(Good heater for the buck) 『I have had this heater for 1 month. We bought this to save money over the expensive propane cost for heating the high ceilings. This heater is ideal for small 10x12 rooms with closed doors. Looks sleak with an elegant design and a remote that allows control from distance. It doesnt take long for the room to hear from 61 in the morning to 71 and shuts off after the set temp is reached. One thing I dont like is the heater restarts too soon after shutting off (after it has reached the desired temp)...I have thermal windows and the heater is too sensitive to temp drops - leading to high energy costs. In addition, no trip-up control when a pet/kid hits the heater. It is relative quiet but i havent used it in the bedroom.』
(Almost burned my place down.) 『I bought this thing two weeks ago and it worked just fine at first. Last night I woke up sweating like mad and went over to the unit see why it was so hot in the room. The thermostat on the unit was reading 85 and was still running. I had it set to 70 and verified that it was still set to automatic for this temp. The power cord was scorching hot and probably would have caught fire if this happened when I wasn't at home. I will never buy another thing from Lasko for as long as I live.』

(Really awesome heater!) 『I bought one of these last year to put in my bedroom because I live on a three-floor townhome and the termostat is on the second floor. My bedroom is very large and the little heater did a great job warming it up. So I decided to get a couple more heaters, one for the guest bedroom and one for my basement office. They did such a great job and made my energy bill so much lower that I brought the guest room heater to the living room and turned off the central heat.
This year, I went to a store and saw them at a lower price, so I went ahead and bought another one to put back in the guest bedroom. They are really great because not only do they have remote controls, but they also have an auto setting, so you can program the temperature you want and just leave it on. Programming is as easy as pushing a button to set it higher or another one to set it lower, and the heater thermostat makes sure the room stays at about the temperature you set. This product is so good that two of my friends went ahead and bought some for their houses after they came over and I told them about how happy I am with them!
Here are my thoughts on this product:
PROS - light and easy to carry around if you want to move it from one room to another - durable, the ones I bought a year ago work as great as they did when I bought them - convenient and easy to use remote control - easy to use digital control on the unit - automatic temperature setting - heats up the space quickly, even larger rooms - does not use much electricity - nice design, easy on the eyes - cheap and small enough that you can get one for each room of your place - for multi-floored homes, if working with central heaters it will help level the heat throughout the place
CONS - after thinking a lot, I realized that the only con is that you have to be careful where you store the remote control during the summer. I had put the ones that are in rooms where there are drawers in the drawers, but can't remember where I put the remote for the unit in my living room. So, if you purchase this during the cold months, come up with a system for storing the remotes at a place you will remember by the time it gets cold again next year.

(Get the job done) 『At this price, I'd say this fabric shaver is like a treasure to me. It's inexpensive and get the job done. I used it on sweaters and jackets. It did remove the pills etc, although not as perfectly as I thought it would, but it did remove them as close as it could get to the surface of the cloth. I was worried it would cut the fabric if I pressed it too hard on sweaters but it was all good. No cut. I followed some tips that said just placed the sweater on a pillow and rub away the wrinkles first so it had a smooth surface, to prevent it from cutting holes. I also shaved the fabric using a circular motion. It works like magic. Really useful. I didn't have the issue of the shaver to die on me too, although I actually used it non-stop for almost an hour on my poor wool jacket that I threw accidentally into my washer (I didn't read the instruction tag that it should only be dry-cleaned only. You can't imagine the mess I got when I pulled it out from the washer. But this fabric shaver came to the rescue. Although I should also mention I had to remove the pills from the small container several times because it got full quite fast. But the salvation operation was successful and my wool jacket was saved). Probably will work best if you pause for 30mins or so between jobs. Most importantly, the batteries do last a very long time. I also used this on my car's seat clothes. LOVE IT! It's like all-purpose fabric shaver and saved a lot of my fabric-material items. Really really does a wonderful job. I would recommend it to everyone I know that needs a cheap fabric shaver.』
(Unless you live in a nudist colony you need this) 『My roommate got me one of these as a gift and it changed my world. Okay, that may be a bit strong, but it definitely changed it a bit. Previously when a sweater or a winter jacket got the little fuzz balls (typically at the wrists, elbows,etc) it would go to Goodwill. (Cooking Surface Great, Outside a Nightmare!) 『I purchased these approximately 2 years ago and absolutely loved their look, so much so that despite being branded by Rachael Ray, i still bought them! Anyhow, i will say the actual cooking surface is very easy to clean and is very durable.
Where this product has absolutely failed is the black finish on the outside of the pots. After about a year of use i started noticing that the finish was wearing. I finally realized one day when i was scrubbing with a soft brush that there were black splatter marks all over my sink. Apparently the finish was scrubbing right off. After that i gave up on handwashing and have simply used the dishwasher. Looking for a replacement set now and will likely give these ones to my brother for his cottage.

We got this DVD two months ago. Earlier in July we went camping with a bunch of family&friends. A couple of the older (3-6 Yr olds) made a see-saw from a 2x4 piece of wood laid over a big round log. My son was entranced. He kept asking for "up/down" and pointing at the see-saw. Now he walks around and say 'Up. Down." as he squats and stands. Too cute. I highly recommend this DVD』

Since I sing the bass part, I "auditioned" several other choral versions of "Angel's Carol" but I found their recordings sounded "muddy". Very difficult to distinguish the Altos from the Tenors, etc. Not so with this album and the Cambridge Singers have recorded a first class album of John Rutter's Christmas music. Fantastic!』

How amazing, delicate and worshipful this music is. Exquisite voices, perfectly balanced and harmonized by Rutter's arrangements.
There are so many favorites on this album. One delight is the Donkey Carol. It is written in an unever 5/8 time, so you have the feeling of being carried on a clumsy donkey!
Another is I Saw Three Ships. Very light and happy, with a key change that is like the opening of a flower. How Rutter does it, I can only marvel. "And he did whistle, and she did sing on Christmas Day in the morning!"
This is a perfect album to get you in the mood for Christmas. Light a few candles, turn down the lights, and put on this collection of music. There are 23 tracks, so you get a very good value. (Many of these have been published on earlier albums.)』

The only really great thing I can say is that its about time someone started carrying the Full Screen version. What good is wide screen if a person don't have one.』
(A Classic That's Gained A Bad Reputation) 『I'm probably one of the few people that likes The Lost World waaaaay better than Jurassic Park 3. Apart from Sam Neill and Laura Dern, I thought the acting was horrendous in 3 and about ruined the whole film. They didn't have much of a good script to work with, though. In this one however, everybody is great and Jeff Goldblum is brilliant as usual. I don't think the plot is as poor as people've made it out to be. It possibly could've happened, and sure the girl doing gymnastics on the raptor was silly but the trailer hanging over the cliff scene was much scarrier than anything on JP3. There's more deaths and violence in Lost World which could take away from the magic but it adds more to the concept that they're very dangerous creatures. Both Lost World and JP3 have a lot of action, but it feels overkill and monontonous in JP3. Maybe I'm being unfair and should watch the 3rd one again, but this movie definitley doesn't deserve all the criticism it's received!』

(Good Effects, Not Much Else - Very Disappointing) 『The second Jurassic Park movie, "The Lost World", was a huge let down from the first movie Jurassic Park (Widescreen Collector's Edition). While sequels seldom live up to the original movie, this one miss the mark by a wide margin. About the only thing to recommend about the movie are the outstanding CGI effects, everything else was poorly conceived and executed.
This movie centers around Dr. Malcolm (played heavy handed by Jeff Goldblum) as he tries to rescue his girlfriend (Julianne Moore) from more of Hammond's (brief appearance by Richard Attenborough) dinosaurs. There is also a brief appearance of Ariana Richards and Joseph Mazzello (Hammond's grandchildren from the first movie), but sadly they really play no part in this movie. What we get instead is Dr. Malcolm's young daughter (not a bad actress at all, but laughable casting) as a plot device to provide more incentive for the main characters to be heroic.
While most moves require some suspension of disbelief, this movie has plot holes so large that you could fit a herd of Brachiosaurus through them. All of the characters are caricatures that are so incredibly flat and poorly fleshed out that they act in ways no human would behave in a real life or death situation. The list includes Malcolm's non-stop "I told you so", the experienced field researchers ignoring basic interaction protocols, the daughter's surprising development of Ninja like fighting skills, the evil hunter who only wants to destroy something beautiful, the greedy incompetent corporate executive, and, perhaps most annoying of all, the "Earth First'er" who would jeopardize human life to save an animal. It is bad enough that the movie is tedious, but sadly it is also preachy.
Unfortunately this movie should be watched to get the full Jurassic Park experience, but don't take it too seriously.』 『In the low tradition of knockoff horror flicks best seen (or not seen) on a drive-in movie screen, Steven Spielberg's sequel toJurassic Parkis a poorly conceived, ill-organized film that lacks story and logic. Despite its ravishing widescreen visuals and glorious aerial combat sequences, Jan Sverák's wartime melodrama is a little too restrained for its own good, even when the two main characters become divided by Vetchý's unethical behavior. Performances are solid, but Sverák's intimate direction works against the film's epic sweep, and the result is neither one thing or another. Hádeklooks like a Bel Ami porn beauty, which is a huge plus, and Charles Dance makes a brief appearance in the role of a pompous RAF commander. 』
(DVD) 『The DVD was ordered for a Fathers Day gift&since my dad speaks fluent Czech he really enjoyed watching it....great story line. The fact that it took 26 days&numerous emails to get the movie to me is another story. Vendors need to provide customers with a shipping company&tracking # - when I finally got one out of this company---the USPS said it was invalid. I ended up having to overnight it to my dad for him to rec. it on time....costing me that much more cash. DVD itself....great!!』

It is more than just a war movie as it is also the story of friendship. Although most of the story is serious and has some very sad parts, from time to time, there are even some very funny scenes. The movie isn't entirely in Czech as about 1/3 in English; don't let something like reading subtitles keep you away from this great film.
The story mostly focuses on the interactions of two Czechoslovakian pilots: Franta and Karol. Franta is an older and a more experienced pilot and acts as a mentor to Karol, who is much younger. When the Germans occupy their country, they flee for England and fly for the British. Karol ends up falling in love with a married British woman, but she begins to desire Franta who is unable to resist. Clearly, one theme of the movie is can friendship be destroyed by the jealousy over the same woman.
The story takes place during World War II (1939 to the early 1940s) and in 1950, in a prison labor camp. It goes back and forth between the two time periods and we see how Franta isn't treated as a hero after the war but a potential threat to the Soviet occupiers. Oddly, the feeling one gets after the war is more dismal.
Dark Blue World is a beautiful film with a romantic flair to it. There is something striking about airplanes and sky battles. At the same time, it isn't a lifeless story purely about heroism or patriotism. It is more like a complicated, yet detailed, painting that pulls in many details and feelings to create an overall impression that is appealing to many different types of viewers. 』
(Blue Dark World) 『This is a very well written, directed, and acted film. It is gripping, entertaining, and engaging all throughout its length. The characters are real, the fears and hopes are real, and I just really enjoyed this movie.
The film follows the course of several Czechoslovakian pilots who cannot reconcile themselves to Nazi occupation of their homeland. They relocate their squadron to England and wait out the drudgery of inactivity until they are finally called upon to fight for the allied war effort against Germany.
The film shows very good aerial combat with accurate airplane (Supermarine Mark IV Spitfires, a B25 Mitchell - though this was mainly a Pacific theater plane, Messerschmitt Me 109) depictions. There are enough closeups so to think there is an entire squadron of these vintage planes still around, and my guess is computer graphics played a large role in these scenes, but the effect comes across as quality and not cheesy.
The lives of the piolts is the main theme of the story. They love, dream, hope, and struggle to survive. Life expectancies of pilots was measured in weeks, not years. Life had to be taken on the run. This film shows all of this. Its actors are capable and portray believable characters. The irony of the love story is kind of heart wrenching at the end.
I recommend this film on many levels. It is a good romance. Not graphic and raunchy, but tasteful and affectionate. It is a good war movie. It shows a side of the war most Americans are not familiar with. Czech pilots? What are those? Anyway, I really liked this movie.』

(Best Iron I have used) 『I am currently working for a company where I need to do some serious soldering on both through hole and surface mount circuits. We have two soldering stations; both have temperature control and are rated for about the same temperature. Of the two the Weller Digital is the only one I use anymore. It heats up quickly and can handle continuous soldering for over an hour of work. I like the digital display because in my case I work with some sensitive components that can't take much more than 250 degC (480 degF) and others that I need to use high temperature solder that doesn't flow until it hits about 350 degC (660 degF). The tip on it has lasted for a very long time, and comes nice and clean every time tin it. It can be set up to have the stand attached to the base on either side, or to be freestanding. The fact that it iron itself is grounded is nice for any static sensitive applications. It is easy to hold onto, and doesn't burn my hands like my iron at home. I plan on getting one of these soldering stations for myself to use at home ASAP.
If you can't afford this one I would recommend the Weller Analog version, which I used while going to school, and loved as well. 』
(Great Iron) 『I was able to use this iron at my workplace before deciding to purchase one for myself. I am an electronics technician by trade and also do repairs and fabrication stuff in my spare time at home. For years I used a weller 25 watt pencil iron that was probably 20 years old and I was quite happy with it however I felt I was ready for something a little better. I really wasnt sure if this iron would be able to do some of my larger tasks like splicing 12-14 gauge wires due to the amount of heat required but once you set the iron to the desired temperature it will remain there no matter what you are soldering. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of heat transfer I could get with the small tips.
The pencil itself is small and lightweight and very easy to manuever. The cord also wont melt with intermittent contact with the tip. Comes up to temperature very quickly and reponds quickly when you adjust the temp with the control unit.
I have found a temperature around 550 works good for typical 60/40 solder on average jobs as i typically like a hotter iron. I cant imagine what I would need to solder up in the 7-800 degree range. This setup has an adjustable temp from 350-850 degrees F. This iron wont replace a 130 watt gun for the large jobs but overall definetly 5 stars. A pleasure to work with and seems to be made well with a quality feel. I'm glad I invested in getting this vs another standard pencil iron.
If your spending this much on a solderin iron you probably know how to take care of the tip but its very important otherwise it will oxidize and you wont be able to solder anything no matter how high the temperature is set. The manual doesnt go into too much detail about this but basically you want to keep the tip cleaned and tinned before and after each joint.』

The filter seems to last a long time since I can't remember when I purchased it but I know it has been over 2 months and I fill the pitcher at least 3 times a day and usually more. My coffee taste great with PUR clean water and the pets get filtered water too. Make sure your refrigerator has a filter if you use an ice-maker. Unfiltered ice-cubes can ruin the taste and some could be blaming the Pur when it's actually the ice cubes ruining the taste. Overall I love the Pur and am saving a bundle over bottled water and all those bottle deposits and don't have bags of empty bottles waiting to be recycled. Plus I don't have to carry in those heavy cases of water. Now I just use the Brita for an extra pitcher in the frig and fill it with water from my PUR .』

This was very dissapointing as I was looking forward to clean, cold water on hot days. Amazon however, took the item back no problem. Since that time, the makers of zerowater tried to supposedly make a political statement by refusing to run ads during a particular show I listened to. After contacting the company,somehow they're advertising on it now. All that to say I still will buy one again, considering all reviews.』
(Avoid This Product) 『I bought this product to replace a PUR pitcher unit. The concept seemed fine -- I would be able to measure my drinking water and know without a doubt when the filter needed replacing (unlike the life of a PUR filter which is really a matter of faith. One month? Two? Three?) My municipal tap water has a horrible aftertaste, like a cross between sulfur and rotting grass clippings. I just can't believe it's good for one's health. The county assures us that it meets all applicable regulations, but I have my doubts.
According to the measuring device that came with the pitcher my tap water particulate concentration is in the 130-160 ppm range. This appears to be within the normal range for municipal water in the U.S ( I live in Virginia).
My first pitcher of Zero Water came out at "0", which made me happy. However, after less than 10 gallons of filtered water, the Zero Water filter rate began to slow down dramatically, even though the measurement read only 6 ppm. I would refill the upper chamber and an hour or so later it would still be half full. I shook it vigorously but this did no good at all. At this usage rate I estimated that I would be better off buying bottled water at about a dollar a gallon. The filters do not come cheap.
But, the most alarming thing of all was that towards the last couple of gallons of filtered water I would begin to feel "odd" after drinking a glass of water or a cup of coffee. The feeling is difficult to explain. I would become lethargic and my mental acuity would drop noticeably. I had difficulty remembering simple words or names. My joints and leg muscles would ache mildly. I had no energy, I walked around in a daze and felt as though I was 80 years old. In truth, it was as though I'd been give a soporific of some sort. The first time it happened, I thought it might be the beginnings of the swine flu, but the lethargy would pass after about 6-8 hours and I'd be better by evening. The next day the listless feeling would return again after drinking the filtered water. I did this ad hoc experiment a couple of times, and each time the result was the same. When I realized that it wasn't my imagination I grew very concerned about my long-term health. I tossed the filter and stored the pitcher away in my garage. Since then I've gone back to drinking store bought bottled water and feel like my old self again.
This is my conclusion: the Zero Water filter may well remove particulates, but I'm convinced that it concentrates them inside the filter and then releases them in a torrent when the filter has reached a certain point in its useful life. I suspect that the active culprit might be nitrites or nitrates in high concentrations that rob the body of the ability to transport oxygen. I view the Zero Water as a potentially dangerous product that, in its current form, should be taken off the market. I shudder to think what this type of contaminated water might do a child.』
(I Didn't Believe In This Pitcher - But I Was Wrong!) 『I have long been forced to think of myself as an inadvertent water snob. Most people seem to go through life drinking tap water or just simply buying whatever bottled water happened to be on sale the day they went to the grocery store, but I think that's because they really aren't big fans of water in general. I am a fan. Waters develop a REPUTATION with me. Tap water? Out of the question in all but the pickiest of municipalities, and even they aren't as great as the locals swear. I can taste it. If your water's got anything more than what's left behind after the reverse osmosis process, I know it. I can feel it. Tosh, people would say. You're full of it! But now with Zero Water, I know it to be actually true! More on that in a bit.
For years now I've been impatiently shrugging off the unwashed water drinking masses who are strident in their insistence that their Brita pitcher is GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM and they CAN"T TASTE THE DIFFERENCE between the output of their Pur tap filter and bottled water! Well, that's because you drink Arrowhead, I would rejoinder - you might as well be drinking tap water! Pff! You're just a water snob - the inevitable reply. And so it was that when I began seeing commercials for the Zero Water pitcher, I confess I didn't believe. A pitcher that could remove everything from your water - even better than RO? Yeah, right. WHATEVER, late-night television infomercial, I'll believe it when I see it. Just wait until I get my hands on your gimmicky little magic wand. Surely the fix was in and this was just snake oil.
Eventually, I purchased the pitcher, just to prove my point. Remember I said water had a reputation with me? Arrowhead? Rubbish. Nestle? Rubbish, but better than Arrowhead. Aquafina? Good. Sparklett's? Not bad at all. Dasani? Best. The RO system at my old house: heaven. I had samples of Dasani, Arrowhead and Nestle on hand when I brought the pitcher home and of course, Phoenix's horrifying municipal tap water - which is absolutely disgusting. I filtered a batch of tap water through the Zero Water pitcher, and while that was going, I tested the other waters. To my delight, EVERYTHING was in line with my expectations. Phoenix tap water: 460(!). Arrowhead: 230. Nestle: 075. Dasani: 016. And to my utter amazement, Zero Water: 000.
None of this would have mattered if it were not for the taste. The water that comes from the Zero Water pitcher does indeed taste like the finest bottled water ever to pass over your lips. I was really wowed. Until I ran the numbers.
One star is deducted in this review, though it must be said it is only partially Zero Water's fault. With Phoenix's tap water so ridiculously high in contaminants, even Zero Water itself says that we can expect to get only 8-15 gallons before the filter goes bad. Our filter went bad before two weeks was up (although we did have four house guests at the time). You can tell when the filter goes bad because the water has a sour, acrid aftertaste that is extremely unpleasant, even though the meter only reads 6. I don't rightly know how much water we got from the pitcher during that two weeks, but the numbers go like this:
A 24-pack of Dasani costs about $5. That amounts to 3.75 gallons. That's about $11 for 8 gallons (the low end of expectations from the Zero Water pitcher). At $15 then, Zero Water's filters are in fact more expensive than the bottled water I love. The high end of Zero Water's expectations for my tap water is 15 gallons. It would cost nearly $20 for me to buy that much bottled water, so the jury is still out in my case as to whether it is actually worth the money versus bottled water. But I do know one thing: even if it's more expensive, I'm not lugging around bottled water twice a week and polluting the environment with reams and reams of plastic when I use the pitcher, so you know - advantage Zero Water!
As to all the other complaints, I didn't find the pitcher to be flimsy or ill-designed at all. It only takes about five minutes for the water in the basin to go through the filter in my experience. Yes you have to fill it multiple times and yes the volume this pitcher holds is comparatively small - but in my personal opinion, all this can be forgiven in light of the incredibly high quality of the output. Ultimately, I think, I will not give up my installed RO water system, but until I can get that in the new place here, I'm happy to have my Zero Water pitcher.』
(A Marketing Success) 『The most successful aspect of the Zero Water container and filter is the marketing program for it. Who would guess that new filters for the cheap plastic pitcher would cost about $15 each, and apparently one has the choice of buying two or four filters at a time. The advertising leads one to believe that the neat included dissolved solids meter would read "0" after one's tap water passed through the large filter cartridge, but I've not seen a number less than the low 20's and then progressively higher with each addition of tap water to be filtered. They do promise that if it's not zero then it's not zero water, and that I believe. Just changed the filter cartridge and the results are the same with the new filter. The filtered water taste did remain neutral and stayed quite acceptable even as dissolved solids levels rose toward the unfiltered tap water level. This unit would be a better value if the replacement filters were half the price.』

If the script could have avoided gagging the viewer with a high-pressure liberal rant, this could have been a charming movie about a handsome cool widower President and a gorgeous and charming girfriend. That alone would, or at least could, have made for great entertainment. But no, we simply have to take our medicine in the form of 200 proof Leftist bias, and unfortunately many of us just can't choke it down.

I cannot understand why the Crest Spin Brush comes in forms attractive to children, yet the brush heads are so large. My dentist recommended a smaller electric tooth brush, so I bought the Oral B Vitality and it's been extremely reliable for over a year for both me and my son.
My only reason for giving less than 5 stars is that the brush head must be removed and the mechanism rinsed because toothpaste gets under there. The brush head is a little difficult to reattach for my 8 yo son and even for me. It would be nice if there was a better way to keep the brush clean instead of creating a breeding ground for bacteria underneath the brush head. Otherwise, I have not yet found a better replacement, especially not at this price point.
However, I will be buying 2 more of these brushes for my kindergarten-aged children.』

So yes, there is some degree of variance in low-end headphones, even of the same size and brand. The undemanding ear should find these perfectly fine, though. They sure look and feel decent.
But price has no bearing on ergonomics, and methinks the earbuds on this unit are angled inward a few degrees too far. Consequently, they feel a little annoying to wear.

(Nice device with one problem...) 『This device is a great external HDD. When you connect the device via USB 2.0, WD software launches; This software can be used to lock / unlock your files so that your valuable data is protected against unauthorized access. You can also use the device to backup your Windows/Mac system. (I haven't tried Linux system.) It is easy to partition the disk using Windows/Mac disk tools. You can even used it for Time Machine for the Mac OS X system after proper re-formatting.
It has a beautiful design, easy-to-understand lights in front. And comes with a USB dock if you purchase the Elite version - actually that comes with an additional LED in the front for disk usage.
The only problem that I found so far is its micro-USB connector. The connection is not so firm, so after mounting it for 30 times, it started to have loose connection. And sometimes have problem connecting the device to the system. It is okay when you don't move around your devices after connecting them. However, I found this not so pleasant when I was performing backup, and wanted to shift my laptop slightly because during moving the external HDD was disconnected from the device and the backup process was ruined.
It was still okay for me because I have a USB-dock which makes the connection much firm, but since I don't want to carry the dock all the time, I try to use this HDD with gentle care because of the loose connection.
My suggestion: If you are not planning to use it while you're moving like in an airplane, train, etc. it will cause not so much problem. If you are worried about the connection problem, maybe the dock will help you. Other than that, it is definitely a great device!』

Windows will detect this secret partition as a new virtual CD-ROM device every single time you plug in the drive, and pester you with the "Found New Hardware" wizard, unless you install the unwanted drivers (unforgivable just on principle, to say nothing of contributing another layer of useless drivers to the house of cards we call Windows).
Contrary to a previous reviewer's comments, removing the drive letter of the virtual CD-ROM drive does not eliminate the wizard pestering. (Windows doesn't care if the virtual device has a drive letter or not; it simply recognizes the new device each time the drive comes alive and doesn't know what to do with it, hence the nagging.)
A tolerable drive for grandma or the kids, but an abomination for the rest of us who know better. Mine's going back, hopefully to find new life as something more useful, like a hockey puck.』

A unique visual interface lets you see the drives connected to your computer.
WD SmartWare will automatically scan your computer and find all of your personal files, including e-mail.
Content category gauges show how much information you have to be backed up in each category. You can even mouse over a category to see a file count.
Simply click Run Backup and WD SmartWare will automatically start backing up your files.
As your backup is running the category gauges will change color showing you the backup as it happens.
When finished, you’ll see a status screen and information about your backup. You only have to do this once. After the first backup your files will be backed up automatically every time you change or add a file.

I have an iMac with TimeMachine, and this drive was purchased to hold the TimeMachine data. Being that it is a backup device, and that TimeMachine runs periodically at regular intervals, the drive has been powered up virtually 24/7 since it was installed.
I partitioned the drive into two segments. Mysteriously, about two weeks ago, one of the volumes disappeared. I ran Disk Utility and TechTools on it, and the reports said that it could not be repaired. So I erased it (without zeroing out the data). Last week, I was astonished to see that the volume had somehow been resurrected without me doing a darn thing to it - there it was, back again, with all the data still on it. Very odd.
About the same time that the volume disappeared, I began having problems with my Mac freezing up if left unattended for a while. This is also very odd, I have never had that sort of problem with a Mac. I actually had to resort to shutting it down when I walked away to prevent the freezes - logging out didn't even work. Disk Utility and TechTools reported that both the iMac drive and the external drive were fine. I have not downloaded anything funky from the Internet. Hmmmm...
Yesterday I decided to try simply unplugging the external drive's USB, just to see what would happen. Sur-prise, sur-prise, no more iMac freezing up. So, obviously, there is a problem with the external drive.
Unfortunately, my whole year's worth of backup data is now history, literally. I am now in the process of erasing the external drive, zeroing out the data (this takes awhile on a 1T drive!), and will try it again as a backup device to see if the problem merely was corrupted files. This solution may be extreme, but there's not much else to do if the utilities can't find anything to fix.
All in all, this is a cheap drive, and you get what you pay for. It did last longer for me than it did for some other folks, so I suppose that I shouldn't be too harsh. However, one would expect an Iomega product to be more reliable. Will update this review regarding whether erasing the disk and starting over solved the problem.

(Good HD at a Good Value) 『Had this about a month now and it's doing the job, quietly and consistently. I use this mainly for my iTunes. I have a massive collection and filled up a Maxtor terabyte HD. Or just about; it's still my back-up with about 10GB of space left. But I'll soon have to get another 1.5 TB and won't hesitate to get another of these for the task. It's a tad slower than I'm used to with the Maxtor (which has Firewire for my Mac), but I'll get used to it. Patience is a virtue. And it doesn't seem completely compatible with the sleep function (light stays on, unlike the Maxtor). But these are minor quibbles. I now have peace of mind with all my music safely in 2 locations, and the attendant hard work I've put into it cataloging everything. Not to mention all the artwork not available from iTunes (which anyway is quite often flat-out wrong) for rarities, etc. Reformatting it for Mac was a snap with the clear instructions provided. Wish it had a Firewire option, though...』

I have been extremely pleased in every case with the appearance, performance, and reliability of the Iomega external drives. They are very quiet and cool when operating. I do not leave them on constantly since they are used for backup and often are removed from the computer area for safety purposes. I would strongly recommend the Iomega drives.』
(Good Drive, but won't boot with win7) 『Overall, this drive works well. Great construction, good looks, and quiet drive. I bought this to store all my data when upgrading to Win7. Bad news was that my OS wouldn't boot if the drive was hooked up and on. The boot sequence would stall until I flipped the power off on the drive (GREAT feature by the way - a power switch - most ext HDs don't have that). Then the boot sequence would continue and I could turn the drive right back on. I've got a new Dell that's less than a year old. Not sure why this is a problem. Tried finding the "legacy usb" option to turn off in the BIOS, but it's not in the dell bios. This could be a Dell problem, but I haven't been able to experiment with a different brand HD. Great drive, but watch out for compatibility with Dell desktops.
