Great Cover) Well, actually, I give this one a 3.5 rate, but unfortunately that option isn't available, haha. Due to much hype from certain people here, a friend I know, and by the cover art, I guess I was expecting too much? Either way, I didn't enjoy this book as much as I would have liked to. The art was pretty cute (I love how they did the eyes!), but the story seemed way too rushed for me. The smex scene wasn't much to see (it was the first time I swiftly went through one just to finish faster). Though am I one of the few who actually liked the bad guy even though he did enough to make you hate him deeply (as a character)? On the 2nd story, it was decent. Yay for vampies~! Would have loved to see this one continued! The 3rd story was very different! It was awesome how it ended<3 Though I didn't like how either character was drawn.. it was pretty low in my opinion. The last story I hate because it's only a few pages long before it leaves you hanging! I want to know what happens here too. All in all, I think this book is worth getting if you get it half-off or something. If not, then borrow it from a friend and see if you like it before committing to buy. First I have to say that I like the classical Japanese yaoi manga's, but I also jump at any possibility to read a yaoi in a fresh setting. Like this one. The book consists of three stories. The story 'Stallion' is set in the Wild West. Stallion (native american) and Josey (cowboy) both have enough reason to hate and want to kill Bill (no pun intended) (also cowboy), as they were both raped by him. But as they begin hunting Bill together they realize that there are more important things in life than revenge. I liked the story, even though the revenge thing is not new, but the drawings again are beautiful. I really like everything by KOSEN. The second shorter story 'Eien' is about a vampire and a vampire hunter. The vampire hunter Ashen is hunting a vampire who has killed his father. Will he get his revenge and for what price? Again the revenge theme, but this time with a twist. Even though this is an older work by KOSEN, the drawings are already very good. And the third story 'Cancellation of Darkness' is about a young men who is haunted by a demon. Kai is haunted by a demon since he was a little boy. Bradley, an expert in everything paranormal, wants to help him get rid of the demon and he succeeds, or does he? The drawings by Amelia Woo still seem strange to me at first, but as this is the second story by her I've read, I begin to like her style. An overall enjoyable read with very good drawings. While it would have been nice to devote a little more time to developing this story, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a Native I thought the treatment of the Native characters was good although sort of in the 'noble savage' vein. The artwork is very fanciful and stylized with wide eyed innocents with perfect bodies. YUM! well, i have to say that it is not one of the best, but for an newer mangaka, Kosen is really good. the art is very screentone friendly ^^ i liked it very much for an artist that is not Japanese. All right, the cover is beautiful. The story is. . . bland. The characters lack depth and the side stories are, eh. I mean, after reading the reviews I though I had a winner, I was disappointed. The art is so so and the story is lacking. Neither aspect is good enough to compensate for the other's lack. You'd be better off with another series. The Native American Stallion is out for revenge on the cowboy who ruined his life, but he has competition from Josey, another one of cowboy Bill's victims. Enemies at first, they unite to fight against their common adversary. They find they share a bond due to the horrible thing Bill did to both of them. Stallion and Josey are both damaged, both suffering. They find comfort in each other, and hopefully, satisfaction against their enemy Bill. If a main story by KOSEN wasn't already enough, readers also will enjoy a yaoi vampire tale by the talented duo. Sagan's father was killed by a vampire whose love was not reciprocated. Now the vampire sees Sagan as a new way for his love to be requited, but Sagan just wants him dead. (Title Story 3 stars, Bonus story 5 stars) (Angst filled and engrossing Yaoi.) A story of growing love between a young man and his father's henchman. Akira sells his body to protect his younger brother from harm. In the process he comes to love the man who used him. His father apparently had abandoned him, his little brother and his mother. It is later revealed that he had been ordered by Akira's mother to stay away. He supported them all that time though and never contacted his sons. Only after their mother died did he have the boys come to his mansion. There Akira meets Hyougami, in the employ of Akira's father and it is then, that he gets used by the man. Hyougami did not count on falling for Akira, but he did find the proud young man very attractive. Akira kept his heart pure from the darkness around him and persevered, eventually finding out that his father had really cared for him. A manga of powerful images and writing. I loved the cover illustration. The sexual scenes are intense and Akira suffers, but ultimately he does prove that a pure heart will always triumph. Endless Rain title story deals, in essence, one man's revenge. He blackmails the company's president's son in to sleeping with him. Its not the usual sort of blackmail where someone did something "wrong " and the other person knows it. This blackmail involves how the younger brother, who is blind, is treated (going to a school for music), and a hospital being closed and the employees being fired, amongst other things. The ending to the story is contrived and it seems the author wanted a feel good ending. Though how one can fall in love with your blackmailer is beyond me. I give this 3 stars, Five stars goes to the bonus story. It was cute. There were several graphic non-explicit scenes. Endless Rain is one engrossing read. There is an angst filled plot here with depth. The characters may not be that likable but they are interesting. You either like or dislike Hyougami, the complex, cold and forceful seme, with his secret agenda. As for Akira, he could come across frustrating at times but he is your typical innocent uke with a soft heart. The most likable characters are Nao, Akira's little brother, and his assigned faithful caretaker (even if this is a minor role). And I enjoy the brothers' close relationship which is sweet and touching. But the sudden change in atmosphere towards the wrap-up of the story is not convincing. I like the somewhat dark and unhappy tone of the story and it would have been better if this is kept till the end. However, it is as if the mangaka suddenly decides she has gone too far in her bleak treatment of her characters and tries to rectify it with a "nice" ending. The results are inconsistencies in the characters (especially the ruthless father and Hyougami), and the plot which becomes somewhat a little disjointed. Maybe this is just me. That said, Endless Rain is absorbing, fast paced and after a lot of lighter, sweet and romantic stuff, this angst filled and more complex Yaoi is a good change. Like the artwork and metaphor title too. The short story on 2 very close childhood friends, in which one suffers from a heart ailment, is romantic and very sweet and both uke and seme here are complete opposites of the ones in Endless Rain. A fine addition to my collection. Akira lived a life of happiness with his gentle mother and little brother despite the fact his mother was the mistress of the committee head of the Kasuga Foundation. When his mother dies unexpectedly, he and his brother are moved to the headquarters of the Kasuga Foundation and put under the mercy of Hyogami, his father's proxy. Akira is desperate to protect his brother from the scandalous nature of their births no matter the cost. But, Hyogami's demand is Akira himself! (Torrid Left Me Tepid) (Torrid by Morgan Hawke) (WOW!!!!!!!!) A straight dance instructor is asked to play the part of a stripper at a bachelorette party. While shopping for his "costume", he meets a sexy and mysterious man who flirts with him. Though the dance instructor has never been attracted to men before, he can't help being intrigued by the sexy stranger, and they begin a sweet and steamy affair. This one is very cute and very sexy. "But I'm not gay!" is one of my favorite M/M themes (besides the "best friends" theme), so I really enjoyed this one. It's fun and it doesn't take itself too seriously. Just hot men, spicy sex, a budding relationship, and a whole lot of fun. I had very high hopes for this story, but I was greatly dissapointed. First of all the book is the size of your palm you can fit in your back pocket. The story was pretty fresh, but had many gaps. It felt not like an actual book, but something I'd find in fictionpress six chapters of flat storyline and one dimensional characters. There was no growth within the plot. I was dissapointed and felt as though I'd been ripped off. No one should buy this book for less than five dollars any higher and you're getting ripped. I'm all for M/M romances, but perhaps this book's description was misleading. This is a tiny (literally) fictionalized manga novel with one main character (the dance guy) mostly clueless about everything, and the other character (the overbearing guy) totally on fast forward, need-to-mate mode for the main guy. Ms. Hawke has the ability to tell a story, but this was just too absurd for me. I did finish reading it (all 100+ pages) but it definitely is not a keeper. Trey is a dance instructor. He is an handsome guy, not very physically impressive but with a nice body. Long blond hair, lean body and cute spectacles. He is the right choice as stripper for a bachelorette party. Doesn't matter he has never do that before, he knows how to dance and it's enough. He only needs a g-string and all is perfect. At the sexy shop he meets Kenshin, a martial arts teacher. Trey is not gay, but this guy is hot and he has no intention to going in that shop again, so a bit of flirting doesn't harm nobody. But Kenshin is not a man you can dump, and when he meets again Trey accidentally at the bachelorette party, in no way he let go the guy again. A classical yaoi situation, even if Trey is not a helpless boy who needs someone who takes care of him. He is an independ guy who happens to be attract to a guy for the first time in his life. And this particularly guy is not used to be denied. Kenshin is very good in seducing Trey both with gentleness than with strong hands; he has no problem to use is undoubtely stronger body to win the resistance of this beautiful boy and conquers all of him, heart and body. The seduction's scene is very arousing and very explicit. But even if Kenshin is a little bit forceful, you have also the knowledge that Trey is consenting and enjoys every moment of it. The story is rather short and the plot simple and smooth, but still the book is very enjoyable. This book was extremely hot!!!!!!!The characters were obviously bisexual and it was a real turn on to read a book where a heterosexual male would consider a sexual relationship with another male. Other than the fact that the book was too short, I loved it!!! A dance instructor playing stripper for a party flirts with the only other male there - and discovers what happens when you play with fire.
