Very detailed and sturdy also Don't confuse the "Take Along Thomas" with the "Wooden Railway" set as I did. "Take Along" is medal with a narrower guage track than the "Wooden Railway" set. This gift was a big hit for our grandson as he had been asking for these particular cars for months. Apparently, they had not been manufactured for a while. Made of steel, they are able to take abuse from a toddler yet still are easy to maneuver. We expect they'll become heirlooms, along with other Thomas the Train cars. These kinds of toys help develop fine motor skills, encourage imaginary play, and hold up exceedingly well. My three year old has two Thomas engines and no coaches. He REALLY wanted Annie&Clarabel. He loves it. It is a very durble toy. My nephew LOVES this little R/C digger! He is three and loves ALL diggers and construction type play vehicles, but this was his first R/C vehicle. He actually got a couple of other types of R/C vehicles for his third birthday, but seems to like this one the best. It has a lot of "play value" even when not using the R/C. Then, of course, he loves the main feature of being able to use the digger with the R/C. So far the toy seems very durable, and it's nice that it comes with a play set that includes a few other accessories (boulders to mover around and road blocks to make the "play" more realistic)! It was very easy for him to figure out his first time playing with it, and we had a hard time getting him back to opening other gifts after he opened that one, so you might want to make this the last gift in the "line-up!" :-) Hope your little one ejnoys it as much as ours! We received two sharks and they operate on the same frequency. We replaced one shark with a gator (which operates at a different frequency)and the two work fine together. I bought these for my nephews (I actually bought three of them), they loved them. Very powerfull on only a few batteries, and they last long too! They go in the water, but not for very long because they tend to flip over - I recomend only shallow water, like on the edge of a beach or a lake. The only think I wasn't happy with was they don't warn you anywhere that you can't use two together that are on the same frequency because the signals start getting mixed up(maybe I was supposed to know that?). Overall - excellent toy for such a low price and very easy for kids to operate! Really fun. I was most impressed when our first one broke and I called the company. He immediately apologized and told me he would send a second one out. Just like that. You don't get great service like that these days so I will definately use them again and again. Our 3&5 year olds received two of these morphibians for their birthdays. They quickly understood the controller and had them driving over grass, curbs, rocks, etc. They are tuff--took tumbles down steps w/ out a ding. Lots of fun. All the kids on the block could not wait to get a turn. Sure hit!! I bought this as a gift for my nephew who is a few years younger than the recommended age limit for this toy. He was impressed with the look, but not sure what to do with it. So I took a few minutes with the toy. It moves easily, but I found the controls a bit confusing when trying to get the car to move in a straight line. (Fun for every age) (A great, lasting piece) This toy has been a great addition to my preschool classroom, the children love to use it. It's completely wooden with a real "tree" feel, which works great for my naturalistic program. The tree is also big enough for 3-4 children to use at the same time. However, on one occasion one of the children using the toy fell onto the stick that is intended for the tire swing to hang from, and it landed right below her eye leaving a nasty welt--a couple inches higher and it would have gone into her eye. I would strongly suggest removing that particular piece from the toy! We cut it off&hung the tire swing from the ladder, it's worked just fine. I'll be contacting the company to suggest making this a long term change! Assembly was a bit difficult, but not terrible. All required hardware was included. Most Melissa and Doug toys can stand up to just about anything. This toy has taken a lot of abuse (as all toys do in a preschool environment!) and the base has stood up well. However, the swing fell apart within the first week&was impossible to repair, and the stairs jam on occasion. These are minor issues, compared to the overall quality of the toy, but should be taken into consideration. I looked at a number of options before purchasing this tree house, and feel that even despite these flaws this is still the best wooden tree house on the market. My kids love this treehouse. Great for encouraging little imaginations. I love it because it's a nice-looking item (as opposed to some giant, plastic cheap-looking toy) and not an eye-sore in the family room. We have had the treehouse for over a year and it has been constantly in use. The children (8 and 6) have used it as a base for pirates, little people, barbies, knights, and every other character in the house. The tracks that come with the train is not enough. This addition to our track arrived boxed fine, no damage, but the ends were warped to the point that the train wasn't powerful enough to plow over the lips it created. They must have been stored in a hot warehouse. Its too bad because they make the ride more interesting than just the oval. Although I think my little guy would have just as much fun without this conversion. Keep your money and try it first without this addition. (Most Favorite Aunt!) (5-yr old son loves this!) (Fast is an understatement!) (Fun Little Boat) I was looking for a boat for a friendly family race over the 4th of July. Did not want to spend a bunch of money on it, and some calls to local hobby shops were very discouraging. Based on the positive review I saw here, I took a chance and ordered it. Wow... the boat is quick. Do not expect to use this in a kiddie pool. The boat can only go forward, and turns by cutting power to one of the two props. Don't lets its turning method discourage you I was shocked at how tight the turns were. I would estimate a turning radius of 2 feet or so. The only down side is the charge time vs play time, but even then it is great fun and well worth it. And yes I kicked everyone's tail at our race ;-) I bought this item for my 10 year old godson's birthday. Unfortunately the item was damaged in shipment, but I must say this company went above and beyond to make it right for me. They expressed shipped a completely new boat directly to my godson ensuring he would receive the new boat in time for his annual birthday trip to Lake George. They're back from their trip and the gift was a HUGE hit. My godson loved it and his mother confirmed that it was played with everyday they were away and while it was "blazingly fast" the use of the toy was easily mastered. All in all both I the gift giver and the gift recipient were very pleased with the purchase! My 5-yr old loves this boat! He and his dad have a lot of fun using it at a pretty big pond at one of our village parks. The only down-side is the actual amount of time it can be used on one charge (about 10-15 minutes). I think this was mentioned by another reviewer, so it was nice to at least know this ahead of time. This boat is fast! I purchased it for my 9 year old son for Christmas and he loves it. The boat is extremely fast, with nice sharp turns, responds to the controller immediately. Highly recommend this RC boat. Durable too, as one time the propellers got caught in some plastic netting, we got it free and nothing was broken or damaged. Seller is excellent to deal with. Only negative on this boat: the battery. Battery loses charge each time you use it and it only gives you about 30 minutes play time before it runs low. This is a very fun, fast little boat. I am enjoying it very much. Easy to put together (battery pack, install the antenna mast (a plastic tube), and screw in the antenna on the sending unit.) It goes fast and is easy to control. Controls are very simple, really just two switches: left engine one/off and right engine on/off. The control box has: go, forward on the left control and right or left turn on the right control. The left control switches both engine to full on (no throttle control, just full-on/off) and the right control shuts off one engine or the other (left or right), to turn. It turns quite tightly (without a rudder.) But by "pulsing" the left or right control, you can make the boat execute broader turns. It gets up and planes almost instantly. It's quite fast. At the beginning of a full charge, it might be doing the advertised 25 mph. 15 mph is more like it most the time. The good: Price! Runs well, easy to use, seems to have good RF range, fast, tough hull, ships very little water. Be sure to pour out the water and leave it open to dry out between runs. The negative: Short battery life. I'd guess I'm getting 15 minutes of operation with a full charge. It takes about 5 hours to charge. I have been looking for spare battery packs and couldn't find any. I ended up buying parts and I will be making my own battery packs (try BatterySpace.com and Radical RC online.) Runs on a set of 6 standard "Sub C" cells, wired in series, with a shrink wrap around it and a connector used for Tamiya RC cars.
