(Best Friend with Detail)
(Woody&Buzz) Cute, but not worth close to the price! It's pretty small and doesn't do anything or have anything to make it worth so much, particularly in comparison to the same Buzz toy that's almost half the price. My son will absolutely love it, but it should have been a lot less expensive. I bought this for my 1 1/2 year old grandson for Christmas and he has not been without his "Woody Doll" since. The details are great and little guys do notice, when he received his Woody he immediately checked his foot for the Andy message, but didn't stop there he looked at his foot to see if he had been labled also. I was thrilled with the quality and the look of Woody&Buzz. They were exactly what I was looking for for my 2 yr. old grandson. They are soft and cuddly, yet still have all the features I was looking for in the characters. I know he will love them this Christmas! Aw, shucks! As the leader of the toys, Cowboy Woody maintains law and order in Andy's Room. From Toy Story and Beyond Lost Episodes - Adventures in Andy's Room comes this cute Woody Doll.Stands 12 inches tall. (Impressively advanced, tiny Robot with a lot of replay-ability)
(A Fragile Expensive Robot Toy)
(I-sobot at your service)
(A hobbyist's view) Mine arrived with one weak servo out of 17, that prevents it from preforming some of it's moves. I spoke to Tomy, Inc. about it and they are very nice and helpful. They said they would pay both ways for shipping and have it back to me in a month. So far, I've decided to just keep it.
The battery system is awful. It has 3, 1.2v, 750ma rated, eneloop AAA batteries in series and a separate charger. The batteries last only about 20 minutes and then have to be removed and placed in the charger unit for about 4 hours. If instead it had 3 AAA 3.6v lithium ion rechargeable batteries, in parallel, with a charging port, it would have 2-3 times the run time and would be a snap to recharge.
As far as the robot goes, it's a lot of fun, but, requires a lot of care and maintenance. I would say it's designed for ages 12 and up. For younger kids, say 8 years and up, the parents will have to be involved. Right to the details first...
^++ The Pros ++^ + Excellent price to functionality ratio. It walks, it talks and it can balance on 1 leg...It can even do a somersault (to name just a few things)...All for about the price of a Robosapien V2. But in terms of robotics ability the V2 is a $0.99 Store cheapy in comparison. + Comes packaged with 3xAAA Eneloop batteries and a battery charger. This is an excellent addition. If you're not familiar with Eneloops brand batteries, in a nutshell they have an outstandingly low self-discharge rate while in storage. So no worries if the Robot goes off to storage for a bit, the batteries will still be decently charged when I-Sobot makes a re-appearance + It walks. Not some gimmicky pseudo walking, I-Sobot actually stands on 2 feet and takes human-like steps. + It can get back to a standing position, using 1 of 2 sequences based on whether it's on its back or belly. + It can balance on 1 leg and do kicks (front kicks, like kicking a soccer ball, and side-kicks like doing martial arts). + 4 Modes of operation: +++ Remote Control Mode: Essentailly a real-time mode almost like a video game, where your inputs have almost immediate results. +++ Special Action Mode: Enter in special key sequences and I-Sobot does pre-defined actions, such as doing a re-enactment of the "go ahead, make my day" from Dirty Harry. +++ Program Mode: Enter in multiple sequences from the other modes and save them to be played in order +++ Voice Command Mode: I-Sobot reacts accordingly to certain voice queues. + I-Sobot was conceptualized and made in Japan. Anyone familiar with the Hobby of Humanoid Robotics knows that Japan is essentially the forerunner of the hobby, not to mention the Japanese following for it (compared to any other country, especially America) is far higher. This makes the I-Sobot both an impressive feat of engineering and durable/reliable. + Excellent re-playability. Take the Tickle-Me Elmo TMX as an example. I bought one for my young son and only after a couple of minutes of watching it do the same things over and over, he lost interest and Elmo has been collecting dust ever since. The I-Sobot, on the other hand, has kept him near mesmerized for a couple of weeks and even now that's its been months later, I-Sobot still makes near daily appearances to entertain him.
^-- The Cons --^ - The I-Sobot DEVOURS battery power! If the robot is going to be used on a regular basis, I'd highly recommend buying at least 2 more sets (6 more AAA size) of batteries. The robot has 17 servos, so it's to be expected and par for the course to power this little marvel. - No volume adjustment. The speech and sound F/X is quite loud and unfortunately there's no volume adjustment. - Effective on flat, even surfaces only (like Hardwood Floors). It'll work on carpet and such, but not reliably.
Final Words Especially now that the I-Sobot can be had for under 200 hundred dollars (with a little shopping around, WELL under 200), it's a great time to pickup one of these truly bi-pedal humanoid robots. You'll find yourself coming back to it again and again, not to mention anyone you show it to is impressed at seeing something about the size of a chunky action figure walking, talking, kicking and doing air guitar!
If you've ever had a fascination with robots, the I-Sobot is the real deal. I-Sobot is a fragile toy robot. It has many warnings about the many ways you can break it.
It is quite an entertaining little bot when YOU are controlling it. But if you put down the remote control and watch, I-Sobot just sits there, yawns a bit and then "falls asleep." For EVERY action that you want it to perform, YOU need to hit buttons or joy sticks on its remote. There are hundreds of key combinations, none of which are easy to remember. (I think there was one called A.A.A that did something fun.)
It is missing some of the key features that most robots have these days. It has no mode that will let it run on its own. It cannot sense the edge of a table and of course will break if it falls. It cannot sense something in front of it. It only has sensors that keep it from falling over, although with feet nearly as long as it's legs are tall, It does not need sensors that much. It has a small vocabulary of words it understands and it does pretty well with that if in a quiet room. It's own voice is not very loud which is a good thing as it is quite chatty. There is a program mode which is a bother to use.
If you are looking for a robot toy with a bit more "robotics" in it, the Robosapian and other Wowee robot toys are a much better bet. If you want to teach your older child (12+) about real robotics the Vex kit is the way to go.
If you are looking for something to ENTERTAIN a 8-13 year old that is VERY careful with toys or an adult that needs another bit of technology on his desk, this would be just the thing.
PS. You've got to love that first "review." It was probably written by the I-Sobot marketing team.) I like the robot enough that I bought another. I consider the toy to be potentially educational because it can be programmed to do a series of steps. I can see it is versitile and fun. With practice it is fairly easy to run the little guy around and pick up light items.
If I have any issues with the toy, it is that I'd like more support for programming it. Mainly to allow making 'skits' and shows something like what comes with the i-sobot. Tomy should make a PC or Mac based program to keep and aid making more complicated programs to load into the robot.
Like every product, I-Sobot has it's good and bad parts. For example, it's an incredibly agile machine with 17 servoes and an internal gyroscope (something that many larger bots do not come with standard). Coupled with limited voice recognition (not simply sound detection), sound effects/speech, and programmability, it's an impressive piece of hardware. It's got a helpful community that supports it with things like the third-party solution "Robodance" that allows you to control it with a laptop and even with the Nintendo Wii controllers.
The not-so-good? It has no fully-autonomus mode, i.e. no obstacle or edge-detection. It also has more limited battery life than other entertainment robots like the Robosapien line (it does come with rechargeable batteries and its own charger so the power situation is somewhat mitigated). Also it's a tad fragile (I wouldn't push it down the stairs).
Depending on the intended use of the robot, users may like it or not. I-Sobot is good for a simple and yet flashy introduction to robot programming and behavior (not to mention many of its more witty routines). It is not as versatile as a Robonova, but then it doesn't cost anywhere near the 'Nova's price. He might be pocket-sized, but this miniature high-tech humanoid robot packs a huge punch. i-SOBOT is a 6.5-inch biped bot that's fully articulated, features voice command recognition and can speak a vocabulary of over 200 words and phrases. What's more, he can dance, perform his own special karate moves complete with self sound effects, and can motor forwards, backward, side-to-side or diagonally. He'll even lay down when he's had enough - and get back up again when it's time to go.i-SOBOT is powered by 17 customs developed servo-motors and 19 integrated circuit chips. He features a built-in gyro sensor and comes fully assembled, ready for action. He can be controlled in a variety of ways: by pre-programmed actions, user programmed actions (done easily with the LCD remote control), or by real-time remote control or voice commands. Robot requires 3 "AAA" rechargeable batteries; remote requires 4 "AAA" batteries, all included. Measures 6.5" tall. There's no shortage of fun with the amazing i-SOBOT, the World's Smallest Robot. Packed with over 200 words and phrases, and more than 200 pre-programmed movements, this robot can do everything from saying goodbye to dancing the hula. Recommended for kids aged 10 and up, the i-SOBOT is ready to rock 'n' roll right out of the box.

The i-Sobot offers up to 220 degrees of movement. View larger. | Smooth Robotic Movement With unbelievably smooth robotics, the i-SOBOT walks more like a human than a robot. This fully-functional and fully-assembled robot features 17 custom designed actuators and gyro-sensor, allowing it to keep balance and freely move joints for impressive performance, vivid movement, and incredible flexibility. Other main components include a built-in speaker unit and built-in microphone with a voice recognition chip. With built-in clutches and metal gears, the i-SOBOT offers up to 220-degree movement. The two infrared transmission bands allow the robot to be operated with an LCD remote control.Robots Moves From Talking To Dancing Also performing by programmable memory and by the sound of your voice, the i-SOBOT will make your day and impress your friends with his moves. Putting the meaning back into "action-packed," the 6.5-inch tall robot dances to the beat, does push-ups and somersaults, imitates animals, hula dances, plays air guitar, kicks and punches with sound effects, and even responds to applause. Not only does the i-SOBOT talk with a vocabulary of 200 words and phrases, it also plays its own music. (Son has loved it for months so far!)
(My 9 month old son loves it!)
(Pleased with this toy!)
(My son loves it!) My son has owned this for one month now. He turns one tomorrow. So far, the toy is holding up great&my son is ROUGH with it. He stands on it because he wants to spin around, too! Fortunately, the spinner keeps working once he steps off of it. The little animals are cute and durable as well. The music is catchy. There are several ways to get the spinner to go and it was easy enough for my son to figure out. Overall, he's still pretty interested in it and it hasn't driven the family crazy yet. My son received this for his first birthday. Three months later he still loves it. He likes the 3 different ways to produce the singing. I like the songs! He likes taking the animals on and off the "track". I am hoping that the animals with wheels will be something that he can play with for a long time to come. I also now have a newborn and am looking forward to them playing with it together. He also likes putting other toys on the track and watching them go around and around.
I do not agree with the reviewer who called this toy "dangerous" -that is slightly ridiculous! My 9 month son absolutely loves this toy. I had doubts about it holding his interest since he loves to play with all of his "bigger" toys, but he can sit and play with this zoo for 30 minutes, just sitting and hitting the buttons to make the path spin and music play. He smiles as big as possible each and every time.
My son has also used it to help stand up many times, and has not had the problems someone else has posted about with his son being injured on it. As another poster stated, accidents can happen with any toy, and knowing that my son likes to use this toy to stand up, I am usually very close nearby as he plays with it.
I also love the music it plays. The songs are cute and talk about all of the animals at the zoo. Volume control is always a nice feature on toys with repetitive music. I like that the animals are on wheels so that he can play with the animals without the rest of the toy, especially as he gets older.
I love this toy because it is something that my 24 month old and 6 month old can play together! They love the different options for sound and the wheels on the animals. My older son loves to put other items like little people and cars to watch them spin too. I realize the other reviewer feels this product is dangerous but I can think of very few toys that my kids have that wouldn't hurt if my child fell on them. It is unfortunate that it happened and kids in general are klutzy but I don't think this toy is any more dangerous to fall on than say, the little people barn. I do think it is a good idea if your child is in the just learning to sit or just learning to stand/walk stage that you sit with them for this toy. My son is 23 months and absolutely loves this toy! First, he enjoys the 4 little animals that came with it. They have little wheels on the bottom of them so he can roll the on the floor as well as on the toy. On 3 of them the head moves and makes a clicking sound-which he seems to enjoy. There are 3 different buttons to push to make the music start and I think having "options" makes the toy more fun. There are about 3 other little movable toys that you only discover after playing with the toy for a little while. I think all the fun little "surprises" to discover is another thing that makes this toy so appealing. From a parent's perspective, the music from the toy is not as annoying as some toys. I enjoy the songs that the toy plays. And, it has a volume control which we keep on low. My only complaint is that I think the price is a little high. I would expect a toy such as this to be more in the 30.00 range.
This zoo is a complete activity center full of fascinating ways to delight baby. Baby's touch activates fun music, sounds, dancing lights and five sing-along songs. There are lots of busy activities to explore, too, like a clicking, sliding crocodile, spinning birdie, peek-a-boo tiger, wiggly-jiggly parrot, twirling ice pond and so much more. Animals have clicking heads and built-in wheels, so they're fun to play with in the zoo or on their own. Requires three button-cell batteries, included, and three "C" batteries, not included. Some assembly required. Measures 13"L x 23"W x 10.25"H. Rerations < Fisher-Price Amazing Animals Spinnin' Around Musical Zoo >

customer 's review (A solution to the Bakugan shortage)
(Bakugan and great) My son was driving me crazy asking me to drive to the store (usually Target or WalMart) several times a week to see if the new Bakugan shipments had arrived. Over the past few months, 99% of the time, the store shelves were bare. Online shopping has helped tremendously in the sense that my son can pick the exact style and color of the toy he desires and then save it in the Amazon shoping cart until later when I choose to buy it for him.
The online store we purchased this item from did a great job in delivering the exact item we ordered in about two days. I am happy that I may never have to drive to another toy store again! My kids love these little Bakugan and they travel well! It is all the rage at the elementary school now and kids are playing Bakugan instead of video games...which is great! customer 's review (Two boys' review: Spectacular action figure for young kids!) The WB released a new, more kid-friendly Spider-Man cartoon, titled, "The Spectacular Spider-Man." This action figure is nicely detailed, highly posable and comes with a wall-hanging web that can also be used to 'capture' Doc Octopus or Venom!
We've had our action figures for a couple months now and they are holding up against constant play by our 5-year old and 4-year old. I'm really impressed with the vivid colors and the multiple points of articulation.
We own and recommend these Spider-man action figures:
Spiderman Animated Action Figure Black-Suited Spiderman Spiderman Animated Action Figure - Doc Octopus Spiderman Animated Action Figure - Venom
Spectacular Spider-Man: Series 1 - Spider-Man With Wall Hanging Web is equipped with a white rubber web anchored to four large suction cups. This version of Spider-man is presented in the stylized animated aesthetic of the new Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon. Spider-Man is clad in his classic blue and red costume. Spider-Man generates his Wall Hanging Web to ambush garden variety criminals, and to provide an edge against more substantial villains such as Doc Ock and Venom. customer 's review (MY KID LOVE IT)
(hard to open)
(It's OK)
(Breaks apart easily!)
(great autobot) My kid does not stop convert it from a car to transformer all day.
thank you. This was a Christmas present for my grandson. His mother said it was too hard for her to open, so she had her daughter open it for her brother. He's 5 and she's 12. My 9 year old received this as a Christmas gift. It was hard to find one that wasn't the "second edition" from the fight scene of the movie. (I usually find what I'm looking for on Amazon!) He was so excited when he opened the gift but only played with it a couple of times. He's almost afraid to play with it much because upon first look you can tell that it is made out of a very cheap plasitc, as are most of the toys now'days. We have had 2 other Transformer vehicles break after playing with them only 1 time even with the boys being quite careful. As a parent I was really disappointed with the quality. However, the replication is done very well. I was surprised to find that this, like other Transformers that were gifts for Christmas, seem to fall apart very easily. They can be put back together (i.e. they don't break) but it is frustrating finding the parts all over the house. This one, Jazz, seems the most durable of he others we have. We keep reminding our son to "not force" the Transformer to a changed position, and I overheard him giving the same advice to a friend while playing with it. My son (age 7) loves playing with these, and it was a big hit! I just bought this toy yesterday, and it's great.
I've been watning to get Jazz for a really long time, but thanks to the in-store TF toy drought, it made really hard to find.
but eventually I got REALLY lucky and found the Jazz G1 repaint at Target.
If you haven't seen it, it is basically the same build, but he's white with blue and red stripes down the middle with the number "4" on the sides and on the hood. With this repaint, Jazz looks EXACTLY like his G1 counterpart, which is cool for me since I just got into transformers after the new movie.
However, this G1 Jazz repaint (along with the Starscream G1 repaint) are ONLY at Target.
Overall, great toy, the alt. mode looks great, the robot mode feels sturdy and he can make some cool poses, even with his limited articulation. This figure is from the Transformers Movie line of figures. Rerations < Transformers Movie Deluxe Autobot Jazz >
