『I used to own the regular Salad Shooter and wore it out...loved it.

『I waited a long time to order the salad shooter because finances were tight and the time didn't seem right. Finally, I ordered it and now all my slicing and shredding dreams are coming true before my very eyes.

It used to take me forever to cut up veggies for soups, so I often didn't get around to it as much as I would have liked. With the salad shooter, I now pop in whole onions, potatoes, carrots, parsnip, celery, squash, cabbage, and whatever else I can think of, and just shoot it right into my slow cooker. I top it with chicken or beef, herbs and other seasonings and just walk away for several hours. Before you know it, I have beautiful soup to eat and share with my friends. (I'm becoming very popular these days since I got my salad shooter, I kid you not.)

I hate slicing onions and now I no longer have to. The only two complaints I have about this product is that it only slices and shreds, but doesn't chop foods. However, if you don't mind things in a sliced shape, then this probably won't affect you. The other thing is that I wish it could slice a little bit thicker slices. The directions indicate that it takes practice and that each time you use it will be easier. This is true and my results continue to be better each time.

『It just might be me but I see some inconsistencies. The show must have taken years to film because either the kids grew up or there are different kids towards the end. It does not look like Mika Boorem in the segment "Hot, Hot, Hot", In the segment "Set Your Name Free"
the lead-in looks different than the song itself as far as Caitlin Wachs, in the song she resembles Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen. Also in the same segment one minute Brenden Clark has sunglasses on his head, then no sunglasses, then sunglasses, then no sunglasses. There must have been some editing. Actually to me it looks like Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen is also in the next segment "Surfin' Safari". In the segment "Set Your Name Free" Brenden Clark looks taller than Mika Boorem, but in the lead-in segment to "Three Littles Fishies" where they are taking the pictures Mika looks taller than Brenden, but in the last segments Brenden looks taller than Mika again. I like the show despite these inconsistencies.』

『My daughter first saw this show, well a few mins of it on YouTube. She loved it! We bought her the DVD for Xmas and she watches it everyday. She sings and dances to all the songs. Not a bad price for the DVD either.』

(Not as Fun as "Disneyland Fun," But...)
『After my infant daughter so enjoyed the "Disneyland Fun" DVD, I decided to get this one for her. While she enjoys seeing the costumed Disney characters and the lively songs, she did not enjoy this one as much and neither did I. Filmed on location at Walt Disney World in 1995, this video features a group of very hyper children dancing and singing alongside the characters.

Grown-ups familiar with the Disney parks will enjoy spotting the different Florida locations as backdrop. Scenes were filmed outside the Grand Floridian and Polynesian resorts, near Fort Wilderness, in World Showcase lagoon at Epcot, and even at the backlot of the MGM Studios (doubling unconvincingly for the childrens' own homes and neighborhood).

I was disappointed to see that, unlike the "Disneyland Fun" DVD, this one did not offer a second bonus program in a different language. "Disneyland Fun" offers an entirely different second program shot at Disneyland Paris which doubles the running time of that DVD to one hour. My advice is to purchase that one instead, but if you want two or more singalong DVDs, this one is a pretty good second choice.』

(Truly A Wonderful World)
『The sweet CD cover photo is a perfect indicator that the music inside will make you feel like you're wrapped in a warm embrace. It's gentle, playful, and jazzy and harkens back to another era when singers crooned. You can hear piano keys being tickled and bass strings being plucked. I happen to be more of a kd lang fan, and yet thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration, whether they sang by turn or together in harmony. If you want to slow down your day and put a smile on your face, this should do it.』

(Wonderful)
『I love the duet concept records and I am a big k.d. Lang fan and when I heard this record was coming out I was very excited. A wonderful combination of voices singing classics, and the title track makes this record perfect. I was not a big Tony Bennett fan beforehand, but became one because of this.』

(The Music Stays With Us)
『"A Wonderful World,"(2002), a collection of duets by Tony Bennett and K.D. Lang, to songs inspired by the legendary New Orleans trumpeter Louis Armstrong, included "What a Wonderful World," "Exactly Like You," and "You Can Depend on Me." It was produced by the near-legendary T Bone Burnett, and includes trumpet work by Scott Hamilton. Of course, in 2002, the New York-born crooner was 76 years old; and his voice was not what it once was: but still, the embers of it, with its liquidity, smoothness, intonation and phrasing are enough to cast his light upon the world. Critic Howard Garwood wrote of him, "He has the face you'd want on your neighborhood bar owner - seamed, rumpled, and infinitely kind.... It's the face of a man who has seen life and triumphed, and who proclaims his joy of living through one of the best sets of pipes in the business."

And as for K.D. Lang's voice, 2002 found it still in top form. It's a thing of unearthly, silken beauty, a voice that comes along only once in a generation: in her case, from Alberta, Canada. I remember seeing her once on late night television, early in her career, wearing the silliest cowgirl outfit and hopping up and down, and wishing I could tell her that with her voice, she didn't need to hop, she could leave that to Herman's Hermits. Of course, I couldn't, but she seems to have figured it out, anyway.

The title song, as done by this pair, boasts all the colors of the rainbow. And some of the quieter ballads are still waters running deep, indeed. Just listen, to say, "La Vie En Rose," or "If We Never Meet Again."

I am lucky enough to have seen this pair present this repertory in person, at New York's Radio City Music Hall, in the most striking of circumstances, to wit: late September, 2001, about two weeks after the 9/11 destruction of the World Trade Center, and so much of downtown Manhattan. I already had my ticket, and anxiously watched the paper to see if they would keep the date: they did, and so did I. So did most of the ticket holders, I believe: there were empty seats, but not that many. Took ages to get through security, of course. You can believe that emotions ran high in that theater, on stage and in the audience: you could describe it as a love-in. And as for the music that came from that stage - it was simply blessed, and unforgettable. Lucky for all of us, the music, so evanescent in live performance, stays with us on this cd.

(Tony, it's over....)
『Listening to Bennett on this CD is like listening to post-1965 Sinatra. They're both just faking it, but, due to their iconic status, they get away with it. On this CD, Lang just plain carries Tony, which is the only reason I gave it 2 stars.

Take a pass on this one and the 'Duets' album; age has caught up with Bennett. Instead, give a listen to 'Fifty Years: The Artistry of Tony Bennett'. Hearing his early material will make the deterioration in Bennett's voice quite obvious and make you wonder if it's really the same vocalist.

Time marches on and it's cruel what it has done to Bennett's range, but, thankfully, the great work of his early and middle years is still around....』

『Never mind the project's odd couple, "He's got a girlfriend; so does she" marketing shuck. This is a musical love affair in all its splendor. Produced by the seemingly chameleonic producer T Bone Burnett (who previously revived traditional bluegrass with spectacular success onO Brother, Where Art Thou?), the septuagenarian legend and his unlikely contemporary foil affectionately court a dozen songs from the Louis Armstrong repertoire with the warmth and natural grace that have been a deceptively effortless Bennett trademark for 50-plus years. The pair kick proceedings off with a playful, irony-free "Exactly Like You," then perform a tender vocal waltz across both the ages and the masterful, sympathetic orchestrations of the late Peter Matz, one of Bennett's longtime collaborators. But it's on the more melancholy performances, like "If We Never Meet Again," "I'm Confessin'," and the Armstrong perennials "Wonderful World" and "Lucky Old Sun," that the pair tap into something akin to timeless musical telepathy. Her own talents hardly in need of burnishing, lang invests the project with some gratifying new smokiness and is rewarded with a postgraduate course in saloon singing for the ages. 『This is a perfect collection for the holidays, or any occasion. I have the complete Winter Solstice set, and lost the first album in a divorce. This seems to be out of print, but found a like new, perfect one on Amazon. I would highly recommend these for anyone who likes to sit and comfortably relax to soothing music. Steve』

『Mellow, almost too much so, instrumental only. Would be good for background in a store of someplace, but not engaging.』

(This is how traditions begin)
『This disc is way, way up there among the best in the series - and this whole series is a "must have" in my book. Most of the songs in this series, and certainly in this disc, would not be considered traditional Christmas music. But for me, the season would lose much of it's charm without this playing in my home. Traditions become traditions because they are enjoyable, and if you give this series (and especially this volume) a chance, you won't regret it.

Lastly, the 30th anniversary of Windham Hill Winter's Solstice discs came and went in 2006. Too bad - a commemorative effort would have been most welcome.

(Seasonal mood music to surround yourself in)
『This CD and likewise this review is aimed at those who know Windham Hill and appreciate the music put out by the company. It seems logical to presume that if you're reading this review, you enjoy the music that embraces new age, world, smooth jazz and light classical genres.

Indeed, as others have pointed out, this is a new recording and has different material than the original Winter's Solstice. In fact, I'll admit that I was disappointed not to find"Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"here.

Nevertheless, this is uplifting and inspiring music for the season. You'll find some traditional such as"Greensleeves","Come All Ye Shepherds","Down In Yon Forest", along with Handel's"Col Partir La Bella Clori", Orlando Gibbons'"The Silver Swan", and the notable"Queen's Prayer"by Hawaii's last queen, Queen Lili'uokalani.

But you'll also find the originals composed by some of the performers such as Richard Schonherz, Tracy Silverman, Jim Brickman, W.G. Snuffy Walden, Will Ackerman and Philip Aaberg, Liz Story, and Tim Story to be the equal if not sometimes better than ther older ones.

This is for those who can find a depth of sound and beauty in quiet and simple music, who can enjoy the depths of the instrumentation without thinking it bland, boring or repetitive.』
『Since the Windham Hill imprint'sWinter Solsticeseries was born in 1985, the concept has gone through some changes, bottoming out with 1999's abysmally kitschyWinter Solstice on Ice. With thisSilver Anniversary Edition, Dawn Atkinson, who produced the firstWinter Solsticedisc, has gone back to her original concept of nontraditional seasonal music and novel arrangements of Christmas classics. She's also brought in some old standbys, soliciting works from Paul McCandless, Barbara Higbie, Will Ackerman, Philip Aaberg, and Liz Story.

Much of this newWinter Solsticeturns on classical themes. Ex-Kronos Quartet cellist Joan Jeanrenaud teams with guitarist Steve Erquiaga on an airy Handel piece, and McCandless adapts Orlando Gibbons's "The Silver Swan." Others explore traditional carols, including Erquiaga's double-guitar filigree on "Greensleeves." As with past titles in this series, the best compositions are usually the originals.

Keyboardist Tim Story, aWinter Solsticestalwart, unfolds another gorgeously melodic ambient chamber piece called "What Comes December." Tracy Silverman and Thea Suits turn in a wistful duet for electric violin and flute, and TV composer W.G. Snuffy Walden goes soft focus on "Moon Lake." While "Beneath the Trees," by Ackerman and Aaberg, seems born in the snow-covered trees of Ackerman's Vermont home, Hawaiian Ozzie Kotani's "Queen's Prayer" seems to have nothing to do with the season. These stars, a supporting cast Bobby Cox and the best pitching coach in the National League were constants that brought the Braves a consistent string of East Division Championship and numerous National League Championships. But when it came to the World Series something would happen to cause them to lose the World Series often close exciting series like th 1991 series against Minnesota or 1996 and 1999 against the Yankees. But during this great run 1995 was the only series they actually won! This may come as a surprise to many baseball fans.』

(Experienced composter says "this doesn't work")
『I have been composting for years with excellent results using a standard open top bin. I wanted to like this product due to the fact that I would not have to manually turn the compost with a shovel, and could scoop out what I needed into a bucket. I also liked the enclosure to keep pests out. Unfortunatley, I could not get this to work. I think it is the fact that the contents do not get enough air, the compost stays too wet, and it does not break down fast enough. All I got was sulfur smelling goo. My traditional bin next to it is filled with a black, coffee ground-like compost filled with fat healthy worms... I am going to try to use this item as a "keeping bin" to store my already broken down and screened compost from my other bin. If you are new to composting, this item is not for you. Also, I am leery about how long the aluminum legs are going to last on this thing...I would say this item was a waste of time and money....』

(Good composter for the purpose I have in mind)
『I chose this composter because it was mostly plastic and easy to handle for its size. I read previous reviewers say they had some difficulty in attaching the stand to the main body of the composter with only one person putting it together. I found that if you lay the body of the composter on the ground and attach the stand that way, it was quite easy to do. Plus, I used the body like the front wheel of a wheel-barrow to move it around. Other suggestions I found useful were coating the sliding door opening with oil/grease for easy sliding, and adding some manure and/or scoops of soil to speed up the composting process.
I started my first batch in late October 2009 and it seems to be processing okay (although a bit slowly due to the cold weather and I expected that). If I get a batch before winter gets here, I'm happy with that.』

(Easy composting)
『Initially this horizontal composter was not the easiest to assemble. But aside from that it's been a dream. I like the slide door which makes for easy add to's as well as emptying the drum. Highly recommend it if you're into composting.』

(It is a good composter with a few caviats)
『First of all, I found that rain seeps into the composter if you leave the opening pointing upward. Too much water can make the whole composting process go anaerobic, so it will smell like human feces, or pickles and composting will take much longer.

Second problem with the composter is that it will come without tools to put together. It is easy enough to put together, but would it have been too much to ask for a small wrench and an allankey for the bolts?

I bought this composter a month ago to compost bedding from the cage of my two rabbits. I made a mistake of using too much water so the whole thing went anaerobic and started smelling. I also bought second composter because I will need a second one while the first one is cooking. I have not emptied the composter yet, but I have a feeling it might be a challenge. I will need some kind of a crate that is low enough to fit under the composter (to dump compost) but big enough to hold all of the compost.』

The workout includes six sections&finishes with a dance that involves many of the learned moves. (Luscious - Bellydance Workout; for Beginner? NOT!)
『This is another great DVD from WDNY However, I would not recommend it for any Beginner Student, as I think it is more for someone at Intermediate or Advance level. One the positive side -- I love the dance movements, the way the movements are grouped, the costumes, lighting, etc.

But on the negative side, the directions (left and right) threw me off. I guess I am used to "mirroring" the dance instructor -- whether on a DVD or at a dance workshop; without using an actual mirror. When I teach my dance classes, I use a mirror -- so when I call out left or right, it is actually left or right.

Another thing that irritated me on this DVD (and many others) is having any type of "Welcome" speech. Welcome speeches and Introductions should be placed on the video, as an optional chapter feature. You only need to hear it just ONE time! I time my workouts and it is irritating to have to fast forward through the Welcome or Introduction each time I use a DVD. The welcome/introductions are so inconvenient. I find myself shouting at the TV, just shut up and get to the dancing!!!

I teach beginner students, but won't recommend this one to them (yet); but will recommend it to my more advanced or intermediate students.』

He positively critiques Hernando de Soto's approach ot providing title to land to the poor as a means of securing collateral-based loans and shows where small, uncollaterized loans can work even more effectively.

Great as a serious academic yet never boring treatment of "high" and "low" finance. Should be required for most college majors.』

『this makes me happy. my dentist told me to get one. it works as advertised. i like to brush my teeth and i even floss now since i don't have to do the back and forth with an old fashioned toothbrush. the 2 minute timer gives me some sense of accomplishment.』

(No "bells and whistles," but it does the job!)
『I bought this Oral-B toothbrush to replace one that died after more than a decade. I chose this model because it costs about one-third to one-half as much as most of the current Oral-B models, and because it has the "old" controls: separate buttons to turn it on and off. The newer, more expensive models use a single-button setup that cycles through four settings - high, medium, low and off - which is a hassle IMHO. Also, the single button is placed where it is easy to depress by accident. The old arrangement, which is used on this model, is better. Some reviewers say that it is less powerful than the ones of yesteryear, but it seems fine to me. I just hope it lasts as long as my old one!』

(Good deal for the price)
『This is my second one as the other one crapped out after a few years. Although it appears to have lasted longer for others, its still a good deal and do recommend to family and friends.』

(Best one we have used so far...)
『This version has a much more powerful motor that feels LOTS more durable (based on our first couple weeks use) than two other versions of the Oral B brush we have had. A "Vitality" model before this and still another one before that but I cannot remember the model name. All of these provide a completely satisfactory or better brushing job. We hope this one can last a long time. We like the built-in timer feature. I have also found that I like the brush heads with the inter-dental yellow things that get in between teeth a little more than the regular head, but the cost difference isn't easy to justify. My wife doesn't think they are worth the difference.

Both of the earlier models have batteries that now run down too quickly. We share a unit so it gets two people's use each day. We don't like to keep the unit and the charger out on the counter and plugged in all the time. We've usually been able to charge just on the weekend and have it last all week. The new one doesn't seem to last any longer between charges than the old ones did when they were new, but it is certainly more powerful. Maybe it uses the charge up a little faster. We are hoping for a longer battery life this time. Meaning: it holds a week's worth of charge for a reasonable amount of years...like at least a couple of years...before becoming a nuisance. We have three units now that all work, but two won't hold a week's worth of charge, or even a couple of days worth, and we are forced to be charging them too frequently...think: nuisance.

BTW -- I actually replaced the battery on the first unit we got...I found a battery by taking the original battery to a Batteries Plus store...but the removal/replacement process is tricky and I would not recommend it unless you feel very comfortable soldering and aren't clumsy or impatient. It worked a reasonable length of time, but the battery cost was half of the cost of a new unit, so think about that a while.』

I tested a couple of different chairs until I found the right fit and from there this is my new best friend. The selection of how and where to massage really is a great way to zero in on the "right spot." The heat is especially nice in the winter. It is so relaxing it puts me to sleep.

I can see the problem some of the shorter people have with the neck roller things. I'm not tall but I don't put them all the way down. I do however sit all the way back and sit up straight. If I slouched, they would be too high for me.
(The neck roller balls have a button to adjust for them to go higher or lower.)

It's nice because for the back part, you can do the whole back or the lower back and you can do JUST the lower-lower back too. You can also do a 'rolling' massage on the whole back or lower back which isn't as intense as the shiatsu massage.


I love this so much I'm going to get the ankle/leg/calf shiatsu massager.

The only thing I DON'T like is that it shuts off automatically after 15 minutes.』

『Having to sit in an office chair in front of a computer monitor for 10 hours plus every day, my neck, shoulders, back and even glutes get stiff and sore. I see a massage therapist once a month to keep me from becoming completely rigid.

Over the years I've tried several types of hand-held massagers and was always disappointed with the results. I bought this one on a whim on sale at a retail chain store and tried it today. All I can say is: WOW! I have a zero gravity recliner which I reclined all the way back so my body weight was on the massager. It was almost like having your own personal massage therapist. I am short, only 5'3" but I had no trouble adjusting the upper rollers to massage my shoulders in various places. Ahhhh. Relief.
