(Must read it)
(If you've come this far, there is already no turning back: Resign yourself to this book.) It was awesome!!!!!!!! i loved it! at was like new when i go it. and it was one of the best books i ever read. it wasn't actual manga 'cause it not a comic but it was just like reading a manga as far as plot and stuff. and the art was fantastic. I like this books because it thaks me in. I'm not a big reader but I read it in 2 days. The story flows and I want to know what happens next. A good advise read it!!! Volume three of the Only the Ring Finger Knows novel series, The Ring Finger Falls Silent, suffers many of the same problems that its predecessor, The Left Hand Dreams of Him, did. Again it is translated by Duane Johnson, and again it suffers many instances of awkward sentence structure, and particularly very confusing dialogue and unquoted or even not so much as clearly defined thoughts. It is however an improvement in quality over the last volume (did DMP perhaps read my previous review and take notes? Too much to hope for, I know...), which was almost laughable for its many typographic and grammatical errors. There were also a number of instances of hyphens attached to the word "in" and a word to follow it, that seemed very out of place (was I the only one drawn to this?).
Odagiri's illustrations are again beautifully drawn, but of course, as in volume 2, they are out of place. Each of them seem to be several pages late in this volume, and in a few of the more pivotal moments, the allure that would have been added to the scene is lost and the scene has changed focus by the time the reader gets to experience the illustration. Very unfortunate.
That aside, this installment doesn't hold quite as much emotional power as the previous two installments. As the loyal readers, which if you have followed these awkward DMP localizations you must be to plow through a third book, we get our Yuichi/Wataru fix satisfied. Their love is as strong for each other as ever, but always at a difficult price. Their relationship is only known to a few, and the number of people who know and do not approve is on the rise, as we discovered in volume 2. Shohei in particular makes his intentions and reasonings behind his attitude towards his younger brother's relationship known and he hatches a plot to drive a wedge between them in part 2, Your Confession in Both Hands. For his part, Asaka in part 1, also makes his intentions, long suspected by Yuichi, and us, known to Wataru as well with some forward and desperate, and ultimately hopeless, actions. Don't worry though, everything, like it always does to fill our hearts with warmth reading the books of this wonderful series, works out just fine for our boys in the end.
The Ring Finger Falls Silent is quite a bit longer that the second novel, which itself was quite a bit longer than the first novel (about 50 pages increased each volume) and therefore took me an extra hour or two to get through. More for your money I suppose.
The love scenes are more descriptive in this volume, for those who are interested in the graphic romantic bits, but there are fewer scenes of Yuichi an Wataru's physical relationship. Instead of being merely flowery some actual spacial detail is provided, though it still retains the beauty of Kannagi's poetic style.
The afterward by Kannagi herself is probably the most hopeful part in the whole book, though. Within those few pages we are revealed that this storyline is not quite done with and we can look ahead to more novels from our fair author and her loyal illustrator chronicalling the deep love and bond of our heroes, Yuichi and Wataru, in the coming years. After all the studying he did for his exams, sacrificing time with his boyfriend Yuichi, Wataru gets a measly C-average on his summer prep test. Yuichi's college classmate Asaka offers to tutor him, and he eagerly accepts. Wataru finds Asaka's cool beauty and attitude strikingly similar to that of Yuichi's, and subconsciously becomes vulnerable to his advances. For the first time in their relationship, Yuichi becomes enraged. Will they be able to overcome this new obstacle?! (Perfect!)
(yumm yaoi)
(Great YAOI Fundamental)
(A Sexy Collection!) When I had bought the manga and was waiting for it to be sent I could only imagen what I'd be reading when it got to me.
Well when I had recived it and read it I was: A. pleased & B.Disapointed
Pleased that it had all that I love about yaoi in general! I was disapointed that some of the stories where so damn short! I would have loved to seen some of them go a little longer. Seen what happened to them more into the future. I'd give a more detail into which stories should have had more, but really its all but the main story. Others might say otherwise but it is my opinion in the end. lol
So yeah buy it if you really must have it, but if you can find it on the web then read it there. Worth every penny!
The art is beautiful, the plot is enjoyable, and the sex is orgasmic.
I could read this over and over again! Awesome yaoi. thats all you can say. after you read this you will love it. S.P. is great. I dont know about everyone else but thats what my friends and I call it so people dont look at us like we're weird This is the manga that the anime OVA was born from. If you liked the anime, you will love the manga. There are a handful more one-shots, in addition to Sensitive Pornograph, and Trophies Belong in the Bedroom (the pet-sitter story). Many of the "invisi-c**ks" have been restored extremely well, and the artwork is fantastic. I would call this a definitive YAOI title, and guarantee that you will want it on your bookshelf or nightstand! An anthology of 6 stories with explicit and well done sex in all except one. "Sensitive Pornograph" is sexy as one up and coming manga artist falls heads over heels for a renown, much older but beautiful fellow manga artist. There may be no sex in "Please Kiss me" but it is outrageously funny. "Non Adult Situation" about 2 childhood friends affirming their love years later may sound familiar but it is endearing. Readers may be disturbed by one panel of 2 naked kids... "Indirect Youth", in which one bratty seme rapes the older uke, may not be for everyone but this is Yaoi, right! And the photograph is hot. "Trophies Belong in the Bedroom" with a mild dose of BDSM is funny though a trifle uncomfortable when the poor uke gets beaten up.
My favorite is the last story, "Come Home". Gouzou-kun and Mari are childhood friends turn lovers. They are separated by one unfortunate incident which forced Mari into an unhappy marriage. Gouzou-kun tries to move on in life, buys a house to settle down with a woman. The relationship falls apart and Gouzou-kun is burdened with a 30 years morgage payment on his house. 6 years later Mari appears at his door, twin kids in tow, with a battered face. And it is up to the seme to get his sweet uke back. This little story is heartwarming, sweet, tender and the abusive spouse situation is sad. Love the ending.
The artwork may not be the best but the story lines are enjoyable and pretty unique and of course plenty of sex to satisfy. Being with an older lover is hot on just so many levels...Seiji-kun is a novice manga artist. He's also completely addicted to the body of the incredibly beautiful Sono-san, despite the fact that Sono-san is a guy. Is this love? Along with the title story, one that paints a tale of youth and emotion, this volume is filled to the brim with stories of overwhelming density, including "Not Just When it's Convenient" and "Let's Go Home." This title features a total of six stories in all. Rerations < Sensitive Pornograph (Yaoi) >

(Yaoi With Depth and Intelligence)
(Like some story with your smut?)
(Excellent story, but a little pricey)
(I'll buy vol. 2) I agree with the other reviewer, how the author goes into details about police system of Japan.I wondered how much research the author did. It wasnt easy to get throught that part but it sure makes it an interesting read. The way the characters unfolds pleases me. The thought that keeps bugging me is the idea of a "bishonen" pretty boy undercover detective. I somethimes wished there is more revealed about Andou's hidden desire but I guess that is left for the reader's imagination. I love the color page illustration and the rest. This one is a keeper. This is the only yaoi series I have ever enjoyed, and I have tried numerous titles. If you're looking for nothing but plot-less sex, this series is not for you. There is sex, yes, but so so much more.
S is a deeper, more involved story that takes its time to develop characters, their relationships, their surroundings, and all the events that are tying them together. It's mature and raw, and it demands full attention from its reader.
It has incredible back story, a vast display of Japanese Criminal Justice intuitive, and intelligent dialogue and motive for its characters. There are times when I am blown away by how smart these novels are, how well-crafted they are for their genre.
S is a rarity, a definite must-buy series of novels for yaoi fans and manga readers alike. "S" is a novel about a police detective undercover in the red light district known as Shinjuku. Our main character is Masaki Shiiba, a 28 year old detective specializing in intelligence gathering specific to arms trafficking. The "S" in the title is short for "spy" and Shiiba's spy (informant) in the story is Andou, who is a member of the local crime syndicate. The story revolves mainly around Shiiba, Andou, a Chinese arms dealer and a "mysterious" stranger Shiiba first meets on an elevator. If you like a little story to go with your [....], then this is the story for you. It is very detailed but it has some delicious sex scenes that are beautifully written. The book itself has a sexy cover along with a VERY erotic color illustration as the very first page of the book. The rest of the story includes ten black and white illustrations scattered throughout that are well drawn and the men are drawn in a masculine fashion. There is a second volume to this story that was just released (and that I have eagerly waiting for me) so we'll get to see more of this one including volumes 3 and 4 that have yet to be released (but are available for pre-order on Amazon.com). I read a lot of M/M fiction, both erotic romance and other genres that feature such relationships. I also read a ton of yaoi manga, but this is only the second "yaoi novel" that I have read (the other was Ai No Kusabi The Space Between Volume 1: Stranger (Yaoi Novel)). I enjoyed this story very much, and consequently ordered a few more yaoi novels to try.
Unlike yaoi manga, there is room for much more story and relationship development in a prose novel. For those wondering, the main differences (that I can see) between yaoi novels and M/M fiction is the inclusion of illustrations and the relationship dynamic, specifically the carry-over of the uke/seme roles. In M/M fiction, most gay men like to "switch" between top and bottom in the sexual relationship. In yaoi, one man is the bottom (uke) and one the top (seme). That is certainly the case here. Shiiba is a detective in Tokyo Metropolitan Police investigating arms smuggling/crimes. He works with an informant know as an S, or spy. Shiiba loses his S and has to cultivate a new one. Munechika would make a great S, only Shiiba doesn't like him! But that aversion covers up a secret attraction.
For the first in a series, this was very well done. The plot has a lot of detail, and the ongoing backdrop of a police investigation provides a good atmosphere for a tense romance. Shiiba is a well developed character with a enough back story to make him believable. Readers can easily identify and sympathize with his vulnerabilities. Munechika is kept deliberately mysterious to help build suspense around his actions concerning Shiiba, and it works beautifully. The only problem I found was that the author was a little too detailed about the workings of the police and government bodies associated with crime investigation. I found the bureau relationships and conflicting names confusing at times. I really could've used a hierarchy diagram! Fortunately, a reader can skim these parts since they aren't critical to understanding Shiiba's job, or his purpose. The story has a lot of action, and twists. Also, unlike Ai No Kusabi's first volume, this includes some graphic sexual situations, though they don't occur until more than halfway through the book. I can't wait for VII, but it's nice to not be left hanging waiting for the relationship to begin. Another bonus is the illustrations sprinkled throughout the novel, some of which are quite steamy. They give the reader a little something more than you find in a traditional novel.
My only real issue with this, and all yaoi novels, is the price. S looks like it will be at least 4 volumes, possibly 5. All of these together would equal about one mass market paperback, given their page counts. So, the price is pretty steep considering a mass market is less than $10, and 4 volumes of a yaoi novel comes to nearly $36. However, I realize that the market for yaoi novels isn't large and the cost of translating these from Japanese can be high. In the end, I think the story is worth the cost especially if you can get the books with Amazon's four for three promotion. Overall, I highly recommend S. At first, this story was a little hard to get into. In the beginning there is much discussion about how the police system works that Shiiba Masaki is involved with. It goes on for quite awhile and I put the book down 2-3 times until I got into the story. I am guessing that this is because this is the first volume of the series. At the end I was wishing I had a hold of the second volume. This book had the best translation that I read so far. So far the plot is good and I like both of the main characters. Shiba is a detective in the fifth anti-organized crime division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, a.k.a. "Anti-Gang 5" specializing in handgun seizures. Shiba's secret weapon is "S" ("spy"), an informant who plays a key role in Shiba's information gathering. Shiba is training an informant who has been officially accepted into Shinjuku's Matsukura Group within the Budoha crime syndicate. One day, Shiba awakens to an anonymous phone call - "Watch out for your S!" Rerations < S Volume 1 (Yaoi Novel) (v. 1) >
