience into the world of pop music. The game features Adam Levine from Maroon 5 and young singer/songwriter Taylor Swift, who are game players, as you master your way through more pop-filled songs as you jam your way to the top of the heap. The collection of songs range from guilty pleasures like the Jackson 5's ABC, and K.T. Tunstall's Black Horse&Cherry Tree, to more adult contemporary songs like Marvin Gaye's I Heard It Through The Grapevine, and Corrine Bailey Rae's Put Your Records On. The gameplay is just as the same as Guitar Hero&Rock Band have shown. The graphics handle very well, as you see strong images of the players, as well as Taylor&Adam, and the control is just as the same as you've played from the other music games. What makes this game makeup ground to the mix though, is that you can play through you favorite songs from Guitar Hero: World Tour, as an extra for added fun, from whatever you've downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel for Guitar Hero (yet it could've had that option as well for what Guitar Hero 5 has shown in its library.) Otherwise, there isn't really much to seperate itself.
Overall, while Band Hero tries to re-invent what Guitar Hero&Rock Band have shown, it sadly is more of a mixed bag, than what seems to be more appealing for the hard core gamer. If you are looking for a different library of songs to jam to, and you are tired of shredding your way through nothing buut rock music, than this would be a good try. Otherwise, stick with Rock Band: The Beatles, or Guitar Hero: World Tour instead.

(GH still can't quite compete with RB2, but great for parties...) 『We really like most of the GH's games and RB2's games - each for different reasons. I was looking forward to Band Hero for a game that focused less on guitar riffs but more on playing a wide range of music.
Band Hero incorporates the ability to link up with your DS for various options. Since I don't have a DS, I feel that I'm not able to participate in the full spectrum of the game. For example, if you want to play roadie challenge (where DS users act like and compete as roadies while your band plays the game), you need a DS. Also, if you want to be able to accept and play "Fan requests", they can only be submitted through a DS.
The graphics have improved on Band Hero, but they are still not quite up to par with RB 2 graphics. The characters, especially the drummer, don't quite sync with the music.
The songs are geared more to a younger audience - Taylor Swift, Spice Girls, Jackson 5 (to name a few). You can download additional songs, but I haven't been able to check out the online catalog yet due to an error code ([...]). Also the tour destinations are geared more toward younger players - the mall, a pool party at Cabo, etc.
One of the things I like about BH vs. RB is that in BH you not only have to try to get 5 stars on every song, but you also have bonus challenges on each song (just like GH5). Some of them require you to hit as many "yellow" notes as you can in the song, get the most points on star power, and some are geared to specific instruments. I find this adds a bit more challenge to the game.
If you're looking for something like RB2, this isn't quite it. However, if you're looking for a game that is great for parties and larger groups, this is it. (Just make sure you have the DS to take full advantage of all the features available). Without a DS, it's probably not worth the price. (and I'm not about to go out and buy the DS just for the game)
Finally, the game isn't very long. The Career mode is much shorter than RB. This is another disappointment for me. The first night of playing, we were able to get through most of the Career levels/gigs in 2.5 hours.
』
(A guilty pleasure... but great nonetheless!) 『There are 2 groups of people that typically play Guitar Hero: Those who are score obsessed... they are all about mastering the most challenging of songs and having the highest scores on the leaderboards. Then there are those who love having a group of their friends over to play plastic instruments and yell at the top of their lungs for hours on end. For the most part...I fall into the second category.
I have loved every entry in the Rock Band series, and more recently fell in love with Guitar Hero 5. However, these games have failed me in one vital area: the soundtrack for these games is kinda niche. Oftentimes when friends or family would come over for a "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band" party, it would turn into each of them taking turns scrolling through hundreds of alternative, progressive, or heavy metal songs until they find one or two that they know and KINDA LIKE... and since they don't necessarily own a Guitar Hero or Rock Band game, they aren't overly concerned about scores or anything like that...they just want to play music they know and love. That is where Band Hero swoops in to save the day (or at least save my party!!)
Rather than focusing on niche genres of music, Band Hero does the exact opposite... Band Hero's soundtrack is focused on Pop music. The very definition of POP MUSIC is music that is popular... songs that everyone knows and loves. And I have to say, Band Hero delivers. There is some great music on Band Hero. Granted, the setlist on Guitar Hero 5 was more appealing to me personally... but Band Hero's setlist will be a HUGE hit at my next party, which, thanks to Band Hero, will be more of a "Karaoke party that also features all of the cool Guitar Hero elements for those interested" than a "Guitar Hero party". Here are some of my observations about the game:
*The Music - As I mentioned, the game focuses on pop music, with artists ranging from Yellowcard to Hillary Duff to Taylor Swift to No Doubt and so on. There are several "guilty pleasures" songs that, while I wouldn't admit enjoying any other time, will be a HUGE hit when having friends over to play (especially my wife's friends)... like The Spice Girls, Taylor Swift, Joss Stone. There are even classic songs like "Rio" by Duran Duran, "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" by Culture Club, and "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas (right?)... and cmon...who can really claim not to love singing any of those songs? Sure, they are really easy to play on guitar/bass/drums for the most part.... but they are fun. Besides, if you want a challenge...check out the SONG IMPORT feature!
*Song Import: For a small fee, you can import 61 songs from Guitar Hero 5, and several of the songs from Guitar Hero Smash Hits and Guitar Hero World Tour. Before importing Guitar Hero 5 (and after importing smash hits and world tour), I already had a total of 140 songs available to play in Band Hero! So, in addition to the pop songs included on the disk, I am also able to include alot of the great and more challenging songs from Guitar Hero 5 (like "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "Medicate", and lots of other great stuff!!!)
*Downloadable Content: Like Guitar Hero 5 and Guitar Hero:World Tour, Band Hero includes an in-game music store that allows you to purchase additional songs. Hopefully, this means that, in addition to the more hardcore downloadable songs available for Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero will also be getting downloadable pop music! Also, most (if not all) of the dlc that you purchase for Guitar Hero 5 and Guitar Hero World Tour are AUTOMATICALLY playable in Band Hero! If, however, you want these to be excluded from Band Hero, there is a place in the Options menu that allows dlc to be disabled. With downloadable content and importing the songs from other versions of Guitar Hero, I should have a library of over 200 song available for playing in Band Hero by the end of the week!
*Band Hero = Guitar Hero 5 with more neon lights: Guitar Hero 5 for Wii is a game that any person with a Wii should own. Period. It was the first of the rhythm games to use high-capacity sd cards, effectively adding a hard drive to your Wii. It had AWESOME features like Party Play mode, drop-in and drop-out multiplayer, and the ability change difficulty on the fly. "Beginner" difficulty is also included, which will allow ANYONE to pick up this game and start playing, no matter what skill level. And then there was the AWESOME, Wii-exclusive "Roadie Battle" mode that allowed someone to sit on the sideline with a DS and sabotage other players.... PRICELESS!!! ALL of the features from Guitar Hero 5 are also implemented in Band Hero. That automatically makes Band Hero AWESOME. Period.
I really hope Band Hero sells well. Activision took a great game and made it more marketable. Between DJ Hero, Band Hero, and Guitar Hero 5, there is no longer any excuse for people not to jump in and enjoy rythym gaming. Unless you hate music and hate fun, you should own this game. =) Some parents/players were put off by some of the art style used in the Guitar Hero games (lots of skulls, demons, lightning bolts, and heavy metal)... and those people will be happy to know that the look and feel used in Band Hero is more family friendly...they've replaced those things with neon lights, starbursts, glitter, floodlights... it really feels like "Guitar Hero" meets "The MTV VMA Awards". I really enjoy the game, and hope you will too!!
My review scores:
Gameplay: 10/10 Difficulty: 8/10 (Anyone from grandma to seasoned hardcore guitar hero veterans can get loads of value out of this game) Presentation: 9/10 Lasting Value: 9/10 Overall: 9.5/10』 『Band Hero SAS Wii』 『
