(Carcassone)
(Fantastic game for all ages!)
(Amazing game for everyone!)
(Great fun!) An unusual board game unlike any other I've played. Perfect for two players. A bit of strategy and luck. Every game is different, never the same game twice. Easy to learn. Can be played in less than an hour. I recommend the River Expansion version to make it more interesting. Great game. My family has played it for hours and it never gets old. It's a new game every time. Carcassonne is a fantastic board game that I've introduced to many different groups of people, and they all seem to easily understand and embrace the game, asking me when I'll bring it back to the table. It is very simple to learn, but the strategy of how to best place your tiles and use your wooden figures will keep you coming back for more. Hopefully my description will give you an idea of what the game is all about.
Carcassonne is a 2-5 player game where you expand the city of Carcassonne by placing tiles and claiming various city "features" (cities, roads, cloisters, and farms) on these tiles using little wooden figures which represent your "followers". By claiming these features, building them further, and finally completing these features, you score points, and the player with the most points wins.
The game is really much more confusing on text. The rulebook was a little intimidating at first, but once I tried playing a test game with myself, I discovered how simple and exciting the game really was, and I was eager to share the experience with my friends. When I teach the game using the tiles as examples, my friends pick it up right away. The game experience as a whole mixes the excitement of competing against your friends with the fun of solving a puzzle, and playing with the little wooden figures adds that special touch that makes a game memorable.
To sum up the strategy involved: A nice person will leave the other players alone so he can build features on his own while they build theirs; but the clever player (aka, the one who usually wins), will not only build his own features, but build into the features of his opponents, gaining even more points while denying his opponents the advantage. The game is very versatile in that you can just have a free-for-all with one another; you can form teams, or you can even form makeshift alliances to gang up against the player who is winning. It's up to you and your opponents to decide which strategy is best.
Pros -Versatile game that is easy and quick to explain after browsing the rulebook -Easy to set up (you literally set it up by playing the game, other than handing out figures, shuffling the tiles, and placing the starting tile) -Plays relatively quick - my games usually last about 30-45 minutes -Good introductory game for people who aren't sure if they will enjoy strategy games -Plays with two to five players, and is equally fun with the minimum or maximum -Durable wooden figures and tiles (Don't let your baby suck on them, and they'll last for many years) -Portable (doesn't take up too much space, and it's easy to fit expansions (sold separately) inside the original box -IT'S FUN
Cons - If you're looking for a deep, engrossing game to play with friends who are already experienced with strategy games, I would look elsewhere. This is more of a fun, light strategy game for everyone to play. - Not for very small children, mostly because of the little wooden figures
You can't go wrong with this purchase if you're looking for a fun game to enjoy with everybody and anybody. It gave me an excuse to stop playing on the computer all the time, and instead sit down with friends and family and chat, while at the same time plotting my ultimate victory. Buy it!
P.S. If you find that you enjoy this game and want to change up the game from time to time, purchase an expansion, each of which costs about half the price of the base Carcassonne game. I would start with Inns and Cathedrals, and then move on to Traders and Builders (both are available on Amazon too). The two add great new strategies to the game and I love them both, and at the same time they're easy to learn and incorporate with the base game. I wasn't extremely impressed with the other expansions, but you can read the reviews on their respective web pages and decide for yourself if they're right for you and your group. This game is great! There is not as much trading and "marketplace" type interactions in this game vs Settlers of Catan but it more than makes up for it with the variety of strategies that can be employed. I find this game especially fun with a close group of friends for a game night. It's not much of an icebreaker type game though since it is a little long (typical game lasts ~1 hr for 4 people). Highly recommended. This game is great. We have only played with two players but we have a blast with it. We have started playing with holding 2 tiles in your hand to give it a bit more strategy a bit more luck. Great so far. Highly recommended for gamers and puzzle lovers. The Carcassonne is a clever tile-laying game. The southern French city of Carcassonne is famous for its unique roman and medieval fortifications. The players develop the area around Carcassonne and deploy their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields. The skill of the players to develop the area will determine who is victorious. The game is for ages 8 and up and 2 to 5 players. Rerations < Carcassonne >

(So far, so good.)
(Mortimer the Man)
(Great fun)
(Great Toy) This is a wonderful versatile toy. I bought "Mortimer" for my six-month old grandaughter, and it's one of her favorite toys. She is constantly discovering new ways to play with him, but slapping him around when he dangles over her, with his legs flying in all directions always evokes laughter; his plastic ears are not to be ignored for chewing when she holds him, and so is his "ring tail." This is a toy that brings joy. What more could you ask for? My son is only 2 1/2 mo. old and can't grasp things yet, but he seems to like his moose. He looks at it a lot and likes how soft it's nose is when we play 'kisses'. We have a friend who's 4 1/2 mo. and he loves his, and that's what sold me. My baby was born October 28, 2008. Simple review, he was his best friend for the first 7 months of his life! He still travels with us and we use that white clip to attach him to the stroller or car seat now that he throws things. If you're a mother or father and contemplating something for your newborn, buy Mortimer. My daughter is 10 months old and loves this toy. We do a little peek a boo where he sneaks out under my leg. She comes searching for him and the squeaks at her. She's laughing the whole time.
She also likes the crackling sounds his feet make. I can't convince her to use the ears to chew on. The hook is great for attaching this toy to strollers and they don't get lost as easy. My grandaughter is now 6 months old&this is her favorite toy. She has already been fascinated by it&playing with it for at least a couple of months. The variety of parts on the toy make it a best value for your money. Mortimer the Moose comes complete with multiple textures and sounds to keep baby entertained. Also features teether antlers! Comes with a Lamaze link to take wherever you go. Mortimer the Moose will keep baby amused for hours with his many colors, textures, and sounds. His antlers are teethers, his feet are colorfully patterned and make a variety of sounds, and he chimes when you pick him up. From birth on up, Mortimer is a cute toy that will hold your baby's attention.Cuddly, Stimulating Fun Even for the Youngest Baby The Lamaze Mortimer the Moose is part teddy bear--his body is soft and cuddly--and part teether--his antlers are a soft, sturdy rubber that's perfect for chewing. His tail is made of two rubber rings, ideal for baby hands to hang onto. His hooves are multicolored and festively patterned, which attracts baby's eyes. When your little one grabs the bright colors, the sounds the hooves make will produce even more delighted giggles! Morti's Good to Go The Lamaze link on his back makes it easy to take baby's favorite moose along, and you can hang the toy over a crib, car seat, or play mat. Your baby can enjoy the chimes, squeaks, rattles, and crunches anywhere you go. This well-built moose will stand up to the most enthusiastic play. Mortimer measures 11.5 x 5.3 x 2.8 (LxHxW) inches and comes with a 90-day limited warranty. Park Tool(2008-06-17)
Usually ships in 24 hours customer 's review (Best book I've found for maintaning your bike.)
(comprehensive repair guide)
(Possibly the most useful tool you can buy.)
(Very good: well produced, well written)
(The "must-have" reference for bicycle repair gets better...) I've found this book to have all the illustrations I need to properly maintain my bike. The book most frequently recommended on this site, The Bicycling Guide to Complete Bicycle Maintenance and Repair: For Road and Mountain Bikes(Expanded and Revised 5th Edition) I've found to be great on theory but horrible for practical applications.
This book, the Big Blue Book, on the other hand has tons of practical applications. I feel its the perfect book for people who want to spend more time fixing their bikes and less time discussing what angle a fork or seatpost should be at.
One picture that stands out is taking apart the rear hub, how many different types of fittings you can expect to find. It's very straight forward and something a beginner mechanic definitely needs, and a good reference for anyone of any skill. Regular maintenance is a must for anybody who regularly rides a bicycle. There are two ways to maintain your bike; either pay somebody else to do it, or do it yourself. Having spent a great deal of money over the years paying bike shops to do tune ups and replace components, and having also had these very same professionals (at multiple shops) completely botch relatively simple operations, I have come to prefer the latter. To this end, a good bicycle repair manual is mandatory.
Based on the positive recommendations of several discussion boards and previous reviewers, I bought this particular manual. It offers a thorough set of instructions by a preeminent mechanic covering virtually every repair and maintenance operation you can expect to perform on your bicycle. Each major component of the bicycle has a chapter devoted to it. Illustrations are copious and in color, with clear notations throughout. It is actually a real treat to thumb through the chapters and soak up the knowledge contained therein, and though I am no expert, my impression is that the author has effectively transmitted his massive expertise into the written medium.
I have a few other bike repair manuals including fine editions from Zinn and Langley. I find the Park Repair Book superior in that it offers more logical steps and better illustrations. Seems to work for me. One improvement would be a larger format with a spiral binding that would lay flat... maybe the 3rd edition. That said, if you need one bike repair book, get this one.
FWIW... On several occasions in the past I have contacted Park Tool and found their service to be exceptional. Their tools cost a little more but are well designed and built to last. Just to echo the other comments, BBB-2 is a very good repair manual for the intermediate home bicycle enthusiast. It is the best produced of any bike manual I've seen, with excellent, clear photos and layout. It does emphasize Park tools in every possible context, but it is understood that Park tools are pretty much the best.
At 245 pages, it covers every topic relevant to a home repair. You won't learn how to build a wheel, but you will learn how to true a wheel.
The only downside is that the book is so nice, I'd hate to get grease on it. This new Park Tool Big Blue Book of Repair - 2nd Edition (also known as BBB-2 to differentiate it from the first edition) is a superb improvement over the original edition, Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair, which was considered by many to be THE "must-have" reference for bicycle repair by many enthusiasts, cyclists and bike shop owners.
This is a good, solid repair manual for almost any bike, be it the single-speed classic cruiser, mountain bike, BMX or road bike. At 246 pages, this new edition has hundreds of photos that will prove to be quite helpful when doing bike maintenance. Like the previous edition, it was written by Calvin Jones, whose years of experience as the Park Tool Director of Education shows.
There is a definite emphasis on tool selection (don't forget that it comes from Park Tool), but such topics as general bike upkeep, emergency repairs, on-the-road fixes and even bike cleaning tips are well covered. There's a thorough table of contents that will appeal to novice, experienced enthusiast and shop mechanic alike.
The various sections cover a wide range of topics. For example, the chapter on pedals covers everything from removal and installation to bearing service to servicing Shimano pedals. There are plenty of helpful photos in each chapter to help illustrate the repair topics. The four appendices in the back of this edition cover such topics as a tool list, glossary, the recommended torque for bike components and a bike map.
The Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair is used as the official student textbook in a unique program for learning bicycle maintenance and repair known as the Park Tool School. Check with your local bicycle dealer to see if one of these hands-on programs is coming to your area. If so, getting this new edition will give you a jump on the curriculum covered.
Another excellent manual worth considering is The Bicycling Guide to Complete Bicycle Maintenance and Repair: For Road and Mountain Bikes, a more basic, well-written reference that is also excellent for teaching youngsters how to perform their own bike repairs.
Even if you just want to get BBB-2 as your sole bike repair manual, it's a great 5-star reference. Highly recommended. Park BBB-2 Big Blue Book of Bike Repair- 2nd Edition-2008 Written by Park Tool Director of Education Calvin Jones with repair tips garnered from the author's 30 years as an educator and mechanic. Big Blue just got bigger and better! Freshly updated to include new topics, latest technology, techniques and equipment. Packed with hundreds of photos and hundreds of procedures. From tire repair and derailleur adjustment to wheel truing and bottom bracket replacement. Special topics such as tool selection, bike cleaning, and on-the-trail repairs are also covered, and an appendix at the back of the book provides valuable reference materials the BBB-2 provides both the novice and veteran mechanic the information needed to perform nearly any repair from trailside repairs to complete overhauls. The Big Blue Book is the perfect reference guide and step-by-step repair manual for nearly any bike, including road, mountain, bmx, and single-speed. We wrote the book on bicycle repair. (Good, classic fun!)
(Uno card game)
(UNO is a game for all ages!) I've been playing Uno since the early 1980's and I've yet to not have fun playing this game. The game is simple enough for a young child to learn, and losing is just as fun as winning.
Game play is usually frenetic, and calling "uno," whether you have your last card in hand or calling out one who has forgotten to do so, is one of the best calls in any game hands down.
A must for everyone. I got Uno to play with my mom. I had forgotten how much fun it was! We use modified rules to make it more interesting. If you don't love Uno, you don't love fun. I keep a deck around for moments of boredom. It's always good to kill some time and it's always enjoyable. Fun, laughs and competition... Good stuff! :) We enjoy playing UNO very much. We are on the hunt to find a UNO deck that is just like the ORIGINAL deck. The original deck has the words on the cards spelled out, like: SKIP, REVERSE, DRAW 2, etc., instead of the symbols for the words. We thought we had finally found some through the ad we found on Amazon which said, THE ORIGINAL set. When we got the decks, they were just like the ones we already have and not the original ones UNO looked like with the words. So, if there is anyone out there that knows where we can find the ORIGINAL cards, please let me know. I know there are several newer versions of this game, but the old standby is just as much fun as it ever was. Even a game between two people -- I play with my 8-year-old grandson -- is a lot of fun, and it's quality time well-spent with my loved one. America's No.1 brand of family game. See why this color coded card game is such a popular brand of family game. Be the first player or team to score 500 points. (Baby loves this!)
(Perfect Toy)
(This is awesome!) I love this thing! I clip i to the bouncer to change up from the regular toy bar, and to the stroller to keep entertainment while shopping. Baby loves it, its easy to attach. Does not fit the convertible car seat, but that was a gamble in the first place. Great for the money! This item is wonderful. My poor son was so bored and frustrated when we would go out. I thought I should try a car seat toy (which we never had for our older daughter). He was barely 3 months when we got it and he has loved it since day one (now 4 months). At first he could just look and reach which still kept him occupied. Now he plays with the ball (most)&butterfly by batting at them and giggles when the mirror moves back and forth. He has also just started to grab the ball, watch the pinwheel and stare at the sun prism.
This makes going out to eat and car rides blissful. It also is fun for me to have something I can play with him on the road without carrying around a bunch of loose toys. My 8 month old absolutely loves this toy. He seems content to play with it for hours on long car rides. It is easy to put on and take off both our different car seats, so that makes it really quick and easy for us to utilize. My son loves this toy. It fits on his swing, bouncy, car seat, and high chair. He enjoys the crinkle butterfly the most. This was so worth the money. Keeps him entertained long enough for me to clean the house. He can sometimes pull the hanging toys off, but he is pretty strong and it's no big deal, I just put them back on when he is done soaking them! I just love this arch. It's so much nicer than any of my fellow new mom's stroller toys. It clips on to almost any type of rail. I also use it for my Bjorn bouncer as it doesn't come with an activity bar. The joints on it are fantastic as it can move back and forth and up and down easily. The toys are interesting for my 4 month old... he loves reach for the fan pully and is entranced with the sun. It folds in on itself for easy storage. Can't recommend this enough :-) The sunny stroll arch is a developmental fun for baby on the stroll. It easily attaches to strollers and baby carriers. This has two stage developments. It has a transparent sun prism and flexible arch with angle adjustment. This has a rattling butterfly ball with crinkly texture. (magnetic dress up toy)
(princess dress up doll) I got this for my two year old. She loves it. I do too. It's durable, compact, and a great toy teaching matching and helping with dexterity. Bought for my 2 1/2 yr granddaughter. Her mother and I were more interested in it than she was. Mandy loves to change clothes on herself and her teddy bear but I'm thinking she's too young for this concept. The items are just adorable, lots of accessories with each outfit and all very sturdy. The box is cute, too, but needs a permanent lid. I'll save it for next visit or play with it myself! I got the princess and the ballerina and they're both great quality toys. My 4 year old daughter loves to play dress-up and this set is, by far, the sturdiest I've found. She has lots of fun with this. I thought the girls (8.6 and 4) would like playing with these. They didn't. Good durable toy, but got bored with it quickly. This is a sturdy and well made toy. My daughter is 3 tho, and she doesn't seem very interested in it yet. maybe she is too young yet, but it's a very well made toy and has lots of outfits for the princess. I'm keeping it for a while and when she is a little older, hopefully she'll play with it more. Our entertaining, magnetic activities feature the innovative combination of magnets and wood, are incredibly low-priced, and are designed to bring endless hours of fun! customer 's review (Rubik's Cube review)
(Key to the Universe?)
(cheap entertainment for kids&adults)
(Fun toy for kids)
(good price for a well built cube) I bought this as a gift for someone and they loved it! It's fun, refreshing, and a surprise gift. It still hasn't been mastered, but we're working on it. I would recommend this item. When I was younger my father would often look at my math homework and say "I didn't know you knew Chinese, are you going to unlock the secrets of the universe with that knowledge?" He was kidding of course but for those who are visual learners and are at any stage of math, playing with a rubik's cube is both fun and very intriguing. Don't get fed up trying to solve it by yourself, look up a tutorial on "Youtube." Then, once you get the beginner's method, try another method, eventually you'll be noticing patterns and maybe someday you'll become one of the over 100 people in America that can solve it in under 1 minute (my best time is 40.11 seconds). [On a side note, Rubik's cubes are not the best for speed. Rubik's is just a name brand of these types of toys, if you want cubes that are speedy, get a DIY (do it yourself) cube. With those you can adjust the tension and it will be quite easier to move. I was lucky when I bought mine on here, the person didn't mention that it was actually a "Diansheng" cube (also a DIY cube) and not a rubik's cube, and at the time I didn't know any better. Lucky me.] my daughter begged me to buy it for her and it keeps her and my husband entertained I was concerned when reading others' reviews about the product quality, but got it anyway since it's on sale. For less than 7 bucks, I didn't expect high quality. It turns out to be quite nice. It turns smoothly just as I remembered when I was a kid. We had it for over a month now. My son plays it everyday (his class has a morning contest for Rubik's Cube every morning) and it has been holding up well. None of us can do speed cubing, so I don't know if it will survive long under heavy using. But it's definitely more than enough for kids play. This is well built rubik's cube, so well built that I couldn't open it up to put some petroleum jelly in it. It is a bit stiff out of the box. Doesn't have any lubrication but moves fairly easily. Rubik's Cube® is the incredibly addictive, multi-dimensional challenge that has fascinated puzzle fans around the world since 1980. This completely redesigned gift package is a sure-fire, must-have collectable. As a special added bonus, a Free Rubik's Cube stand is included. The date is 1974. The place is Budapest, Hungary. Erno Rubik, an admirer of geometry and 3-D forms creates the world's most perfect -- and addictive -- puzzle. More than three decades later the Rubik's cube is still one of the best selling brainteasers. Whether it was full size or the smaller keychain version almost every child had this puzzle by in 1980 when it found worldwide success. Elementary school kids were seen solving it with their feet on "That's Incredible!", conspiracy theorists believed it was an Eastern bloc tactic to distract American youth from getting an education, and Cubaholics Anonymous was formally established to help cure the compulsive need to solve it. | | Each side is just over 2", while each sticker is about½" square. | For all of the hullabaloo, the Rubik’s Cube actually has a pretty straightforward premise. The faces of the cube are covered by nine stickers in six solid colors (one for each 2.25" side); when the puzzle is solved, each face is one solid color. Then you realize as you turn the rows and columns and see all the colors flash by that there are 43 quintillion possible pattern combinations (that’s 43 million millions), but just one right one. Maybe Cubaholics Anonymous wasn’t such a bad idea after all….This Rubik’s Cube has reflective red, white, blue, yellow, green, and orange colored stickers with an official twenty-fifth anniversary sticker in the center white square. The cube is packaged in a clear hexagon box and includes a black display stand. There is also a solutions hint and game suggestion book, just in case. Rerations < Rubik's Cube >

These are all case metal and really well made. If you're familiar with Hot Wheels, then you know. There are no plastic parts. I got two sets and ever car gets played with all the time. I hear you have to be careful if the tires come off, that kids don't stick them in their nose... otherwise, they are great. We got this so our two year old would have a selection of cars to go with the track we got him. He's not very picky about what the cars look like so the random selection in this pack worked fine for him. Our pack was about half conventional classic cars and half futuristic/imaginative cars. Works well with the track. The quality is great and it is an awesome gift to give to the little ones. My son loves cars and loved the product. One of the cars broke after the first hour of play (not the sender's fault). Too bad the sender isn't more on-the-ball with the mailing of the product! It took over 3 weeks to receive. That's a lot, even for Alaska. If you can find some one else who ships promptly, buy from them!
I ordered these Hot Wheels for my grandson. They are one of his favorite toys because he can take them with him wherever he goes Hot Wheels 10-Car Gift Packs deliver ten of the coolest 1:64 scale die-cast vehicles with unifying themes in one package. Each pack is an instant collection! Some vehicles not for use with some Hot Wheels sets. Rerations < Hot Wheels 10 Car Pack - Styles May Vary >

(Great Bike Knee&Elbow Pads) Unless you are an adult the size and weight of an average 10 year old girl, don't buy these for yourself. Luckily, I have a kid who can use them since they were too small for me. However, they are well constructed and she seems very comfortable wearing them for several hours at a time. They haven't been tested in an actual scootering fall yet, but by looking at them I am fairly certain they can take quite a hit and keep elbows and kneecaps from serious impact damage. At least I hope so. Also they are very cool to look at being deep black with orange buttons. Purchased for my grandson to protect those knees and elbows when he's on his skateboard. They've done the job so far. Nice product. Very adjustable, able to my 6 year old daughter and me. Just what said it would be. They fit both my small 8 year-old and 5 year-old grandkids nicely. They seemed to be well-padded and fit for the job of pprotecting their skinny joints. Price was right. They both liked the looks, and stood about posturing their superpowers. This was a great purchase. My 9 year old son just got his first BMX type bike and kept falling. These pads fit nice and tight, but have plenty of room to adjust and grow with him. The gel padding has protected him through many more falls. Great price too! Mongoose BMX Gel Knee&Elbow Pads Extreme Gear Rerations < Mongoose BMX Bike Gel Knee and Elbow Pads >
