『As as a retired teacher I have seen toy fads come and go, but these blocks stand the test of time. The identical product has been used in preschool and primary classrooms for years. Children can stand on them as well as build structures to walk through. We purchased two sets for our grandchildren and they always return to them. We give them as gifts and the best part is that they need no batteries...just imagination.』

『I was skeptical when I bought these blocks and thought they might be flimsy as they are made of cardboard. But I gave them a chance and I'm so glad I did. These blocks are WAY more durable than I expected- my son is super rough with them and they show almost no sign of wear six months of regular play later. He has repeatedly stepped/ stood/ sat on these blocks and they hold their shape amazingly well.

In addition to being durable, they are also lightweight so that if a tall tower falls, no one will get hurt.

I definitely recommend these to anyone who is looking for a durable yet safe toy to provide hours of great imaginative play.』

『These blocks are awesome! They were bigger than I expected. My daycare kids just love playing with them. They love to build their towers, only to knock them over..lol. The blocks are colorful (red, yellow,&blue) and come in 3 sizes (sm. med. lg). They're pretty sturdy&the only complaint I have is that the corners are quite sharp when you first put them together. My nephew scraped his belly a little when he knocked his tower over&fell on top of one of the red blocks. But he still continues to play with them almost everyday. Once the blocks get a little worn from play, the corners shouldn't be as sharp. I would still buy more of these, just to build up a bigger collection. I think they are a very educational&all around great toy to have for your own kids or for any daycare.』

『This is a wonderful toy for little people. I bought it for my 3-year-old grandson on the occasion of his birthday, and all he wanted to do was to build and build and build with me. My 4-year-old grandson (different household!) is also crazy about these blocks (I also have a set at my own house). The 4-year-old builds towers taller than himself and is so proud of his achievement that he asked me to take a picture! The blocks are sturdy, simple to assemble, perfectly sized for little hands, hold endless possibilities and keep short people intently focused in creativity. The clear plastic carry bag is fabulous for quick, easy and fun cleanup together (or apart). Mega Blocks are the best!』

『This is the best type of building block for toddlers in the market. The pieces are big and easy to connect. Fully recommended. We sometimes take a small selection when traveling in the car. I chose this bag because it contains a few blocks with interesting features. These are worth the extra money, particularly when buying for a young toddler. My daughter is 15 month old and she loves to find those pieces with peekaboo, beads or little windows. The plastic container is very useful and big enough to put all the pieces away. For my daughter, "clean up time" is just as much fun as the playing time. The only minor problem is that the plastic can tear, but that is easily fixed with a bit of tape.』

『I like putting things together. This thing was no fun. You MUST use the directions. You start with a ton of little pieces and screw them together. It doesn't have nuts. It uses little plastic sleeves that you screw into. It took me 3 hours. I am very network savvy. It wasn't hard for me to set up. But I think it would be hard if not impossible for a lot of people. Its not sturdy at all. If you hit a wall the tank treads climb the wall and it flips over. Mine does work perfectly. I have driven around the house twice in a month. I have driven in from a hotel. The head light is useless. So if your driving it remotely you need to stay in lighted rooms. I paid 99 bucks and would still send it back if it wasn't so hard to get it back in the box.』

『if anyone needs help with operating your spykee on any mode (ad hoc, through WiFi, Remote), or if you need help in installing and operating the iSpykee program (for your iPhone or iTouch), please e-mail me at [...]... it was difficult for me to do the programming in the beginning (took me nearly two days to finally accomplish the remote part of this Spykee)...but after a while, I got it to work...don't stress yourself out...try reading the youtube tutorials and the manual over again (note...try not to use the reset button so much...it's a pain in the but to start the whole programming process all over again)...if that doesn't work for you...send me an email and i might be able to help over the phone

(Pretty cool, but not really for 8 year olds)

『I recently picked up one of these through Woot, which definitely made the pricing attractive!

It took about 2 hours to assemble, pretty straightforward by looking at the pictures. I did not find the addendum with revised instructions necessary, but I could see how the original procedure could be awkward. Incidentally, if you're just interested in experimenting with a camera-equipped robot, the bulk of the parts assembly is purely decorative. You only really need to build a support for the camera, and you're in business. I'm basically disassembling mine right now and replacing the body with a cargo compartment.

The networking is tremendously impressive. There is clearly a lot of horsepower under the hood here. I got it working in local and remote mode with no problems. However, the process is somewhat complex. I personally didn't have to make any changes to my network for it to work - however, your experience might be different. If so, a good understanding of wireless networks will help a great deal. There is a complex system of passwords and robot names that has to be set up correctly before anything will work.

Play value is good. The software is reliable and easy to use. I spent a while playing with the robot and a 6 year old, it was fun to make up challenges and games, ie steering the robot around the house, through different rooms, finding and pushing different objects, taking pictures of designated targets, etc.

Using the robot cam with Skype requires third-part software, I used the SpkCam driver from [...]. This worked fine with Skype and with other video software. The robot's video stream turns up as just another standard webcam.

Would strongly recommend looking at the few Spykee hack/mod sites out there. Some of the software they have produced is much better than the official one, including more precise motor control and the ability to add more motors.

I take off a star for the lack of the (promised) software development kit, and the lack of further articulation and motors. Also, this is a vastly more sophisticated and complex product than it appears - it is far, far more than a remote control robot. There's an embedded Linux computer in there, a bunch of microcontrollers, WiFi networking, a full Internet communications stack, etc. It would make a great hacking platform, but sadly the manufacturers have not made this possible.』

(Spykee's Fun, With A Little To Be Desired...)

『My wife ended up buying this for me (after recommendation from myself) and I was very excited.

The first thing I did after receiving it was to put the base into the charger. The unit arrives uncharged, so I strongly recommend starting with this step.

The next thing you will notice, is that you have a box full of bags of parts, and nothing that looks like a robot. The base turns out to be one of the last pieces you will use, which means most of the assembly can commence while the charging is occurring.

Assembly is somewhat tedious, though not overly difficult if you take your time. It will take you an hour or two, to do, so make sure not to get overly anxious as there is a lot of work between receiving and using.

The most difficult part seems to be the wireless configuration. There are a lot of rules to follow, a few of which may require you to reconfigure your home wireless network. Spykee doesn't like spaces or special characters in network names, and even in passwords. It took me several resets before I came to realize this was the problem.

The biggest downfall once you are up and running is the fact that the camera isn't movable. The issue is that the higher you have the camera pointed, the less ground you see and the harder it is to navigate. The lower you have it the easier to drive, but the less you can actually see. Once its up and running this seems to be the biggest downfall. Also, Spykee features a light that can be switched on for dark rooms. I found the only thing this light really lets me do is avoid hitting stuff I'm right next to. The light is nowhere strong enough to allow practical use of the robot in a pitch black room...

Also, the robot has a vox mode, allowing the user to speak and listen though the robot, however if you try to do so without some kind of headset you will get a lot of echo. One of the reasons I got it was so that instead of calling a friend or messaging them, I can have them connect and interact with them...

The remote mode, which allows access from outside your home, is nice and works without much lag. The only problem I found with it is that my work's firewall is blocking the ports necessary for access. But aside from at work it allows me to take a look around my house from almost any computer...』
